And we're back live during a flex alert. Oh, we're pre-coolin' before 4pm folks. And that's the end of the third. Time to set it back to 78 before 9pm. What a performance by Team California. The power is ours. Therapy's biggest impact doesn't show up in some dramatic breakthrough. It shows up in the smallest moments. You bite your tongue instead of escalating. You put your phone down instead of firing off that text. You say what you actually mean instead of what would hurt someone else the most. Nobody applauds those moments, but they quietly change your life. That's what growing feels like. And that's exactly what growth therapy is here for. Grow is therapy that works, covered by insurance. Sessions average $21 with insurance and some pay as little as $0 depending on their plan. There are no subscriptions, no long-term commitments. You just pay per session. Grow connects you with thousands of high-quality licensed therapists across the US, offering both virtual and in-person sessions, nights and weekends.

You can search by what matters, like insurance, specialty, identity, or availability. And you can book a therapy session in minutes and begin in as little as two days, not the national 48-day average. See if you could pay as little as $0 for therapy in seconds at growtherapy.com slash start now. Growtherapy.com slash start now. Availability and coverage vary by state and insurance plan. For the Emton orders, they're entertaining offensively and while they're entertaining, maybe for the wrong reasons defensively. But let's start with the first 30 minutes of that game. That was one of the more dominant 30 minutes I've seen.

It was eight, like the underscore eight goals in 28 minutes, man. That, I can't remember the last time that happened. I don't think that's ever how I'd have to look up the franchise history. You see, they ever scored eight goals in 28 minutes. Yeah, it was, you know, I would say like everything they shot went in, first of all, you know, like in the first period was four nothing after one. And like it made two fabulous saves you robbed a dry side alone one, somebody else. Trent Frederick, like, yeah, it could easily have been even five now, but whatever everything they shot went in there way better. I think at the halfway point of the game, Vancouver had five shots on that. So you can, you can say the orders were great. You can say that Vancouver didn't show up and you're probably right on both counts. You know, Edmonton came out and said, okay, we're going to play way better than we'd play the other day. Vancouver, I don't know what they were thinking, but they vary. We're even, they were air. So yes, that's good. You know, I wrote today, if one of your biggest problems is we need to play better when

we're up eight to that's not a bad problem to have. You know, but they do need to play better when they're on it. I'll be. Yeah, they, well, you know what those spec the goodness is, they probably won't be up eight to another game this season. It's, it's, it's difficult. Well, you think about it now in the history of the orders, that was the 50 fifth game where they scored at least nine, at least nine goals, right? Like it doesn't happen very often when you consider that they played like over 3000 games. So it's a, it's fairly low. You know, McDavid had five points, Boushard, good. They've had lots of different guys. They've had eight different scorers through two games, which is, which is great. And you've had three lines score goals in two games, right? Like that's outstanding production. Obviously your top guys are killing it. There's no doubt about that. Like Boushard, Boushard has seven points five on five, four goals and three assists. Last year, Evan Boushard had nine goals at five on five the whole year. The year before he had 10, that's his career high.

He already has four goals at five on five. But the crazy thing is every goal that he's been on the ice for, he has a point on. It's not like he's on the ice and the forward score without him. No, no, no. He's been involved in 100% of the goals five on five that he's been on the ice. That's crazy. Yeah. It is a five on five. Yeah. So he's also been on for 12 goals and only two for the other team. Yes. That's an excellent ratio for your 25 minute defenseman. You'll win a lot of games if he keeps that ratio going. So there's a lot of, I mean, there are a lot of good sides. Like you're playing without without, you know, of your top seven forwards, you're playing with all four of them and you're putting up lots of goals. You score five one night, you scored nine the next night. So that's really, really good that everyone's pitching in. The lines are still working. The power play still getting the odd goal. That's all good. You know, now it's all tempered a little because I guess we don't really know how bad Vancouver is.

Let's see this team operating against the next level up, which is Seattle. And then the next level up from there when you go down to play anaheim at San Jose, they're both better in Seattle and LA. So let's see where it goes. We may look back and go, oh, I get it. Vancouver was easy to score against. We may end up saying that next week at this time. Yeah, possibly. Well, thing is spec, there are some guys because high man's out a few weeks. Newton Hopkins out a few weeks. Dickinson's the closest to returning. He's skating, but he still might be a week away. So there's four guys who aren't who are in the roster last night who, you know, in two weeks to a month are going to be here. So that's a lot of time for those guys to win over Mike Babcock and earn themselves a spot. Like we can say preseason short. Well, here's a runway that some of these guys might have never had if it wasn't for injuries. Yeah, it's a huge, huge runway for sure. And you have some of it. I mean, it doesn't matter how well you play.

