with Regan Eli here once again, our Greg Gaston and Eli Savoy. We're going to have a new hot summer Tuesday fall. Officially enters the picture tonight, 705 Central Time and the weather, cooperating a bit, still warm, still hot, but not as hot and tomorrow, and Thursday's going to be even nicer, so maybe get on out there and get on the show. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're going to have a new day. We're just going to get on out there and hit the lengths. Play a little bit of golf. We've got the big auto band clubhouse groundbreaking ceremony. That'll be coming up in less than an hour, coming up in about 25 minutes here on our program. Dr. David Jones will join us. Cardiologist from the Methodist Labanner and we're going to talk off with Coach Blake Smart set is set to 1075 FM. We are broadcasting live and local from the family
leisure studios family leisure. That's where family and fun come together. They got the world's biggest spa sale going on right now at 2120 Witten Road just north of I 40 Greg Gaston Eli Savoy J. Ham with you on this Tuesday September 22nd 2026 right now 76 degrees and it'll get up to about 90 today mostly sunny but a little bit of clouds rolling in the Georgia it was Florida State was the other series they had a home and home that they canceled it I think they're and now they're gonna play one neutral site game instead of a home and home that was the other series that Georgia canceled recently so they'll still play Florida State yeah they're gonna play for say in a one neutral site game and I think it's 20 28 that they're playing that game so that year we'll give them 11 power conference opponents yes and I do it apparently on this story it was four games another story said it was only two games between Georgia and Clemson I don't know either two or four of the game they canceled one story says two wants this once as four yeah I just saw 29 through 32 and I did the
math and I came up with the four games he is the head coach of the University of Memphis men's golf team we've had him on before and we we enjoyed having him all we wanted to get him back on again he is Blake smart he joins us now on mornings with Greg and Eli coach how are you today I'm doing well welcoming a little bit of heat for three this morning so yeah little little less grumpy than I have been last year there you go it's stuff I know I just I I'm too old I had to put the sticks away for literally a month it was just too hot but yesterday we played an event over at your home course for your team colonial country club and it was it was fabulous that how does that course when you're playing competition on that course stack up to other courses that you play throughout the year yeah I think it's it's one of the harder venues that we're gonna play and you know we see it day in day out that takes maybe a little bit of the teeth out of it because we know certain lines and we've certainly hit it in
every every corner of that property it's gotten a little less scary just out of how often we see it but from a preparation standpoint I mean it's you know it's the hilly its place in Shelby County so we get some some nice adaptation there with some different lies and then you know just from a layout standpoint it it test your game the whole way around so really fortunate it was having that is probably our main venue and then of course the other courses are kind of different we have four and they're all kind of different so between the four we get great prep but colonial certainly a huge piece of this program and what they do for us and but yeah as a venue we couldn't ask for much more from a press standpoint okay so you said four venues see I didn't know this I thought that always your home matches would be at colonial because I was going to ask you have you ever thought about mixing it up in different courses so we just talked about the new clubhouse it's going up at Audemann which is a revamped renovated courses you know which is a real nice test what other courses do you play events
at here in Memphis yeah so to clarify as far as hosting that's the colonial we do that once a year in the in the spring time so that's where we host our event a great college venue other courses that we get to take advantage of PPC really welcoming out there and you know the boys are going out there because it's on television and they feel like they get to test their games sort of against that standard with the pros set and then fortunate enough you know sort of inside the loop to be able to go out the NCC and check it all on a regular basis oh wow okay but but between the four a wide variety of golf and then of course in the wintertime having you know check it's on NCC just down the street and being very like smaller piece of property and being able to get around there in three three and half hours really helps when the day light limited so great mix getting at some more of the city treats that unbelievably and we're very fortunate you've had a couple of good finishes so far here in this fall portion
of the schedule how how have things been going for you yeah great I mean open up its Tennessee over in Knoxville and I told one of my players he sort of asked how I was feeling so far and I'd have probably been okay with you know 12 they're better there eight they're better I felt I was going to be great and then you know to go out and finish run up honestly had a great chance to win their Tennessee sort of sort of caught their the wind in their sales for the final round and then scooted past this but the great opener there and then followed up with 10th and out of last week with a fourth place finish which again I honestly thought we could have won there had been cleaned up a few things but it was our best finish on that being you a great golf course up in Tennessee and and so from a start standpoint it's probably the best start we've had since 2016 which is which is a really good spot so yeah things are looking looking great so far but you know that's only 20% of the season and we've got a long way to go so we're
