Social price loyalty program subject to terms and conditions details at lows.com slash terms subject to change. Hello Miami Dolphins fans. How are you today? And thank you for listening to the Dolphins Talk.com podcast on this Wednesday, September 30th. I'm your host. My Galiva joined as I am each and every Wednesday by Simon Clancy. Follow his work at the lowredzone.substac.com. And of course, right here at DolphinsTalk.com on Twitter at S.I. Clancy and at the five reasons sports network three yards per carry and their Patreon page and everything they got going on over there. Simon, how you doing this week? Good luck, how are you? I'm doing okay. I'm doing okay. We're about halfway through the week here and there's a lot to talk about with the Dolphins. I don't really want to talk about the game because it sort of is what it is. I want to talk about more of the large story to come out of the game, which is trying to replace Devon H.ANN. And I think the approach, I want to get your thoughts on how is this going to affect how slow it calls the game and how much more is now on the plate of Malik Willis with
no H.ANN for the rest of the season. Yeah, I think it's going to just play the same game as he has before Mike. I think that the style of running calls that he's been making is as suited, if not more suited, to give many regards to Oli Gordon and Jelena Ryder than ever was to do on H.ANN. I think running H.ANN consistently through that. The AMB gap is not necessarily the way that you want to work with a guy that's £180 and getting the equipment to like Mike Modano used to and those outsides. I think he's more suited to his skillset whereas I think the other two guys that you would like to run between the tackles. So actually, that regard, I think it's actually not a bad thing. The concern obviously is that it just piles all the extra, not pressure, but it just piles all the extra responsibility onto Malik Willis. And if the dolphins can't get a ground game going because H.ANN, who is such a good player, isn't there, then obviously it's going to make it more difficult to try and move the ball through the air and what you'll find is that teams will just play Malik accordingly
and why shouldn't they? So I think it's really important that Ry and Gordon, especially if Jelena Ryder is back to full health, are able to weigh in and just keep defensive starting this weekend with Brian for us but just keep them a little bit off-handed because otherwise it's going to be quite, you know, it's going to be a long season anyway but it could be significant if any longer if we just can't get any traction in the run game and then you're climbing with that pressure on a guy to make plays with his arm or his legs when we all know that the receiving talent is subpar anyway. Yeah, 100%. And I think the one other thing from this past we just came against the Chiefs was we saw a lot of these young players, rookies in particular, sort of take a step. Chris Bell, Chris Johnson, Michael, Taff, Jacob Rodriguez had a large-planned game as well. Just weren't only three games in but what are some of your takeaways here from these rookies? You know, I know we spend a lot of time on this show talking about the quarterback and talking about half-leaf and stuff but some of these rookies are starting, you're starting
to see the improvements. Little small steps from week one to week two to week three. What are your thoughts on some of those rookies? Yeah, I think we are lucky if we go through them, I think, I was hugely impressed with what Caden Proctor did this week, specifically his work against Chris Jones but just generally he just looks like, I mean, he looks like a future all prior left off. He does. The conversation is very, really interesting, Mike, isn't it? Because we all suspect the Austin Jackson final season is this one in Miami and then Proctor, he's been a career tackle. Do you move out to the right side or do you just keep him where he is in terms of that left side with him at Pat Paul because a lot of that stuff that he was doing, taking Chris Jones to the ground, it was teaching a lot of it and it was hugely impressive. This is week three, you know, actually, once he would like to, we could have seen or we could have seen this time next year, etc. So, if that end, I was extremely impressed. Chris Bell, it's pretty exceeding expectations, I think when he looked at it and it was good to see him pick up the big gainer or be it on the play or the style of play that
