Sitting in the Weldon Rodinburg Co-host chair for the second weekend row, which I greatly appreciate as Weldon makes his way back across the pond. I think he's on a plane now. What a game. There's a lot to get into from this. This was a lot of a fun day for Ole Miss people. This was this was a hell of a football game. And I'll start with this. I thought this game came down to three things. And there's a lot to get into. We'll hit every aspect of it. But this game came down to third downs, where one team was incredible on third downs. And one team wasn't. This game came down to the fact that Ole Miss had turned it out chambles. And LSU did not. And I also thought this game came down to. I'm not really a mortalist when it comes to college sports at all.

5:03But like, if there's any justice in this world, Ole Miss was going to win this football game. Yesterday was a win for rationality. For right versus wrong. And yesterday was a win for like, if you value how to treat people. And I thought those were the three things I took away from this. Yeah. And I mean, that's where the story has to start. We need to get into the game and individual players, of course. Because I mean, Chernodad was, although if I would have told you going into the game, Chernodad's going to have a full quarter where he goes five of twelve and throws an interception. Kiwan Lacey's going to get hurt and miss a half of football. And Karnero's going to miss a field goal. You would have said, oh, they're getting their asses. Yeah, they lost big. This game. But he was exceptional. But besides that, William Eccles had a really good game. Sharif Dinson clearly a difference maker for this Ole Miss team. But so there's a lot there. But you're exactly right. The story has to start with Lane Kiffen. And a lot of coaches, quote unquote, deserve to lose games. Right? I think Davos Sweeney in the Clemson program deserved to lose the LSU game the way

6:06that they did because the failure to adapt and to be so hard headed about where college football is going, you deserve that loss. It didn't happen to him. Clark Lee deserved to lose to NC State. And also Dave Doran deserved to lose to Vanderbilt yesterday. Both of them deserve that loss. But rarely do you get a situation where a coach so deserves the result that happened to him. In a stadium that he said was too small, a program that he said he couldn't win at. And to a bunch of players that refused to follow him. And dude, I mean, there's so much with the Kiffen thing. But I listened to you guys in the post game last night and you were talking about Jeff Landry. And I've got an anecdote on that later. And all the things that come with that. But when we after Lane Kiffen left and we started talking about roster retention, the angle here, like with us on the radio show, and I'm sure you guys talked about it a ton,

7:10was how great of a job Walker Jones and Pete Golding and all that did to sell Ole Miss to these guys. That the donor stepped up. They had a lot of money to play with and, you know, great job retaining the roster from Pete Golding. We didn't talk about it from the other side of things though. And this is something that the LSU media people and LSU fans in general really, really need to think about. They don't talk about it by the way or acknowledge it. They don't talk about it. You have a coach that left for LSU, the bigger brand with more money to play with. The running back didn't want to follow him. The quarterback didn't want to follow him. The best receiver didn't want to follow him. The Caleb Odom who's blossoming into an elite tight end didn't want to follow him. None of the offensive linemen wanted to follow him. Eccles didn't want to follow him. Perkins didn't want to follow him. Franklin didn't want to follow him and on and on and on. This guy left Ole Miss for LSU and all of those people tell you how much bigger and better LSU is

8:15and how much money they have and he got four players to go with him. One of them doesn't play. One of them is a Jagg linebacker, just a guy. That daughter is fine, but he's a Jagg. He's just a guy. And Winston Watkins had what a catch last night in auction. Good player, but his type of receiver is a Doma dozen. I mean, Ole Miss has one trail and rain last night. I mean, did Ole Miss miss Winston Watkins last night? No, not at all. They were never going to miss when he Watkins. I mean, so that's all he got to go with him. Why? And nobody over there is asking why, but that is something that I think the national media didn't do a good enough job of discussing either. Why not? Why didn't any one of those guys want to go with him? And there's a lot of reasons for that, I'm sure. But people that cover that team need to wake up today and think, wait a minute. Why didn't any of those guys want to go with him to LSU? Also, it goes beyond that.

9:15I thought you were going to go a little more into the Landry piece, but you're exactly right. It's incredibly well said. But also, what I was saying that they refused to acknowledge is waking up and realizing this entire process and how this went down was not normal. That way that school is being run right now is not normal. A governor hiring a football coach is not normal. The governor are getting a sitting AD fired and then hand placing his yes man president in there, a empty suit as an AD. And basically Lane Kiffin's boss being the highest ranking politician in the state who all he's trying to do is try to score political points. That has been his entire career. This is the dipshit who when they stopped having Mike the Tiger Laval in the field brought his own Tiger in just to make a stunt. This is the same guy at the beginning of this whole process when they fired Brian Kelly because he wanted to get Scott Woodward fire started talking about the irresponsible spending that LSU is doing and they're not going to pay that amount of money for a football coach. And then what he turned around and do he made Lane Kiffin. I don't know if Lane Kiffin is the highest paid coach in college football, but he's top three 91 million dollar contract directly involved in the process and essentially runs in the school.

10:20And we were all gaslighted and believing no, it's fine. This is normal. They're Louisiana. They're funny. They have good accents and they have cool uniforms and they drink beer. So this is all fine. It's not fine and it's not normal. And so you now have a coach who is a complete narcissist, a sociopath who has the social intellect of someone who's 12 years old answering to a politician who doesn't actually care about any of this. All he wants to do is score political points because he figures if he can fix that wish you football, that'll be good with voters. And he's not actually wrong about that. I'm not even saying that's a bad tactic, but the fact that they like everyone else in that infrastructure has allowed that to happen is completely insane to me. And so the fact that this went down the way it did. And you're right. Why didn't they follow him because Lane Kiffin doesn't develop personal relations with anyone because Lane Kiffin doesn't care about anyone about Lane Kiffin. Jeff, excuse me. Jeff Landry doesn't care about anyone except for Jeff Landry. And those are selfish, narcissistic people that are out for themselves. And that's not really how football and football programs should work.

11:23It's like the greatest team game on earth. You have to have people that care about the people next to you. I'm talking about whether you're a player or a coach. And if you notice Pete Golding last night, when he was talking to Holly Robbe said, I know Keith Carter and Glenn Boyce will have a beer tonight. Why do you think he said that? Do you think that was just out of the blue? Of course not. He said it multiple times in the post game. We have good people here. We hire good people. We have everything we need here. And he kept saying that over and over again. And he didn't say that after they beat Charlotte. And he didn't say that after he beat Louisville. And I'm not saying he should have. But that's not an accident. And they got basically railroaded by this complete maniac of a guy that they kept in line for six years. Who's a good football coach. He's a good town evaluator, a good offensive play caller. But a complete disaster in every other aspect of being a human and running a football program. And they had to sit there for non-months and listen to themselves say they should just take it because they're smaller. And they have less money like you mentioned and they're the smaller brand.

