The one-two pitch. A swing and a five-on a deep right going back now, Harper, still drifting. And it's over his head. It's over his head. He misplated. Murphy around third. He comes to the play and he scores. And the brave take the lead. That thought of right just played Harper. He was going back to his right. He was unsure. He was unsure of himself. I'll leave with the last second over his head. And the brave's on top of the stomach. That you forked moment didn't last long enough unfortunately. As the brave saw that lead get away very quickly. Which brings us to a game three today. Can Kate and Shernoff live? We're on the brave's vision set. Right outside the right field gate here at Truace Park. Counting down to 8-15 tonight. That is first pitch. You'll hear it on the fan. On the radio and on our six a to the fan. Mobile app. And our hero has shown up. So we can get out of each other's laps.
Again, all heroes that don't wear capes. Because we're on the brave's vision set. There's a section that is a little bit hotter in the surface of the sun. So we're taking advantage of the opportunity to get some shade. And you guys will be making your way into Truace tonight for a sold out standing room only crowd. Which can we talk about this for one second? I sure I told you. I got to the point where I like I got so bored with like crowd. I got to the point where I like I got so bored with like crapping on fan conversations for years. That this was a talking point again on social media about the MD seats at Truace Park. It's just genuinely funny to me considering a two o'clock start does slow down the opportunity. I know a lot of people gave up their seats because they just could not go. Okay. So I know that's not going to go over big. Because Atlanta is just sports town like has to defend itself. Tonight at 8-15 that place will be fall. They'll be standing room only and it's just a little bit easier to maneuver your day. When you're off of work and the kids are home then the two o'clock Tuesday and Wednesday and I'm just not going to budge off that. It is and I did an interview earlier today back in Philly and just talking around and people they were trying to get me into the well what is the discussion I said look.
They said you know that game would would have been sold out to a clock in Philly. They said okay fine. I said but what can I also tell you that in 2022 in the month of September the Phillies were 11th in the national league in attendance. And then everybody piled on the bedwagon when the team was close to the natural. I said it is. I said don't act like you're like like this doesn't happen in any city. It's a two o'clock start. It'll change for the night. I did see somebody I didn't know this that the Sunday game to close out the regular season against Tampa at a million FDCs and Philly fans were like denying. What was it Noreester? Was it? It was a Noreester. Well it was pouring. It was pouring. If you love your team you know no but the thing is that was a pouring rain. I think the tickets were sold point is people didn't show up these tickets were sold to no I said that's like I said it's an old tire conference. And that's what I had the conversation. I said hey it wouldn't a two o'clock would have been sold out but there you go. All right so Braves yesterday a couple of things in this game that are just a shame. Tyler Malley shoved in a way that I was like I was wondering how we'd handle the stage for the first time in the postseason.
As good as he was in the regular season after a first inning where it was a little bumpy he settled in and I'll like thinking in the fifth and the sixth is this won't get him is won't get him to give you seven innings one run six hits and six Ks I literally couldn't ask anymore at a Tyler Malley who was just awesome. If you want to stamp what Alex Anthopolis did with the acquisition of Tyler from the regular season in the postseason I was it. Well you know that every fan base has their segment of the fan base that wants to criticize the bosses and you talked about it around a week ago. There were people that are going to have tweets on hold waiting to see what he does in the postseason in Tyler Malley would have been like see see. Couldn't handle it in the postseason I thought yesterday early on he'd look like he was going to crack down and then everything came together for him. He eased into the moment got very comfortable and then he was a machine that was super efficient. We also found that he had some sort of an ab issued abdominal issue before the game that he tried to talk down and said wasn't a big deal. Mark Bowman will join us coming up at 5.30 he's had had issues before you are on a roll with bow today.
He tweeted Malley is the first brave picture to allow one runner less in seven plus innings in a postseason game since Max Fried. Did it in 2020 in the wild card game against Cincinnati in the first of that series and also Mike Soroka did it in 2019. So Malley's in some pretty exclusive company. So you hate that that effort was wasted. The pen that has been the strength of this team all year has had some clunks and some bumps in the first two games. There's no way to deny that. Dylan Lee in the eighth inning is going to be what everybody talks about especially if the braves don't win the night with Walt going there. And John I promise I'm not Monday morning quarterbacking this with that decision. Okay that after if any pitched score the sitting in the day before. That's even more reason not to go right back to the same part of the lineup with him. But this is what managers do when it comes to their dudes and their loyalty. I would have gone Dylan Don. I might even got didier and I know I saw what didier did the day before. Suarez is supposed to be a guy that's on the roster for a reason. I just thought you're ignoring too much of data on Dylan Lee to back up one good outing that you had the day before.