he was sort of custom to Louisville and you know, anybody that watched again against the hurricane, he was pretty much running exactly the same routes. But I thought he did a nice job against separation against Mansour Delain who's a really good player himself. You know, he's beginning to develop a little bit and the knee is clearly an issue and there was some of his knee pain between weeks two and three. But anything that he does now is a bonus for next season. Douglas, you know, showed up in the preseason, showed up training camp, showed up against the Raiders, I think he struggled against the 49ers, obviously got injured. We missed him a bit on some best, especially some of those deep balls, I think we're probably going to be intended for him. But you know, he's exceeded expectations. Kevin Coleman, you know, is a fifth round slot receiver, but you know, he's starting for an NFL team and you know, you'd like to see him get the ball a little bit more and you know, take some of those touches away from Malik Washington. But you know, he's done an adequate job. He's a little castmeric, you know, he's in the trouble of the score and too much in the receiving department certainly not this year, but he's weighing in really well in the
blocking department. I think he was, you know, you only have to go back to the game at the weekend where the pressure got to Malik was on that. That scene brought to Coleman that ultimately fell in incomplete and people say it was on the throne of him at 63 yards in the air, so I'm not sure how I could do that. But Malik would have been sacked and Casabar came into help us to Jackson. He's done a nice job. We haven't seen Sadiah Trierro. We haven't seen the kid from the kid from Texas, DJ Campbell. And then I think defensively, you know, Roger E. Gues has been exactly what we expect from him to be. Plus, plus, plus, you know, talk about Ricky the year, but you know, he's in a bunch of tackles. He's first pick, he had a couple of TFLs. He's all over the place. He's the green dot, you know, and he's the sort of story that the NFL likes to promote in terms of, you know, he's got the Starship, his wife is the military pilot and all these sorts of things, which is great. Chris Johnson, I think, he's working his way into the game. This was his best game by far, last week. That was his best game.
So to they've passed so much on him in terms of what they're trying. It's not just they're not just sent to you, but you're going to pay the nickel that's it. He's paying outside, he's paying inside, he's blitzing, you know, he's doing all these different things. So like you say, 100% correctly, it was easily his best game. And then look, Michael Taff has some limitations, but he's super smart. He's working hard to get people lined up. He's tough, he's physical, he's around the football athletically, he's not the greatest. You know, do you think in three years time, Michael Taff is going to be starting with this team? It's unlikely, but I suspect he's going to be a special teams captain. He's going to be, you know, rotational. He's going to be doing the things that he does plus with the, you know, outstanding leadership that he's got. So I think that's really important. Obviously, we haven't seen much of, you know, Max Luelland, but I think overall, you know, especially when he's throwing train more in, who looks so impressive in the spring and summer. Lewis as well, who did really well.
You know, it looks like a really good, looks like a really good draft cast. And if you think that Jacob Rodriguez could be rookie of the year, he looks like a kind of future pro-bollary type. And, well, it looks like a future all-pro. Well, if that's your two top picks, that's the hell of a star for John Erexel. That's not too bad right there. Absolutely. I'll take it. I'll take it, especially over some of the previous drafts you've had with the last guy. I agree with you on Proctor. It's going to be interesting. Now, I think how it will play out, honestly, is there going to have a lot of money to spend next March in free agency? I haven't loved who's going to be available. And it's way too early for that. If there's someone out there that you can sign as a right tackle, that's at a reasonable price, obviously. Then, yeah, maybe you do leave him at left. Leave him where he is now at left guard. If not, though, then maybe they do move. I think that's going to play a factor on what they do. Because if they are going to move on from Austin Jackson, who's going to replace him? It's just, okay, he's gone.
Then what? What's your plan? So, we'll see. I don't know. I agree with you on his safety. Michael Taff in a few years should not, you shouldn't want him to be out there every snap as a starting safety. What I will say is about the kid. He's always around the football. Some guys just have a knack for being around the football. It was that way with him. It was that way with Andrew Van Ginkgole. He's the ball finds him. So that's a nice trait to have sometimes. But yes, I agree. Long term, he's probably not a starting safety. If he's your third, safe, year, fourth, safety, that's fine. Someone you want on the team, obviously. But I agree. But yes, these rookies, you're starting to see the improvement week over week. And it's very promising. But Proctor looks just like, you know, and I know a lot of us, you and me included, question to pick. Through three games, he's silencing a lot of dollars. Like, you know what? This kid's a real deal. 100% here. Yeah, I couldn't have been more impressed with him at the weekend. That's the other thought. He was excellent.