12:23So this is just the way it's supposed to happen. And then they threw it right back at him last night. And I thought Pete Golding repeatedly mentioning the people at Ole Miss and the people who built it the right way was no accident. And he knew exactly what he was doing when he was saying that. And it was, I thought a masterclass in media. Because he sat back and watched like you said every single one of those people and every fan listening to this and all 70,000 that were in the stadium last night. We're told like you said you are lesser. You don't fall out loud. It's too small. You're stadiums too small. You're lesser than everybody. Even though you're winning at a clip that is, I mean, only two programs in the SEC one more. You're winning at that level, but they made it all about it's only one person doing that. That is impossible in the SEC to win at that clip with one person. It is impossible. They Ole Miss built incredible infrastructure. They built rosters. They had money. It's a fan base, a university, an athletic director. Everybody pulling the rope in the same direction.

13:24It's as little as the game day operations. Last night was perfect. And yeah, everybody's got fireworks and lights. It's not just about fireworks and lights. It's about the timing of it. Like picking the right song at the right time, even. Just to keep the energy up and like everybody had fun last night. Not just because of the team on the field and how they played, but Ole Miss has such great alignment. And like you said, on the set of college game day, that for some reason they get all that grove space to spout off their BS for weeks at the end of last season. And to start this season too, kept telling you that you are lesser. That is what everybody around there said. And then yesterday, Ole Miss got to be the bigger people. They got to be the better program. They get in dude. I know he did great things at Ole Miss. I'm not doing the revisionist history. Actually Lane Kiffin sucked. He didn't suck at Ole Miss.

14:24But you even saw during his time at Ole Miss, what will always, always prevent him from being elite. You can put up with stuff when you're recovering from the Hugh Free Sanctions and the Matt Luke era. You're just happy to be competitive again. But he will always stop himself from being what he should be, which is a championship level coach. That's what he should be. That's what his football mind is. Talent evaluation, everything. That's what he should be. But he never will be. And here's why. Because of the way he acted and his program acted just this week. It tells you everything that you need to know between like the same leaven injury thing. And that's funny and it's trolling. And he did that at Ole Miss. But it's unserious. That's just an unserious thing. Neal's column last night. Incredibly well written. But he did that. Ripy, I had five different people tell me yesterday. Yeah, Lane reached out either to me or to my buddy. Exactly. Like what are you doing?

15:25And I don't know. I do not know if this is true or not. So couch, this section of this is rumor. I was told that he reached out to some Ole Miss players this week. I don't know if that's true or not. That's just what somebody told me this week. I don't know if it's true. That matter. But would that surprise you? Of course not. And then you have in the pregame. Somebody told me that he was trying to hit the field goal post. I don't care. He's standing on the 10-year line this week. After his team goes up the tunnel. He's got a camera on him. He knows the camera's on him. Half-member tosses him a football. And he flings it into the field club and hits somebody with it. And even if he's trying to hit the field goal post, that perfectly encapsulates Lane Kiffin. Why in your head do you think not only is that appropriate, but at no point did he think what happens if I miss? You have a head coach on the road that took a football. Buy himself a camera on him. Like it was planned and flung it into the stands and hit somebody.

16:26There's no thought at all of what happens if I, if he was in fact trying to hit the field goal post doesn't matter. What happens if I miss? Just and, you know, I'm being really soft with this. Greg Sanky needs to do something about that. You can't be throwing footballs into the stand as a road head coach. So you have something about this entire thing. And I think that's what they're trying to do with this federal suit, by the way. You have all that going on. And then Kevin Smith going up in the section. So the best running backs the programmer here because of me. And on top of that being just trash and pathetic. And it shows that they're not serious. Okay, but let's let's work that out for a second. Quinch on Judkins left you. He left your program. So brag about that all you want. He left you. And then Kiwan would not follow you. So go up to the student section and yell at them if you like. One of them left you. One of them wouldn't go with you. So it's a completely and totally unsurius thing from him from start to finish.

17:30And he's 51 years old. He's not changing. And I mean, I'm rambling. Sorry, but would Kirby smart ever stay an hour away from his team the night before a game? Would he ever, ever do that? No, would Ryan Day ever do that? No. Those guys win championships. Lane Kiffin never will because he cannot buckle down and be serious enough to do what it takes to win a championship. And you saw that this week. You saw it in his time. It'll miss you can't get away with that. At LSU and they will sour on him so fast. Goofy basketball goal trolling about Sam Levitt. I mean, Niels call him. I promise is making the rounds around LSU media today. They'll wake up to this eventually. He creates his own ceiling. And it's a shame because his ceiling is much higher than it will always be because of his own actions.

18:33It's incredibly well said. And to your point about like when you said at the very beginning of that of Ole Miss getting aligned and yesterday being fun and being a party and like being like Ole Miss down to the details of playing the right song. Lane Kiffin deserves a ton of credit for forcing Ole Miss to get aligned. If Ole Miss wasn't winning football games when NIL became the thing and post COVID and they didn't have a very successful head coach, none of this would have happened. Lane Kiffin deserves a ton of credit for holding Ole Miss's feet to the fire and saying make this a party. I remember after the Georgia State game in 24, Kiffin talked about we built this with some style. We built this with the flair. We built this for this to be a show and for people to want to come to football games. And he deserves a lot of credit for that. And that's one of the things last night included I continue to be amazed by of just how well the in-game production is.

19:59I mean big in terms of being a bigger small person but they made it such a production. And he deserves credit for that. But any other person who came in and turned around any organization to that level and they started doing what you said and gave you everything you wanted and needed would show some sort of gratitude for that and probably want to keep growing and building this thing you built, which is what he did. But instead at every turn he acted like that he fixated on everything he didn't have. All of you listening to this were underneath him. Exactly. He would piss on your head and tell you it's raining and you'll like it because once he's gone this will never happen again. Which yesterday proved is not the case. But anyone who does that and he deserves credit for that would walk to see it through and be like wow this is awesome. Like I think Lane Kiffin very much miscalculated the value of good people in this modern era. And the people that make sound and rational decisions like a get harder a walker Jones a Denson Hollis there's so many other names I'm probably omitting from all of this Glenn voice obviously probably the most obvious one.

21:04But so many other people who were awesome to him and would have been awesome to any other head coach in that position. But again Lane gets credit should get credit for building it that way. But when you do that and then show absolutely no gratitude for the like the current place you exist in and then try to burn it down on the way out. It's just mind boggling self sabotage and to your point while he'll never be the head coach that he should be is because of shit like that. If he really wanted to go to LSU that badly he could have quietly and it would have been a wildly unpopular move saying sorry I want to go to LSU it's the best decision for me and my family and I'm going to quit a playoff team because I'm going to quit. I'm going to quit a playoff team because of it he had gotten roasted but it would not have turned into whatever this became it just wouldn't but talk these book was one of the many things that confirmed this he he not only he can't handle the idea of Ole Miss being successful. So the place he leaves in his ex for the lack of better phrase they have to burn to because that's what self centered immature people do.

