Someone broke coverage and they got a big score. Not really worried. The next drive was much more troubling. I was really glad that they held them to feel. If that's a touchdown, I'm, I still think they come back, but I think they got a little bit of wind by holding them to a feeling of, okay, it's 10. We can do this. And then they scored 24 straight, I think. But they play with their food, probably looking. I hope it was a look ahead. Look ahead. And they're not just coming off a little bit of an emotional, uh, you know, victory and glory. Inside it was a bad place for that opponent. Yeah. Comp, you know, certainly a cable. And you just, you know, you coming off Kansas, which really wasn't, to be honest with you, I don't think Missouri played very well and they still covered one easily and one easily. So why wouldn't you, like I was all about Troy last week and I don't hold one ounce of it against Missouri. I think it's just coming off KU SEC on the other side. Troy's pretty good, but they're not going to take that serious. I don't care what you tell him. I put no value in, in not having a great performance in that game. You know, I can see that entering maybe in the, in the prep work for the week. And, but once you get to the stadium and you see it's a full house. And that hasn't always been the case for Missouri to fill up a, you know, the, the Ferro field, you know, for an opponent that's not an SEC or an already old big 12 or I'm mad, mad props. I don't know how the hell you paid prices for, for running games. I don't know. I think that alone should have been, you know,

But I think this weekend's games going to tell us whether, you know, Troy was an aberration because if Missouri doesn't play well this week, then, you know, maybe last week was the beginning of something not good for the Tigers going forward. And we're looking at a different kind of season than what we expected from them. If they go down to Starkville and don't win the game. Are you surprised, Mississippi States favorite? I would have been, so if you told me at the beginning of the season,

11:30they were favored, they would be favored. I'd have been surprised then. But after what, I, so I watched that Mississippi State South Carolina game, oh, so impressive. Are the bulldogs. And you mentioned that quarterback Taylor. Is it can air? Is it Canary? Camario. Camario. Camario Taylor. Wow. You know, just a, he, we're talking about him or he's being talked about nationally the way Simmons was the previous coming off the KU game. And of course, he didn't play terrific against Simmons against Troy, but Taylor against South Carolina was fantastic and overcome like a six, I think they were down 16 zip 16 nothing. And and it could have been, it should have been more. South Carolina settling for field goals early. So no, they must, that must be, that may end up being one of the most misread teams in the preseason. If, if, and this guy's vaulting himself into the Heisman race, or three weeks into the year, where it just means more at SEC sports.com, the preseason power rankings, Missouri nine Mississippi State 14. Yeah, just ahead of like Arkansas and

12:38maybe Kentucky or something. They were in, these are power rankings, right? They had Kentucky 15 and Arkansas 16. Yeah. And then in the preseason media poll, it was Missouri 10th and Mississippi State 15th. But it's like just the points like nobody was given Mississippi. I mean, because Missouri is at 11.05. They're not that far behind Florida 1217 Tennessee 1320. Mississippi state at 467 points. I mean, only Arkansas 262 had less. There's a discernible drop down to where they are. And so and now they're laying five and a half. Now they're like, I mean, they've jumped into the polls now. I mean, they're, they're, they're maybe had a Missouri. Now they're, they're lower because I was one of fat Jack's angles was when a lower ranked team is favored against the higher ranked team at home. Take a ring 19. So he was on Mississippi State. Wow. Wow. But I mean, I just like, this is the time of year where one of the, one of the things that I think kind of works is, you know, we're still

13:41kind of heavily influenced by a couple of games early. Go back and remind yourself what you thought going in because you're usually not a moron. And we, we tend to overreact early. And now they should be finding themselves getting in the rhythm. And so if you thought somebody was going to be good, and they just haven't played that well, it's not a bad idea to think that they're going to come back and play well. But I mean, I got to be honest with you, Mississippi State being favored by five and a half, it's a tease down line. So I always like those. And so I like Missouri because of that. But I also, I mean, I go back and look at some like South Carolina or Mississippi State, wasn't supposed to be very good. Right. And I know the quarterbacks playing great. But, you know, well, maybe with college football anyway, I'm not going to talk about any other sport. But I generally agree with you that it's, it's, it's always smart to fall back on what you, you spent all off season thinking about what a team's going to be and how it's shaping up. And that's the information you take into the season. And so you're right. Sometimes there are some results that

