And, oh no, Kerry, gentlemen, it is time for another episode of Lietz Owl. And today we also have a special guest, Charles. You want to know the reason why we have him here, because light needs emotional support, bro, because he all not only does he need emotional support, he also needs a coach because he needs to be helped in the game.
So we brought the dough, Charles on the pod. How you feeling today, Charles? I just feel like we should change the episode name to like crashes out. Not lights out. What was that bro? I'm getting some thumbnail ideas right now. Okay, I like that. Dang, that thought would go crazy. That was, that was, that was, that was a nice on the one one, bro. And honestly, just like that, light switching to content creation, I quit. And we've heard that promise so many times that we just don't believe you're gonna. Yeah, yeah. Who invited you? I did. How you been, Charles? How, how you, before we get into light's distraught, despair, how you been, bro? I've been doing great, man. I've just been grinding, it's been her like a crazy hurricane season in a way like, I grew up here. So I've never seen a hurricane season quite like this. So it's been nuts. But just been grinding, working, saving up money.
And yeah, everything's been going great. I had an amazing weekend. I worked this last weekend, but BlizzCon happened, which is essentially like kind of there in Nintendo Direct, but it's more of an event like a in-person event. But they, I'm a huge Blizzard fan. They essentially just like announced my dream game. I can't believe it. So it's like a, it's essentially what a work craft for boomers. What a work effort. It's like the name of the game, but it's, it's essentially a wow for boomers. If I had to make it a pretty, isn't there a lot of classic ready? Yes, which was like the rear really so the old games, but this is going to be like them remaking the old game with the old developers and the old design philosophies. If I had to put it, if I had to translate it and smash, have you guys ever seen anything? Yeah, kind of like that, but imagine if it wasn't just the rear really so, like they added new stuff to it. Oh, yeah, that's what they're doing with maple story classic. Oh, shit. Yeah, yeah, so essentially like that.
They will be on maple story classic. That was a percent on there. What a million percent. And then they announced like a new Starcraft game. Starcraft the last time a new Starcraft game came out, I was like in college or like right after high school, which is crazy. Yeah, wait, there's a new Starcraft. It's going to be a shooter. Yeah, it comes out 2030, bro. And the, and you know what's sick too. A lot of the trailers at BlizzCon, like old Blizzard was known for being pretty like dark and gory and dude, it like all the cinematics were just, it felt like old Blizzard men. That's all I gotta say, it was sick. You know, it was like 10 minutes from me up to Strier's in Anaheim. Yeah, I've always wanted to go to a BlizzCon. And I mean, we, we live close to it by just never. I mean, also, I think it wasn't happening when we lived together, I think. Because there was a lot of time. Oh, yeah, there's like a three-year gap or something like that. Yeah, I think that's really cool. Yeah, you could have gone, bro. No, bro, I'm a streamer. I don't leave my house. Yeah, bro, my um, for context, my boss, like owner of Shopify, he was a professional starcraft player.
So it's pretty cool. Charlie? Yeah, I mean, no, my, my Shopify boss side. Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah. I don't know how many niggas you got. That's a lot. I don't know how to respond to that. He's literally the, he's the owner of the team. And you're actually like, he's like another member. Like, I don't know. I'm so good. So, um, the starcraft was like my first introduction at esports, man. It's so crazy. I mean, starcraft was, career was essentially and starcraft were the first iteration of esports. They kind of crafted the way and like showed every, every, the world. Kind of how to do it. And then emoji started coming through and stuff like that. So yeah, starcraft and Blizzard, they got a lot of history and gaming. It was a really fun blizzcon. Well, let's talk about, let's, let's talk about rip tide in general. Okay. So the first thing I want to do is put the results on the screen for everybody to see for our, don't put it on my screen, though. That's fine. You don't have to do that. Okay. No worries. Oh, didn't chat. No, that's fine.
You don't have to do that. Do you actually need it? No, yeah, I actually want to post it in chat because I don't, I don't want to see outside of top eight. Okay. Light just, just don't see outside of top. Close your eyes. There's mutual chat. So I just don't see outside of top eight. So Japan dominated eight, uh, dominated five of the eight spots in top eight. They're big four plus Ken. He had a Cola tweak, Dormi, Sonic's, Karama, who once a year reminds us, he's really good at this game. Mia, Ken and Hurt, that was it notable misses of top eight included Zamba, Rauru, Serup, uh, Geist to actually put Dormi in losers, Raka Shasta Geist, Louis Money, I can add a good aroma, Atomic Mud, Bubs, the highest placing representative from New England. Hmm. And then there's no way you did that. No way you're just throwing shade right that. I went because of you. You're one of the reasons I went. Okay, okay. I know the clip of last,
now roll the clip of last podcast where he's like, I think you should go. I need something. This your fault. You're one of the many problems with my life. I need to eliminate you from it. Like, What? Oh, Oh, shit. Oh, I'm good. I'm good. Sick of this. All right. Go on. I didn't listen to the last podcast to the spot. Yeah. You're relaxed. Boy, so I listened to the last part and Cosmos. Pretty much begged you not to go. I didn't say Cosmos. I didn't say Cosmos. Cosmos is. Cosmos was like, Cosmos was hard. He was just like, I don't know. Please don't do it. Yes, but what did Phil say? I said you should go. Yeah, that's the problem. You know what? Let's let's get into it now. Let's just get about this logically. Let's think about this logic key. All right. So you didn't practice since supernova, right? Correct. I didn't play since supernova. Okay. What actually play?
I have some thoughts in that. Fox, which by the way, has been a local argument between me and the other top players. The other top players think they have a higher APM. Which is stupid as fuck to say. Okay. Yeah. Agreed. I mean, you can literally just track it too. Like you can, you could have someone, I don't know, whips something up on AI that tracks action per minute off based off. Actually, no, you can't do that based off the visual. You have to hook something up to your controller. Cos you can technically do inputs that are like. You like fast enough as well. Yeah, like him dashing back, dashing forward and holding shield of banana and hand is fast as more APM than what I do. I'm gonna fucking crash out. Well, we have a higher APM though. Oh, he hits you. He dropped the area. Yes, yes. Like the, the Z drop re-catch with the aerial banana, like that. All that kind of tech. Yeah, there's three kinds of high APM. Most players actually. There's like tech APM and then there's, because even like Peach has high tech APM, but neutral APM, I would give it to Fox.
But I don't know what the average APM, it would be close. It would be close. I don't know. It depends on how much time tweaked be hitting you, right? If it is based on head and stuff. Cause like Loki, like just fucking, that was that could be like five actions and like it's plus second. Yeah, I just, I just don't think anybody has a higher APM than me. If there's any contention, it's probably like a peach main maybe, but that's just because they're literally fighting air half the time. It's like, I'm just swinging at the open air dude. Yeah, bro. But anyways, go, go ahead. Go ahead. I was gonna say back, really back a little to what you were saying. I haven't played in a month. What were you gonna say? Yeah, we were thinking about this logically. Yeah, last first thing about this logically, your character is, I, I, I know a lot of other top players might think Fox is easy, but dude, Fox is fucking hard. Oh, Charles, when you heard me saying that he should not go, what were you thinking? I agreed with you. I was just like, dude, okay, here's the thing.
If you and your new managers, if you, you're playing Fox, Fox is just one of those characters where there's not a lot of, oh, whoopsie, like, I messed up. Oh no, like you mess up at 0% in your dead. And I know, I know like a lot of the meta characters can do that to anybody. They can essentially turn, they can wave their magic wand and be like, you're now Fox McCloud at 0% and then like Steve will get you and then they do some nil bullshit and then you're dead. They like wave the magic wand and turn everyone to Fox and you're just like, you are now melee Fox and I'm gonna like do some bullshit combo what you're saying? He has a wand. Willy-Willy-wow, you're down. McCloud. Yeah, and it's not just Steve. Steve has this wand. Game of Wands has the wand. Game of Wands has the wand. Cause you have the wand. And Joker and the wand. And the wand. And the wand. Okay, Joker got the wand if our send out. So it's like half, like not even half time, maybe like a third or a quarter of the time or it depends on how long the our send is out.