22:08And it's just I know I'm rambling to and there's just so much outside the game last night but that's what prevailed yesterday is good people and again I'll go back to to golding mentioning that over and over again that was no accident because golding is a normal person who's got the keys to a really good situation thanks in large part to link if and but golding turns around and thanks man all these people that help me make this happen this is great I have a great situation while the former guy just repeatedly said you're small. You're small you're not good enough and if you constantly chase things in life you don't have you're going to be an eternally miserable human and that doesn't really even just apply to football applies to everything and I think that's what length given is and itself sabotage it is and you know this is going to sound crazy because you know he's in the facility I'm not but he strikes me as a guy that really has no idea truly has no idea what his players think or feel. I mean you remember down the stretch last season he got behind a podium and said he's asked about distractions and he said you guys don't understand you don't understand the players these days they don't care about this stuff they don't care this doesn't bother them they don't care as we learned because they talked publicly as I know you know and deal and chasing everybody listening no privately the players were furious about what went down last season and how it was going down even the one of the four that followed him to LSU was pissed off about the way he was

23:32he acted but LSU offered him a god he raised just to try to stick it to Ole Miss and so they ended up getting him but the players were pissed about that and you saw that in the game last night where after the interception that the defense is running that they're running down field of their all waving at lane they're pointing to wave it at him after the game you watch the video on ESPN after the lane in P handshake Ole Miss players are trying to confront him they're trying to say things to him centarian players are trying to say things to him. Perkins is just kind of smiling at him Jonathan Hess I believe is just like like fight and mad to let him know about how he treated them and remember leading up to the week lane said oh there's no bad blood here and you know it's not like that I think true I think he believes what he said at the towards the end of last season and I think that he believed that he would have been like it would have been fine I really think that he does not think that Ole Miss players think that he is a piece of garbage I've right truly believe that he's not going to be able to do that.

24:32I believe that he was blindsided at the in pregame during the game and at the end of the game that weight these guys he tried to high five Jalen Braxton on what planet do you think that he's going to give one back to you and I mean just totally is just not with it and does not under wear at all not with it at all and I mean that that will cost him down the road in this transactional era of college football you can build rosters that's a hell of a roster that he built super expensive but that's a great roster that he has they're not winning a championship they're not going to it boils down to there's so much more to running a college football program college football programs are large organizations is like being the CEO of a company and there's so much more to that then you know if you're the CEO of a company and you make a good product I guess that may ultimately prevail in the end but I guess my point is is there's just so much more to that and there's a relationship dynamic that he's always going to fail that and there's no helping at this point like you said he's 51 years old and he's never going to change that and I thought last night I watched his press conference in prepping for this last night he actually showed I won't say the contrition is probably not the right term but he was very soft spoken about the emotions of yesterday and I don't believe any of it so please don't mistake this for well actually link if in handle this fun but he was like I'm not sure if he was going to change that.

25:57been handled this fine. But he was like, you know, it was a lot of emotions. He invokes his dad as he always does. I'm not trying to make light of that. But I don't know what that had to do with yesterday. But he brought it up. And then he talked about how a lot of great people here who helped me through some of the hardest years of my life. Like, then why did you try to burn it down and denigrate all them on the way out? That's easy to say now. And maybe he's realizing it. I'm not even saying that's not totally genuine. There could have been some self realization last night that what the hell did I do? Why does it take last night to realize that is probably the, the million dollar question, right? It could have been genuine. It actually sounded fairly genuine. But man, he just can't help himself. And so last time the people, Ripy, man, is still people think that, oh, well, he just left for a better job. Why is it a problem? That's not what I had. It is so buried in the sand when you say things like that. It's not even funny. And I mean, it's not just the vanity fair article. But I don't care that he used a player's grandparent, Eric quotes here, he implied through a published article that Mississippi

26:58is still segregated. That is what he implied while coaching for the Bayou Bengals. I mean, that's the depths of how stupid and then it actually was an off the cuff from market. It's like, bro, that guy embedded with you for multiple days. You knew exactly what you were doing. You knew exactly. But he thought it was going to get received well. And that's what I said at the time. He just got everything because the McAfee show when he, the week he didn't get hired, you talk about thinking things are going to receive well. I thought, I think he genuinely thought that was going to be awesome. And people were going to love that. No, they did not. And I said, so back in early October of last year, Lane Kiffin's Q rating was as high as it's ever been. He was on top of the world. People, wow, look at him. Look, he looks healthy physically. Look, he lost weight. He looks good. His family's there. Isn't that beautiful? He's he's reconnected with himself in his life. And he stayed at Ole Miss and look at what he's built there. Lane Kiffin finally figured it out. And then when he left the way he did, he got ripped for it and did not expect that like you said.

28:06And it's the same thing like with this vanity fair article. He clearly thought that that was going to be received. Well, oh, well, you know what Lane's right, Mississippi's racist place and got to get out of there, man. You got to get out of there. But nobody bought it. I was almost surprised at how the national reaction was. What the hell are you doing? Yeah. That makes no sense at all what you're trying to do here. And it's it's over and over again, just miscalculating and misreading the situation. And I mean, dude, national media all over last night. I talked to a handful of them. And they all were saying similar things that, you know, whether it be through people that they talked to or in some cases laying himself did not expect it to have gone the way that it went this off season. And I don't know if it's recoverable because like you it spirals with somebody like him. And I mean, maybe they get off the mat and beat the hell out of A and M this week. I mean, Marcel Reed stinks out. Wow. I agree. I'm not a Reed guy, but he was really good against him last year and mobile quarterbacks

29:09are break Blake Baker's kryptonite by the way. But it's and look, I'm sure people are kind of sicky hearing about Lane, but I mean, he was the central figure in this story. And at least for one night, the right side of things prevailed. And does it mean that, you know, Ole Miss is going to go with national championships and he's going to get fired after this year. Of course not, but the the chickens are coming home to roost, I think, when it comes to it to his, his actions. And I mean, maybe LSU wins on its own, but if it did, Brian Kelly would have. And so we'll see if he can get serious, but I'm betting against it. We'll get back to Borky in just one second. But before we do, we'll take one more quick break to remind you. He got hurt yesterday and Kiffin made a remark about four season ending injuries already. I don't know if he was referring to green, but if that's the case, that's really going to hurt them, but they're a good roster and they could very well go 10 and two. I guess technically 11. I'm betting I'm betting against 10 and two men. I am two, but it wouldn't totally stun me if we looked up the end of year and that was the case. But last night, and that's probably a good way to segue into the football game. And that was my second point is Ole Miss had turned at Chambers and the other side did not. And I think that was another thing last night that I kept thinking about is I've never been a big believer in Sam Levit. I think you pointed out to me of us to texting back and forth a few times of like he was not very good in that state game last year. And he also looked rattled

33:19and also looked like he didn't want to be there when state when that game was turning and then state scored at the end. And I've just never been a believer in him. And what I think last night that people miscalculate to is Lane Kiffin hit on three quarterbacks in a row. He hit on Matt Carral who inherited, but he made Matt Carral so much better player than he was being utilized before Kiffin got there. He hit on Jackson Dart. And he hit on I'll say Austin Simmons slash training ad because he deserves credit for both. But the third the third era of his time it'll miss at the quarterback position. He missed on this one. He was their third choice set best, right? They wanted source be they want to turn it ad. They wanted to add they wanted to try fourth best choice. That's I didn't even think about the turn it outside. You're right. They wanted source be they wanted to add they wanted to get to Washington. And remember let him given flu to Tennessee will love it was on a visit because he knew like if I don't get this guy, I'm in real trouble here because remember levitt was in baton Rouge when the demon Williams thing. He exactly

34:21and he didn't like it, right? That visit didn't go well. No. So he left without committing. And so yeah, Lane had to go save him. But um, but he that was that was that was a desperate act. And they were on their fourth choice and desperation in my put that I guess to finish that point. He missed on a quarterback. Levitt is not good enough to carry like carry teams when everything doesn't go perfect. He's never proven to be a good pocket north of South passer. He's an incredible athlete. He makes great off platform throws. Hell, I swear to God, if I was coaching them and I don't know enough about football, I would just have the offensive on not block so he can escape the pocket and make the throws he makes off one foot on the run because that's actually the most effective ways of passer. But when he has to be in the pocket and process defenses, he's not very good. And I think they finally missed on a quarterback. And again, that's what he left last night. He knew he could probably get turned at eligible for another year. And he left gambled on that and he now he met his own Frankenstein in Chambers last night. Does some degree?

