Uh, we are, we are hitting some cities this year. We know what they say. If you can't party with the big boys, don't show up. We party. We, um, but, uh, you know, Ricky Waters is awesome. So Dennis Brown, John London, I used to do the Niners post game show with Dennis Brown, a pre-imposed. And Dennis was good friends with Ricky. And we would do it at this bar out in a window, which is, you know, right on the other side of the Caldacot tunnel in the East Bay. I know where you know it is, John, but maybe people were like, where is that place? It's called fourth poor. Anyway, we went out there and we would do the show. They had this killer fire pit. And, um, it was like this rooftop bar and restaurant, really cool spot. And it's still there in Rinda, California. And, um, he brought Ricky out, you know, for some of the post games. And it's like,

you know, Ricky's just such a great nineer and unfortunately you left in free agency to the Eagles. And, uh, I, well, nine or fans are not happy about that. But Ricky, uh, Ricky's just such a great dude. It's such an easy go and dude. Such a fun guy to talk ball with. We had some great times talking ball, just around the around the fire pit, you know, Sunday nights and just real good times and just an easy going fun love and dude. Still much still very much a nineer fan. Cause the Bay is home, I believe. And, uh, so shout out to Ricky Waters. We love Ricky Waters. And, and so you got Ricky to go to your event and Seattle. Yeah, it'll be there. Meet and greet autographs. That's going to be available. The day before tickets are up now and you can buy your autograph, bring your memorabilia and all that kind of stuff. It's going to be a good time. Yeah, I'm thinking about going. I'm thinking about going to Seattle for that one. So I might have to park. Yes, here's say I might have to party in Seattle with you. That sounds like a plan. That sounds like a really good plan. Um, all right. We were often running on the, on the, on the, on the

cruise show. Um, but yes, definitely travel with John and take advantage of that. What's the best? If people want to get a hold of you, we just kind of show them some stuff. But there's a website or do you want them to connect with you via your social emails? The best way. He passed this. So like 49ers rush podcast at gmail.com 49ers rush podcasts at gmail.com. So head there first. And if you still got questions, email us 49ers rush podcasts at gmail.com. Awesome. Awesome stuff. Um, okay. So I wanted to get into tonight because I was thinking about

this as I was driving back from practice today. Great day in Santa Clara. Very hot practice. Very hot. It was something. It's John felt like training camp. It was like 85 90 degrees. Mike, I said to one of the PR girls, I'm like, this is like, this is almost hotter than summer. She's like, I know. So this is like a second summer down here. Um, who is three games in? So now, you know, before the season, it's all kind of guesswork. We actually have to see games before we can kind of make conclusions. And one game is not enough. I would say it takes three games were that were now there. We're going into week four. The Niners have played three games. There's three and no. Um, this is a perfect time to debate. Who is the biggest offseason acquisition? Who the time to think about it? You're looking at this team on offense. Um, you know, watching Oso Diggy Zua and what he's, what he's meant to this D line is something else. You got to remember Dre Greenlaw was an acquisition. What he's brought to this team is something else.

Um, I think Jack Jones has been a great addition so far. And then on offense, I mean, Mike Evans is a hall of famer and look what he's already brought to the table. I think Evans has been such an incredible addition. Kale on black, Dejan Stribling. So I thought we could throw it around. And see what people have to say. If I said to you, the biggest offseason addition for the Niners, what are you going with? Man, that's, it's crazy because it's, it's, it's a long list of answers that are all correct. Like, like they have created the perfect cocktail or stick it with the tailgate team. Like that, that works. And how do you not argue Raheem Morris? And what he's been able to do with this defensive line that like I, I cannot, I remember just sitting there thinking like, dude, you have Nequan Jones, you have Kevin Givitz and Sebastian Valdes out there at the same

time. You have three defensive tackles that none of which you had plans for taking any snaps at any point this season. They're practice squad guys at best. You got them out there all together and got a three and out with them. Like, like, the degree of, like, do you think about like the Olympics and how they do like, you know, they judge the scores. And it's like, oh, the degree of difficulty was a 10, right? Raheem Morris is doing some crazy, crazy stuff with the defensive line that nobody in the NFL wanted to have success with. So I think that that's huge. And I know, I want to hear your rant on Raheem Morris. But before we get there, I'm not going to miss a chance to talk about Dre Green law. He has changed everything. Seeing him play Will linebacker is phenomenal from D winners to him. One of the biggest glow ups. This roster has made. So stick with the defensive side. I'm going Raheem and Dre Green law. But I want to hear your Raheem rant. I've been waiting for this because I saw the title. Yeah, I mean, I'm going with Raheem. I mean, you lost Posa. And

