My whole career really, and what I know is that the good restaurants all have something in common. They're busy, genuinely, chaotically busy. And somehow, in the last few years, the best of them have begun to make it look easy. And do you know why? Because they're running on Toast's technology. Toast is built for restaurant owners who understand that Toast's
tools keep the line moving and keep their customers happy with fewer mistakes and hiccups in ordering and paying for owners that turns busy into business. To learn more, head to ToastTab.com. The morning stream. All the ladies love for the new year. Hello and welcome to TMS. This is The Morning Stream for Wednesday, September 23rd, 2000 and 26. I'm Scott Johnson and that is Brian Ibit. Hello. Hey, man. Hey, good morning. How are you?
Middle the middle of the week. We can see as much week behind us as we can see in front of us. Yeah. When a little bit. Now it did. But we can also see all of fall laid out in front of us, which is why I'm wearing my my fall leaves and squirrels and birds. I like it a lot. I was noticing yesterday looking up at the Eastern mountain range that we're getting all this color now. I got to get up there and do some hiking before it gets cold and stuff. I know it's such a nice time. Tina's going up Saturday morning. I might go and do some hiking in the mountains this weekend too. Yeah, and there's so many choices. There's easy trails, intermediate trails, hard trails. Sure. I'll be doing the easy and maybe intermediate. Ain't doing no hard. Anyway, I hope you all doing good and welcome to the show. We got a little thing that came up very end of the show yesterday that caused. I'm not reading any specific emails, but let's just say we got a ton of emails, most of which said if it's wrong, then we've all been wrong, meaning Brian and I and everybody
else who said Jameson all these years, Joe Jameson and if you're not three syllables for that last word, here he is here with a way over sized fist. This is from an episode of that old cartoon for some reason his hand and make pictures of spider man and gloves the fit and the new foldable. I can hold with one hand. He's a he's a freak. And while watching this very same episode that I got this this image from I captured the man himself saying his own name in the cartoon. Oh, Jay, Jay Jonah Jameson saying his own name. Yeah. And it's still it's still counter to what we thought it was, but it's just fun to hear him yell it. So I'm just gonna play here. You go. I'll bet my credit cards that those two are working together or my name isn't Jay Jonah Jameson Jameson. Oh, Jameson. It just blows my mind because I've always always heard it is Jameson. There was some some emails said if you look around, I don't know where the link is, but there's an interview with Stanley where he
says either one is okay. Oh, okay. Well, that's the diplomatic. That is the most Stanley thing. Yeah, what I was going to do is go track down a clip somewhere in one of the talking inquires or something where where they say his name where J K Simon says that or we said he says it to J K Simon. It seemed like a pain in the ass. Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot of work. Yeah, that's not good enough of a bit for the show. No, no, yeah. Somebody will somebody will find it and submit it. We will give them a lot of credit, but everything else. I mean, that was the other thing we talked about is that Jameson is never pronounced Jameson anywhere else. It's always Jameson. Yeah, you know, like like the whiskey. Probably the whiskey, I think. Yeah, you had one other yesterday. Why? I mentioned Jenna Jameson and you'd never heard of it. I never heard of her. Just made me feel so proud of you Scott. I looked her up after and I don't know what moderate means on the duck duck go browser
when you do image search, but it isn't what I mean. Yeah, I think moderate means it finds something that's in the like it allows things that are in the middle of the worst picture you could find of Jenna Jameson and the best picture you could find at Jenna Jameson, which is a whole different scale than the worst picture you could find of and halfway and the best picture you could find a man halfway. Yeah, it really must be because did you look it up on stream? No hell no. Okay, Q star is saying, yeah, you did. Oh, did I? I don't remember doing that. Did I? No, I mean, I think he just meant that yeah, you looked at. Oh, I see. Yeah, I was curious about it. And I mean, the ladies in her. That's almost seven years or something. Yeah. Yeah. But I tried to find the Jameson. Yeah. I think we need the new the new Spider-Man leads to feature Jay Jenna Jameson. No, she should knock it out of the park, man. Get her in there. Make pictures of spider-man. Get me more photos. Where did Parker go? That's what this cartoon is. It's constantly Jameson going,
where's Parker? That's that's the whole ship. That's the whole cartoon. Where did Parker go? You know what Spider-Man did it? That's his whole that's his whole gig. Yeah, just a weird old man. I love it. Just love it. Anyway, some other good news. I we I launched that my drawing thing yesterday. And here's the good news. Most of you are very respectable people. There have only been a couple that I had to remove. And they were they were actually removed not for content, but because they were just like a single line. Oh, sure. So just somebody testing it out and saying submit. Yeah, submit. We're done. Blah, blah, blah. Also, I found a bug this morning. It's supposed to assign three of my favorites down here. But right now it's just doing the most recent. And I'm going to forget that. It even says random, but it's not supposed to be anyway. I'll fix it. But I fixed a whole bunch of bugs on mobile and some other problems. Didn't add too much. But the good news is you guys have been filling this thing up with cool stuff. Look, Dr. Nikki put a little cool pattern in here. Oh, that's very cool. Yeah, like she did. And we're harmed in the making of that
pattern. Like this one from Lord Mulger. There's some real some real desert jugs of P1 there. Oh, that's a very good jug of P by the way. Yeah, I like that one lot. And then one of my favorite terrifying to find it. I'm going to have to scroll for a second. I know from a couple listeners, they've got their kids doing it. So they're going to get a lot of kids stuff. Oh, someone it's Spooderman. Spooderman. Yeah, love Spooderman. Oh, here's the bad news. The one of the bugs I found I had to squash. Who I love this one right here. That's great. Yeah, this is my favorite. I think. Oh, that's very yeah, very close to be supposed to be featured. It's not. I don't know. Someone named knows knowserson made a nose. So that's stayed. Anyway, we're pages and pages of this now. Lots of creative stuff. Here's the problem. It gets to page nine or so. And I notice that it I'm like, wait, where's that dude I did? And where's Brian Spiderman facing? And Oh, yeah, and Frankenstein and Frankenstein they weren't showing up. And I went, what is this?