making sure I think the boys are maybe looking for me to calm down a little bit and that's kind of the thing if you do then if you don't you know for struggling you're going hard but if you feel like you got an opportunity to do something great it's sort of that you just in the same mindset unfortunately because I want to you want to take advantage of the talent and the time that you got so it's it's full full go right now University of Memphis men's golf head coach Blake smart is joining us on the CISIS Law Cabin Guest Line this is our University of Memphis segment we do this each and every week talk to different coaches and administrators and players each and every Tuesday your next match will be October 5th and 6th so not this weekend the weekend after you'll be in Lexington Kentucky Blake explained everybody how it works because again like some other sports it's split you got fall off you got spring off how's it all work out yeah so fall and spring is considered championship season because that's when
all the NCAA stuff happens but the fall counts the same so fall and spring regular seasons are both identical in terms of the weight the structure of it all the same and so we usually play five times in the fall falls a lot shorter it's it's more of mid-September the first in November so you know you kind of playing five events in six weeks so it's a little a little hectic especially with freshmen and everything going on in the fall and so spring time we're trying to get in about six events regular season so a little bit longer if you usually mid-February through to the end of April for the regular season so but everything counts I do think that's you know mindset you have to make sure the players stay out of you know the first events the same as the last from a regular season standpoint even even inside the athletic department I think yet remind people sometimes that yeah for spring championship but right now we need you know whether spring coaches or you know your trainers or whatever just
kind of keeping everybody just pushing the whole time and it is hard it's more of a marathon you know coach says mon again always about this time of years they're thinking a little less but he's in the sprint if he's in the watch over so if I win it's hard as he did every day I've probably been a hospital by now but so yes it's a little different vibe but certainly a slow slow stretch the season but you know when you're when you're off to a good start it certainly is fun a lot more fun last week we are talking tennis and your roster like the tennis roster has a lot of international influence on it so talk a little bit about that recruiting and finding these guys from really every part of the world yeah well I like to say first and foremost we always start local with every glass we want guys down the street to have opportunities and and we've made those offers and you know obviously if you look at our roster all those things haven't really worked out with Tennessee has struggled in my
time here which is well over a decade now which it kind of hurts to say but the the best of talent is just not very good here for whatever reason for the last 15 years so we certainly have to reach out some to fill in the gaps but I do think the city the city of types international whether it's just the simplicity of the airport you know 12 minutes from the practice facility or you know our our Elvis our culture our bar is the food the music I think all those things really do attract the international guys in a different way so you know you can beat your head against the wall for a little while but at some point you gotta go find players and and do right by everyone and so far that's been more with the international for you when you look at a golfer most of the of the guys you're gonna be looking at you're gonna have beautiful swings and hit it a mile and all that good stuff I mean some better than others but how do you gauge their their mental fortitude what it's gonna be like when there's pressure
and they got to make the 12 footer yeah you know I think that stuff especially with international because you know we're not we're not just sitting around the world to miss other watch all these guys so you have a few conversations you know things in the recruiting world are not slowing down either if you haven't figured that out so a lot of times it's a couple conversations and you're trying to the key in on certain questions and you sort of judge in their responsive versus your you know for my 20 years of experience and and listen into 16 to 17 year olds and figuring out how full of it they might be and you know it it is a fun game it's part of it but I do think you know even if they come in in different places we we have a pretty set culture here and the standards we maintain I think are pretty high and so even if you feel like a freshman is maybe not quite what you were hoping they would be they tend to fall into our culture and figure things out pretty good we're pretty rough on freshmen in terms of especially with international like it's not a lot of hand holding like
I tell them we're not gonna let you really screw up but we will let you fail and so you know if they miss an email from the birch is also a classish drop or they've got parking tickets they got to figure out I'm not I ain't doing that for them so we sort of throw them into the fire pretty quick and again if they're a good player and they're in the lineup then the best that'll go down even harder because now they've got to manage all the new stuff going on plus travel and the expectations so yeah it's kind of set up for shut up and let's get going and you're trying to figure out really quick who these guys are and what they can do for your program and and how you can help them of course is we're still here to coach and try to make these guys a better better young man who are the your top players this year? yeah so same as last year each and a long is a Chinese kid that came over three years ago now and he's he got two top four finishes against really good field kind of picking up where he left off he had a phenomenal fall last year and
