The harvest is in and it's hauntingly good. Greenlight's haunted harvest is packed with incredible deals that'll make every visit a treat. The best Can of Esteeles always at GreenlightDispensary.com where Integrity Matters go to EasternRoofing.com for more. I don't know if that match up to the conclusion of the morning show. You like that? It's even really likes that new Greta Rampey song. And his family hates it. You know, I don't know if I really like it that much because when they were both singing it, I was like, oh, Steven's kind of
shrieking over the lyric. No, he sings it like that. And then I was like, then I heard him just singing. I'm like, ain't Robert Plant. No. Nobody is. Right. So it's like, that was a little screechy. I like the music about it. But I like them. I like them. All right. You like them. All right. Yeah. You're going to go to that show next year. I doubt it. Oh, now you're not going to go. You don't like them? I don't like them. I don't like them for 150 bucks. I'll say that. Come on, man. Money's nothing to you. Oh, yeah. I don't like anybody from me. I'm made of money. That's me. That's you. Tycoon. You're, you're some piling up the bucks from radio. Yeah, exact casting. That's how it works. That's the way to do it. Yeah, that's exactly how it works. Right. That is, that's how we need to treasure our time here together on Unleash because I won't be here next week. I won't either. That's right. Yeah. Well, we always treasure our time here. But how we see chocolate petro, we see each other so much anyway. So, Curtis, you got to do the three o'clock hour next week. Curtis Unleash, damn.
I am always unleashed. I'm headed to the place of my birth. Brattleboro. Brattleboro. Brattleboro. Never been there. What's it mean? Oh, you have been there, obviously, ten months, ten months. What is a battle? I don't know what the derivation of the town is. All the bros, just all I know is that it's the way that my first book opened, by the way, the second is expected to be out by the end of the year. You're going to get two books down before Jake gets one. I am. Yeah, and this is kind of two books in one. But anyway, the book starts with my conversation. It's about when I was a little baby. And I was born in Brattleboro. So I was at the final four one year. And Tom Brennan had turned it, you know, had transitioned into being an announcer. And he was the long time coach at the University of Minnesota. I mean, not University of Vermont. And famously, on those Saturday mornings, they'd always win the tournament. Anyway, I figured, you know,
what? I'll talk to Tom and see if, you know, because I'd never been back to Brattleboro. It was a depressed industrial town. Eventually, I guess. And it wasn't supposed to be much. And so I went up to him and I said, Tom, I'm Danny Klink's Gale. I always enjoyed your team's play. And I like your work in announcing. I said, I know you had to recruit all around the state of Vermont. And I said, I was born in Brattleboro. And but I'd never been back. He goes, oh, you don't know. It need to go to that blankety blank place. It's a dump. And so that's the story. It started my book. Anyway, like three years ago, we were watching CBS Sunday Morning. And they did a feature on Tom Bo-Dett. Oh, really? Right. See from here? Well, you know, I leave the light on for you. Actually, I think he's from Alaska originally. Anyway, he lives in Brattleboro. And they showed him at his home and everything. It looked kind of lovely. So we did. It was the light on. It did a little research. It was there in your day. The feature was. And it turns out that over the last 15 years or so, there's been influx of money in there. And they've tried
all these beautiful. And they've turned all these industrial buildings into like arts and crafts places. And it's like listed as the top 10 bookstore town in America. That's right. Up here, Alan. So we're going to go there a couple days. You know how to read? You know how to go there for a couple days. So it's, you know, I'm going to see my mom after that. But I'm going to try to talk to her this week and see if she possibly remembers our address in Brattleboro. She's got to have some little gas bills. She's kept. I don't know, but you know, we didn't live there very long. So we did keep, we did have friends from Bennington, which was the next place we lived Vermont. So it's sure Anthony Sherman is from North Adelboro. That's Massachusetts. There's Adelboro's and Brattleboro's. Brattleboro is basically on the border of New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. It's right there. It's right in the corner there. And it's the corner prime foliage area. Oh yeah. Seeing that you're going to, it's going to be the foliage is already turned. It's still going to be beautiful when you're there.
I hope so. They had a big storm rip through there last weekend and my mother emailed me. Had a noraster and she was a little concerned that leaves might have get torn up. So I'm sure it'll still be beautiful. But so I'm looking forward to that. That'll be fun. You know, they say you never can go home again, Todd. We'll see what happens. You can go home again. But I was talking to Drake last Sunday at the ballpark and he said that he had done sort of the same thing and gone back to the place in Fultonwood Hold and he said, I wish I never did. He said that if people hadn't kept very good care of the house. And so he was sort of a cautionary tale. I always go home to independence. That's true. The arms are open. Curtis, you're always welcome and ready. I I've been there a number of times. I usually go by whenever I'm coming back for the ball box sometimes if I have spare time, I'll just instead of getting on the freeway, I'll just drive up Raytown Road or Blue Ridge Cutoff and head up and go by the old house. Every once in a while, I will drive by my Denise and my our old house and independence when I'm up on 291. We live there.