And he just looks just the way he moves. But also his body positioning, what he's doing is hands, how his tires, hands, and his feet together. All of those things just look really impressive. So yeah, I think the sky's the limit for hearing Mike. I think he's playing really well. Yeah. Real quick here. Let's pay some bills. Everyone go to kelsi.com. He's a promo code. Dolphins talk. It's a new football season. There's a lot of questions. It's early. There's a lot of injuries right now. There's a lot of quarterbacks are going down. So, you know, who's going to take home the title? We don't know yet. But on Kelsi, America's number one prediction, market platform will let you trade those predictions in a live market. This week he got the Miami Dolphins traveling to Minnesota to see their old friend, Varian Flores and the Minnesota Vikings. Right now the dolphins are trading at only 17%. Meaning, if you think they're going to pull off a miracle upset, $100 bet on the dolphins will pay you out $555 on Kelsi. You're trading against peers in a live market. Meaning, there's no houses, the probability changes. You can buy in and out of your position. Trade the draft pick, the game, and more on Kelsi on your phone.
Then load the app for Kelsi user promo code. Dolphins talk to get $25 when you trade $25 KAL. SHI Kelsi trade on anything 18 and over only restrictions and eligibility requirements apply. So, this week, Varian Flores, they're going to see their old friend there. Varian Flores who's got the Vikings. You know, Miami has no sex. Vikings have 14, 6 and 28 quarterback kits and 15 tackles for loss. The fuller opposite of the dolphins. They are extremely aggressive. They are number one in the NFL and rushing defense. Third down defense or number two and scoring defense. Miami with no 8-chan. This is probably not the week you want to go with the first game with no 8-chan. This is going to be a tough matchup for that Miami offense, who's only averaging 12 points against a game three touchdowns, one per game.
Yeah, it's going to be a huge matchup. It's going to be, you know, I look at what's happening in the first couple of weeks with Max Crossby and Nick Bozer. You'd see Dallas Turner, director town, developing or not quite so. We're going to his town, but developing into one of the best young pass rushes in the NFL and actually removed the, just one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. Obviously, Andrew Van Ginko, as we know very well. Brian Flores in terms of what Flores does and how he, you know, how he lines up in the blitz packages and all those things and how diabolical he can be for quarterbacks in terms of what he wants to do. And you look at Malik, he's going to be starting his eighth night, the game, whatever it is. And you know that Flores is going to do whatever he can to confuse the hell out of Malik. And I think for all those people expecting, you know, for one thing, I think he's probably
a good word. Malik to fail. I think they're going to be the probably going to enjoy this week. You know, I don't think you want to go on the road to Minnesota knowing that, you know, you've got the youngest team in the league and a hugely inexperienced quarterback. You know that you're going to face this defense. It's kind of blitzed crazy approach. Now look, it's not like we can't catch them in, you know, can we catch them in some of the players at Green Bay caught them in a week one. You know, it hits some of those explosives down the field, but without DeVon H. And it's going to be significantly harder. But you consider Mike and I look at the stats before he's died. But I think that that Minnesota's blitz percentage is something like 66.4%. It's up there. It's really high. I know that I don't have a number of second highest in Chicago as a 39.8 or 30. It's an example. Yeah. Double, you know, and Chiefs were fifth. We played the Chiefs last week, 36.7. And obviously that will help. You know, that will provide Bobby Slowak and half with some valuable experience,
playing against blitz heavy teams. You know, Spank certainly loves to blitz as we know that. Yeah, he'll zero you. He's going to he's going to bluff out. He's going to mug up. He's going to show you all the all the goodies in the bag. And I think that Flores is going to do the same. So actually in many regards back to back wings are playing good defense. His good coordinate is good schemes will be a chance for the offensive line. And it'll be a mental challenge for Malik. And I think that the one takeaway that you have from from week three is there were no sacks. You know, there was a sacks once against the fifth best blitz in team in the league. Having been sacked nine times in the first two games. And it's a felt a little bit last week like the line was gelling a bit more. I don't think it was an important part of that. You know, Jackson's going to have his hands full this weekend with Van Ginkler, especially a turner. But we'll you know, we'll see how it goes. But nobody blitzes or creates more pressure than the Vikings do. And it's going to be a strain on all 11 players on that team. But there are explosive plates to be made in the holes where you blitz from. So we'll see whether or not we're up to it.
