1:00Welcome in to my dogs are barking on MPW Digital Presented by Heathrow's Barbecue. You guys welcome to the post game show. Wanted right, went wrong, what was missing from Mississippi State. Against South Carolina, the Bulldogs won 41, 34 tonight in Columbia. In a game where the start could not have been worse for Jeff LeBee, Camario Taylor and Mississippi State. They're down 16 to 0 offensively. Nothing seems to be working. Camario, first pass intercepted. South Carolina and the North seller seem to have no trouble moving the ball. In the first quarter, you're down 13-0, kick of the goal and all of a sudden 16-0. Mississippi State, they're in the last few minutes of the game.

2:01Of the first half made it a little bit closer by scoring 14. But what a response from Camario Taylor and Jeff LeBee and really the defense as well. State's defense was getting worked in the first part of this game mainly because of being on the field so long. The town of possession at one point was 23 minutes and some change to five. State, one of the benefits of Jeff LeBee's offense as we saw tonight is that it is fast and you can score very quick. The issue is if you do not score quick, it's a very fast three-out and your defense is right back on the field. Now it's not a surprise to Jeff LeBee and Zach are not in the rest of the team but it was certainly something that was seen tonight. And something that you had to wonder how was Mississippi State going to be able to respond to this and respond they did. And Mississippi State again wins this game 41-34 but to be honest with you, if you're watching the game, kind of garbage time, South Carolina scores. So it was 41-23 with what five minutes to go. And South Carolina, I mean to their credit, it ends up scoring 11 there real quick.

3:04But Mississippi State looked extremely good from that six minutes left in the second quarter on that they finished the game with 493 yards compared to the South Carolina's 4-34. Camario Taylor threw to eight different wide receivers tonight. 16-26, 251, 4 touchdowns, 1-1 reception, 69% completion percentage, also ranked for 33 yards in tonight's game. So we're going to get to all of it, man. We'll win right, won't win wrong and what was missing for Mississippi State in this game because look, Mississippi State is three and a back-to-back seasons. But you guys remember last season, Mississippi State, they did beat Arizona State there the last second. But other than that, they were not really tested. State goes on the road back-to-back in wins games against Minnesota from the big 10 and South Carolina from the SEC. And now hosts Missouri next week, which at the time of this recording Missouri is is up over, let's see where they play and Troy by seven points.

4:04I think it's 24-17 last time a check. So that's that now, but when tonight against Florida State 50 to 36 and I'm, Alabama's offense looked really, really good, but defensively, they let a lot of things kind of get through. A really, really big game Saturday, but I got to be honest with you, I feel I felt a lot, you know, I think states' chances were, were better to me the upcoming game against Missouri than they, you know, you say this next week, then they were in this game. But I felt, Mississippi State does not match up well, having Dylan Stewart on the outside and look, when he was in the game, he was causing issues for Mississippi States tackles and really the entire offensive line from Mississippi State. But Missouri, I thought was a different story. I just thought, well, state does that. That's one of the reasons why I mentioned, I felt very confident. And I'm sure I'll clip it at some point and put it back out there. But before the season, I mentioned, I feel, I felt very good about Mississippi State starting three and one going into the Alabama game and there'll be three and one or four, no, depending on how Saturday goes. So let's get into a man, what would right, what would wrong for Mississippi State against South Carolina and what was missing as well.

5:08A lot to get into in this game, a lot to kind of go through and unpack. We'll talk about our player of the game for Mississippi State. You know, you can't have a coordinator of the game, I guess, technically, I guess you can do whatever we do whatever we want. But if it was possible, Zacharnets second half was unbelievable. Again, you know, he allowed 11 points there in the last, what was it, five, five, 40 left in the game. And that was it. I mean, other than that, they were, they were shut out in the second half until that mark. And South Carolina made a little bit of a comeback, but Zacharnets ability to adjust, especially with the fact that state's defense had been on the field so long was really impressive to me. I thought, I'm Mario Williams from Mississippi State really, really grew up tonight. I say grew up, he's then grown man, but in turn, he had 10 tackles tonight. He had a sack. He had two tackles for loss overall. Another quarterback hurry. He looked really, really good. The Kelly Jones and Tyler Lockhart also had had some TFL as well as a Jones. But, but, uh, Gerald and Gilbert also had a sack in this game. And then, uh, well, Wittson, well, Wittson had, uh, had three tackles overall, but also one of them was a sack. He also had a quarterback hurry.