Here's what I'm going to go with you on then. First of all I totally understand your point and I'm not I'm not trying to contradict you. But what I'm saying is I am one of those people that if I was the manager I would say dance with what brought me. And I would go over the course of the year. Why am I going against what I've done. And I think I understood what Walt did. It didn't work. It did work. I never expected it to explode like that. I just think you're ignoring a guy who I got it was a bad August. It was it was equally worse September. He really hasn't been himself since June. But we'll talk. Didn't you think you stabilized a little in September? He had a 750 alright. No but I mean it stabilized a little or not. Yeah a couple of that is that we're good. I just didn't think in that and I thought what would go to him. I'm not saying I'm saying you thought right right now. I'm just I didn't like the move. I got you. And he ended up doing it. And I don't think that's money more than quarterback. No I thought that was about it leading up to it. Alright so then there's the Braves offense which had so many opportunities. They leave 11 runners on base including two in that ninth inning. Let me go through a couple of these and these are postseason moments that you just can't miss.
Third inning you're going to lead off walk from the nine hitter and Hassan came in you think alright you're set up. Then Ronnie and Drake strike out Aussie pops out nothing happens. Fifth inning you get a one out double from Murphy. Kim pops up Drake grounds out nothing there. The sixth inning we all know was the beginning where the Braves had an opportunity to put up a big number. Aussie lead off single Olsen K and then you get the Dubie break when it bounces off his punches glove. Then the Riley base hit. What did you think of Watkins not sending Aussie in that moment? He would have gotten he would have been out by I think he would have been out by 15 feet. And even if he wasn't if you're watching where Tommy Watkins is Aussie's not around the bag when Mars has already come up with them all. And Mars I mean look it's a you can say Marsha little hobbled. Yes potentially but there's no way you send him I agree I don't do that. So that one is one I agree on but then you get the moment where Michael Harris who has been one of your best in those spots. The season it's a ground ball right to first first to home back to first which is incredible. And as Barry Gold on Twitter pointed out Michael is only in a three double plays all year none in the second half of the season.
He hit into two yesterday that's baseball baseballing at the worst possible. And that and that one was absolutely just freakish because he smoked he sort of smoked ball and it's right there. It's it happens. It happens. It was a it was great. I only thought they were going to get the one out. And when they get the second out I'm like oh wow. All right let me give you another one in the seventh. The seventh ending is where you get the two gifts from the Phillies where bomb throws the second instead of going to make the stupid mistake on the Bunt. No idea why you get the Harper Miss play in right field which was scored at double. It's the most generous scoring I've ever seen. I'm going to talk today official score about that. I'm telling you okay but here's the moment that was that was crazy. Here's the moment in the ending that's getting for that has been forgotten about. Olson destroyed that ball the left center that he didn't and that he six twenty expected batting ever. So that gets down like it typically does. The bases are cleared it's five one. It's a whole different scenario. But a three one you still felt good at that moment going to the eighth with Dylan Lee. Then you had the eighth inning Austin Riley lead off walk and Harris is up to when the counting against painter.
You think he's in the suit correct and Michael hits into the double play. Correct. The ending was over three pitches later. It's a weird I mean and again you say postseason baseball it's it's the twists and the turns. It's a weird things. There were so many things that the Olson ball was crazy. Yeah he killed it. He killed that ball. So all right the other one was in the tenth inning you get two on two outs. Again I'm nitpicking but it's a postseason we can do it. Okay. I would have pinched run dooby with the Sean Kear sees only here for one reason in theory to steal a base before Michael Harris is up. So maybe that blooper scores Kear see that is somebody more than working back in but I liked the pinch runner option there. And the other one is I don't understand other than loyalty. Why if you're Walt you go to Dom Smith who is again he's been so infrequently used. It's not I'd since made that that was your on the games online with two outs and two on you go to Dom. I agree with with Chris Domingo said in the world famous crossover I would not have pinched it there. Same I would have kept Murphy I would have kept Murphy and do it a piece. Yes he did. He did some of the best at bats at that anybody had yesterday but I just can't even I can't imagine and I also would have pinched run.