35:22It is it crazy to say that so Ole Miss fans might think this is unfair. Austin Simmons wasn't ready last year. He would not quite, but also I'm still a Simmons believer. And that was such a small sample size in the eight quarters. He played or seven. So I'm about to be hot take guy. Are you ready? Yeah. I'm ready for it. Austin Simmons looks different under Eli Drinkwoods. He does. Although he's just really talented. And I think they knew what they had. And that's why they you know, they did a decent amount of work to get him in there that early. But he does look different under drink drink with I totally Jackson Darryl here. You ready to really go hot take. Yeah. Look at how much better Jackson Darryl is a processing now. Because dad hears this. He would absolutely love that take. But seriously watch Jackson Darryl operate and think that there's he did not look like that at any point. That Oxford at no point did he look like that. Now that's being hot take guy. But yeah, I mean, they missed on Levit and dude, but the thing is though. So we

36:26should Clark, by the way. I've heard that kids really good. Who? Landon Clark, the backup from Elon. I've heard a lot. I've heard he's really good. Would it shock you if they went to him at some point? Especially if Levit plays poorly this week. Let us you get their second loss. Yeah. Lane's going to panic. But Ole Miss did a really good job. The story's Trinidad. But there was a few breakdowns in the third quarter where Ole Miss had Levit in a bad spot. They had LSU bad spots and missed a tackle or whatever. And he's supremely athletic. So credit needs to go to him for making those plays too. But Ole Miss with that defensive line, at front six really, they got pressure all night long on him. And I mean, that's, you know, talk about money. You've got supposedly the best offense, tackle in America on one side, worth $7 million or whatever. That is a super expensive offensive line. And Ole Miss, I mean, it was, it was echoes. I thought Blake Purchase was much better tonight than he was in week

37:29one. I thought he had a really good night compared to week one. But in what Ole Miss is doing too, they rotate a lot on the defensive line. They've got what seems to be legitimate playable depth on the defensive line that they were missing last season. They couldn't rotate last season like in the Miami game. I mean, how many snaps did those guys play? How many snaps at Eccles and Harris and I mean, that was the problem. Taj A Butler plays a ton. I mean, you, you're a multiple series where Cam Franklin's on the sideline for most of them. And it did, there wasn't, I mean, there was a little bit of a drop off. He's exceptional. But they can do that. And they created pressure all night long on that LSU offensive line. And that disrupts a guy like Levit who doesn't handle that particularly well. But how many quarterbacks can be under that kind of pressure and handle it well, not many. And there's, I mean, so, Mattier's pretty darn good athletically, not throwing the football at all. But he's pretty good athlete. Like, he can escape those kind of things and stuff sometimes. There's, there's one more quarterback on the schedule

38:35that has the athleticism that Levit showed you last night. And he's at the very end of the season. But also, he throws the hell out of the football more, more on that week. The end goal is going to be quarterback porn. Yeah. It's going to be unbelievable. Did I, I said this on the pesky my sweet, did I, did I workshop the take on here when we talked last week about the two best quarterbacks in the sport being in the state of Mississippi? Yeah. Two of the best three in the country, aging, or Mississippi, early returns on that are pretty good. Yeah. But, um, that's the bigger story of the game. And it was both sides. Almost didn't run the football great last night. But again, that's a super expensive defensive line, super expensive. And that's still trying to figure out right tackle. Um, you, you had Lacey get hurt. But they protected really well. And Blake Baker is really aggressive. And yet Trinidad's got some magic in him. But past protection for four quarters was pretty damn good. All things considered,

39:35Ole Miss won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball against LSU in their 50 million dollar roster last night. They did. I thought the offensive on was a tremendous story in this game. I watched, you know, we're recording this early. And I was, obviously, before we start recording, I was telling him a little dragon asked this morning, but I watched two and a half quarters of that game and watched most of the fourth quarter. And I noticed, hose or house played a right tackle for most of the game. But there was a couple of drops where Kinsler was in the game. So I'm not exactly sure what that situation was like, but it didn't, I don't know what that situation stands, I guess, as far as Kinsler's health. They seemed to really like this hose guy. He was going to be the second off, the sixth offensive lineman that they felt pretty comfortable playing. He really kind of, I would say, surpassed Kerry's Kern for that opportunity. But it didn't, to your point, it didn't seem to matter. They protected him really well last night. And Jeffrey had a take on the post game last night that I actually kind of agree with is, and I'm not saying Ole Miss is better without Kiwam Lacey. So please don't mistake that for a take like this. But Lacey goes out of that

40:36game and it, what it was immediately obvious was this was going to be Trinidad with the ball in his hands every single play. And while the margins are thin for that kind of play over the course of the long term of the season, in the short term when he's feeling it like he was last night, that's the most dangerous offensive weapon in the country. And they were almost better just for that situation last night with Lacey going out. I thought JT Lindsey actually played pretty well, but we're not going to run the ball time and just let 6 be a hero for the last 15 to 18 minutes of this game. In small sample sizes, that is the most dynamic potent threat in the country, in my opinion. Without a doubt. But no, no, no, no, no, that's dude. Lane made him. Yeah, exactly. The second, the second lane leaves, he's going to, he's a D2 guy. He showed up that impressive. He arrived on campus, who he is. Now, of course, he's had to evolve a little bit, getting used to playing in the SEC and stuff like that. But his first start, he was basically,

He had an awful third quarter for his standards. I think it was, if I remember correctly, it was five of 12 in an interception in the third quarter. Yes. LSU ties the game and I got a problem with the entire stadium had massive anxiety. I noticed on the broadcast, they called it a nervous energy. I would call that the most understatement of the

44:03century. I'm sure you could sense it last night too. It was, it was anxious in there. And it was just, I got this, boys, I got you and Kiwan Lazy. I don't care. Kiwan Lazy doesn't matter. And that, that you cannot teach. That's just born inherent in you. But also it cannot be overstated too. John David Baker coached a hell of a game last night. Again, journey that was bad in the third quarter. If he hits a couple of those throws early in the third, almost blows LSU out last night. Yeah. And if they don't have the pick where he got hit throwing the football, it's different too. It like wasn't really their fault. It was just one of those weird quarters where like they were crisp and they missed a couple plays and then that couple with a turnover, a bunch of bad shit like like snowball on them after that. Blake Baker is widely considered one of the best defense coordinators in football. You've got a receiving core that you don't have like elite receivers. Doose might be. There's a chance that he is. Dude, his speed and route running and all that is awesome. But it's doose. And then a lot of like Horatio fields is a good SEC

