About this episode

“This is Steve Kovino from Kovino and Rich. You got a belly in a little chest, gassed by the afternoon, no drive left in the tank. You lack that confidence and mental edge. Those are classic signs that your testosterone's been sliding.”From the transcript
Ted Waitt told the House Oversight Committee that he met Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein at a Hong Kong dinner in November 2003 and began dating Maxwell the following year, remaining in a relationship with her until September 2010. Waitt portrayed his own contact with Epstein as extremely limited, saying he had only a brief introduction at the dinner, one arranged meeting at Maxwell’s New York residence and two later chance encounters. He said he never communicated with Epstein by phone or email and had no business or financial relationship with him. Waitt testified that Maxwell described Epstein positively as a brilliant investor and money manager and told him that, after their romantic relationship ended, she continued working as an estate manager overseeing his properties and staff.

Waitt said he wanted Maxwell to stop working for Epstein because Epstein was her former boyfriend, but claimed he had no knowledge at the time of their criminal conduct and never witnessed abuse, coercion or trafficking. He repeatedly said he could not confirm how much work Maxwell continued doing for Epstein while they dated, despite their seven-year relationship, and he denied knowing whether Epstein manipulated or abused her. Waitt also acknowledged that Maxwell had been around his four children, three of whom were girls, and said that had he known then what he knows now, he never would have befriended her or allowed her near them. His testimony largely presented him as someone who was intimately involved with Maxwell for years while remaining unaware of the reality of her relationship with Epstein and the crimes for which she was later convicted.

What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode, we're going to keep the congressional transcript party going and we're going to start taking a look at the transcript from the interview with Ted Wade. And like usual, we're going to skip the whole swearing in part and get right to Mr. Wade and his opening statement. Mr. Wade, good morning, members of the committee and staff.

My name is Ted Wade. I was born and raised in Suiciti, Iowa, the son of a fourth-generation cattleman. While I did not follow my family into the cattle business, my own career began on my family's ranch. In 1985, I co-founded the personal computer company Gateway and the empty upper floor of a farmhouse on my father's ranch. 20 years later, I retired from Gateway, and since then, I've been fortunate to focus my energy and resources on philanthropy and the causes nearest to my heart. Chief among those are violence and prevention and ocean conservation. In 2005, my sister and I founded the Wade Institute for Violence Prevention, Building on the Work the Foundation had been doing since 1993. The Institute is focused on combating violence against women, preventing bullying, and breaking the cycle of violence that exists in our homes, schools, and communities. At its core, our work is about disrupting the social norms that accept violence as part of life.

That's why I believe your current inquiry into Jeffrey Epstein and Golan Maxwell is so important. For too long, Jeffrey Epstein's crimes were unpunished and were swept under the rug, as part of a culture that accepted the most unacceptable behavior from rich and powerful people. I want to acknowledge the victims who are silenced and ignored and deny justice for too long. I'm hopeful that this inquiry will lead not only to greater accountability and justice for victims, but also to a broader public understanding of the conditions that expose young women to violence and exploitation across the country and around the world. It is in that spirit that I'm here today voluntarily to answer your questions. Before I do so, I would like to outline some key facts about my relationship with Ms. Maxwell and my limited interactions with Mr. Epstein. I first met both Ms. Maxwell and Mr. Epstein in November of 2003 at a dinner in Hong Kong. I was traveling Asia and received a last minute invitation to join a large group of people

at a restaurant. I exchanged contact information with Ms. Maxwell and we began communicating more regularly over the next several months. I do not remember having any conversations with Mr. Epstein at the dinner beyond a brief introduction. In 2004, my friendship with Ms. Maxwell developed into a romantic relationship that ultimately lasted until September of 2010. This was a period of immense personal transition in my life. To put this period mid 2004 into perspective, I was preparing to finally retire from Gateway after returning to the CEO role to save the company that I founded. I was separating from my wife and the mother of my children and I was still grieving the unexpected loss of my father in August of 2003. I can say unequivocally that if I knew then what I know now about Ms. Maxwell, I never would have befriended her or allowed her to be around my four children, three of whom are girls and two at that point, ranged in ages from 8 to 14.

I never would have spent six years in a romantic relationship with her, but when I look back at that period today and respond to your questions, I can only speak to what I knew and what I saw at the time. Throughout our relationship, I lived in San Diego, Ms. Maxwell lived in New York. As such, we split our time between our respective homes and traveled together, but also spent frequent stretches of time apart. I understand that she was employed by Mr. Epstein as a property manager of sorts, but I simply do not have visibility into the details. And I avoided Mr. Epstein both because I found them off-putting, but mostly because he was my girlfriend's ex-boyfriend, not somebody that I was eager to spend time with. Over the course of my six-year relationship with Ms. Maxwell, I would estimate that I interacted with Mr. Epstein less than five times, and each of those were very brief and unintentional. I have never been inside any of his homes, flown on his airplane, or been to his island period.