Yeah. I also would have pinched run. So the way that game ends there's one big deal. Why do why you have them like there are a couple questions that have for Walt Ways. When you put guys on the roster and I know he's not the only one who decides who's on the roster but when you put pictures on the roster like Suarez and you put guys on the roster that are specialists. When are you going to use that's it. Why like what better opportunity did you have to use them there's a Kiersey but you want to press to try to force the issue. And that was it. Yeah that was it to me that was the opportunity and it was weird is I knew you were I knew in my notes that you were going to question both of those things. And I understood them. Yeah. I understood. Okay but the biggest number for these two teams who are home run reliant. Okay. Philly said three homeers from the eighth to the tenth brave state and a home run in the game just like in game one the biggest moment. The Riley three run home are these two teams. Yeah they might manufacture a run here and there and get a base hit with a runner and scoring position. Largely it's the long ball and the Philly's won that three to nothing in game two. So if you're looking for the key tonight who wins the home run battle or at least gets the big one it probably wins this game.
I challenged somebody back during the season with the Phil's I said okay. I was thinking of the game. There you go said if the Philly's get three hits string three hits together in an inning don't shave until they do it. And this guy I think went nine days without shaving three hits in an inning. Well most teams have trouble doing that outside of like Tampa and Milwaukee. Yes. Three hits in another got walk and then two hits or something like that. Right. That's right but not three hits in an inning. The Philly's are the manufacturers. They're not going to manufacture in club. That's not what they do. Okay so then it brings us to tonight. Ray Kerr is going to be the opener tonight for the Braves. They tried this last week and it was a pretty obvious idea what they were going to do in case they faced Philly with the lefties. That Kerr's arm has been very very live. Like John you would think I'm nuts and I know what wouldn't have done it. I would lean towards Kerr with his arm being more live than Dylan. Even though Dylan has gotten you there. Okay so Kerr to me getting the plane off the ground tonight. I have no problem with it at all. Grant Holmes will be up and ready if you get any trouble. But I want Kerr against the lefties and then the hope is that Grant can give you nine to twelve outs and then you try to figure it out from there.
So the most effective one of the most effective starters in baseball giving you the amount of starts that he has three earned runs or less. Has to have a starter. I don't think he has an opener. I think this is the I you're just trying to neutralize to me. To me that's over thinking. That's just me and that's no look. I'm putting it on the record now at three twelve. Okay that's over thinking that's out thinking the room. I will go on the other side and I like to move. I think it makes a lot of sense. Grant Holmes is fine. I think he's over achieved. His under five thirty five of thirty seven starts. I would say to you that's unfair. I think you're being unfair. His underlying metrics have never been as good as he is. That many can't go on shove. It's starting tonight. Right. But I'm just telling you I like the thought process of starting with Ray Kerr. Then following with Grant figuring out then when you want to go to your next lefty Dylan daughter, whoever, I'll give you one number on Kerr. Okay. Two appearances against the Phillies in September. Six and a third scoreless innings on September third and September 13th.
So in those two outings, I wonder if Walt said I like what I'm seeing there. Grant Holmes has two starts against the Phillies in the month and has also done a good job. Ten innings pitch total. Two runs allowed. So why wouldn't you then give one of them the start? Which I would say be Holmes. Right. And then have the other guys that piggyback option the second option. I know you're not agreeing what you're just neutralizing the lefties. That's all you're trying to do. It might not work. It might blow up in the first and right. Nobody right Kerr might go out and walk the ballpark to start the game. None of us know. But the thought process that I'm being on this, the process makes sense to me for the simple reason of I don't want to orbit and harbor in the first inning facing Grant Holmes. First of all, you're saying the process to a Phillie guy. And now I've got, and now I've got the DT. I've got the shakes. Because that never works out for me. I just think that there's a time. Matt, I think baseball in the last 20 years has found a way to complicate what is a very simple game. All right. Let's look at the other side. The Phillies are starting. Aaron Nola. I don't know if you want to call it a start or an open. Oh no, it's a start.
It's his third appearance in eight days, which is what I want to focus on. He threw 21 pitches on Saturday against Tampa. Give up three hits and four runs. He threw 88 pitches eight days ago. That was three days earlier. And he gave up four hits and four runs and that starts. So he's throwing 109 pitches seven innings in seven days before he makes this start tonight. Maybe that's nothing and he goes out in shoves. But I have to think that it's got to be something that if you're done mattingly, you're watching closely. Well, there's one guy that in his career has had one year last year. When he's ever had any kind of arm issues, he is the literal definition of a rubber band arm. He just, he can throw. He can throw. He takes his 30 starts every single year, 32 starts every single year. And to me, I'm not concerned about that if I'm the Phillies. What I'm concerned about is that this is a guy who's had declining results as far as he gets up the meatballs. Yeah. And what he's going to do is if it's a typical aeronol, it's going to be, there's going to be three innings where he's going to look really, really good. And then he's going to have the RAV4 thinning.
