0:00And speaking of music, we're turning that way now because music lovers and East Claire are in for a special evening this Saturday is claimed penis vocalist and composer magia Elliott joins the Italian flottest and multi instrumentalist Marco G Carria for unique house concert in Tumgrenie the performance at Karimah's house concert will blend classical music jazz improv world music and original compositions special guests include vocalist Miriam O'Shea and guitarist Tim Portman and delighted to be joined by magia Miriam and Tim a good morning to all of you good morning can you can you hear us right we can hear you loud and clear and thanks to all of you for joining us on morning focus and uh magia you were with us some months ago with Marco indeed on that occasion to talk about uh I guess previous performance in Tumgrenie what what is it about that part of East Claire that just keep drawing you back well there is a fantastic woman Kudkarima that organises house concerts and she's a friend of a friend and I was looking to do a concert in

1:02Claire and she said oh contact Karimah and um we we played in her house and it was magical so we thought we'd do it again and this time we we Marco is back especially and we've invited Miriam along hello hello Miriam yes maybe Miriam talked to us a little bit about yourself and Tim uh will be performing especially at Tom I wrote a typo that's quite that's quite alright um talk to us Miriam about yourself and Tom's involvement in the show yeah well we're just really really looking forward to it um I met my I think when I was just a little kid she used to be the piano player um accompanying me on the violin when I was doing my exams so um it's like a dream come true to be back with her now all these years later and to be working with my and we're recording an album this week and then I met Tom through Maya so Tom is playing some guitar and he's waving at you now Tom he's waving he's here yeah Tom yeah hi Tom was that you playing the kind of rye kudresk

2:05guitar there in the background it was yes well well that sounds nice um what does the guitar bring to this this combination of piano voice flute and whistles there you go you let's see what does the guitar bring why is it up to me Tom sir I don't know it brings music I suppose okay it's just nice Maya and I got to work on some music a long time ago and uh so it's really lovely to be invited to this project um and I played a beautiful piece of Maya some years ago called Unraveled it's one of Maya's compositions and I put a slide guitar on that and uh it was absolutely beautiful and three and haunting and easy so so basically we we were asked by Miriam to record an album so then we thought okay well we'll do an album together and let's invite Miriam along to do the two concerts that we're doing so we're just putting all in the mix

3:08basically I guess you perform in all sorts of different settings have you performed in the the setting of Kareem as a house in other locations before do you prefer those more kind of intimate performances um all of us play in all kinds of different venues so um marco plays anything from original music to he's he's looking at me now as if I said something uh yeah we play original music we we kind of don't really stick to one thing so I I got to play in the national concert hall a few years ago which is wonderful so you know from big stages to small intimate ones basically we we just love playing music yeah Miriam how important is improv to what you guys do well I'd say super important I think that's where especially with the musicians that are here with me today I mean they're all just unbelievably talented so stick stick them in a room and

4:12tell them to play something you know and then I'll kind of try to sing a little bit over it and it just the magic really comes when when it's not planned I think and when when you break the rules and kind of go outside of the norms so yeah well we do appreciate all of you joining us on the show Maya for for people who want to come along um is it pay at the door can they get tickets online beforehand how's it working uh very easy just turn up and it's donations on the door Kareem will come around with a basket and um people donate whatever they you know that there is a suggested donation of 15 euros but if somebody really wants to come and they haven't got it just come so up to the audience it's their choice and the performance in Tum grainy is this form part of a a wider tour uh or is it a one-off for the moment well we just have two concerts this time um so

5:14if the first one it's going to be all four of us um and for the one in Dublin in the Lutheran Church on Monday I'm not sure if Tom is able to make it can you make it Tom we'll see we'll see um so yeah because it's not always possible to get everybody along so it's just a two-date tour and for anyone who uh wants to hear some recorded examples of your work and we're going to be playing some of that in just a moment but uh anything just out anything on the horizon um well me and my record did an album that was in June called Eshwarya which is available on bandcamp um and Miriam we're present you recording an album with Miriam so that will be out sometime you know yeah haven't haven't got that for you i put it at some point yeah yeah my last release is a pipeline and it's on a friendly folk record no out of the box records it's called Dorje