But I have not driven back by my parents house since my dad moved out and that's almost a month ago. But I've been back. I've been there since we had a state sale and all the sale and stuff like that. But I just I don't know why I just haven't been right up there. But then I was like, I don't know if I want to drive by. It's a year that's a different one. I had a bad sort of a bad-ish experience that way too. My parents lived in the house I eventually grew up in. I moved. I was the oldest. So I experienced all of the moves my dad did as a young, disjockey. And I lived in like seven places for six years of my life. Then we lived for a few years in Hopkins and where the Boston Marathon starts and then moved to Framingham and my parents lived in the same house. We moved to then for until three years ago for like a long, long time. So anyway, the last time I was home, it was from my dad's funeral and I just was driving back to our Airbnb and I said, and was fairly close to Brookvale Road. Good old Brookvale Road. So I said, hey, I think I'm going to go up here and see how
these people are treating the house and whatever. So I went up and I didn't know it, but the guy was out walking his dog. And so I just wandered into the backyard and looked around and they had done very nicely by our home. So it was fine. Then I come walking out and I'm on this man's property face. Who are you? And he comes walking up with his dog and I said, hi, I'm Danny Klingscale. This is my boyhood home. I grew up here. This guy couldn't care less. Get off my property. He was like, he's like, oh, okay. Nice to meet you. When should kind of be excited? Get off my property. Anyway, we'll see how we'll see how old Braddleboro treats me. So by the way, I'm seeing a couple of things. Braddleboro is named after Colonel William J. or William Brattle, Jr. prominent Boston landowner and grantee named in the town's original 1753 charter. Bill Brattle. Oh, Bill Brattle. Oh, Bill Brattle. Thank you, Curtis. That increases my knowledge of Brattleboro about eightfold right there. One time Brattleboro said, no, not Bill Brattle.
And I saw an article says here, see Brattleboro has a thriving arts community. It was listed in John Villani's book, the 100 best small towns in America, in which it was ranked number nine. Number nine. Arts towns with a population of 30,000 or less. The lowest recent census 12,106. So you're there. Yeah, it'll be 12,108. Yeah, it looked like the hotel we're staying in a historical hotel and it kind of looks like a hotel we stayed at in Livingston, Montana when we visited there a couple years ago. This picture looks like a small, new England town. This is not the level I've seen many pictures of it now. Yes. Where's that new England? I don't know, that doesn't bring us to the excitement of chiefs raiders this week. You know, you asked Adam Hill this and I was trying to think of the last truly significant. I think the one was, and this is before Adam started covering the team, but in 2016, the raiders came to Arrowhead. It was a Thursday night game, I think. And Derek Carr was like MVP candidate, whatever. And what I
remember, I remember a couple things about that night, but one thing we'll talk about on the raiders were they were good. They were very good. And the chiefs won and Derek Johnson popped his Achilles. And I remember looking at him out there on the feeling, like, is this the last time Derek Johnson's going to play? Now, he came back and played the next year, but they beat the raiders pretty good. And then the next like week or two, this was the late game. It was like maybe December, then the raiders, he got hurt. Yeah, he made the playoffs and Brian Hoyer or somebody like that played the playoff games for them. And they played the Texans, I think, and they didn't win the playoff game because Derek Carr was playing great. And the chiefs had a really nice game against him. And you know, they beat him. It was a Thursday night. And it was, I mean, it was cold. Yep. Out there. Raiders were wearing the the silvery numbers. I think the chief for playing up had the red red on maybe. And I think a Tyree kill 78 yard touch star or punt return touchdown to put him up 21-3 in the raiders kind of battled back. But yeah,
I think it was the last second, the last game of the year. He broke his ankle. Yeah. Derek Carr did against maybe the cold. Sir, somebody or something like that. And then they lost to the Broncos. The chiefs were 10 and three in neighbor 10 and three. I mean, that's a big game. You're talking about a December game with 210 and three teams. It is amazing that these two teams are three and oh in the same season for the first time ever. Yeah. I mean, raising that is. Is that picture I remember of Derek Johnson just sitting there going, dude, can't get up. Is this the 3D? Yeah. Well, it was Connor Cook. Connor Cook. The, uh, now, I think a lot of people don't know. I mean, the chiefs were bad for a long time. The raiders have been bad for a long time but also they probably played each other in the first three games a few times. Yeah. Right. So you know, you could, the last time they met even, uh, undefeated after week two was 1995. The game that era had James Hastie, the day that Patrick Moves was born. Well, was somebody have a tie? No, they were, they were both 2 and 0 and 2 and
