That's good. It shows you how long it's been since I wore this shirt. Alright, cool. That's me here. I'll let you be the May or March. Yeah, I'll hit that man. The March primary. No, it's not the one who either. It was the Maytown election. Maytown election. So it was in May, the last time you wore your probably washed it. And why you wear it? What was it? What you've got sleeves on it made? I don't know. I think it was May. It could've folded on the rack. But everybody got voted for one. That's all that's important. Alright, let's get my bag. And we're off to it. Rock and start here. I'm a fabulous football Friday. I'm going to leave that. I missed my duty. Me too. Wait a minute. Who votes on Friday? It was the Asimtty Ballad.
I don't know where it is. Or the ballots that were supposed to be registered in Tert County. And they put them back in a warehouse to the side. Okay. That would be good. Not your party. Not your party. Wow. Alright, we got a football game coming up on Sunday at Hanoon. Yes, we do. Houston. I know. Yep. Are y'all must win in this? This is must win. This is a must win game. Definitely must win for Houston. And I would say because they're winless. It'd be a very helpful win. And Cowboys would not put in the must win, but it's a better win. It's not the same. You need to win. You need to win. Yeah. Especially when the Eagles gave you the bonus that you got. Well, we'll find out if they keep that bonus on Sunday, right? Yeah. They got the Rams in February. They hecked my hostage yesterday. Yeah. I was doing coaching duty, coach show duties, and ever son was out on a golf course. Man. And how in the world did you play golf?
He didn't. He didn't. You were with Mike Sanctuary. They sat inside and told stories. No, I left. No reason to stay. It was canceled. You had to. I mean, it rained all day yesterday morning. It rained leading up to the golf tournament. No one was out there. It was just. But you missed. You missed the big news though. What's that? We got to hear from you. Yeah. I mean, there's a cornerback. There's a cornerback. Oh, man. That's why we're starting with you, ever son. Ever son at the end of the show. Let me say at the end of the show, he was just. You saw my text. The rest of my dream. You saw the group text on. At 12 o'clock midnight. Thanks guys. Well, Heckman was asleep. We woke up. Heckman with the news. And I said that you knew cornerback in the building and by. At his current pace by age 80, he will match every single wall. Fifty seven. Obviously, they know signed the B's for the section these days.
They just want them to be targets. But we did we did count up your interceptions for your first three. Because because Joey Porter has been in the league for three years. Okay. Okay. And he's got three interceptions. And ever ever since ever since first three years in the league. He just blotted up like that. Ever since the first three years in the league. He said it. First three years we. First three games. What? Yeah. Yeah. First three quarters. Three interceptions. Come on, man. But first three years. Yes, that's how many. You know how many interceptions you had the first three years of your career. He knows. He knows. Let's test him here. What's your what's your magic number? Twenty one. Twenty four. I can't believe it. That was a lot. I was twenty four. Yeah. Can't play off. Yes. Oh, see, you can't play off. I would count playoffs. Okay, my man. Playoffs don't count when the total.
Well, that's how it would have been. Playoffs are more important than regular season. They don't count. We're not baseball. I think basketball does. We're count. We're count. Play 24. You had two in the playoffs. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, 22 in the regular season. So 24. 11, 7 and 4. Yeah, you're going too far, man. You just back it up, man. All right. Just back it up to just half a season. Okay. Just go first half of the season. So your thoughts, Joey Porter, Jr. I really don't know much about them. Okay. I'm absolutely. He is one of those cornerbacks that play in these days. Turnovers are not what they're gaged by. They're gaged by being in the proper, proper place of the proper time. They're gaged at eliminating the threat that the opposing wide receivers pose to you. That's what these cornerbacks do these days. It's not gaged by turnovers. It's gaged by how much success you have as a defender against the office. So these modern day cornerbacks, they got no chance of being in the Hall of Fame.
