The Supreme Court has ruled that states can use a controversial citizenship data collection tool for reviewing voter rolls. The Court decided that the government is allowed to use the program known as Save to Check If Voters are citizens. However, the Court made it clear that officials must use the program to check voters one by one as the election approaches. 1:02all at once right before election day. The three liberal justices descended. The new ruling from the Supreme Court overturns a lower court order that blocks the program. A federal judge previously ruled the government broke federal privacy laws by using the data system to run massive checks on state voter rolls. This as President Donald Trump and his Republican allies are mobilizing to send federal election monitors to the polls for the midterms. A powerful nor Easter is strengthening along the northern east coast, bringing wind, rain, and more coastal flooding this weekend. Strong winds are expected to pick up across the region, knocking out power and snapping trees. New York City could get more than two inches of rain, with up to a month's worth of rain expected in eastern Massachusetts, including Boston. That's the sound of waves crashing into the seawalls in that area. Much of the mid-Atlantic from North Carolina to New Jersey has experienced coastal flooding since Wednesday, as the storm pushes ocean water into seaside communities and roads.

2:05Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran's weekend concerts at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts have been canceled because of the weather, as controversy continues to swirl around the tour. Chinese President Xi Jinping is on his way back to Beijing after wrapping up his three-day state visit to the U.S. As he had told him, we're learning that Chinese groups have helped Iran threaten ships in the straight-of-for-move, and launch precision strikes on U.S. military bases in the Middle East. That's according to a series of recent American intelligence assessments described to CNN by four sources. They say the groups provided Iran's satellite images and intelligence support, allowing Iran to strike a U.S.-based in Jordan and July, leaving three American service members dead. The two leaders met on the sidelines at the UN General Assembly in New York this week. The air defense weapons are among the few capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles. But Zelensky says Ukraine is just a fraction of what it needs to fend them off. The White House has not yet confirmed the agreement, which could help Ukraine overcome a global shortage of patriot interceptors. The announcement comes as Russia intensifies its aerial attacks, with Ukrainian officials saying seven civilians were killed and strikes on Kiev Friday. Zelensky also says the U.S. has proposed three-bites hawks with Ukraine and Russia. Something Moscow hasn't agreed to yet. Americans' confidence in the economy felt to its second lowest level on record this month. Consumer sentiment is down 7% between August and September, and 13% lower than this point last year.

5:09That's according to a consumer sentiment index survey by the University of Michigan. The economic mood right now was lower than it was during the COVID-19 recession, the 2008 financial crisis, and even lower than it was in the early 80s amid very high inflation. CNN's Maddie can break down why. First off, they said it high fuel costs, and we know gas has never been as expensive in the month of September as it is now, and diesel is at all time. Highs, the other factor that they said is intensifying trade tensions, and we know the trade war with Canada has really escalated this month. Now, Americans are bracing for even higher inflation ahead. Back in February, before the war started, consumers were penciling in at 3.4% increase in prices over the year ahead. Not terrible. Elevated, but not terrible. But look, now there's been this massive acceleration during the month of September to 4.6%. Now, look, bottom line, it is absolutely true that economic growth has been resilient.

6:11A lot more resilient than people would have imagined. And the stock market is near all time highs. Unemployment is low, but consumers really remain very frustrated, and I think it really all goes back to the main problem that the president promised to solve, and that's the cost of living.
