We got some with increasing clouds in San Tanoon a stray shower or thunderstorm possible. But not a real high percentage. The high today is 95 and then tomorrow the high 89 Wednesday Thursday 83 with an overnight low of 60. That's going to feel great. Worms up again end of the weekend of the weekend 86 but certainly not the 100 degrees that we've been dealing with. Did you happen to watch the Titans game against the Eagles on the field in Nashville three hours to our east. The cleats were melting. It was 150 degrees on the turf. This Mike Miller's foundation somewhat and he's not as involved as he once was but they still raised money and do a lot of great things for kids around the area and very happy to be out here and be a part of this golf tournament once again. Is our good friend Ernie Kuiper going to be here today? I believe Ernie will be here. Yes. Very nice to catch up with Ernie. Good good people. Okay so Saturday night the Tigers took care of business as expected. They beat UT Martin who was expected to win the OVC. They're a very good FCS team. Memphis got out to a great start. Played a brilliant first half and then in the second half Coach Hoth did what he said he would do to when he told us Friday night in our broadcast meeting. He said he's going to get a lot of guys in and he got a lot of guys in. I'm talking about second teamers, third teamers, even fourth teamers. Give the Skyhawks credit. They scored a couple of touchdowns late to make it interesting not where the game was ever endowed but the Tigers ended up winning that one by 24. Could have won by 50 in

5:09this game. 45 to 24. I think that 45 to 21. They improved to 3 and 1 and now they enter the by week. I thought that game came at a perfect time because they were coming off the loss to Boise. You want to get back on the horse so to speak. They did. They win. Now they can fix things, tweak things. Guys can rest up and they get ready for conference playing. They kind of ease in the conference play to be honest with you. Not that any game is guaranteed but you open up against a Charlotte team that's really struggling on the road. Then you got UAB at home and it gets a lot tougher from there. But I think first and foremost is what was the experience like for the fans and from everything I've heard, everything I read. I've called into a story about this. It seems like the administration for the University of Memphis who took everything to heart from that home opener against Arkansas State. They went out. They alleviated the problems. They fixed things. They added things. I know it wasn't a 45,000 sellout. There was 30,000 announced. There was probably 20 something thousand there. But

6:10those fans that were there had a great experience and I didn't hear really anything negative. Any issues. So a great job hats off to the administration for really dealing with everything being very transparent and fixing things for this second game, the second home game of the season. Yeah, it's again, they understood there were the issues. Met them head on and I'm sure it wasn't perfect but it seems like a lot of the issues were alleviated. Dr. Scott was out there even helping people get into different lines and stuff to try and speed the process up as far as people getting inside the stadium. All of that stuff. So it sounds like everything was a success as far as that is concerned. So that's good and I hope people enjoyed a enjoyed game number two in the new Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. To your point about Dr. Scott being out there, there were also student athletes out there. Basketball players, both men's and women's teams, other athletes that were out there that were helping fans if they had any issues. Now there's that number they can call to help to get any help they need. But the

7:13players were there, the student athletes to assist them. So there was a lot of precaution taking taking place over at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to make sure again that the folks had a great experience and they will continue to learn from the past game and put it forward in the next game and on and on and on and on until they feel like they've perfected it. But yes, any issues they will take care of those and they will do so with a smile on their face and not begrudgingly they want to get it right. They want to make sure you have a great experience and I would imagine that moving forward, especially getting the conference play, the Tigers, crowds will get bigger from that game against UT Martin. It's understandable. It was another one of those just incredibly hot nights. I mean really, really hot nights. You had the fact that the LSU Ole Miss game, which we'll get to in a second, certainly peaked the interest of a lot of people around here. You're coming off the loss against Boise. The opponent

