Hope you guys are having a great day. Little rainy. I think it stopped raining. I think it's a little bit better now, but we don't have windows here. So if you want to provide an update for us, we'd appreciate it. Yeah, it should be a size enough to be a pretty good weekend. Get's going tonight with the Emton Elks. Taking on the Hamilton Tiger Cats. You've also got the oil kings on the road in medicine hats, tomorrow, oilers, and sharks. To a clock, pregame 1, Donovan Paulson and myself. We handling the duties tomorrow. Will McLean, Celabri and E play? We'll find out. Tharnel and theirs, Big winner. I'm sure the guys will be excited to see him. Maybe a team meal today with their former associate captain. Or assistant captain, but we'll see. I'm sure we'll hear about it. If it all went down, Zach Hyman was back on the ice today, which definitely is an encouraging sign for the oilers. I'm not sure if he's going to get out there tomorrow, but hey, it's positive. It's moving forward. It's good news. And I'm sure the oilers will welcome him back into the lineup as soon as he is set to go.

But earlier on in the week, Jason Graver did a chance to catch up with the quarterback of the Edmonton Elks. Cody Fajardo. We're going to hear that conversation right now. Yeah, you know what? I've been in sleep 12 years, and I've only missed the playoffs twice in those 12 years, and one was last year. And it hurts when you're see other teams in the playoffs. So first phase of the, you know, four-step process was getting to the playoffs first. And we did that. And I got one. Thank you. Getting to the playoffs and that's the main goal. But then you get one step closer, and you want to plan for your fans. Like, our fans have showed out for us week after week after week, as we continue to win like something that is so proud in the city is Edmonton football is back in Edmonton. And that's what we want to be a part of. So for us, yes, we have this four-step process, and we have a good opportunity on Saturday. We still need some things that shake out in our favor. But we're going to take it one week at a time, because I feel like when this team starts looking too far ahead, we get ourselves into some trouble. And so we're going to take it one week at a time, and whatever happens happens. But the good news is we're the drivers of the bus.

And last year we couldn't say that. We needed X team to beat X team. And that's a tough spot to be in. So this year, if we just win football games, everything we want is right in front of us. Late in the year by, not too late. I don't think you would ever want to buy in the last week of the season. But you know, you've got three games left now. Everybody gets to a mental reset. And you talked about it. You know, you had some emotional games. And I think from your offensive standpoint, you guys mean really good all year. And it's odd when your kicker breaks a record. It's great on one side, but you're like, oh, that's not really great for us, because we want to score touchdown. So how important mentally was the buy week for you? Yeah, it was huge. It's just a chance to reset. You know, as a football player, you get so honed in on the Xs and O's and the everyday life. You get in this routine. And you almost feels like the Truman show at times where you're just doing the same thing every single day. So to reset, I got to go home, see my kids. I haven't seen them for about a month. Just be a dad. Sometimes it puts things in perspective in life, where it's like so much you focus on football and the outcome of games and wins and losses and playing well and not playing well.

And you soak on that. And then you go home and you get to be a dad. And you're like, why was I ever thinking those were big problems? You know, like just having a healthy family and being able to spend time with my kids. Like that means everything. So it just reboots you going into this final drive, this final finish for us. And for me, it just makes you remember your why. And it helped me remember my why. And so yeah, we got some things to clean up. But I would much rather vincick nine fjogles than have nine turnovers or nine interceptions. So you looked at BC, they did the same thing a week later and they kick eight fjogles, you know, in regulation. At this point, I said it after the game, at this point in the year, you're just looking to find ways to win games. You're not looking for peak performance. You're looking for optimum performance. And at this point with guys banged up, myself included, you're just trying to find a way to play winning football. And we did that again, Hamilton. Yes, the records are one thing, but it's pro sports. There's a salary cap for a reason. They got good players. We got good players. It's always a little bit more when teams are people outside of the team expect you to win the game. And then you win a close one. It's like, oh, well, it was close. And it's like, well, we won the game. So I kind of rambled there a little bit.

But my last point of that is, you know, for so many years, like this organization has just tried to find ways to win games. Now when we're winning games, there's still people are critiquing us on winning games, which I love because the expectation should be we win win games. We want to blow out wins. We want this. And now the fans are feeling that expectation. And we love that as players. Hold it to a higher standard. We're going to find ways to win games. But we know we can win games better. This might be an odd question. But when you have a kicker who's pretty much being as money as he has, can you take more chances when you're at the 45? But maybe you're like, oh, geez, we've got to get closer to get our kicker. We're like, you know, why don't we stall here? It doesn't matter because he'll kick it anyway. Does that come into play at all in the play calling? Do you think? I think the only time for me as a quarterback, I can't say much for Jordan in the way he calls plays. But for me, the only time it really comes to affect his game winning drives if we need a field goal. And just understanding where our kick point is. In the guts of the game, in the middle of the game, you don't really think about that stuff. You're trying to score every single time you get the ball. But if you're down to down one, down three, and you need a field goal to either win or tie