So I dig in there and it turns out the way the host works when you generate images based on Jason data. It has a hard limit by default on the script that's on the host that I don't control that or I can. I just didn't know it was there. So this little script that kind of runs that makes all this happens like a little agent. And I have to go in there and tell it don't cap it at a hundred had a cap it 100. Gotcha. So after a hundred, it was just dropping it would drop them on the other end like a straw. New in, new out, right? And we don't need to, there's zero reason to do that. So I went and fixed it and changed it to unlimited. So now it'll keep everything. But it turns out because that stuff was just like encrypted mush mush. They're gone. Oh, well, that's all right. No, no, no, not Spider Man from Brian. Yeah, Spider Man is still there. But think of my Spider Man as a snowflake that was there gave its, gave its joy to those around it who sought and then disappear. Yeah, think of it that way. I like it. It's an ephemeral. It's like a. It's like life. Yeah. No, that's right.
Tears and rain, and then you go, tears and rain when you just put your head down in slow motion, and finally let that dove go. Stephanie Inuppets posted a YouTube video, I wonder if this is, looks like it might be a movie mention from the Toby McGuire films probably. Okay, see this is what we like when someone else does the work or into it. Yep. Okay, so I'm hitting she's like, let's go to the one and a half minute mark. All right, I can do that. Stephanie, just for future, you can share timestamps. I'm not gonna get involved. That involves an app and she doesn't want to do that. Yeah, that's true. Um, wait a minute, how far in minute what? One minute 30. 30. All right, we'll go to 22 just to be safe. Okay, here we go. Very of New York is pleased to present our guest of honor. He's the first man to play football on the moon. The handsome, the heroic, the delicious Captain John Jameson. John Jameson, here we go.
I heard Jameson. Did you hear Jameson? Yes, I heard Jameson as well. Or is it so close that we're just Jameson, Jameson? Jameson. I definitely heard three syllables. I did too. Yeah, you know what? I'm gonna go do it one more time. Captain John Jameson. Yeah, I heard Jameson. John Jameson. All right, right before he became Man Wolf, I mean Venom. Oh, they read Con that stuff. Shit. Yeah. John Jameson became Man Wolf in the comics, people. Yeah, he went to the moon, came back and became Man Wolf. It's ridiculous by the way. Oh, because of the moon, I guess. Yeah, because of the moons and wolves. It was the 60s, man. They were just throwing stuff at the wall. They didn't want to introduce the whole black suit thing by Spider-Man going to the Secret Wars planet with the Beyonder and a hundred of his best friends and enemies and pulling it out of a spigot. Yep. Yep. Well, I think what this has taught us is that current canon is Jameson. So, sorry, 1960s bad cartoon.
It's the way of it now. Yep. It's the way of it. This is the time we live in. What is right? I'm just supposed to do. I mean, I know it was 2001 or whatever it was, but anyway. Let's get to, oh, so go use it. Mydrawings.com is the point. Go get some more doodles in there. More nonsense. The more you do, the more I can test and the more I can fix bugs and issues. And there was all kinds of mobile stuff I missed and now it's all good. So, go enjoy the more you draw, the more you tooth, the more you tooth, the better you feel, let's have my drawings with every meal. That's right. It's something like that. And a reminder about it that there's no sign enough. They don't do cookie cookies or any kind of nothing. It's just for fun like the internet used to be. All right. I'm making a stand here. We're going back to 1998. When is the banner ad start? Can I buy a banner ad to put on your site's job? Can I punch the monkey? How do I punch the monkey? How do I punch the monkey? How can I get a bill of my area looking for me?
So some of that will be familiar to some of you and some of it won't. Yes, exactly. I wonder if the monkey thing is still like knowledge for anyone under 30, probably not. Yeah, probably not. Probably not. All right. We got to get to a game. Yeah. It's game time. And let's see if he's even joined. He has because he's awesome. Oh, that's good. Oh, that's good. It is good. Reload the page. Oh, yeah, I should log in. Am I? I am. All right. Good deal. Let's go ahead and play this intro here for this whole thing. Mm. Mm. Mm. Lo and behold, we have one brine done away with us today to play a game. Hello, brine done away. Oh, hi, Scott Bryant. Hey, man. Hello. Let's go in on, dude. How are you? You know the usuals. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I went for a walk. And then I went to the morning and I got it. Just started drizzling. It's like, oh, it's be fine. Yeah. No, the rain did not. You didn't start drizzling. Whatever that even means. No, no, no. I didn't even know how I would drizzle.
But yeah. But no, it was the rain. And it was outside. And I was like, is this raining just a little bit? And then it ended up raining more. And then eventually I was just wet. I was just walking in the rain. And I saw you in him. In the rain. In the rain. Welcome to karaoke Wednesday. Wow. That was pretty awesome. My life had gone so long without thinking about that song. Is that Millie Vanille? No, that was playing another English Millie Vanille. That was one hit, one hit wonder. Oh, oh, I love it. Something like that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, but I'll be sure. I'll be sure. No, no, no, no. I have no idea who sang that. I do remember it on the radio and thinking, this is a bad song. We didn't think that. What about the part where you said silly rabbit tricks for kids? And then you like forgot about that part. All right. Fine. I mean, I know I should always celebrate tricks references. But it's right. It's hard for me.