No, they have no chance of getting in the sections. That's what I mean. I know you have some good say. You've got guys in the Hall of Fame. Well, I was mentioned Eric Allen, but Eric Allen knew how to get in the sections. But it's not necessarily the amount of in the sections that he made. It was how effective he was as a defender. How about this stat on Joey Porter, Jr. We've brought it up yesterday. It's been since his rookie season in 2023. More than 1,000 past coverage snaps that he has given up a touchdown in coverage. Yeah, there you go. That's effectiveness. And then Christian. That's effectiveness. Parker was asked about only three interceptions. And he said, most important thing is not to let your guy that's targeted, catch the football. Then the next step is catching it yourself. But if you can stop that guy, if they target you and you turn them back, whether it's interceptions, whether it's knock downs, or whether it's just good coverage, that's what I'm saying.
That's what they're being judged by for the most part. When you look at the DBs, especially starting in the year 2000, you don't see many guys going out there being ball hawks, not cornerbacks anyway. It's just not the way they play. I don't know that's not the way they teach them these days. They've been doing that for quite some time. The Cowboys had a culture of getting interceptions here. But we never followed up on that culture. Digs was the only one to really do that. If you had a player, I can't remember his name. He was from Ohio State. And I think he had gotten like four or five six in the exceptions. It was maybe eight games into the season. He's from Ohio State and he got a couple of picks. And so he's feeling good in the locker room. And they asked him, he asked, he said, so what's the record for interceptions? Because he didn't know. I think he had like four or five or six. And they said he left and he was like, oh damn. So that's just not what they do these days as far as ball hawking is concerned. That is not a criteria for DBs these days.
Last one around here would have been Blan. That's it. Thank you. Thank you. Returns. Thank you. Touchdowns. Well just interception spirit. Blan's interception numbers without the touchdowns is really good. I mean, that is a lot compared to what DBs are doing these days in regards to turnover. I want to ask you specifically about his use in Christian Parkers defense. We talked about it yesterday. We're in here. So I got to get your opinion on this because obviously this defense for this first three games have played 70% zone. Right. And you get a guy that is a man cover corner. What is the package that you believe that Christian Parkers going to use him in? Because you're not going to change who he is. You're so you're going to leave him. You're going to have the confidence to leave him isolated. That will not bother you. That will not make you nervous as a defensive coordinator on sideline. So you know that if you're counting on this player to be your elimination guy, then we're going to leave him alone. And this will help us show up the other side.
Well, boundary eraser is what he is. To call them an eraser. That's what Christian Parkers called him a boundary eraser. That's so we're looking forward to it and immediate change in the second area. That's the thing about DB's guys corner backs. That's why I'm so confusing to me sometimes how we get confused in our second area. When you're corner back, it's not that complicated. The flex made things unusually complicated. So I know that we did good work. But nowadays if you just play your zone correctly. And if you can, I wouldn't say like Dion eliminate that side of the field, no. But you can't like I said, eliminate that boundary. He put it this way, by the way. He said when you have a guy that can erase things one on one, the backside on the backside, then you can do different things to manipulate coverage. You can add a plus one to the other side of the other side.
The other side. Or you can add a plus run to the run defense. Yes. I would see as far as run defense. Well, not a lot of joy Porter senior. I knew I knew that. I mean, I just I couldn't. Yeah. He's six to one ninety three. Oh, that's good. Good size. But that's pretty good range. But he explained that in their zone defenses, eventually the corner backs and end up in man coverage. So it's zone to start. Flex defense man underneath. That's the flex defense. Right. So that's the way he's depending on the running back. It's a change depending on the play action. Right. You end up. I got I have a three deep here. I got a safety in the middle. If they go flow strong play action, I got a slide to the inside. I have zero health. Right. So that is almost the same thing. I keep bringing up the flex because the adjustment you make in the secondary is very unusual. And you have to have smart DBs that won't panic when they see that their responsibility has changed.
So do you think what do you guys think? Can you be ready to go? That was my next question. Is he up? Well, that's that we go. That's talking. We get that voice as a hockey. The other interesting thing. Report yesterday in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. The final straw for the Steelers and their relationship with cornerback Joey Porter Jr. came when Porter. After two days of fully participating in practice, claim that he had back pain on Wednesday. Of course it was. Back was the game before. Back in last night. As soon as the train would do like which five or one was yeah. Day before their game last night. Did you happen to see the game last night? I did. I did. And the brown. Yes. Lost to the Cleveland Browns. I happen to listen to Pittsburgh sports talk radio this morning. I'm very happy. There's a lot of Joey Porter Jr. talk. They could have helped him last night. Is that right?