But like all these other characters just got the wand. Sonic's got it. On deck. Yeah. On deck. 100% of time. And on top of that, there's the wand characters. And then there's just other characters that, oh, I'm Fox and I got hit by some random ass, like high tier or mid tier and then you're dead. So I just, I feel like, I mean, there's other characters like that too. I think Diddy Kong is another character where if Tweet doesn't have all of the tech on deck and you got to watch Tweet play like more of a Smash 4 style Diddy Kong and just more basic than it's just not you're, you're not going to have the advantage going into it. There's a lot of or peach peaches, another character where if you're not well practiced going into the event and you're just like, damn, I haven't played this game in months. I don't know. Like you're probably just going to get shit on. Let me interject and let me pose a question then and I'll give light the floor on this. So okay, we have we have admitted that light has not really played or practiced since supernova.
Okay. Charles has validated why that was not a good reason. Cosmos is vindicated and why he was right about it. Don't go to this event. So my question is why for the last month, haven't you been doing your job? Okay. For one, you just sound like a fucking Twitter comment. It sounds like you literally just wait on Twitter and decided to like, let me leave the comments. I was going for it. Okay. A better fact, well, address one of the Twitter comments that I saw because apparently I'm just being lazy, right? I'm just being a lazy fup. Well, okay. I have one of the higher count. Other top players, I probably have one of the higher counts for a tentative event this year. Let's get that out the way. Sure. Keep in mind that is one of the higher counts for I have one of the higher counts even though I did not attend for the first two months of this game because I had home problems. So even with not attending for the first two months, I have one of the higher counts. I went to five events in a row.
I went to Mexico, Texas, a local event, supernova, and Toronto, five weeks in a row. The week I got back, I went on my anniversary trip. The week after my anniversary trip, that was basically a week and a half actually. So that was like a week and a half. The week after that, I had to go to Connecticut. Right? The week leading up to this event, there was nowhere to play. The local that I go to that's next to my house. That place was closed for like a month and a half. Pog is two hours away from me and I don't play online. There wasn't really anywhere to play in that time period. I was saying it for like a week that I didn't have enough time to prepare. Sorry that passed my five straight weeks of traveling. Not going to my local five straight weeks of going, no, actually six straight weeks of going on a plane. Not just going to my local.
I'm literally taking planes everywhere for over a month. And you're asking me why I didn't practice. I was practicing and I did well at all those events except for one. Even not, there's not a terrible placement, but I did well at all those events except for one. You Twitter, comment, pussy. What's that one? Go to Twitter user. Smith? Yes. Yes. I swear to you sometimes I think about it. I'm pretty sure that's just my brother on a smurf account. On the burner dude. Yeah, my burner. I know which comment you're talking about by the way and I immediately said, it's funny enough, actually, I don't know why he shows. Maddenly saw that time. It was my brother talking about him and he's like, why the fuck do you know about this? Yeah, why do you have my comment section? So he showed me it and I was like, honestly, it kind of feels like the guy is,
because it's not a meme, your Smith comment is pinned to your Twitter account. Still. So I feel like oftentimes people try to show on you, trying to have their moment like that, hoping that they would get to you to get pinned like that. And a lot of them just forget the like, actual recognition of that Smith gave you, like, you got it. This motherfucker didn't say none of that. He was like, bro, it's all you. You're fucking up. Stop fucking up. That's it. Like, that's it. So it's like a lot of them just are just attacking you just because. And that's it. Hoping that they'll be like, yeah, this will make him do better. Yeah. Pretty good way to put in it. I'm not going to lie, dude. I didn't even know you went to this event because I started watching the bracket. And then I was like, I was like, okay, I'm about to watch top eight, right? But I was working right. So I kind of picked and choose which matches I watched. So I'm going into top eight. Look at the top 24 bracket. I'm just going through randomly. Oh, I guess Paris didn't go. Well, you know, that's 26 brackets.
He was right. Yeah, I don't. 25 is 25 is OD. You're so fucked when it comes to rankings. Holy shit. That's exactly what I was telling. Dude, I'm he so fucked in a puller. I guess 25. 25 is real. 25 is rough. Holy shit. Bro, my brother hit me up. I know I say this negative stuff a lot. My brother is one of my biggest supporters. By the way, my brother is the reason I started going to Tornado. He took me to Genesis like when he did play it like. Yeah, that being said, that nigga is also one of my biggest ops. I don't care. It pisses me off. He hit me up. Fresh after my loss. And said, no more excuses. You got to find a way to practice at the end of your job with the emoji. Fuck that nigga. Bro, I played for five weeks. String me. These are phone fall down the stairs. I wish it did.
This game is just game is trying. Bro, I hate people. It's like, bro, I'm telling you, you can, I literally, out of all the events I went to, I missed one top eight in that five weeks band. I missed one top eight. And I do bad at this event. And I said, I haven't practiced into like why haven't you been practicing? Because I have a fucking life. Other things happen. I mean, the only thing is like, I'm not going to say it's not fair. But it also is fair to say why haven't you been practicing it your job. And the reason why I'm going to say it's fair is because the debate of a real job versus well, obviously, it's a real job, but like a standard job versus this kind of job. You have to go type of stuff. Yeah. Like, if you, if you are like, oh, I'm not going to work because I have a life, mother is going to be like, nigga, put the prize in the back. You, you got to get to work anyways.
So it's like realistically, it's a valid excuse, but it's also a valid argument. Like, nigga, you still got to practice at the end of the day. You got to do your job. However, one of the privileges of my job that's high tension, always competition because you know, working at McDonald's is in the competition. You know, the high values of competition is when you're performing well on end. Instead of asking why I haven't even practicing, it probably would have just been smarter to have not attended the event. And that wouldn't have been a question. Why didn't you? Yeah, I think the better thing is to say, there's employee of the month at regular jobs. All right, don't be sleeping on the competition. There is a competition. There is a competition. Like, he, there is a person who wants to know about how to put stars next to people's names. I'm not sure if you're like a bonus. I'm a former Wendy's employee of the month. When you went to the ballroom. PR. When he's PR. When you wind that up playing the month and it's just like, what do I get? You get a free bacon and cheese potato.
Okay, my point is I could have just simply not attended because I knew it wasn't ready. The whole why haven't you been practicing? I feel like the better question of why haven't you been practicing is rather why, like, why did you go? Right. I think it's a combination of both. I'm sure you could have squeezed in some practicing. I'm pretty, it's a little bit of both. I did. You could probably could have squeezed in more. You probably could have squeezed it. But you also could have just gone on my vacation. I was like, literally on my anniversary trip. I was playing like 50 stocks like every other night. Right. Right. It's not playing a person. It's not going to your level. So let me actually ask you. Let's let's be real for a second. Talk to you. With my local that was closed down and the other local that is two hours away, I do have one local in Boston. I could go to that on Thursday sometimes. I probably could have gone to probably one of them realistically with the schedule I had. Because again, I was leaving the state. I wasn't near my local. The only person I could have played with was myself, which I was doing.
Who was I going to practice with? Was I going to be like, oh, babe, you want to play Nine Swiff Game and Watch? This is going to get me ready. I was only with my girlfriend for most of my time. Who was I realistically? Like, I think people are taking it as like he wasn't touching the game. No, I was touching the game. I just didn't play with people. You're just not playing with people that can zero to death you. Yeah. When you go to your locals, I need to play with people that can zero to death me. I could play. I could go to my, matter of fact, but zero to death me. I fucking love the fight with my box. When you go to your local, you get to fight people that zero to death you. Yes. I try to deviously kill you at 20 to 30%. That's what you need. You have to go through that. Yeah, I don't know why you just assume I live at the loft. Like I don't fucking. Like I don't have. I think there's no more bro. Yeah, I don't have like, practice partners. Like I was like, I would literally be sitting here playing 99 stocks and look at my girl. Like, yeah, I'm not ready. Like this Lucina CP was breaking my shield a little too much.