6:17Um, Travian, or probably, uh, Travian Williams, you know, Travian Williams, I do want to get to this was injured right now. At the time of this recording, just looks like a lower body injury, but of course he was carted off. And, uh, man, you know, this guy got to say a prayer for because you saw as he was leaving the field, you know, like this is his last year football and God willing, I pray he'll be, you know, all right, able to play again sometime the season. But if not, like, might have played his last down. Um, as a college student, and I, you know, I know these guys are, they're not, they're kids, but they get paid on stuff. That's, that's heavy stuff, man. So, I, you know, obviously we want him to be able to make a recovery, um, because he, he's like the intiminator on for Mississippi State as a captain. He's got to go out has the, the neck roll, the neck pad, looking terrifying. Um, so God bless him. And I hope he's okay. Um, but a lot of things went right for Mississippi State in this game. We're getting into all of them. One would write, one would wrong. What was missing for Mississippi State against South Carolina. 9:47All right, let's get into what went right what went wrong and what was missing for Mississippi state in today's game a lot of a lot of it all, but I'll say this man what went right for Mississippi state. Mississippi state got punched in the mouth in a big way in made it made a comeback and look man, I don't care if it's adversity in life and diversity in sports certainly but whenever you are down and the chips are against you in in this game the crowd was against them the momentum was absolutely against the scoreboard was against them everything was against comarion Taylor and Mississippi state and specifically comarion Taylor found a way to absolutely answer the call. I mean, after missing you know that those first passes. Tomorrow took care of the ball the entire rest of the way and did it with his traditional kind of highlight real stuff that he does but the things that he was doing from a standpoint of making the easy reads in the first couple of throws was really reform he was over he was over shooting the ball he was throwing a million miles an hour he was doing the things he mentioned he wants to clean up.

11:00He mentioned the post game last week and in this game it's like he just kind of settled in and you know I know in some of the Tyler sysky says all the time but like you know freshman quarterback sophomore quarterbacks these guys had not started a ton of football. As much as people don't want it to take time it sometimes it just takes time to do some of those things and for Taylor he does all the big highlight plays well it's the easy stuff honestly that he has it takes him a minute to get going with which I mean I'm sure from a NFL standpoint. That those are those are things coaches dream of because you can do the really really hard stuff it's the easier stuff that we can help you out with just to kind of nail down and Camario clean that up completely in the second half or really starting the later half the second quarter. What what right from Mississippi State is Camario Taylor answered the call after all that was kind of coming against them there in the very in the first quarter all the momentum and look obviously he wasn't looking at the at the you know he was. Not looking at the Internet obviously during that time but like the Internet was so excited that he was not doing well I mean he started this game you think about it started this game two for six.

13:09And then all of a sudden that touchdown pass to San Frisco McGee everything after that was different so two for six right he then went on to complete am I right on this. He went on to complete his next eight passes before Zion Reagan's dropped one there in the third quarter with five minutes left to go unless I'm unless I'm all but I think that is correct you're two for six and all the way to 1115 so come on Taylor did really well responding to moments where he was not doing well. He was sacked a couple times in this game and obviously he had the had the fumble that that state got really lucky on there in the second quarter. Just because there's a penalty up come on Taylor is who everybody talks about that he is in terms of just an incredible athlete a guy who really kind of turns things around. What it may what really really impressed me in this game was his ability to come back after he been knocked down to begin with and here's the reason why that's important when you play against teams like you know Missouri Saturday but when you play against teams like Alabama when you go on the road at LSU on the road at Texas these are really really hard games and you're you better believe you're going to get hit in the mouth pretty early on in that well who is like you don't have to wonder is tomorrow going to be able to respond.

14:30Like he has the ability to do so I think you saw that tonight last week against Minnesota it was really good for from the jump for for him but after Minnesota like after Minnesota you have a tougher opponent you have to come back from being down that's what really impressed me with Camario Taylor he looked so good. I really from six minutes on in the second quarter all the way until the end of the game Camario just looked really really exhausted look like several players had issues with cramps tonight which I mean look that's probably just the air of how things are going but really really well for him again I also mentioned one of the things that went well for Mississippi state went right from Mississippi state is is Zach Rennett's adjustments the defense is ability to get pressure to turn over Mississippi state came into this game with no with zero turnovers they had two receptions on the north sellers. And their ability to get pressure on him really made a big difference and also if you guys remember South Carolina had you know kind of coming into the game they're rushing I think they had four plays at 55 yards or more coming into the game you know they held South Carolina to 149 yards rushing Matt Fuller had 73 yards Lennores had 52 Javari Coleman had 18 only gave him what carries will surprise by that but they average under four yards of carry that's fantastic for a team that rushes the ball really well.