2 and 1. Yeah, but that's that's the only one of only I think four other times that they were even 2 and 0 when they met. Mm hmm. And it was 31 years ago. So this is pretty cool. It's my point. So you're talking about 10 years ago. Now that was week 15 or 14 of the season. But this, I mean, the raiders have had nothing going on. They just, they've, and now they look like a legitimate football team and they've got some good parts to them. I don't know about you, Danny Curtis. And I talked about this show. I think I think the chiefs just don't play dumb football. They should win the game. I would agree with that. I, you know, you don't come as far as the raiders have come as far as record is concerned this quickly from the depths of, you know, misbehaving organization. Clearly they have some things in place that are better now. I do think they have a good coach. I think, uh, but some guys who probably seem like promising coaches went there and saw their careers, sent sideways or backwards. Uh, so we'll see. But yeah, I think I still think the chiefs
are the better football team and should win and it will still be probably be a better home environment than it's been for Las Vegas for the last few years, but it still will probably be. Chief fans made their plans and may they bought these teams. Yeah. And so there was no raiders fever already at this time. Now this is a much nicer story to me than, you know, it's unfortunate. I would always be really feeling good for the Cleveland Browns right now, but, but no, no, and no. Yeah. If somebody else was playing quarter past that'd be, that'd be a fun story. That'd be a nice story. That's that's about as long suffering. I think Browns fans have had it worse than Jets fans. And that's bad. It just gets more attention. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the Browns have been one of the most franchises and well, just the whole choice to to paid to Sean Watson when they knew all the things that had happened and to give him a guaranteed
contract was it's ass and I stupid. You know, the Browns last won the division. One division. 1980. I was going to say the 80s. Yeah. The year of the Mardi Schott and Hamden came here. Bud Carson. Yeah. They won the division. They lost in the conference championship game at Denver. They have not won a division title since the Houston Oilers have won a division title since the Cleveland Browns won a division title. And they have been a team. They haven't been 30 years. Bud Carson part of the sort in history of both the Jets and the Browns. Yeah. And the chiefs. You know, it's still early in the year, but the I watched, you know, the first the chief played on Monday night football. So I let's watch a lot of football on that Sunday, red zone and all that stuff. And every time I turn, they flip to the to the Browns, getting boatraised by the Jags. I was like, oh, this is the worst team in the league. This is just a trotious how bad they were. So I will give them credit. I think Monkan is obviously good higher. And maybe one of the teams was looking like they hired the wrong guy in that game last
night. Although, who's the coach? But, but they, they have, they've listened. They've, they haven't been dominant wins that they won, but they've won games and they haven't done that before. That division's going to be an interesting one to watch because I, the stand was, I listen to stand this morning. He did not offend a Mike McCarthy, okay? Because he failed, stands precious cowboys, you know? But he's like, it's over for the series. The franchise is toast. This is the worst hire they've gone from such a strong coach with Tom and from Cower, from Noel and all that. So that, yeah, that place is good to see he was being treated with respect by his quarterback. That places the mess. The Browns, I think, maybe have a good coach, but it's still a mess, right? Because they don't still, they won't like him. Many people just won't like to Sean Watson up there, even if he wins. The Ravens have a, have a new coach. And you know, the Bengals, I think probably get fires, that tailor, if they did something special that didn't happen, a lot of people thought he would get fired last year. That division is a
flux. I had to check, you know, a few days ago, it's like, is Taylor still there? Yeah. He survived all this. He made the Super Bowl, but he's only made the playoffs a couple times. Yeah, but think about that. I, I'm asked this question before we're referenced to, to Joe Burrow, who is one of the few reasons I would root for Cincinnati. I actually like him quite a bit. But if Tyree Kill gets into the end zone on the final play of the first half in the 21 AFC Championship game, what is, what is Joe Burrow? Yeah. What is Zach Taylor? Not even necessarily that. They're about 40 plays in a second half to change that game to first and goal at the inside the 10 yard line with them with them in and left. What if they punched it in? What is Joe Burrow? He's never made a Super Bowl. Then I mean, Zach Taylor probably did a job anymore. Yeah, he's, I mean, just one play could have meant the difference between him still having a job. That's one of the weirdest halves of football that Chiefs have played with Patrick Holmes in Andy Reed. But that, I mean, that's how you get your legacies. You make a play and
one thing happens and you, you, all of a sudden, you're a Super Bowl quarterback. By the way, if I'm the Las Vegas Raiders, I would just have a cart ready during the game because for all the Chiefs fans who think that, you know, officials, everybody hates them, whatever, every game. I don't know who has it, who has the voodoo doll out there. But every game, the one of the best players on the opposing team gets hurt. That's that the new script. Do it that way. And it happened again last week. I mean, it's like, and not just looking play. It's unbelievable. Yeah. I'm like, really again, A-Shan, the only guy they have, he's gone. And they brought another Oli Gordnayn and he got hurt for a moment and they had a wide receiver in the backfield. Right. Right. I'm like, they were out. What is happening here? By the way, looking at a fight in other fun stat, uh, it's 17 times, the Chiefs and Raiders have met in a season which both teams went to the postseason. Last time was 21.