Like, yeah. Well, I think again, it's just a combination of both. You might have been able to go to one more local, but was would that one more local have like gotten you better results? Probably not. So I think at the end of the day, it's probably what it was. You shouldn't have got because I heard you were up on Gacked. I was going to ask about the Gat game. I was I know you went game five with this. This I think his name was Storch from North for South Carolina. Pretty decent. It took me five games to realize he was camping me. Wow. And I'm not saying that in like a, oh, like, haha, took me five games. No, I mean, like my awareness was so low that it took me five games to realize he was camping me. When you enter an ultimate bracket, everyone's camping you grow. Yes, but it's different. From going. There's like, there's people who are lost. Yeah, that's like if you're Fox, honestly. But like, there's people that's people like, I don't know, I can do what getting camped when I'm playing at my best. And I could literally, it sounds weird. Like I can autopilot, like just not really think about what you're doing.
Because I'm just like that much better. I'm in a flow state, but I wasn't really playing. So I was like, holy shit, this guy's untouchable. What is he doing? And I'm like, he's just literally fucking doing nothing. You know, I don't know. I also think, and I was saying this, in a few days ago, with me, I think there's a difference between playing good and being bracket ready. Because if you're playing good, that's fine. But you also need to be in the mentality to have the confidence to make like certain decisions, certain like approaches, do certain things that like could be a little risky. And I think Fox is like, number one at that. Like you need to have confidence to play Fox. Like, oh, I need to run up and grab this guy in a corner and throw him off stage. But if I miss this grab, he's going to throw me off stage and I can die at zero. Right? Right. And that situation happens a lot as Fox. And I don't think I was mentally ready to make those decisions. Because after I lost, after this to get to your talking about.
In general, the entire bracket, I was in confident in making decisions. You know, like every decision, like I noticed it while I was losing versus Apollo, okay, I was like, but I am literally just full-hop spamming because I'm like too. I just don't know where you were. Were you in that, were you in that mode where you're like very diligent? Is the word maybe where you're like, you're like watching yourself playing, you're watching yourself fuck up and you're like, oh my god, I see myself playing so ass, but I can't do anything about it. Yes. And you know what's crazy? And like the last 10 seconds, 20 seconds of me playing AK, I just start playing like wildly different. I had the kill confirm on AK. I hit him with the nair on game four to um, to win. I hit him with the nair, I dashed up, I did nothing, and then I panicked, so I tried to grab him. And then he spot dodged an F tilt and me and I died. Damn. Wow. Yes. Like I was just, like I literally had the kill confirm. I think he knew I had the kill confirm because like when he won, he was just like, good games. I'm really sick of that, no. It was like good games. It's like, yeah, jeez, man.
But like, um, yeah, no, I just wasn't comfortable to make decisions. And like literally the moment I lost, like I also said this thing last week. This is one of the benefits of uh, losing at a major. Like if you, if I lose by the time the events done, I'm going to be good again because I'm going to play with all the top players, right? So in my fine setting, yeah. Yes. So like the moment I lost literally the same setup I lost to AK on, I sat there for like six or seven hours and I just played with, I played with Dormiggy, Akola, Rauru. I played with Sansora. Some people asked for money matches. So I just did that. But I mainly played with top players and I just, I played with Kola. Kola walked up in Money Match Me. That was funny. Um, yeah, I played with Kola. So I like, I'm good. Like I'm good. I just need to enter a few more brackets, but I'm playing very well right now. And that's like the positive outcome, but I just don't think it's worth like the rank decay or the rank going down.
Yeah. Yeah, because like on this podcast, we're not shy about criticizing all rank to a couple of things. You know, they make it notes like, I can't wait for this nigga to get knife. Oh, he gave us 25. Like Randall from recess. You know, they're not. Oh, not Randall, dude. Randall 25 light. Oh, all right. Let's make it 31st week. Upon Kola game 17. Bro, I, bro. If you're too young to get the reference, Google Randall from recess. Bro, these things Randall's fucking off. Mrs. Fusecuse. Bro, honestly, I can't write how much my friends had me crash out of this event. Because you're like, why do you care? The ranking doesn't matter. And I'm like, you're a sponsor. Yeah. Dude, that's real though. Listen, what? What? Listen, my trust me. Start listening to me because I've got your best interest in heart. I'm all about the bag now. I'm Charles broken. Pleasant leads you to the bag.
I'm all about that shit, but I'm trying to protect your bag. So anytime I'm telling you something, it's literally in your best interest. Can I get you to replicate the drag and I picture like with the bag on you? If I will change that to my Twitter profile picture. Oh, I do that. What? Yeah, that was the bad. I got to get the dragonite, like leather, nice little leather bag. Yeah, if you get like the leather satchel and you take a picture, I will change that to my Twitter profile picture. I'll let you know, bro, I'll cook something up. Yeah, but uh, aside from, you know, obviously, I mean, you know, obviously it sucks, but you did get something good out of it. I'm glad you got all that practice. People were like, then he's probably like changing his flight right now. I was like, he probably is, but he's gonna play. He's gonna, he's gonna play first. Oh, I love that part out. I changed my flight in the same seat that I lost at. And then I played for six hours. There you go. Yeah. I'm nearly, I mean, like credit card out. I was like, hello customer surf. Yeah. Okay, realistically, realistically, I didn't see any benefit of staying.
I lost at two o'clock. I was going to get all the practice I needed in that 24 hour venue before my flight. I didn't leave on Saturday. I played for like eight hours. You know, actually, I didn't even stop playing because I want to. They kicked me off the set up. So I stopped playing because I was playing. They had the 24 hour section, but then they had another section, which is where they had the bracket matches, right? Yeah. And that was next to the side stream. That's where I was playing. I like playing in areas like that because that's where the top players are going to be. You know, the top players are going to be waiting by the stream. So I don't want to go play at the 24 hour sections where it's just a bunch of people having fun. I want to go play where the top players are. So I sat there, played for hours, and then they were like, they were like, all right, you got to get up. Oh, it's like, okay, man. And they took, they literally like, they didn't kick me off to like play a set up. The tournament was like over for the day. They took the set up away. Yeah. Yeah. Makes sense. Well, I'm glad you got the practice out. What did you, I mean, obviously, maybe didn't get to see as much because you were traveling home,
but what did you think about the results of the event like in general? Predictable. Predictable. Okay. Super predictable. I knew Tweek was going to, I told you, I knew Tweek was going to do very well this event. I knew Tweek was going to lose to a cola. I knew it didn't matter between who won between Dormi and Sonix because I knew both of them were going to lose this week. Man, most people would say, I'm pretty good at that. Yeah, I was going to say, oh, I did I say, Karam or to say Sonix. You didn't say either. They said that's what you said. That's what you said. Dormi and Sonix and Dormi, you're like, you're either one of them on the week. I was going to say the only one that was not predictable to me was Karama. Obviously, Karama doesn't come a lot. However, I will say I've been saying this forever. Mario's broken. I love that Karama is good at this game. And I know he doesn't attend a lot, but I forever think Mario's broken. People who think Luigi is better than Mario are on crack. Luigi has so many fucking problems. And I think people just don't capitalize on it enough. We'll talk about Luigi later. I got some thoughts on Luigi later. But Karama was fantastic.
I mean, he three-oed hurt. He beat Serup. I think it was game five, but he beat him as well. Got him said, winter size top eight. I mean, he ran into a bus on Tweet because Tweet just doesn't lose the Mario's. But aside from that, I mean, he was one game away from beating Sonix as well. Bro, I did. Chirona, you can't get the food for that game. That game four was a heart breaker. He's zero to death. I'm like, oh, you got this bro. I need to lose. Yeah, Luigi's off rent is way more polarizing than Mario. Like Luigi can kill you. And it's not just the zero to death specifically. No, you can kill you off rising fare. Like literally. He can kill you. He can kill you off of a rising aerial or a grab. Like, so the combination of I can kill you off burst aerial, like rising aerial or grab at like this percent, this percent, this percent, this percent. It's just so crazy. And grab is online your entire stock. Yeah, it's like 0% your dead at 30% your dead at 50% your dead at 80% your dead at 100% your dead at 120.