Anyway, Brian is here. The other Brian is ready. I'm Scott. And let's play a game. So Brian, let's play a game. How does this game work? Please explain it to the people. Yes. It's time to play the tadpule. If you'd I've surveyed the tadpule on some nerdy topics. And Scott and Brian will have to predict the answers that they gave us. It is their job. Their job to see how many of those answers they can guess at the end of the game. Two. We will add up all the points. Two. And the winner will actually be winning two prizes for their listener contestant, unless you run out or other runner up. And contestants will be pulled from our supporters at patreon at patreon.com slash tms. Scott is playing for Paul St. Germain, the third. Yes. A familiar name. A familiar gentleman. And a lovely gentleman. And Brian is playing for Matt Bogey. Oh, Matt Bogey. Oh, very. That's bullshit. Yeah. Something like a fancy wine. Where's Barry to help us understand? Barry. Yeah. All right. Well, let's get to it. Jones.
How do we forget that? Oh, was it was orange juice Jones that did lock in the rain? Hold on. The guy's name is orange. Oran. Oran. Quotes juice. Yes. Orange juice. Yes. It makes me want to be depressed and stay inside all day. I don't know. It's a terrible. And he won't see you walking in the rain. So perfect. Exactly. Yeah. What do you want with your breakfast? I don't know. I've kind of go a little bit of an orange juice Jones today. I think I got there because Johnny Camp was on the radio for some reason this morning. Talking about his Friday night, just got paid. I'm like, what is like Wednesday? This is not the right day to play this. I don't know. I was like, what about all those other songs? Yeah, Johnny Camp like died like in the Caribbean or something like. Oh, I remember this guy, the Bahama guy. He did, he did a discapied Friday night. Yeah. Sorry. I'm doing everything apologies. It's all right. He was like a distant cousin to like Rick James.
It felt like he wasn't. He felt like it. It's come from the same club. Yeah. All right. Let's do this. Okay. Let's do it. And Gary to answer this. We asked 4510 pullers to name a band with a color in its name. Scott. Oh my gosh, my brain. I just went, I have to say what I was thinking. In living color. It's in living color. Sure. Sure. Why not? Show me in living color. Shit. In living color. The band, the band is called living color. The TV show was called in living color. Oh, that's right. Gosh dang it. Double whammy, dude. What's the opposite of a victory pickle? Because I get that. Excuse. All right, Brian, all the answers available to you. Oh, yeah. Okay. All right. This is a little easier when you have a little second to think. I'm going to go with is almost time. You know what? You wait me up in September ends. I'm going to say it's some green day. They had a June or a name too, but I don't think that's a color.
No. Show me. Green day. Well, no, dookie. Dookie color. Yeah. If you say something is dookie colored, people know exactly what color you're talking about. So, yeah, they don't go. Oh, it's a nice chart. True. Is it? No, it's blue brown, you dummy. Exactly. Very good. I'm seeing some do-do brown. Yeah. That's right. Number one answer on the board. Congratulations, Brian. That means regardless, you got control of the board. As long as you answered any of the answers on the board, you've gotten control of the board. So I got you. I got you. I got you. Let's keep it going. You got nine answers left. What do you got? The first thing that I came to mind was pink Floyd. Oh, gosh dang it. Sure. Which one's pink? I think it's the guy named Floyd. He's pretty good. Show me pink Floyd. And number two answer. Yeah. Pink Floyd. Let's see color, color names. Oh my gosh. Now I'm blanking.
And there's fire trucks going on the road. Oh no, that's your band called red fire trucks. No. Oh, time. Time to start the timer on them anyway. Oh my god. It's fine. Black black Sabbath. Oh, shit. Black Sabbath. All right. That's not really a color. So it's these to tell us. Yeah. What is the absence of color? Yeah. Didn't that get debunked or stifled? I can't remember. I can buy a can of paint. It says black on it. That's a color. Black Sabbath. Third. I know. Let's see how long you can keep this going. Oh, no, I want to. Hmm. All right. Let's see. I like. There's the. I don't want to say those words. I'm just. I started doing it by just saying name and colors. You're going to start time right now. Um. Um. Um. I mean, that's not a bad way to do it. Think of colors. Think of there's a big right. Because what? Yeah. I just go white.
And I think of a band of white stripes. Oh, shit. A color. Is that a color? It's a color. It's a clean color. Yeah. Show me white stripes. You doing it, folks? I can get extra point. No. If you do this, if you do this all the way to number 10, you get all the, why don't you get all the points? Obviously, but. Yeah. Yeah. You get a prize of something. Yeah. You're getting a steam game code out of this. So that I'm looking at the color. Or a poorly weighted Spider-Man Christmas. Yeah. A front heavy Spider-Man head. That's right. Great. I'm looking at some blue right now and thinking of blue oyster cult. That seems like a band. And I'll probably be right on the list, but I'll bet it's your me blue oyster cult. No. You skipped one. Yeah. You skipped one. So for people listening, he's kept one, two, three, four, and six in that order. Take it. Crazy. And by the way, Kudos to the people who wrote, loist, are called with the correct placement
of the Oomla over the O. Nice. Nicely done. Very good. Um. Oh my gosh. I'm in a hundred different Spinal Tap jokes. Johnny Kim. Oh, Johnny, Johnny Kim. What's up, shut up. You're messing with. What is Kim colored? I don't know. Right. Johnny colored, I guess. Right. Yeah. Oh my gosh. Now I'm thinking now, let me go back through. Is it the comment wins whites? Sure. There's the black, black eyed peas. They're also, that's a, that's a black, yeah, black eyed peas. Yes, I got peace. Sure. All right. Show me black eyed peas. I, I, you were robbed in that one. That should have been the. Yeah. As a matter of fact, I'll even tell you black eyed peas were in the top. Where were they? They were a number 16. So. Okay. Close to the top. Yeah. I'm a little worried about this one, but let's stay with white and dude white stripes.