You know, once all these guys like high man's when he comes back, he's playing Dickinson, Newton Hopkins. So all those guys are coming back in the lineup. Doesn't matter how well the guy on the third or fourth line does matter how well Michael's are some ask your any of those guys are playing. These other guys are coming back. But Latoya, it's, it's, you know, he keeps Babcock after the game keeps bringing up one Michael's and how much he likes his play. You know, there's this kid has made a massive impression like he's played one or two professional hockey games in his life here in the NHL and the coach loves them. So that's, you know, you think he saw that coming when he showed up in the amateur for captain skates this year. You think he thought that he was going to be in the lineup after two games in the coach just going to love him. I bet she didn't think that. So all of that's good. It's all good. It's going to make you better team down the road for sure. Um, you know, Mike Babcock spec he sent a little message. Why I don't know whether it's DJ Smith or Mike Babcock, whoever it was. Um, you know, Jake Walman not long, but did, did miss some time on the back end.

Uh, you know, Mark Madoulins not playing it time. Mark Madoulin, you know, and Walman struggling, but I think what Mark Madoulin struggling more, but he's also a lefty playing the right side. Like it's not the best scenario for him realistically, but I'm, I'm pretty certain that, uh, that Ty Emberson will get it into the lineup tomorrow. Uh, I don't know if stasney, like usually a coach when you bench a guy in game and then after the benching, Walman played a little bit better. Usually then you'll get him another game to come out of it, right? Like I don't expect Walman to be out. Do you know, no, Walman is a veteran on this team that they need, they need Walman. Like in the whole, in the whole scheme of trying to replace Darnel and Erskine's 20 minutes a night, Walman's part of that. They need him to play better. So I think benching, benching a veteran like that is, uh, you know, putting them into press box. That's a major step. You don't do that after two games. Benching them in game for a couple of shifts. Sure. That's fine. And we're back live during a flex alert dialed in on the thermostat.

Oh, we're pre-cooling before 4 p.m. folks. And that's the end of the third time to set it back to 78 for 49 p.m. Clutch move by the home team. What's the game plan from here on out? Laundry? Not today. Diswisher? Side line. What a performance by team California. The power truly is ours. During a flex alert, pre-cool, power down and let's beat the heat together. Therapy's biggest impact doesn't show up in some dramatic breakthrough. It shows up in the smallest moments. You bite your tongue instead of escalating. Granger knows if you're a procurement manager at an industrial manufacturing facility, you're balancing inventory and budget while sourcing critical supplies across the operation. Too much inventory? Cost climb? Too little? Production slows. Granger's $2 billion in on-hand inventory helps you get what you need when you need it. So you can help keep budgets balanced in lines moving.

Like it's, you know, McMadoole isn't that entrenched in this lineup that he was going to play all the games. And as it turned out, it didn't play very well. And it wasn't just a lefty righty thing. He was very soft in front of his net, I thought. Oh, yeah. No, those rebounds that Levi was kicking out which weren't great, the guys getting to them was guys that McMadoole had handled and he didn't. So I got no problem with that. That kid should, like he's just a kid. Emerson's played for this team for two years. He's a good player. And my only worry if I McMadoole and would be Emerson comes in and has three really good games in a row and I'm on a bench for a week or in the press box for a week. So let's see.

The one on the thing, he's going to have to have an awful road trip in California before anyone's going to think about actually not playing him in a game, my opinion. Yeah. Yeah. You know, he's got to get better for sure. And that's okay. That's what the seasons for, right? Like you, you know what? He's not Evan Bouchard. He's not going to play great all year long, right? And I'm sure he does. Yeah. Like he's clearly not a staunch defensive player. He's never going to be Darnell Nerser or Connor Murphy. But he's also not like a 50 point offensive defenseman either. Right. He's not the greatest playmaker that I've ever seen. He's not like a guy that drives your offense. So he's been in a tweeter. Like what do you think Jake? Well, I know he's got a wicked shot. He gets off on some wall and that's good. But what's, you know, what are his strengths? What kind of defenseman do you think he should be? It's a good question. I think he's a guy that's maybe not great at anything.