45:06receiver. The game last night played corner last year. Yeah. But the amount of times, knowing that there's no Lacey and knowing that it's Blake Baker. And you've got one of the best defensive backs, supposedly in college football, overall on that side. All four quarters, Ole Miss was scheming guys open. Caleb Odom scheming him open. Ray open. Dude, I mean, it was just it was constant for four quarters. John David Baker skied guys open without a running game against Blake Baker. That that, you know, everybody's excited about Trinidad and you should be because he's the one that had to make the plays. That's John David Baker's. I mean, what an impressive game plan and play calling. And after a bad third quarter, it doesn't matter. They lead the the game when he touchdown drive. He was awesome last night as well. He was and he deserves a lot of credit because the story line after week one of his that lane was going to hang 60 on Ole Miss because they had

46:07a bunch of defensive busts and didn't look good defensively against Louisville. And is this Ole Miss offense actually any good post lane kiffin? And he was masterful last night. You're point about scheming guys open. That was I thought a large part of why Ole Miss was so effective on third down Trinidad was awesome. But there was a third and nine and third and seven on their first drive that that really changed the course of the game. I say the first job. Their second drive or third drive actually when they actually scored the touchdown. The first time they got in the end zone where they had a third and nine and third and seven to where the guy was just scheme to wide the hell open. One of them was Odom. I think the second one was Ray. I'd have to go back and look. But that's like elite level offensive stuff that you came to expect from Wyson kiffin and you wondered could that possibly hold up because Wyson kiffin or two of the best offensive minds in college football forever. You want to say about the rest of it that we've covered. They're really really good. And the idea that Baker could be 95% as good as them was probably a little bit of

47:08wishful thinking from the Ole Miss side. But last night he sure as hell was he was masterful in that game last night. And he scheme guys open on massive downs that drastically altered that game that there were three or four thirds down. I'm going to write about this later day three or four third downs in the second, the first second and third quarters of this game where they scheme guys wide the hell open. And if they don't get it and give the ball back to LSU, we're probably having a much different conversation today. What without a doubt. And then of course the quarterbacks got to go make the plays and the offensive lines got to protect and the receivers got to catch although boy, Horatio almost cost a second in the reception. But yeah, man, it's just wildly impressive what he's what he's able to do. And you know, a lot of people are making stuff about his age. I don't care. This is his second season as an SEC quarterback after playing at Ferris State. It cannot be overstated how unbelievably impressive that that turn it at is. And it transcends play collar. Now what's he going to be without Lane Kiffin himself. He is going to be him because

48:11sometimes man quarterbacks are just the great equalizer. They are most of these teams in the same college. Yeah, man. I mean, it's an oversimplification. But I think most of the SEC is pretty damn similar from a roster perspective. There's tears. But Ole Miss and LSU very similar. Ole Miss and Georgia going to be similar. Texas, although, you know, Texas, especially on the road, that's tough. But all these teams, I think, are very, very similar. And the difference is going to be in the difference last night. One of them had a better quarterback than the other. And it's almost that simple. Tyler Siskie would listen to this and think you're the dumbest freaking person on our thinking football. But generally speaking, it's true. Yeah. And Ole Miss now, I mean, they go to Gainesville. It's tough, really tough place to play. Florida was really good. Gave up some points, though, to not an impressive Auburn offense. That score might be a little full as gold because they were kind of in control of that game. But that's a really difficult place to play. It's going to be freaking nuts on Saturday. Did I make that up last week? Last week, Florida was like a point and a half favorite.

49:19I would imagine that has changed now that Ole Miss is because remember, Ole Miss was the underdog last night. Yeah. So I imagine that has changed. But here, let me see. I've got these. Florida is a point and a half favorite still. But in that moment, in that game, in that spot, you have Trinidad Chameless. And that does not make any game. You should not be scared of any game when that guy is your quarterback. They are not up 17 to nothing last night without Trinidad Chameless. They are probably up. It's one of those weird defensive games where they're probably up six-nothing, nine-nothing. Maybe they get a touchdown in there. But they're not up 17-nothing. And they're not up 24 to seven going into half-thon. It's probably 17-3-17-7-14-3-something like that. That drive he had when they had no timeouts and they actually got a touchdown out of that final drive with the first half instead of a field goal was remarkable because everybody in the stadium. And I'm sure the broad, I heard the broadcast mentioned it too, it was like, you know, run some

50:22clock. They don't have any timeouts. Go get three. Let Carnero have a chance at a kick. And Trinidad was like, no, we're actually going to go in the end zone with about 18 seconds to spare. It was remarkable. He was, he was elite last night. And that really gets into a conversation of last year. He was the best story in college football. I went back yesterday and read a column. I wrote the Sunday after his first start against Tulane. And I commended him for how well he played. But mentioned that they'll probably go back to Austin Simmons because there's just simply throws that Simmons can make that Trinidad can't. I wrote that last year after his first start. What an idiot. I am like, how pork is that take age? Because there's not a throw he can't make. And he's unbelievable. And I think back to last year, I remember me and Weldon were like, this guy has a sick name. They say they're going to have a package for him. But even in the preseason last year, they kept calling him a gamer. A guy that's just always ready for the moment. And then we're probably going to use him in some packages because he just always seems to be up to whatever task we give him.

51:23And now you're seeing that on a superstar level. That's just what he is. He is up for the moment. And you said earlier, you can't coach something like that. And it's very rare to find someone that has that that when it's Thai game and the entire stadium's nervous and they don't have Kiwan Lacey to where he's like, Oh, no, actually, I'm about to go put together the best travel of the game. You can't coach that. It's rare to have found. And I have to wonder if today of Lane Kivins like, shit, I should have stuck it out for one more year of that. Seriously. And that's the thing too is imagine seeing him. And you saw some Elaine's facial expressions last night, which like, I can't believe this guy did that. Well, you should be able to believe that guy did that. I know everybody knows you were watching the sugar bull. You weren't going to reference the Miami game in his post game press conference. But man, but that goes back to the original point, the thing that we started with though, he just assumed that he was going with him. And you had LSU media. Kiwan's tied to Kevin Smith.

52:26Trinidad is tied to Lane Kivins. And he clearly did not understand the human being that is Trinidad. If you all haven't watched it, go watch Trinidad's post game press conference last night. Yeah. And he's talking about how he wanted to win that game for Ole Miss. And he wouldn't talk about the team. He was not talking about the team when he said that. He meant you listening. He meant you guys. He's saying everyone doubts Ole Miss and he's talking about the institution. Yeah. And he talked about, you know, well, LSU's got the money. They've got the brand. And I wanted it. I wanted to win that game so everybody could see what Ole Miss like, and I'm paraphrasing. But go listen to that. Go watch his quote that that his former coach did not understand what made him tick. And his current coach does. And regardless of how this season ends or how his career ends, having a guy like him, understand you guys after such a short period of time being here is incredible. Because again, we hear all the time, right? We hear all the time.