You can probably still get down throw cycling and you'll die. So it's like, you can just never get grabbed from this character. And it kind of I, I want to call those into grabs. Yes, from burst aerials, like rising aerials and so like just, I've seen like rising fare into like, upair, like falling upper or falling, instead of like doing a narrative pop up and doing like Falco combos, like melee Falco pillar combos, you go into something like a down tilt into grab. It's just so. Yeah, grab down. Downs like grab down so grab is crazy. Zare is a grab Mario. Mario doing none of that shit. Like I think Mario is more way harder. I just think where the game is at in terms of even if I could argue Mario is better because you might have a better neutral spread like in terms of just like, Oh, your neutral versus the cast might be better, right? I just don't think that's enough anymore. I just don't. Strong neutral care. I just think specifically for what your entire discussion was
regarding like after Genesis, like like Luigi is better in the current meta and in the current game. Yeah, because Luigi literally like follows he is the flow chart character. He's like, if you're here, I'm going to go for this. If you're here, I'm going to go for this. You have to fight against this. The problem is for Luigi with me is like, obviously Luigi's terrible for Fox, but I still see glaring weaknesses to Luigi that Fox can exploit. Like his terrible aerial drift and his terrible game off stage and his he has like non-existent leg options, right? And I feel like as a Fox main in a terrible matchup that I can still exploit that. And I feel like a lot of people who fight Luigi just don't take the time to learn all the exploits versus Luigi because it's not a losing matchup for them on paper. I feel like that's a common thing in general. I feel like people will just naturally take less time to learn matchups that are that like they could learn just because it's not that unfavorable for their character. And I feel like just Luigi is so exploitable and there are so many characters that can do it way better than my character can,
but the player is just aren't doing it. Like I want you to be right. I want you to be right, but I just feel like we live in a world where I love watching a top eight. And obviously there's certain characters on bias towards, right? Like I love to see Tweet and Paris duo. I love to watch Diddy Kong and Fox because I mean there's a bunch of other characters on this list too. But essentially like any neutral based character where it's like wow, they're winning neutral a lot and then they have these like little bursts but it's not zero to death vibes and they can push their advantage. They'd be really clean without getting reversaled and you're seeing multiple reps of interactions and I just feel like that takes more effort than just being like, okay, and I'm not trying to say that anybody that plays these types of characters like Luigi's and stuff that they put less effort into the game. Like everyone's putting the same amount of effort but I just feel like when your strategy is so focal pointed into like, okay, there's these group of moves
that I can hit and I just kill my opponent and they can put all of their focus into just executing where I feel like other players they have to split their focus into how they're playing like their neutral execution because their neutral execution is a bit harder whereas some of these other characters, oh, my neutral is not as hard to execute but my combos are a bit long and you know, I have to react to certain dIs or whatever, right? So they can put more of their focus into just cheesing the shit out of you or killing you really early and that just yields what it feels like to me, it just yields more results but that's why when I'm watching ultimate, it just feels like there's certain characters where I'm like, man, I'm automatically rooting against you just because I just don't like that type of smash brothers. You know what I mean? And not to say that it is not smash brothers but I just feel like the power creep of this game has gone to the point where it's just like, man, if you're not doing like minimum zero to 80, like character kind of trash, you know what I mean? It isn't smash brothers. Like, I mean, if you go compare it to every other smash game,
I think this is the least neutral heavy smash game. I don't know, 64, there's a lot of zero this but I also don't know too much about 64 but melee, melee punish game is pretty crazy but melee also is crazy defensive. Yeah, crazy defensive options. Brother invincible on ledge and they fucking, they get up in a way where they carry that invincibility for a second. Like, yeah. And then there's like crazy SDI techniques and like, arms attack and shit like that. I think the defensive part about melee when he gets pushed, it's really sick. But I mean, there's also just like, Look at Fox in that game, bro. Like, he can't snap the ledge and he's the best character like. Yeah, but his recovery is still pretty good comparatively to the rest of the cast, right? Oh, yeah, because they can't snap the ledge. They're in here and he got a side B. Yeah, but like, right. I mean, just like, I think it's still a neutral heavy game though. I think it's a very neutral heavy game. Yeah, no, I agree with you. And I think with Luigi Mario too, like, you know, Krona did great. But Krona's a great player. We just had a Luigi. We'll talk about later just win a major in France over some
or pair wherever it was. Loukey. Yeah, Loukey won that. So we'll talk about that. But I have a question before we jump into anything else. Did a cola secure rank one? Is it done? It's the way so. I, yeah. I don't know what happens to Japan to know that. Okay, well, he won. Yeah, I'm a super major in Japan as well. Is the cola just capping and only going to very few events? I mean, yeah, things he goes to. Like, I will give him credit. The things he goes to those hard, hard events. You got runner from the smoke like door, meaning no offense door. Yeah, well, I will say that as consistent. I still think that goes on what I said before. I mean, I never said these players were bad who don't go to a lot of events. I never said that. They're at the top because they're good. But I still think you should go to more events because if you don't, like, people should get more chances to be able to beat you. Yeah, because they shouldn't be getting gate kept because you only go to a few and do well when you do. I think that's why I mean, I think that's why me. I got six o'clock in top eight. He didn't want to game.
Yeah, I will say a cola got a very, very good bracket. What was his bracket path? Because his bracket path was before. Okay, so going into top 24, it was Luis. So it was Omega Luis. So he three won Omega, then he three owed Luis. Yeah, and then next was to get in the top eight, three over Raru, which I think Luigi versus Steve is heavily favored for Steve. And then three over me and I know he's been doing pretty well versus me as a recent, right? Yeah, yeah, me as it wasn't like 10 sets. And then in the twigs, I was never beating. Never beating. So yeah, yeah. Okay, but counterpoint, who would have been a bad bracket for a cola? Dorimig. Dorimig or Sonix would have been, I think, the best. Dorimig and Hurt are probably the two players. So just, yeah, I would say Sonix and Hurt, because there's no world where Dorimig and a cola are on the same side of bracket, right? Well, if they met in the winners finals. Winners finals, yeah.
I'm just like off the top of my head, but yeah, if we're not, if we're excluding Dorimig because that only happens in Winners finals, then Sonix and Hurt. Yeah, okay. So basically, the only scenario where a cola has a quote-unquote bad bracket are people that he would not fight until top eight. Okay. Yeah. Yes. Well, I mean, technically, what's he, were you? Because I mean, you could have beat him too. I mean, I mean, but it's not a, even if that was the case, actually, a lot. No flame out with a cola. Yeah, I would bet a cola too. Oh, man. Yeah. I mean, yeah, I was going to say, even if that was the case, I played with a cola. I played a lot with a cola. We were actually going back and forth until the end where he's like two or three. Yeah, I would say, I would say people two be him. Go ahead. I was going to say, even in a world where that were the case, I mean, I would take a cola over me way more because that matchup is dog shit. Yeah, I mean, how was, are you doing the quarter circle DI, the Gamer quarter circle DI on the Jebs, bro? That's shitting me. That is real. Oh, my God. Why is no other fox making fucking doing it then?
What other fox made me grow? Do we really have to go over this? All right, we need to go over this. All right, let's go in training mode, right? When this episode's done. All right, try to put your money in your mouth. All right, but yeah, I would say that there's there's door media. There's door media. There's door media. There's Sonic's. There's me. I could have beat him, but I know he's been beating. A cola's been beating him recently, but door media, Sonic's, Zamba. And hurt would probably be like the four to be. Yeah, Zamba's a good poll on that. Yeah, I was going to say, I think I might swap out Zamba for Sonic's because Sonic's lost his soul. Yeah, and Sonic's sorry. I think I might swap out, swap out, or Sonic's first for Zamba. But I would keep Sonic in there too. I mean, yeah, he could beat him. He lost his soul, but he could still beat a cola. You never know. It's just, I don't know. The way that I was talking to Sonic's play and the way I was watching a cola play, I was like, I think a cola was just like, it didn't seem like he could lose that to Warner. Sonic's don't think there's a lot of people.