Before that was 16. Before that was 1993. Oh, although in the last time, the Raiders won one of those games was December 13th, 1969. Well, it would be good if they won the Chiefs of Winstead. The last game with the season, they went to Chiefs went to Oakland, lost 10 to 6. They would have been a more important game. Gary Collins, Holly and a touchdown pass in that one. Let's see. Who was their quarterback then? Oh, uh, Collins. Is that what this is? This is a six or nine Raiders. Oh, I know, but I do. Oh, uh, Darryl, Monica, through one to Charlie Smith. Oh, Chuck Smith. I remember him. Windel Hayes, uh, one of our tonny number 23. Mm-hmm. Charlie Smith, I think. Good. Good call. Thank you. But, um, that was the last time the Raiders beat the Chiefs and it's in a season at which both teams made the postseason. The Chiefs of 112 and a row. Yeah. So I think the Chiefs win the game. I do too, but I think it's going to be a good win if they win. I, they play like they did last week. They'll lose. Well, the Chief, I've watched the Raiders play in the Raiders play like that. Right. You know, we watched the Chiefs
down the stretch last year. There was zero confidence when they went on the field. You know, especially like once Gardner, Mince, you got hurt, a quarter into their game at Tennessee or whatever it was. I mean, there was just, they were just flat. And I've watched a lot of flat Raiders teams over the years. And I've been watching them this year and they look like they've got their gauge. They're engaged. They're engaged. They've got energy. And that's not like the most important part of the whole thing, but it's part of it. Sure it is. I think they, you know, they've got a young coach. Most people think is a young bright coach and these players know that he'll, he's not going to get canned after one year because he's been handed, you know, seemingly a possible job, which he's doing very well. So they are out to impress him. You know, they're, they're many of them are borderline national football league players. So that's one of the things that Adam was talking about last segment, you know, last hour, you know, they're still building towards what's going to happen next year. This right now is gravy. Now listen, they want to win.
And they've kind of made the best with Max Crosby coming back and all that stuff, but they, I thought that was kind of a, it's been such a joke of a franchise and, you know, Kubiak was first time head coach and I'm like, wow, you know, you're throwing him into the lion's pit here with Sean Payton and Andy Reed. And I used to think Jim Harpall, but that looks like that ship has sailed at this point. It's been tough sledding for coaches to come into division. No question. Really hard with Andy Reed being there. And then whoever they put, for a long time, it was just Andy Reed. That was the only bit of challenge there was. I used to look this up every year and was, you know, in the Fangilhack at Nancy Lynn and whoever were the coaches, Josh McDaniels coming in, coming back all these things. And you could add up all the years of coaching experience and it still wouldn't be what Andy Reed had. Like three guys wouldn't be Andy Reed. Yeah, took him for the franchise to get serious and to hire potential Hall of Fame coaches to, you know,
mounted challenge to the chiefs. Yeah, and listen, sometimes you may find, you know, with, listen, when Andy Reed got hard and filled up, he's like, why are you hiring this guy? So, right, but that's a little lower percentage to hit the home run on the kid that it is to, oh, hit a solid single the right field. Well, like, the better than chiefs, they were, you know, they just do it was a fantastic timing for them. Andy Reed wanted to coach again. And they were in a good enough position that, you know, went, but he needed a coach for one draft choice and, you know, they went after him hard and got him and it was the wise move, proven winner. You know, guys like that really nobody, no coach really tends to win for that long and just forget what they're doing. It's no real surprise. It's because a few years before Peyton's winning the chiefs tried the, you know, hot shot kid route with Todd Haley, right, in a fail. Yeah, there was early success second year, but it quickly began to fall apart. Well, I think it does show how the chiefs felt about where they were as a franchise, which they felt
was good. Does that mean the chiefs didn't have a dreadful record under him? No, I mean, he didn't Romeo Cranella. I'm on it. When they were just a couple games under 500, the season they fired him. Yeah, they were seven and nine, but he had lost your organization almost looked like he was intentionally trying to lose when he was playing Tyler Paco and they had Kyle Orton ready to go. It's interesting that the dynamic between my homes and read and that it's, you could mount a, maybe just it's a fantastic situation for the chiefs. You could mount a pretty good argument on either side of which one depends on is has been benefited from the other more. Everyone thinks that my homes is a great, he came into a great system and a great offensive coordinator ready to go Bing Bang Bong, but how much different would Andy Reed's career have been if they had not taken Patrick my homes and they tried to go on finding the Alex Smiths and whether they still, they still would have been a good team. Yeah, but they wouldn't even have even a championship. I don't
know. Probably, probably not. It's amazing how much you got to have them both. Yeah, you got to and they managed to get them both and so many times they've tried to get those two things to click in this town for that 50 year gap. So that happened in 32 towns. Yeah, and then they had it click in the most amazing fashion imaginable. Yeah, it's been, yeah, I mean, they've been occasionally slightest of dust ups mostly with Eric B. Enemy, but I never, I remember seeing Andy Reed call his quarterback an A-hole on the sideline that you could clearly see what he was saying last night. Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah. Wasn't that what he said? Yeah, that was right. Clip plain his day. Yes. So anyway, well, so we're really, really playing pretty good. What Roger said. I didn't, I didn't get what he said because I was only watching Highlight. They weren't getting the plane. Oh, I know that. But he said, yeah, yeah, that was, I mean, that was clearly showing up your coach. He's the play caller. Is he not calling the place for them?