you've had all kinds of injuries. I mean, you look at what's the Niners have had injuries. But, I mean, what have they lost exactly? They've lost. They've lost to Marcus Robinson and offense, Austin Pleasant's unoffence, Ricky Pierce saw an offense, Brett Toath unoffence. Who else? Unoffence. I guess, Jake Tongest, they lost Jake Tongest unoffence, struggling unoffence. Those are the guys that are hurt for the most. For Christian, but on defense, they lost a ton of defense. They've lost Alfred Collins. They've lost CJ West. They've lost Sam. Oh, and it's all on the D line. You know, they've lost. They've lost so much on the defensive line. Michele Williams on the pop list, you know, just a lot not to mention guys like Nate Hobbs, Nick Martin. They've lost a lot on defense. And I'm just looking

at this this game and watching the film last night. And I'm like, wow, the 49ers are getting pressure with a front four that was primarily Oso Diggy Zua and Keon White inside. Khalid Karim and Agbo Ocaronco or Obo Ocaronco outside. So, I mean, Ocaronco and Karim weren't on the team at the start of training camp. And white was supposed to be a guy who played off the bench in a role. And it's like, instead, their primary guys are Keon White, Odis O'Diggy Zua, Khalid Karim and Ocaronco. And they're still getting pressures. They had 10 more pressures in this game. They've had 40 pressures, I believe, in three games. Not only that, when I got more into the film, I mean, you could kind of see, you know, there was a lot going on in this game plan. I mean,

you definitely didn't, I mean, when you looked at the way the Niners went about things in this, they played zone coverage. They played a sortment of zones. I mean, if they played a downer to of man, possibly, but it was basically multiple zones all day long. They rushed four. They didn't blitz. I mean, they didn't play a lot of man to man. And they shut down all explosives. They had no explosives. They prevented all explosives. And they did it. They played nine different defensive linemen played at least 13 snaps. And they cut out the explosives altogether. They they, uh, percent through his longest past play of the day was 19 yards. And to get that done, I mean, there've been years where the Niners have had star laden defensive fronts and they couldn't get pressure. They were getting pressure with their front four. Now, when I watched it,

it was genius. It was genius. I mean, it was like Rahim Morris at times, you know, he was so many of the things that they're doing seem so involved. A lot of simulated pressure. There was a, I there was this one plan there. I won't forget. It was, it was a simulated six man rush. And they rushed three. Yep. And they draw the other three guys off into coverage. And they still got a hit on the quarterback. They got home on the quarterback. They didn't sack them. But they, they impacted the quarterback on a six man front, you know, our six man pressure look and like a sim pressure. And then only rush three, but they created such confusion. And we're so late with, with the with the shift that it caught Arizona by surprise. And even though it was three on five, the three got home. So I mean, to me, Rahim Morris, I mean, just knowing enough about defensive football, this is, this is genius. This is timing to have nine different defensive linemen playing at least

13 snaps. I have too much respect for the players across the board. But I mean, it's kind of a hodgepodge deal he's got right now. Nothing no offense to any of these guys. It's like this wasn't the original plan. And it's like, doesn't matter that it wasn't the original plan. He's still getting the production up front. He's scheming their, their, their pressure. And it's, it's truly amazing. I mean, it's absolutely amazing that he's getting the kind of success he's getting early on. And the way he's doing it is remarkable. Yeah. I want to expand on that like that six man simulated pressure. So you have Drake Green law and you have Fred Warner up there doing their mug show blitz where they're acting like they're coming. And the new addition is Rahim has Fred taking two steps towards the blitz then belling. Didn't see that under Robert Sala, whatever else they would bell immediately. So what happens is whenever Fred Warner does that, he's the only linebacker

doing that by the way. Drake Green law bells right off the bat. But Fred is so good. He could take two steps attacking which the tackle has to account for then Fred bells in the offensive tackles like standing there blocking nobody. Meanwhile, Colleague Green's going around the edge with nobody accounting for him. So you're creating a free blitzer. And then you had the backside defensive. And I think it was key on why don't that play also bail. So you're bringing two defensive tackles and Colleague Green and you're getting the pressure out of it. And meanwhile, you're dropping seven defenders into coverage. And so you're forcing, you know, the whole thing is like man, the new whatever with McDonald's defenses, you give a pre snap false read then a post snap true read. Now they're doing that with blitzers and Fred Warner is at the front of the class in the NFL. And so if you're in offensive lineman and you get your, you know, all right, we're counting zero, one, two, three, is we're going to rope brown, brown, brown, we're going to block right. So we're going to fan to the right. And then you fan to the right and Fred drops and you're just standing

