Agent location restrictions apply. Product availability varies by market. C-FanDool.com for eligibility. Gambling problem called 1-800-Gemma. We're talking everything from dark matter season 2. Episode 4 looks like Jason and Danielle are going a little russ and Rachel. We're going on a break. All that and more and I'll know episode of UnBinge starting now. Welcome in to UnBinge podcast for the shows movies and news you love. The binge I'm Alfredo Brown joined by Jagger May, Matt Coffing. We're talking everything from dark matter but first, this is for the warning. Seems a little late, bad lead but this is your one and only spoiler warning for dark matter season 2 episode 4.
Yeah, whoops. Right up the top. Why not? What fuck you? You clicked this. This is your choice. To be fair, this was no play must for your decisions. This is exactly what the show is about. A lot of stuff happened but like nothing action where you're like, you spoiled a debt. Like none of that should happen. It was a lot of emotion. People like me were probably fucking annoyed the whole time. A little bit. I can I can tell and I feel like I know you even more just by giving a friend's reference at the top of the show too. You're like, uh, here we go. There's 30 minutes of I don't want to fucking be here. It's not that bad. It's just I really, I'm I need to give room for nuance. Not nuance. Um, give room for like a scale of emotion to pace because to me anytime you slow down a plot on pissed off. I'm pissed off, man. Like the whole like we got to deal with our kids.
And what's fair is that I actually love what happened with a Danielle. I think her trauma. Everything was justified. It's the Jason. Oh, I'm seeing the door thing that I'm just like, I don't have time for this. I don't have time for this man. Let's not do this shit. So I'm intrigued by that though. I'm intrigued by that. Mine the PTSD. Because that's what that is. Well, that's that's my question. Is it PTSD or is it an effect of being in an alternate reality that they're not supposed to be in? We talked about this last episode. Like is it a spiderverse thing? We're all of a sudden they're starting to glitch because they're in the wrong place. It could just be. Potato potato. I mean, it's I think it's a combination of I get PTSD right now. And I'm in my room. Whatever. Yeah. And I can't get what Jason gets with ever, you know, but to me, it's a very key difference. Normally, yes, I would agree. But in this instance, I think it's almost like a snake eating in its own tail because the PTSD from jumping reality reality is then following or getting followed very closely by
the possibility of glitching by not being in your own universe. I think it's feeding into itself creating almost like this never ending cycle of something that maybe gets triggered by a little bit of anxiety. Possibly. Yeah, because I mean, what was Jason doing when he had that little moment? He was just outside throwing the trash right now. It was the act of opening the door that triggered that flashback. And now that's whether it's because he's not in his own reality or because he's traumatized from your running for over a month of his life trying to find his family again. Who knows it's I think it's a chicken and egg kind of situation where he can't really determine which one came first at this point. These feel like elevated versions of panic attacks, but I kind of want to know. A little bit more behind it, not just obviously let it's happening, but they made it such a focal point of this episode to the point that they each both Jason and Daniel track down and chase down the wrong people. And then by the end of it, we're like, you know what, I got to go find myself. You're my person, but I got to get the fuck out of here for some reason.
And that is such a strong decision to make in right. And I don't mean strong isn't good. I stupid. I thought I'm saying I'm not saying strong isn't good writing. I'm saying that that is such a monumental move to make for something that you simply did not explain very well or show very often. You kind of gave us a little bit sprinkle of like I saw a guy I thought he was you and I got to get the fuck out of here like just it didn't really. It was very out of nowhere, at least for me. I did not expect that reaction from Daniel. And I for you know, you're the only one of us who's married. Yeah, let's say even a different of this situation is happening right. You're just having a little bit of a marital like crisis moment is your reaction to take separation time or is your reaction to like come together and try to work it out. Never did it. It's to be fair like to her like this is like I get hurt. I actually I think it's stupid for her to leave, but I understand why she did it. I know that is like talking out of both sides of my mouth. She's experiencing what women deal with every day on a mass fucking scale. And I think about a joke that our our Sam sent us one time in the IG chat, which is like the worst thing that could happen to you is a man having a crush on you.