I mean, not to his standard, I don't think. Even at a four for a fifth place finish, it's still a... Yeah, I mean, it's still pretty solid, but he was SD in like a lot. I was like, damn, and holy shit. Sonic's is a victim of, I mean, he lives in DR. He's not going to get as much practice as other people in terms of offline. However, he plays a character that's execution is safe enough to still get top eight. I don't like the risk reward for Sonic's playing bad is not really that high because we're playing Sonic, you know? Yeah. But when it gets to the people who are on your level, the risk reward is very high because they're going to be able to punish you for all the things you do wrong, right? But yeah, I mean, Sonic doesn't get, or Sonic, the character doesn't get punished that hard. Like the only thing you can really exploit is the weight, right? That's about it. You might get a 80 or 90% with Brage kill or whatever. Going back to a cola real quick, I mean, obviously a cola is amazing, but it just goes with Steve as well. It's like, I just don't know who the f***ing is. I mean, Steve as well. It's like, I just don't know who the f*** is
stopping a cola this bracket or then who we named. Like, again, the hard bracket that you guys explained are people that he would either fight in top eight or around before top eight. It's like, it's not even a guarantee any of those people would win. Because he's playing Steve. They're not bad matchups. Yeah, you know? Also, I thought more about who would you want to win? Yeah. But that's f***ing sucks. I was going to say the craziest part is he tried so hard to keep a straight face after that. But I was going to say that just no bad matchups. Like, nothing here is bad. And you said who's going to be number one? It probably is a cola because he won Cogger Rebe, which was a SP. Go, I don't know that SP tier. For Dupor S. Yeah, super. Yeah, super. Whoa, oh, damn.
Bro, yeah, bro, one like a DDR like difficult team. Yeah, I think a cola's got number one locked up. It'll be interesting to see where everything is. This is not even on topic. This is not on topic, but bro, Zeta has a cola. They have Raru. They have T. I know they have. They also have Hakeda. They got five players, bro. They need to put B on that bitch, bro. Okay, to Japan. Okay, so actually funny that you mentioned that because let's talk about that real quick. Do you think they're getting paid? Ooh, that's a good question. I have no idea. I have no idea. That is something I thought about. Yeah, I think that's what I'm saying. Watch and he didn't give me any space or anything, but what he did tell me about Japanese esports is that he said that. Japanese esports is essentially catching up to American esports. Interesting.
So like back whenever that was like, um, that was 2024. It's like two years ago. Okay. So he said one thing that I remember that he told me was like, yeah, so essentially whenever a lot of people were getting sponsored. Um, by teams in America getting big esports team sponsors. It would take like three, four years, two, three, four years for Japan to get to that point where they can sponsor Japanese players like that. So we're basically in the era where like, I would believe since they were backed up. Now it's at the time where Japanese esports is like flourishing like American esports was back in the day for smash. So I don't know if they're getting paid, but I know they're at the very least like being supportive and going to events. If you had a 50 50 yet, like if God asked you, what do you think? I don't think there's any scenario where a goal is not getting paid because he's the best player in the world. Think about it like this. Let me interject something just from my, my knowings of esports and dealings.
Obviously, we know the anti-gambling laws in Japan prevents them from winning money in events. However, if they are put on to those teams as employees or contractors, they can receive a monthly, you know, stipend or payment allowance. Of course, and reimbursements for the trips that they're taking or they simply just book them. I'm sure that at least three of those players you named are receiving some sort of financial aid as well as assistance with traveling to events. Let's say rip tie. Hey, we'll cover your entry fee and we'll give you guys a hotel. Sure, our team will cover the flight. I mean, I'm pretty sure, like at the end of the day, we could probably like, you know, just Shamwile, Naaru or Watch to tell us or have one of the players. It's kind of interesting this way though. That's what it is. I like the, you know, I'm saying the unknown aspect of it, but I think they're receiving some sort of compensation. On top of that, even if we did know, we would never say it on this podcast. Correct. That's true. That's for you to find out. That's for you to find out. Am I the only one who feels like a cola is the only player in the world who knows how to play Steve?
I think a cola is the best Steve player by far. And then on top of that, a cola pushes the tech by a lot. Like there was one of the games that ended versus tweak that he did up tilt into Nill diamond forward smash. And I was like, man, even if that wasn't true, that was probably a scenario where tweak would have had to guess. And I don't know if the maybe the forward smash caught a jump or maybe. But like situations like that is where diamond starts feeling a bit more scary because even. Even when I was watching, I was like, man, diamond does suck, but I feel like diamond just sucks at the point of where diamond backer kills you. And it's actually getting combo there was a handful of scenarios where gold is just way better, man. There's one ladder combo white when I saw a cola get the up tilt with gold pickaxe. I was just like, he's dead because you're just going to keep. Diamonds, cold versus diamond. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. And it's just you see the up tilts. You see the chain of Nill up tilts into the Nill up smash.
You die at like 80 or 90% if you're not like a mid weight character. I'm going to get obliterated by that. So I think there are steves that have pieces of what a cola has where it's like, oh, this Steve is super technical or oh, this Steve has really good fundamentals, but I just feel like a cola is the entire package and has the clutch factor to where you can clutch out some game five and stuff like that. He's all the pieces of the exo to your first. Like he's just like the complete yet to your point complete package. And I think that's like that's just the difference between him and everybody else. It's not like we don't think Carmelo is a great player with Steve or same with syrup in general and you know, I mean, but there are levels to this and the man's on the highest one for reason to keep. He keeps winning. Yeah, bro. I feel like other Steve's you're like this guy's just a camping motherfucker and it's so annoying and you see a colo. It's like, yeah, he's can't be, but like this dude could box you. Like he has the top player intuition to box you. Yeah, also knows.
Also knows when to just do the omega degenerate shit too. It's not like a colo is like, oh, well, I only do like the super technical stuff. And I'm not just going to spam forward smash. It's just like, no, a cola is going to be like a cola knows when he can get away with the dumb shit. And I think a colon knows exactly when he needs to use my car into anvil and to back air. Yes, which is all the time. Well, I mean, there's just a lot of scenarios where a colon knows like you can't really do shit versus this unless you read me and then if you hard read me, you get one aerial and that's it. And then I'm going to go back to like he plays the risk word very well. And it's so is agonizing and draining to watch, especially if you're rooting for the other player, which most time you are because it's just, I mean, usually it's most people are rooting against Steve because Steve is so strong. And a colo just has like if any player just keeps on winning more people are going to be rooting against the players. It's just natural and that doesn't even really matter what character you're playing right. So yeah, I just I think he's on a whole nother level, man, and the conticity shows that's the a cola factor, the
a cola effect, whatever you want to call it. And I look, I know we have a lot of people watch our podcast. You're probably thinking yourself like man, I want to be a player like a cola. I'm not a master Steve, but I just can't get listen to me. It doesn't start with the hands. My friends, it starts with the minds. And I want to talk to you how to get your mind right with our friends at better health because this episode is proudly sponsored by better health. Okay, listen to me. I've seen a lot of players come and go and the ones that stick around are the ones that are strong and can handle what it takes. But sometimes you can't handle alone. So what do you do? You talk to a friend. Okay, if you could wake up tomorrow and be better at one thing, what would it be for me personally, it would just be life in general. Okay, I can be vulnerable. I can be confused, but I can also be accepting of the fact I need somebody to help what a brother needs. Okay, and our friends at better health, they are here to serve you and do just that better help is the feeling defined by you. And for better help, it's a better help therapist who really gets you. It's a focus on global emotional well being with thousands of therapists and millions. And I mean millions of members in over a hundred
countries. Okay, it's progress and it's getting better. All right, like me personally, sometimes I don't want to wake up. I don't want to do these pockets. I don't want to stream. But that's what I think for myself like damn do I want to do better or do I want to do worse? You know, I want to do great. You know, I want to do better. I can do better with better help. So if you guys want to do better to sign up and get 10% off at betterhelp.com slash lights out. That's better. H-E-L-P dot com slash lights out. It'll help you with your mental too when you read those comments. Yes, D playing some. Hey, we're back. How you guys doing? I think everybody here knows better help is fantastic. We agree? Yes, sir. I need better help to make that decision for me on what I should have what that's true. Yeah, you should have called up better helping been like. I was looking for them last week, bro. I was about to help you. You were like, you were like, take the ad read. But I was going to say I think a colas assuming the next game's fund isn't good. I think a colas like the number one player in my eyes are going to be on in the next game. Not like an always going to turn ship. I just think he actually is fundamentally sound. So like he is. I'm wondering to see like what's he going to do?