struggled his level of struggle but struggled through the spring time so we're looking to put together sort of an eight month season for him and then Diego Lorenzo is coming in sort of the two slides he's got two top 15 so far he is historically struggled in the fall and then really good in the spring so luckily those two sort of flip flop every year but we're hoping to put together a nice season long campaigning for both of them and and they're good it's really really good just to be straight up they can flat out go there's an engine of this thing and then the other guys the other guys are there to be you know complimentary and do their part but as as each on a Diego goes so goes the Tigers so I wanted to ask you before we let you go about the the president's cup is coming up this weekend and I know how busy you are but I'm sure you keep an eye on what's going on with the professionals and another big international match where the United States will be heavily favored but Brandt's not a maker the coach of the team as you know for the United States team having been
in Tennessee and coach so long and Snedeker with the Sned's tour and all that and his ties to Tennessee have you ever had any kind of you have a relationship with Snedeker do you know him if you ever had any any past dealings? No you know I've certainly gone out to his events and and appreciate him and stop stalling and what they do for for junior golf and the state of Tennessee I haven't been able to meet him but hopefully hopefully he's got some some stuff out of the president's cup and neither the president's cup has been our problem he might have shipped over to the Ryder Cup and figured out but yeah I look forward to watching I will be honest I don't know much what's going on in the pro golf world at this moment but yeah it's always fun to watch the team stuff the boys love watching it too so watching cool we'll definitely try to put that on the screen while we're doing our deal. One of the the choices he made was put in Jackson Coven on this team do you look at just out of college obviously got the few pro events and and had a you know got a win and was very
good but did you think these guys come out of college like ready for that now? Man if you just meant to I mean if you went to one of our high level college events you're watching through a level golf the top half of the field I mean these would are unreal is I mean honestly the stuff I see every day from my guys we've got some guys qualifying right now and the guys winning is two rounds of colonial at eight under combined we couldn't do that ten years ago and so and this is my number three four five guys qualifying so it just tells you I mean at all levels now again I think we're really good this year I think we got chance to be the strong team but guys like Jackson you know he's a one of two of those guys seemingly every year that are on that Jordan C. Justin Thomas high trajectory and he's certainly one of them and from a team standpoint I would like to see this one the rider cup throw one of those find the youngest who you can find and get him in the mid you know it's a different energy when
they're 23 years old they're bouncing around and they're fired up and if you catch the heaters out of that you can have a stud but worst they should get in the guy in the system who maybe will be one of your guys for the next 20 years in a rider cup so I'm a big fan of throwing in some young cat because the old guys you know it can get sell even something that is powerful as a rider cup you know when you're on your six seventh one I don't know it's not gonna feel the same I mean it's just even nature so I'm all about someone in the young days and when they look like him before he made his picks we are an agreement because we have a golf segment with Mickey Barker you probably know from city of golf and Memphis and we may and we made our thoughts known and we said that you got to put some young IEla you made the specific mention that they got to put some young guys because you got to look at the future and he puts Koivin on the team he puts Bridgeman on the team and then JJ Spawn takes offense to that because he actually had a pretty decent rider cup but he went through some injuries and he goes out and he wins that big event on the DP tour
over the weekend kind of you know I'll show them so you love it the more competition the more talent there is and we certainly have our bevy of talent here in this country and all around the world it's a great sport we love what you're doing Blake over there at the University of Memphis great start to the fall season but again it all counts it all adds up into one season so we want to wish you nothing but the best you don't play this weekend but then off to Lexington Kentucky always great to catch up with you best of luck to you and thanks for being with us yeah let's do it again and go Tigers appreciate you oh appreciate you coach I'd split smart yeah they they could have a president's cup match just on the Tigers team you got two from China you got one from Peru you got Canada then you got some Americans they can they have full on rider or the office goal so they got a couple Europeans too so they could go they got president's cup rider cup they got it all covered as far as the Tigers