That's on a fucking multiverse scale for her is that this dude just like Daniel. I love you. Blah blah blah. Just like constantly being hunted throughout multiple universes by one man and even though her Jason isn't a part of whatever fuck shit create and it's none of his fault. She he's still a constant reminder of what's going on. He's a constant matter of danger. I actually kind of get it and it should you leave no you should stay together because like it's not even just well we should stay together because we're going to get lost at a convention if we don't all hold hands. You don't even know what world you're going to be in right and she doesn't have enough practice going navigating the box by herself to where I would believe that she could find them again you know she's going to have some Harry Potter moment. You know like I hit my lighter and it fucking said hey you guys are here in this field. Like that's not going to happen for her. So I don't want to discount her trauma. That's not what I'm doing right like her trauma is real and valid. She literally had to kill a version of her own husband and that's going to leave some lasting marks on your psyche. That's going to leave a heart. Yeah a little bit.
So her feelings of himself. Well this version didn't it was Jason do they did right now this is where things get a little confusing when you have multiple points we have seen Jason one kill at least one right. So I get her need a take time to deal with the trauma but the reaction to isolate yourself I think is the wrong way to do it. I think that's where we're going to get some artificial problems from the show because she went and isolated herself and that's where I'm like it's a little messy from a writing standpoint like there's better ways they could have done this I think. I think it it if you want to stretch and bend in different ways it makes sense as to yes they have the PTSD and this can happen is within the realm of writing possibility. So I think it's a little bit confusing. Coffee you're asking me as like as a married person. No there's never a situation where I'm like I love you so much I want nothing but the best for you and I want to be with you and you're my person and we should protect each other but also we should probably just by some time away like that's and maybe that's a me and Gabby thing but that is never an option like that is never on the table of like we need to be away from each other and I think that's where I get more annoyed by that choice because emotionally it didn't seem to make sense.
Logistically the Jaggy pointed out being in this other world where you don't know what's out there you're already worried about other Jason so logistically it doesn't make sense either what it really does. It's ready to somebody that knows her already twice. Yeah multiple times what this really does is it allows for a new path for the story and if I if I think that we're going to look it from that angle. I don't think it's fair to call lazy but I think what it's doing is it's it's making you have to to to bend and try to follow a story down a longer path as opposed to just taking the point eight point B we're going to go stop at point C point D and point E for a second come back. It just felt clunky and I think my biggest issue with this episode especially is the what Jagger was saying earlier that balance between emotional you know character driven moments and then plot and pacing and I think this episode tipped a little bit too far into the character moments. Yes didn't give us a good enough pacing and plot moments yeah I wanted to see more of what the beginning of the episode we're late and pops out and I'm presuming that is.
Jason one's original home role where now DARPA is studying the box that's what I got from that scene and so when the agent was like oh where are you from I was like okay cool we're going to get some cool little moments and nothing we got nothing from that storyline and I know we'll pick it up later but I felt like we could have done a little bit more this episode with that plot line or the the ending of Amanda and Ryan's plot line where seemingly the utopia is now been hit with a super. Let's do this. That was that was the teaser from last episode let's leave it as the teaser right now we're going to keep talking about it guys if you're enjoying this conversation take a second to like this video comment with your thoughts on the episode down below and the series as a whole unbinded we are covering lanterns Ted Lasso on the audio side and dark matter every single week here as long as these shows are going you can be here with us for the post show recaps on every single one of these you can check us out always here on YouTube. Okay so back to this conversation here. Lincoln was the the cliffhanger at the end of the previous episode and we were really excited to find out what that was and it was kind of a wet fart in this episode and nothing burger it really was and I think that it just it really magnified the issue with this episode in that everything was so that it was a very good thing to do with the character based emotional based and not really getting much plot out of this where they didn't seem to do much more than scratch the very limited surface of the latent character and and just seeing that yoga latent has like the the com fiest clothes that's about it like I still know very little. I think that's as much it could be multiple things where it's both we got maybe too much going on be like I think I need either latent or DARPA cut I don't need both of them them them eliminating some Ryan's that was great cool I don't need sad alcoholic Ryan get rid of him like DARPA and latent are just one too many characters that I need to care about and then when we have even more slowdowns for emotional stuff we get nothing there and let's not forget with DARPA we get the cliffhanger.
