• 2 John 7–9
• It is far easier to be deceived than to discern
• “They must be silenced” (Titus 1:11)

I.  Studying the deceivers and antichrists in Scripture reveals the destructive, pervasive, temporal and eternal consequences of false teaching

• Antichrist errors manifest themselves in various ways: Doctrinally, Morally, Spiritually
• What is false teaching that contradicts the teaching of Christ?
• Immature believers, Repentance

II. We must discern not only false teaching, but false behavior

III. Lessons Learned

• Be careful who you trust, especially if you do not personally know them
• Examine all sides, discern evidence biblically and judge righteously
• The opposing side must be careful to not sin by distorting, misrepresenting, slandering, libel, reviling, etc.
• Do not throw the baby out with the bathwater
• Scripture alone is the ultimate, final, infallible standard of truth
• Necessity of biblical church standards and discipline, especially when a man claims to have some special message or authority from God
• Lookout for warning signs, inconsistencies, patterns, compromise
• People can and will let you down, but God is always Faithful and True
• Must humble ourselves, guard ourselves, our life and doctrine