there with your hands in the air like, what do I do? There's nobody over here. Meanwhile on the other side, that's where the pressures are coming from. And so you're doing so much ex and owes wise schematically wise without the bodies. And so man, I'm with you. Raheem Morris is a godsend. It is pretty fun. Seeing what he's putting out there with, you know, you've heard of the no name defense. I feel like this is like the difficult name defense because a lot of guys we just don't know about. And their names are obscure, which is awesome. And I hope that they continue rolling with this. But what they've done, if it could continue over the next two weeks, Raheem Morris has been incredible. Remember when you were younger and you could play sports, lift weights, go out drinking, hang out with friends, get a couple hours of sleep, wake up and feel like great the next day. Then I hit my 30s and now I'm in my 40s. And it's just different. You get back to back, bad night sleep. You feel horrible. Well, here's what I've learned. It is remarkable. What he's got it gotten out of key on white, who's just he serves as this versatile chess piece. He's out there all the time. They line him up outside. They stun him inside. They line him up inside. They stun him outside. He has to play more inside because of the injuries they've had to tackle. But they use him in a lot of different ways. He's like that versatile chess piece. I don't know. Raheem is awesome. This is an amazing thing. Now granted, solid didn't have Warner at the end of the year. He didn't have Green Law. Those guys are dominating right now. Warner had 17 tackles. Green Law is hitting like a truck and making all of them hurt. He's sending guys to the blue tent every single tackle. But I'm just so impressed because now we'll see against Denver. We'll see against Seattle. But to me, to have this many new faces, to be in your first year, to have so many injuries on one area of

your defense, and you have a really young secondary. And if you don't get pressure up front, your young secondary is probably going to get roasted and toasted and be feeling terrible. And to come out, play a sortment of zones and still get pressure with the guys that you got and to totally eliminate any and all explosives. John, it would be amazing if they played 48 snaps. The fact that they played 80 snaps and had no explosives is incredible. They wore down at the end of the day. There's no question about it. And they can't make habit of playing 80 defensive snaps. I got to figure out a way to get off the field. I actually was suggesting they do a small outblitz's early in drives just to make it happen one way or another. Either give up a touchdown or get off the field. Get off the field. He was a little bit more conservative overall. But the intricate things that they did to coordinate their to and I ask Kyle about it today. And he's like,

yeah, man, this guy's doing a great job of mixing it up. You know, mixes of fronts mixes of coverages zone, but not the same zone. It's not the same zone. So you're showing different looks as you know, on the back end and you're mixing it up a front, you're playing some stunting games, you're trying to take advantage of some mismatches. You're trying to be smart. I mean, it's, I'm impressed, man. I am impressed because Robert Salisak, very good defensive coordinator. It wasn't like this defense wasn't coordinated well, but look what Rahim has been able to do with less with all the injuries up front. I mean, it's, it's remarkable. If this continues, this guy's going to be a head coach next year or somewhere to I would not be shocked because everywhere he's been, he's been promoted from within his entire career. He was one of the youngest head coaches in NFL history and you know, stayed on with the Falcons became the head coach didn't really work out. But Lane, you talk about this difference between Salah, who is a good DC? Not a good

head coach. And Rahim Morris, I remember being at the games and just as soon as the defensive huddle broke, cover three, cover six quarters, like you could tell within an instant what Robert Salis doing defensively, they're not trying to confuse anybody. They want simplicity on the back end to make sure there is no errors or busted coverages. You can't do that with the Rahim Morris coach defense. I mean, true, he spent nine years in the Tampa two scheme under Monte Kiffin, right? People are always like, oh, he's an off front. Do calm down. He was decade plus with Monte Kiffin, like he gets the Tampa two scheme and you see some cover two. You see cover six, you see cover three, you see, you know, man under cover one. There's a lot of stuff and it's looking like different things every time they break the huddle. And so now Jacobi presets vet and he's going to be able to pick that stuff apart. We'll see about Bo Nix. He is not that. And so some of the disguising,

it's just window dressing for some of these veteran quarterbacks that know what's going on. And so you're not going to bait them into a lot of mistakes. But man, again, some of these younger guys, that's where you're going to start to see it pay dividends. And so that's one of the things I want to see this week because Bo Nix does typically protect the ball well. If you look at last season, this year, not so much. How's that going to play out? Can Rahim Morris scheme up some disguises to try to get the ball because that's the one thing that this defense is lacking thus far. And that's turnovers turnovers and getting off the field on third and short. Those are the two things that Rahim hasn't done yet. We'll see if he can muster some of that. Get off the field on third and short. Let's get some turnovers. No question. And they need more, you know, we'll see that with Matthew Judon, if he can get something out of Dugger, out of Ramell Hight, who's back practicing today in a limited fashion. I would say, so you took two. I'm going to go with Rahim. If I got to go with a number two, you went with Green Law and and Rahim, I stole your title.

I'll see you. So you don't get mad at me. Okay. I'm going to go. I'm going to go. Rahim. My second guy, I'm going to go Grayson, Halton because Grayson, Halton is playing 30 snaps of game. He is, that's a lot of snaps for a rookie defensive tackle. He's being asked to do a lot of things. They're lining him up outside at times. That's a tall ask. To me, his ability, you know, I was told he's a rusher and you can see the foot speed. And he definitely has high motor, right? He'll run to the sideline. But to me, what I really love about him is his strength. At the point, he will stack and shed. And at the point of attack, he will, he will throw the offensive line in a way. He sees through them. He keeps his vision through the line, through the block. He never loses, loses sight of the interior ball carrier. The ball carrier, I should say, in the interior lanes. And he makes plays on the football. He's functionally strong against the run.