Yeah, exactly. And again, it's probably a we're going to learn a lot about the offensive line again, which I think is a positive. We're going to know one way or another. You know, if these guys are improving as a unit per say, not so much as individuals. So that's a good thing there. And yeah, there's going to be plays there to be made. It's just, you know, we'll find out a lot about a lot of these guys, which in a season where that's what we need to do is find out about stuff. This will be a very good test to see where we are at week four. It's still very early in the season. But yeah. And hopefully for Willis, you know, I thought, you know, last week was a little bit up and down. I didn't have a problem with how we play. I know some people are way too critical of a man. Some people have already made up their mind, which I think is not to. But let's see how he does this week. And I think I want to see him actually run a little bit more too with no more HN. Not run for his life. There's a difference. Not run for his life because you get no protection. Just see a few more running plays from him as well. We'll see.
Now, I want to talk about two things here for this from now until the end of the show. Your article this week, I thought was fantastic, which everyone can read up at DolphinsTalk.com. Would you ever want to dive into Willis? Take a quarter back, take a quarter back, take a quarter back. Well, who? It's really easy to say take a quarter back. But then, okay, take a quarter back. Great. You got to take a quarter back. Who? And right now, looking at the college again, it's early in college. We're still technically in September up until midnight here. The college quarterbacks have been a very spotty so far. You got more. It took a big hit last week. Let's hope he's going to be fine here coming up soon. Archmaning, you know, has been very spotty as well. People just get caught up in the last name and they just get jaded by everything with him. Messmaker or cover your pronounce it. You know, some highs and lows with him. The question is who? And I want you to sort of expand on that because I think it's the point why they gave Willis the deal they did.
All the money front loaded years one and two to give him, as you've said, is I kind of think it's true. It's a two year sample size with Willis and I think everyone's sort of maybe needs to start coming around to that and because the college draft, which everyone thought this loaded draft a quarter back might not be as loaded as we sit here on September 30th as we all thought. Yeah. I look at the basis of the piece was that, you know, wherever you go, my privy looks, social media, what I mean, listen to what TV you change to. You know, dolphins are going to pick a call, they're going to pick a call. They're worse than they need to call a Pee before back, right? And especially on Twitter, you know, mock drafts and all those things, half a take a pass, they have to take a pass up because that's what bad teams do, right? I mean, right. And, you know, after three games of Willis, trying to play with a less secure position group, I've seen in the NFL for a very long time. So it should be more than enough time to justify, maybe, on from, right? Yeah, of course. Obviously, I'm being facetious to those people that don't get my sarcasm.
Really debate amongst the aggregators and the, you know, the impatient that that's what we have to do now. Yeah, take a pass around one. The weird thing that I found, Mike, was that nobody provided the satisfactory reply to my question, which call back you taking because there isn't a four back to take at this point. And that's what makes, I think, the conversation and the discussion pretty ass and I at the moment, you know, I don't think Billiq is necessarily done enough to make you go, I don't think I'll have three games in. Yeah, we're sold, but it's three games. It's literally three games. I was speaking to an offensive coordinator, a former offensive coordinator on, well, it's in Monday night. And he was saying, you know, it takes 10 to 12 games. Not 10 to 12 practices, 10 to 12 games, but start to feel the rhythm and the symbiosis between an offensive coordinator and a play call at Andy Offense, you know, that kind of three-headed monster. But it's clear that the dolphins, will not evaluate Malik Willis in the same time frame
that most fans want to evaluate Willis, which is yesterday quite frankly. Yes, yes. It would be quite a buzz that John Erickson and Valeroy evaluation will be significantly longer than three games. And it will be significantly longer than most of the people watching this, you know, regardless of the injuries, regardless of the lack of talent, JES is going to want to see Malik throwing two high level players, you know, and realistically he's being asked to do a job with his hands tied behind his back a little bit. And I think I just feel uncomfortable that people are just saying picking a quarterback, it doesn't matter who. Like I had somebody just tweet me. It kind of matters who, that's the whole point. Yeah, but it didn't matter who anyone's could be a GM at their point. Exactly. So all the conversations begin and end well, certainly begin with Archbishop because he was the de facto number one coming to the season. He's had a poor year. He was up and down last year. He has, to me, he's taking a step back. And I think that the sample size is growing and the,
the ability for me to get behind him is number one peak. He's shrinking and he's shrinking rapidly. And I just don't, at the moment, just don't see it. You know, he's obviously got talent. He's got a big arm. He's talented. He's physical. He's great. He's a runner. He can throw it all over the yard. But it's, it's so inconsistent. He's hesitant. He's extremely chaotic in the pocket. He's late. He's in actuar. All of these things. You go to Dante Morgan. Knocked out the game that we came with. He can cuss you. You know, the way that Oregon talked about it afterwards. I'm not sure you ever see Dante Morgan in Oregon. He uniform again. And obviously that clouds the evaluation. Gary and Mitzer. Mitzer looks really good. Playing anybody. He's played absolutely nobody. He's beating up on cupcakes. That's not his fault. In any way, shape and form. That's not the schedule. But I don't, I don't see, I don't understand why Mitzer's gone from a sort of third round pick to top five pick. Because he's trying to malachite. Only against really bad players. That makes my sense. They'll get one, you know, they'll get one. I think they'll play one ranked team before November.