It's interesting because we know just from experience from ultimate. The gold right like whenever I think of year one of a new smash game. Our biggest sample size is ultimate because we it was the most competitive. There's the most amount of players and we know tweaking Leo were kind of. I would say that there wasn't like a huge gap, but those two players were very, very consistent at the beginning and then Leo started. Yeah, we're pretty close. Just crazy. At the end of that, it was definitely more so Sam Sora, but yeah. Yeah, Sam Sora started closing the gap. Yeah, and it was actually number two at the ending. He was. Yeah, it was Leo. It was Leo and it was Leo. Yeah, I would say it was Leo Sam Sora who were like beginning Leo tweaked ending Leo Sam Sora, but Mars was also doing really good, but tweak was his demon like easily. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, I don't think I could be wrong, but I don't think Mars has a set on tweak and ultimate.
Tweak's just that character specialist, bro. It's so weird seeing modern day tweak because I mean he's just back then he wasn't back then he wasn't. What do you mean? I mean, tweak being a character specialist is post COVID pre-COVID. He was a counter picker. No, yeah, he was. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I mixed up meanings. I mixed up meanings. I was like, no, he was a counter picker pre COVID. He's a character specialist now to be seeing tweak as a character specialist is weird because he was a counter picker before. He was also a piece of shit in Smash 4 because he was a counter picker with like the best characters in the game. You know, some people say this is Tweak's delayed karma for playing bail and cloud and Smash 4. He has to go to Steve. Yeah, I mean, little little did it. Yeah, Tweak. It's so funny because Tweak talks about he's like, he's like, watch, I'm going to be a fucking shitter playing the best character in the next game. I'm like, no, bro, you're too old now. Like you want to play what you like now. Like you're just too old to do that cringy shit.
He's like he's about the PT Wario and Wolf on the thing is I still PT Wario wolf Roy. That's a crumb. I still think in Smash 4 that Tweak actually liked bail and cloud. Like I don't think he just played them because he got lucky. He got lucky because he got super lucky. He liked or very broken and Ocolla is also seems very lucky and it looks like Ocolla is very much so enjoying. He's a young guy. You know, he was playing Minecraft growing up. Yeah, he got so lucky the way he plays Steve and counter picks Sparger with Aegis. He really likes both those characters. Well, at least his main character. He definitely enjoyed. I don't know if he likes Aegis. His main character was Luigi. I have a question for you guys. Cause like I just pulled up the spring 2000 and 19 PGR top 10 rankings. Leo, Tique, Mars, Sam Sores, Chuton, Ally, Debuzz, Nairo, Void, Light. You'll notice there's only one Japan player there. These days it's obviously a complete like different.
Can you at least just say 11 just because 11? Yeah, my boy Cosmos. Oh, man. It only gave me the top 10. You know, now you should have just said who should have been in top 10. Okay, my fault. My fault. Like boy should have. Honorable mention guys, all right. We're like, we're gonna have to have one Japanese player out. You're right. My question though is if you have like five players that we know right now from Ultimate for like the new Smash titles, assuming it is funny, it's heavy. Who's top five leading it to the next one? Well, dude, bro, you just need three canceled fucking players, man. I'm not gonna lie. They'd still be good at the game. Like I'm not saying we're at a clear disadvantage. The fucking Niggas in Japan weren't doing they weren't getting in trouble. I guess I don't fucking know. Like three of those players. They're gods like players, bro. Like if we have the fact that probably be top 10 right now. I'm sorry to tell you. Like you know, as crazy that people were more it's acting me for a like a anime titties on Twitter and then people were praising Zachary for like the anime titties on Twitter. So I think the
spander is just different here in America than it is in Japan. Bro, look at that. Zachary's true like yeah titties. Oh, bye. You see, you fucking see cosplay like you dirty ass. Yeah, I'm not gonna. Somebody. Somebody online. Somebody finally realized that and they made a tweet saying bro, this is literally this is literally like like learning versus harassment. People love this. Yeah, it's crazy. All of us. You say bro, there's no winning. There's that. That's why I got all I got to look out of there, bro. I get it. That's actually hilarious. But yeah, man, I think there's a very strong chance of very strong chance that when the new game comes out, a majority of the top 10 can still like will still be Japan. I just think that a lot of our best representatives are not exploring other options. I think I think I think explore other options forcibly. I think I do think you can be top 10. I don't think I'll be top 10 when the game drops. I do think you can be top 10. I don't think you will be just because of what you said.
I think the majority of top 10 will be Japanese players because they're out severe advantage. And I think there will only be two other players that could be top 10 outside of America. And I think that would be Leo and Spargo and Gluto. I don't think Gluto would would be top 10. I don't think I always I will always believe in gluto. I think that guy is fucking crack. I hate Wario, but I can still acknowledge how amazing he is. It's based on Wario, but it's also like we even know who's going to be good at the next game. It's based on Wario being good at the best. Fox is going to be good. I mean, we'll see. That's what I'm saying for you. I think Fox is going to be good because he's been pretty good in every single game. There's been game for Wario. It's been not great. But that's what I'm saying. Like for you, it's like if you're going to play Fox, I'm just assuming that you're going to play Fox one of the game drops and not trying to play another character. Like people like, yeah, people, Japanese players, they be playing whoever the fuck they want. That's good. That fits them. And then Leo and Spargo, they can play whoever in the game. So yeah. So that's why and sword characters are always going to be good.
That's why I think I generally think there is an extremely high chance. You can quote me on it. And I'll take a side bet $5 that there might there could be eight Japanese players being top 10 and Leo Spargo. Is this like that side bet where hey, if I don't do this, I'm going to start playing Steve. Shut your black ass. I said, I genuinely did I say that? You got you did say that. That's like serious. I'm not saying that's the cause of says the best in the world. But I think when it comes to the next game, we just don't know like you got to remember the lane set people will go to when like the game's fresh like lay it. It's good. So it was like living with like Leo at one point for like a week or two, just a grind. And then Leo couldn't beat him for like a year. Yeah. Now remember that I do remember the straight. Yeah. The lanes that some characters will, I mean, some players will go to to grind it out is insane. So I don't know the problem is, and this is my biggest fear because the reason Japan is so ahead of us right now is obviously how compact it is in the amount of events they have compared to us, right.
We're not spending as much money to get to events all that right. We've we've been through all that right. I don't really know if America is going to be as prominent at the beginning of the new game as ultimate was. I don't know if we're going to have as many events as people think we are because big supporters such as PG VGBC and BTS are they're not coming back. They're still gone. I think we will. I think whenever the game comes out, I think it's going to be like, oh, we got to at least see what can happen if we try to jump back in. So everyone's going to try to get their foot in the door. Yeah, I would at least test the water to see what happens. The three companies I named are their veterans. They're not just like ultimate. I mean, they're not ultimate fresh. They were from other games. So I really hope like whoever's coming out now, I mean, it's probably like if they're trying to stronghold the community, which is not a bad thing, by the way, we made that mistake already. Listen to the police, take over, please. Like if they if they try to get involved with the community to the point where like they're trying to I don't know work with Nintendo, which will probably never happen again or just give us other opportunities.