And the RAV4 thinning is a joke. So if you follow Phillies Twitter tonight, it's going to go, uh-oh, here comes the RAV4 thinning, which is a thing on the Phillies broadcast. See, I don't know. It gives up. I wonder if he gets the fourth. Why? Because again, you've thrown this many, these are high leverage stressful pitches. Rubber arm or not, there's a reason why you don't have a starter to throw three times in eight days. Well, what do you think they're going to do if they, if you think they're going to put them in there? When do you think they're going to be able to do that? So I'll say that a Wheeler. So that's the thing, right? Three and a third. The fourth. Okay, okay. And then you go to Wheeler, which I should add on Wheeler. Wheeler at this point is coming off and outing three days ago, re-through 97 pitches. Correct. Against Tampa on Sunday. So again, I said this earlier, I know there's fatalism in the Braves. And he's not a short-rest guide, by the way, Wheeler in his career has never done this. No, he's, and when he is pitched on the shortest-rest of his career, it's not been good for him. But this is the first time I've ever gone on three days. I know. So I'll add this again. I know there's fatalism. I'm with you guys. We've all lived it. So I've had some reasons to be optimistic.
Braves have hit No Lauel. Three starts this year. He's got a 450 ERA. He's allowed nine runs, 17 hits, seven walks, and 18 innings. And nobody wants Wheeler. Wheeler is so good. He might go out and it might not matter. He might be great. But if I'm going to face Zach, I'd like to do it off three days where there's a chance he's not at his best. And that's the scenario that you'll have. And what I just don't understand is that if there's even, if you've even used to say it's going to be No La Wheeler. Was that going to get me to the fifth? I would have- I'm going to add this, by the way. I would have started Wheeler. I would have gone with Wheeler right now. I just emptied the tank on him and then figure out if I even want No Lauel. You don't want No La- No, no, no, no. I can speak to this one. No La- Not comfortable coming in as a- Really? Do we know Wheeler is that? No. Is that Wheeler has said anything? You know Wheeler's fine with anything. Has he done this? Wheeler says he's fine with it. No, I- Saying one thing at the end or dead. Yeah, but you know, one guy who says he is not fine with it. Right. And one guy who says I'm fine with it. But it disappoints me if I'm No Lauel. And I guess you're being honest, but it's supposed to be all hands on deck. Like there's a chance tonight somewhere that the Braves push the Crisale button for an A to or two.
Oh, no, no, no. I just- And I- Comfort is one thing, but comfort gets thrown out the window in again. We'll talk about it all today. Sure. You can't win. He failed on everything else on this show, except for he shot at free food. The king is back to try to win. She shot. She hit her. Chris hit by walk on sports bistro. Walk on sports for the win. Former Atlanta brave Ray King. I think he's going to walk on with me, Matt. Wouldn't he? He would not have to wait for you. He'd go himself. You'd need more cards. Fry's alligator. Are you crazy? It's a sports very sports bar presenting, except you get in there and everything's got this Bayou Cajun gold flair to it and it's all legit. So me potentially Ray King or anyone else who wins a card. Chuck, let me have one of those.
I'm going to hop in over to walk on right after our show before first pitch. Just for all time. Thank you. Okay. Don't you mind me off? One time you asked Colin if he would like drive you to the corner of Cobb Parkway. Do you remember this? I guess crazy. I had a tire being replaced at one of the, yeah, the, the, it would have taken him like 25 minutes to get his car and then drive there. But that's what you wanted. So yes, man, I'm sure that's what you want a card. Yes. Thank you, Charles. Thank you. All right. So our contestants will have a chance to win Chuck's dinner from walk on. So we have three ops for Chuck going head to head with three categories today. Charles, your categories are best of three. Screw the fills. Oh, yeah, after Saints. It is eight week. I just hate that we're forgetting foul constraints as we just all the Braves. But yes, those are the categories. Chuck is headed to the isolation chamber. As we welcome in our first contestant, Raymond, who joins us with concait and turn off on the fan with a chance to win Chuck's dinner. Raymond, how are you? Hey, I'm ready. What's up, Raymond?