There are a far away. So anyway. Love it. But take us to yesterday and his interview with the media here in Dallas yesterday. Is that he's ready to go? And when he was asked about his back which took him out of practice on Wednesday in Pittsburgh. He kind of laughed. What's he did? That's that that MP joint. Uh, which is better. Which is better. Which is better. Which is true. If this report is true in the final straw. Even though Stephen Jones and others have said the Cowboys have been in talks with the Steelers for a while now. Well now if that was the final straw. That's why talks intensified on Wednesday night. And a well I think it's a very good deal for help. They have occurred by 11 o'clock. They held a matter of practice on Wednesday because they knew this trade was about to go down. Well he came out of practice on Wednesday.
That's the that the report is that the final straw for the Steelers is because he left practice. He had fully protected. They were expecting him to play on Thursday night. Yeah. Guess what Wednesday's practice is. Exactly. And guess what Monday and Tuesday's practice was. Tell us me. They didn't walk through on a short week. Right. The guy was on pop until August 30th. And then they to keep him eligible to potentially play. They took him off pop. But he didn't practice until the first two days of this week. And you know what he said. And you know what he said. That's all that is. He said he's always want to be a cowboy. And his daddy was a cowboy's fan. And his mom is a cowboy fan. I hope they start saying that when they get drafted by the way. You know I've always been by these days. My daddy named me ever since because of ever since walls. I love it. It's getting to do my granddaddy.
That was the same thing. I'm like granddad. No. No, no. No, no. No, no. No, brother. You got to read the Teeley, right? Parker was somewhat let's see what happens in practice. How he gets back the next day. Shot and Himer said, well, what he did on Thursday. And his ability to learn, he said, there's a good chance he could play. Now today, Shot and Himer said will see after today's practice. Man, that man is a big number. Jerry said the same thing. Well, if this means anything, when I watched the, what, 15 minutes we get to watch, when they did individual drills, there was a lot of times, bland went first and he went second. And then I saw him do a drill where it was bland and Kaelin Carson and then he was next. So he's moving around, but he hasn't played football since last year.
It's like everybody who, all these veteran guys, when they play the first game of the year, they haven't played football since last year. Well, at least they went to training camp. He was at training camp, but he didn't play. He did, he was on Pup. He didn't practice. But he was on the side. So he's on the side. The one guy that I am not worried about in this situation is Joey Porter Jr. What I'm worried about is Nico Collins trending towards playing because if he does, Joey Porter Jr. needs to be the man assigned to him in that package. So if you're not worried about him pulling the hamstring, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not. There's no, what, what's the story on Savon Revel? I, it didn't look like he was going to practice today. He was working on the chords. So we're not expecting him to play on Sunday. And Kobe Durant is out, obviously, Hooker has a chance. Who else was PJ Lock is on IR? So who's your starting cornerback alongside Durant bland? Well, what did they do on Sunday?
Awesome. It was Kayling Carson. It's going to be Carson. It's going to be crazy. And then they, it's going to be ever since Guy Kayling Carson. Um, I need to get him out there on the field. They used, they used a mere speed for four place. He had four plays last week, four plays defensive. He was a special team. He's a gunner. Right. He was a special team. Uh, ready Stewart played for the first time. He got two snaps. Mm hmm. Yeah, we wonder about runners. I don't know. Yeah, I know. But that's it. That's all he had played all year. Did anyone talk to the coach about the, uh, the, the play calls, the defensive coordinator about the play calls at the end of the game? They did. He said that, um, he said, for sure, I had a different call. Definitely would have made a different call. So he said that he, you know, changed his mind, um, and that, uh, it was, it was a bad
call. Okay. Good. So what happened last night, by the way? 10, 10 seconds left in the game. Yeah. What happened? Did you watch? I did. No, I've ever seen Cleveland Steven, the one in the game that kicked a 56 yard field goal. And then the Steelers got the ball back with 10 seconds left. Uh huh. They had 10 seconds left. Cleveland had a choice to either kick it through the in zone or force a return. And what did they do? They kicked it through the in zone. So then the Steelers take over at the 35 with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback and what happened after that. And in my mind, he's going to throw a, and then a timeout left to his the same exact situation with three more seconds all time out and then throw a Hill Mary. He tried to throw the Hill Mary from the 35 and they got one playoff in the last 10 seconds. And then they're broken up at about the 20 or 30. Did they not watch the game in Brazil? They did. They said it clearly. They did. They said it on the broadcast. Oh, this looks like we saw this on Sunday. Wow. Well, somebody learned their lesson with the time.