cliffhanger I'm going to say cliffhanger we get the scene where she meets Danielle was like a the PTA meeting or some shit like that yeah the diner Danielle yeah yeah whatever yeah I just and I know people are going to complain it's like oh well you need to understand emotion guys we do this all the time there's a lot of shows that just do this better also this is a science fiction show season one when they got emotional it was at moments and it kept on pace so when you divert my expectations it is very valid for me to have a complaint if you like it that is fine but do not bitch at us in the comments because I watch a fuck ton of shows and seen better versions sorry you know what though I'll say this though is like watching season one I've binge through it I can see how if if I was doing the week by week thing like episode four five six where they're just kind of like let's open this door and what's behind this door and what's behind this door where I would have been like okay let's let's get the thing moving along here we're doing a lot of the existential talk a lot of the emotion talk and and I mean we're still getting some of that I think this was just really kind of the first
episode where it was like okay plot slowed down but what are you going to give me for the plot slowing down and I and I think that was the issue here was like like the payoff for the plot slowing down didn't feel like it was enough if anything it was just maybe more annoyed yeah and and again it's not like it's a bad show it's just I feel like the balance was off a little bit they could have done a better job mixing mixing that plot and giving us because they gave us intriguing moments and they just didn't do enough with them this episode and again we know that they'll do something in the future but when you only get eight to 10 episodes of season it becomes that much more important than each one is well balanced it's like a meal we're going to a meal every single week and if one of those weeks that meal is unbalanced like you're going to bitch about it and that's what we're doing we're critiquing something that we're we enjoy overall you know I'd love to hear from people some of our older audience or anyone that has had kids go off to college and and become empty nesters because that's something that I've heard that it's like there's really only two
ends of the spectrum here you're either devastated that your kids are out of the house or you're ecstatic that they're out of the house and and obviously maybe there's a little more nuanced so it's a little more complicated but I have to imagine that's also a big factor at play here is having their son out of the house because they even say like it's so quiet now just without that third person and I'm wondering if that real world silence makes the loudness inside their head that much worse and that's totally after soon right yeah because it's their son and I'm not saying that his problems aren't valid or anything like that but his problems were so loud and vocal that it's easy to focus on him to where you don't even think about your own sadness and again I'm not a parent but I hear what other parents tell me you know and that's what I feel like they're going that that's what I feel like they're going through right now it's like cool I don't have this lightning rod for my emotions to help fix my son so now I'm all this just think about how sad that I am so and I do I like that he wants to college because again I think we need to
tight and shit back up like I can't listen to the sun bitch I thought the the kid having a problem in slowing shit down is like again it's very real I understand it it's fucking annoying and it's an old trope like I really hate it so I'm happy the kids gonna go to school and maybe fuck off for like the rest of the season I think the ideal jack show has like four characters like little to no romance not heavy with romance that's necessary you guys you see you guys always make like put me in a box it's not true it's just that like I I'm okay with romance but does the romance add to the plot does it do anything for the story like I think about Game of Thrones we go back to Jon Snow and Egrit that was a plot mover that was a plot device split for their romance when you have other shit where you got to like oh I got a stop and Figure out my relationship or figure out my sexuality and you're in the middle of a fucking crisis or I don't know a multiverse
That's a clear problem guys like it's not Even Harry Potter I feel like handled romance a lot more naturally than a lot of these other shows do because they think being prestige is Having these actor moments is like all right. Let's slow down and have a 15 minute monologue because people actually talk like that It's just not true. Yeah, I'll play There's a lot of romance. I don't know if I would advocate for Harry Potter romance it boiled down to like oh you I watch your boyfriend die You want a bang no cool. Oh buddy. You're being in our best friend. I'm gonna be your sister. That's Harry Potter romance in a nutshell Confedent is not that's not all that's happened like everyone ignore that as a person that has now listened to the audiobooks You're incorrect. You're incredibly Stay for a long time a long time. Yeah, yeah, it's feelings for Ron. I know buddy doesn't want to give in all right All right, you see why coughs not married
