Game 3. We're getting ready to count you down. Braves Phillies tonight, 815 on this very radio station and on our six-aid-of-the-fan mobile app. Yes, can Kate and Shonaugh live on the Braves vision set right out here in front of the big green next to Truace Park at the right field gate getting ready for a win or go home extravagance. Winner go home, this was so destined to happen, right? When the show was created, gosh, we were only hoping it would. That this would happen. Nothing like a Braves Phillies game 3. Just to bring the familial love together and everything like that, but it's been a great series. It's weird to call it two-game thing a series video. Okay, it's been a wild swing of emotions back and forth, which I would assume the same is happening tonight. I want to talk about that. Sure. Coming up in a moment. Let me set the table for everybody today. Nobody's eating. Well, yeah, you might be because you have a chance to win Chuck's dinner. Oh, around 320. Thanks to our friends at Walk On Sports Beasts. Sounds good. Then Brandon God and the voice to the Braves on Braves vision. He'll be here
joining us at 430. And that's our Bowman from MLB.com who's ruffling some feathers on social media once again. He will be here. So we'll have this game broken down in several different ways today. Bowman likes Deet. I can tell you likes Deet. I'm necessary. No, he likes Deet. I like Deet with him. So yeah, two o'clock hour of the program is brought to you by 100% employee owned and operated Woodstock furniture and mattress outlets. Skip the national change. Shop the hometown original at Woodstock outlet dot com. He's fat. No, he's not asked for it. But we're going to give it to you anyway. The news that nobody wants. So 33 year old Marcus Feltstein of Denver was terminated from his office job after co-workers reported he had been deliberately eating large quantities of beans and tofu at his desk each day as part of what he openly called, quote, fart max. A self described wellness routine. He insisted was good for gut health optimization. Now we used to have somebody that we worked with. Who's a fart? Max? Who was a? Varma. Do you remember who that was? I don't think you heard the font noise.
I don't think you offended. Chad Scott. Oh, Chad, you're out of protein. Chad was a protein and it meant that it was going to be eggs and noxious gas. Colin and BG get angry with me when it happens. If I'm in the control room, what you can't control sometimes it just gets you can. You can walk out a biscuit slides out of the basket. Okay. Next thing you know, you're getting judged harshly and then Colin breaks out the. You come in here and force it. I don't forcing it's hard. You don't want to force it. That's how you get one of those hemorrhoids. I just let it happen naturally. So it's not fart maxing, but it does. I didn't know those. I think I don't look maxing. I've heard fart maxing is now realized that's the thing. I did Google it. So I said something during the world famous crossover that I know a lot of Atlanta is feeling today and that is fatalism. There is a long-term bravest fan and I'll say somebody within my age range 10 years or so younger to my age even older that these games have not gone the bravest way very much that you apply the sense of the past to what's going to happen tonight. We all know it has nothing to do with what's going to happen tonight. But John here is why I would bring this up. Even 2021's championship run.
Braves never dealt with an elimination game. Which is pretty incredible. That is pretty incredible. The run of the championship they were in control of every series. They have lost six straight winner-going home games. They are three and 17 in these games going all the way back to 1997. Whoa. It's a 30 years man. The last time the Braves won one of these type of games where they were facing elimination was in 2018. They won game three against the Dodgers, but then lost game. For the last time they came back to win a series facing elimination was against the Cardinals in 1996 where they beat St. Louis 15 to nothing in game six. That was a great, great one. It was a great Braves team and then in game seven they ended up winning that game. Seven two? No, I think it was maybe four to one or five to one something like that whatever it was but it was 30 years ago. So I get the fatalism again. You want to try to remain optimistic. You hope for the best. But when you've seen enough of these you're like I'm going to go and cautiously optimistic and hope for the best. Okay, you go in and you do that. I was thinking of you today,
Matt and thinking of 49 year old Matt. Kind of old. They're not. But you're not. Maybe you've seen a couple titles. I have. And you see a couple of those and I was thinking of from doing a couple radio appearances today back in my old hometown. 49 year old Joey. I'll call him. He's also seen two titles. Yeah, but he saw a title in 1980. He didn't even see it. No, I would have been three. And he didn't see. He didn't see the success that 49 year old Matt has. Well, and the fatalism that they feel today is over and over again because they feel the fatalism as they didn't have all the bites at the apple. When they get their opportunities, they've had the choke moments. And they feel that same fatalism. I get yours and I feel it and believe me from living here, 27 years of my life, I get it. But there has been a lot that I hope that people give this team less of a fatalistic approach tonight. I hear your words. It's not going to work and I appreciate it.