Raymond, we're great. So glad to have you on with us. Tell me you've never played this is your first time that will excite me. I played one time in Chuck. Got me. So I got a, I got a revenge. Got lower redemption. Okay. So what do you think happens Braves? Really? Tonight give me the prediction. I mean, Braves are going to win, obviously. Let's go. Is there a chance you, you know, a couple of buddies grab a flight into LA for the weekend series? Yeah, that's not going to happen. No, I'll just look it from the comfort of my house. Understand. Tell me about the family. You have the little ones. You got the wife. What's the setup? Yep. Why you've been a nine year old son that I named after Chuck? Oh, that's right. What? You named him King. I think that's great. All right. Yeah. Raymond, your category options here are either best of three. Screw the fills or oh, yeah, F. I'm going to win the Saints. All right. So I am from Louisiana and I'm a huge fan and a huge old with you fan. I'll say F the Saints because I feel like I probably know something on it. Let's go. Let's cut this guy off and go to our backup. No, I'm kidding. Raymond, let's put 60 seconds on your game clock.
Here's your chance to win, Chuck. Dinner from Walk on Sports East. Oh, yeah. Was the catchphrase from much of a man Randy Savage, also known for telling us to snap into what smoked meat stack. But that's right. F is the stock symbol for what company? The sixth largest automaker in the world. Ford. That's right. Say it ain't so was a hit for what alternative rock band? Also known for sugar. That's right. FTS St. Barrett's is a luxurious island destination located just east of Puerto Rico in what body of water? Caribbean. That's that is correct. Which player has driven in more runs this postseason? Drake Baldwin or Matt Olson? Baldwin. Nah, it's Matt Olson. The All-Star Special is a signature offering at what restaurant chain? What the hell? That is correct. October is the 10th month on our calendar. That in mind, an octagon has how many sides? Eight. That is correct. Raymond, hold on one second. Wow, I like Ray.
Get Charles back from the isolation chamber. Raymond, is that you? Charles, how are you? I'm doing pretty good. Who's the contestant? So you're playing Raymond. Let me tell you a little about Raymond. He has a little revenge on his mind. We'll get him even to do as you took care of business against him in the past. He's not going to LA if the Braves win, but he's pretty sure the Braves do. Get the dub tonight. He's got the wife, the nine-year-old. He's living a great life all he's hoping for is a walk on sports beastro gift card. Sounds like the friend factor is high. Sounds like he'll build something there. And me and Raymond, we get along. But the assumption is Chuck probably. Yeah, he was going to get it. Yeah. All right, Charles. You clean house it right there. You went seven for seven, which. Hell yeah. Most times is enough for an easy win.
But Raymond, since the Braves are going to win tonight, the wife, the nine-year-old, living his best life, he's from Louisiana. He has six. Six. One more card for me, right? Hold on to that one for me, just in case. Chuck's back to the isolation chamber, while Nicholas, joints, can Caden churn off on the fan with a chance to win Chuck's dinner. Hi, Nicholas. Yo, Nick. What's up? He's gone to Nicholas. Yo. Where are you doing? Yeah, can you hear me? Yeah, we got to see you. All right, Nick, is this the, have you played with us before? One sign about a year ago in law. Okay, so redemption is on your mind too. Tell me what happens tonight with the Braves and Phillies. Braves win. I hope it's separated game. Some like second two. What do we have? We got the wife and two dogs just married out to Morgan from North Carolina from Atlanta,
Georgia. Tap at the end. Live in life. Love it. All right, Nicholas, your options here for categories are best of three or screw the fills. Gotta go or screw the field. I like where your head's at. Oh. All right. Nicholas hold on one second as we get chucked back from the isolation chamber for round number two of Winchuck's dinner. Again, thanks to Walk on Sports Beast during here in the battery. Remember the OG? That's the original Walk On's West Cobb. You have two choices to enjoy. Hi, Charles. Last thing I heard for going in isolation booth was Colin Holdbat went back. You're not talking about my card. Yeah. Well, he's trying to get a card. He's trying to get one. You want to be the benevolent king and just gift me a card so I can enjoy Walk On's side before I go to the game. That's kind of cool. He did say he had you. Yeah, that's what I was hoping. I thought. Yeah. Your opposition in round two here is Nicholas. Nicholas likes the Braves to win six to two tonight. He's listening on the app.
He just moved up to North Carolina. He's got the wife. He's got the two dogs. He's living a great life. What he does not have is a Walk On's gift card. So we're going to hope that happens. Chuck your category here in round two is screw the fills. Screw the fills. Take a deep breath for me. That's good. That's good. Good. That's good. Clear that up. All right. We'll put 60 seconds on Chuck's game clock. We'll see if you can keep his dinner from Walk On Sports Beastra. Phil Dunphy was played by Ty Burrell in what ABC sitcom also featuring Sophia Vigara and go great Edo Needs Modern Family. That's right. Phil Mikkelsen conned his way into winning three of Goffs and four major titles, never capturing what major championship? British Open. That is incorrect. Which play?