Last time I spoke to Ms. Maxwell, substandively, was in September of 2010 when I ended our relationship, and the last time I saw her was a bit later when we unexpectedly ran into each other at an ocean conference. I share all of this with you today because I understand this committee's work demands candor, and I want to do my part. I will answer your questions to the best of my recollection, and I hope that my testimony is helpful. Ms. Kate, question, thank you again for appearing voluntarily. We appreciate you being here today and your testimony, and you're willing to be truthful with us today, and I just want to start briefly with some pre-limb background. You did just jump into your background a little bit, but starting off simply, where did you go to undergraduate school? Answer, I went to undergraduate school briefly at the University of Colorado, then the University of Iowa. Question and what degrees did you receive there? Answer, I did not receive a degree. Question, and then you already jumped into your professional career, but is there anything that you would like to add? Briefly walk us through

the starting of your company and your foundation. Answer, I left University of Iowa in November of 84. I went to work in a computer store in the Moin Iowa for roughly nine months, and then in September of 85, I moved back to Sue City to start Gateway with my friend Mike Hammond. Question, you mentioned you first met Miss Max while at a dinner in Hong Kong with the Clinton's president. Is that correct? Answer, yes. Question, and that was in 2003, correct? Answer, yes. Question, can you describe a little bit more about what those circumstances were? Answer, did you say, excuse me, did you say the Clinton's president? Question, where the Clinton's president at this dinner? Answer at dinner only Bill Clinton. Question only president Clinton, thank you. And this was in 2003. Answer, yes, November of 2003. Question, are there any details that we left out of your initial statement that you would like to add surrounding the circumstances of that event? Who invited you to that event, for example? Answer, I was invited to the event by Doug Bant. Question, and where you in Doug Bant close? Answer, I knew Doug.

Question, did President Clinton know you were attending? Answer, I wouldn't have been privy to that information. I assumed Doug would have told him, but I don't know for sure. Question, and you never met Miss Max while prior to this dinner? Answer, no I had not. Mr. Spector, what was the purpose of the event? Mr. Wait, President Clinton was traveling with a large delegation around Asia, and it was just a dinner. Mr. Spector, was it a fundraiser? Mr. Wait, it was not a fundraiser? It was a typical Clinton dinner, a lot of people there. Miss Cathay, question, did you interact with President Clinton during the dinner? Answer, yeah, I was seated next to him. Question, what kind of conversations were you all having? Answer, I don't recall any specific conversation, it was, you know, just a social dinner. Question, who introduced you to Miss Max while at the dinner? Answer, I don't recall exactly. Question, do you recall the first conversation you had with her? Answer, yeah, it was later on, shortly before I left dinner, I believe. Question, Mr. Spector, do you recall who else was

at the table with you and President Clinton? Answer, there was a number of people, there was a very, very large group. There were quite a few people, it was a very typical Clinton affair. Question, but neither Max, well, or Epstein were at the table? Answer, no, they were both at the table. Question, oh, they were? Answer, yeah. Question, okay. Answer, like I mentioned in my opening statement, sorry. Callin, jumps in, one of the other people asking questions, yeah, Spector understood. Back to Miss Cathay, asking questions. And to clarify, that was the first time that you had met Epstein at the dinner, answer yes. Question, do you recall the first conversation you had with Mr. Epstein? Answer, I don't really recall having a direct conversation with him. Question, do you recall who introduced you to Mr. Epstein? Answer, I don't recall. I think I was introduced when I walked in, I walked in late, the dinner was already kind of in progress, so I don't recall exactly who introduced me, I think I was introduced to them so. Miss Callin, and just to clarify Mr. Wait,

did you travel with the group? He sort of met the group there. Mr. Wait, yeah. Miss Cathay, understood. Thank you. Question, following the dinner, did you get any kind of contact information from Miss Maxwell? Or did that happen later on? Answer, yeah. I got a confirmation and information at that dinner. Question, and who asked you, who asked who on the first date? How was the relationship initiated? Answer, I don't recall specifically. At some point, we had dinner in New York. Question, do you remember when that was? Answer, I believe, that was December. Question, do you know the year? Answer, that was December of 2003. Question, 2003. Broadly speaking, taking a step back, how would you characterize your relationship with Miss Maxwell? Answer, she was my girlfriend starting in 2004. Question in 2004. Answer, yeah. Question, you don't feel like your relationship began in 2003 then? Answer, I met her in 2003, but it became more serious in 2004.