All right. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I was looking at white stripes. White zombies. Oh, sure. All right. Smart. Show me white zombie. Oh. Oh. Oh. I thought you was going to go where I was going with. Okay, go ahead. Listen. Number 29 was white zombie. That should have been higher. Yeah. William. Well, now that you said that, I'm now I'm afraid to use the one that I thought you were going to say because I'm going to say it. The black keys. Fine. All right. Show me. He's a lower boy. Show me black keys. Number nine. Oh, nice. Strolling me here. Number nine. Six of the answers have been revealed. All three have gone to Brian Dunway with a score of 25 to Scott's zero. Still not mathematically eliminated though. Oh, how about just colors like pink? Yeah. Why not? Do pink. Yeah, just pink. Just pink. All right.
If you spell it correctly, you have to spell it correctly. With the way that she's got the way she's got like this, the animation in the mark for the eyes. She does. She doesn't need. Yep. All right. Or whatever they do. Anyway, since you spelled it correctly, show me pink. Oh, number 13 just out just outside the top 10. And I can't stop singing red, red wine and freaking. Those are song titles. Yeah. And you be 40 does not contain a color. No, umber is the you and you be 40s for umber. Yeah, yeah. Umber. Yeah. Umber backwards. Um, I'm going with the red hot chili peppers. Red. Oh, the red hot. Oh, chili peppers. Yeah. Yeah. Even though it's more of a temperature denotion, I think it's still a color. So I mean, it's a color and it's a name. It's uh, yeah. Uh, show me red hot chili peppers. Okay. And unshowny the red hot chili peppers. Number five. Yeah. On the board. Do you take them out of five points?
Okay. It's the one he missed. Yeah. Yeah. Uh-huh. Um, I'm scared to go. You know, 75% of women who seek menopause care don't receive it. I've been writing about food and restaurants for almost 50 years. My whole career really, and what I know is that the good restaurants all have something in common. They're busy, genuinely, chaotic, busy. And somehow in the last few years,
the best of them have begun to make it look easy. And do you know why? Because they're running on toasts technology. Toast is built for restaurant owners who understand that toasts tools keep the line moving and keep their customers happy with fewer mistakes and hiccups in ordering and paying. For owners, that turns busy into business. To learn more, head to toastab.com. That's T-O-A-S-T-T-A-B toastab.com. Toast, built for busy. Oh, man, looking at colors does help. But then what's the name of that band? It's deep purple. Deep purple. It's deep purple. Yeah, deep. Like how you went up on the deep purple. There are the ones that tried to smoke water. Yeah. Show me a deep purple. Bonk. Take it. Number seven. Okay. Scott's making a rally.
If he gets these last two, he wins. And what an incredible rally this would be. Yeah. That would be amazing. Yeah, 12 points to Brent's 25. Can the judge tell me if it's, well, pinks an individual. So I guess we've already proven that it can be a band or individual. That's what the tackle answered. And the pink was number 13. And there's a whole slew of one name that I keep thinking of. I keep going, ugh. I got one that's a favor from the 80s that is spelled wrong, though. How about spelling? It doesn't, spelling is fine. All right. I like you spelling just fine. I like me. I like this spelling. I guess misspelling would be fine. Yeah. Yeah. So in the 80, or in the, yeah, in the 80s, we had that beer boat boat. So I'm going to go with those yellow. Chik-chik-chik-chik. Yeah, absolutely. Show me Boris Blank and Dieter Meyer and the band, yellow.
Oh, no. Damn it. That's too bad. It is too bad. One of my favorites, I still have a ton of yellow CDs. Only one person said yellow. George. Besides, besides, just now. They say, oh, yellow. Yeah, only 12 movies used that song, but only one person. I know, that one's song. Nobody ever used pinball chacha, which is just a, it's a crime. It's a travesty. It's a great song. Love it. Mm-hmm. Somehow, yeah. Okay. My last strike though. And if I miss it, Scott could run the board back to the scene. He could run the board. I can't even see him to do it. Yeah. So I'm going to try to be stupid here. Okay. I want to say Bobby Brown because it's hilarious, but I think James Brown has the, uh, of the Browns. Yeah. The more the more known, well known, sure. Yeah. All right. Good call. I'm going to say James Brown. James Brown. James Brown. Uh, Shelby James Brown.
No. Uh, I don't, I'm trying to see if anyone, it's really funny, but James Brown surprisingly, I think people really did for the most part try to stick to groups. Yeah. But James Brown. Um, all right. Scott, you got two answers left on the board. James Brown or breakers. Well, I'm definitely not doing Jackson Brown. He's even more obscure. Yes. Oh my gosh, dude. All right. Did we do? We did white stripes. I tried white. You tried to do it again. Yeah. You tried to do white stripes the second time. Um, white snake. Oh, that was good. White snake. I'm scared. All right. Here's Scott's goes again on his own. Picking the roadies. I've never, the only roadies ever known. Show me white snake. Oh, yeah. White snake. White snake. Uh, white snake. Where are they? They were mid, yeah, 19 white snake.
