Talarico's campaign is making Paxton out to be a heartless monster when it comes to the Uvalde shooting. The truth is, Paxton was presenting Biblical truth, just like Jesus did in John 9.

Welcome to Politics by Faith. This is where we take the news of the day. We bring it to the Bible. So we can walk away with peace and perspective. New headlines every day. But as he says, there's nothing new under the sun. So thanks for being here to get the true story. And today we're going to talk about suffering and what we are to do in the midst of some of the worst things imaginable. Why do I bring this up? Ken Paxton. He's running for Senate taxes. He said that God kills children. And he does it because he likes to do it. Oh, God. Wait, what really happened here? We got another talerico story. I don't just yesterday. Yesterday I was talking to him. I was like, why do we do so many talerico stories here? We never talk about them over on Series X and here we are again. So talerico's team sent out this message. Ken Paxton said that you've all day shooting. Remember this school shooting you've all day Texas murder went in there and the police
like didn't go in for a while. Remember that whole thing was horrible. Ken Paxton's talerico's team. Ken Paxton said the you've all day shooting was part of a quote plan and quote by quote God and quote 21 elementary school children and teachers were murdered in the shooting. All right. So Ken Paxton said the you've all this shooting was part of a plan by God. What a monster. What did he really say? First of all, be very careful of any headline or story where they just put a word or two in quotes. That's a ridiculous tactic. Then this headline here they put God like plan, just the word plan and the word God. That's it. That's ridiculous. All right. So the background is this is I mean, let's if you do that, you can take someone could say a couple sentences and you just pluck two words and flip them around and you can say whatever
you could imagine. That's a art. All right. So this is Ken Paxton back in 2022. He was doing a radio interview. Smart talk with Trey Graham on the word 100.7 KWRD. And the last question of the interview was, hey, Mr. Attorney General, if you were to give a word of comfort or encouragement to the victims of a wall day, what would you say? This is the exact question. What could you say that might give a little comfort? Here's the folk quote. He said, look, I think it's difficult to give comfort. If I lost one of my children, I'd be pretty devastated, especially in a way that is so senseless and seemingly has no purpose. I think I would not would just have to if I had the opportunity to talk to people, I'd have to say there's always a plan. I believe God always has a plan.
Life is short, no matter what it is. And certainly we're not going to make sense of it. A young child being shot and killed way before their life expectancy and so forth. Even though we can't make sense of it, I would just have to encourage them to hold onto their faith and to hold on their belief that there really is purpose in what God does. And we may not know it now, but someday we will. Did it get a little different then? God had a plan to kill him. So the context here is he was asked if you had to say something. What would you say to the victims? And his first answer was nothing. I wouldn't say anything. What can you possibly say? And that's like the right answer. And I bet if Ken Paxson were face to face with the parents after this happened, he probably would have stopped there. But this is a radio interview. So he said, it started with that. I wouldn't say anything. And then fast-forwarded through time. And thanks, well, okay. Time goes on.
Jesus, like eventually if I were to say something about the truth and if people were open to hearing the truth, if I had to say something, then it's something like, God is a plan. This is so the attack ad is total hackery, of course, but gives us an opportunity to talk about this. And what the Bible says about this is very hard for people to understand because we don't know everything and God does. We want to know everything, but we don't. God does Matthew 10, 29, are not two sparrows, sold for a penny, and not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your father. God knows the hairs on your head. God knows everything before you're born. So then why? Why do bad things happen? One to present one of the questions and answers from the Heidelberg catechism that's written
in 1563. The question is, what do you understand by the providence of God? The answer is the Almighty, an ever-present power of God by which God upholds, as with his hand, heaven and earth and all creatures, and so rules them, that leaf and blade, like grass, rain and drought, fruitful and lean years, food and drink, health and sickness, prosperity and poverty, all things, in fact, come to us not by chance, but by his fatherly hand. Fruitful and lean years, health and sickness come to us not by chance, but by his fatherly hand. The question is, how does the knowledge of God's creation and providence help us? The answer is we can be patient when things go against us. Thankful when things go well. And for the future, we're going to have good confidence in our faithful God and father that nothing in creation will separate us from his love.
