So, we're not, you know, you got to do a little bit of work in the fall to put a few things away, but we use cab and all winter. I like it out here in the winter, Jay. Okay. Do you go ice fishing? A lot of people go ice fishing. Well, maybe go out to somebody's hot at some point in the winter. I don't have a nice fishing tray, a hot house, whatever. I'm not a big ice fisherman. It's like you sit out there and I don't know. It's not really my thing, but I'll go try anything. What the hell? Yeah, yeah. No, I get if you have, if you have like the heated hot, well, of course. Oh, yeah. It's a little bit different. Oh, my buddy's got a barbecue in his. He's got a TV screen with a camera that shoots that's aimed at your hook. So you can actually watch your hook and see if a fish is coming to bite it while you're in there having a cold beer and a hot burger. Oh, yeah. So that's, that's like the clamping version of fishing. Well, that sounds like. That's awesome. Oh, yeah. I guess so. Yeah. One's coming. Okay. Let's get ready. Let's see if

you bite. All right. Okay. I know that was a thing. My goodness. I got cameras everywhere now, even down the fishing hole. So, uh, now I know there's a lot of cameras and other fishing, but that's the pH kind. So that isn't good. Um, the anything stand out to you today in, uh, from Bowman, Walman, Bouchard, Jari. Um, the player's not so much. I like what Bouchard had to say, but nothing surprised me. I thought that he's, he just, he's starting to really become a veteran player now. Like, and he's not, he's handles the media way better than he used to. He'll always be a short answer guy, but he's a, you know, he's just a pro. He sounds like a veteran. I thought that, you know, what I got from Stan Bowman was, and, you know, he didn't mean it in a negative way or in a, in a, in your face way, but it was basically, everyone has their right to protest Alex Foremanton. Everybody has their right to disagree. We've hired him. He's playing for us. And that's how it's going to be. They're not backing off that one inch. No, I never expected him to.

I never expected him to, but it was pretty clear today that, you know, that's not going to happen. So you can have a protest saturday and the orders won't get in your way and you can voice your displeasure and Stan Bowman will, will, will, will legitimize your right to have a different opinion, but probably on opening night, Foremanton will be in an order's uniform. Well, I'm kind of curious. I was going through it. Now, obviously the match, the boy will open up a spot. And I do wonder if, you know, if the voice healthy, maybe they don't sign him. But so he'd be on the roster. But I'm not, I'm not so well that's a lock that he's an opening night guy when I look at this, at this roster of their team because like Dawkins, Frederick, for their role in their style of play, like you need some, you know, different team type of players on your team, right? And those two are really the only two outpod goals. And I guess physical forwards, right? Like don't those two need to be on your, your wingers on your fourth line? I hope that they do. Yeah. I just feel like Foremanton, as a penalty killer. And as, I mean, the reason they got him is, is that they feel like

he can hopefully become an excellent penalty killer for them. And that's a huge need as you as you said at the press conference today, it was pretty clear. So that's all I got for you is I think they're looking big picture of Foremanton. He needs some reps. He needs to get back in the NHL and to start playing. So, you know, does he play opening night? Maybe he's not ready to play opening night. But I think he's part of this thing. I think he's going to get his chance, don't you? Yeah. And like what we see on opening night can be very different. Well, definitely whatever we see on opening night, regardless, it's going to be very different than what we see post trade deadline for this team. I'm the half cap space. You know, I think they're going to try some different things and kind of see, but I like there's like the orders window to win is now the next two years, they're going to be making trades at the deadline to augment their team. I have no doubt my mind about that. So, you know, you can, you can save some spaces the season goes. And then, you know, the more you have not, not that need necessarily can blow your brains up because there's still, you know, there's a limitation on every player you can get because you still got to give up some

assets to get those type of players. But I fully expect them to be rather aggressive in trying to land some players at the deadline spec. The Mike Babcock in, you know, Jake Walman who looked a little trimmer anyway when I saw him. And then in the mentioned how you know, it just kind of trained a good summer of training something they couldn't do last year. But he just talked about how the whole group, which, and I'm guessing that's probably a little message from the coach is, hey, I want us to be much more aggressive in how we play. We're going to really, we're not sitting back. We're going to attack. So you got to be in good condition to do that. How, how patient do you see back? Because all the players have now said, oh, you know, you're straightforward. You know where you stand with Babcock? How patient do you think he will be? Cause you got to remember, he hasn't coached in the NHL in like seven years. Yeah, I don't like everything we hear about this guy is, is his level of preparation. He's