PGA Open. That's not a thing. It's not a thing. U.S. Open. You want to do it correct? That would have been right, actually. A good choice. U.S. Open. That's good. That would have been right. This postseason, Ozzy Obbies or HaSong Kim. Kim. That is not right. The Rudy Tutti Fresh and Frutti is a signature offering at Wy Hop. That's right. The time will change here in October. Will we gain an hour or lose? Oh no. I chucked. You got four. I got six. Four. I got six. Four. I got two. Which ends with four, because the PGA Open was just a little outside. That just missed. Phil and that was still under the sun. Yeah. That was just a little bit. I don't think there's any minute. I think there's no time. There's no time. I've been looking at the T.V. All the time. You got four. You got four. Nicolus with the wife, the two dogs. He's up there in Carolina. He's going to have to make a little drive back down here because he want himself a walk on. We did. You won. I got five. He had an audience. Now you got four. You spent 30 seconds on the PGA Open, which I've never heard of before.
You know, I was doing too much jagging around, Jack. It was a lot of jagging. There was a no jag Thursday. That's exactly right. I'm not taking Nicholas's card. I'm going to welcome in Bob our final contestant round number three in which a winchock center from walk on sports beast or high bob. Hello. Bob you good? I am great. All right. What happens? What happens with the brace tonight Bob? Well, I want him to win, but I'm feeling the world. Come on Bob, who's our alternate? Bob you want to get in the way. You want to change that answer quick or what do you think? You're going to win. I like the confidence Bob. Have you played with us before? I tried once when you wanted the younger crowd and I got denied. This will be our first time. How old are you? 58. We were looking for the younger folks. We like it. All right Bob. Your category here round three is best of three. Best of three. 60 seconds at your game clock.
Here's your chance to win. Check center from walk on sports beast room. Which of these three movies won best picture at the Oscars? One battle after another, F1 or the secret agent? And Boom goes to Dynamite. Bob Hold on one second. We'll send you back to the waiting room while we get chucked back in here for round number three of Winchucks dinner. Hacharls. This is a dangerous spot for me. I'm used to having three cards. Can I say something? How do you go to the EWWR-E King? I'm going to add something for you. I've never said this in the history of the game. You have no chance to win this round. Not. You're a 21. It's like Temple Georgia. This is like this is 41. One of the biggest mismatches the game has ever seen. Again, it's not my lack of confidence in you. More so your opponent's ability to come up big in big spots. That was a playoff. Pressure field environment that Bob took advantage of. There's no way that you can forecast that I won't do as well. And if he were to win, I'm still a little sketchy on what's happening with that first card. That means instead of getting the wreck, was it three cards that I get, I'm going to win it with none. We're going to find out, right? So hold on one second. Well, I tell you, your category here is Best of Three.
How about that? Best of Three. Take a deep breath. One. Oh, yes, satisfying. Let's put 60 seconds on Chuck's game clock. We'll see if he can keep his no shot. Of keeping his dinner from Walk on Sports Beastro. Which of these three movies won Best Picture at the Oscars? One Battle After Another, F1 or the Secret Asian? One Battle After Another. That's correct. Which of the three horses had the best finish at this year's Kentucky Derby? Renegade, Golden Tempo or Litmus Test? Renegade. That is incorrect. Which artist won album of the year? Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga? Bad Bunny. That is correct. Which is the best public horse in America according to golf digest? Whistling Straits, Twin Pines or Pebble Beach? Pebble Beach. That's right. Which player has recorded more hits this postseason? Michael Harris or Austin Riley? Michael Harris. That's right. The Grand Slam is a signature offering from what restaurant chain?
Dany's. That's right. October has 31 days. What's 31 times three? 93. Very well done, Chuck. I like your chances here. Uh-oh. I did. Chuck, I was wrong. I did not think you would do as well as you did. You got six. I did not think the Oscar movie would have been in your wheelhouse. I didn't think Bad Bunny. Big Bad Bunny guy. You did. He's a big bad bunny guy. You did great, Chuck. You got six. Bob. Bob who likes the Braves a little, you know, cajoling. We had to twist his arm to like the Braves tonight. He's a young guy in his 50s. He came a lot of attitude and he got seven. He got seven. He got seven. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What do you think of that, Chuck? Yeah. What a real one up today. You got seven. Did you all kid minute? It climbed to spare. Yeah, about 27. It's left. Right time to spare. Might have the most impressive round in the history of the game. Any answer definitively.
