My name is Jonathan Shields, I come to you live right after a tough and I emphasize the word tough race loss as the race go 0 for 13 with the RR position as it goes to the Red Sox 4-2. And we're going to be here to break it down. If you guys need your name, it's Jonathan Shields. I've been covering the team for over two years now as we go through this playoff push. We will be here after every single game to give you that all post-game analysis. We're going to talk about how the race definitely needs a bounce back tomorrow. How, why this loss is a concern for me.

2:01Again, I'm not panicked. It's my big overreaction, but I'm just going to touch on that. I can see more of what was hit hard and anybody that might think it might be a rotation, peace in October. I think that is put to bed. But first, I mean, we have to talk about the most pressing situation of the race when 0 for 13 with the RR position. This is what you'll be talking about. You don't win games when you go for 13 with the RR position. It speaks to how the race were able to get on base. There are obviously two opportunities in the six and in the ninth where they had bases loaded. And that accounts for a lot of the people that you leave on base. But the race once again took their walks. I mean, if you told me come to the game, Rager source has five walks. I said the race would have won the game. I mean, the RR swap walked the race nine times and the race only accounted for two runs. This is a game that boss and they retired. Their bullpen's gas, you know, they even have Chapman available. They have a late night win last night in Texas.

3:03You come into Tampa late. I mean, this is a game that the race had a game similar like this one, their first game in Texas. And they got hammered by the Rangers. And this was a game where the race should have hammered the RR socks and they didn't. But it's not necessarily around. Let's get to our turning point, which happened at the very end of the game. Time to reveal where the game was once or lost. It's the turning point. There's really two turning points for me. There's the ninth and the sixth setting, both instances where there's bases loaded two minutes, two guys out. And I applaud the fight from the race and then I then need to even have the time run at second from being down three runs. But I look, you have Chandler up and Chandler left. He was part of the problem with running squirmes this new day, which is rare for Chandler. And you know, there's really not a lot one. I saw Chandler up there. I was like, okay, like the race had a really good chance here. Not a lot of guys that pick over Chandler in that spot. But like you couldn't get done, he grounded out, you know, it is what it is. Stuff like that happens. And you know, the race have been so good with running squirmes in scoring position for a majority of the year. You know, games like this happen. And I think they're more of the outlier more than than kind of what's going on. But you know, it's based on I play 162 games like this going to happen.

4:04Doesn't mean that's any less frustrating because it's very frustrating because this is a game that the race should have won in my opinion. But you know, it just caused for a bit bounced back tomorrow. But at the turn point, you know, bases loaded three two two outs in the ninth. You know, you dream about that as a kid growing up and the race couldn't get done. You know, right there, you have that you have the game in your hand right there. And like I said, just couldn't get done. And you know, it's a Chandler price and it's an everyone price. The whole lineup, you know, we got a hit with our score position. Now the race got their two runs via groundouts. You know, one normal ground up in a field or choice. And you know, in the ninth inning, the race went straight through the, the heart of the order and shot up to Boston with their B pole, and they got through it. And now if you're a Boston fan, I mean, you have love how you're set up tomorrow. I mean, you already got the first one of the series and you got your A B open lined up to go tomorrow. So, you know, we'll see that the Yankees are going to win today. They already have like five nothing in the first inning. But that's why you won yesterday, you know, that A O that that that that leads back to four. And for the race tomorrow, it's got to be a little bit of sentia sense of urgency to win that game

5:05because, you know, you don't have Martinez or Raspussen going in the series. You know, you don't got two of your top dogs. So you're going to need jacks. You're in need Prauta who both have been stepping up to continue to step up because the race are going against some tough pictures from the Boston side, painting Tully tomorrow who we'll touch on more later. But man, no big time turning point. I mean, the sixth inning is going to go a little bit by the way side here, but Jake Frail is striking out when he had a three one count in the sixth inning with the bases loaded was equally as brutal. It's a Chandler Simpson ground out and I'm surprised that cash went to him there. I mean, he's had one at bat at the major level in like four months. And, you know, they they went to him there, which for Jake Frail, that for me, that makes me feel good that they still have that trust in me. But man, I got at least put the bat on the ball there as my shame, clean and fat. If you're watching the live or the replay still continues to pop through the stream. But anyway, it's this is a rough one. You know, there's I shouldn't say the race should have won the game. The race had every opportunity handed it to them to win the game and they didn't take it.