I'll say is if I'm gonna play devil's advocate with the the relationship stuff And this is not me saying like that I love this episode We need the episode to go this way I think a lot of the arguments at times is just gonna be that life is like that life is messy life is just there Are gonna be a relationship and emotional things that get in the way and that's what the writers are trying to do is make This thing that is not real life feel more like real life so it can be relatable and The problem is is that as an audience that relatable portion is only gonna hit a small niche part of your audience It's not going to hit everyone so you get so many people watching that get alienated and we're like what the fuck man Like show me the box. What's what's next in the plot? Why is this character here? What's in the box? It's also like It's not realizing that your audience is more intelligent even emotionally intelligent sometimes like see emotions You see emotions. This is hard emotions and I'm like I fucking get it move on it's sad like I don't The show does do that it relies a lot on the existentialism of
choices being made Your your reason for existing whether it's in this reality or the next one like every single episode Just seems to be so intrinsic where it's we even get Jason to Talking about like and talking to Amanda where he's like she's like yeah, you stole his life because you couldn't handle your own Intimacy issues and I'm like I don't know probably just could have gone to therapy and the show doesn't happen I do like that she read him to filth she like give him a chance to hang himself his own own rope and then she's like you fucking Idiot and lay it like laid the law down on him. So that was a good scene That is a much more than that matters and it will be fine. Yes. Yes. Yeah, he's hopefully learning a lesson She was the one to provide it to him because she was one of the most hurt by his actions So yeah, that was a well-earned moment and that's where like if that was the only Part of that or if that was the only emotional beat of the show I think it would have worked well if you then jumped to Layton doing some stuff because I still don't know what his motivation is the altruism feels false
Like there's got it feels like he's hiding something. Yeah, and I don't know if it's like insecurity if it's if it's An ulterior motive, but like I want more of that storyline and I think this episode really Could have given us a little bit more of Layton and we would have been better served for it And maybe put the beat burners on some of deniela and jason's issues because we have gotten out two and a half seasons of Primarily them Let's give some room for some other characters And we got that with Ryan I will say Like that's I agree and don't agree with you We don't need more characters. We just need to focus on the cool characters like again focus on the ones they already gave us Well, I was saying like give us more Layton Yeah, yeah, like DARPA needs to go away I could said because like one reason I'm not connecting more with Layton is like you said I don't I don't I don't Understand anything like one or three of them now and I have equal parts of three whereas Jason one and Jason two
There is a lot there to where both characters I can understand I'd see them emotionally Layton is like wow there's a lot of cool shit. You have a lot of money. You inherited stuff There's a lot of different cool versions of you But I don't care about you because we don't spend more than four seconds and then when we do we get this weird I Won't call it like a monologue you say something like trippy like some fortune cookie ship But whatever different version of fortune cookie that you are then we kind of move on, you know Like I think we just want to know what his motivation is like why is he doing all these things? Why are each the versions of him doing the things that they're doing and I get it if maybe they're trying to keep that as like the mystery that keeps you You know entranced by this latent character, but it's also kind of making sure that we just don't get connected to him in any way And that's that's more annoying than anything else at the moment Right so given that we don't know much about him or his motivations do you guys think he's more like a Richards type do you think he's more like a Rick Sanchez type do you think he's more of a
kind type where he is Late late like I think he's a council of like King the conqueror is different You know king king never tried to even justify being good He's just like fuck yeah, this is my shit nigga and then like latent is Trying to be like you said cough altruistic, but it's bad in the long term, right? Like he's definitely and I love that you said that because I wish there was a council of latins when and again McNamara is another one because he reminds me of King at least sort of like victor timely Where like these guys I want to see more of this where it feels like latent Because they even mentioned like he made like a Multiversal doctors without board borders. Yeah, that's fucking Why are we talking about that like why are we talking about this whole episode could have been if we're being before being for real That's what I'm saying Daniel and Jason should take a small back seat and let's explore some of these other characters that they've