It's just not going to work because I were all product of environment, even when we've seen titles that and I don't want to go chapter in verse. Being in this job for a very long time, I've sat at both Turner Field as you're in his park. Correct. In a lot of those moments where I distinctly remember on one game five sitting behind home plate with the Astros team family members when the Astros killed the Braves and it was Jeff Bagwell go off or watching the Cubs. That was a bad one or watching the Giants. And I don't want to go again. I don't want to go through all of it. I'm saying to you, you're right. Fatalism is not something you can prove if it has something to do with the O3 Braves, the O9, whatever. But it's hard to shake the feelings. No, it is. And I get you. How do you change that? You win a game like tonight. You give people a little payoff of like, okay, I can respond by saying think back to that moment. Do you think though that anything that has happened in the past has anything to do with this year's team? Of course not. There's a difference in feelings and facts. And that's where that's to me is where I think that it's where you and you'll battle this over the years with me is the logic. John, shut off the logic.
Sure. Because I tend to be too logical a fan. I don't have that feeling because I always do look at it as last year has nothing to do with this year. This year has nothing to do with 10 years ago for God's sakes. And so, and I don't believe that an organization is cursed, a fan-basis curse. I do believe there's a caveat. Tell me. The caveat and I told you this a couple of weeks go. When you've had a group together like both these teams have had chorus or when you've had failures in the postseason, it does seep in. I have no doubt that when something like yesterday happens, you have to fight the. Oh, yeah. We've been here before. We let one get away or you do your best to try to get that out of your mind. And then you step into the box tonight because I, baseball is the one sport that I think people apply other sports sensibilities of like a motion. And you've got you got to remove a motion and baseball. You've got to step into the box or on the mound, removing pretty much all the motions. You can execute in a way that just is so hard. That's why these are the greatest in the world. It's not football or basketball emotion. I can't argue with you that I sort of feel that when the Phillies gift wrapped this series in the seventh
inning, which they tried. Oh, they did two stupid defensive plays. And the Braves have a three one lead. I thought at that moment series over we all did Braves are going to LA. They'd be getting on a plane probably today or Friday morning, whatever it was, they begun. The way when I saw Schwerburn Harper go back to back, it felt to me like a seismic shift in our series. No question. But here's one thing I could tell the people here having watched this Phillies team intimately for years. And watching them closely and knowing that there's no such thing as momentum when it comes with this group. But this group, I don't think I don't think momentum is a real thing at base. So you don't because no, it changes like momentum would have been in the Braves talk out in the seventh and with Dylan Lee and then there was no hanging of a head by Schwerburn or Harper. They got in the box and they looked angry and they responded in those moments. Now I did get a text from my buddy, Brian Hoyt, who one of the greatest screaming matches we ever got into was that you got a few. I do. I do. I feel after the Braves blew a game against the Dodgers, which was a bad loss.
Bad loss. We're talking the next morning and I am again, I'm out of my mind. They're blowing the series. It's happening again. And his word to me was stop being a virgin. Oh. And so his thing to me is like I'm going to give you something that you need to focus on where you have these moments and he gave me his martyr breeze card. Okay. Then every time I get like this, he's like, take your breeze card, stop being a bee and be cocky because that was the Gamer Giromo of a lady. Oh yes it was. Okay. Good. Good. So I have the breeze card with me. Do you have it? I have it in my pocket. Have you ever maneuvered the card today in your hands? No. Not yet. I'm not going to do it until it comes to that point. There's a you won't take it out until you. I think you could benefit from it this afternoon. I don't want to take it out. I have to take it out. I'm going to leave it in there until I see you're not going to just whip it. I'm not going to whip it out until there's like a key spot in the seventh inning. That's where I have to like run that thing like Miyagi on Danielson's leg. I think that is a fantastic thing though. And he shows the love of Brian. He cares about me. He does. He cares for your mental health. The mental health is very important. Mental health is very important. It's very important for you and your generation. I'm going to tell you this right now. It's very important. If things don't go well the night mental health is going to have an effect on me showing up tomorrow or not.