8:15was an FCS opponent. So you get to understand that you're not going to get 45,000 like you did against Arkansas State for the first game in the revamped Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium. But they hope that they'll be able to get 40,000 for all these conference games coming up and hopefully fans will continue to support this team. It's a really good team. We saw what they're capable of doing again. I understand an inferior opponent, but Memphis totaled 572 yards of offense. They had 299 yards rushing. I thought Marcus Stokes played incredibly well at quarterback 26 of 32, 258, four touchdowns. And then they got the other quarterbacks in, Aaron Nol and two for three, 15 yards. He threw a touchdown. He threw a pick in his three attempts. And then Denzel Gardner came in. He came with Coach Off from Southern Miss. He didn't throw the ball. He had four carries for 14 yards, but it really was the running game. They had a young running back name. Jordan Thompson, a freshman with six carries for 110 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, he would have two touchdowns, but the turf

9:16monster got him on a long run down Hayden, who will be with us at eight o'clock, 11 totes for 85 yards. This is yards per carry average terrific to start this season. Starter Jalen Carter, 12 carry 62 yards, Maddie Covey, just three carries and at 22 yards. So you get the idea that offensive line was opening up holes for the running backs and they were protecting for stokes. As I said, it was a good night all around good performance. And then you had a chance to see a lot of the young guys get in and they did some good things and made some mistakes, but they'll learn from that. So in all around real good game on Saturday, a much needed game, I think, after the loss to boys eat to play as opposed to kind of stew about the loss and have a by week last week. I think it's perfect. And now they can relax. As I said, get ready for conference play from here on out. Yeah, they took care of business. I mean, again, it's, it's essentially a second to your two straight byweats in a lot of ways, but they went out to count some of the anger. That's a lot of success offensively, which you should

10:19be able to do against UT Martin. And now, again, they got the by week and then you got, you know, two games you certainly should win to start the conference play. So they should be in good shape coming, you know, once they hit that really tough stretch of the schedule, now you can't stumble, get Charlotte or UAB. We certainly know what happened with UAB last year. So you can't let that happen again, but they should be in a good spot where they get into the tougher portion of the conference schedule. So in the American conference over the weekend, after now, three weeks plus week zero, that's why the Tigers have played four games. There are only two teams that remain undefeated. I'm not talking about conference play, but I'm talking about overall, both three and O, that is South Florida, who had that two weekends ago, not this past weekend, the weekend prior, had that kind of last minute touchdown pass to beat army, but they are three and O. And Tulsa is also three and O. Memphis will play South Florida. They will not play Tulsa during the regular season. For South Florida, they were able to knock

11:25off Delaware State, not Delta State, but Delaware State, easily 59-17 against this FCS opponent, 59-17 win for South Florida. And Tulsa also played a smaller division team beating East Texas A&M, excuse me, 42 to nothing. So easy wins for South Florida and Tulsa. They are three and O. Elsewhere in the American conference, Kansas State beat Tulane 31-20. The Green Wave who will host the Tigers this season, fall to one and two, but they have played two power conference teams. They played Duke of the ACC and now played Kansas State of the big 12, lost both those games, but certainly nothing to be ashamed about. They weren't blown out either way. They were very competitive in those games and will be a competitive team, a team to look out for in the American, even with the coaching change with Will Hall taking over. North Texas, who blew out UNLB last week and Eli loses by two touchdowns in a high scoring fair at Texas State, 49-35.

12:28And then you had a wild one between Toledo and Temple with Toledo winning 49-48 in overtime. Tough loss for the Al's, but I think they're a decent team. It was UTSA going up against Texas. Texas coming off the big win over Ohio State. Didn't watch any of that game, but Texas won 30-6. I don't know if they called the dogs off. I don't know if you watched any of that game, but if not, that's fairly competitive, not offensively, but defensively for UTSA. Tony, give up 30 to Texas. Yeah, I mean, I would imagine that Texas wasn't coming off the win and with the Tennessee game coming up this week. I'm not sure they were. I didn't really watch any of the game, but I'm going to guess the Texas wasn't going to be going crazy to try and show too much for the pretty vanilla attack for them. East Carolina got a win at Old Dominion 2017. Florida Atlantic over Florida International 16-10. Of course, Florida Atlantic has that nice win over Navy and conference play. Western Michigan, who has the game this week against Boise, very important in the group of