He gives you a ton of pass rush. I think top to bottom. I think he's the best defensive tackle they got. I think he's better than Oso Diggy Zoo. I really think that, well, Oso is an amazing pass rusher. But Oso's got, got issues against the run. This guy is more complete. This guy will keep his shoulder squared. He'll plug up that hole. He won't run by the by the ball carrier. I think he's a little bit better against the run. And I like a complete defensive tackle as opposed to just a one gap penetrating go kind of guy. I like O Diggy Zoo. And he's got some special traits. But I think Halton has got, when you're thinking, when you're factoring in fourth round pick, and what this guy's doing against the run and the pass as a rookie defensive tackle, I love it. I think he's been fantastic. Yeah. And I know we were on KMBR earlier. And I brought this up. You talk about the alignment. Dude Grayson was supposed to be the three tech understudy

to Oso. There's a big difference between playing the shade plugger roll where you're on the center and getting double teams almost every single time between the center guard and being a three technique lining up between the guard and the tackle. It's just completely different. But you've moved Grayson. Took two weeks with all the injuries. Dude, you got to move. You got to start now. Yeah, you were supposed to learn from Oso and B.O. So 2.0. And we just rotate you guys in that B gap. And that's your job. He's playing the Javon Kinlow roll. He's playing the Earl Mitchell roll. You think about those types of bodies. These are six four plus three hundred twenty plus type dudes. He's not built that way. But the result that's on the field, it's pretty freaking awesome. And I'm saying a lot of people compare you know online about DJ Jones. You played him this week, which is awesome. And Grayson halted and I always push back on that because as great as DJ Jones was, DJ Jones was a healthy scratch for two and a half seasons to start his career. Dude,

never played. He was a healthy scratch every single week. Now, the third year, second half, he turned on and then that fourth year, he was dominant and has continued to play that way. But for Grayson, Halton to do this in the first month as a rookie, changing defensive tackle positions, being good versus the run, being good versus the past, the consistency, this does not make sense. This is the type of play you would expect from a top 15. Like if you if you showed me the tape of Grayson, Halton and said, where did this guy? This is a rookie year. Where did he go in the draft? Oh, you're saying it's hot 15. And this was one of the worst defensive tackle draft classes that we can remember. But you got him in the fourth. You got him in the fourth. And so great pick. Yeah, I'm with you, Larry Grayson's fun. And like you could just watch 93 when he's out there and have a wonderful time at the ball at the ball game because he's that entertaining, that finally he plays with energy plays with passion. You could tell it means a lot to him.

And you always hear John Lynch with the comments saying after the draft, we're trying to find guys that just love football. Grayson loves some damn football. No question. That being said, we got somebody over here who's like 30 second run defense. That's taught me. That's just Tommy's leveling, which is negativity. I love you, Tommy. He's killer guitar player, by the way. But uh, yeah, like, but you're 30 second total run defense. You're not in yards per rush attempt. You're top 10. Yeah. With these guys, that's huge. Well, the defense has not been able to get off the field. And they're going to have to be able to get off the field at some point. But yeah, as far as I just think, you know, I was expecting where were the pressures coming from, where were the sacks coming from. And to have a representative pass rush with with injuries they've had is really something else. One more on Rahim. Uh, I was looking at some numbers on on bone nicks. And bone nicks, um, does not have strong numbers against the blitz 44.6 pass rating in the NFL against

the blitz. I saw him to Greg Coastel today. And he was like, you know, I'm watching them on film and their offense doesn't have a lot of continuity. Um, to what they're doing. He said, you know, Denver's office wasn't very good against the Rams. Uh, there's not a lot of rhythm there. He said there's not a lot of clean past plays. Uh, I mentioned to him that one of the things I've seen when I watched them on the all 22 is just that they have like five different running styles that they use. I mean, they'll go duo and they'll go outside zone and they'll go inside zone and they just, they've got a bunch of different running plans. It's like it's, it's like they and they haven't really defined under Davis Web exactly what they want to do. And they just don't look like they they put together, but that 44.6 pass rating against the blitz for bone nicks is more in line with what young quarterbacks will typically look like when you pressure them and blitz them. I would imagine, um, you know, Rahim would love to pressure him with just four not blitz. But I have a feeling when

you see that number 44.6 pass rating, I think you're going to see some five and six man pressures. And he's been a top five blitz rate guy multiple times in his career. Like he is, he's not Robert Salah and the timid, you know, like he will uncoercate is this the game. Bo Nick's struggles throwing the ball, versatile. He beats the blitz with his legs. That's the date. So for the 49ers defense, you've got to be true past rush lanes this week. Like you can't let them get outside. So that complicates things a little bit. The stunts that you run because you don't want defensive tackles on the outside with bone nicks. He can outrun those guys. Um, that's one of the things that I really want to watch. But I'm with you, Larry. This Dinfra Bronco's offense to say is below average is being kind. They are not in the top 10 of any metric besides fumbles lost. That is it. So I chart 18 different metrics every single game. We chart the 49ers rush team. It's not just me doing this, but they're bottom 10 and 15 out of 17 categories,