All I could say is this is that I would just say to I feel in my gut that it seemed like that eighth inning yesterday was a seismic shift. Oh yes. There's no question. And but again you score three in the first off. Nolan all the sudden. Oh yeah. And I can tell you that the guy most likely immediately baseball to serve up a meatball is Aaron Nolan. I'm going to talk a lot about Ronald Acquini all day today. He loves hitting against Nolan. He does but the playoffs are very different for obvious reasons that this is not a referendum on Ronnie but no you don't want to go through three game or he's over eight years. You did up no walks in the stolen bases. We'll talk about moments that guys have to have throughout the day today. And what can I give you one little easter egg real quick is he averages about six innings to start against the braids and that's something that tonight can't happen. Oh there's no way he goes six right. But he's averaged in 24 25 and 26 right even though his ERA has been five four six and four five against the braids.
He's averaged six innings to start. I won't put it past him but this is a third appearance in eight days which is not worthy. Which is weird. Yeah they used to want to. But he is a he's got a rubber band arm. Yeah there's no. And you can't that would be a nightmare scenario if they don't get him out. Relax. Then there's the second guessing that will be. They got them. All right today is a lovely day to hear how the brave skipper and a couple of his players are feeling about today's winner go home game. You'll hear it next. Just one look at you. And I know it's going to be a lovely game. We're hoping it's a lovely day for a Braves game three victory. Can Caden Shernoff for live on the Braves. This is a Braves vision set here right next to his part. We'll be here until 615 tonight. Then you'll get 680 game day. Then the Fort Leed Off Show and then the all important winner go home. Game number three on the fan and on the 680 the fan mobile lap. Now if you're watching on YouTube I am sitting in John's lap. Yes it's either that or be burned up by the sun. So yes if you're watching on YouTube we are very close together. He's very
fair. That is happening. I am very fair and there's no question. We will we'll dive into what happened yesterday coming up in about 10 minutes. We'll talk about the pitching matchup tonight. The strategy all of behind game number three. What that's going to look like. First though let's find out who our lovely day is brought to us by make your next vehicle purchase quick easy and convenient with a Jim Ellis Expressway at Jim Ellis dot com Jim Ellis Automotive where you can always expect the best. So after the game last night Walt Weiss spoke to the media and he was pretty clear about his expectation for the winner go home game. I expect to come out tomorrow and it'd be a similar game like I said yesterday. This is usually what it looks like when these two teams play that's what will happen tomorrow. We'll come out. We'll be ready. So they will be ready. They know what time it is. It's not 215. Nobody showed up early. It's the 815. So they're ready to roll. Michael Harris was also short and sweet to the point on what he expects from his team as he talked to the media last night. First in a game and just knowing we got to be wanting to know tomorrow to keep the season alive. So doing the little things to be able to score the ends and all the
to no runs. So as a collective team we have to do everything right. We're doing baseball cliche. Gosh, these are bad answers. Then there's Grand Holmes who will be the piggyback hey Holmes for a great curve who just had a specific attitude that he's bringing into this matchup. Kind of brings me back to the 24. You know it last game I pitched in. Deward died. Didn't really have a heads up and you know I went out there and you know did my job when the woman that could just exactly what I'm going to do tomorrow. If I do get them all fun game, fun Disney, fun everything. Those are all the right answers. The hoop is 10 feet high and get the court length and all of it. I will add what he's referencing is on that final day of the 24 season with the brave needing one win in the double header against the mats. They had lost the first game with the bullpen imploded. Holmes pitched four scoreless seven strikeouts did a hell of a job. My top spot too. I want to say piggyback to that one too, but he did himself good work there. Like we're piggybacking. We are piggybacking to me, don't you, Laney? And I'm now sitting on your back. It's now been 1,359 days since anybody around here thought it was a good idea to have a parade. It smells like poo poo.