No, I'm talking from the Steelers perspective. Oh, yeah. They not watch the game. You're at the down three right there. Down three. Yeah. Okay, they're down three. They need a field goal to tie. So what, throw it to the target line and the Browns did not play man covers outside leverage either. So I mean, this is a move like the Browns. I mean, come on guys. I understand. Like, make you point. I get it. But come on now. The point is, it was that the exact same situation. Pittsburgh did the wrong thing. I didn't say the Browns. No, no. So, oh, yeah. Let's argue. You don't throw the Hill Mary with 10 seconds left. You don't throw the Hill Mary from. You try to get more yardage either four or five. That's a hell Mary. That one time. Yeah, one time out. Yeah, same situation as Baltimore. Yeah, so do like to play off game with Green Bay. So you know who's on the hot seat right now in Pittsburgh. McCarthy. Yeah. Come on. Everyone got the hot seat.
Come on. That love affair. That love affair did not take long between he and his quarterback. That is did not take long. They're two and two. Yes. And Rogers didn't have he didn't have anything to do with the two losses. Oh, he was bad. According to him. Until the last. Yeah. According to him. Well, there was some cussing going on on the side. Yeah, I saw. I'm sure. I saw some. I'm looking at that today. Yeah, that's good stuff. All right. We got much more to get to. Mickey's finding more things on his legal pad and some keys to victory about that when we come back here. On the cowboy shift presented by Miller Lite, the only beer of the Dallas cowboys. And Mickey, what else do you know from Jerry's appearance on the radio today? From shot NIMERS press conference, anything else on your legal pad that you need us to know about? I wrote this down, Jerry. Jerry said this. They were asking them about why you would make the trade at this time. And Jerry said it's important to think big. Okay. I thought that summed it up because they were both saying it was an opportunity to bring in a very good player, sort of like they did last year with Quinnian Williams. Like I don't know that they traded for Quinnian Williams to save the day, but they saw an opportunity to get a good player. And I think that's what happened this time. Yeah, they got the injuries, but I'm not sure that it was a panic thing like, okay,
let's go do this. It was like, well, you're going to opportunity. If you're going to give me this guy for a sixth round next year, and I only got to worry about a second round. And he can't wait to get the hell out of there. Right. And they can't wait to get him out of there. And so I think that's the key to the whole thing and why it is such a good deal for Dallas for a bit. And which I think also confirms that report out of Pittsburgh that they were upset with him. And they just had to get him out of the building is when you look at the terms of the deal. I think from even from a Cowboys standpoint, they're giving up a sixth next year. And just think about this a 2028 second. If they don't sign him to a compensation contract extension, it's the compensatory pick, which is perhaps a third round pick. So you're basically in 2028. It's a you're giving up a second, but you're getting back a third round compensatory. If that's what it turns out to be. This is the third fourth, fifth round, whatever.
This account of move that we were always fussing about the Cowboys not doing. And here we are, we're doing it now. You will feel they always signs these places. Well, now we're signing plays. Now we got Quinn and got Clark. And I don't care about that. Second round pick a compensatory pick. We got a bonafide player and johnified. It joy, Porter. If it doesn't work out, if it doesn't work out, you have you cover yourself. Basically, you're just you're giving up a sixth and you're falling back in the draft, whatever the difference is between whatever his compensatory rate would be. And and like and you know, and he seems fine. He said, I'll bet on myself. So to me, it's I mentioned it yesterday. We were talking about it. It's George Pickens all over again. George come in. You play well. Okay. You're going to franchise you, but you're franchise tags. You're going to make more money and you've made in your entire NFL career. Same thing with this guy.
