About this episode

“Look at our record plant temporary lactation of the 50-50 rule. Governed recordment of workers from outside the year.”From the transcript
It's hoped a temporary relaxation of Ireland's employment permit system for family carers can lead to an increase in home help hours in Clare. Enterprise Minister Peter Burke is due to bring a memo to Cabinet proposing a temporary easing of the 50:50 rule to help fill vacancies and relieve pressure on frontline services. The rule currently requires at least half of a workforce to be made up of Irish, EEA, Swiss or UK nationals before an employment permit can be issued to someone from outside the EEA. Bodyke Fine Gael TD Joe Cooney says it will provide vital assistance to those struggling to find home help.

Look at our record plant temporary lactation of the 50-50 rule. Governed recordment of workers from outside the year. And any could help to bring community nursing home beds, currently line idle, interiors, and increase home health powers and distribute your services across the country. As we're well aware, that part is a big problem at the moment. We are well aware of home health is really hard to get through, the facility hours of us being approved for different families. It put a lot of pressure on the families, and this is welcome, known and hope to this will help us as we go on forward. And the rule itself, in principle, it makes a lot of sense, but I suppose in times where resources are stretched, and moves such as this to relax the measures, it makes a lot of sense. Look at it, it makes a lot of sense, with some fabulous fantastic healthcare staff here in the county and the country. But unfortunately, we've understood the pressure.

It does make sense to try and bring more work people into the workforce, to help struggling families at the moment to find a shelter. To get home health, which is very important and vital to two people in their own homes as long as possible. That's a big common issue in the social. We're well aware of places in northern homes, I've got very hard to get some fast to do because of staff and others, and also the person that's on there for people to get into their nostrils. So it's quite an important decision given consideration, and this is what to get more staff available to the healthcare companies. Yeah, it brings in more people who are supposed fully qualified to do the job, and it prevents the case of someone is maybe learning on the job and gives them time to work on it, and do proper training to make sure that they're able to then enter the workforce and go back to fulfil the 50-50 rule afterwards. Correct, and training is very important, and we need to be bringing more of our own people through the training system as well,

to get more people ready to push the 50-50 rule. Exactly what you said is we'll bring more people into the shelter, and head to the situation we have at the moment, and we have a serious, serious situation at the moment. So hopefully, with this fall, when they're approved, we'll help that situation, but hopefully, more of our own people as well, trained up to take over when this fall is no longer continued waste, because at the moment, it's vitally important, it is implemented. Yeah, and it's supposed to same with this, as it is with everything, soon rather than later to take as much strain after the system is possible. Does a large standard system as possible, nearly every gate of people coming into my office about home health, see to me yes, home health, in fairness, the health service and the head to see, I don't know what must to get workers to try and look after these elderly people, also in the rural countryside, very hard to get as best to walk into my areas, because it does cost a lot of money to wear in the urban areas,

and in the more built-up areas, but again, it's vital to step up there in order to help and support people in the lawnhouses, and as I've already said, to keep the place to not to not to the homes and other services as well.