Question, did the nature of your relationship change over the years? Answer, not really. There were a few breaks a couple of times, but it was, I wouldn't say, it didn't change significantly. Mr. Specter, question, what were the reasons for the breaks? Answer for the breakups? Question, yeah. Answer, it was time. I know I was never going to marry her, and it was just one of those things. I was getting pressure from her friends, or it was just time. It had run its course. Question, that sounds like you're talking about in 2010 when you ended it. Answer, yeah. Question, but if you had breaks between during the years that you dated, what were the reasons for those? Answer, the primary reason was I was going through a divorce. It was a very emotional time. I was quitting my job. I had four kids that were my number one priority. I had custody of them every other week, and that was my biggest priority was to spend time with my kids. Question, so nothing to do with suspicions surrounding Maxwell's activities? Answer, no. Question, Miss Cat Day.

Was Miss Maxwell a single when you met her? Answer, yeah. Question, and was she single when you went on the first date in 2003? Answer, I believe so. Question, did you or Miss Maxwell ever present yourself as a couple to those around you prior to 2003? Answer, no. Hey guys, this is Joe, Snick, and Kevin Jonas from Hey Jonas sponsored by Edible Arrangements. They are also bringing us our first bowl question. Oh, we're doing the bowl. We're doing the bowl. All right, let's get into it. Okay, the question is, what's your chocolate dipped move to show up for someone's birthday? That's weirdly specific. Feels like there's only really one right answer for this one? Edible. Edible. I mean, Nick did famously send an arrangement to Bob Eiger. Yeah, sure. So you know it's good, and they've got a lot more than fresh fruit. Birthday arrangements, baked goods, flowers, chocolate dipped treats, a lot of options. And if somebody's birthday sneaks up on you, they've got delivery today, tomorrow, or even in an hour. Which is great because Kevin's birthday is coming up real soon, very soon. I'm getting an arrangement aren't I? Yep, we kind

of have to. You know, I'm okay with that. All right, we just answered our first ever Edible question. We don't typically like puns, Joe, but we'll allow it for edible. So if you want to show up with something thoughtful, this birthday, Edible is the move. Order yours today at edible.com. This is Rick Burgess from the Rick Burgess show. But we're doing it differently this time. Every guy listening right now, you're contestant. No buzzers, no calling in. Just answer honestly to yourself. Here we go. You got a belly and a little chest that won't go away no matter what you try. Gast by the middle of the afternoon, no drive left in the tank. And lastly, you lack that confidence and mental edge. Fellas, here's the thing. Those are classic signs that your testosterone has been sliding and nothing drags it down faster than extra weight. The good news? Emerging research suggests that getting rid of it may actually be more effective than TRT. So why not take matters into your own hands? I'd like to introduce now and it'll be passed out in a minute. What will be marked as majority exhibit number one, the transcript from the direct examination of a woman who we will refer to as Jane Doe. And that was she previously worked as a legal assistant for Epstein and Company. And then later she was an executive assistant to miss Maxwell for six years. The transcript is marked at the bottom corner of the page, EFT, number ending 6615, and we'll be looking at page 85 of that transcript, which will be marked at the top of the page. The blue numbers at the top will be the page numbers. It should actually be the second page in this packet behind that cover page. There will be 85 at the top of it. It should say,

answer, oh, 85. Question and we'll be looking at line seven through 13. And y'all can take a moment to look at that and we'll pause the clock and you can let us know when you're ready to move forward. Mr. Skladani, one of the lawyers for Mr. Wait. I'm sorry you said page 85. Cathay, it should be at the top labeled in blue ink page 85. Mr. Wait, I'm not seeing that. Miss Cathay, page 85 of 200. Miss Callan jumps in what line? Skladani, oh, you found it. Wait, oh, my name's here. So this is page 85. It's just not labeled in blue. Miss Cathay, I apologize. I think this was printed with more pages than is necessary. So it's page 85. And we're looking at line seven through 13. And you can just take a look at it and let us know when you're ready to move on. Mr. Wait, I'm ready. Question. So Miss Doh claims in that testimony that you and Miss Maxwell began seeing each other as a couple in 2001 or 2002, which is right before