golf team the barbecue cup they play for some some delicious barbecue I was reading this a little bit earlier and it's a little confusing but then again the whole college sports act and everything that's going on from a political standpoint is confusing in my opinion this is a story from Burgess Everett who's a congressional congressional bureau chief for formerly of politico so he's a he covers the politics he says speeding up the college sports bill and that's the Protect College Sports Act may require votes on allowing athletes to unionize the Dems want a vote on replacing natural language which send to Murphy's college athlete right to organize act Murphy also has an amendment that would apply transfer portal rules to coaches so I don't know what that would do I know there are a lot of people that do not want unionization of these athletes but just another thing that's out there as they continue to
the jostle with whether or not this act this act will become a bill that they vote upon well and then become law it's still right now moving along but a long way to go but that's just the latest information that came out again to me it's it's a little confusing but as far as when I see unionized I think that and a lot of people that's kind of a no no that they don't want to see that happen well from golf and football to basketball and of course basketball is a 12 12-month-year sport you're always playing basketball in the winter you're playing indoors in the summer well when it gets hot you're playing indoors as well but it's an outdoor sport in the spring and in the fall and you want to become a better basketball player you want to make that high school team maybe make that college team as well and those that are really at a high level they want to hone their skills for professional basketball whether here in this country or around the world you could do so at shoot 360 Memphis a revolutionary
basketball training facility there are other shoot 360 facilities in the country but nothing tops what they have to offer at shoot 360 they have the cutting edge technology you're gonna have a lot of fun with the gamification especially the shooting drill or the passing drills that you learned this is great for youngsters because you're out there and you're being active and you're hitting targets and you're doing chess passes and bounce passes with the tutelage going on from these great coaches and you're being active you're not in your room with a video game and or a controller you're out there actually actively playing a sport and those who are advanced at the sport these shooting bays with the shoot 360 technology you're getting analytical information every time you put up a shot arc and depth and left and right and everything you can hone in on what you're doing wrong make it better improve and then make that basketball team that high school team that college team and you can do so on a monthly membership basis at shoot 360 Memphis you could join for a month try it
out maybe a leave after a month and then you come back a couple of months later or you can sign up for six months or a year whatever you want to do that's your choice at shoot 360 Memphis they're in cordova that's the 50,000 square foot facility on big orange road stop by or call them at 9017793176 set up a tour get yourself a free evaluation see where you stand the future of basketball training is here at shoot 360 Memphis we got a long way to go and when we come back we got a special guest that'll join us Dr. David Jones we got a big event coming up on Thursday a men's health event that will coincide with Thursday night NFL football will give you all the details in just a moment you're tuned in the mornings with Greg and Eli on sports 56 on 1075 sports 56 is now in FM stereo find us and change that preset to 1075 FM now back to mornings with Greg and Eli here once again our Greg Gaston and Eli Savoy
let's see this gets shout it's a bad I'm gonna get it on your hands please welcome back everybody 931 the time less than a half hour to go but we got a very important segment coming up I've been teasing this for the last couple of days and we've talked about it a little bit earlier I want to give you the particulars before we bring on Dr. David Jones Methodist LeBonner healthcare is hosting a free men's health event it's coming up this Thursday where men can come and watch Thursday night football the Falcons and the Packers are playing Thursday night enjoy tailgate style food and get free health screenings which is so important participate in breakout sessions that will be led by doctors covering urinary sexual brain mental and cardiovascular health again it's this Thursday night from 5 to 9 at the Junior League of Memphis 3475 Central Avenue this is very important for all of us as we look at
our health especially as we get older and we are very pleased to be joined by cardiologist Dr. David Jones from Methodist LeBonner who joins us now on mornings with Greg and Eli Dr. Jones thank you for joining us of course good morning how you all well we're doing great this is I mean we don't usually stray away from sports but when it's something that's involved with sports that this event is and is so important to all of us men this is something that we thought extremely important to have somebody an expert like yourself come on the show and as I mentioned you know to to be able to talk to experts the preventative health which some people just avoid is so pivotal is it not yeah absolutely right I mean there's a lot of reasons why we might avoid things like this I mean some people just feel like they they feel too good don't really need any health they claim they don't have time I'm guilty of that myself some people just don't really trust the medical system so but yeah this is a great way just to