15:50I mean that's that's an outstanding stat to have also you might be wondering what about Nick Harbor in this game Nick Harbor had one catch in this game Matt Fuller the running back was really the only one able to get anything going he had 85 yards and seven catches and a lot of things you were kind of out of the backfield or screen or kind of the tunnel screens so that that was another part that went right another part I want to just make sure I get it to Anthony Evans six catches 55 yards a touchdown and he just looks so good man Zion a record. He only had two catches but he had 61 yards and that really impressive touchdown I've set up a four and I'll say it again whether you're Mississippi State fan or not I think everyone can admit this why would you not want to play in this offense if you're a wide receiver eight different receivers receivers and slash Titans got the got touches tonight and then fluff Bob will Mississippi State you know Camarita there's outstanding water seevers for Mississippi State are outstanding Marquis Johnson at three catches in this game the tight and Sam West San Frisco McGee had the touchdown and had

16:50two catches for 55 yards along with some other guys but fluff Bob will had 21 rush 21 attempts for 115 yards average five and a half yards of carry and had a 43 yard long run but the best thing about it and we wondered about this last week could Mississippi State kind of play with the lead now you know things got a little antsy they're late but state did play with the lead and a lot of it came down to fluff Bob will be able to run the ball and I do think they are going to figure some stuff out. Colin Wilson only had two yards on two rushes tonight JJ Hill obviously did not get any any touches they got to figure out a second guy that can start moving the chains for him Colin Wilson is good to get stuff catching the ball but in terms of running it there were some things that were lacking there for Mississippi State so a huge win for Mississippi State shot to Rick Stansberry as they now moved to 3 and 0 to go host Missouri we will be there next week our next post game show will be in starball next Saturday and then we will be in we'll do our post game show after coming back to coach Lebby's after coach Lebby's post post game press conference so let's move to what went wrong from Mississippi State we mentioned what went right from Mississippi State now let's talk about what went wrong or Mississippi State.

17:59One one wrong from Mississippi State is is kind of kind of clear in this one I think there's two kind of main clear ones Mississippi State especially in the first quarter had a real real issue. At left and right tackle. And I couldn't help but to think as we're seeing their watching like man Jordan seems to make a make a great difference for this team which like he make a great difference for literally any team in America. But state moved steam at left tackle miles from a left tackle. And nothing seemed to be working state at 14 penalties in this game for 98 yards and a part of that was several holding calls. And hands to the face and that kind of thing just state just could not block the defense of ends for. For South Carolina that they really really struggled doing that and. Look like I get it there's a lot of a lot of kind of difficult parts but that could stop him on his really good team defensively but when you really start to think about how.

19:05That's going to be an issue for state now again that they did get better as the game went on and a part of that is just given the bottle of football so he can kind of run it out and get them some other options. But that's one of the parts that makes Camario Taylor so electric is last season when God bless him but when Blake shape and was playing he just did not have this ability. To move out of the pocket like Camario can so Camario can avoid the sack. I mean there's one blood which he needed to avoid this act just picked up 16 yards. That's a great ability to Camario has but you don't you really don't want to have to do that. It felt like the wider seabers were getting open Camario was kind of reading through his progressions and all of sudden the past rush was coming. They have got to clean that up to give them a few more you know give him a second more from the pocket to be able to throw. Mr. States often and look next week against Missouri that might be an issue man against LSU is going to be a massive issue. Texas is going to be a massive issue you got to figure out the left and right tackle situation and they did I didn't notice I mean they brought in Sam West to be able to block well now you kind of heard yourself Sam Sam West was able to get he had some moments in this game where he was really valuable.