They can if he plays well, everybody says, well, how they going to pay him? Well, you just franchise him. Franchise tag on a quarterback, a cornerback this year was 21.3 million. You were born 40 years to it. Yeah. I put it over. I was born 30 years old. I always remember. My summer all stories come around to soon. That's that boy too soon. Yeah. And so you got to figure the franchise tag next year is going to be about 24 million, maybe guaranteed. And once again, we are doing what everyone was complaining about us not doing in previous years. So this is like Jerry said, old man with money. We got money now. We got salary cap money. We got salary cap money. And we can bring in guys who can immediately impact our team. And we're not talking about bringing in a developer, my type of player who I heard he was this three years ago. He was drafted a second round. He's been heard, never said we don't have to worry about all that.
All right. So what concerns you the most about the Houston Texans on Sunday? Well, for me, on Sunday, it's going to be strength on strength and weakness on weakness for us. Defensively, man, I've been watching the tape and I just had to cut it off. I had to cut it off. But then I found the tape that worked for me. I went to the Cincinnati game. And when you watch the Cincinnati game, you think about their receiving core and you think about our receiving core. And I would say I'm going to clearly take our receiving core. But I felt like those guys had a day versus versus the Texans mostly run or wasn't passed. Pass. I mean, Buffalo put up 36 on them too. Exactly. But I'm talking about as far as the way that that defense played, I mean, they still, you know, have this mentality with those two guys on the outside and the guys that they have interiorly on that defense. I think they smother you and they take the life out of you. But somehow Cincinnati, they were above that. But also Cincinnati has a player of Dexter Lawrence that we'll use to. Now, he's killing it. He is double team.
He's killing double team. Man, he found his tribe. And that's why a game like this. And as we talk about our defense, the weakness on their weakness for their offense, Quentin Williams. Was they able to or has anyone been able to run on them consistently? Not with not to not high volume. I'm talking about 80 yards. I think Cincinnati, they had 80 yards. They're fifth in the league and run defense right now. So I mean, he was you was talking trash last week though. I was. That's right. Come on, man. I got my boys. I got my all day long. I said, I said, strengthen on strength weakness on weakness. So again, I'm taking our wide receivers. I'm taking Dac. I'm taking Dac to go and ball out. I want to take you on your vantements. I want to vantements. You know what I want you to vantements for? How about pass cut? I want to pass protection. How about just the offence? I need him for that. How about just the offense? What? The whole offense. Oh, yeah. But I would like to win. We're going in on the first and the reason we were able to poison ourselves and go for
two answering drives was because we were able to run the ball. That's why we were able to do that. So we need to continue to run the ball. I don't want to have to depend on Dac and CDM to go in there against double coverage on both sides. No one's caring about the run. Oh, wait, because they got to run the front. No, we need to continue to pound that ball. That's the only way we're going to be a good team consistently this year. And one of the issues that the Texans have right now is that in their linebacking core, they are injury depleted at linebacker. I'm going to get Kenneth Murray still in their practice. What? He got some. I hope he is. And he may be activated. That is. Talk about a rainbow. Thank you, Bill. But there it is. I do want you to watch. Did you see Wilma Clay on his illustrator segment? We did yesterday. I saw number five J on Petry when you were a prak. Number five J. L. He's amazing out of Baylor. He is fun to watch.
And he is. He is a rover. He's Caleb Downs in their. Oh, steroids, but not oh steroids, but you know what I mean? No, he looks like Caleb Downs playing. Now he's the one with the concussion helping on. He's had problems with concussions. He's number five. Okay. Yes. Second round pick in 2022. He's still. And he plays. I don't know that he's going to have a long career just because of the way. He plays the things he puts his body through. Yeah. But Wilma Clay yesterday in our illustrator segment, which you can find it's posted. It's on from. Plug it, Bill. Plug it. But he usually he'll pick out a couple of players and show, you know, six plays. Well, he showed six plays of just number five J. L. And Petry yesterday and the variety of things run support. I mean, right up at the line of scrimmage where he. He can close on a running back right in the trenches.