Why doesn't it sound like anyone else is disappointed? Well, I'm going to say this to you then. Ray King's disappointed because I'm not getting a card. Like, I know what's going to happen to the round one card. That one's already written. Yeah. That's going to be Bob Astor, an eighth questiony at so much time. Man, it was unbelievable. All right, but here's why we, because you won one of the rounds. And mental health is important. We care about your mental health. In your generation, my generation, play his music. Well, I remind everybody walk on sports beast row. If you're coming down tonight for game three, that's a great sport. That's a great sport. Yes. Right down the sidewalk from us here in the battery. You have the great crew walk on the battery or walk on sports beast row in Westcob. All right, coming up, the pitching decisions made tonight. Oh, they'll be broken down. Oh, winter. Long. But Ken Cade, he's going to break them down next. You win, win. There he is. No tomorrow. Oh, I said in spring training that our talent wasn't going to be enough.
If they back, you remember that? I'm going to take more than that. And it always does. We're talented, but the talent alone is never enough. It was about how we compete. And the thing I love about this group is when we've been faced with our toughest challenges. That's when we've been at our best. That's when we've turned around and been at our best. And it's happened every single time we've dealt with adversity or our challenges. That's what we're talking about is fun. Should they play a win or go home scenario? Braves win. They hop on a bird, go to LA. They lose. There's going to be a lot of what should and what could have been. Braves, Phillies tonight, game three on this radio station at 8.15 and on our 6.8 in the fan mobile app. Ken Cade, shirt off our live right here on the Braves vision studios, which are right next to the right field gate. Out in the plaza, come by, say hi on your way in tonight. A sold out, truest park standing remotely. It's going to be a great scene coming up this evening.
It's going to be a great scene. John, yes, he just popped open his yard bird. His free bird. He got that going. If you like, if you're a big fan of throwing the bags around and, oh, that's cornhole. He would another. Oh, Mike, he got me. It's a common hole. Oh, sorry. Yeah, my bad. I should have pre-read that. The cornhole ATL 680 cornhole compass back. So is your chance to register and compete for the cup with great prizes. This is a co-ed event. Round robin single elimination tournament open to anyone 18 or older. The bags are going to fly a week from Saturday, October 10th, from 4 to 8 at the Smurnda Village Greenway. A huge turn out a year ago. If you think you've got what it takes to win the competitive division or the casual division, you can play an either one either way. We've got you covered register. Now it's 680. The fan dot com slash cornhole. Then stick around with that. A free Georgia BAM will watch party on the big screens. Thanks again to our partners at Corona, Modelo Beer and Cornhole ATL. I am a fan of playing the comhole, I really am. You do like the comhole. I have a big foul beer into the pickle.
I'm looking forward to the pickles and the comhole. I love it all. That sounded as dirty as it can get. So we know no matter what happens tonight, one side and the losing side, the fan base, the media is going to be very critical of the pitching decisions because these both come with some really interesting risks on both sides again. Three this evening. They do. The one though right now, Matt, I would tell you is the guy who's walking the tight rope is Braves Manager Walt Weiss. Because he's doing the thing that just to me is the extra step. The complicated move where things don't have to be complicated. I don't understand the idea of it. Now you'll tell us more about it. If you're talking about pictures that in 37 starts, 35 starts of three earned runs or less, you're talking about a guy in Grand Homes that is one of the best in baseball. What are the most successful? And you're not letting him start the game.
You're just not having him start because you're trying to think, well, let me, let me go for that extra move of strategy. I would tell you that the extra move of strategy. I want to ask Brandon Gordon about it and we'll ask Mark Bowman about it. The extra move of strategy to me in baseball history when we've done this job, both of us for a long time, usually comes back and burns the guy who doesn't. It's the thing where people say, why are you overthinking things that are easy? If tonight, if he's the starter versus Noah, the Braves have the advantage in starting pitching. No question. He's the better starting pitcher than Aaron Nolan. That's a reflection of Noah more than a compliment to home. Oh, I agree with you. And I'm going to say you want it. 35 out of 37 for here and runs, unless it's great. Well, that's great by baseball's name. I'm not going to Grand Homes is okay. Grand Homes has a 476. I got you. Like, let me repeat for everybody. He's a fielding independent ERA of 476.