6:05They did not take it. But Ian Seymour was hit hard today, you know, over five innings, four earned runs. The home runs are a problem. Like that's why I don't know. It's stuff he gives up so many home runs. He strikes at he's like the he's like the picture version of a of a power hit or nowadays. He's like college were of pitching. He either gives up a home runner or he strikes someone out. And, you know, that was the case once again today. I mean, he gave up two numbers. He struck out five over five. The strike on numbers a little bit down, but seven hits, four earned two, two walks. It's just not going to get it done. And I don't know the update on Shane McLean ahead. I don't even see more so I'm going to start in the playoffs regardless. But what his role is going to be. Interest me a little bit as we head toward as we head toward October. But I it's not going to be as a starter. You know, it might be as a multi-ending bulk in guy and certain spots are in a high-level spot. I don't know the race when you're in a race jersey got to be performed to play at any moment at any level. So we'll see what happens there. But you know, first batter of the game is a homer. You know, Roman Anthony really had his number tonight.

7:06And you know, it's what when you're trying to put together winning streaks like this. And you know, I think that what this division even still being competitive won it speaks to how good the Yankees have been because you know, the raise of just continue continue to route off these wins. I mean, even after this, the razor 33 games over 500, which is just ridiculously good. But you know, it just speaks to the the division lead tomorrow of this time tomorrow might be four. And then at the end of the game tomorrow might be three, you know, we'll see hopefully the the back the debax can hook us up a little bit. But you know, the raises need to play better. And it starts with with being able to hate with Brian's and score position. And they've done that at an elite clip this year. And it's probably the reason why they've been so good. But definitely a little bit concerning with the over 13. You don't see over 13 a lot, man. I'll be interested to see if how many times the race have even gone over 10 or worse this season. I would range or to guess it has not been many times. But we saw a lot more talk about we're going to talk about why this loss concerns me.

Before we get to the concerning part, let us touch on the raise player of the game for good. This is the walk done player of the game. I mentioned in our stance read, but you know, how many times is Casey Leagamina going to have the chance to be player of the game? In a game where the race didn't have to reuse their a bullpen, how it also continues us back to back really strong starts to raise bullpen. That was a whole nice suit. Excuse me. Nice to see Ty Johnson have a have a nice ending as well.

12:12But Casey Leagamina is striking out four or two endings, a saving the a bullpen giving some much needed rest. This one you need those guys at the top of their game going into October. So definitely wanted to show some love to that bullpen who really kept the raise in the game tonight, kept them in the fight. But let's talk about why this loss of a little bit concerning for me. Obviously you can point to the the run into the scoring position. What was in all that, but what was concerning for me is when you raise, in that ALDS of the race plan, assuming that they win a division, you're going to be going up against two of the best starting rotations in baseball, whether it's the Red Sox, whether it's the Yankees, pick your post points and they're both fantastic. And I'm a little bit concerned at the raise of ability to consistently hit a lead pitching. Now, pitching is a lead because a lead pitching is a lead because that means they're extremely hard to hit. But for the race, especially how often, because when you go against the Red Sox and you're going to see Yankees, most guys don't have three or four lead pitchers. The Red Sox have three and the Yankees have four. And that means every single game of the series you're going to face in a lead pitcher.

13:15And can the race say that is, would you consider Griffin Jackson lead starter? Like I wouldn't. You can make the same argument right now if you consider Garek Klonel lead starter. But I'm just saying, guys that have done it before, at that level and that spot. And that's a makes it concerning for me. Again, that's not, it's a broad concern. I doubt the white socks are staying there right now. It's like, man, I love our chances against Camp Schlippler. If we see him twice, we really hit a lead pitching well. There's very few teams, if any, that can say that. But it's so quick when you play a best of five and we saw that in 2021. When you have a team with a hot pitcher, it could just become even faster after that. But I just want to touch on that again. It's not too high of a concern. This game, not that Ranger source, pitched a lead today. But I wouldn't even say he's only a pitcher. He's a really good pitcher. The race are going to face like that. That's the borderline of who the race is going to face come play off time. But let's look ahead to the game tomorrow's the race will face someone that I would consider. A little bit more elite. I would be paid in two leave versus Freddie Perolta.