I think he is. And you're saying, come on, dummy. Get me to get me a play in here. Yeah, it's been good to be a cheese fan. Yeah, yeah. And it was bad to be a cheese fan for a long time. Well, it's been good to be a cheese fan. Well, how about this little segway, Todd? Curtis, how good is it going to be to be a Tiger fan tomorrow? Should we check that out coming up next, Todd? It's, it'll be, I'm as usual, I'll be setting watching the game with both arms full to go in. Freddie growling. Just like I was when I was watching Game 7 on the World Series in 14. By the way, Roger said, what the F call it was what he was like, what the blank call it? Why don't you call it like you don't like this going what you're 49 years old. What the blank call it? Good times. Good times. Yeah. Danny Kling scale is here. He is unleashed. And we're going to, we'll unleash charges next. Let's do that. Yeah, unleash the Tiger next on the program.
All right, the Twin Peaks end of the hour answer. Who is the Raiders career leader in head coaching when I got this right away, Danny? It's John Med. It is. Yeah. By 20, one hundred three was a coach for not the song, not the new song. That's not the new song. 103 wins 103 and 32 and seven for a seven 60. How many years with Josh McDaniel have to coach the Raiders to get that? Oh, like 20 wins ahead of Tom Flores. Quite a bit. By the way, I ranked the Raiders all, all their 25 coaches. How many years? He was three and 14. He was three and 14. He was three and 14. He had to get the head. He got three years. And let's see who you asked about. Josh Medianos was nine and 16. That's so big. I ranked all 25 of their coaches by win percentage. The worst coach ever was a game built concrete, who was one and eight. Second, his predecessor, Marty Feldman. Oh, Feldman. Not that one. You sure? Yes. You sure about that? He was on the sidelines
with his eyes, bugging out. Everything was. It's one more. They were very good. They were two and 15. Third worst. The only only other coach to be under 200 in his tenure. Pete Carroll, three and 14. And Ignominius. So so Clint Coupiac is already one of his many games in span of about 16 days a month as Pete Carroll did a short, higher season. Danny Klingck scale is here. Unleashed brought you by Eastern roofing. And we had some rain probably maybe time to check the roofs. We did. And we've had a lot of hail recently. So Eastern roofing is the company you need to call get up on their roof. They're up on mine. It's it's also holiday season holiday light season. Oh, I did see signs after that. It's time. They've got gutter cleaning also. So all kinds of good things going on at Eastern roofing. So Eastern roofing.com. They'll show you what your house would look like after they put the work in. Friendly people. You'll talk to real people. You can talk to Joe. It was a matter of fact. Give him a break right now. I'm going to give Joe self-lumber all right. I'm not doing that, Joe. How many people's you know, I think the only
phone number I actually know anymore is my wife's. You know a number? Yeah, I mean, I know a few. Do you? Are they from back in the day? Yeah, mostly like people who when I used to call guests, right? Because you had to dial the phone numbers. I know some of those numbers. But I know my wife's. I know if you tell the gun to my head, which please don't do that, I couldn't with certainty tell you my kids phone numbers. I mean, I could tell you my dad's. I could tell you the phone number of my best friend when I was a little kid. Of course. Yeah. He's house. Yeah. His house. That's back when you had 4 or 5 digits back then. You have 7 digits back then. You know, we didn't call Columbia to 7,000 or the party. The party line in the in the country. Glad to get me Dr. Jones Fleming 6, 7, 9, 1, 0 and Bill get off the party line. Yeah, I know. I know my wife's. I know my dad's. I know my brothers because it's a very easy one.
So I don't know. I don't actually even though we talk in text many, many times per week, I do not actually know. Joe, I think I might be able to sum it up the last 4 digits. I do know the last 4 digits of Joe Spiker from Eastern Roofing. But anyway, he'll talk to you. They'll put you through to him. Yeah. He gets up on roofs himself or I don't think he's cleaning any gutters now right now, but he probably would. So anyway, it's a great company. Great people and he's a great person to lead the company with integrity, which is what they're slogan in is and I can personally vouch for the fact that that is true. I know. I know my phone number when I was a kid. I always remember that one. I know five of them. I was a good no ours and and about four my neighbors. Yeah, I remember those and then like, it's just weird. I think I kind of know Syren's number. It's an easy number to get some repeats in it. Yeah, I don't know your number. I write down every guest phone number that we're going to have on the phone line except Jeff Passons because it's so easy. I remember you remember that. I know Trent Green's number. It's a very easy phone number. Yeah,
we're not telling your number out here. But you know, while what we need to do is not know much bishops phone number. So much should get a new phone. Wow. I love munch too, but he sounds like he's munching his phone. Well, you know, he doesn't like to Sean Watson. Well, good. That's good. So Danny, uh, grill Curtis about these tigers. Curtis, uh, no, what's what do you think the vibe is of of tiger fans going into this game? I certainly think they have every opportunity to win the game. I think I would probably pick, I will pick Florida if asked, but I don't think it, you know, Missouri's in a bad way, but I think Florida probably will score too many points for the tigers to keep up. But it's not like it's in any kind of impossible tasks. They have a good football team. But what's I don't think tiger fans are very optimistic heading into this one. I don't really, I don't know that many. I haven't really