and go into overtime, then that's when I think it comes the forefront of your mind. Like, okay, we got a really good kicker. Get them to the 40-yard line. Get them to the 50-yard line. Whatever it is that day. Usually Killem and I have that conversation. And both ways are different based off wind. It's like, okay, going north end zone or maybe at the 45-yard line. But going to the south end zone or maybe the 52-yard line. So that's where it kind of comes to the forefront of your mind. Anytime Vintakes the field, like he's been so money for us all year. But I've said it, like, if you miss the kick to win the game, we're going to love him up the same way. And that's just the guys we have in that locker room. Yes, it's great when he's hitting all these game winners and he's hitting nine field goals in a game. But that doesn't change just because we like him because he's kicking and making field goals now. And if you were to miss him where we're going to just turn on him, we love him for who he is. And I think that's what's helped him settle in. It was your first opportunity in the two-point shootout. What did you think of it? Pretty damn exciting. Yeah, I have one tie in my career. And that was probably one of the worst feelings in pro sports for me is, you much rather have it decided out, whether you win or lose. You know, you can change the losses

and you can look at it and learn from it. It's like you come off a tie. You're like, kind of felt like we lost, but also kind of felt like we won. So I'm just glad that they took that out of there. Because then things get really hairy in standings when you start factoring in ties and one points and stuff like that. So I'm a big fan of it. I didn't like that. I had to go all the way to that point because my heart can only take so much. But I think it's good for our guys. Just those are playoff games. Those are playoff games, playoff experience. Tight games where you have to go out, you have to drive the field, kick a field, go go to overtime, win it over time, get a stop, get a two-point. Like those are really meaningful reps for us that we can't, you know, it pays dividends just having it in the regular season. And it wasn't lost on me that in the OT, in the sudden death, you go to C-Fest. He's become a guy that I think you really trust and obviously can run a lot of different routes down the middle of the field or on an out pattern like that. He's just, he's become a go-to guy for you. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, at this point in the season, he's not a rookie anymore. So I hold them to a higher standard now. You know, there's some things early on in the year.

I would let them get away with it just because he's young. But now, you know, there's a couple of times I'll get a little fiery at him. I'll say some things. And we'll exchange some words while I have great conversation on the sideline. But I just have such a high expectation for him. What I know he can do in this league and just seeing what he's done as a rookie in this league. Like, we're gonna have those tough conversations and it's gonna make him better. It's gonna make me better. It's gonna make our relationship better. And so when we do have that opportunity, game on the line, and you can trust him to be at the right spot at the right time and then celebrate, like, that's what it's all about. And just watching him grow as a player and as a person from week one in the season all the way till now has been pretty impressive. And lastly, you saw Hamilton in your last game. They've obviously played Sins, but I know you took a time off. But since coming back here, do you feel confident that you guys offensively can take what you see in the film and say, okay, we can exploit some certain areas of their defense on Friday? Yeah, I mean, their defense is good. Look at them statistically. They're top five in almost every category. Like, they're a really good defense, a very veteran defense. So we knew we had to have our hands full going into that game.

You know, let's be honest, the reason why they're not a playoff team is they obviously bow getting heard and having a backup quarterback in. But their defense has held them in damn near every game. They just held Ottawa to 16 points like they're really good. So to say we got a chance to exploit them, like, yes, we're making some corrections, but like I said, they're a really good defense. We're gonna have our hands full. We haven't played great out east all year. So that was kind of the message I had to the guys. We have an opportunity to write some of the wrongs. We've had this year and lay in an egg in Montreal, not playing our best in Toronto. And then first game of the year, Ottawa in the rain, like you can't really say much about that, right? So this is a good opportunity for us to go out east. And like I said, write some more wrongs versus very, very talented defense. And the last thing to that is these guys are playing for jobs. They're playing for contracts for next year, even though they're out of the playoffs. So if we think that they're just gonna roll over for us, then our guys got another thing coming. So I try to reiterate that when guys are playing for their family and guys are playing for a contract next year, they're gonna try a little bit harder and they're gonna give us their best punch and we gotta be ready for that. There you go. Hamilton Alex quarterback, Cody Fajardo.