They're, they're sitting in the car. Why does my dance in her hood right now? I'm going to open this chat and see. I'm mad at myself. Oh, black pink is a brilliant. I know that black. They've got two colors in their name. However, and Lisa, who's been spinning off from that has been doing fabulous. And rosakes. Not to mention. Logo is well, yeah. Yeah. Not on there. Not on there. Number 12 was black pink. Um, here. I'll tell you the colors and we can see if you can get it from there. Red is in that in the in our number eight band. I thought a red red red red. Red red barn. Red. Well, that's hard. Red. yaz hard. I'll help you. Hello. I'll help you. I don't think you've read. Don't think of red as the first word in the name. OK, uh, dropped in the red. uh, drop dead Fred, who's red real real red. I mean that does technically contain drop dead Fred does contain the word red. It's true. You can't spell drop dead Fred without red. You can't hate to be a friend. Uh, wait. Uh, it's the last, is it the last word? It is
the last word. Oh, isn't that the tadpole is it simply red? It is simply red. That's number eight. That's number eight. That's number eight. You should have said you guys are thinking too hard. It's real. Oh, yeah. I'm not going to do that. Oh, no. Why does it matter? That's a song, right? Hold my hair. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Very good. Uh, and, uh, number 10, that's a surprising one to me, but it is a band that contains the word blue. I mean, I probably could give you 10, 10 guesses and you put blues, travel or oyster cult. Do we do? Blue, blue, travel or should have been the higher. Blue's traveler is number 17. Uh, blue, uh, blue oyster cult. Oh, we already have. There's another blue thing. What a, athcrap. More, more, another more modern band. I mean, in comparison to a lot of the ones. They have all the depressing songs. They do. Yep. And that band is called blue October October, October, October. Yes. I don't know who that is. I don't, I don't,
doesn't. Blue's brothers was year number 11. That would have gotten you a, uh, bonus. Some of the other ones on the list, uh, black flag, blue man group, cream, the black crows, uh, green jelly or green, yellow moody blues, Pearl Jam, Red House painters, Pearl Ayes, Pearl White, uh, red jumpsuit apparatus, red velvet yellow card, erosmith. I don't know why somebody put erosmith, but okay. Uh, August Burns red, big black, black breath, Delia murder, black flames, black label society, blood orange blue bell, blue bell ice cream. Again, not a band, not a band. Uh, I don't, that to my knowledge. Maybe a look, maybe a local band blue, on it, blue, two blue Peter blue rodeo, blue soy, uh, blue sweet. I should go to the doctor if you get blue Peter, uh, chromio, uh, Conan Gray, Goldschlager green machine, IBM jet blue, King Crimson. Wow. Uh, Maroon five is a very good one right there. King Crimson is one, right? King Crimson is a band. Yeah, it was a super group with,
uh, bunch of, uh, folks from other bands. That's right. Um, uh, Metallica, who's a stretch with talent. Something is metallic colored, I guess. Yeah. Uh, plain white teas, uh, red cross red stripe, the shocking blue, uh, yeah, Venus, uh, Tangerine dream, uh, and yellow, oh, I'm sorry, yellow magic orchestra, no yellow card. Yellow card was up there. Yellow card was, uh, 30. Yeah, it was the, the yellow card was the last one that had more than one person saying it. There's some alternative band called orange and lemons. Those could both. Oh, really? I wonder if there, uh, there might be a, I wonder if they're an HTC cover band because that was the name of an HTC, a really good HTC album was, oh, my pages and lemons. Yeah, might be. Uh, well, all I know is Brian one and got the victory pickle. Uh, you get a victory pickle. Congratulations. So does our winner, Brian, what do they win? Yeah. Matt Bogey is going to get, uh, from, uh, from Zama B is going to get a copy
of I love sky and splendor. Oh, is that splendor based on the board game? I don't know. I don't know. Before we give that one up, I don't know. I probably just, uh, it exists should be enough. It is. Uh, so instead, listen, we, we get to do this every once in a while people. It's, it's fair. Uh, call of Warren. Oh, call of war is an excellent alternative. Very good. Great. As a matter of fact, some might say better because, um, he won't get used code for me. Uh, so congratulations on that. Um, but don't worry, uh, Paul St. Germain, the third, you're going to get a copy of Carcasson tiles and tactics. Speaking of board of video games, based on really good board games. Yeah. The Carcasson, uh, game adaptation or video game is very good. It's quite, quite well done. I had to tell you guys something about real quick about co-bro because we're film sack guys here. Yeah. Before I forget
about it last night, 11 o'clock at night. I suddenly hear really loud noise coming from what sounds like a TV. I thought it was a neighbor because I have windows open right now. I thought it was. I didn't know what it was. I was like, next night, even home from work, like we don't know what any, we don't know what's going on. Just this loud sound. And I decided to go on a little hunt. I come downstairs, I walk into my office where the sound seems to be coming from. And this screen over here is playing at full volume. Cobra with Sylvester Stallone, the movie. Oh, really? And it's just playing just out of nowhere. It's start playing. The only thing I can think of is somehow the remote upstairs, which is also a Roku remote triggered this somehow. I don't know. It just started playing. And so the TV is this thing is off normally, except during shows right now. It's got you guys up here. But during the rest of the night, it's off. Somehow this thing is on and playing Cobra at full volume. That's weird. No idea what the hell that was about. I don't have to
do it. Stopper my mum will shoot. No, that, you know, of all the Sylvester Stallone projects, it could have played. It's it's it's it could be way worse. Yeah. It could have been over the top or something. I actually I kind of like that movie. I do too. Yeah. Let's leave me halfway with that one. Yeah. It's got some. It would have been fine. It's got some nice music. All right. Don't wait tonight. Me and you 4 p.m. mountain time. We'll get together and do a little play retro after that. A little watch retro. It's going to be a fun night. Oh, yeah. Can't wait. You look at the way to get my, yeah, my mutant powers on as we play the X-Men Legends game from 2004. Yeah. Popular basketball. Yeah. Very, very good action RPG. It was. Yeah. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. And they're cool. Diablo rip off. That was great on PC. And I forgot the name. Marble. Ultimate, ultimate lines. Ultimate lines. Yeah. Love it. Was to top down or not top down. But yeah, Diablo style. Yeah. And that's what this is. You shut it down and it pisses me off. That game was so
good. Anyway, there's the token fighting coming out sometime soon. Oh, that's way out. It's about a month or something. I think. Oh, really that long. Yeah. For whatever reason, I thought it was October. It was another one that's coming out October. Maybe three weeks. I don't know. Another marble thing. It's not. Yeah. You're right. The token Legends already came out. Well, there's another one that's coming out. Shoot. Yeah. Marvel game. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Another Marvel. I thought it was the Marvel fighting game, but that is token. I don't know. I don't know. Another major one anyway. Oh, that's an older one. The the sell shaded. No, not Wolverine. I know that's already out. It was another side scroller fighting with more sells sell shaded graphics. Don't know what that is. Yeah. I can't remember. I know there's a there's a new he man game plays like that cosmic invasion. That's it. Get this under that one's been out for a while or that one's still. I don't know about where that one is. Is that one not out yet? Cosmic invasion. That one had to really cool. Been out for a while. Okay. Oh, yeah. Looks like it's been. Oh,
December 2025. Okay. God. That thing's been out a lot longer than I have. Oh, yeah. That's right. Bowen John played this and I forgot all about it. Okay. Yeah. It's good though. It's really good. Really? Yeah. Well regarded. It's the same people that did the turtles remake thing that they did, which was also really good. Yeah. Yeah. It looks like that. That's well tonight. We'll be talking about none of that. Instead, we'll talk about that X-Men game from the early arts and it's very exciting to even think that that was more than 20 years ago, 22 years ago to be exact. So it is retro. Brian Dunnoway, kiss our butts. All right. He's out. Now, here's the news that I like to share with everybody. Okay. These you can tell I'm pushing buttons here. Little Stolly. Little Stolly. Next Stolly. All right. It's time for this. Isn't technology wonderful. It sure can be, but only when Tom Merritt joins us on the line and he's doing that right now. Hi, Tom. How are you? I am on the line. Yep. You're on the line. Hold the line, Tom, because you're on it. Hold the line.