14:42don't happen the way that you thought. But it shouldn't shake the way that, you know, you had, that you shaped that team. But college football's different now. You know, you, because half of your team played at a different school the previous year. And it, it, it, you know, it's not like you followed this team over the years and these same players. Like I didn't know anything about this quarterback. Mississippi State quarterback. I go from not knowing who he is to be in a top five Heisman guy. Yeah. And a matter of weeks. And that just didn't used to happen. No. And he's not a transfer. He's been. And I was there last year. Yeah. He's a guy. And he grew up 40 miles from the campus and they're already. And now he's so good. We're talking about where he's going to play next year. He's so good. Chris Jones is going to make donations to the. You pressed him on it today. You and Todd, you know, Chris Jones is talking about. Yeah. We got to get last year. Last year, 56% 629 yards, five touchdowns, one interception. He did at 450 yards rushing in eight

15:46touchdowns on the ground. Right. This year, 68% completion percentage. And he's beaten South Carolina and on the road. The week before they had a decent win. They went to Minnesota. Minnesota. Right. So who who aspires to be a bowl team and has been kind of that low end bowl team out of the big 10, but 11 touchdowns, one interception run in the ball. 178. He's up a full yard per carry to 6.6 yards per carry and a touchdown on the ground. And have you seen. If you've seen enough of Missouri's defense to to trust him in this game. No, that's why I think it's too easy for everyone to pile on Mississippi State. Yeah. It's that's why I'm on Missouri. The problem, but when I watch them play and maybe I'm too close to it, I don't because I don't have haven't seen the same dynamics with Mississippi State. But to me, the both lines don't appear completely ready for SEC play offensive line. Just too many mistakes. Bad snaps. I mean, like the opposite of the

16:47Creed Humphrey. He he tossed two of them up in the air like he was trying to throw it to a fan on the stands on twice. They get they're trying to set some kind of SEC record for fall starts. It's amazing how many penalties they have on the offensive side. And the defensive line really hasn't dominated very much. I mean, I'm more concerned with the offensive line because they're they're also not clearing a lot of paths. They've had some big plays from from from Robert's, but he has 300 yards rushing. But he has a lot of there's a lot of ones and two's. He's not crashing for five and six. And I'm wondering how much of that is aligned and how much of it is how much of of Jamal Roberts affected his last year was he was running against defenses. It had to tackle him out hearty for two and a half quarters. True. And they don't have that guy to set him up. And so I like to put like with Edwards brings. But those two aren't as good as the two they had last year, even though one of them is a carrier. Well, does this missus? Does this game fall into the category of not beating you know, Eli Drinkwood's having his teams having a problem beating the teams he does.

17:52He's not supposed to beat. Yeah, we talk about that. By the way, they that that's I do love that stat. Not not that I don't love the SEC record. Yeah, I don't love that it's negative. But I do think it is a very important stat. It's revealing. But when you lose, you are contributing to making that team winning record. I mean, if that if those every time you beat them, they're more like would have a losing record. And so like I don't think but against the Sabin. It's bad. It's bad as well. And yeah, my point is Nick Sabin probably hasn't beat as many winning teams as you'd think. Yeah, because he helps make him losing team. That's right. Right. All the in-betweens, you know, they tilt it the other way. And 500 is where a lot of teams end. And so you're putting him in that spot. So yeah, and it's a great stat. But it's also you're kind of like it's math. It's worth explaining a little bit. Yeah, the one thing I find maybe as a positive thing was I was looking it. Because I want to know Gary Pinkle always had those wins. I went and let me look at the first however many years. And Eli drink with Missouri tenure up to this point coming into this year

18:56was where Gary Pinkle was going into the O7 season. Oh, well, yeah, he didn't. I don't know. I say that again. I says where Gary Pinkle was or where he led drink was coming into this season. His tenure at Mizzou was exactly along as Gary Pinkle was going into the O7 season. This was when he has first big year when they when they blew up. Now I don't know that I see Jeremy Maclin and and guys like that. And I don't know if Chase Daniels. It was a better college quarterback. The Austin Simmons. It was probably. But and they took off that year and they and they really hadn't beat they had a couple but they even a few years before that they had knocked off a fifth rank or fifth rank Nebraska team. They had at least one or two of the. They beat Nebraska. They had the they had the big win over South Carolina in the bowl game where they were down. 21 nothing. Yeah, I was ready to get that was it. I was ready to give up. I was like we were watching watching someplace on a Friday and they were down to that. I was like see you Gary. And then they came Brad Smith to brought him back from the the precipice and one. I was like, all right, well, we'll see you guys. Have they put a statue of him outside the stadium? I am. Did they?