One thing spec, but like he skates well enough, he shoots the puck. He can chip in offensively. He can be physical, right? He's been willing to block shots. So he should be to me. He should be able to be a number four on your team, right? Pretty solid number four, right? You know, maybe when everything's rolling, maybe number three, what do you think? I feel like his style is that of a number three. Like to me, Murphy's a classic four. And you know, I'm okay with Walmond. Like someone's got a, you know, one thing about Darnell Nerser on that second pair, he was exceptionally good at skating the puck out of trouble. He had that long stride. And when he had the puck in a stick and you were behind him, you weren't getting anywhere near the puck. It wasn't great in the offensive zone as much, but he sure did get it over center for you. And Walmond can do some of that. I don't mind Walmond following the play. I don't mind Walmond taking a drop pass and hammering it because he's got one of the better, you know, behind Bouchard. He's probably got the best clapper in a team. But I guess I'm just asking, you know, like, you know, the better you are defensively,

the more points you get on the blue line, the more we're going to put up with maybe not being as great defensively. That's just how the game works. But he doesn't get that many points offensively. And he's not that strong defensively. So I guess I'm asking you a sort of where does he hang his hat at what part of his game does he hang his hat, right? That's fair question. It's a really fair question. Who would you start in goal tomorrow night and why? I'd start, Jerry, only because nobody, like, leave I didn't play well enough where you say, well, you sure did earn a second straight start, son, and I'll no chance. So you only got two goalies. So it's the other guys turn again. I'm swapping, swapping my goalies to tell someone grabs a reins here. You can't tell me that either guy grabbed the reins in their first try. No, no, not at all. Like and really, you know, got beat on in different ways, right? Yeah, Jerry got beat off the rush and leave I got beat in the zone.

Yeah, some goofy and like I felt for him when after two periods, I was still all in on Devon Levi. Like, you know, he saw five shots first half of the game. He, you know, the second goal, I think, Wom and back way in and Bess are used to him as a screen and went barred down. Well, Bess there's an elite shooter. You give him a wrist shot from 18 feet and he goes barred down. He scores on every goalie. You know, the goal right before the second intermission, right? Wasn't it with one second left? He makes two saves, you know, boom, boom. And the third one goes in. Well, that's not the goalies. No, so I was okay with them after two periods. Then in that, how many went in the third? So that's three. So he let in four more in the third. One of them got punched out of the air. You know, that's just a fluke goal. No one plays that goal. And the guys cross check it. Somebody hit something to glove and goes in. But the rest of the time the puck was sloppy. Like I thought he left puck's lying around. His rebound control was poor.

He got beaten to go on side on the one time in the power play. Didn't love that. So listen, I don't care how we slice and dice up goal by goal. When you let in seven, you can't look in the mirror and say, hey, nice game. You know, and no goalie I've ever met in my life would disagree with that statement. You didn't play well enough if seven went in. Sorry. Time to let the other guy have a crack at it. Yeah, no, I told a whole heartily agree with you on that. And like I thought at times like he's very explosive side to side. And it's sometimes that explosiveness almost turned him because there's two goals. He almost put himself right across the crease out of position. So now I do know like he's been working on changing his game. And it's difficult to do it all the time. He's just going to need a little bit more time and reps. You know, I think it's there. Like I'm not giving up on him because of one game. But yeah, I would go back to Jerry. But I wonder spec if you know, Jerry got some of the Bronx booze at at home.

And so I wonder if the organization because sometimes overthink things is like, well, we'll play Jerry two out of three on the road, but we'll play Levi at home. Maybe. I mean, I don't think anyone reacts to fans until it's got to get a lot worse. You know, that it's been for Jerry. Jerry's, you know, would hurt Jerry's. He has a history here. He wasn't good last year. And the fans all remember Levi has no history here. You know, everyone's waiting for someone to grab the reins. And they're hoping no here comes a new guy. It'll be him and they'll love Anderson too when he finally plays. So, you know, listen, there's only one way that this can work for anybody. This hockey team has to start to give their goalies a proper environment in which they will be successful. Like if we're standing around waiting for one of these guys to come in and just stand in his head and make a million ten bell saves, it's neither of these guys are doing that. They're not, they're not Andre Vasilesky, you know, they could both be good goalies,

but behind a proper environment and the orders haven't even got within a time zone, one of a proper environment for 60 minutes here in either game. So it starts with the team. And then it goes to the goalie. Give Jerry a chance to look good, you know, maybe take out a couple of two on ones and break boys and you might find you got a goalie there. Very true, spec. We'll see what happens. Enjoy the weekend. We will chat with you on Lini. See you Saturday, brother. There you go. That's Mark Spector. The Spector. Guessing is for game shows, not your business. The Spector is for game shows. And we're back live during a flex alert. Oh, we're pre-coolin' before 4 p.m., folks. And at the end of the third, time to set it back to 78 before 9 p.m. What a performance by Team California.