In conversation with Jason Greger from earlier this week, we're about an hour or 45 minutes away from kickoff out in Hamilton as the Alex trying to just keep on going. Keep on hanging around top spot in the West division. Now let's get to the stats of the day, brought to by All Star Construction founded in 2009. They continue to grow hiring general laborers, gas pipe fusors, backo operator and engineering and electrician. Hi, voltage go to indeed.com and search All Star Construction. This year Cody Fajardo, when you take a look at passing yards, fourth in the league with just over 4,400, he's also thrown 23 touchdowns to 10 interceptions. His completion percentage, kinda rate on par with all the guys in the top five in terms of yardage. Right now Davis, Alexander 71.7 would be tops. Y'all Cody Fajardo was 69.5, Chad Kelly at 70, Trevor Harris at 70, and then Nathan work 69.7. So all those guys kinda hanging around, a little bit of a drop off of Vernon Adams goes down to 65% completion rate. But when you look at the touchdowns, he's thrown 34, one ahead of Chad Kelly.

Just the five interceptions, but we talked about it in the summer. There was a lot of turnover, worthy plays that just weren't being caught against the codgers down Peter. So you think those would balance out a little bit, but at the same time, you still just thrown five interceptions. Davis, Alexander, three interceptions to 30 touchdown, quite the ratio. Yesterday on the show, Jason was talking about how the podgers would owe for 21 to end their season. That was the longest hit list throughout to end a season in the national league, but not in baseball history. The 2015 Astros went over 22 to wrap up their campaign. The 1997 Mariners, over 23, and the longest. The 1990 athletics went over 25 to wrap up their season. Other news and notes from this, stats the day Friday edition, going into yesterday, Doc Prescott, 13 and seven all time on Thursdays. He was one win shy of tying Tom Brady. Didn't happen. But next time they get a Thursday nighter, whether it would be Thanksgiving or whatever it might be,

they'll have their opportunity. Certain teams would have a bit of an advantage on that. The Cowboys, the Lions, the teams of play every Thursday, just kind of shows Tom Brady's a longevity and what he was able to do. How about this? Since quarterback stats starts or first track in 1950, only one quarterback has done each the following in his first two starts, completed 70% of his passes, thrown a touchdown and rushed for 20 plus yards, his name, Jalen Daniels, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, undrafted as well in Declan. Some college football stats for a tomorrow show now between Georgia and Bama, Roll Tide will be the 11th meeting, since the year 2000, where both teams were top in the top 10 of the AP poll, the most, and head to the matchups of any two teams going at it. Now, it'll be 11. The next closest Alabama LSU, who have met nine times with being in the top 10, and Ohio State versus Michigan, who have met eight times, while going in the top 10. There you go, some stats of the day, as we welcome in our good friend,

Juan Yegretz from Oilers Nation, and Daily Face Off Edmonton. No, more. And, or? Well, that's for the courts to decide, Connor. They're not gonna come after us or sing it, are they? Well, not you, they might me. Oh, it's okay. Do you have a Edmonton? I'll get Wi-Fi in prison, and I can do a show from there. Should Knight does a full podcast from jail? Really? Yeah, it's good. Okay. I still don't want to risk it. I don't want to be the reason. Well, that's okay. I'm just joshing you on my hands, clean. Yeah, yeah, yeah, smart, smart, smart. How you feeling about the Edmonton Oilers going into the game tomorrow? We had Zach Hyman skating at practice today. That's a positive. That was a excellent turn of events against the ducks. Started off quite bad, didn't it? It did. And then, what was it, 10 seconds into the second period they scored? I believe 11 officially, but... Unbelievable. Either way, yeah. Great. Evan Mouschard, good hockey player. When I saw the news of where the cap is going, is it two years, they said it's 110? Sounds right. I have to go take a look, but yeah. Get ready for Evan Mouschard to make $70 million

a year, or there's fans, because that is on the horizon. Connor, can you take another discount to $12 million? Can you make sense now? Well, you're gonna have one of the best value contracts in Leon Drys, though. True. Like, every year we go, it's like, oh my goodness, that's an amazing deal. For early on Drys, that'll just $14 million. You will be shocked when that contract is done who's making the same money as Leon Drys. Oh, it's gonna be like, that has a third line plug. Totally. Taking shots at him for it, but yeah, it should be good. Oilers afternoon game tomorrow. That's gotta be good for you. Do you have the little guy? Yeah. Why don't you, Junior, I'll be watching with our eyes peeled. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you, Scott. Yeah, only afternoon games have three periods. I don't know if you know this is a new dad. Evening games, they only have two periods. That's what we go to bed. But the afternoon games have three. I'm looking forward to it. Is he a celebrity any fan at all? No, we're still a little bit abstract in our love of hockey. Just oil. Yeah. That's a good way to do it. He's got a Vinny Day, her nature. Oh really? So that's something. We had Ryan Holt on the Condor's Play by Play Guy.