Oh, yeah. Love isn't always on time. Always. Sometimes always on time. You know, for a guy knee deep in the K-pop world, you sure do remember the classics. Like were you shouting black pink during that last, uh, Ted Pouley feud game? I don't know. I didn't hear. I he wasn't feeding it to me and I turn it off before I joined. So I make sense. Yeah. You don't want echoes and stuff. What a nightmare. No, definitely not. That's a, that's what Tom's a pro. We're playing Ted Pouley food feud to name a game that erms Chiya game. Name a band that has a color in its name. Yeah. And we thought black pink is true. Yeah, they have two in it. I thought that would be in the top 10. It wasn't even in, it was 12. Yeah. It was a red rider. Oh, that's another good one. But wasn't that in there? No. But we had like, you know, white snake, white stripes blue oyster coal. That was in the top 10. What was number one again, Brian? Green day. Green day. That's right. Green day black Sabbath, white stripes, black. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's good stuff. Deep purple.
But we're not because now that you're here, we can finally get this tech answer that we've been waiting for all this week. And uh, you're not forever be better at Korean than I am. And I grew up with three Korean people. So I was really sad. I didn't get to see her brother during nerdacular. So he would, uh, he would have loved to see horrible Korean Adam having laugh at me. That's all right. He's, uh, he's not too judgmental with that stuff, but he, that's nice. He does get corrective occasionally. That's actually helpful. Yeah. Yeah. It's not too bad. He's also free. I found that Koreans are like that when I've tried to speak Korea. They, they tend to be like, Oh, no, that's not right. Yeah. No, they'll let you know. They don't, they don't, they don't, it's a very nice way. But it's, yeah. Yeah. Unless you're from there, they get really weird. If you're from there, come to America for a long time. Forget the language. Go back and then sound rusty at it. They get mad at that. Uh, I actually, that cultural thing, but my brother got punched in the nose once for that. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. There was some extenuating circumstances like that. I just said,
the guy that punched in me had been, you know, severely inebriated or something. I don't know what the full story is, but yeah, it's, it's E-A-O, not E-Soy-O. Oh, pow, pow. Take that jerk. All right. Uh, we're going to get to this question. This is Tom's time to answer a hard tech question. That's what we do on Wednesdays. I don't know how hard this one is, but it's an interesting one. Candid Con wrote in. Candid Con. He says, my Android friend. He has hard tea questions. That's right. That's my favorite line from that movie. I'm glad it's you brought that up. All right. My Android friend says the new Apple foldable uses a Samsung screen. Is this true? And if it is, are all these quote unquote competitors, or is he wrote compatitors, uh, using each other's stuff and just pretending like they're not working together? How does that stuff work? Oh my gosh. It's a little incestuous, Tom. How come? Let me, uh, let me blow your mind a little further, Candid Con. Some iPhone models use Samsung displays,
some use LG displays within the same model. So you could, depending on which one you buy, your iPhone 18 might have an LG display or a Samsung display in it. I shouldn't say iPhone 18, because I haven't checked, but in some models, that's accurate. Uh, and, and the reason is, and this is one of those things I love, uh, helping people to understand because it kind of blows everybody's mind when they realize it. Uh, Samsung and LG as well are huge conglomerates. So we think of Samsung as the people who make the TVs and the phones, right? Because those are the most popular items they sell in the United States, but they also sell insurance. Uh, they have some retail operations. Uh, and one of their, their, well, chips are probably their most successful outlet. They, they make RAM. That's in everything. Uh, you'll find Samsung RAM all over the place, including Apple products as well. Uh, but they also make displays. Uh, and that display section of
Samsung is a separate company from the, the section that makes the phones. So the Samsung phones do tend to use the Samsung displays. Uh, unless you get down to their, their cheaper ones, some of the cheaper entry-level Samsung phones will use displays from a Chinese manufacturer that makes them cheaper than Samsung does. Uh, but here's one, another one that'll blow you your mind. Some Samsung televisions use LG displays. Uh, because LG makes a certain type of QO lead that Samsung doesn't make yet. Uh, so you can, if you want to wrap your head around it, it's not that they're pretending to compete. It's that these companies are so big that they have different arms and those different arms have different goals. Probably the one that most people in the audience would be familiar with is Sony, where you have Sony pictures entertainment and Sony games entertainment. Uh, and the games, people and the Sony pictures, people don't always talk to each other. And then you also have Sony electronics. Uh, and most famously back in the 2000s, you had Sony electronics making ways for
you to rip movies. And then you had, uh, Sony pictures trying to fight people from doing that. So, yeah, it's, it, it is when you have companies this big, they'll have subsidiaries that are separated from each other. And in fact, when you see things like, oh, a Samsung display is being used by Apple, or, uh, you're, you're seeing an LG display being used by Samsung, that's a sign of healthy competition. It means that none of those companies have such a corner on the market that they don't have to use parts, uh, from competitors that are competing with them in other areas. Right. Right. So like, uh, the one example I thought of is something my dad used to talk about Toyota and Subaru competitors in the market. Yeah. Yeah. Have, um, let's see, the co-developed Toyota GR86 and the Subaru BRZ. Mm-hmm. They have the same chassis, the same interior layout. Like essentially, it's the same same car foundation, exactly. And then they build on top of that. Like the old Ford Mercury thing, they used to be. Yeah. And that is exactly this sort of thing. Like Mazda and Fiat, uh,