kind of be in a more informal setting and kind of break the ice and get some conversation started about men's health you know what what made you kind of decide to to for you guys have put a event like this together get around Thursday night football and everything else and what guys will be able to get out of it event like this well like we said it kind of breaks down some of those barriers that that we come up against as far as men especially not really wanting to kind of seek out medical attention medical help but again this is just really an informal thing it will be kind of in the setting of a football game so things that we already like to do good food so just a way to start the conversation obviously not like full physical examiner anything like that but again just a way to start the conversation get some information out kind of help establish the need to maintain and and get some preventative care and
and establish them follow up as needed they're all important all these things that I mentioned from urinary sexual brain mental cardiovascular health but right now I guess as as we get older men let's say 45 and older you know what are the biggest issues that we need to be looking at and dealing with as we get older as men yeah that's a great question so like you said prostate health is big obviously as we we get older the the risk for prostate cancer and and not even just cancer but just prostate issues in general those chances increase mental health obviously that that's something that is over the past several years it's kind of come more to the to the forefront and it's being addressed without so much stigma heart health obviously hypertension heart attack stroke those risks all increase as our age increases brain health
as far as doing things prevent stroke and help maintain cognition as we get older so all those things the chance of the client and worsening increases as we get also the earlier we were able to kind of save those off and and introduce some preventative measures the better off will be what kind of food we're gonna have here well I wish I could say it was all health food but it's not we did it last year and it was it was some pretty good stuff so we had like spiders and hot dogs and not chosen things like that so few you might find it a typical tailgate yes I figured it was gonna be all health stuff yeah that was a little scared that there's no way have to be in lettuce constantly or something I got to get out of it got some burgers and wings and things absolutely it's a tailgate we want people to come out so this will be one of the one of the things that I see people come out so some good food actually so dr. Jones you said that they had it last year's this is this year two or they've done it for a
number of years now this is year two so last year was what the kickoff so to speak so that was the first year and this is the second year doing it and we had a really a really great turnout last year and got some good feedback so hopefully it'll be another good turnout this year and and people find some benefit from it you know you were talking about the different things that me you're screening for and like I said they're all they're all pivotal they're all important but the the mental thing that's that's the one thing that always to me seems like it's the biggest mystery even if you go to your doctor you go to maybe a religious leader you go to whoever is in your life you can't always tell can you no no you you really can't which is why it's important to make sure if there's even the chance of some type of mental health mental wellness issue that that you talked to somebody who's actually an expert in that field I mean you can start the conversation with whatever physician whatever health
professional you see but if there's an actual need it's probably best to get with somebody who's who's well versed in and managing and treating any any type of mental health type condition for this event where can people get more information they needed and do they can they just show up do they need to register how does all that work well it's essentially open to the public although we would like people to register there's a I think we have some information on Facebook the Methodist LeBonner healthcare website should ask some information you go you can go to doctor you can go to www.methedist health doctor work slash men's health event or scan a code that's available as well yes there absolutely absolutely and then we got Thursday night football what would I say spying this week it's the Packers and no Falcons Packers and Falcons Atlanta right yeah so who's your team of those two neither
I know if anyone who is your team or NFL team Dr. Jones I'll pull for Jack Newville I was raised in Memphis with born in Jack Newville so I'm not from Nashville so I can't I can't move for the Titans so yeah Jack Newville's my thing there you go a Jags fan coming off a tough loss against Denver how did you uh this you've grown up and did you decide hey man I want to be a doctor and then you went to the the route of working with hearts and cardiology how did you get into this field yeah I kind of took an odd route I from high school I knew I wanted to be in the healthcare field I initially went to pharmacy school I did my pre-rex update UT Martin went there for a few years just to get pre-rex came back to UT Memphis before they called it the Health Science Center went to pharmacy school working in pharmacy for about ten years or so and without really any clear reason decided that I needed to be doing something more something different so did a little bit more undergraduate education and