heard much positive or negative about this game. If I was a Missouri fan, the way I kind of view it, if you are, I mean, I'm see if I was, if I was a spokesperson for Missouri fans, the way I kind of view, uh, the situation from last week to this week is last week was certainly a situation where the front there was frustration and not checking off a box and not caching something in that you haven't done before and really had a great opportunity to do so. Winning on the road against a ranked team to have come back from 14 nothing to take the lead and have the ball in the fourth corner and let that game slip away. It's, it's a disappointment, but there's, there are positives to be taken from it. I think they look better last week and losing that game than they did the previous week in beating Troy. I agree with that. The passing game came back. That, because that was, to me, that's, that's a big thing coming into this week, which I'll give it the reason for it a second, but the positive is that they came from 14 down. They didn't fall apart on the road. They took to lead. Even when they lost it, they still drove down the field or in position
to tie the game late. So I think they got to feel at least decent about that. What I like about scoring points is that Florida is very middle of the pack defensively and they're particularly they're well below the middle of the pack and past defense. There are 113 that have 1338 teams, I think. And that's what the good past, yeah, and with good past rest and past defense. So I think what happened last week in Starkville with the Missouri offense is going to be repeated enough times tomorrow against Florida. I think they're going to score points. The thing I'm afraid of is that they let the kid who's probably going to play in the NFL on Sundays at some point, but who knew who Bothwell was for Mississippi State before last week and they couldn't tackling. He was looking like Kenneth Walker or somebody who was looking to just couldn't, the first guy never brought him down. You can't catch fluff. You can't catch fluff. Fluff Bothwell. And that wasn't a bunch of fluff. So I and yeah, that's ball is better. Yeah. And also their running game is super
creative. Yeah. It's there. Oh, see was that Georgia Tech the last three years. And you know, he's sort of had an Andy Cohen, Nikki kind of way of shifting things around and doing things. So that's the challenge. Yeah. I mean, they got run over last week. Yes. That's the possibility that Florida runs for 300 or it runs for 190 and uses that to open up the passing game against the secondary. It still seems a little confused at times, particularly on the deep balls. I think I may have said this is the first hour Taylor through a couple of passes last week. Camario Taylor that you're just like you can't defend that. The guy got the super speedy guy got behind your guy. Maybe you can get a safety over time, but he just put the ball in a guy's hands 45 yards down field. Like you're not stopping that that that pass. Well, there are other plays where you're like that there's no way that guy should be that open. So they they've still got some problems on the back end. And they really need some some pressure. I like the they've getting some they seem to do
seem to be cycling guys in who could rush the passer. And they had another one last week. He hit in three sacks. He was a SEC defensive player of the week, but they're going to do a lot of that because that my fear is that it's a 35 31 the Missouri scores points, but they just cannot stop Florida. Well, the other part is that is you know Simmons has been a mixed bag so far. I mean, he's been either good or he shows the goods and you go what was that throw? Right. And he was just playing bad in one game. Yeah, he gets Troy. And that's if he's a sophomore, it's one thing, but this is a senior and he didn't have it that much. He's he's on a season senior. But you should have gotten beyond the some of the throws him he makes, but he also makes a couple that if he goes out there tomorrow and it's 330 yards and in four touchdowns, I won't fall out of my chair because you see the arm strength and he's got two guys who can go get it. He's got a lube of days to consummate route runner and you know, chain mover. And then you've got Lee who can he's already has a nice
little guy to go with and he makes some moves that spin move. He made when he got around a guy to go in the touchdown on one of those. They just really miss it hard. He just yeah. Yeah, so good. Um, yes, listen, it's because it's it's it's it shows the difference between being you know, one A and one because Roberts was quite good as the other back. Yes. And as the lead back, he didn't look so no, and as you say, we there was a bit of a debate yesterday about this with Serena and I about that how good Roberts is doing and how he looked a year ago. It isn't just that he is taking hardy stamps. It's just there's no one to be Roberts. Yeah. And you know, Dishonored words got some moves, but he's not super deep right now. Everything is spread out. That's that's the way it is. That's when everyone's paying players around. You're not loading up with three star running backs on your team. Right. Because well, if if the guy they had was the number three back two years ago was in the backfield, it'd be coon lacy. Yes, now it'll miss. But I do wonder in the season, we'll begin to
tell that more and more and more that Ahmad heart is not playing. And I do think there's a non-zero chance he doesn't play. Oh, I totally agree with that. So that's I that's my fear is that he Ahmad Hardy is the football version of of of Michael Porter Jr. And that is that that how many yards did Jamal Roberts get in the third and fourth quarter against defenses who have been tackling Ahmad Hardy for, you know, 20 years. Right. And then this year he's, oh, this guy he's averaging 4.4 yards of carry with two 64 yard runs. Yes. And besides that, that's not much. And they got problems up on the on the front line too. I'm not sure that offensive line is set for the gauntlet they're about to be run through. It's too way too many mistakes. Fall start penalties holding penalties and you know, fall start penalties are. Five or six of them. Yeah, at least eight penalties in every game. And a lot of those are on the offensive line and holding penalties is one thing. That's an effort. Fall starts. But you can't have back to back fall starts on your home field against Troy.