Like everybody's doing their job up front and he's like a linebacker at 5, 1195 pounds coming in and putting a stop on, you know, you know, Ivante William signs running back or whatever, you know, that's what's so good about watching to go Ryan's defense. Well, these guys, when one guy leaves a hole, another one is right behind them. I mean, they are locking step together. There's nothing complicated about the system that they're running. As you've stated quite a bit, when you play with those high caliber guys on the outside and interior, it makes guys like Petry and Stigley, Julian Blankenship. It makes their job so much easier when you have that front that does what they do. So that's all. I mean, because they're, I mean, from the outside, they're flushing everybody. And in all by the way, they're pretty good in the inside as well. Sheldon Rankins is another really good defender that they have. But can we talk about their offense? Because that's what makes me happy. Yeah. They got some issues. Yeah. They're offensive. Everybody's got some definite issues up there.
Do you think the Texans are talking about the Cowboys offense? Yes. I think they're nervous. I think when they saw what they saw, yes, as good as they are. Yes. When they saw what they saw, they're like, whoa. I mean, this guy's running wild open all the time. You got your running back in there and doing crucial moments, crucial third downs in second down. Run on first down as well. We opened it up on first down that allowed us to be so successful on the outside. That's just the most comfortable, smart way to play. Keep your running game alive. I don't care. We get three yards of carry. We need to keep them honest. I don't care how it looks. We need to keep them honest. Well, keep blocking up front. Keep blocking up front, baby. Because when they looked at that tape, they had to say to themselves, that team could have scored 42 points last week against the Ravens. That's right. That's right. They screwed themselves. Right. Yes. And I love that.
Well, you know, because it goes both ways in that game. But I think when I look at the Texans because of the kind of pressure that they put on quarterbacks, they're looking at an opportunity on the outside. I mean, we'll Anderson, these two, these two dudes are so different. We've seen them before though, right? What? What? Now, I don't think we've seen the Neil Hunter and Will Anderson. I could be wrong, but I don't think we've seen these two guys before. But I mean, I know. The last time we played them, 24, 3, 24, when was it? Two years ago, 24, 24, 24 last. Last meeting October 7th. Oh, no, that was in Houston. Last regular season, meaning 2024. Well, Anderson's a third pick in the draft. We wanted to win. We wanted to win. No, they get white and Hunter's been there a couple years. Yeah. So I'm just saying, you know, our tackles have been good. What they've been doing is they have been protecting DAC and that's been the good thing about
these first three games is how they've protected DAC. You just come up against a team. They tried to protect. He got to hear a lot of the time. But he's getting, he's getting how successful he's being in press, how he's been, how successful he's been, been against blitzes. That's been his calling card. And that's why when I look at Cincinnati, who you already know Cincinnati doesn't have much of an offensive line at all, Joe Burrow was able to ball against this same defense that I'm talking about. So that's what gives you hope in this situation that DAC. Well, that's that is cool for us. We know we assume that DAC and the passing game is going to succeed. It's going to be the one that carries us to the finish line. That's what we always assume. I want to change our M.O. or at least continue it from last season. A thousand year running back helps thousand year receivers. Yes. And helps a 4,000 year quarterback. So in 2024, 34 to 10 loss. Daniel Hunter had two sacks. Yeah, but who was playing quarterback? What?