offensive categories. You know, like they haven't figured it out. They've got four incredible wide receivers. They're wide receiver core. You could argue as best in the NFL if you're looking one through four. They can't figure it out. And so hopefully it's not this week, but they do have two quality wins against the Jags. Um, and then against the Rams. Like those are two really good football teams, I think at the end of the day. So they can win games. And the one thing that Bonaix does, I think maybe as well as anybody in the NFL, he has 11 fourth quarter comebacks. It is young career, which is he's a card stew. Let's go, let's go. He starts slow, but he finishes fast and he's pretty clutch. Yeah, and there's no question

about that. All right, let's do this. Let's move John and I to the corner real quick. Oh, here we go. We'll do our price pick price picks line up for today. We'll share the screen. And there it is right there and we'll put it right there and turn on and then we've got our graphics over here. We want to make sure we got the right graphics. You're nothing without your graphics these days. Okay. Um, here we go. There it is right there. Oh, look at that. Price picks use code HMA, new users play $5 if it wins. You get $150 bonus lineups. Thank you to prize picks for being a proud sponsor of the crew show. All right, we'll start with a, we'll go Nair's Broncos. Which of these Brock Pertie steel like you can have almost any Brock Pertie you stat you want. You got a bunch of them here. You got you got 12 different options here. I like the less on Brock Pertie pass attempts. They got at 31 and a half.

I think that this is going to be a control the clock run type game a little bit more. Which he's only thrown over 32 times once. Um, this season. So one out of three. So I do like that number. I'll leave the second one to you, but not saying you got to go with the Larry. I just say I like that. Um, I'm trying to think what a who else do we have? What are the options down here? Kiddles been pretty good. Um, okay, I think I'm going to go more on and kind of leaning into your thought thought is 23 and a half rush yards for K. Long Black. Oh, that's what that is. Yeah, that's 23 fresh yards. So I like that. I like K. Long Black to to have more, you know, more like a 50 or 60 yard day. Uh, that it was a heavy dose of McCaffrey last week. I think they won't put that on two weeks in a row. I think they'll ease off a little bit. I do think it's going to be a run heavy plan. But I think they will probably let K. Long Black

touch the ball a bit more. Now I'll type in Denver. Uh, oh, you know, we can see what we want to choose for Denver. So what do you like here? You get bone next, trout, man. Let's scroll down. Let's get to I think sudden is kind of the guy that will have success against our corners. He's kind of that older, more savvy vet, kind of Michael Wilson, who just seems to have his best games against the Niners every time. Um, so I would, I would focus on the court in Sutton. He was more towards the top. But if you see something that you like, well, I was thinking jail in Waddle, but you know what, let's go Sutton Sutton. Let's see Sutton is where is he? There he is. So you can go Sutton, um, fantasy score nine. Hmm. Longest reception, 17 and a half yards. What's that three reception?

I would go over, man, I hate that it's at three though. Because then if he hits three, then you don't give your receptions. That's the killer. How about five and a half receiving targets? Oh, I do like that. I kind of like that because I like that because, um, you know, that's he has not to catch it. You know, he could he could actually be targeted and not catch it. So let's go with that. Um, all right. We'll come over here. Little thing go bang out. Put five on it. And we will submit our lineup down here. Click. I like this lineup Larry. Yeah, this is a good one. I think this is a winner. All right. Let's view our lineup. We've got a three pick power play, Brock Purtie with, um, 30 less than 31 and a half pass attempts. Kale on black with more than 23 and a half rush yards. And courtland Sutton has to be targeted six times. If those three things happen,

our five dollars becomes 30. And I think those three three things are going to happen. So thank you to prize picks for being a proud sponsor of the crew show. We appreciate prize picks. They do a great job being a sponsor of the show. And we will move everything around real quick and get us back into our normal spots. And then we'll move that. Look at that. Beautiful. Um, all right. Couple more things before we call it quits. We're we're not going forever tonight because it's a warm night and we've been working all day. John, I've got some things coming up later tonight. Johnny's got some things coming up later on tonight. Why do you think couple thoughts on this one, one on Purtie? Why do you think that we've seen Shanahan have Purtie under center more? 26 snaps last week under center, 57% of the nine or snaps. He's been under center this year through three games. That's quite a bit higher than what he was last year. I don't have last year's number in front of me. Um, but you know, there's all kinds of theories as to why, you know, I know

you operate from under center. I think there's the mesh point on the play action is a little bit more enticing to freeze the linebackers. You can create a little bit more space in between by freezing the linebackers on the play action from under center than just having the mesh point through through the gun. That's just my, my thought on that. The other thing I've noticed is I feel like Brock Purtie. I'm going to ask him tomorrow about this. If is it possible that he that they're under the center more because of him? Because he seems like he gains rhythm in his drop and he's a rhythm player. And I just feel like the way I see him bounce back on in rhythm on the drop. It's like he's really worked on that. He's really honed like his rhythm. And it seems like it seems that maybe he's he's under center more so that he can establish a little bit more of that rhythm that makes him so good. Other than that, I mean, do you think it comes from Shanahan? Do you think it's