what was another one I read about? Oh, Toyota and BMW, they had for the new Super, they use, BMW engine block thing. And so they partnered with them. But internationally, or at a, at a, on a dealership level, you're not going in there and they're all friends hanging holding hands. But it doesn't, like you said, these are, they're massive. Those are co-designs. This, what, what, what con here, candid, con, sorry, uh, is identifying is, is more of a, just like, it's a, you're, you're looking for the best parts supplier, right? And you don't care that Samsung's display subsidiary happens to be in the same big conglomerate as Samsung's phone district subsidiary. Because Samsung's phone subsidiary has to buy the displays from Samsung's display subsidiary. Now, granted, up at the top, that keeps all the money in the company. But it's, it's a drag on the bottom line of Samsung electronics to buy the displays from Samsung display, right? Uh, good, because that gets charged across the company. Uh, so if they can find one cheaper or better,
they will. Uh, and you see this with Samsung chips. Uh, you don't always have the Samsung chip inside the Samsung phones. And in fact, the same galaxy model will often have a Qualcomm chip in North America, but they'll have one of Samsung's own chips in Asia. Uh, and a lot of that just has to do with supply lines and, and costs and, and all of that sort of thing. So I just thought of the, but the one that in my life is probably the most prominent is a, is a current one, which is Sony PlayStation for all of their online stuff, their cloud play, all of it. Oh, yeah. Is run on Microsoft Azure servers. That's another good example, which sounds like the ultimate like in bed with each other thing. But then again, you're talking about a totally different arm of Microsoft Azure Azure is the cloud services provider and they are, they have a separate goals and separate PNL from Xbox, uh, which is an entirely separate division. Yeah, that's stuff. That's stuff's wild to me because we're not even talking about just parts and, and, and that sort of thing. We're talking, yeah, actual services sometimes make that. And that's actually, I think with
Microsoft, they're just divisions, whereas with Samsung, they're actually separate companies all owned by the Samsung conglomerate. Yeah. Uh, so there's even more separation. Yeah, and more, you Gemini, Google's Gemini backing Apple's new series. Yeah, that's another good example of it. It's like, oh, we have a technology provider. Apple also uses Amazon, uh, AWS and Google Cloud to provide iCloud, right? So, uh, again, these are all signs of a healthy market when you see this because it means Google can't just shut people out. They have to sell their stuff and Apple can't just run all their stuff themselves. They have to, they have to go and buy things. So you, you want to see that kind of stuff. It also means that these companies are incredibly huge, that they're so huge that they can have departments that don't care whether the other department succeeds or not. Yeah. Now, if you walk into your kitchen and an Apple is doing it with a banana, then I'd start to worry about the crossover. Okay. I've heard about a lot of things. Yeah, there's you're seeing that. Yeah. I'd check the salad. You just check your walldorf.
That's right. All right. Well, that's a, that's really interesting. I think, I think a lot of people maybe knew a lot of this, but I think there's some people that just see any kind of directional change of a company to say, well, we're making their displays, but we also compete with them in the marketplace. I think they see that as some kind of, like it helps you the concept of a war between these wrong, right? It's cats and dogs sleeping together mass insanity. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Is it cats and dogs sleeping together? It's a living, living together. I mean, I don't know what, what ghost busters Tom watched. Yeah. Well, see, there's a different release from Samsung than there is. Oh, I see. Not to be confused with Cat and chicken porn. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, we didn't. I don't know where your head went. I thought they were just taking a nice little cozy sleeping, sure, sure. Like cats and dogs are prone to do occasionally. Yes. Well, that's all well and good. Candid con we hope we were both candid and And no, not Con like no. We hope we were candid in our answer today and we hope it helps you understand. And we have to understand the pros and cons.
There you go, the pros and cons go over the deck. We've had to Tom to make it weirder than the apple of the banana doing in a kitchen. Somehow it was possible. I was trying to get Scott cover. Yeah, thank you. Thanks for the interference, I appreciate it. Tom Marrett, there's always something going on where you're at tell people more this week was now. If you want more of my male pro-pissons, head on over to daily tech news show, dailytechnewshow.com. I haven't mentioned this anywhere outside of our discord brand new website design. Oh cool. Can we look at it right now? I guess we can. It's live. Go check it out. I actually haven't loaded it in the past. No, it's true. Yeah, exactly. Hopefully it's there. It's dailytechnewshow.com. But yeah, it's one of the things that the patrons really were helpful on is going through in the staging and making sure that everything looked good and coming up with some cool ideas and stuff. There's a couple of fun Easter eggs in there and everything.