Yeah. And I was just asking him, who's kind of your favorite stories? Obviously, you see a lot of guys developing their time in the A.H.L. And that was one of the names you brought up. Vinny is like, the top guys are cool, but it's cool to see the guys who come in maybe a little more unharrowed and then flourish and then get an opportunity to be in the A.H.L. And now Vinny's cracked out at an A.H.L. career. Yeah, a good one. Good money from the caps. I think a lot of people are very high on. Yeah. Elks played a night. Unbelievable. You fired up for this one? Fired up. It's going to be a good weekend. Yeah, we're getting into fall. We are. We are. The NFL. We had big college football games tomorrow. Everyone should be excited. Even Chargers fans. Less so, Chargers fans. There's an opportunity compete. That's, yeah, for their backups. A lot of injuries. Yeah. That's usually a storyline for this team, but now it's taken it to a whole other level. I'm only nominally paying attention to football. You know how I get down, but I keep my eyes peeled every week for the Chargers for you. It's not good. It's not good. But you know what, I've accepted it. I've gone from the point of where I like the loss to the cards and the Raiders really bummed me out to the point where it's like, well, they shouldn't beat this team.

They shouldn't beat this team. Carlos Chris is a Texas fan. Not excited. He's like me, you know, I hope the Chargers trade Khalil Mac. That's what I want. I want him to go to a team where he can play in the playoffs and get a win. Okay. I want him to win for him. And you know, heck, if a team wants to throw a first round pick our way, we'll take it. I feel like the NFL, and again, I don't know much, but I know enough to know that like it's, you don't need to tank quite as hard for an NFL draft, because there's like nine Heisman winners in every draft. It feels like and everybody's unreal. Like how many players do you think in the NHL draft or actual impact players within two years of being drafted? Like three. Really? Maybe I can get it here. Really? I think the lot guys still say some more time. In the year drafting of NFL player, they're 22, 23, right? So you're a little more down the road. What's the window like usually for development in the NFL? Yeah. Like once you get drafted, you're expected to be something within a week three, right? Right. That's kind of the joke. Like, oh, yeah, by a week four, you're not a rookie anymore. You're a pro.

Really? Yeah. Know what to do. So it's quick in the NHL, you know, how many guys hang around camps for that long, right? It's just different sports, but that's true. Like you can finish 15th and add two or three starters the next year. Really? Oh, yeah. If you're, I mean, hey, if you're a bad enough team, that's true. We'll take a break. When we come back, we're going to talk a little CFL football. It all gets going tonight out in Hamilton. It is the Jason Grader show brought to you by PlaleBird at dot CA. 326. Welcome back. It is the Jason Grader show here on sports 1440 brought to you by PlaleBird at dot CA. Connor Hallewang, eight grettes, Tecklen Kruger, McKenzie McClendon in the studio. It's like it's the summer all over again. The band is all back together. Jason will be on the show coming up in a boat an hours time. And then hosting again, once we return from the long weekend, but we're just guiding the on through to the weekend. Wanga, big plans? Well, all the sporting events, but as you explained it to me in the break, this is our big shot. Me and Country Mac and Deck. Yeah, I'm going to be leaving in about 45 minutes. I'll be listening to you guys mess it up.

The big city radio stations are going to be making calls. And they say, who are these fresh young voices on sports? They need to come out east. They're going to say, and I'll say no. I stay in Ebb and 10. I can't speak for Decklen in Country Mac. It'll be like back to the future. That new sound you're looking for. This is it. This is it. It could happen. It could happen. We got some text. My MDR says, Mac to the Niners, just do it. MTR, I'd be thrilled for him to go to the Niners. Lance has lots of room on the Raiders' wagon. Yeah. No thanks. Family trust respect, Lance. Remember that. Right now, we're going to the CFL report brought to you by Lake City Heating and cooling home with a no payment, no interest for one year on your furnace or AC, bundle them together and save more. Lake City Heating.ca is a ring in JC Abbott, of course, with three down nation covering the CFL JC. Good afternoon. How are you doing today? I'm doing great. Thanks for me on. Yeah. We appreciate you joining us. Quick question. I know you're all about the CFL. Obviously there's a lot to cover. But do you have an NFL team as well?

I don't currently growing up. I was a Green Bay Packers guy. You know, I fell in love with the sport when Brett Farve was sort of nearing the end of his 10 year there. Obviously, things in recent years have maybe colored my opinion of him. But as a child, like watching him, that was that was pro football. That was the ultimate entertainment. So I have a soft spot for the Green Bay Packers. But really, when it's CFL season, I'm locked in on three down football. I can't really turn the page to the NFL until after the great cup is done. Oh, 100% I figured that might be the case. But I mean, we all got a little NFL. And yeah, as far as gunslingers Brett Farve as a player was maybe the epitome of it. He threw that ball and it was going to be caught by someone, not always the right team. Now, Jay Z, the Emton Elks back in an action after a by week, the third by week of the season, they've gone into them with wins in each of the cases. Although last week against the Hamilton Tiger Cats, maybe not the best.