she stopped working for Miss Maxwell. Do you have any reason to know why Miss Doh is accurate in this timeline? She seems to claim that you knew each other and were dating in 2001 or 2002. Answer, I do not. Question. So you have no reason to suspect that anyone would have thought the two of you were a couple before this. Answer, could you clarify? I did not meet Miss Maxwell in November of 2003. Question understood. Miss Maxwell also testified in her DOJ testimony that you met in 2003. But she said that she couldn't quite remember. So is there any reason that you could termize of why her assistant would think that the two of you had known each other or were seeing or were associated prior to 2003? Answer, I do not know. Question. How long were you in a romantic relationship with Miss Maxwell for the clarity of the record? Answer from early 2004 through September 2010. Alright folks, we're going to wrap up right here and in the next episode dealing with the topic we're going to pick up where we left off. All the information that goes with this episode

can be found in the description box. What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In this episode we're getting right back to the Ted Way transcript from his interview with Congress. Question, you mentioned this a little bit in your opening statement, but how frequently did you see each other through the course of the relationship? Answer was primarily every other week. It wasn't consistent every other week but mostly. Question and you said that you lived far apart from each other. Answer yes. Question, did you ever share a residence with Miss Maxwell? Answer no. I did spend a lot of time at a residence in New York and she spent time later in our relationship after she got to know my children at my residence in Mojolla. Question, what was the address of her residence in New York that you said you spent time at? Answer, 116 E 65th Street. Ms. Callan, are we finished with this? Ms. Cathay, yes you can put that aside. Question, did Miss Maxwell own

this residence? Answer, I don't know. Question, did anyone get cut off by weight? She told me she did. Question, did anyone else ever stay at the residence? Answer, she had some staff that live with her. Question, do you recall who the staff were? Answer yes. Question, Mr. Callan, Miss Callan, can we go off record for a moment? They go off record and now they're back. Question, did anyone else ever stay at the residence that Miss Maxwell owned in New York? Answer, she had a staff couple who lived in the basement with her son. Question, and you mentioned what other parts of the time they were staying in your residence? What was that located? Answer, and she was staying there? Question, yes correct. Answer, yes that would have. That wasn't until later in our relationship and that would have been in Mojolla California. Question, can you estimate the years that she started to stay at your residence with you? Answer, probably not till I'm guessing 2007, maybe 06 07. Question, did Miss Maxwell have a relationship with anyone else in your family?

Callan, can we go off the record? Off the record again? Now they're back on. Callan, wait, hang on, hang on two seconds. We'll go off the record. Okay, they go off the record. Now they're back. Kathay, did Miss Maxwell have a relationship with anyone else in your family? Mr. Wait, yeah, she had a close relationship with my children, and she met virtually everyone in my immediate family. Miss Kathay, did Miss Maxwell stay in contact with your children after their relationship ended? Mr. Wait, not that I know of. I do believe my daughter Emily saw her in an airport once. Mr. Spector, did anyone else in your family stay in touch with Miss Maxwell after your relationship ended? Mr. Wait, no. Miss, Miss Callan, I think he answered that. Mr. Wait, not that I know of. Question, we're going to switch gears a little bit, and we're going to turn to Mr. Epstein. You talked about how you met Mr. Epstein at the dinner. Was, what was your first impression of him? Answer, I found Mr. Epstein somewhat arrogant. I don't really recall,

like I said, my opening statement. He was off putting somewhat. I didn't really pay significant attention to it that much. Question, did you know anything about him prior to meeting him? Answer, no. Mr. Grant, and you said you thought he was off putting. What made you think that he was off putting? Answer, it was just, well, he was introduced to me as they were flying on his plane, the delegation the group, on a tour through Asia. I think the way he carried himself, and a few comments, it was a group. I don't remember having a one-on-one conversation with him, it was just kind of a large group there. You know, the table, it's probably this size. Mr. Grant, and you would say it was roughly the same feeling as to why you thought he was arrogant as well. Ms. Callan, do you want to clarify the question a bit? Mr. Grant? Yeah. So you said he was off putting an arrogant. You just described what made him seem off putting. Would that same description fit on why you thought he was arrogant as well? Mr. Wade, yeah, just kind of the way he carried himself maybe. Question, did Mr. Epstein have a reputation amongst other people that were there

at the table that you heard about? Answer, no. Question, was Mr. Epstein aware of your romantic relationship with Ms. Maxwell while you were dating her? Answer, yes. Question, when did Mr. Epstein become aware of your relationship? Answer, I don't know. Question, do you know how he became aware of it? Answer, I don't know for sure. Mr. Spector, how do you know he was aware of the relationship then? Mr. Wade, I did meet him at one point in Ms. Maxwell's residence early in our relationship. Ms. Cathay, can you describe? More about the circumstances of that meeting and how that conversation went. Answer, Mr. Wade, Ms. Maxwell was hosting a dinner event. We were getting ready, and then she announced that Jeffrey wanted to meet me and he'd be there shortly. And he kind of appeared. It was quite odd, I felt, and unencounterable since he was their ex-boyfriend. Ms. Cathay, did she give you any information about him in preparation for meeting him? Mr. Wade, no, not really. Mr. Spector, so you knew that he was her ex-boyfriend. So was that from conversation