What? DAC was out. Cooper rush. But I'm just talking about. I know. Will Anderson apparently didn't play in that game. He's doesn't show up on the stage. He doesn't show up on the stage. Change your question. We have not faced. But Mr. Daniel Hunter was there. And Daniel Hunter. Mr. Daniel Hunter was there. Believe that. Well, didn't they face him with another team? Or was he out? He was. Who? Hunter. He saw him about it. Hunter and Anderson together. Yes. But still, that's a good question though. Oh, yeah. He was with the Vikings for years. Right. He faced him. Yeah. I'm sure he's got a sack or two in that one too. You know, I'm not an offence of lineman. I'm just kidding. I was offence of lineman. The line is totally different now from what they've seen in the past as well. So everyone's different. You know, we've got all kind of different replacements. Different hyalurgitis a little different now than he was two years ago. So I'm like, come on, man. This is. Anderson, our defensive line has got a feast on this offensive line for the Texans. All right.
Quinn and Seams have found his tribe. I know it's only one game. But him being in the backfield was a beautiful sight to see for him being constantly in the backfield of the opposition. And he's going to be constantly in the backfield again Sunday in Houston. Our picks to click and picks to win when we come back here on the Cowboys shift. How do you turn 16 games injury reports? Miller time, people think it just happens, but that's not true. You know what you got to do? You got to go say hello with some beers, make the plans.
Forget the couch, go to that thing, play the game, see him in person, talk to that stranger, live a little, small acts of rebellion that bring us together, because legendary moments start with a light. It's Miller time. Celebrate responsible, 2026 Miller Brewing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To the Cowboys shift. Nope. We continue with the Cowboys shift on a fabulous football Friday, getting you said for cowboys and Texans. It's brought to you by Miller Light, the only beer of the Dallas Cowboys. It's Miller time. Cowboys and Texans, Dallas leads the all time series, four games to three, but Mickey, how much does that first meeting? And they're basically, they're celebrating their 25th season of Houston, Texan football this year. And on Sunday, I think they're doing something at halftime,
commemorating their first win over the Cowboys. It was their first win. Wasn't their first game? First game. That was the first win ever. It was embarrassing. The first game ever. 19 to something. It was 19 to 10. That was close. Something. September 8, 2002. You remember it well. This Jerry Jones, remember it well. Winston Carter quarterback. What former cowboy had the interception for the Texans in that game? Former cowboy. He's now a current head coach in the National Football. Wow. That should be Aaron Glenn. Aaron Glenn. Yep. All right, time for our picks to click. Our picks to win. Everson, what are you thinking? Yeah, I don't know what I'm thinking. I'll continue what we're doing offensively on the offensive line. We will continue to pass the ball. We will be successful on the outside, but only because we were able to run the ball.
I look at your Vontay Williams as my 100-year-old back. I'm not talking about 200. I'm not talking about 175. If we just give him 110 yards, two touchdowns, I think that will give us a chance to control the tempo of the ball game. Look at the Cowboys winning. I think we can score 28 points on them. I think we can score 28 points on them. Two touchdowns by Javonte. I say 28-20. 28-20, yes. I recognize that score. We can, we will feast off of their incompetent offense up until this point. Is Nico Collins concerned you? He does. That's where the 20 points comes from. If he ain't there, I'm not giving them 20 points. I can't see 20 points if he's not there. That's just me. His buddy, Nico Collins, he's my friend. I fell on a small fellow.
Who's your pick to click? Javonte. Who touched the hundred-ten yards? 110. 110. OK. OK. Going out on the limb. I like that. Not different. Yeah, that 200 last week you jumped out the kick. Yeah, I did it. I can't get it all the way. Way with the Brazilian love. Come on. Let's go. Let's go. Heck, but what are you thinking? Look, the guy I'm going with has 730 passing yards. Seven touchdowns. He has a 70% completion rate. 107 pass or rating. He is ballin. He has to overcome that 14 seconds. Also, Bet you didn't know this. He has 200 in his career. 250 passing touchdowns. Has 30 rushing touchdowns. And that is putting him in some unique company. Only five other quarterbacks has done this in the NFL. If he wins this game, he ties Roger with 85 regular season wins. And I'm telling you, this young man is going to be motivated. I give him two touchdowns in this throwing touchdowns
in this game. And I'll also give him a rushing touchdown in this game. That press got is my pick to click. And we won't talk about that 14 seconds anymore. Top that, Mick. He would have had to what was the score? The score is 2420 2420. I got 20. You writing these now? I did. OK, good. You're in charge. If I keep this 24 20. Yes. 28 20 Javante. Yes. I got 26 23 Cowboys. And 26 23. The guy that's going to be the beneficiary of that performance will be George Pickens. All right. This is his time. This is it. Pickens has been a pick every week. They're going to flip. They're going to wait. They're going to wait. They're going to wait. The Texans are going to figure out they got a double CD lamp. He would have been the guy like to switch it. They're going to switch it the other way. They're going to flip it.