13:30six. They go to Houston and beat Rice 28-21. Also was UAB falling at Louisiana 21-14 and Appalachian State got by Charlotte. The next Tigers opponent 26-21. Army and Navy both buys same week and early buys for them. So not a lot of conference plays so far. South Florida and Florida Atlantic both 1-0. Army and Navy surprisingly both 0 and 1 in conference play. And again, coming up this week, the Tigers will have the buy week as far as any games that really stand out for this week in the American Conference. Army will play at Temple Navy at UAB and just looking down the list here. Southern Miss at Tulane could be interesting. That's Charles Hoff's former team against Tulane and Tulane's coach Will Hall as I mentioned, who coached Southern Miss before Charles Hoff. You have Arkansas and Tulsa.

14:31That's the one that could be really interesting. Arkansas took it on the chin again. The Georgia will get to our SEC games in a second. But Tulsa 3-0 will try to pull off the big upset and that could be a real danger zone there for Ryan so we're feeling that they don't knock off Tulsa. Tulsa again 3-0. And then that's pretty much it for next week in the American Conference. But all eyes were certainly on Oxford and the LSU Ole Miss battle of two top 10 ranked teams. And it did not disappoint. With Ole Miss jumping out to the big lead. I'm at the Tigers game Eli so I'm trying to keep up with it. All of a sudden here comes LSU storming back and I'm thinking, oh gosh, I think I had all the momentum. I picked Ole Miss. I want Ole Miss to win. And LSU looks like maybe they'll take over and then the great try by Trinidad Chamblez. Chamblez leading that drive at the end of the game to put it away for Ole Miss. They get the great win. The fans and a frenzy

15:31Lane Kiffin interesting things to say after the game but he was very complimentary of Pete Golding and the Rebels and the victory saying basically and I'm paraphrasing that look we don't like losing but I have a lot of friends over there and a lot of players that I recruited and I kind of you know I feel good for them and their excitement. Saying something like that which I thought was taking the high road. He also said that the atmosphere that they had basically was it took me to have to return to bring about that atmosphere. I'm sure Ole Miss fans didn't like that. But overall it was Trinidad Chamblez arguably the best player in the nation leading the Rebels to a great victory and now they move up to number four in the nation in the AP Top 25 this week. Yeah Trinidad Chamblez is I mean he is that guy man it is he certainly does not shy away from big moments. He made some throws in that game man that you just

16:32just and there's some eye popping throws of things on the move and everything else and just the arm strength. He was absolutely incredible. I mean it just that it just simply came down to they had the best player and that that was that's what was going to win the game because even again Kiwain Lacey goes out of the game with the injury like he did at the Lulville and it didn't matter they just they just had the best player and he he's put himself with a performance like that on that type of stage put himself in a great position as far as high as been trophy stuff all of that you know I their defense early I was especially early when they went out to the 17 nothing lead I couldn't believe what their defense was doing you know they ended up with eight tackles for loss like this with the defense that was the reason I thought LSU would win I just thought their defense was that much better than Ole Miss but Ole Miss defense early was all over the place will echoes was absolutely fantastic it was just an

17:33absolutely fantastic performance and it just a good Chamblest though man he just that dude just makes play after play after play motivation is something special it doesn't always turn out to be a victory but a lot of times it does they ride the wave of the momentum and then they had the motivation to beat Lane Kiffin and they showed it on the field LSU again made the comeback I mentioned the Chamblest drive to put it away it really didn't put it away because LSU drove right back down the field at the end and then the Sam Levit pick to wrap it up for Ole Miss Lane Kiffin now 13 and 26 versus top 25 teams 13 and 26 and I believe Pete Golding what is the stat on gold his first six games coached against is it top 10 opponents he has four wins I don't know if I mean obviously played a lot it gets the playoff you're playing a lot of good opponents I don't know if it's all top 10 or what exactly but he's he's got a good record to start gets