53:30Players don't care. They're all mercenaries, whatever. That dude is not a mercenary. That is a thoughtful, articulate of course, but that is a thoughtful young man that understands how, how, what am I trying to say here? He understands it's not just a football team. Exactly. It's, I think what you're trying to say is, and I thought about this last night is, he is a D2 kid that finally got an opportunity to play at the division one level. And yes, Charlie, Wyce, Jr. and Lane Kiffin directly were the most responsible for giving him that opportunity. But he realizes what Kiffin doesn't. And it goes back to what we were talking about at the beginning of the show. It's everyone. It's the AD. It's the, the, the, the support staff. It's the collective. It's everything that allows Ole Miss to be successful. And it's the place. He shows gratitude for

54:30that. I know he know in the back of his mind knows that Lane Kiffin and Charlie, Wyce, Jr. were most directly responsible for giving this opportunity. But they're not the only two people involved in the process and involved in his success. And he appreciates that. He appreciates Ole Miss as a football program in an institution and a place that has treated him well and a place that he seems to really like living in. And that's what his former head coach never understood. That's what he appreciates. And I think that is the difference. So all of you guys need to go watch that. It was awesome. It was absolutely awesome. His mom, getting onto him for a cousin, he was a college. He also apologized like he just got into D. U.I. He said that's not who I am as a person. I was like, oh, you dropped an F. It's not that big of a deal. Well, and of course you have the Twitter who would he so claseless. I thought that was you. You know nothing about class. If you think Trinidad Chamblis is lacking in class. When I saw that, I was like, man, he must be really keyed up for God like that to cost

55:30on national television. I just, I thought it was really funny, but Ole Miss played a hell of a game outside. And there's so many, there's so many important pieces from that game. Traylon Ray was a really good one. I didn't know the story about how they put him in the secondary last year because they kind of needed more guys. I didn't know that actually happened. And Golding said after the game that Ray was like, I really like Ole Miss. Another guy that appreciates this place, by the way, and says, I want to come back, but I hate being a corner. Can I please be a receiver? And Gold, they made it work and Baker liked him. He became a receiver. But that's another guy who came there from West Virginia and wasn't just like, I'm going to follow, I don't even know, he had the opportunity to follow, but I'm going to go do something. They all did. This was just a spot for me. He, they mean Golding said that. Again, I think it was no accident. He said, Traylon came to me in the off season, said, I love Ole Miss. I would love to come back here, but I just hate corner. I don't like the job I'm currently having to do. I'm a receiver, and that's what you'll regret it me to do. But again, it's another guy that showed appreciation for this place. And again, it's so much more than just that. And that's why last night was so much more

56:31than a football game. And you know, I talked about this last week. And this is probably a good way to wrap some of the big picture stuff is I told you last week, I'd be glad when September 20th or off, which is when we're recording this and this circus would be over. I still feel that way. I'm so glad that we're about to have non-fairly normal games that are going to be really compelling and fun to cover. And Pete in some role, like, you know, John's kind of doing this thing in game week where he's like, if you're with them, you're not like, he's kind of doing all that. But I think when you have a respect off between the two coaches, it is legit and real. John Summeral, like, he really likes and respects Ole Miss, like, publicly when he talks about it. And privately, I'm sure as you've heard, there was a time last year where John Summeral would have been the next head coach at Ole Miss had things fallen differently. I mean, he like it. Like, if it allowed for a timeline for a normal head coaching search to happen, is what is what it really comes down to? Yeah. Or if Ole Miss like loses four games, you know, that kind of thing. But so you're going to get a normal game week this week. It'll be nice.

57:34But one thing we haven't really mentioned, I want to circle back to if that's okay, because it sounds like absolutely away from the game. Defensively, it wasn't perfect. They missed some tackles and things like that. Against a Charlie-Wise junior offense. Another sidebar. Lane Kiffin didn't have a play sheet in his hands last night. He had nothing. I looked because remember, I'd Ole Miss, he always had some kind of play sheet and he would have veto power and he would whistle and he would, he did not have a play sheet last night. He had nothing in his hands the entire game, nothing. Go back and watch some of the videos. He has nothing. So I guess that was Charlie's game and Charlie's game only, which is probably frankly what's best because of how distracted he was. But anyway, that's a Charlie-Wise junior scheme dolphins. You know that he can get guys open and he can create explosive plays. And if there is a weakness that you have, he can exploit it. For all, everything that everybody thinks about Charlie, although by the way, when Kevin Smith was yelling at the Ole Miss student section, Charlie was visiting with some people on the Ole Miss Afford and recognized and they prayed together on the field. What a great contrast. I wish there's

58:39a photo of both of those things happening at once. Seriously. But you know he can scheme guys open. You know that he saw on film that the Ole Miss secondary can't communicate and he could not exploit it last night. Aguero, I thought, did some really nice things. Edwin Joseph did some nice things last night. He struggled in the first two games. Denson's clearly a difference maker. I mean, look, you're going to give up passing plays sometimes in football in general. But that defense gave up 24 points and seven of them came off of an interception on a short field. There were no that I noticed anyway. No real coverage bus. There were drops and things. But there was not a miscommunication where some guys flying 50 yards down the field and nobody's around him. That did not happen last night. They kept everything in front of them and they did not make the egregious mistake. And that's against a Charlie-wise junior coached offense. And you saw last night that Levitt not only Levitt missed a crucial third down throw in the second quarter. He missed a crucial throw in the in zone toward the end of the game where the backup tied in.

59:40Maybe try to trade as green catches that, but it's not a great throw and it leads to the fourth down. And if like I wrote about it all week, if you just don't give him the freebies, I don't think he's actually good enough to beat you. And that proved to be so true last night. I think that's the most like cut and dry true thing from the game last night. You make an interesting point about the secondary. I thought the most interesting thing that came out of last night's post game press conference was they mentioned that Pete Golding mentioned that so they moved Joseph to corner. And I'll have to go back and watch this closer, but my guess is it would be slot in nickel corner. I kind of noticed it last night, which is more of what he played at Florida. And Sharif Dinson, the safety that Golding called their bell cow and that dude in the off season came back to play safety. He also called Joseph the most talented guy they have back there in the secondary, but also called Sharif Dinson their guy. And I just wonder I'm not a great on the X's and O's piece of it, but Dinson coming back to play safety and then moving Joseph to like slot corner

1:00:43or whatever he ended up playing. Is that the piece that actually makes this secondary makes sense? Because I think they have talent back there. And I was just never going to buy into the idea that they just sucked on on on on defense as a whole, but also the secondary because they they went out and spent a lot of money and got a lot of talent there. And I just wonder with Sharif Dinson back, was that actually the piece that made this whole puzzle make sense? Because like you said, they didn't have those bus last night where you saw in the first two games where it was like, what are they doing? And God's pointing at each other. I just wonder was that the piece that actually made everything make sense? Oh, there is a moment too. So LSU had a pre snap penalty. I think it was a false start. And they ended up running the play because they couldn't hear the whistles. And I think it was a Guero that that made a mistake and the ball was caught. And Sharif runs over to him and he's like getting after his ass like yelling at him. And it was and I thought in that moment, maybe that like you're saying, is that your quarterback on defense? That's your alpha back there because I mean, the where where I started at Georgia, he's a veteran player and he played