They're further kicker, great win, but the offense still struggling to score points in the red zone and even could you know, turning three into seven. I do want to ask you though, because I don't think too many people would have had the Edmonton Elks in this position going into their final by week where they're atop the Western division. What do you think has been the biggest reason for the turnaround for the Green and Gold this season? I think it's it's culture and a gradual build, right? When this new regime came in, first of all, it was all an alignment from top down. They did it in the right order. They got Chris Morrison as the president. They got Ed Hervean as the GM. They got Mark Killaman as the head coach in that order, which for a lot of teams, for whatever reason, it ends up being, you know, a GM's in place and or the head coach is in place. And then a GM has to get switched in because of there's a difficulty. Now those two people are out out of alignment that hasn't been the case in Edmonton.

And so they've been able to set a true culture from the bottom up. They scrubbed out that locker room in the first year. And now we're seeing the fruits of that labor. I think they've got the right people in there. I think they've had a good eye for talent and knowing, you know, where they could make changes, where they needed to go out and spend big in order to bring in the pieces that they needed. And all of that has contributed to a team that, you know, not only knows how to win, but knows how to handle adversity because not all their wins have come easy. Sometimes that has been, you know, a detriment to them. You could argue they haven't been as dominant as they should be at times. But they always find a way to pull it out. And once you get to the postseason, you know, that is, is more valuable than any other skill set. Just the ability, you know, to take one in the teeth and then pick yourself up and come back and still win a football game. 100% and yeah, I really like what you said there about starting with the topic is I agree.

And we had Chris Morris joining us in studio and when he was first announced. And he kind of talked with how guys were going to be brought in here that want to be here. They want to be in the community. And it's not going to be turnover and trying to find new players. I think they've lived up to that, you know, even through some adversity with the coaching staff. Like I think JC shared has taken strides and play collar on the defensive side of the football and the offensive side. Well, there's still some things they could be working out here. But overall, it has been pretty good. Now they get the Hamilton higher cats tonight. And it's a team who I think maybe a little more confident after the last time these two teams met. They got a chance to go beat up on the red blocks for the Elks tonight. What do they need to watch out for for this tie cats team? Well, I think you need to figure out how you're going to score touchouts against them. Right. That was the problem two weeks ago is the offense has not been clicking as much as of late as it had been earlier in the season. Hopefully the by week a little bit of rest, maybe the return of a couple key pieces in David beer up front and Joe robustelli in the receiving core helps with that.

And you need to be able to finish your drives because when you look at the full context of that game, right. It shouldn't have been close. The Elks had nine scoring drives. And even half of those turn into touchdowns, it's a blowout. But unfortunately they had to rely on the leg of their kicker and they've struggled in the red zones at red zone at times this year. So that's the key piece. I think defensively you did a good enough job against them. You probably want to clean up a little bit, not allow somebody air yards to Harrison Frost, who's a young QB. Primarily your focus has to be on the offense scoring points and finishing your eyes. What have you made of the job that Cody Fajardo has done this season? I've got big news. I switched to Verizon and got the new iPhone 18 Pro. I can keep my old phone and I also get the latest iPhone every year. Anything else? Verizon let me choose Apple Watch Series 12 or iPad on them.

I've been at times a Kogi Fajargo skeptic, right? I think he's a very competent QB, but I've never placed him up in the upper echelon. I think he needs a good team around him and he has one in Edmonton. But one thing that he brings to the table is when he's got that team around him and they're winging, you know, there is a mentality there with Kogi Fajargo. And I never say die sort of style that guys fiat of and I think he's been a leader in that building that Edmonton has maybe lacked over the last number of years. So he's been really impressive. I don't want to take anything away from his performance. In fact, you know, if the ballot was out right now, I would probably vote for him as the MOP in the West division.

Obviously, I don't think he holds a candle to Davis Alexander and what's happening out in Montreal, but certainly a remarkable season from him. And just another point in his legacy, right, of a guy who keeps getting cast aside and then reinventing himself and finding success with the right team at the right moment. Yeah, that's a great point. I think that is huge. He's just found a good spot with this team, kind of the guy that they need to lead them for the next year or so. However, it may be a JC Abbott joining us here on the Jason Gregor Show Connor, how he's sitting in and you talked about the MOP there. And I was talking to Depp and Krueger, our producer here, also part of Alex Nation. And he was saying you kind of maybe throw this one there. Is it as easy as saying it's Davis Alexander for the Eastern nominee for MOP or just Tyson Filpat deserve a little bit of it to be in that conversation as well. He deserves to be in the conversation. And frankly, I'm a believer that our current voting format for these awards is archaic, right. In a 19 league to have a East Division nominee and a West Division nominee doesn't make any sense.