Norinay. November 8th. That's it. You play Bumacacriora and Bryant Young's kid and Leonard Moore on the corner. And then we'll see how we go. But I'm certainly not ready to put him in the first round. Let it learn in the top five at this point. You know, Trinidad Chambers has been great. You know, I thought he was excellent, even in defeat last week to Florida. You know, he can't help. He doesn't pay defense. But he's also five foot 11. And he'll be 25 next summer. And that's going to be an issue for some teams. Absolutely. Absolutely. He'll be an issue for some teams. The Noris sellers looks miles away. He needs to go back again for another year. CJ Carr, I know today has had a solid if I'm spectacular season. He's efficient. He's also a registered sophomore. Drew Bestermaker, Richard sophomore. You know, he's played four games against powerful teams in his entire life. You know, he's only 20. He's a Richard sophomore itself. Very up and down. The highs are super high. The lows are super low. He played very well against my Virginia last week. But, you know, go back to week one.
And, you know, remember some of the mistakes he made in week one. He's had pick sixes. He had pick six against Oregon. You know, all of those things. Jay and my other played pretty well. It's Oregon. It's had a solid season. Lacks the arm strength. But, I'm certainly not getting behind him to go to go first or overall. And all of a sudden, like, you're running out of me. The mighty dollar. Download today. And that's the thing. Like some of these guys are going to play at the next level. They should be picked in some maybe even mid-round one, late-round one. But when you're talking top five, or like one, like you got to be a slam dunk. And that's the thing. I watch a ton of crowd football. I go to a lot of games up here at Syracuse. I see some of these people in person. I don't see anyone as of now. So, Tempor, there's still a lot of season to be left, obviously. Who's a top around one quarterback. And with the NIL money now in college, just trust me. I know about that here at Syracuse. We don't have that type of money to compete at that level where all fans want to compete. These kids don't have to rush to the NFL in the work, because they're making so much in college, especially a quarterback that they're like every year. We're not going to go. Now, there's been some law changes coming soon. Maybe they won't, but this point is that there's no rush to go to the NFL, because they're making so much in college. The 20th, this might be pushed out here to the 2028 draft, is the quarterback draft, especially if Arch goes back,
and then maybe Arch does live up to the name. And 28, after he's got all this season and all next season, and not just him, but that's just one example. So, where these guys do need more seasoning. Yeah, I think three most interesting names are car, Messtermaker, both Richard Softmores, both 20 years old. Okay, both need to go back. Austin Simmons and Missouri to me has been the most, a lot of the champs, has been the best, draft eligible quarterback this season. And I find him extremely intriguing, ripping up the SEC pretty much. He's 6'4", he's 221 pounds, big, lefty, furious, velocity, serious arm talent. And I think he's played very, very well this season. Now, the one thing to bear in mind about Austin Simmons is that he graduated. He graduated, aged 19. He graduated before he'd even taken a snap as a starter. He has started just five career games. Okay, in his integrity, I think he's Richard Jr.