But it makes it easier to figure out what we're doing. And one of the things we're doing is every Friday doing a live stream. It is our big question of the week. We have a fun little debate around the big question in tech every week. And I as Actar will be joining us this Friday. So pop on in at 2PM Eastern to join us at dailytechnewshow.com slash live. Bringing the old family back together. I like it. Tom Meredith is always a pleasure. And he is ace to tech on all the socials if you want to go follow him on those things. Tom Meredith have a fantastic week. Thanks everybody. See you next time. See ya. He doodled something on my drawings, but he didn't use his name so I don't know what he did. Oh really? So he just told you that he didn't. He didn't tell you what he did. And I kind of want to know. Nice. I was trying to, I was like, I'm going to guess. But then I thought that's dangerous. Why would I guess? Yeah. Yeah. Oh no, it's doing. It's good reminder that I need to put some new doodles on there. Yeah. Hop on there and make some new stuff. Someone just did fart gas here recently.
It's like chuck buyers is in there. We got a teenage mutant Ninja Turtle. Which ones the one with the blue? Is that Donatello with the blue? I can never keep track of it. I don't actually know that. That's a really good one. Look at the like the, it's excellent. Yeah. I'm impressed. The dotting around the, the mask there. Every once in a while, do you guys will make something crazy? Like way down this list. And then every once in a while, one of you will draw penis. Yeah. Very, very rarely. So far, we haven't had too many, too many problems. But it's probably, Mulger probably had some temptation to put a little weiner on this guy. Probably. Yeah. I mean, probably. He's under the tent like rolling. That's right. I drawings.com everybody. Go check it out. All right. Brian, it's time for an email and. Yes. Supply those. I need to push a thing. Here we go. This is about the jugs of pee. All right. Got an email from. Uh, this is about road rash and the comic. This is from road rash. Oh, this is from road rash in Canada. Oh, okay. Thinking it was about the games. We just talked about it on, um, me and Dunway did. Anyway, dear sketch and brush.
Just the other day, let's need to tell Dr. Nikki about studying cadavers to learn muscular and skeletal systems. So you would draw humans properly. That gross got out the most with the dead bodies. Sorry. With the dead bodies was the fungi growth from the, um, umbilicus. Ooh. Ooh. Uh, so what he's talking about is this. Yeah, the Mario, uh, yeah, put it up. So people didn't see it. It was. It was gross. Yeah. So my latest comic is Mario asking the Ouija. Does this look infected? And he's got this nasty mushroom growth coming out of his belly button. Yeah. I actually think it was inspired by. It's the last of us. I actually, in this case, I think it came from Dan talking about his hernia. I think that's where it came from. Oh, yeah. Okay. It was subconscious of it was either way, but, uh, anyway, that's over at new duck.com. You can go see the comic for yourself. But, um, it's a little gross. It is a little gross. You know, my daughter's first comment was she says, why do you have to do nipples? Well, I mean, Mario's nipples. I would think so. Yeah. And I, like, he's, he's not, um, Maui from Moana.
Come on. No. Super Mario Odyssey. He has nipples. He wears like a, oh, dude, is there, would we see him sure? Yeah, he's got a little, uh, see if I can find it. Is that the, the floor at a level? Uh, this sea. Let's see. It was kind of like that. It was like a, oh, yeah, please, please, please, please Google search Mario with nipples, uh, for us all found it. And he has, this is peace algorithm. Yeah. Yeah. Here it is right here. So here he is. Oh, yeah. He doesn't have chest hair though. He's, uh, he's like a, he's like a, he's like a 40 year old man from the neck up, but he up 12 from the neck down. Yep. But if you were wondering, like, I would say, hey, I don't know, Disney or whoever doesn't put nipples on stuff, get, get out there. Get that done. Yeah. Look at his little Mario nips. That's cute. I like those a lot. Yes. Alright. Uh, that's that for that email. Thanks so much. Uh, for that message, Road Rash in Canada. If you'd like to email us here directly on the show, you can do that very simply.
And easily just head to the website and use the email or the built in thing to do voice mails and texts we'd love to hear from you at frogpants.com slash TMS. I think that's everything. Is that everything, Scott? I got, I got nothing else. Alright. Do I? No, I don't. I have nothing else, Brian. Let's get out of here with a song. Play show. Sure. Uh, do you remember Indian the middle, Scott, when, uh, in the middle of the show, we used to have an indie song. We called it Indian the middle. Well, how about Indie in the middle of the week? Because we've been able to show, but it's in the middle of the week. Um, we've got Portland singer songwriter Lexi who has a brand new EP called San Miguel, which is coming out November 6th. But this is the first single from the album. It's called swimming. Um, she describes it as a real wake reawakening to your own body and feeling alive. I just call it swimming. Here is Lexi. I just call it. There put some light, my body calls.
You got me swimming. Black, baby, and silk. You've got yours beneath my moon on our forest. You've got me swimming. Higher, better, right? The eagle's eyes. Hey, yes, I'm back. My body screams for more. You want to touch my face on the cross the moon. You feel it now. You're swimming to. You're swimming to. The weight of stone, the morning light, watching you try and hide. Baby, you're swimming.
Just come down to the deep with me. I know I'm a little crazy, but you'll see. You'll see it like a swimming. Deep inside the cave, the lily goes. Hey, yes, I'm back. My body screams for more. Let that baby bend. Let me kiss your head. Who cares, be me, oh. I'll never understand. You want to touch my face on the cross the moon. You feel it now. You're swimming to. You're swimming to.
Higher, better, right? Higher, better, right? The eagle's eyes. Hey, yes, I'm back. My body screams for more. You want to touch my face on the cross the moon. You feel it now. You're swimming to. You're swimming to. You're swimming to. You're swimming to. I'm swimming to. Find all our shows at frogpants.com. Yeah, what is it? Yeah, only it's not junior.