So he's gotten some good fortune. And I'm fine with Grant going tonight, but John, here's where I'll be on the record. It might not work. Ray Kerr might blow up in the first. I like the strategy. I think it makes perfect sense. What we've said about Grant Homes over and over is, you want him going through the lineup once, maybe a second time in the right scenario. Well, in this case, he doesn't have to get the plane off the ground against the lefties. You get Chorber and Harper against Kerr, which I think makes all the sense. The process makes sense. It might not work. I think the process fits. And then Grant Homes, depending on how he's going, by the time you get back around to Harper and Chorber, you'll reevaluate then and decide, do I want... Maybe you have a couple of run lead. You'll let Grant go, or you'll decide Dylan Dodd. I think your whole strategy is not allowing what happened again yesterday, because you got beat by their two best hitters. That can't happen. If I was to tell you tonight that by the sixth inning, the Braves are into their third pitcher. I would believe that.
They lose this game. Oh, I don't know. No, I'm going to go on the record and tell you that if there are 15 outs, it'd been recorded. Yeah. And the Braves have used three pitchers. The Braves will lose the game. Here's why I'll go the other way. I always want my manager to be aggressive. That's not the reason you lose the game. Here's the problem with yesterday's game. You can't lose to Harper and Chorber. You can't. Anybody else, I'll look bomb good for you for hitting the pop-up right field home run. Hell of a job by Chorber and by Harper, I can't lose to those two. I'll walk them every time. If I have to or I'll pitch around them, I'll do whatever. But in lieu of that, there are going to be times you have to pitch to them. And I want to lefty pitching to them. That's just as simple as it gets. And that's, courtesy start, that's dog later. That might be Brent's sooner at some point. That's got to be the scenario just to give you a better chance now. Chorber and Harper still might get you. But the process is sound. I would just say that that would be right now. And it's not going to be 2020 hindsight tomorrow. If it does not work,
it will be talked about for a generation in Atlanta of one of those talking points of why the hell do that? Why do that? What do you want to tell your wife? You see the process, the process, I do. I mean, remember, you're giving me with it when you say the process and giving you generational value. That's a mental health talk. Yes, that is. No, honestly, all joking. The process makes perfect sense. I want a hard throwing lefty pitching to Chorber and Harper, it's not that deep. That makes sense. I can tell you that openers have not exactly been like a great thing against the Phil's. You might be right. Strategy wise, but this one makes sense in a vacuum. And I'll add this. I don't like to vacuum myself. I would if I was the Philly start Wheeler in this game, but whenever they're going to start Nola. Here are some numbers for Braves hitters against Nola. Ronald Acunia has got a 339 lifetime average with four home runs and an OPSM in 1100. Matt Olson's got five career homers in OPSM, almost 1100. Austin Riley's got a 360 career average with seven home runs and 1100 OPS. Mike Yostremsky hits 389 with an OPSM 1100 Drake Baldwin, 455, average with a 95050.
Marjano's has served up less meat balls since 2024. And here's the reason I know the reason I would start Wheeler is I don't know that I want to use Nola. To your point, Nola might not feel comfortable. Well, you'd have to use Nola tonight. They don't have enough. Well, they do. They don't trust. No, they don't trust. That's different. They don't have a Ryan. No, they don't have. You can't trust Kirkery. He's terrible. No, but the Matt does. They have 12 pitchers. They have more than they don't trust them. They're terrible. I know. You hear me out on this. If I pitch Wheeler, my team scores me three runs. All right. Maybe I still go to Nola and I got a little buffer. If Nola starts and you're down three nothing and then you go to Wheeler, what does that do for you? Keep seeing the game. That's my thinking. So I'll reverse your thought that if Nola gives up three in the first and he's out after two and a third, they're going to kill him for starting Nola instead of the better arm. Even on three days rest, I'll take Wheeler and three days rest over Nola. From what I've been told from a pretty good reliable source. The great guy is going to lean on things. They're not churn off. Not churn off. Not churn off. Atlanta's churn off. I took a look for news earlier. I did have that.
That the, you know what's happened? That they went and that mattingly talked to the veteran pitchers and the veteran pitchers sort of advised him on how they would like it to go there. You saw it. I get it. I'm just telling you what will be received. If you pitch Wheeler in your down four to one, does you know that's my point? No. And then God forbid you come back and win. Well, that's the whole man. And then it's the next good. So all right. So it'll be a fascinating tale to see how that goes tonight. Coming up next, Walt's loyalty was rewarded in game one. But it cost him a game too, which makes his choices tonight even more interesting. We'll dive into him next. There he is. No, no.