that you had with Ms. Maxwell or someone else? Answer, yes. Question, with Ms. Maxwell, answer, yes. Question, what did she tell you about him? Answer, she told me that he was like a brilliant investor money manager. Question, so she only told you positive things about her ex-boyfriend, answer, yes. And that they ended their relationship, I think it was, on her 40th birthday. Question by Ms. Cathay. You mentioned this briefly earlier, but how often did you see or interact with Mr. Epstein through the course of your relationship with Ms. Maxwell? Answer, there was only two other times after that meeting at the 65th Street Residence, and those were both literally running into him like on the street. Question, these were brief conversations then? Answer, very brief. Question, do you happen to know what you were talking about with him? Answer, no, I do not recall. Question, was he particularly interested in your business or anything else? Answer, the meeting at 65th Street, he asked a lot about what I was investing in, you know, that type of thing.

Question, did you get the impression that he was after information about your company specifically? Answer, it was quite odd. I couldn't really figure it out, frankly. Question, so no, you were just unclear on why he was asking or what he was asking about? Answer, yeah, I got more of the sense he was feeling me out. Question, in retrospect, do you have any idea what he might have been about? Answer, no. Question, did Ms. Maxwell ever express concerns that Mr. Epstein would have had a negative reaction to the two of you dating? Mr. Wait, no. Question, did the nature of your relationship with Mr. Epstein change at any point while you were dating Ms. Maxwell? Answer, no, I never really had a relationship with Mr. Epstein. Mr. Specter, did you ever communicate with Mr. Epstein over the phone or email or anything? Mr. Wait, no. Specter, besides the in-person interactions that you described. To add, wait, no, not that I know of. Ms. Kate, could you please go into a little bit more detail about Ms. Maxwell's occupation? Answer, sure. I'll try to speak up for those in the back.

I can only go based on what she told me. She told me that she was after the romantic relationship with Mr. Epstein ended, you know, prior to that, she had managed his properties and his staff, and you know, acted like kind of a wife would. She then transitioned to an employee status as an estate manager. After we began dating, she minimized those activities and was moving out of that out of that role. And she was always busy investing in other things, small businesses, she was very entrepreneurial. And you know, she claimed she paid for her residence with some internet investment. Question, couple things to follow up on there. But first, so she was still employed, by Mr. Epstein while you were dating, can you clarify the time frame of that? When did she stop working for Epstein or excuse me, let me rephrase. Did she ever stop working for Mr. Epstein while you were together? Answer, I don't know that for sure. Question, but you said she cut back her time working for him. Answer that's what she told me. Question, while you didn't know that for sure. Answer, I didn't know that for sure. Question because you did live in different cities and

no verbal response. Question, do you know how often she was going into the office? Answer, I don't know. Question, do you know how often she was communicating with Mr. Epstein on a daily basis? Answer, I don't know. Question, did you ever visit Ms. Maxwell at the office where she worked for Mr. Epstein? Answer, no, not that I recall. Question, did she ever talk to you about Mr. Epstein in the context of being her employer? Answer, not in that context. Question, she never complained about work? Answer, no, not that I recall. Question, did she ever complain about any aspect of her job? Even things that maybe were unrelated to Mr. Epstein? Answer, she didn't get into a lot of details about it. Now Mr. Spector is asking a question. You didn't have questions for her given that she was working, you were dating someone that was working for her ex-boyfriend? You didn't have any questions about that? Mr. Wait, I was under the impression that she moved on from that. She talked a lot about investment ideas and she had other activities, but very little about. I don't recall any conversations about the day-to-day activity with Mr. Epstein's affairs. Ms. Cathay