18:33because he's played a lot of top competition so far and he is he's obviously only lost the one game. Trinidad Chamblest 33 of 48 363 yards two touchdowns of pick and he had the rushing touchdown I saw a list and I don't know who put the list out of where the Heisman stood it so early but where the Heisman stood and they had Trinidad Chamblest ranked two and Darian Mensa ranked one now look Darian Mensa has been unbelievable I mean hardly even throws an incompletion but that win right there to me over LSU that vault Trinidad Chamblest to the top right now I think Jeremiah Smith is right there for Ohio State certainly Mensa is there right now I know there's a lot of people that are supporting Camarillo Taylor I think Camarillo Taylor is terrific and I had Mrs. Zippie State winning its South Carolina they have been a big surprise so far he's certainly on that list but right now I think Chamblest is at the top of the list. Yeah good when you just

19:36do it on that stage right that's right it was everybody watching and he he was the difference in the game against a defense that is very good. They only had 63 yards rushing they LSU has not given up anything running the football really this year so the taking away the running game again Kiwan Lacey goes out of the game with the injury and so it is all Trinidad Chamblest at that point and it gets that defense he's still able to go win the game and you know Darian Mensa will have his opportunity when they play Notre Dame later in the year he'll have a massive stage at that point to try and do it I mean what he is doing is I was joking the other day on Friday about whether he'll throw it in completions and he damn near didn't almost enjoy it right this guy literally just does not throw in completions but you know he'll have his they don't they're not going to play nearly the schedule that Ole Miss will Trinidad Chamblest is going to get a lot of other opportunities it's opportunities it gets good teams but it's also the problem you're playing really good teams and really good defense is constantly that could cause you to have a bad game but I just he

20:39is it again the story probably doesn't get enough attention of what we're talking about here with a guy who came from division two it is doing what he's doing last year and now into this year it it I mean that that a performance just get every time they seemingly need him to make a play he makes that play it he's he's just that good he is that good but they're still going to need Kiwan Lacey and Kiwan Lacey did have the MRI after the game on his shoulder what was reported that the injury is not expected to be long term but they're not sure about his status for this weekend and they're walking into a hornet's nest they're going to the swamp and Florida after beating Auburn in that high scoring affair John Summaraugh's team off to a great start Florida has been stalled as an early three point favorite I think Lacey if they don't have him makes things a lot tougher puts again more pressure if you want to call it pressure I think the excitement of it all is ignites Trinidad Chamblest but he's

21:42going to have to put on the Superman Kate once again but I think Florida is an improved team and Ole Miss now they can't afford to let down they got to keep doing this each and every week but we'll get to the top 25 the new AP top 25 a little bit later on and Ole Miss again as bolted up to number four in the nation after that victory but again Lacey may not be able to go we'll find out more as the week progresses but Sam Levy was able to go he was fine didn't look hurt at all he was he was able to recover and and give it a go and he was okay you know he's fine but he he's just again like it if you just look at the matchups a quote like the quarterback matchup was a massive advantage for Ole Miss and I'm sure Lane Giffin it made Lane Giffin think why I just wish I could have been able to convince him to come to LSU with me because that's I'm sure the one thing that he was thinking like boy if I could only have chambles on my side again for this game so I got home from the Tigers game

22:43after the post game to be able to see that final drive the LSU interception then I watched some of the post game and then it went right to was it on Channel 24 one of my old TV stations I think it was 24 right yeah it was on ABC and the guy the reporter was out there and I've done this I've done this before I did it in Oxford one time at Ole Miss outside the stadium I've done it on Bourbon it's crazy when when the fans are coming out and you're going live it can be really daunting I thought the reporter did a great job he made short like as soon as these two guys came next to him he kind of went off of what he was going to talk about and brought them in which I thought was fantastic and then he cautioned them please he said don't cost no costing tell us how you feel and you know that ignites things because they're not going to listen but they were listening and then this other guy comes in at the last second and older guy you thought okay he's going to be a little bit more for he comes and he starts dropping I forget it was an S bomber and F bomb whatever he did but I thought the reporter did a great job but I haven't heard of a lot of incidents now I saw a couple of the LSU