I really I really do hope someone steps up and does that. Yeah, I agree 100% 100% I won't give you guys. I think what's going on. So for this topic, the infrastructure diff is so huge. You got to remember during ultimate, it was the upswing of North American esports. So we had a ton of momentum. We had all of our top players from the previous game from smash before going into ultimate. And it was also on top. If history repeats itself, I think it's just going to be Japan by far. I do think I put tweak in the same category as bargo and Leo in terms of like when I watch that one to actually I agree watch players play now, even though tweaks a character specialist now, it's like those are the three players I think of that have a extensive resume in terms of like a huge amount of like a lot of different characters. That they win with and I just feel like they're going to be the most flexible. I'm looking at flexibility when I think of who's going to be strong in the very beginning.
And then players like little light, they're more specialized into characters. So it's like it depends on if their characters are good. I think light could find a different spacey. Right. I think that there's a reason. Right. Well, I'm realistic. Right. Right. But I do think there's there's an archetype that you specialize in. Gluto is more of a character specialization. And it's weird. I will say a cola, even though it has a lot of most majority of a cool is wins are with Steve. He has shown like, hey, I can pick up the other cringe characters. He has shown some flexibility. I wouldn't say it's on the same level as a tweak layer or spark. Yeah, but I do see flexibility because it's just like, oh, I'm having trouble with this matchup. I'm playing game watching now. It's like his game watch is so good. It's like, dang, whose game watches better me or his. Also, we don't get to see it as much. But void will probably be top 10 because he's just good at every fucking game that comes out when it comes out.
Boy has a very strong sprint in the very beginning. And I think he will be he will be a contender because he can figure out. He's very good at figuring out what's busted right now and how to abuse that and also like understand the landscape of where everyone else is at. It's like, okay, well, I'm going to do this at this level and invest this much time because I can get my most bang for my book. So I think void will it depends. Void will be a threat if he wants to be a threat. I think. So I just don't know if void wants to compete that much when the next match game because obviously he's going to farm it for content same with Mars. I think Mars is another flexible character or player. But it's like the content farm is so crazy that we could see a repeat in terms of like when we even saw, you know, smash for in the ultimate a player like zero who was ranked one just opted to farm content instead of compete, right. So going into this game, we have the track record of like, oh, hey, ultimate like from smash for ultimate, you can just farm it for content and make crap ton of money instead of competing. We now super, super know that right because in terms of the amount of players that made enough money off of content smash for was very minuscule like a very, very like you count them in one hand essentially that could make a living off of content.
Whereas ultimate is way different, especially in the beginning part, right. If a next match game does come out, everybody knows that you can make way more money doing content than competing. And I also just think the way the place that any esports is right now, I don't know if there's going to be a lot of teams like in the beginning of ultimate that are going to pick up players, right. But the infrastructure in Japan, they already have a bunch of sponsors that are picking up players now in the dying years of ultimate because they can still make a shit ton of money off content because their content is thriving. If they're content thriving now in ultimate, think about what their content is going to be like when the next smash. There are random Japanese, you two rolling in the math that just get a shit ton of views. Yeah, I want to I wanted to push back on some of the stuff. So I'll saw a dog go, yeah, I wanted to push back on something you said though with like the content, great. Like you can make more money. I think in Japan, it's easier just because of how their culture is like, you know, like, hey, if you're just putting out good content, it'll be acknowledged. I even if it's like not like the most entertaining, it's good people acknowledge to see you get more views.
That's the way I look at it, right? Cause I've seen a lot of like random Japanese channels with just like insane amount of viewers and sub just seems like in America. I don't feel like a same way because we have a culture is like, well, you got to entertain me, bro. I'm just clicking off this shit. And there's not enough entertaining people in this community. We're just going to just decided just launch and just be like Matt pile. Look at. But exactly remember X X that nigga was fucking wack, bro. And he was only making views because he was going to like every like pre release some and getting footage and stuff like that. It did not mean like, wack is a person. I mean like the content was kind of like that's the thing is like that you got to have some entertainment value. That's for longevity though, because for the that for the. For the boom of the game, you can really do whatever you want. And you just want to see the game. They don't give a fuck if you're entertaining or not. They'll they'll give you a chance because they're not watching in the beginning for you. They're going to be watching for Smash Brothers. So for Japan, the culture is different. I think you're very right about that. The culture for the content that they do want to watch. They do so watch for the people and they're not like they're watching for for a smash and the people.
But the people don't necessarily have to be entertaining in a way that Americans have to be entertaining because. For whatever show. Yeah, but whenever the game comes comes out, niggas can be like X X and just post the fucking video of screen recording. This is this character and that ship is going to get 100 200,000 views. And even then there there will be a tons of farm of mobfuggers in. Let's say it's called Smash Universe and Smash Universe where mobfuggers are just going to be saying I played this top player. I played this character. I did this in the least math and they don't even got to be entertaining because people just want to see the game. And it'll be like that for at least five to six months. Okay, my my contention is like and I don't disagree with that. But like what are you going to do with that on? It's how are you going to retain that? That's why I say you can make a bunch of money at the start. Maybe depending on where you were as far as like your partnerships and like your branding and how you just have to so at this point.
But are you going to be like two, three years down the line? Are you going to be able to maintain it like an Alfred? Like I want to be like. So I don't think anybody would be able to do that. But I think the point that Charles is trying to get at is like. Two to three years down the line. You're also just as people are not going to be able to maintain their maintain their audience because they're not going to be entertaining. Two to three years down the lines. People also aren't going to be able to benefit as much from the game being as popular for sponsors to pay them. I have a question. So as like you will benefit more from content in general from the beginning. I have a question. When you say that people aren't going to be able to maintain their viewership. Are you saying people aren't going to be able to maintain their viewership just because they can or you just saying that they're not going to be creative enough to maintain your. They're not going to be creative or entertaining enough. But you think it is possible for every. Oh, 1000% yes. Okay. Like we we literally have proof of not just people in ultimate, but in Smash 4. Yeah. Yeah. I mean it is. I mean, it's a I think you you get what you put in. I question people's willingness like, oh, well, like I've got to say.
Like, oh, well, like I feel like maybe the views are trickling down a little bit on this. Like, you know, how do I reinvent myself? Romance can keep spamming the same shit. I think you have to be very creative to be like very long term on YouTube. And you know, that's why I could whenever I do watch prize, I'm always trying to like be entertaining and funny and you know, just keep people invested. I don't know. We'll see what happens. I hope I want this community to thrive and survive. I want there to be a lot of content creators out there because that is good for everybody to collab and stuff. I'll see. Hey guys, I know the first video I'm going to put out when the new smash game comes out. Tell us. No, I'm going to tell you I don't want the idea to be still. It's box good. No, I'm going to put it out. No, I'm going to. Okay. That's the first video. They get I just get to get 500,000 views. No, I it's the first video I'm putting out before the game comes out. Okay. Okay. Like games announced and I'm leading up to it. I got you. We'll talk. And I'm going to make and I'm going to make a new YouTube because I heard new YouTube channels get more retention of they get more eyes on now. I have no idea.
Depending, but yeah, I didn't change it. Yeah. All right. Yeah. I have my YouTube video planned out. It's in my notes right now. I'm not even lying. You should make it right now then. Sure. I have it ready. I could make it right now, but it's also a stream idea. Oh, okay. The double did and then I'm out of ideas. So you know, so they just see me in a year. Fair enough. I have one more topic. I want you guys a penny on because obviously Riftie was we talked about Riftie was fun. It was cool for the most part. But there was another major that happened overseas in France. It was called UFA ultimate fighting arena 2026. Abs and last year was smashed but back this year with a bang. First place of that event was Lugi, the Luigi. Second place was Crapes, Salet now known as CS. It's only CS now. Third place was awesome. I wonder where awesome it was. He decided to go to France instead of America. And you had key kid, the me brawler, the now Spargo and Leo Slayer, pre-Local and main bracket here against Leo.