doing the questioning now. You were her boyfriend for seven years. So in your opinion, the things that you observed did Mr. Epstein ever manipulate, Ms. Maxwell, into continuing working for him? Ms. Callan, if you have an opinion, Mr. Wait, yeah, you're asking me to give an opinion. Ms. Cathay I am, as a long-term boyfriend, and what you observed about her. Mr. Wait, I could sum it up to say, he seemed like there was a presence, and it was always there. Ms. Cathay, do you feel like there was a consequence of the fact that they used to date? Mr. Wait, I don't know. Mr. Spector, it did seem like Mr. Epstein knew something about Ms. Maxwell that she was afraid about. Mr. Wait, I never got that impression. Ms. Cathay, question did Mr. Epstein abuse Ms. Maxwell? Answer again, I don't know. I never would have witnessed anything directly. Question did Mr. Epstein ever ask her, coarsher or for sure, to have sex with other people? Answer again, I don't know. Question, she never brought up anything about that, anything about their

previous relationship that ever made you feel uncomfortable or unsafe? Ms. Callan, do you want a chat? They go off the record, they come back on. Ms. Cathay will go back on the record. Question did Ms. Maxwell, in the course of dating her, and getting close to her, did she ever mention that anything happened in her relationship with Mr. Epstein that made her feel uncomfortable or unsafe? Answer not that I can recall. Question did she talk about anything ever occurring that she regrets? Answer again, nothing, nothing comes to mind. Question was your relationship with Ms. Maxwell, monogamous? Answer, I was under the impression it was. Question and what is Ms. Maxwell's sexual orientation? Answer, she's, gets cut off by his lawyer, want to go off the record? They go off the record, they come back on. Question, what was Ms. Maxwell's sexual orientation? Mr. Weight, heterosexual? Mr. Specter, do you have any reason to believe that she had any sexual encounters with females? Ted Weight, no. Ms. Cathay, question during your relationship with Ms. Maxwell,

did you have any reason to believe that her romantic relationship with Mr. Epstein was continuing while you were dating her? Answer, no. All right folks, we're going to wrap up right here, and in the next episode dealing with the topic we're going to pick up where we left off. All the information that goes with this episode can be found in the description box. What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. We're diving right back in to Ted weight and his conversation with Congress. Question I'd like to enter as majority exhibit to an email dated with the subject line. Hey, it'll be passed out right now. This is from Glade Maxwell to Ted weight. The email is marked EFTA number ending in 5814. Question by Miss Kathay. And we'll wait until they get passed out and you

can take a second to review and then let us know when you're ready to resume. Do you recall receiving this email from Miss Maxwell in 2004? Answer I do not. Question have you ever seen the email before? Answer only in preparation for the testimony. Question and we understand J.E. in the email is meant Jeffrey Epstein. Did you also understand J.E. to be Jeffrey Epstein? Answer I would assume so. Question would you please explain in general what Miss Maxwell is saying in this email with the subject line. Hey, at the top of the page. Answer I assume she's talking about how she's going to define her relationship with Mr. Epstein with me in her life. Question and to clarify for the sake of the record when Miss Maxwell is referring to quote our relationship in the email. Is she referring to her relationship with you? Answer I don't know. I assume reading that it was talking about her relationship with Mr. Epstein. Her work relationship with Mr. Epstein. But maybe it's our relationship. I can't. It's not clear. Ms. Callan, yeah,

it's not clear. Ms. Cathay understood. Mr. Sklawdani. That's a message she wrote. Mr. Wait, it's a message she wrote that you're asking about. Yeah, so I don't know whether the hour, I don't know whether the hour means Epstein or me. Question thank you to the best of your knowledge. What was your reaction to this email when you received it? This was sent to you by Golan. Answer again. I don't recall. Question. Did you know generally that Ms. Maxwell was discussing her relationship with you with Mr. Epstein? Answer yes. Question in the email. Ms. Maxwell says essentially that Mr. Epstein is reviewing the logistics of your relationship and their relationship. Is that an accurate characterization? Ms. Callan, I don't know that that's clear. Mr. Wait, yeah. Ms. Cathay understood in the email though she is saying that he is reviewing the aspects of our relationship. Where does it say that? Ask Mr. Sklawdani. Ms. Cathay, it's in the second line before

it ends, before without impeding my plans. He's reviewed all the ways for us to remain close without impeding any plans or fun that we may have. Ms. Klawdani, it sounds like she's reviewing the ways for her and Epstein to remain close. That's how I'm reading it. Ms. Cathay, question. You have no reason to believe that she's talking about a relationship with you and logistics of how that will work with Mr. Epstein being involved? Answer yeah, I think it was. I'm reading it as two separate things. You know, I was reading it as her work relationship with Mr. Epstein and me being in her life. Question. We can step back and make it more general though, based on this email and what we're seeing here, did Ms. Maxwell need to be discussing her relationship either with Mr. Epstein or with you and how those two would work together? Answer, I don't know. Agree, that is a bit odd. Question, do you think Ms. Maxwell was seeking Mr. Epstein's approval of your relationship with her? Answer, I think in a way yes. Question, do you feel that that could have had a