Might be a senior, he's Richard Jr. Anyway, that's not a lot of experience, even in this year. The hope is that he stays on, he plays another year, he builds that experience and continues to develop. And it turns into that fantastic 2028 draft with a Messtermaker, with a car, with an archbite, with a Camaro Taylor, Keelon Russell, who's developing really, really nicely. He's amazing, he's mature with JKS, all of these exciting players that we're looking at. And then he throw a Messtermaker and car, and Lindsay can set a JLNZ, and Minnesota, and Sellers, and quite possibly, Manning. But I think the most important thing is that and we've discussed this, you know, you and I, Mike, and we laugh about it pretty much each week. But Jekin, happy and Jairic's 11, tell you what they're going to do and then they go ahead and... Yeah. Yeah. Before the draft, during the draft, after the draft, and then in the pre-season, in the pre-regular season press conference, Generic Sullivan talked about his draft approach. And he said, when he had a whole way of hold is obvious,
but we're always going to be a best player available approach always. Now, they claimed that Keelon Proctor was the highest player on their board when they were on the clock. Now, I have certainly had Keelon down the roof, main hire, but Sullivan went out on a limb, it's looking like a great limb to be out on the moment. So more power to him. There is not a single scenario where you would look at Austin Simmons or CJ Carton. So he's a better player than Jeremy Heisbeath. None whatsoever. So unless Jairic Sullivan takes the biggest U-turn of his GM career. And then he happened in Simon, you know that. What's the valuation of Willis has to be longer than one year? Yeah, exactly. Players who can help elevate the whole thing around him. And that's not to say that, you know, he has to have great players to be every single player. My favorite player, my favorite two players, non-mirey players in the NFL are Microparsons, who's an absolute freaking nature.
Doesn't he need anybody else to help him? Joe Barrow. I love Joe Barrow. I love doing LSU. I just love the, I love just love his mindset. I love Harry. Deals of things. I love listening to him. I think he's just super interesting. I think he's a really good player. And I love the story of the National Championship going for an Ohio State and doing what you did at LSU. But Joe Barrow also needs Jamar Chase and T-Higgins and you know, Mike Gisickey and... All three quarterbacks have weapons. Yeah, I mean, it's like people aren't there. It's like, well, you know, who doesn't need great players around him? Yeah. If Marino make Dupre and Clarence, or the Dupre and Clarence make Marino, it's like, you know, or maybe it's just a little from Colomayn, a little from Colombe. You know, and I don't think it's a problem to say, you know what? Maliguelis will be a better player if he's certain to Jeremiah Smith. That is not a knock on Maliguelis. I think that's just a fact. It wouldn't surprise me if the dolphins went outside and they'd Josh Downes for example, kind of free agency. And then drafted Jeremiah Smith to play the Douglas and Crystal. Look, I look at... I looked at the Denver Broncos on Monday night
and I looked at them last season. I'm not a massive bonus fan. I don't think he's a particularly great NFL quarterback. I probably wouldn't put him in the top 14 quarterbacks, top 15 quarterbacks in the league. But they got to the air see championship last year. Okay? Obviously the defense was great with PS2 and, you know, and the guys at the edge Jonathan Cooper and Nick Bonito and Kyle Allen through the middle and Strunab, who's a really good player and a fun girl and Sean Payton, all of those things helped, right? You watched the game on Monday night, okay? And I'm probably going to forget a name, but but Nix has Jalen Waddell, Colin Sutton, Troy Franklin, the big tie-in, I'm going to have to Wikipedia now. My name is Terry Blacchew. Evan Ingram. And there's another receiver. And it's just like, nobody's saying that Boatnix... Mims is Pep Ryan, yeah. Yeah, Pat Bryan, obviously, Marvin Mims. So that was the one that was Pat Bryan, Troy Franklin, Lil Jordan Humphrey, Marvin Mims, Carlos Jalen Waddell and a tie-in. He's got Evan Ingram and Adam Trauer,
Gallon Bentley, and then he's got three receiving backs in the back field as well, Bady Dobbins and RJ Harving. Oh, and plus, he's probably got a top three interior alignment of the League in Quinn Miners, a really good safety in Luke Watner, an outstanding all-pro left tackling Garret Bowls, a very serviceable right tackling in my community. Like, nobody's going well. The only reason Boatnix got to the AFC championship game is because of the defense and the fact that he's got targets. Surely you help elevate your players by selling good players. So if we were to attack Nick Caesar Josh Downs, Germa, excuse me Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell, Sam Laporta is a free agent, for example. You know, all of a sudden that offense, Devon H. O. Malik Willis, Sam Laporta, World Casmaric, Germa Smith, Josh Downs, Chris Bell, Caleb Douglas. Whoa, okay. You're explosive. Yeah. That's pretty tidy, really quickly. You know, the offensive line is looking good. Maybe you take it, maybe you move down,