1:01:47well last night, but even in a pre snap penalty, LSU caught the ball underneath in front of a Guero in Dinson. I mean, it wasn't ugly like they pat each other on the helmet after, but he ran up to him and got in his face. It was like you like was getting on him. And so having gots point at each other. Maybe that's the guy that's like, I am the judge and jury here. Like this is in the alpha. Like you said, that's the guy who makes shit run. That's interesting. I didn't notice that last night. That's yeah, I wish I remembered the exact spots. You can find it if the game broadcast showed it, but it I mean, it almost was like I communicated to you and you didn't get it. Like there was like an alpha thing there with Dinson, but he missed, he missed one tackle that he should have made, but clearly a difference maker in that defense. They're going for two. As someone who was just watching in the stadium as a average J last night, I was sitting there thinking, are these guys on drugs? I thought that was one of the craziest things I've ever actually seen in a major college football game, but it turned out to be a head coaching chess match because apparently it was a

1:02:49thing they'd practice and they hope they could get I wish you to jump off sides. And Golding talked about in the post game where he was basically like, yeah, we practiced that all week. And if you can get him to jump a lot of times, you're bringing a lot of heavy people like heavy, I'm butchering the quote, but heavy set people in the field for field goal block. And if you can get them in that, they either have to burn a time out or they jump off sides and they make a mistake. And he's like, if they make a mistake and all of a sudden it's put at the one and a half yard line, well, now all of a sudden, all you have to do is get four and a half feet or five feet. And he was like, if we don't, if we can't get five feet, we can't, we don't deserve to win the football game. With that said, though, in the moment when they didn't bring the field goal unit out to kick the extra point after they scored, I thought they were all on drugs. What did you make of that? I thought that was one of the lot of things I've ever seen. So I think that was my, my initial reaction was, whoa, what are they doing? And then, and then you think about it for a second. And it's like, there's still a lot of time left. And if LSU does score, you have one of the best kickers in college football, although he missed one last night too, but all you got to do is get to the 41 yard line.

1:03:55And you got a shot, right? So if you don't get it, you still have enough time to get the ball back and try to go kick a field goal. But if you do get it, as you guys said last night, you got a score twice. I think Jeffrey said it. It's not eight points. It's not a one score game. It's a two-score game. You have to score twice. And that puts so much pressure on LSU in that possession. And I was a little surprised. Frankly, that lane was, or I guess, Charlie, because lane didn't have a play sheet, but they were so willing to let the clock run out. They were so willing to just, they were going to let that be the last, the last stand or the last run. I was surprised by that. But the most impressive part about that though, Rippy is there was no hesitation. And he's coached against five ranked teams, four of them in the top 10. But that was his sixth game as a head coach. And there, that was, that was premeditated. That was, if we score here, that's exactly what we're doing. There was not hesitation. There was nothing. The field goal team didn't go on the sidelines. And he had to sit there and think about it. It was touchdown. All right. Go for two. Now,

1:04:58no hesitation. And as a rookie head coach in his sixth game to have the, the self confidence to be able to not play it safe in a spot like that in a game like that. That's, that speaks a lot to, to Pete Golding and who he can be as a head coach. Because, dude, there are not many first time head coaches that would have done that in that spot. Of course. No, absolutely not. And you're right about it feeling different. I thought the broadcast did a good job of capturing that. If it was 32, 24 and, and Chris Fowler, like mentioned a couple of times, it just feels a little different as eight versus seven. And maybe that's, it was some gamesmanship to, to get into the other side's head and make them speed up. And maybe not think it's the last drop of the game, which they ultimately succumbed to accepting that they were either going to score there and get the two point conversion and go to overtime or that was just it. I read an interesting take from Tom for an Ellie that I'm not even sure I totally believe I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but it made me think which I always enjoy. He said they went for that because they knew that

1:05:59Kiffin was going to go for two on the other side had that like say 31, 24 if they kicked it. And that was you scored a tied up or could have tied it up. He they knew that Kiffin was going to go for two. What do you make of that? I'm not, do you think he would have had the balls to do that? I think he would have rather gone to overtime because I think he, I think he thought he had the better team. But it made me think. I thought that was an interesting way to think about it. Is the Ole Miss went for two because they do it. That doesn't make sense though. Yeah, it does. No, it does. It was very interesting. I don't know if I totally buy it. But then you mentioned the ball ziness of it for a guy who's in his six game as a head coach. If they don't get that and they lose 31 30, we were spending an disinterval test crushing an inexperienced head coach for doing something in hindsight that would look very boneheaded. I mean, it was, you know, he talked about that's the, I guess that's the definition of ball z. I mean, that that was nice. But that's why that's that's why you're in the position that you're in to make decisions like that in games like that. I mean, it's that there's a reason that

1:06:59and he's he's underpaid not the right word, but it's not like he's the highest paid coach in the SEC. Let's see here. So he makes sense underrated as a head coach. We people throw around that word a lot. I think that's what what you could call Pete Golding. They ask like he's just some schmuck that fell into the job. Of course, not ridiculous. But that's why he gets paid almost a thousand dollars an hour every hour of every day of all year long. There's a reason that that's what his income is to go make a decision like that and go win a game like that in the way that he did. He makes 19,000 dollars a day every day of the year. That makes you feel very sad. This podcast is doing well, but not that well. Let's take a look around the SEC for let you get out of here and go watch the Saints. It was an interesting day in the SEC and it was a day yesterday. I didn't get to watch a ton of football because of just going to the grove and doing the whole experience with with the game yesterday. I want to start with Kentucky versus A&M. I think Will Ston's a great

1:07:59coach. I thought last week it was like maybe they don't have the talent to compete in year one, but I was a big believer in him and look how organs looked and see left. They went into college station one. How did that happen? And it wasn't even that close. It was like 28, seven entering the fourth. Yeah. A&M scored 14, fourth quarter points. And nuts. I mean, dude, Rippy, Rippy, uh, Minshee completed 14 passes for 252 yards. He had 14 yards per pass attempt, not per completion per pass attempt in the game. Uh, that, that offense, man, I'm a buyer of, of Will Stein stocking. Big buyer. He, I mean, he's young, but obviously runs great offense. Um, he'll be a good motivator. He's going to recruit well. And obviously, especially after last week, when they played Alabama tough for two quarters and just ran out of athletes to turn around and do that to A&M who almost cannot run out of athletes is wildly impressive. But this is going to sound unfair. Yesterday was more about A&M and Marso Reed than it was Will Stein.