Yeah. That made a sense. So, you know, we've talked a lot about these coaches. I've said this a bunch of times. I don't think you need to give them seven, eight year deals. Forget about it. Right. Turtle Signeti won a national championship in two years. Okay. If you can either do it, you can't, you're paying money to players. You figured out. So they keep giving these guys contracts. I'm just going to read. It's hard to tell the exact numbers. There's that this is on rivals on three. So tell me if the coach is overpaid or underpaid. Should be fired or not. Number one, highest paid coach is Kirby smart $13 million. I know. Where he's fine. Yeah. Turtle Signeti $13 million. Not overpaid. All right. Lane Kiffin $13 million. TBD. TBD. Didn't pass test number one. See what happens for him. Ryan Day $12 million. I think he's a good coach. They're going to play off. Yeah. I mean, you know, not everyone wins the whole thing. Kaelin DeVorx $12 million. They win TBD. They went to the playoff. Right. Right. They got embarrassed by Indiana's Alabama. Alabama. Just standard is a little different.
Lincoln Riley $11 million. That's the thing. If you're Alabama, what you're thinking is we can get another guy. You know, like, you know, if you're Indiana, you know, keep paying the man. We haven't had this guy. We don't know that we're going to find the next Lincoln Riley $11 million. Overpaid overpaid. It has not worked yet. They haven't made a playoff. Haven't haven't won a title. Right. A league title. Davos still making $11 million. Better wind tomorrow. Yeah. I mean, yeah. But he won a couple. I mean, that's kind of like you get paid for what you did. That's what you're going to do. Well, the other part of it isn't at the top. Really, that's the problem. It's the problem. The problem is, and this isn't just picking it, it's picking on him because of local. I mean, anybody in this particular category, when you just extend somebody like Eli drink with him, yes, because he makes the, they don't make a bowl game. That's where I'm getting. So, Sark's making $11 million. I mean, they've made a playoff. My GoPro $10 million. I mean, A&M's happy. They made a playoff. They look great. They look great.
The last week. Dan landing made a playoff. Looks that that looks promising. That looks good. They did lose the Oklahoma state somehow, but they beat Southern cow, whatever. Mike Norval, $10 million dollars in the forest state. Not right now, but it looks like you know, the admit a playoff. They're in the, they're in the damn ACC. I mean, Eli $10 million dollars. Well, it's, yeah, overpaid. I mean, haven't made a playoff. One is it is. It's still true that he hasn't won a game where they've been the underdog, right? Isn't that correct? Against a ranked team or something. Yeah, I think I think he's won it. Well, last year they won every game they were favored. Yeah, they lost every game they weren't favored. They're he's oh and 16 against schools against SEC schools who have finished above 500 in the conference and they've lost eight or nine straight games to ranked teams going back to the so you would think that those are the mostly underdog games. Yeah, so that's why like this
game's a big one. They'll be being a real team and you're at all and you're underdog. They don't have that that game that seemingly every other college or the more. Marcus Freeman $10 million dollars Notre Dame. He's probably going to be worth it. Yeah, I mean, they've made a playoff and yeah, looking really good. Deon $10 million dollars. Stop. Move on to Trojus. Yeah. Bill Bellichek $10 million. Trojus so far. I've got and I don't see it getting better, but Shane Beamer $9 million dollars. No. No good. I mean, they've even sniffed anything. Look, look like it might be working, but the last you know, it's underpaid. I'll just say this right now. Yeah, you I mentioned his name yet. Kirk Ferrance. Yeah, I'm about to get down. James wins every year. So Josh Hypole $9 million dollars. They made a playoff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Brent Vennibles $8 million. It's maybe 10 million now. They made a playoff, but it's been two up and down. It's been two dodgy
for Oklahoma standards. Matt rule $8 million dollars. This big year for them. Yeah. Yeah, that's it. That's a big year underpaid. Christopher Ball $8 million dollars. Miami's right now. Yeah, yeah, they're they play for the title. I mean, you're too touched down. Bread for an against Clemson. Yeah, bread. Be almost making $8 million dollars at Illinois. Probably worth the show. They're not going to the playoff. I know. I'm just saying you're real in the way. Matt Campbell. Never win. Got big big money. Go to Penn State. They were big loss last week. But now we're down to the 20th. You know, 20th. That's the good. We're getting down to where this is average salary. Yeah. So like PJ Fleck makes $8 million dollars a year. He's a 24th highest paid coach. That's about right. You know how many times PJ Fleck has finished in the top 25. Not the top five. Nothing only two. Once, right. But they make seven bowl games. The guys make an $8 million a year. Well, it's still he's still 20. What's his right?