you get two ones, you move down enough, you can still get Germa Smith and you drive Melbourne to the ARNI, the Texas right tackle and boom, there you go. And then on defense, you're looking at a pass Russia, you might bring in the, the Adjomo kid from Philadelphia to play defensive tackle because I don't think that that positions. Oh, yeah. Sort of completely. Maybe you bring in, you know, DJ Turner, the kid at Cincinnati, who's developed into a top 10 corner to pair opposite, Judeo Brents or Chris Johnson or whatever. You know, and all of a sudden that defense had a bright young, the Rams, edge guy off to the to the pollute to at the charges. Yaya Diabi at Tampa Bay and all of a sudden, you're like, oh, okay. This team is pretty good. And you throw it back in, you're Jordan Phillips, you Kenneth Grant, you're Jacob Rodriguez, you're Jordan Brooks, you're Chris Johnson, you're Dante Trader. And suddenly you can see the okay, I can see a path. Now you see the vision and then you go into the tractor like,
hey, now we're just looking for exit pieces around the guys we signed to mark because they have a little bit of money. It's finally yeah. And you can see a path quite quickly to, you know, nine and eight or ten and seven and the playoffs. And you were a year ahead of schedule. Oh, and here comes the 2028 draft, which is also going to be absolute. And you knock that out of the park as well and spend wisely and free agency in 2028. And all of a sudden you've got yourself an absolute monster. And you still got the league willis because you know, he's playing well, he's got another year of his clock chat left and he's surrounded by a recovered HM, a sample reporter, a Jeremiah Smith, a Josh Downs, a Chris Bell, a Caleb Douglas, a World Casm Eric, and he's got a really good defense and a really good offensive line. Like what are we doing? Why would something like that happen? Exactly, that's the blueprint. And again, if they fall in love with the quarterback, great, but I don't know in round one at the top round one, who you're going to fall in love with as of today, because there's just not somebody who's shown themselves to be that guy. Yeah, it's still early, it's still early.
But I think that's why you're spot out with this. I think that's why fans need to start to come to grips with what else is going to be here for two seasons and that taking a quarterback at the top round one. And you know, some people say take the pick, trade it to whoever, get a hot. Well, who are they trading up for? Because right now as of today, they're trading up for Jeremiah Smith, or they're trading up for someone else. They're not trading up for quarterback because they're going to see the same thing, John here at Solvency. Exactly. The other thing is stop trading yourself out of really good players. That's that too. Do not look. I've said that for years in Miami, studs, you need studs, blue chippers. Not all first round picks are the same. And having guys, some guys are blue chippers. Miami has traded themselves out of blue chippers many years. And I think that needs to stop. I want to ask about two players real quick, and then we'll wrap up. Yeah. Two edge rushers this past weekend, who did have a look. One of them had five sex, but he had a taunting penalty. That's in all time. And then he got another guy who, and both these guys are like top 10,
top five picks and any eyes of most as of today. He's throwing punches on the field, refused to come off the field, fighting with his coaches and teammates. Colin Simmons and Dylan Stewart. How bet, I mean, for Simmons, he's still like five sex in the game. His stock and was just a, was just a taunting celebration thing. I don't think his stock was hurt that much. Stewart though, I think really hurt his stock from a maturity standpoint. Do you see them having fallen much at all with what happened last weekend to both these guys who were probably top 10 picks? If not even a little bit higher. Yeah, I think Simmons had that time. I just five sex. I talked with one football ball back here. Everybody would be talking about. He's my comparisons, I think too. I think he might as well be a little bit of him. I think Simmons biggest play when he'd been college football was biggest spray. It's in fact, your relationship, your relationship. Because it was pretty ridiculous. It was ridiculous. But then he just made everybody forget about it. Exactly.