negative impact on your relationship with her? If he had disapproved, answer, I do not know. Question, do you think that she would have ended the relationship if he had disapproved? Answer, I do not know. Question, how often did you and Ms. Maxwell discuss Mr. Epstein's opinions of your relationship in general? Answer, I don't recall. Question, did you ever, did you ever discuss your relationship with Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell? Answer, no. Question, did Ms. Maxwell ever express a desire to stop working for Mr. Epstein? Answer, not that I know of. I wanted her to stop working for Mr. Epstein. Question, did she disagree with you? Were those conversations that you had often? Answer, I don't remember a disagreement over that. Question, and why did you want her to stop working for him? Answer, because he was her ex-boyfriend. I was just uncomfortable with it. Question, there was no specific reason that you were uncomfortable? Answer, no. Question just in general that he was her ex-boyfriend. Answer,

yes. Mr. Specter, question, you mentioned that the reason you ended the relationship in 2010 was because you knew you were never going to marry her. Is that right? Answer, yes. Question, did that decision to break up? Did it have anything to do with the continued employment with Mr. Epstein? Answer, I mean, I wasn't sure that she was working for Mr. Epstein at that point in time, but he was a continuous presence in her life. Question, and was that presence part of what made you want to end things? Answer, maybe in a small way, but it wasn't the primary driving factor. Question, why were you so sure that you weren't going to marry her? Answer, it's just the relationship had kind of run its course. I just knew that wasn't right for me. Ms. Cathay, question, Mr. Wade. I'd like to pivot now to your connections to the Clinton family. When did you first meet President Clinton? Answer in the late 90s, 98 or 99 in Dublin, Ireland at a gateway event. Question, can you describe a little bit more of the circumstances who introduced you to President Clinton? Answer,

I was like, met him himself. He pulled up to our factory in a limo and he got out by himself, and I greeted him. Question, you said this was an event. Answer, yes. Question, who else was at the event? Answer the Prime Minister of Ireland, and around 2500 other people. The ambassadors were signing a digital treaty between Ireland and the United States. Question, what did you discuss with President Clinton on that day? Answer, it was all business. I walked him through our operation, and then we discussed the logistics of the event, signing the treaty, and then we went live on CNN.com, and we all gave speeches. And then I rushed out to beat him to beat his airplane out. Question, when did you first meet Secretary Clinton? Answer, and I believe it was later than that, after he left office, early 2000s. Question, can you describe the circumstances surrounding your first meeting with Secretary Clinton? Answer, the first time I recall meeting Secretary Clinton was at a dinner, a small, very private dinner in New York. Answer, or question in New York,

who else was present? Answer, it was President and Secretary Clinton. Mr. Miss Callan, can we go off record? They go off record? Come back on, Ashworth. No, she asked a question about it. Mr. Wade, I'll answer. Ashworth jumps in, if your client is refusing to answer the question. Mr. Wade, I'll answer the question. It was Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. Miss Ashworth, thank you, Miss Kethe, thank you, and who introduced you to Secretary Clinton? Answer, I don't recall, but we all showed up at dinner. Question, do you recall any of the initial conversation that you had with her? Answer, no. It was just typical dinner conversations. What was going on? Question, can you briefly describe the nature and the extent of your relationship with President Clinton? Answer, I think we were friends. We became friends. I played golf with them quite a few times. I traveled with them on a few trips, would see him and catch up over coffee or lunch when I was in New York, or he was on the West Coast and still do. Question, can you estimate about how frequently

you would see President Clinton? Answer, once or twice a year. Question, did you ever have any business with President Clinton? Answer, I was a donor to the Clinton Library. Question, were you a donor to any other organization or foundation that was related to President Clinton? Answer, I might have done some small grants to the Clinton Foundation. The big grant I gave was to support his construction of the library. Question, and we'll return to that in a little bit, the Clinton Foundation. But for now, can you briefly describe the extent and nature of your relationship with Secretary Clinton? Answer, yeah, I'm not as close as with the President, but I've met her on several multiple occasions. She's been to my home, I've been to our home, so I met her on multiple occasions. Yeah. Question, and you said that you've been to her home, which home is that? Answer, the home in Chapa Qua, as well as her home in DC, which I don't know if she still has that home or not. Question, how many times did you visit the home in Chapa Qua? Answer, I don't recall exactly two or three. Question, do you recall any specific times that you