Introduced and have given us very little of like latent like Blair Like what's going on with Blair because we saw the murder hornet Blair. She stepped back into the box We don't know where she's been or what she's up to has she been secretly in this world with low like low tech world with them or what I Have a bad feeling that I know what Daniel is gonna go do to quote find herself She's gonna go look at Jason. No, she's gonna go look for her dad and see if he's still alive after seeing the store God, I don't want to see that. I don't want to care about her dad I don't care Jack make me care about your problems Why women in their stupid ass problems You know, I'm not like that. I just watched the Lizzy board story on Netflix Like Charlie Hunter has a whole like a red. He's like women in your clock clock clock
I'm glad Sam's not here to hear this right now her clocking Oh, she has a clock at all like Sam is not a clocker like Sam is there is a clocking even be For her no, we're just in general. Oh, well not not to spoil it But it's just like hey mom killed all my does Did that shit? Yeah, she did it. She's like mom killed all my doves, which is inherently horrible And then he loses it on his like do you think I care about birds and like rants like that again That's very emotional. I needed that for that story But like here I do not want to see Danielle find herself with her dad. I do not care about that man No, we're like why he matters to her Not or and it's least not been enough towards prominent if you guys like you didn't watch the story Why would I fucking care about that detail is my question? Why would I care about that? Like if he was the one that like as a child he was always the one that could recent her her Help her find her creative expression through her art
She bought her for first packet crayons Instead of a green lantern suit Poppig me my crayola wait across the time lines cough. I love it Yeah, I think if there was something more I could be like okay I'm down with wherever she's going or whatever she's doing but it almost feels like okay now that Charlie the Sun is like off at college. It's almost like the excuse of like okay cool. I can go be on my own That's what it feels like more than anything is that like now that she doesn't have any responsibility She can go be fully irresponsible and just do whatever she wants you know it's almost like a crisis type thing I mean like crisis do it put it Now that my sons in school and I can see how sad my husband is I'm gonna go off and do hot girl shit in the multi-verse Hit up that bakery my husband My husband's are doing mad. I was like yeah, yeah, yeah Hispanic dry ass pastries
That's probably so good They're really dry man. What are like anytime I go to like the the Salvadorian bakery or like the Mexican bakery like I get like their pastries are good I'm sorry France brutally mocks like the South American pastries Oh, it's cuz France put hold on we gotta talk about what pastry is you're actually eating sir What do you what do you have it when you go to the big old bucket puff things with the line in it? Yeah, that's a fucking Okay, man first of all there's no more those are conscious dude Gondra. I thought they were conscious. Yeah, I can dry dude. Don't fucking stock dude for first of all That's and I'm sorry for our brothers and sisters to the South in Mexico. All right Mexican Gondra's it's not it. It's not it. I need to take their terrible dog. I need to take you to a Cuban bakery cough You've had Cuban bakery stuff Cuban bakery Fox like it absolutely fox getting up on me though. They were a brava the queso that any of it's just it's phenomenal
Colombian you get yourself a fine. They won't it's like a really soft bread that has like with cheese to it too Oh, okay, you got me at the chain maybe grow change your fucking life. It's yeah. Yeah, no I remember someone's like you you're gonna go to the the paneria and you're gonna love a conch and I had it and I'm like And you have some milk The problem is you're in Arkansas Okay, that's that you can't judge that you know how many Mexicans we have in Arkansas dog I literally live like there's a papusa ria down the street like You can't shut on Arkansas on food like Colorado has good Mexican food like what do you think the illegals come first the south dog and The border Like there's no more talking as a legal like I have documented what happens if if if an undocumented person comes in They go through the border. They're like Arkansas is pretty sweet. I think I'm gonna stay here like how long did they really look around
Uh, they saw rent and their life South Florida's a little far we're not going there. Yeah Anyway, we got weird. Sorry guys. We didn't get weird the people love this I don't know what patients you like in the comments. That's right. Yeah Um, okay So What the fuck dude he's trying to be France You're just a little incredibly racist I work at a fresh right French wrestler. I'm alone Okay, uh, okay The We get our this version of Ryan and Amanda ending it back in what's called peskadia and they get Police CBC look like the cc with guns Well, if there's a super virus going around if it's like what that one was because last time that Amanda was there There wasn't a super virus or is this maybe not their same reality?