When the two best players in the league this year have been not just in the same division, but on the same team, right. Those guys should be recognized. You could argue that Tyson's accomplishments have been more impressive. I mean, he may well go out here and beat the CFL single season receiving Yaga record, but ultimately every single one of those yards has come as a result of Davis Alexander, right, throwing him the rock. And when you look at the rest of the Montreal offense and the number two receiver in the league right now is Tyler Sneed, his teammate. I think that points you back in the direction of Davis and what he's been able to accomplish. So that's, that's where my vote would go in the East and Tyson Filpat. Well, just have to accept the most outstanding Canadian award as a consolation prize. Okay, some other games this weekend and they'll be very important for those teams, especially stamps, bombers, riders, allowets, but now you got the BC Lions at home hosting the win list red blacks, 015 on this season.

If you had to give me a reason because Elks fans wanted to happen for Ottawa to win. What would it be? Well, how could this happen? The law of large numbers, I guess, right, I think on paper, there is no reasonable way to see the the Iowa red blacks winging this game, but we've never seen a win list team over an 18 game schedule in the CFL for a reason. It's because it's incredibly hard to do, you know, it takes not only a bad football team, but a lot of bad luck as well. And the Ottawa red blacks have had that now. Could the BC Lions come out here, get caught napping against a week, a opponent and give up some points. Bad bounce goes the other way and all of a sudden, Ottawa wins. Yeah, I mean, it's hypothetically possible. I think when you're looking at that, though, the reason why this might not be your typical trap game for BC is a they can clinch a playoff spot with a win.

So they've got something wriggling on the result of this game. Be, you know, offensively last week, they didn't score touchdown. So they're very moga vega to clean that up and come out with more fire. They've got something driving them and see they got caught napping a little bit against Ottawa. So they've got time, these two teams play and went down 14 to three in that game and they had to come back and eventually blow the red blacks out. So they've seen what can happen if you don't take them seriously reg off the bat. I think all of those factors are going to compound to the BC Lions, you know, blowing the doors off Ottawa in this game. So looking ahead to tomorrow should be a fun one out in Winnipeg who comes in. I believe a slight favorites hosting the stamp Peter is what are you looking forward for to in this one and who you think comes away with the win. I'm on the stamps in this game and I'm looking forward to seeing Veronaibs junior continue what's been a really impressive stretch of play the last couple of weeks. He was almost perfect in that upset win over Saskatchewan and you know, there's just no elements of this blue bomber's team that I trust.

Right now I know Zach Collaris is coming back into the lineup after missing last two weeks with a Hagen tree. But I'm not sure he's that much of an upgrade over Drew Brown to be entirely frank. I think that offense has struggled all year regardless of who's been under center. I think Tommy Condell has struggled committing to break all of our in the run game, even though all of ours had success when he's been given the touches. And so that makes me skeptical of the offense and then the defense was just abysmal against Montreal and they've had a number of games like that this season. If VA can perform like he did last week against Saskatchewan in the week before against Ottawa, then look out because this could be a high flying game for the stamp eagles and they can clinch a playoffs, but with a victory which which frankly when they got blowing out and back to back games by Edmonton, you know, I didn't think was going to be possible for them. I thought they were destined to miss the playoffs. They've turned around and they seem to be peaking at the right time.

Jay see, what do you make of the allowets to wrap up the season? I know there was a couple tough losses, one to the Lions and you know, travel could have played a role in that. That's a cross country flight. But you got the two games against the riders. Then the R goes. Obviously, we know how good they are and I think keep maintaining your focus for the full season can be tough, especially when you clinch a playoffs bot that early. But what do you think Jason Moss has for the guys heading into the final three games of the regular season? Well, it's it's a delicate balance, right? And it's one of the Montreal allowets know very well because back in 2024 coming off their break up victory, they Dominic in the East Division, all season, they wrapped it up really early and then they hosted over the last stretch of the year and you know, rested too many guys too often. They weren't ready for the post season and they got upset by the Toronto Argonauts who of course went on to win that Cup in 2024. So they know the mistake to avoid and I think Jason Moss is going to have this team fired up. I think Davis Alexander is going to have this team fired up regardless.

And the nice thing for them at least is there's still at least statistical stakes at play when you talk about something like Tyson Philbot, right. He's got a pace to uphold to potentially make history. You know, Davis Alexander is on a torrid pace and it's looking to pad that that MOP resume now the balance will be for Jason Moss. How much do you you know give them leeway to chase those numbers versus make sure that they're healthy for the season. I think you need to have a tight leash a quick hook on those guys, but I don't expect them to rest guys meaningfully this week. I would think it maybe starts next week, but certainly the last week of the regular season is where I would I would expect some of those guys to get sat down. Yeah, they're going to know that balance within their locker room of who who needs it and who doesn't because they've been in this position before. JC before we let you go here, just want to get your thoughts. Obviously we're now far into the season final three weeks before we get into the playoffs. So we've saw the slight rule changes this season more to come, but what have you thought of the state of the CFL the overall game with the tweaks we've seen.