went? Can you recount who else was there with you? Answer, typically, I would have been by myself. Question, there was no other occasions where? Answer at the home in Chapa Qua? Question at the home in Chapa Qua, yes. Answer, at the home in Chapa Qua, yeah, it was typically just me, I believe so. Question and her other home, how often did you visit there? Answer just once, and that was when she was running for President, and I do believe Ms. Maxwell was with me at that. Question, do you remember what year that was? Answer, that would have been before the 2008 election, so probably 2007, I'm guessing. Question, and was President Clinton there as well? Answer, no. Question, I'm sorry if you said that. Question, do you still communicate with President Clinton? Answer, yes. Question about how often? Answer, like I said, once or twice a year. Question in Secretary Clinton, same question. Answer, I haven't seen her in a while. Mr. Inspector, question, have you communicated with either of them this year? Mr. Wade, I don't believe so.

Mr. Inspector, so you've not discussed their depositions or your transcribed interview with them? Mr. Wade, no. Ms. Kathay, question, when did you first meet Chelsea Clinton? Answer, that's a good question. I don't remember when I first met Chelsea, but I've known her for quite some time. Question, I believe Secretary Clinton testified to this committee that you met the Clintons in the early 90s. Is that accurate? Answer, I don't recall meeting them in the early 90s. I don't recall meeting them until the late 90s. Question, the late 90s. Answer, yeah. Question, would you have met Chelsea Clinton around the late 90s? Answer, I don't think I met Chelsea Clinton until the early 2000s. Question, and don't you, do you remember the circumstances? Answer, I don't remember. At least that's why I remember it. Question, do you remember who introduced you or connected you to her? Answer, I don't remember exactly sorry. Question, can you describe the nature and extent of your relationship with Chelsea Clinton? Answer, I think we're close friends. Question, are you currently close friends? Answer, yes. Question, and we'll discuss a little bit more

about Chelsea Clinton later at the wedding event. But do you still communicate with any other member of the Clinton family? Answer, Chelsea and her husband Mark. Question, do you see each other socially every year? Answer, not very often, but a few times a year. Question, and how would you characterize your relationship with the Clintons at the time that you met Ms. Maxwell? Answer, could you just, at the time I met Ms. Maxwell? Question, yes. Answer, oh again, I was just getting to know them. I think I'd already made my donation to the library so it was more as kind of a donor, I think at that point. Question, did Ms. Maxwell know the Clintons before she met you? Answer, she was, I wouldn't say the Clintons, I think she knew President Clinton. Answer, just President Clinton. Answer, yes. Question, she did not, gets cut off by weight, she was traveling with President Clinton when I met her. Question, so to be clear, she did not know Secretary Clinton at the time. Answer, I don't know, I don't believe so, I don't know for sure. I don't believe so. Mr. Spector, so you met

Glaine Maxwell in 2003, you met Bill Clinton in the late 90s. Glaine Maxwell, new President Clinton, before she met you. So, you had a mutual friend in President Clinton. Did you ever have a conversation with President Clinton about Glaine Maxwell? Before he met Glaine Maxwell? Mr. Wade, no, Ms. Cathay, question, had Ms. Maxwell meet President Clinton? Answer, I don't know for sure. Question, do you know how she met Secretary Clinton? Answer, I don't know, I assume it would have been through me at some point. Question, and you don't remember when that would have been? Answer, I don't recall specifically. Question understood, and then how would you characterize your relationship with the Clintons later on while you and Ms. Maxwell were dating? Answer, we attended a lot of CGI events. There was a lot, you know, dinners, it was, you know, cordial social. Question, during his deposition to this committee, President Clinton testified that he felt he was closer to Ms. Maxwell because of you. Why do you think President Clinton would say that? You were the reason he was

closer to Ms. Maxwell? Answer again, I don't know. I think it's because I was spending a lot of time with them. Question, did the Clinton spend time with you to be more specific, did President Clinton and Secretary Clinton spend time with you and Ms. Maxwell in social settings outside of events as a couple? Answer, I don't recall any instances of spending time with Ms. Maxwell, Secretary Clinton, and President Clinton without, you know, a loan or separately, I don't recall that ever happening. Question, what about Chelsea Clinton and her husband, you and Ms. Maxwell? Answer, that's possible. Question, can you think of any specific instance? Answer, I can't, I'm sorry. Gets cut off question about what time in your relationship with Ms. Maxwell, were you spending time with Chelsea Clinton and her husband? Can you estimate specific years or time frame of the time that you were spending with Chelsea Clinton and her husband and you and Ms. Maxwell? Answer, probably, you know, it would have been the time closer to their wedding. Question, understood. All right folks, we're going to wrap up right here and in the next episode