applied for med school got in and knew I wanted to do something in the internal medicine field so dear resident seeing that and ended up picking cardiology as my as my specialty well congratulations and thank you for all you do but again you'll be doing a lot more along with the other health officials that will be on hand it'll be Thursday night and once again it's Methodist LeBon or healthcare presenting a men's health event Thursday night September 24th where men can come out watch Thursday night football Falcons versus Packers eat still tailgate style food Eli Savoy and get free health screenings and participate and breakout sessions that will be led by doctors covering urinary sexual brain mental and cardio vascular health once again it's five to nine it's at the junior league of Memphis right there central in Highland basically 3475 Central Avenue get out there and ask the questions because that's what doctors want to hear from you any questions you have they'll
try to give you the best answer they have they may not have all the answers but certainly will steer you in the right direction it's going to be a great event Dr. Jones thank you so much for joining us really appreciate you of course my fridge and thank you take care folks if you are moving maybe to a new home maybe it's a new office any move you've got whether it's a cross-town or across country you know doing it yourself is is difficult very stressful but if you get the professional the experts from black time moving to do it for you well that takes a lot of that stress and worry out of that process for you all you got to do is go to the website blacktimemoving.com slash Memphis or give them a call 901-316-6196 talk to the professionals from black time and they will work with you to come up with a plan for your move fitting your needs and fitting your budget as well they will give you a no obligation quote up front as well so you know exactly what it's going to cost for that move don't try and do it yourself don't ask your lazy friends get the professionals to take care of that for you the professionals from black tie moving I'm looking at a list we'll
talk about this in just a few moments college footballs dumbest losses of all time on the heels of what happened in that Vanderbilt NC State game your calls and texts we do have an open segment if you want to hit us up 901-360-8255 you're tuned into mornings with Greg and Eli on sports 56 on 1075 same voices same great sports talk just a new hall sports 56 on 1075 FM mornings with Greg and Eli here once again our Greg Gaston and Eli Savoy I'm looking for your heart I'm trying to find a job but it just been a 37th time as we close in on Volvo and friends which will be coming up from 10-11 Darian Newsom will be pinch hitting for Dave all this week so I tease this going to the last time out there's a list put together by college sports only college
footballs dumbest losses not specifically a play or a player but college footballs dumbest losses of all time they rank the NC State running out the clock turning into the bandy touchdown on the fumble number two number one and Eli you have a better memory than me I do not remember this at all but they vote number one 1999 and jhm you you may remember this you and lv returns a fumble a hundred yards on the final play because bailer refuses to take the knee you guys remember that at all no I don't either I want to have to look that up later today and figure out what that was because I am with you I don't think there's been a dumber play than what we saw on Saturday in Nashville yeah I mean and you have a decision to talk about the
the way I T I mean I'm just from I my thing is that's the dumbest play one individual player has ever made I can't argue that I mean if bailer was running plays that they fumble that's not I mean again the guy fumble but if that's terrible decision making by the coaches and all that stuff this I'm for me this is the dumbest play that a player has ever made yeah and then I saw yesterday I got to try to look this up our buddy Dan walkin friend of the show longtime friend he I'm I'm trying to find the direct quote but he basically criticized people let me see oh here it is I have found it odd how many people are blaming the quarterback and absolving Doran and so I don't usually look at comments I really do not look at comments but the first comment was from Adam Rittenberg who's been on our show friend of the show he said point blank it was the quarterbacks fall sometimes the
blame lies with the player and again from everything we heard Doran said told him to take a knee or run out of the end zone they instructing him how to run that play that was on him on the player 100% I don't know why if dance they could only told him to take a knee and that's obviously he wouldn't have been doing that if he hadn't been told to take a knee right but but Dan I don't know what the coach is supposed to do sometimes as Rittenberg said the player is the one at fault we we can sugarcoated as much we can want to give the you know blame the teacher blame the the coach blame that blame that guy blame that woman no this was this was the young man a veteran quarterback who made a critical mistake so also on this list they rank the top five and a couple of these I remember certainly a couple I don't but these again are the dumbest losses of all time it says not the dumbest play
or players they had a tie for fifth in 2019 now I remember all miss loses the egg boy after Elijah Moore P's like the bulldog what so what happened after that he scored the touchdown because I got backed up and missed the extra point miss the extra point okay of course missing the extra point is not to do with that but they but certainly backing him up has something to do with it tied with from 2020 Florida cornerback Marco Wilson throws his shoe versus LSU I think I remember that did that that's a side of game I don't remember exactly what the circumstance was and what that cost them at the time I don't remember I remember him doing it but I don't remember exactly what what the situation that it tailed yeah they lost the game but I don't know if they lost the game because of that I just don't remember the the exact result I do remember the shoe incident number four now I remember this one this was huge in 2015 Michigan's punter had trouble with the