20:10He had three catches moved the chains move the ball up on a third and really long to get back into Cal Faris kicking range and he nailed the ball because Sam West caught it. There's a lot of things that that went right in this game but one of the things that went wrong to me is that the left tackles really really put Camario Taylor in difficult positions in this game and look I know some if you were at the end of the first quarter. You could have said alright man this you know what went wrong for Mississippi State that the defense defense is so bad defense is so bad to me it all came down with the defense for with the time of possession they were exhausted in the game again what I was saying 23 minutes compared to five from in time of possession state was going to three now in part because the left tackles and because of Camario Taylor's decision making for sure. But then on top of that they just could not get out the field guys the fact that Mississippi State was not getting beaten 23 to zero in at the end of the first quarter is really that I mean that that is because the defense held South Carolina to field goals and if you remember one of the touchdowns of South Carolina got

21:13would not have happened had they not been called for Jason Jenkins hands the face on the opposite side of the field sorry opposite side of the offensive line because state held them and also gave South Carolina automatic first down. It's just kind of how it happens. What went wrong in this game from Mississippi State the left tackles situation had to be to me that's much much bigger than the defense the defense is was incredibly impressive to me they just they just were my wife was watching with us and she was like why does that guy have an orange shirt on talking about Zacharnette I was like oh they're trying to get out of the game. I was like I was trying to get him to kind of stand out and I was mentioning like hey by the way that guy used to be the defense quarter for Mike Lee's because my wife love love Mike Lee's is always you watch football games because Mike Lee's was there even and she goes I know I know who Zacharnette is and he used to be the head coach for Mississippi State. And I was like look at this woman man this woman knows ball and she literally said see I know ball and she does. But Mississippi State what woman wrong for them in this game is is the offensive line play just did not give enough help to Camario Taylor in the just start the game now again as the game went on the offensive line figured some things out and Camario was able to throw from a clean pocket and look what happened whenever Camario has a clean pocket big things happen so far Mississippi state through three games is at the end of the game.

22:30Mississippi State through three games is averaging 47 year from Army 47 points per game on average that's what they're doing right now through three games against all FBS opponent now is you LM really an FBS opponent. I mean technically yes they are but it's against Minnesota and then on the road both of them are on the road at Minnesota at South Carolina then all of a sudden you're still averaging that many points states going to be able to score almost very next week I believe I really think they're going to be able to score in Alabama Alabama. Give it 36 tonight to a Florida state team that is is not look good and they were at home to bam was at home and I think state has an advantage there but you have to get the pocket part figured out you state in this game had had 18 more play less plays left or less than then South Carolina. 26:24Mississippi state what was missing for the bulldogs what was missing for the bulldogs in this game. Was what they were known for in the first two games and really what they did a good job of from from Jeff levy and that is what was missing was was an opening script and a good starting first drive to start fast I really I was completely wrong on something. I really thought missy state was going to start extremely fast in this game and taking early lead to South Carolina and then kind of see where things go from there I was completely this game was flipped on its head when choir Taylor threw that interception instead Mississippi state had to kind of catch South Carolina as the game went along I was wrong on that I did not see that coming. Mississippi state seemed to have started they've started very very quick in the first two games. That was missing in this one and honestly look when the North sellers had to throw the ball in this game through two interceptions he didn't he did not look great the ball to someone that was not named you know they're running back mat fuller.

27:26The bulldogs did not start fast and instead had to kind of play you know from from the comeback roll and then finally once they got the lead they held on to it was great but like state. Desperately needed to start fast in this game and they're really going to start fast next week and especially two weeks from now whenever you host Alabama in Davis Wade but that was missing in this game that that was one part of the that was missing now look come on through the interception otherwise. You know that that's not necessarily what we're going to be you know dealing with but. There is a real real chance that if if you know Mississippi state is a team that starts fast scores in our opening drive. Especially because of the electricity that that come our Taylor brings you think about next week in starball you start fast against against Missouri you're going to have a real advantage in that game with home crowd. You know I'm supposed to be the the the Cal Bell I don't know what it is some sort of world record for Cal Bells wrong at the same time I can have Cal Bells ringing you need to start fast and I was missing in this game for Mississippi state and yet they still over came in.

28:32Throughout this week we're going to talk about what Mississippi state could do because before the season started I had Mississippi state losing this game this week I pick Mississippi state to win this game I think it was 31 27 something like that. State is able score 40 again and while there was a lot of things that need to be better in this game state made a statement in this game continuing to win there were still people to count them out to lose this game and I'm sure at college you know college game day folks next week when they're talking about Missouri Mississippi state are going to mention they're going to lose that game and if state pulls that off they'll mention they're going to lose the next game is Alabama and if they pull that off they're going to lose the next game is LSU.