what do you make of the fact that he's it's more like the early days of Shanahan? Like when Shanahan first took over the Niners, they were under center, you know, they were under center, but then it kind of evolved over the last few years to more of a, you know, they're in the gun and there like a downfield passing team from in the gun. And now this year, they're nearly 60% from under center and Brock is in full rhythm and looks amazing. I'm just kind of wondering where you think that came from and what advantages are there to it? Yeah, like you're talking father Shanahan now, like you're going back to the Broncos and 94 season Ricky Waters that this underneath it complicates the defense because it takes longer to get your read. And the new shotgun, you know, pistol was kind of the evolution out of the shotgun because and again, we're stick with the Niners and Nevada and kind of this whole, you know, calling cavernic all this stuff that all this came out of. You went to the pistol because you didn't declare where the running game was going. When you're in an offset

shotgun with the quarterback five yards and the running back to his side, there's only so much you can do. And whenever you put the tape out, man, you can't run counter to both sides. You can either run a quick toss, you know, outside crack toss with the Niners do. You could run your zone read through the opposite A gap, like it just limits a lot of that stuff. When you are under center in the I formation, which the Niners do with Cal, shoot, they even put Debo and I formation on one play as the fullback, which was hilarious two weeks ago. But whenever you're in that formation, the quarterbacks under center and you step back to give your play action read, it freezes the linebackers and safeties for full count longer than if there's a shotgun play action. Because man, you can go be going left right, all that difference of it just takes longer. The running back is also gaining more power speed coming up through the play action fake. It just changes everything. Now Jimmy G didn't like this as much. He liked the shotgun. He liked to see Brock, he don't need to see anything. That dude

is the daredevil of NFL quarterbacks. There's a Marvel reference for those or DC. I could be wrong on that one. Oh, I'm going to get so much. But the idea is like Brock, he is so incredible at understanding what the reads are without even looking. And so whenever he turns his back to the defense and carries out that play action, he knows where he's going with the ball before he turns around. And once he does plant that on that five or seven step drop, he's in rhythm like you talked about and he just comes out firing. And whenever you have the offensive line that has your back, it has been incredible in past protection like the 49ers have been, you just even have even more confidence that you don't have to worry that somebody's going to be hitting you. Zero sex through three games is unheard of in today's NFL. So it's this whole multitude of you're making it harder on the defense. Brock knows where he's going with the ball anyway. The offensive line is giving him confidence. The rhythm on those three, five, seven step drops out of, you know, being under center. And just how

quick the ball is coming out. Brock can turn his back to the defense. Get his feet set, turn around and that ball is out so quick. How many times have we seen an unblocked defender come off the edge and not touch Brock, pretty. That's how quick he's making these decisions. And what's crazy is Brock, pretty is dead last to the NFL. This is where it's good to be dead last and throwing to his first read. He gets from one to two to three to four faster than any quarterback in the NFL. That's his superpower. And because he can do that, you can do under center play action seven step drops more and have confidence. It's not going to result in a set. And anybody who thinks the Niners numbers are inflated. They're actually deflated because they've nobody has had fewer offensive plays than the Niners outside of Tennessee. The Niners are doing this despite the fact that they have not won the time of possession battle. Couple, couple thoughts before we jet. Let's

talk new players today. Matthew Chudon practice for the first time. It's wearing number 43. What do you think Chudon's going to add? I think that he adds a past rushing kind of significance that you don't truly have on the edge. The problem. And I like, I love the addition. I really, really do. The problem is you only get a call up two guys a week. And it's like, man, I understand that you're getting Romello hype back. That helps key on white. If he's healthy, he missed today with the hamstring, right? Yeah. Kick him inside a little bit more. That helps the defensive tackles. But do you elevate Kevin Givens? It's a batch of Valdez again. Well, if you're missing a wide receiver brand and cooks, probably going to get called up. You only get two. And so you can't put more guys on IR to create the space. So this is kind of the the the chest of the roster management. I think the 49ers are struggling with Matthew. Judon. He's been with the team now. Get him up there.

I don't think this is going to be his week to dress personally. But you're going to have to at some point. And he can't wait to back practice. But yeah, Matthew, Judon, somebody that knows the scheme, knows the system coach under Rahim has some explosiveness hasn't been great in the past. But to look at the names that you're playing with, Nequon Jones, Villamee, Fahoko, Jr. Oak, Ron Quo, Khalid, Karin, like it. You got to put somebody out there. And it's nice to get a veteran with a lot of experience, 70 plus sacks, pro bowls, all that stuff played in the scheme. It just helps having, you know, create raising the floor play of that defensive light. I think that's what Matthew Judon does. Yeah, I mean, I think he should help. I mean, we'll see. I mean, his past rushing metrics the last couple years have not been great. But maybe in this environment with this D line coach, you know, he dials it back to 2022 and has a big five or six games or more. I think it's interesting. How about the receivers? There's branding cooks has been brought in.