1:09:06I've never been a big Marso Reed guy to be honest. They played in a very light schedule last year and they faced a real defense in Texas at the end of the year and lost. And then they faced another real defense in the bowl game and lost. And I just, I'm not a huge believer. Although with that said, he, he was really good against so a she last year, bad LSU team. And I'm very curious to see how that matchup turns out next week. Oh cool. He can run, man. He, he can run and that could be the breakdown, especially when, look, I, I like Whitwick's a lot as a player. I think his sideline to sideline speeds pretty awesome for, for just, you know, a middle linebacker that can make plays on the edge. But there's a reason that we spent the offseason talking about how Ole Miss upgraded at linebacker because they did. And I think that that's an area that a guy and athlete like Marso Reed can exploit if he's given the opportunity to get to that level. Oklahoma, safe to say the offense is the problem. I will say in Mexico that Jason at guy,

1:10:07they're turned them in from one of the worst programs to like a non-win team last year. It's a very underrated story in the group of six. But they want he's coaching a power program next year. Yeah, 100%. They beat Oklahoma beat in New Mexico at 14 to six. I would say that offense might be an issue. It wasn't great last year when they made the playoff. Most of their base level stats were in the 80s, but their defense was so sick and they deserve immense amount of credit for going on the road and beating Alabama and Tennessee and back to back weeks to getting there. But it wasn't because the offense is very good. I think that game looks a lot softer and a lot more palatable for Ole Miss today. Oklahoma ran for 1.9 yards per carry. 1.9 yards per carry. Against New Mexico. They've got to go to Georgia this week and then Texas. They've got to go to Mississippi State, which now, I mean, holy shit. Then they go to Gainesville before they host Ole Miss. There is a world in which I mean, look, they play Kentucky at home. Is that a game that? And states going to beat them by the way. I'll plant my flag on that one now,

1:11:10especially in Starkville. So that they've already got one loss. So two, three, four, they could have five or six losses. And that's giving them wins that you might not want to give them by the time Ole Miss shows up to Norman. And that's in this transactional area when you see teams kind of mail it in. Like when you get them that late in the year and there's nothing to play for, I'm not saying that will end up being the case. But that that certainly could happen. Mizzou wins 27, 17 against Troy. I watched the zero snaps of this game. Won't pretend to have pined on it. But to me, just looking at the score and the base level numbers is a classic case of it's very hard to get guys up in this moderate era for games like that. I think that may be a fair assessment of that. What do you think? Yeah. Goose Crowder for Troy. That's the quarterback. That's a hell of a name. I love that. But dude Austin Simmons, 10 of 1991 yards. Is that though like the Vandy game? But for the 2021 egg bowl, you know what I mean? I know it's not a Kiffin coach team, but like that's what I mean. Is that one of those deals?

1:12:11Yeah, probably, but yikes, man. I mean, that's that's not a good, I mean, they're in stockful this weekend. That's going to be a fun one. Yeah, that's that's not a good look going into that game. And remember last time they were there, Eli Drinkwoods, the state fans haven't forgotten. So Missouri's winning by 19, I think. And it's in the fourth quarter. And Drinkwoods, it got caught on the hot mic on the broadcast. I remember this state. State players are yelling at his or something. And he goes on the field and says, if you all don't shut up, I'm going to go score again. Like if you don't shut the F up, I'm about to go start again. I thought it was actually kind of funny. It was awesome. But you know, the the fans there. And state might sell out their first games since I think 2018 was their last real full sell out, I think, where they actually sold every single ticket to the stadium. I think it's 2018. They might change that this weekend. Missouri doesn't realize what they're walking into. They better sell that out one and they deserve a moment like this. It's been a few brutal years.

1:13:13And Levy, we've always talked about this. Levy's not a dope. And when he gets comparable talent on both sides of the football, I always thought there was a world where he could be a successful head coach. And now he has recruited a generational quarterback. And he's already good offensive mind. And just the base level of defense that they'll have this year compared to Coleman Hutts sort of last year is just going to be so much better. Like if they actually had top in defensive talent, I bet this is a team that's going to make the playoffs that we didn't think about this year. I don't think they're there yet because of that. But there are a couple top in defensive pieces away from being like, holy shit, they could actually make the playoff. And I feel like you saw that yesterday, I caught a decent bit of this game. They're down 23 to 14 and a half time. And then they pitch a shutout in the third quarter. Camario Taylor does what he does and state took control of that football game. That's a massive win for that program. You mentioned being wait and see on the defense. I feel like the second half kind of proved that like they're going to be okay. They're not going to be great. But okay, Svon in your, in your one of real Camario Taylor.

1:14:13I know he played last year. They're, they're going to be dangerous for everybody they play. And I'm I'm buying a ton of stock in the state right now. And you should, I still wonder about them defensively a little bit. They they have not been tested yet. And I mean, they gave up 34 points to a South Carolina team. I mean, sellers through for 282 yards on that Mississippi state defense. And he is not anywhere close to the best quarterback that they'll face. So I think they're going to have to win some shootouts. I don't, I mean, they got Kelly Jones who's a freak and he's awesome. I still think personal wise and spots defensively. They're, they're lacking still. So they're going to have to win some shootouts. But they've got the offense and the scheme that can go win shootouts. They're, they're capable of that. They definitely are. And they're going to be a very exciting team of nothing else. Vanderbilt beats NC State. I did you watch this game? I didn't, I didn't watch a snap. I only saw the videos at the end. And it's the dumbest way to lose football game in the history of football. So can you walk me through this? Because our, our,

1:15:16where I was standing at the time, turned it on right after Vanderbilt scored. And we thought of his an offensive play. So we didn't understand what the hell is going on. But essentially what happened is that NC State could have kneeled it in the Inza and for safety. They could have thrown out the back of the Inza and they could have thrown at 55 yards down the field in absence of pick six. They could have won the football game and they fumbled it and lost. Is that, is that what I'm understanding? That's exactly what happened. CJ Bailey took the snap. I mean, he's in his own end zone. But just taking a knee would have been okay. Because then you kick it away. And Vanderbilt has to do, you know, a pitchy, pitchy, woo, or whatever they call it. Yeah. If pitchy, pitchy, woo, is what then, then Pellet calls it. But yeah, that's his thing. That, that should have been the worst case scenario for NC State. You accidentally need it down with one second left on the clock and you have to do a free kick away to Vanderbilt. And they have to do all that to try to win the game. And, and he just holds on to it too long and the ball gets

1:16:17stripped and Vanderbilt dives on it and they win. That was the only thing that would have given Vanderbilt the win and the only thing that a quarterback cannot do. And there is no reason for him to hold on to the ball that long. He could have just taken the snap turn around and thrown it out of the back of the Inza and seriously. And they were people like Giffin did and it had been fine. But that is, that is simply, I mean, that's bad coaching too though. Players have to do things and maybe Dave Doran did tell him to do that. But that's still bad coaching to have a player that thinks that that is an option for him. You obviously did something wrong. That's the worst way to lose a game I've seen since that Michigan, Michigan State thing where the Punder fumbles the ball and Michigan State runs in on the last play of the game. Florida Auburn, I didn't watch much of this game because it was at the same time the Ole Miss game. But it seems like a Florida controlled this game. I like Goliath. I think he might be a pretty good head coach.

1:17:17Don't like him and you're one thing they brought way too many offensive players over in particular from USF. And this score seems a little deceiving. It seems like Florida controlled this game and it was just close at the end. Kind of felt that way anyway. But I'm still I'm curious though about Filo. I think he'll be good with time. Ole Miss has got their hands full with ball. That dude's a stud. But man, regardless of what the score was, Byron Brown is not a particularly elite thrower of the football by any stretch of the imagination. And he had success yesterday. Now I was trying to watch that game in the press box while also trying to do all the other stuff. But I came away from that game thinking, turn it at in the Ole Miss offense, should be able to move the football in score. It's just whether or not they can stop the run and things like that.