That's my point of the whole phase 24th. My point of the whole thing. Especially now, what you're paying the players, they all make too much money. I agree. And if you're playing the paying the players and seren's talked about this. No, these contracts are going to go down. But they're not Danny. They keep giving them more money. Well, they're going to have to go down. They won't have the money to do it. And what they'll realize is we'll take a lesser coach and they have a better roster. They won't be able to pay them this kind of you think? Because they want, they want to have their own. Well, as long as a few of them will do it. As long as there's an Alabama or an LSU out there willing to give someone $13 million. Someone's going to be making money. And then he said, well, all in one half of Lane's money. You're still giving a guy $17 million. Box. It's ridiculous. Crazy. Crazy. Don't should have got into coaching Danny. Yeah, for a long time, you'd see it like football assistant coach was like such an unbelievably awful job. Really? They're making five, six, eight hundred dollars. You look at these. I remember, you know,
up to probably 15 years ago and they weren't making real money by then. You'd look at an assistant college football coach and he'd coached in at least 10 places. And everyone can find money. They get free sweats. But they need the life. It's the life now. That's for sure. Well, if the life for us is talking to Danny clinks, you know, one quick segment coming back up. Welcome back into the program. I am Tazley. A little weekly dose of Peter Merle. Danny, I'm speaking of Joe Spiker. We were out on his lovely time on his boat down the lake of the Ozarks and he had never heard the whole song. I hear he's there. He's all about a month ago and I went, that's not what I was expecting. It's enjoyable, but it is and what I thought it would be just based on that. It's kind of a goth, dark. It's cool song. It's great. I think it's, I think the part you don't hear is better than that and I like that. So anyway, do you have any thoughts about the
Major League Baseball playoffs? Yeah, I think it's a difficult rooting call to, you know, like easy for me to root for the Brewers, easy for me to root against the Dodgers. I don't hate them, but, they're the mega, you know, easy to root for the Blue Jays, but two nice stories. You know the Guardians, I don't think the Blue Jays mean to get it. Blue Jays, I mean, Rays, the Guardians and the White Socks are both great stories. Now, I'll be rooting for the Guardians because I listen to Guardians games a lot because I like Tommy Hamilton. But those are two fantastic stories. You just almost don't want either of them to lose. You know, but the White Socks, I guess it's easy to root for the Guardians because the Guardians, you know, they're, you want them to have another crack at a World Series and the White Socks are still on the rise. They're probably going to be good. They get really good young talent. So, so I guess that's my thought. We got neat stories here. I think there's a very, there is a chance that the Rays and the Brewers would meet in the World Series. That would be refreshing. And what
the playoffs right now are also showing is that, you know, half of the teams in there are basically in the Royals category. So you've got no excuses. The weird part is like, and then J.J. said that the other day, you know, at the press conference. You know, a lot of teams in there paid less money than we did. There's more to it than just spending money. And he's right about that. But we're in a weird spot. We're in this spot where the owners would like to have a salary cap. They'd like to have some of these costs, certainties. And I don't think it would be great for the owners if you had the the Brewers playing the Rays and they, well, not all the owners. I think the owners would like to see the Dodgers win this one. So they have a little juice to know what you know. What I will say is that the baseball owners, if they think they're going to get a salary cap, they're idiots. They should not be wasting their time. It's not going to happen. And they're going to do more damage to the game if they have a strike and a lockout. They are, they've got to move on. Move, get a bunch of other stuff that you like because he ain't getting a salary cap. They're not going to happen. They'll dig their heels in and we'll have no
baseball. And if you get a salary cap, you just give a personal services contract. These guys like the Clippers did. You know, a whole bunch extra money. Or you just go on man city. Yeah, in soccer. Like all of them. So, you know, there's there's ways around it. They, I don't know. The Dodgers have kind of got created that. Well, it's really, yeah. How solid life-tang contracts and deferred payments. And the fact that Major League Baseball somehow gave them this free way to hide part of their local TV money from the bankruptcy thing because they hated the owner before. I mean, they've created a lot of us mess with the Dodgers. They have. I don't want to see the Dodgers win the whole thing. I don't either. I mean, the pieces of the guys on the Dodgers, I have no real issue with. They're not unlikeable players. You know, Mookie bats, they're great. They're good guys. It's like Yankees back at the turn of the century. There was nothing really just to dislike about the players on the team. Yeah, it was just that they were the Yankees. Now, this Yankee team is good. Yeah, yeah. Just chiseled. Yeah, the real pictures. Although I actually have, I know I don't like the guy, but I do have fun watching
Jess Chisim play baseball. I don't. He plays with a joy. A joy. You know, he's a super hot dog, but he's fun to watch it. You know, I don't have to root for him. You know, fun status. I saw yesterday. The last 100 seasons, how many seasons of the last 100 have the Chicago White Sox had a postseason series win? How many seasons did they win? I mean, they're going to go on the playoffs that nine or ten times. I say they've only had maybe two seasons. Yeah, yeah. This year and 05 when they won the World's Earth. Right. Yeah. So before that, sure, once in a hundred years, in a hundred years, that they have a series run short college game day tomorrow with you. That's right. Short, but brilliant. Short, but sweet with Danny and stand tomorrow at 9 a.m. All right, 12 years ago and today, the Royals knocked off the A's in the wild card. Who is the losing pitcher in that game? Brought to you by La Feta de la Catesen.