Today they brought in Dante Pettis, Pettis practice, wearing number 15 Kyle praised, branding cooks and said that he's looked really, really good. I mean, what else is he going to say? But how do you feel about, you know, I mean, is it possible Evans with the hip and with the ribs isn't going to go this week? And they're going to try to beat Denver without Evans? Or do you think you'll be out there? Or what do you think of of Pettis? What do you think of cooks? I saw Pettis signing as do we need reps with somebody that knows the system. That's what I saw. I don't think Pettis is a very real possibility to start and get reps could be wrong. Him and Jordan walkings just have such a similar style play space creators, smaller body that are speed guys, but a little more finesse wide receivers. But Dante Pettis can play everything. He has played everything in this, this role he can play X he can play Z. I doubt you put him at F, but you could. I think Dante Pettis was brought in to help with the load management through practice this week. Branding cooks,

I think has a legitimate chance to get called up and to actually get snaps whether Evans plays or doesn't play. Branding cooks was brought in for a reason. I think that he will get playing time at some point. Dante Pettis, I do not could be wrong. I'm wrong all the time. You'd ask my wife. I don't want to see Pettis play in front of walkings. I'm going to lose my ass if that happens. Cooks on the other hand, I don't want to see him play over walkings either. I want to see them investing in walkings. I understand there are people that don't think walkings is good, but you know what? Let's actually find out together. You're seeing that lead in breakers and Shanahan's the king of in breakers. And he's got a gear that these other guys don't have. I mean, you can absolutely see it on the practice field. He's got another gear that is special. Not everybody has it. Okay, I want to play this before we get out of here. This was an interesting sound bite that I heard today. And look at that production production. Here he is. This is, oh wait a second, maybe

that's right. Okay, so here it is. This is Rahim Moschert, who weighed in on Brian Thomas Jr. He likes to weigh in on everything. Brian Thomas Jr. is interesting because he hasn't done anything this year. He didn't do much last year. He had a great rookie year. He made the Pro Bowl's a rookie at double digit touchdowns. He was fantastic. He's not old. He's not heard. He's still on his rookie deal. Now there's all this talk. They're going to shop him. And the Niners name has come up. And Rahim was asked about it. Guys, they have to realize, hey, look, when I go into a situation, it's about my mindset, right? As of lately, we know that his mindset hasn't always been there in regards to how he plays, right? And he needs that confidence. So what better way than to put him in a different situation with a whole new team that gives him that confidence and that boost and that morale eventually to get back to that rookie year. That rookie year was exciting for not only him, but for fans, for everybody else that was watching him.

And a team that comes to mind for me, I'm thinking about San Francisco 49ers. I think that that'll be a great fit for him. With Mike Evans, we'll see what that injury entails. But obviously, you know, you're dealing with a bet like Mike Evans to, you know, Brian, that I think that it'll be a perfect fit. He can go, like you mentioned, he can go off the top, he can make, he can make plays at the end of the day. And that's something that the San Francisco 49ers, they're going to need to, you know, they can't just rely on Debo or Kittle or juice, use check or even Christian. They need to rely on another person. I think that I'll be a good fit. Hmm. Premier hosts on Verbo deliver quality vacation rental stays with fast responses and clear instructions. So you don't have to worry about surprises. I asked our host a question about the house last night and he got back to me super quick. See, that's the Premier host move right there. I'll wish I had a Premier group chat. I asked them where we should have dinner last night and they left me on red.

I know you saw it. It says it. Classic group chat move. Don't walk into a surprise. Book a top rated Verbo stay with a Premier host. If you know, you Verbo. Brian Thomas Jr. What do you think? I mean, you know, one, I don't know, I'm out of love, Brian Thomas Jr. I love to medellis. He was awesome. Yeah, you know, I don't know what's happened recently. I mean, in Jacksonville, he's with Trevor Lawrence. He's not producing. It's been two years in a row. It's not like it's just one year. It's two years. He hasn't produced. But he was awesome as a rookie. He's not old. He's not hurt. So maybe there's some coverage issue or some focus issues. But you know, when you have a great locker room that's getting the most out of guys, that's when I want to take a shot on somebody who's got a lot of talent. Because if you can connect now, you can really improve your football team. Yeah, is this guy good right now? He's not been good lately for Jacksonville. But I think if you put him in the 49ers, there'd be such a new focus

there. They had such a professional high caliber high standards in their wide receiver room. You got Mike Evans in there. I know they got other guys. They get cooks. They've got pettis and they've got Christian Kirk coming back and, you know, maybe some point struggling. But I almost feel like you got to pretend like striplings out for the year. And if I could, if I could get this guy, I mean, I saw some article where they said that they think the price tag for Brian Thomas Jr. is going to be a high day three pick. Well, if that's true, that's a fourth round pick. If I could get this guy for a fourth round pick, I would absolutely do it. I would probably give up a third round pick. I think you put Brian Thomas Jr. at his age in the 49ers system. You know, I mean, I think you would take off. I think you would be awesome. I really like that idea. And he's a high end player who just needs a little bit more professionalism, a little bit more