And he had a flow and Kaleo riddles making an appearance at seventh place and MK Big Boss because he's the world travel. We all know that some noticeable absence from top A. I see Siski at 9th, Tedic at 9th. And then some dude named Ziannix, a Richter player went crazy lost in pools and got all the way to 9th place or shots to him. But did you guys see any of this event here any of the results and any surprises with those results I just told you. And I just know Lugi won so that's surprising. I didn't see the only thing I saw was Leo lose to Lugi game one than I saw watching. That might have been the only thing I saw that he didn't need it at the end. Dude, can we can I need your opinion on something and I'll put it on screen. So Leo lost the Louie. Yes, let me explain this. Okay, because I have so much contention for this and I just want to know if I'm crazy or not. So last weekend Leo was in France. Lugi was at that friend's man. He got a knife at that. Okay, but Leo won that event. Who did have to fight had to fight Rauru two times winners and grand finals.
He proceeds to beat Rauru who I have said I think is the better Luigi. But I think Lugi is the more erratic Luigi. He's more willing to take chances in situations you don't expect. I think that's that's how I would describe Lugi is a very good player. I was watching Leo play and I was just thinking to myself against Rolf flow. He's using ages. He's down to one. He switches to Joker handily wins the next two games against Lugi. He just sticks with ages. He gets into the game five. He even has a stock lead and he just loses and I'm just like. Why would this nigga just not switch to Joker again. They don't have answers for your Joker. Am I crazy? What is this obsession with ages? He's like the Joker versus Rauru and Waka. Yes, he has a chance again. He beat Rauru at the French tournament with ages. Yeah, but does he ever be Rauru with Joker? No, but he uses Joker sometimes like I remember he used to use Joker sometimes like it gets.
I mean, I'm the master thing I guess. It probably just doesn't want to scramble with Luigi, but it just seems like. The Lugi the last time they fought I think just using ages to like why doesn't he just try the Joker here? Is it stubbornness? I'm not trying to criticize my God. I don't want to. I think I think he's I think the one thing Leo is bad at as my smash is knowing what character to pick at the right time. I feel like he struggles with that. I think it's because and sometimes he thinks about characters. And I don't think he just sometimes thinks to himself like well, I am just better. You know, like I think his I think his Joker is just significantly his he just has gotten a lot there that he just used to be dog shit. But now it's so now it's like a top level. He just but even so I think we could all agree that his Joker is better right? So like I think sometimes he just doesn't. Just like I just don't think it's just a dick on the table sometimes you know like this doesn't go like a my Joker's way better.
Let me give it a shot. And that's why he does like some shitty counter pick sometimes. I don't think this should be counter pick though. I think he just beats Luigi. Well, not should be counter picks, but like he doesn't make matches like you should win. But like, Luke is just he's good. He like he lost three one right? Leo. Yeah, so Luigi there was no whole game five. Oh, I don't then it definitely makes sense then. It's those game five definitely makes sense. Leo was a good track record versus Luigi too and just throughout his career. Except for Luke apparently lately the last two accounts like I said, I'm going the way of. I don't like I don't like that. We got to change it up though. We got to change it up. We got to switch it up. I like like point like if you're just better, your soul character will probably win you that. Yeah, he got to go. But it's so hard to win with like to beat the best Luigi with one with ages and then just being like, all right, cool. Now I'm fighting Louie like, all right against this dude.
I'm going to play joke really. It's a question if maybe Louie's better than Rara. I mean, it might be just Louie's better at that matchup. He will craps the lays ass. I don't know how Louie's ever. Wow. He beat the shit out of crazy. How spico's beat just blue and I'm like, how does this happen? You just look at him. You shouldn't be able to be this good. And when I get you off stage, you should never come back because he's like, you know what I mean? It's just so crazy to me. Well, the same volatility of you putting Luigi off stage does not is not even close to the volatility of when Luigi grabs you on stage. That's my thing. I want the game to I want the game so bad to make characters like Luigi. So I want it so bad. But we just live in this reality that Luigi. There's multiple good Luigi's from all around the world and they all get results, dude. And I just don't see that with the character like Mario. Like I want to live in a world where Mario is better than Luigi. Like my smash philosophy.
I wish Mario was better than Luigi, but Luigi just gets all these ones and even these like old. Yeah, I'm back to go America. Like these crazy. They are literally everywhere. There was literally well, there was before I were we gee self-imploded, I guess, but there literally was a relevant Luigi in every like relevant area for smash. Yeah. But yeah, I think in terms of the next game because we were talking about like people who are going to be good and like people who might not be so good. I think it all just comes down to the type of smash we're playing when that game comes out. If that game is neutral based, I think a lot of people who are ultimate players are in trouble. You know who's not trouble. So they're happy. Oh, that guy. Holy moly. I'm watching get his ass kicked by J. J. J's Kirby and K. Flock Zelda and then proceed to get ninth place at a difficult melee tournament beating people like none and OG's kid.
And Josh man. Yeah. Like the dude like I think because I remember you had some concern like Kohler you're going to ruin it for all of us. I think it was a joke. I know this kid I'm just kidding. But I think if Kohler he should like literally talk to Moise and be like, yo, I just want to invest six months straight of just only playing melee. And with I think they said Josh man might be retiring or something soon. Like dude, just put him on the melee express only and let him go. I mean, I think if I'm being real with him, I don't think he has to tell them that I think could like it just do whatever the fuck you want to shop if I will support it. I think he has the potential. I think he has so much potential dude because at the end of the day he is still moist and at the end of the day he's moist founder. Yeah, when you're money man. What did you think? What do you mean? Like in the ultimate did you think he was like playing fire? He won the first money match and then I won the next two. I think he's like six o'clock. I six o'clock out of rage. Because he's like dual you know dual gaming.
It's just it's interesting. I think his heart is currently slightly more I think he okay, this is weird. I think he wants to do better and old than he wants to do in melee. But I think his like okay, he wants to do better and his heart is in all. But at the same time he hates the can be hate what old is like right now. So yeah, blame him. Yeah, he hates what old is like. So he's like melee is not it's always going to be that way. He likes that. Also I'm putting him on the spot. He said it. He was like he was like yeah, melee is a much easier game. Damn, which I mean it's honestly common sense. I don't agree with that. I mean he's the one playing both games at a top level so. I'm telling you, Ben, melee is a harder game to pick up like the intricacies of the game at the top level. That's there's less matchup. It's absolutely ridiculous what you have to learn in melee. It's not easy to learn even when you learn it.
You have to you have to figure out how to use it properly. But it's consistent. I don't know bro. Left and also said that melee was better than harder than ultimate. Yeah, that matters. Yeah, but yeah, but at the end of the day, melee is consistent. Ultimate is not consistent. You deal with so much bullshit every every character even the bad ones have a strong move. The percentage that every character does is way too much damage. Everyone is doing way too much damage. The universal mechanics of all making Bowser do jump back air and that's basically a forward smash. And he has a frame through jump squat. The mechanics of the game is terrible. I'm backer. That's basically a forward smash. Neutral not being neutral not being a like an important concept compared to a vantage state is ridiculous in our game. And the fact that you have to put all your time into learning how to fight DLC to to the point where even though there's like 80 other characters,
you have to know those matches, but you might not be might not fight that character for another year. And then when you do it's the best representative of that character. And you already forgot how to play the match and they're ready to zero death you. Yep, you have your notes on how to play the character, but almost the last time you played the character. You know, and it's like there's just too many there's too many inconsistencies in ultimate. At the end of the day, melee is consistent. And once you're in that top player threshold, you never have to worry about that high level player or mid level player beating you. I have to worry about that shit every day in my life. What? I need to head out. No, no worries. No worries. I'll grab right now. Don't worry about it. Well, I think, yeah, I mean, I just want to give a shout out the call at the grade. I want to give a shout out to Rick. He did for continuing to from everything I hear just put on a great tournament experience and their stream scheduling is great as well. Appreciate appreciate everything they do for the event. Hope it keeps keeps happening. You have a good watch as well. I'm not a good time, man. I had a really good time.
I did like, I think I stream like 31 hours and two days. So I was having a lot of fun watching these events. And a lot of money. Yeah, I didn't do too bad. I didn't do too bad.