I think it's been fantastic this year, you know, the rule changes that came into effect this year were always ones that I was in favor of right the clock rule. I think has had a tremendous effect on the excitement of football games. We always talked about the 22nd clock in the CFL, but it's always been the biggest misnomer in sports because of how that's been regulated by the referees and the big gaps in between plays at times when they're when they're when they're whistling things in. This is solved that issue. It's brought the tempo of play up a ton and as a result teams are utilizing that to put defenses under pressure and wear them down more, which has resulted in more scoring. So that's a big success story for the CFL huge cougars to them there. You know, I am skeptical about some of the changes that will be made next year, right. I've always loved the 50 yard line. I 55 yard line. Sorry. I don't understand the shrinking of the field and you know ambivalent at best on the moving of the goalposts, but I wonder if you know it's certainly not going to improve scoring in my mind.

The CFL thinks it will raise the number of touchdowns, which it might do, but you're going to lose some field goals as a result. So I have some questions about why that was necessary, what effect it's going to have on the game, but the version that we've seen this year. Well, it's been almost perfect football to me in my estimation and hopefully we see the trend continue despite the seismic shifts that are going to occur next year. Yeah, it's going to make it interesting. It's going to look a whole lot different, but I'm with you this year. I think it's been fantastic. I've loved the game clock and looking forward to seeing it, but lots of football to be played before we get to that. So JC, thanks so much for doing the state really appreciate it and enjoy the weekend's played a games. Thanks for having me on, guys. There you go. JC Abbott covering the CFL with three down nation.com. It's going to be a fun one. We're only an hour and, say 17, maybe a little bit longer, 22 minutes. I respect the guy who says I'm a CFL expert. I don't want you NFL till the great cup. Yeah, I mean, if you're really going to dive in and cover the entirety of the league, you got to stay locked in, right? So it does make a lot of sense to just own in on the CFL.

And really it's only a couple months. I mean, we'll be done CFL season by mid-Aug, mid November. You got the last seven eight weeks of the NFL season. Then you're scouting plenty of time for Chargers football. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Come on, man. Plenty of time for me to look to the future. Really far into the future. He didn't have a point until game seven of the regular season. And he still scored 95 points. I read a thing. Now a granted it was just a quick tick talk, but Connor and Leon and Bouchard are on pace for 350 points. Total or each together. Okay. I mean, come on. Yeah. I don't believe it. Give me a break. The man possesses about as much intestinal fortitude as a wet paper towel and an Alberta blizzard as much spine as a warm bowl of diner tapioca. But as much sheer courage as a ground squirrel eyeballing a combine harvester on the yellow head. A total lightweight. Cast your minds back. Last thing is doing Friday, right here on the air. A simple live read. The copy I handed him to was straight from the heart and

what did our resident radio tough guy do? He wept. A complete puddle. Remember that Connor? No. You remember that deck then? The water works. Cried. Wept openly. Like the entire city did watching Steve Smith face a buck off ground fear seal back in 86. Bald. Like we all did watching the Empton Elk drop. What was it? 22 straight home games at Commonwealth. Total misery. And so what does Jason Gregor, our self-annoyed macho man decide to do? He pulls full blown Houdini vanishes into thin air. Poof, gone. Not on the show today. Escaped right out the studio door. And I'd even wager at the amazing Crescan. Remember him? Couldn't locate him with a crystal ball and a map of Sherwood Park. What a lightweight. And the complete tragedy comedy of it all is he ruined my segment today. Completely sabotaged it because today and only today I had every intention of offering a sincere heartful thank you for welcoming me onto the sports 1440 team. It is pretty darn neat. Wheeling down Jasper Ave,

a rolling down the sidewalk and having a complete stranger holler that they hear what we do on the radio. And better yet they actually enjoy it. The engine driving me to keep sitting behind this microphone is remarkably simple. Somewhere out there a young mother or father holding a child with a disability might hear this broadcast and they might think to themselves if Taylor can do it. Happy Thanksgiving my friend Connor, don't you dare start crying. Counting eights, two minute warning. I'm just trying to fight off coffee. That wasn't you crying? No. No. A little little sip of my drink here. I thought you were getting veclamped. No, I'm those are great words. And I'm sure Taylor if he wanted to could bring me to tears. But I've long said like he just got to show me like certain things to make me tear up. Like movies don't typically do it. Chargers highlights. No. Chargers having make wish kids join their