motivation, maybe a better quarterback. I think you could have one of the NFL's best receivers over the next five years. Evans is at the end. I don't the rest of the guys are question marks. I do it. I would do it. I know I'm, you know, I've said that I would do other deals as well. So maybe people could be like, Oh, Krueger, you just want to see him make a trade. Okay, fine. I want to see them get better. And I think this guy would make them better. Yeah, I'm curious what Jacksonville, the coaching staff and general manager, what they have to say, because yeah, he's been disappointed coming off that thousand yard rookie year. And like man, everybody thought he was the next, you know, Jordan Jefferson, whatever else. And then just got relegated. And, and you know, he's a part of the offense, but hasn't done much. If you get a four or fourth dude, yeah, let's go. I think it would cost more than that. Now you're talking about giving up a third round pick. Let's see how much faith do you have in stripling? It's, you know, Christian Kirk has to come back. You predesignated

that IR to return spot. He's coming back should be next week. I don't know. Um, to Marcus Robinson's been incredible in this offense is he coming back. What is your faith in those three guys? But man, if the Mike Evans injury is truly day to day, I kind of show it shrug my shoulders. Like, yeah, if we can get a value, cool. But if if Mike Evans is missing long term, which I don't think that he is, that makes this more paramount. Like you got to get somebody out there at X that can stretch the field vertically. He could do that at least. But yeah, what, what is the problem? Like, like, how do you have so much success with the same quarterback? You're rookie year. What is it mental? Is it kind of a Dante, Pettis type guy that just heads not in it, doesn't like content. Like, I don't know. Yeah, like, I truly don't understand. It's hard to rationalize and like, dude, what is wrong here? Um, he's 23. He's 23. I'm all for adding big time talent on the perimeter. Yeah. Look at this,

by the way, NFL rumors, Steelers, Joey Porter, Jr. Still a hot trade topic. The Lions and the 49ers have been teams monitoring his situation. Um, he's not playing on Thursday. You got to do a contract or he's going to have a John Ginny's back issue. Like he's he's he's put out there. I ain't playing till I get paid. And like, that's part of it. So like if you trade for him, you've got a page, Joey Porter. He's damn good though. That back inch you will be, injury will be healed immediately after he signs that contract. Let's hit our supers and we'll jet. We got this one. And we will do all these here. We got this one from D level. Do you love? Do you love? 30. I will watch this later, but keep it going, boys. Thank you. I like that. I like, I like somebody who views us as appointment viewing. He's not he's not watching it now, but he's going to catch it later and he's throwing some some love our way. Teases two jewels silver star. Thank you,

tea. Uh, we get this one. Raul Castro. Readers. Raiders. Hey, congrats on three at O meet. We'll find out how real they are this week. But um, yeah, we'll see how it goes. Raiders are three and now are the Raiders legit. No, but they don't beat themselves. They're a well coached team with good offense and defensive lines that just kind of stay out of the way. Like they don't win games, but they don't lose games. Right. I don't know if that makes sense. And you can do really well in today's NFL if you don't beat yourself. Um, I think clink who beac is a hell of a coach to to they got some good players to tease as imagine this team fully loaded and healthy. Yeah. I mean, if the Niners could ever get to a fully loaded status, I really think they got a great chance. They got a great chance of doing it all this year if they could just get get to that last, you know, get everybody healthy. Uh, law of all. Let's see more Watkins this week. He's shown he can

play at least last week. Yes. Yes. No question. No question. And we have this one as well. Uh, thanks to all the supers. By the way, Anthony Catany is in the house sharp corner sports cards and collectibles is a great sponsor of the crew shows. This is another amazing show. John, I hope all as well. I had the crew show listener. I had a crew show listener in the shop today from Atlanta, Georgia. Oh, thank you again for everything. Go Niners love that. I like to hear that. I like to hear that. Um, I didn't interview today at the locker of Khalid Kareem. And I'm like, yeah, where are you from? And he's like, well, I live in Atlanta. I'm like, yeah, you know, my, my daughter goes to Emory in Atlanta and he's like, yeah, I might, you know, I think he said my wife, you know, as a nurse practitioner, I'm like, oh, we had a nice little nice little moment there. Um, really good depth room has already producing. And Josh Dalinx is, hey, Larry, after the red socks. I respect it. I respect it. I respect it. Come on, bro.

No, I want to meet here. I'm room to team meteor. And that one, bro. Yeah. I mean, come on. F the red sucks. My nephew's a big red sucks man. So I love my nephew. Before you stay through the moments in between and after your trip. Because a great trip starts with peace of mind and maybe a good playlist. But we've got the peace of mind part covered.