really well prepared. And he like, what did Bowman say today? Like he notices everything. That's what you hear about him. He works a great bench. That's what all the guys who play for him have said, your prepared is hacky. Never gets out coached here. The line matchups are really, really good. And he's, so my point would be this, there's a lot of details that he, everyone tells you he's going to focus on. Those details have to happen. Those details aren't going to happen in the first four games. They're not going to happen in the first eight games. I think he's got to watch this team try to play whatever the system is. He's putting in particularly defensively. And I would say after a month and a half, the guys that can't do it, we're going to start to find out about those guys. You know, the guys that aren't responding. I don't think he's going to blow their brains out in October. But I think in mid November on, if you're not in Mike Bob Babcock's program, we're going to start to notice which guys haven't been able to be in his program. Is that fair? Yeah, potentially. I just, because I'm always, I'm not a huge believer,

the guys can change your stripes that much, right? Like he's, you know, the thing about Babcock is, like in the, in the time, and I think it was spec you asked the question about like in the moment, that's where Babcock's like his, his thirst for perfection at times has led to him insulting players, kicking players, all those sorts of things. And I just, like I wondered, is DJ Smith, like do they, do they put a little buzzer in his pocket and be like, okay, you know, like you, you've reached overboard here. Like I'm honestly, because if that's the way you've always done it, it's hard to just naturally change it. Yeah, no, that's fair. But the way he's always done it, can't be done it like that anymore. No, we can't, I agree. You can't mentally beat up on a Johan Franson the way he did in Detroit. So I asked, boom, and that today, like where's the checks and balances going to be on a guy who's, who's, you know, the line, when he steps over the line, he does it in game on the bench. So who's going to be watching over that? He does it in private and addressing room meeting where he's, where in the past, he was looking at cell phones,

of things like that. Who's watching over that? Like Bowman said, they've made it very clear that all that stuff can happen here. And now let's see, I guess I'd say to you, if, if, if Babcock can't figure out in this, his third, this isn't the second chance, this is the third chance. And a last chance, right? It is a last chance, saloon for this guy. If he returns to those things that got him in trouble along the way, then he's addicted to that behavior and he's going to have to seek counseling and do and find a new job because no one's ever hiring him again as a hockey coach. So you know, if he can't figure it out by now, what's allowed and what's not, then he's got a serious, some serious issues and we'll be looking for a new coach in January. Yeah, I think like DJ Smith is going to play a vital role because obviously he's the main guy on the panel. He'll not be the only guy, but definitely the main guy on the panel. Sure smart coach, right? Yeah. Sounds of experience. Yeah. And he'll have to be, he'll have to be one

that, you know, finds a way to get the right guys on the panel. And that to me, spec it's part of you. We can look and sit okay. Yeah, you know, like there's who's on your penalty kill. That's one factor, but how they're running it and you don't ask moments specifically about, you know, are you going to get a first unit penalty kill? I really think they need like the one that you know, okay, 90% of the time when we can, these are the guys are going to just like their power play. small decisions that can have an outsized impact. One of the simplest is staying hydrated. Whether I'm traveling, getting a workout in or heading into a busy day, I keep liquid IV on hand. It's clinically demonstrated to hydrate faster than water alone and contains three times the electrolytes of the leading sports drink, plus eight vitamins and nutrients. It's an easy addition to your daily routine and helps support hydration when you need it most. Shop now at liquidiv.com. Liquid IV hydration that goes wherever life takes you. Ligibility varies, terms apply, cancel anytime. That's a mouthful.

I'm sure I'm all for a first unit power or a Pembe kill. I want to say this. When Goodson moved on to Dallas, we mentioned that Chris Naublok, we thought that he was poorer for the fact he didn't have another experienced NHL head coach behind his bench. I think DJ Smith is that for Babcock. He was in Ottawa. He got beat by the Orders in LA. He knows what he's doing. I think having that level of voice, now remember, he's an associate coach, not an assistant coach for what that's worth. But I think that's important. I think there's a ton of experience behind the bench. The only issues, listen, the only issues, Babcock's never had coaching are when he gets weird. When it comes to coach and hockey, he's always been a hell of a hockey coach and no one will tell you different. No one's ever said, he didn't know what he was doing or wasn't prepared or he got out coach. That never happens.