They're going to try to man him up. Good luck with that. 26 23. They're not going to be there in trouble if they do that. Right. Big time. See, they got to figure out how to take both of them out. That's what teams have to figure out. They can't. Yeah. They do. Just have to give up a whole lot somewhere else. Maybe in the run game or even the tightens down the middle. That's right. Mm-hmm. All right. I'm going to go up. So you're we've got all offensive picks to click against what was the best defense in the league last year. Paved away for us. I'm going to defense. You're going to defense. And we're going to get a pick from a current cowboy. A pick from the newest cowboy. My name is Joey Porter. Junior is my pick to click. We're going to move within 53 intercepts.
So you're going to see walls on the other side of the list. So you're saying as a chance. Joey Porter, Jr. And what was the score of that first meeting between the Cowboys and Texans in 2002? 1910. Cowboys win 19 to 10. Oh, the ugly 1910. Four field goals from Brandon Aubrey. Four field goals from Brandon Aubrey. He's making up for the kickoffs. That's right. Yeah. So there we go. We got four winners there. So you do know that the Cowboys have had an interception pretty much in every meeting versus the Texans. So I think that's in line with what you're talking about. You're giving it to Joey Porter. I like that. So last year in the playoffs, Stroud, right? He wasn't very good. He was not. Didn't they. He had been good the last day lights out of them. If I remember, I know there was pressure. I don't know about blitzing. Okay.
I know that was pressure. That's why Nick Casario, their GM, he kept one guy on their offensive line, Erser, they're left tackle basically and they've got send people after them. That plus one. I want to see that plus one going to the quarterback. Down. Okay. So who's getting to the quarterback? Downs. Blitz him. Okay. Caleb Downs gets a sack. You know, somebody is. Well, that's that is not. Somebody has the question. How does Joey Porter's appearance here affect Caleb Downs? And I'm going. It enhances it. Yeah. Yeah. How does it affect him? That's one side you don't have to deal with. That's one area. He's not playing. He's not playing the slot. Right? They're not going to put him at safety though. It gives us a chance to actually do more with him talking about Caleb Downs.
Right. It gives us a chance to do more with him. You can blitz probably with confidence now. If you know that you have one player over there that's not going to need as much assistance. And if they're covering, right? And like Nate Newton said, the pharmacy is open. The pharmacy is open. That confused the heck out of you yesterday too. I just want to point that out. The pharmacy. Come on. This is an open book test for my man Parker. Gotta make it happen. Yeah, man. Yeah, you gotta make it happen. All right. And anything or do you want to pitch anything? Any appearances? Anything like that? No. Road games. So you're not making appearances? No. No, no, no. I'm going to be game watching in Fort Worth. I have the address on the Worthy place here. But yeah, be out there. I'm not a appearance. That's not a, that's not a, there you go. That's not a good pitch. I remember the name of it or the place where people get to see you. Well, I don't think it's public.
Oh, okay. Yeah. It is private shows. It's a union. What? It's a union deal. So I have talked about the union work that I did. Oh, okay. And then from there, we sit down and just watch the game. Oh, okay. Chris Beamer won't build a lot of food. Fine, fine, fine. Just voting registrations that got lost, okay? That's your will. Mickey Bratis at Pro Circle. All right. That does it for another week of broadcasting here on the Cowboys shift. And we'll talk at you again after a Cowboys win on Victory Monday. Hi, noon on Monday. Cowboy Nation. I hope your team wins. Oh, Cowboys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys.com and the Dallas Cowboys football club. I'm a big cowboy. Yeah. Yeah.