snap on the final play of the game they ended up losing to what Michigan state right number three 2023 Mario Christobal refuses to take a knee versus Georgia tech do you remember the particulars there he didn't take a knee round the ball maybe fumbled yeah I remember that being I don't remember get exactly what the situation but I do remember him yeah that they lost a game on a situation like that where they wouldn't take the knee okay and again number two the NC state running out the clock turning into the bandy touchdown after the fumble the yeah the Florida the shoe throw was after a third down stop they were going to get the uh ball back and he took the guy shoe off and threw it and got a penalty to give them the first down that's what it was so they never get the ball back yeah um that the Michigan Michigan state one that was that's the only other
time in history that a team what it was it I think with possession of the ball and the lead um in the last 10 seconds of a game had ever lost that was the only time until the Vanderbilt ever had lost until this Vanderbilt game I think I think it's I think it's the last 10 seconds of you with possession in the last 10 seconds and the lead it's now happened twice that a team has lost I mentioned yesterday the fight in NASCAR at Bristol on Sunday with Ryan Blaney and Carson Hosevar and Ryan Blaney attacked Hosevar who's about four or five inches tall and in and Hosevar basically knocked him he knocked him to the ground first he swung and hit him in the hat and then he dropped him I mean he dropped him and so Blaney today or yesterday said listen it wasn't a hundred percent his fall it's 50 50 we both are at fall he took the high road
but he did he kind of laughed it off he said hey man he dropped me you know he knocked he knocked me down he won the fight but NASCAR yesterday this is before those comments maybe it was in accordance to the NASCAR release information release I'll get to in a second and then Blaney responded after it but NASCAR will not issue penalties I'm shocked I'm actually shocked like you can get away with a lot more with the the temperature the the tempers flaring with NASCAR with life and death I mean literally when you're driving a car you can certainly die in a car accident in a crash especially if you think somebody did it to you and you're going after that person but once a punch is connected you would think there'd be some sort of penalties but maybe because it's the playoffs right now they don't want to penalize anybody I'm surprised NASCAR did not levy any penalty to either one of the drivers especially Ryan Blaney who started it who started the fight Matt texted he said that the dumbest game I've ever seen is the Miami one against Georgia Tech Miami was trying to get
their running back 100 yards and fumbled and then that's yeah that's what it was they were trying to out they were they ran the ball set of kneeling on it fumbled and then Georgia Tech went down and scored a touchdown with one second left yeah I mean that that drives me crazy when it's a game or now I don't know how many times it's cost the team a game but as far as individual blunders you just mentioned this with the quarterback for NC State how about the receivers or running backs or whoever it is going for the touchdown and then dropping the ball before they break the plane I don't know at the top of my head how many of those incidents cost the team the game but I'm sure there's probably been one because that's happened a number of time with players doing that so that would have to be way up there those players if it costs it's a bonehead play neither you know no matter how you slice it but if it costs the team then it becomes that much more in
magnitude a big time blunder would be certainly at one of the you know at top five blunder if that happened and it costs the team the game ultimately well the I mean if one of it if somebody did it like with one second left in the game oh god that would win the game that would again because generally those said you you have an opportunity to make up for it I get that's this guy this kid makes this decision the there's no there is no making up for it because the game is over at that point in time right you don't there was never a chance to oh yeah okay we got a blunder now we but we still got plenty of time to make up for it and whatever he did this the game that's why this is I mean he literally they had no no chance to then make up for his mistake absolutely once again if you missed the news didn't watch my Monday night football Rams beat the Giants 28 to 6 but Jackson Dart went out early in that game with an injury the news however seems to be
not as bad as first thought may not be as serious an injury but it is a sprain of his MCL according to reports which should keep him out for two three four games minimum but it is not a season ending injury which is certainly great news for John Horbore Harball and specifically for Jackson Dart who went out last night Malik neighbors went out and then came back in with the injured shoulder but last night it was all about Matthew Stafford Devonte Adams and the Rams bouncing back from that debacle in Australia winning 28 to 6 over the Giants as both teams are now one and one again tonight 645 the Redbirds and the Rochester Redwings game one of the International League championship series it's a best of three it'll be all three if it goes three at AutoZone Park in downtown Memphis that is going to do it for us today want to thank Connor O'Gara Landon Speck Blake Smart and Dr. David Jones for joining us on the program tomorrow we're talking Grizzlies with