For all creatures are so completely in God's hand that without his will, they can neither move nor be moved. Let's go to Scripture. I got a Heidelberg Catechism right there. Let's go to Scripture. Let's go to the Bible. So first, sorry, not first, let's go to John 9, John 9 verse 1. As Jesus passed by, he saw a man blind from birth and his disciples asked him, Rabbi, who sent this man or his parents that he was born blind? Or interesting concept there that there was a belief that if something bad is going on, that it means it's totally the consequence of sin or even like a karma kind of thing, like a previous life or something. Jesus answered, it was not that this man sinned or his parents. Okay, what explains it? If it's not sinned, what explains it? This man was born blind. It's not his sins, not his parents. What is it? That the works of God might be displayed in him.
So Jesus makes it, Jesus heals him. He can see. And this is such a great story because no one believes him. Like no one believes the blind, the previously blind guy and the Pharisees bring him in and then they bring in his parents to claim that it's actually him. And they're like, who did this? He's like, I don't know. And then they call him back and he's like, I already told you. I don't know what to tell you. And the line that the man says, God does not listen to sinners. But if anyone's a worshipper of God and does his will, God listens to him. And then Jesus finds the man again and asks him if he believes that he's the son of man. He says, yes. And then Jesus says, for judgment, I came into this world. For those who do not see may see. So excuse me, that those who do not see may see and those who see may be blind. I love when Jesus does these switch of rules. The Pharisees think they see, but they don't even as Jesus performed with these miracles
right in front of them. But here we have a physically blind person who now can see and he sees the truth of who Jesus really is. So it's essentially it's like those who insist they already see and therefore refuse the light remain in the dark. But my main point here is about the suffering. It's one of the ultimate questions, isn't it? When it comes to Christianity, suffering. Why? Why does God allow it? What is the point? Well, Christianity has an answer to that question. And I think it's a beautiful one. Charles Spurgeon gave a sermon on this. He tells a story. He says a young convert after finding peace with God. So he was born again. Was heard to say, I rejoice that I was a lost sinner. I rejoice that I was a lost sinner. Strange matter to be glad about, you will say.
For of all things, it is most to be deplored. But here was his reason. Because God's infinite grace and mercy and wisdom and all his attributes are glorified in me as they never could have been had I not been a sinner and had I not been lost. Here's Spurgeon, God has allowed moral and physical evil to come into this world to cause his infinite wisdom, grace, power and all his other attributes to be better seen by the whole intelligent universe. Sin somehow or another, desperate evil as it is will be overruled to display God's goodness. Spurgeon says, were there no sin? There had been no savior. If no death, no resurrection. If no fall, no new covenant.
If no rebellious race, then no incarnation, no cavalry, no ascension, no second advent. So we do not know. And perhaps shall never know the deepest reason why an infinitely gracious God permitted sin and suffering to enter the universe that we may at least be encouraged. This practical thought here it is. Again, this is going through suffering. We'll go through suffering again. Spurgeon says we may not know the deepest. We don't write. We can be encouraged by this that God will be glorified in the overcoming of evil and its consequences. I'm going to play here. Maybe the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life. Again, this, the reason we got into this story and this biblical truth is because of
who of all day shooting, 21 kids and teachers were killed by this. By the way, there's a ministry of presence just being there like Job's friends were at first. They were just there. That's powerful and a wonderful thing. And God will bless that too. But we have this shooting where children were killed. It's horrible. Have you followed the story of Caleb Flynn? This guy was a music leader at some church outside of Dayton, Ohio. And I guess the one reason the story got a little more attention is because he once auditioned for American Idol. I don't, he didn't make it to the next round or something. I don't even know what the beat. I don't even know why that was added to the story other than like a weird like trivia fact about the guy that gave the story a little more attention. He was singing at his, he's one of the lead singers at his church and he was cheating
on his wife. His wife, the mother of their two daughters. He was cheating with another woman who sang with him in the church. I saw a video of the two of them up on the stage there singing to God, worshiping God, while they were committing adultery with each other. He then killed his wife then staged it to look like an intruder killed her. What in the world is going on? What are you talking about? He's 40. It was a 20 year old intern. He killed his wife while their daughters were sleeping in the house. He was just found guilty by jury. Now it's two daughters. Ten and 12 wrote their data letter. The letters were read aloud in the court.