It's all the other stuff. If you can get past that other stuff and he's got DJ Smith with him, I think the other should have a fairly strong coaching staff, don't you think? Yeah, I would think so. What Tristan Jari, obviously it's a pretty important position. We know Anderson's not going to be ready for probably the first month of the season. Devin Levi wasn't even in the NHL last year. So I got to look at that. They don't have a hectic schedule at all. There's no back to backs or anything. They got two and three days off between a lot of those games. But Tristan Jari should be getting seven of the first 10 starts as a no brainer. We'll see what he does to do. What's your expectations for Jari and a revamped structure in front can clearly help him. But at the end of the day, he's still going to have to make some say. He does, but I think they're hand in hand. I think we've always known that in Edmonton. We never did. We were never always positive on skin or whether it was the goalie or the team in front of them at times. And any goalie who has a team that's going to be as

attentive as this orders team, I think everybody here realizes everybody here realizes there has to be a greater attention to keeping pucks out of your net and to making chances that aren't so great a as they've been, you know, two on ones from center rice tap ends at the edge of the crease that the goalie had no chance on, things like that. So I guess I'd say to you, Jay, that if the team in front of them does what they're saying they're trying to do, the job's got to get a little easier for Jari. And now it's up to Jari to finish it, right? It's up to Jari to play better. You play last year, stay healthy. If those two things happen, I think you, you know, you tell me is Jari not enough goalie to play behind a really good defensive team if that's what the orders can become? Well, you would think so, yes, right? You think so? Yeah. There's been lots of goalies have done it. So, so that's you think so? Yeah. Yeah. That's always we're in Edmonton. So there's always

going to be a question about the goal. Yeah, yeah. I think in times it becomes a little bit too easy. People like to the blame certain individuals for all the problems of their team, which I find a little bit a little bit nauseating to be completely honest. So we'll see where it goes. One last hour now, they're supposed to blame this. Yeah. Well, it's true. Yeah. So no skitter. Yeah. Right. Well, one last one. What about did you see? So we saw Alex Ovechkin, you know, in that in that Putin video, right? And then the PR of Washington came out and said, well, Vetschkin's a Russian citizen who lives in Moscow with his family during the off season. And we'll live there following his retirement. Well, in Russia, he was asked by his country to participate in a video campaign as the longest tenure to athlete in Washington, DC in a pillar of the community. His focus on ours is on the season ahead and the continued impact he makes in the ice and in our city. So basically they just said, well, this is who Alex Ovechkin is. Like, watch, like, yeah, that's who he is. You're doing a video for now. I'm not naive enough because I

know people say, well, the doer off spoke out. Okay. But the doer off also said he can't go back to Russia. And the doer off no offense isn't on the national scale in sports like Ovechkin is. The doer off could go from a lot of people don't know who he is. Lots of non hockey people know who Ovechkin is because he's broke all the records. And spec, you know how it is in Russia. They're cropped this hell. You don't think Putin looks and says, well, getting Ovechkin on my side is worth infinitely more to me than it would be to get his ador off on my side, right? So, but what do you, like, does the NHL need to do something here? Um, you know, where do you, where do you come on on this? It's too late for the NHL on the Alex Ovechkin file, right? He's been this guy forever. And they've never done anything. It's at this point for them to act would be, you know, where you've been here, right? So, you know, so that's my first opinion. The NHL's all the cats on the bag for the NHL. I would say, you know, look at this geopolitically, right? Like this guy plays in Washington. That is

the capital of the United States of America, right? Yeah. President of the United States of America treats Russia as a better friend than he treats Canada. That's not just me being some Trumpator. That's the fact, right? His kid gets married and Russia pays for a whole bunch of the ceremony. That's not me just making opinions. That's a fact that's a reported fact. So, America and Americans, they're pretty warm with Russia. This, this, the fact that the greatest scorer in the Washington capital's history is a Russian, a Putin fan. That's not a big deal in America anymore. Why do we, it's a big deal, maybe in Canada, but it's not America. America's are fine with Russians. The government is, is, you know, some would say, I would say the government is, is takes all their leadership from Russia. They're doing, you know, they're trying to settle the war in Ukraine and they're saying, it's Ukraine's fault. Well, who attacked you? So, don't expect American people to look at

Ovechkin and say, oh boy, he's a bad Russian. They kind of like Russians down there. Do they not? Am I wrong on this? Well, yeah, fair. Yeah, with leadership. Yeah, some, not all, of course, can't love everybody. But yeah, some Russian-friendly country now. Yeah. Yeah. Why not like Ovechkin too? Yeah, that's fair. Right? Spec? Have a good one. We will chat some day one of training camp and more tomorrow on the Gregor Shrub. Yes. Appreciate it, buddy. Have a good one.