But what I thought was most impressive, might have been the many varied ways that he won on that game, like the football swash arse that was on display. There were stunts that he's got sat on. He used to work with a spine and got outside the pocket and took down phase on brand-new. I think there was the hunt move of the right tackle, Jesse Perry. There was the quick move and duck under the wing of Perry. He just won in so many ways. And the ability to line up across that front still wins. He's what's going to make you a top five, top seven pick and eight. Or alongside his obvious ability, the twitch, the bend, and the non-stop motor. Stuart is a fascinating one. Because Stuart is my number two player coming out of summer sky, behind Jeremiah Smith. I just think he's a phenomenal player. He's the one I see my comparisons in more, actually. Especially as Simmons is like, Simmons is only two four. He wears Dylan's shoes a bit heavier. And he just moves differently, Mike. He bends differently. He's like Gumby.
He just bends in a way that I don't think is humanly possible. And past tense is really, you know, Miles Garrett is a phenomenal past washer. But he's not bendy like Mike, or he can bend, but he's not bendy like my comparisons. Stuart is just, but the meltdown was really, in a punching just forward in the head, the refusing to come off, then arguing with Shane Beemer as he came off. And then maybe he must have said something to Beemer as he walked off, because Beemer then went back for another bite. Then arguing the position coaches. Beemer obviously announced last night that he wasn't with the football team this week, which is really interesting. And you have to ask whether or not you're going to see him play for South Carolina again. He's a rare, rare, rare specimen. He's a rare athlete, but he'll have a lot of questions to ask him dry time. Not because just because of what happened, not saying it, but this is not his first. I started reading up on the background when, over the weekend, he was ejected from games in high school. He was suspended in high school for shoving up opposing players.
He stood over Jackson's dart and pretended to shoot him with a gun when he exacted him a couple of years ago. He stood over another, another Ole Miss player, pretending to shoot him. He's had just multiple issues of the same kind of thing. And it's clearly a maturity thing. I can also argue that he missed most of summer, most of spring. And the first you get to the season with the back injury, he was on a snap out last week, he was on a snap out Saturday. And I think there's probably some frustration there because he knows how good he is. And maybe there was just the frustration played into that. We just got, excuse me, just got hungry yourself there. You just got to be better. And if I think you're investing hundreds and hundreds of millions of players, you've just got to have a moral responsibility to live up to the expectations that they're setting. And unfortunately, he looks to have felt, well, way short of that. And you just hope that in this time of he just learns he comes back, he's humbled by it. He has the suspension, and then he comes back to his gang buses and is just a great citizen to the end of the season. Because you just want to see great players play.
And great player. Yeah, absolutely. Both those guys, I think, are fantastic. And if Miami, if they end up with either one of them, you know, near the top around one next year, I think all fans at all, fans would be, should be very happy. But you just want to see a little bit more maturity from the kids, show some growth. Show hope, you know, because yes, you're right. Teams invest so much money, especially when you're talking top part around one. There's so much of an investment where you can't miss. Or, you don't want to miss that. He just has to prove with his actions, not his words, with his actions that, he's got some of this under control. And look, these, I think at times, we forget, too, these guys are really, really young. That's not an excuse, but hopefully he will grow, learn, and just have some more maturity. But I thought, well, I mean, those two guys are for real. Now, I was looking just very early. I haven't done like a lot of research. There's not a, there's not a great ed rusher class next year, I don't think. Now, yes, you have to see who's going to leave early and stuff like that. But those two, I think, are far and above
everyone else in their class. So we'll see how it shakes out. Still a long time to go, but I always like to sort of have one eye on that, because I think we know where this season's going for Miami, and some of the big players at the top of the draft. We kind of are probably going to be in play for various reasons. All right, Simon. Thank you so much. Everyone go to the lowredzone.substake.com on Twitter at S.I. Clancy.