14:15Obviously, Freddie Perolta is on a tear right now. But paying two leave, we talked about it. He's the only two against the race this season based coming off. Sixth inning scoreless against the Royals and against Baltimore. How about sixth inning? He's won, run 12 strikeouts. So his ERA so far in September is 0.75. Last time I checked that is pretty good. As for the race, Freddie Perolta has only given up two runs over his last four starts. The first inning has been a struggle for him at times. But he pitches really well inside Trumpkin field. I've no reason to doubt that. That won't happen again. Again, monitor Freddie's walks. His Freddie walks are down and he's going to have a good outing. It's as simple as that can't give up the free pass. Got to be in the zone if you're Freddie Perolta. But just need a bounce back tomorrow. You don't want to go into Sunday having to stave off the sweep. And obviously, you don't want to get swept going into New York. This is the toughest part of the race schedule, probably the whole year, you're boss in New York, Philly. And the year I probably just need to win three of those games. And one of those being against Yankees to win the division. You got to win one against Boston. You got to go one out of four against New York. And you got to go one out three against the Philly to win the division.

15:15And let's see Yankees like one out. So that's kind of all it is. So hopefully, I'm confident the race can get that done. But let's scurry over to the comments as we go to Jack Garri says, I don't think a pinch hiter has worked out once this season. Put it in Philly in such a high level of precision. First that bat back was foolish. Technically second. And there was a lot of times pinch hitters have worked this season. So I'm not going to say that. But you know, it's yeah, I don't know about about brought to the draw. Well, it's as Yandee is as cold as ice. It is average down to 93. Yeah, he's he's the second time this year he's gone gone through a major, a major slump as a round of the bike. He says you don't win games, even 12 guys on base. Fresh rain lost wonderful game on the next one. Yeah, so you got to see him. You know, it's the frustrating one, but you know, it's tough. As we go to Gary here, he says a rare retro Friday night loss of the trough for the devil race. They almost pulled it back in the nice coming up just short note, Chapman for the Red Sox who's day day with back tightness. Yeah, you know, I'm good. I'm going to leave in Chapman on the bench all all series against the race as we go

16:16to Gary says, I jump this as the race post season is likely going to come down to the LDS against the Incuse of Red Sox and fine games are less central in the rest of the games that aren't nearly as good as the East teams. And some, yeah, it's unfortunate. You know, it really is. As Don Perez says, when he yond to get back on track, we definitely, definitely need to yond to get back on track as, you know, we'll see. I wonder if Casualt tinker with the lineup, like maybe put Chandler first in yond before then just kind of, you know, tinker with things a little bit. You know, I wouldn't be surprised by that. I think it might be something to worth dabbling in. You know, the thing is like the razor is just facing this just toll of left handed starters. Like Tully is a pain Tully is a is a lefty, you know, Patrick Sandiboy who they're going to face Sunday is a lefty, you know. So I don't know if they want Chandler hitting lead off against the lefty. I don't know if Ronda, if Ronda is going to play in all those games. So, you know, if you go to, if you go to Tully's Tully's splits this year, you know, one thing he's a lot better on the road and lefties are actually hitting better than him against

17:17Rydy. So, you know, expect Cedric Mollens to be in the lineup tomorrow, you know, in a few of these guys. You know, we'll see to me that's what it comes down to. There's going to be a five game series against the Red Sox, the Yankees and everything this whole season, this magical season, the race of hat is unfortunate and come down to five games, three at the top, two on the road and 2021, that's what happened and a lot of race fans still have sour taste in their mouth about that and are rightfully kind of traumatized from that. You know, I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little bit, but you know, raising the position themselves the best way they can to be in that spot. And hopefully the Red Sox and Yankees game goes, the Red Sox and Yankees series goes three games and, you know, every game goes into extra enemies. But, you know, first we keep looking at how we got to take care of business, you know, the the race of a five game is going to be a four game lead by the end of the night and then if you lose tomorrow and the Yankees win, things start to get hairy again. So, you know, we'll see what happens from there. But we're going to wrap it up here again. Everyone, please make sure you leave a liking comment.