23:48guys get taken out of the stadium by the state police I read this morning where there was an 18 year old who was charged with aggravated a assault against an officer after an incident that happened in Oxford I'm not so sure there was a lot of things which is great news but then again maybe I just weren't I'm not privy to that information I haven't seen reports but hopefully people for the most part as crazy as that was as wild as that was as much hatred they had for Lane Kiffin and I will use that word that it seemed like it was most people on their best behavior yeah it seems that from what all the accounts everything else is it was good I mean it was not a not a lot of issues not a lot of problems I mean there was a ton of people there that weren't going to the game or everything else but it seems like everything was you know very calm I guess for what it could have been and what maybe what maybe many thought it

27:52for that team is trying to what you're talking about trying to be truly elite it with a national championship but their defense to give up 31 to Kentucky that is that's surprising I mean that's actually defense Mike over I mean he obviously is a great defensive coach and I did not expect Kentucky to be able to put up 31 points on them the third quarter obviously the big swing of that game when they put up 21 in that quarter alone really huge win for Will Stein just to kind of set the tone for his is 10 year there but I do I think he is going to be I think he's going to be a heck of a coach and I don't know how long Kentucky is going to be able to hold on to him Alabama once again falls behind and then rallies to win by two touchdowns this time over Florida state. Bamble was down 15 points in this one kill and Russell throws for 3-23 touchdowns has a rushing touchdown as well and of course probably the bigger story it would have been huge of Alabama loss but the bigger story is another loss from Mike

28:55Norah Valin Florida state. Yeah they got off to the good start 21-6 Alabama's got to do something about these slow starts they're continuing to get off to but look like maybe maybe that the Florida state had you know a second straight win over Alabama in them but they just defensively just couldn't get stops at all and Russell certainly is very good I just don't I still don't believe in Ashton Daniels a whole lot he throws three perceptions I just yeah that Florida state team is just not good enough to save his job Tennessee with a walk in the park over Kennesall state as you would imagine 42 to 9 phase on brand in the freshman 178 yards passing and a touchdown he ran for another but certainly concerns as they now go into the game against number one Texas this weekend the running game with the Sean Bishop being banged up a bit in the second quarter not sure what his status is Javan Gordon Justin Baker they were unavailable with injuries so the

30:00running game is a question certainly for the balls this weekend as they try to pull an upset against Texas. Yeah it's going to be I mean that atmosphere they're obviously game day going there you got the two UT you got two shades of orange you got a manning playing in nextville for the opponent I would imagine that's going to be quite an atmosphere in Knoxville coming up on Saturday. Oh I think it's going to be fantastic do you think they have it right now on Monday we won't make our pixel Thursday but I have a chance to win this game. Yeah I think they do I do too at home absolutely I don't I certainly I mean Texas is very good I don't I'm you know Texas is a very good team and they're talented as well but I think Tennessee certainly at home has a chance to beat them if Tennessee can run the ball they got a chance because if they can't it puts a lot more pressure on Brandon and manning although he's now a veteran I think will show some nerves early in that atmosphere so I think it could be a really interesting game in

31:02Knoxville this weekend elsewhere in the SEC over this past weekend Missouri beat Troy 27 to 17 a little bit of trouble with the Trojans but Missouri gets the dub they now will travel to Mississippi state this week and right now let's see Mississippi state six point favorite over the Missouri Tigers in a battle of two undefeated teams by the way 35 unbeaten teams remain after week three of the 138 FPS teams elsewhere in the SEC Oklahoma now they didn't lose so that's why I don't put it up there with the surprise of the Texas A&M result but 14 six over New Mexico now I know the Lobos actually are a decent team but they go in Norman and they hold Oklahoma to 14 John Matier two more picks Oklahoma's got an offensive problem yeah that certainly that goes that that may be the