progress. They're practice. That'll do it. That's my weakness. That's your weakness. Or like those compilations of people like restoring your faith in humanity. Those types of things will get me a little teary eyed. But that was a great two minute warning. That's a great two minute warning. And Taylor, yes. I think you are an inspiration to a lot of people out there who you know grew up with the disability. Hasn't held you back. Absolutely. And your parents too. I've heard the stories. I've heard them. So, Cam, thank you for that. Appreciate the two minute warning as usual. Text line one eight three three four one fourteen forty. Brandon from Victoria. My co-workers all hate the oilers. But everyone is always whistling the brass bananas every Friday afternoon. 100% 100% is great. Dude, positive Fridays here on the Jason Gregor show. That's okay. A lot of these text rolling in here that anti-charger talk. Well, a couple anti-chargers. And someone don't really get on our tell Chris Bob here. And 11 and seven doesn't look so good now. Does it? Bob, I don't know what that means. Doesn't look good to me either. I mean, we've all talked about 11 and seven. Isn't necessarily a great strategy. Stridey told us the fence been don't like it. I think if you're the centerman in the 11 that you get to rotate and play a little bit more, you might think it's okay. Unless your cardio vascular is being tested. They might not love it. EG taking a shot at the chargers quarterbacks. It's signed a Cowboys fan. I like your quarterback, EG. I'm a fan of Dak Prescott. I think he's a good dude. I think he's a good quarterback too. His tight end has to catch that football at the end of the game. That's not his fault. Did you see that video him walking through the bowels of the stadium in the arena at Stafford Sherpter when he just turned back and looked embarrassing. Oh, yeah. I didn't do think the guys like

said the quiet part loud. Yeah, part quiet. I didn't think he'd hear me. He's two feet away from you when I said it. That a little bit too loud. And he explained it afterwards. Just kind of saying like looked back at him and I think if you're going to say it, say it to me. I mean, they got kind of did. You wouldn't catch me talking crazy like that to Dak Prescott. Look, if you just slipped out of your mouth, right? Like that was embarrassing. Or like you're talking to a coworker and then you look over and there's the franchise player like, uh oh. Remember it wrecks our place how you could stand outside the dressing room. People would hurl themselves. They're crazy depending on the game. I like we maybe did that once. Like I had taken us down there a few times, but it's like they can walk past and what what do I care? It's cool as a kid to see it for sure, but Streddy would told the stories like he would try to line up behind like Horkov. So they would sure pork off for his contract. And let's let's Streddy walk right past really. Yeah. It's so great that you could just yell. I yelled at Jordan. Everly one time. I love you Jordan. And he started laughing. What a moment we had together. I wonder if in the new design, they talked to the players and they're like, yeah,

no hallway past a bar. You have to think that that was like one of the worst things about the decade of darkness was that all the people just sat in the third having Rex all beers waiting for you to come. Yeah. Well, that would be it, right? Maybe you'll just start the game. Like, let's go boys. Second intermission, three nothing or whatever. Three or four, five, six beers consumed. Like it's a little more real at that point. A flawed design. My colleague Zach Langan, I were at Rex all plays for the final media availability as they were taking the building down. And so they're giving us a tour and it was cool to see the old dressing room, right? Like the SWAT team of the EPS have been practicing inside the stadium. So we're bullet casings everywhere. So cool. Crazy. We went up in the media row, looked through the remnants of a collapsed society. Like it looked like the world had ended. Did you been to the media row before? Uh, they're yes. Yeah, it's cool. But I was the last guy to my knowledge corner to stand behind the bar at that downstairs bar. And I just put my hands on the table and tried to like summon the vibes of all the amazing

nights. Edmontonians had down there. That was the funnest place in town. We occasionally after games would go down there. I was there once and my friend threw his phone into my beer. Don't know how it happened. Phone in my beer onto the ground splashed everywhere. Looks like I just dropped my beer. So I get all the looks like what your blackberries in my cup. Blackberry. Yeah. A bold. This is the time was a smaller one. Yeah, the world was like what did you just do? But you're right. That's like that's a good time. Great time. Well, hang out down below and maybe finish your drink and then cross the street. There's a couple bars. Get you to and then as you went out to go up the escalator out, there was the Chad booth. Yeah, doing the post game show with a little tiny window. And whoever was in there was just suffering abuse. The amount of people I saw like bang on the window or worse on their way out. So such a badly designed place to put your post game show. That whole area was just in hindsight poorly designed. Well, I think it was an after the fact thing. Like when they originally designed the stadium, I don't think they intended there to be like a concourse level down there.

It was just the mid-level concourse on the top. When I was doing oil kings games, Cory would do his post game for the oil kings from that studio. So I have to go down set it up and after the game, we'd go down and you know, you'd see all the parents and the girlfriends waiting outside. And we got to like be all cool and sneak fast and go into the the bowels. Is that what they call it? Oh yeah, the bowels so cool. It was a cool spot. A great, great area. RIP to the call of CM. Truly. We'll take our break here.