That's sentencing or something. I don't think you can make it through this. I don't mean to be rude. I just like, I say like this. It's okay if you can't make it through this. So just want you to prepare yourself, prepare your heart, prepare everything for the next few minutes here as these letters of these two sweet girls, sweet adorable girls. Ten and 12 years old are read to Caleb. They don't call him dad. They call him Caleb. And it's the second daughter does. I think the first one is here. Okay. Here it is. And listen to these two girls. Listen to these sweet wonderful girls. I'd like to read one of the girls statements and before I start, I'd just like to say they certainly have their mother's gift of writing. And this is straight from their heart totally unadded it. This is Avis. Dear Daddy, I don't even know where to start. How could you do such a thing?
I looked up to you. I loved you all my heart. And then you lied to everyone. Mommy was the perfect person, the absolute perfect person. What did she ever do to make you hate her so much? She loved you and she cared for you. She took care of you. She loved you with all her heart. She was my best friend. And then you chose to kill the only mother I had. I miss her so much, so, so, so much. You have no idea. How could you cheat on her and go to that awful girl named Alia? I never liked her. She was just a girl who put on a microphone to her mouth and spoke words with a tune. Mommy may not have been a professional singer, but she had the voice of an angel and she wasn't angel. She has been. She is and she always will be.
And plus Daddy affairs are a big sin. But there is still a chance. There is a choice for everything in life. All you have to do is tell God that you are sorry and that you want to confess and repent to Him. I promise you, you won't take away your punishment, but you won't have a life in heaven someday. I cry and cry every day in my heart breaks to see the people I love hurt. I've seen images, pictures and videos of you everywhere on YouTube. My heart aches to see you hurt, but then I think it was your choice. It was your choice to have me for you. It was your choice to go off with that dirty girl. It was your choice to leave the perfect woman, Ashley. It was your choice to lie to everyone. It was your choice to leave your only two daughters. It was your choice to hide everything from everyone. And it was your choice to kill the only mother I've ever had.
Unfortunately, that was a choice that cannot be erased, even though I really wish it could. And look, you and Alia send big time, but you still have a chance to tell God that you are sorry. I pray every night for you and Alia to confess to Jesus that you send. And this is my prayer every night. Dear Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for us and for many blessings. Jesus, I pray that you would help Daddy and Alia to repent to you and confess that they send. Please help them to realize what they've done, to stop lying, and to tell the truth to you. And Jesus, name amen. I promise you, Daddy, that is every single night. Please tell Jesus that you're sorry. And as I said before, it's not going to change your punishment, but it will determine your eternal reward someday. Remember, there's still a chance. There is a choice for everything. I hope you will bring Jesus back into your heart.
Love the evil. Okay. I'm reading on behalf of Alissa. Deer Caleb, this is your daughter Alissa. I love you deeply with all my heart. And it's sad that you can't love anyone but yourself. I wish that you could come to understand that actions have consequences and you have a lot to pay. So please, you have already caused so much pain to your family and the world. The least you could do is tell everyone you did it and received your outcome. So please repent to God, the one who created you. Your time isn't over. Did you really even think about how much pain you would bring your own two daughters?
By the way, Ashley Flynn was the best thing that ever happened to you. You had the best life ever and you decided to throw it away for a girl who was half your age. How could you stand in that church and sing about how much you love God when you knew all the secrets you had inside? And watch your girls cheering you on and your wife who believed in you so much and loved you more than life itself. You truly don't understand how much you hurt my life. I wish you could feel the pain I have been through. Something so tragic and to know that with my father was just shocking, you made me feel like an idiot thinking that I could trust you. But God has been working through me and I have changed.
So our family has never been stronger and through all of what you put me through, God is going to work something out for good. And by the way, I don't plan on coming to see you, Alyssa Flynn. These girls are so incredibly wise. How can they be thinking so clearly and writing so clearly after this? I remember that many times every time another thing stands out. I remember the 12-year-old saying that God is working through me, in me through this and I have changed. You don't need to change 12-year-old girl.
And then the first daughter saying that mommy wasn't a professional singer but she had the voice of an angel. But it's all pray that these girls keep their love of God, keep their strength in Jesus, and their God can be glorified in the overcoming of evil and its consequences.