20:00I don't think they have. No, I don't think so. I don't think so. But that's a good topic. Should they look at this is an interesting topic. But he might drink which has had a. Is there a statue of any coach outside besides for row? I mean, is this of cop? Is there a for row statue? I don't even know. I'm not sure. Every time I've been there, I just zoomed in. I don't. You circle around. Now that the the the check I put on myself on that comparison is that Gary Pingle didn't have NIL. They didn't have a situation where you can you can turn it around quickly. I don't know that you'd give a coach as much of that long of a grace period to get that kind of a win. I'm not looking to fire you like drink. What's but he's had more of an opportunity to pull off one of those wins. I think then coaches did 15 times. I mean, I don't even know like I think listen, that would a wonderful high school debate topic to throw up there because I don't know how you get your arms around and define that. Is it easier or harder now? I mean, you'd look at you look at Indiana and be like it's easier because this basketball this not this want to be basketball school.

21:02This former basketball school never football school want a championship. So see it's easy. But also, I'd be like, okay, totally new system figured out. Yeah, you know, like and now it's on like how much money do you got behind you? And Mizzou's got some big donors. There's no doubt. But I don't know. I mean, according to that football spending we were talking about that. They were like 20 if I think. Yeah. And amongst the not NFL stupid me bookmarked another college. That feels like the NFL. Well, minor league football. Yeah, it does. Let me see. I get down a farm. They were amongst SEC schools in front of them was LSU, A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama. And by a lot, by the way, out there Florida, Florida is a 31 to 41 Auburn, South Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma. And then them at 27 to 30 million. 11th. Still down there. Yeah.

22:09So that's not like he's, you know, but they they overachieve a little bit based on that over the last few years. I mean, if you're in the middle of the pack, you're eight, nine. I mean, one of the reasons that their defenses this little sub-parris logo out of the gates is because they sent five guys to the NFL. Yeah, the draft. Every game I turn on, there's somebody from Missouri's defense that's that's playing. There was one playing for the Colts on Sunday. Now you have to be look around or somebody. So he's getting players. But if they lose this game on Saturday. It's going to take a lot of momentum away from him. It is. And you go over like right now, it's like, I think we might be able to go like two and three against that rugged thing. And maybe even three and two. Three and two were in the playoffs. Two and three were in the discussion. You lose them as to be state you like, well, we're going on. We're we might be six and six. And all of a sudden, Kentucky's good enough to go to A&M and win. Yes. And they're on the schedule. So

23:09well, I thought A&M was one of the more overrated teams. It apparently is. I didn't know how you could just hang your hat on like, oh, they're going to lose both coordinators and be fine. Plus, I didn't think their quarterback was very good last year. And I don't know. Is it even the same guy? It is, right? No, you talk about A&M. Yeah, I thought Carl Cawyer should read. I'd watch those games. I'd like Colin Klein's doing a masterful job because this guy sucks. Yeah. I'm sorry to be but he's making a ton of money. So screw him. He sucks. I mean, you know, I used to try to be nice to the college kids, but that's making a check here. You know, I thought it was so because every team, every other team in the Southeast conference says that color, that dark kind of burgundy is like, wait, South Carolina, A&M, Mississippi State, they all Alabama. Yeah, even even a darker like those three, I was kind of a that Garnett is what really, really dark. I would tell my, I think which one is that again? Is that Mississippi State or is that A&M or is that South Carolina? Well, he totally sellers, sellers totally got outplayed every night by the

24:11Miss by Taylor at Mississippi State. That I don't it is South Carolina is not on Missouri schedule this year, right? I don't think so. I think the games that we thought were a kind of automatics were going into the season. I think we're Mississippi State Kentucky and Arkansas. And then could they find two out of that gauntlet of, you know, Florida A&M Georgia Texas. They are not right. It just all the sudden, this becomes a pretty pivotal game for the time. Well, because I mean, listen, when you when you put 10 teams in the top 25 and you get to and you play no one out of the league, then all they're going to do when every time one of those teams loses, they just hand it over to the team they lost to. So they the SEC teams just hand it back and forth. So the fact that what was those five teams on their schedule that were ranked and no one else now Mississippi State ranked now Florida's ranked, you know, like they just there and they're all the, they're six at aren't are the are it from 26 to 35. So they're just always popping. I don't I don't, did Florida

25:17get tougher or was this what they were going to be? They're just now have 21 next to their name. I don't know. We'll know more about them this weekend. Aren't they playing old. It was amazing what A&M was able to do in that game and they got down big to Kentucky and couldn't do it. Couldn't go back. Before the season, you do the kind of rank the coaches.

We'll see how much they want to play for Shane Beamer because if they come out focused, they'll have it. They have a shot in that game. But after Alabama doesn't impress me yet. I think they have the ability to impress me. They haven't done it yet. But South Carolina, this may be the last stand for Shane Beamer. Well, NLSU and A&M, I mean, that's like two teams licking wounds.