Well, no, it's hers because she has the Brazilian thing so then so then are we seeing how does Have we established a high law works the same know like whether when they've been when they've been away That I don't think we've established that there's any time variances But we also don't know how long they were gone So could have been this Ryan was gone a year But again that could fluctuate from universe to universe right Yeah, I mean we saw what happened from January to March shit got real back in 2021 Oh, yeah, so they could have been gone. Let's say they were gone conservatively two weeks, right? That could have been The start and then they initiated a quarantine and now they came back. They're out of quarantine You think they had a Fauci in that in that reality Layton Layton You think they have an Aaron Rogers oh 100 Aaron Rogers a Pat McAfee a Joe Rogan Do you think they have sports in the universe
She calls it a place in every universe Humans humans want a carol and they could compete at sex that's an option But I'm saying like if they're all in touch their emotions enough I don't think games like football would exist because that's too violent and like primal Maybe it's like I don't know man. I think we I don't think it's primal. They just might like fix injury. I don't know humans are primal dude like they are primal I mean sex itself is primal. No I don't have sex that's fair. That's fair. I should have I shouldn't have assumed you do I'm not sure on me. This is on me. This is on me for having a microphone my bad. Yeah So I think what that does though is like even though it feels I don't want to call it throw away But it feels so small and in comparison to the rest of the episode I think that opens questions up to time passing in certain realities things changing dramatically in certain realities That like even the realities that seem safe or seem great like that was the utopia and that has now been fucked up
Right like is that a is that a one-off thing in that reality or Is old this jumping around in the box causing these realities to slowly fall into disarray Yeah, cuz you're getting cross contamination Like to be honest again, how many more rions are running around how many more At multiple people that like run around getting sick hopping in a box and be like oh do you have a cure? And now like this whole world's got cancer like that's just I don't The Jason to love the transformer sound you to there That's what cancer sounds like to me. Yeah, we've seen the guy who's like very clearly super Latino And he's trying to say up. Optimus Prime and he sees like optimum pride. Wow. Okay. I have seen that I'm sorry We don't know what kind of consequences there's gonna be from having all these different versions jumping around
So is it as simple as one accidentally brought a contaminant into another universe and now it's like super fucked or Are there consequences to having people live outside their own universe and be outside their universe? And I think that would be an interesting thing that they could tease this season and if they do a season three really explore in season three Well, you have to think about it right. It's imagine every reality like a body and every Every person that enters that's not supposed to be there is like a foreign object foreign entity, right? So it's kind of like a little virus entering every single time and it's okay How many more have you created here in this reality and just like slowly but surely the more you do it the sicker that reality gets Jason to his herpes and like actually sick not like I kick flipped off a half pipe sick That's the reality sick nasty bro It's like a just like a ninja turtles 1990s reality
With skateboards and serve pizza somebody's scoot like skateboards up to you be like rad bro. Here's your scooter Throw the mountain-due code red at you The white monster It's just perpetually the 90s. I want that world Bring it back Everything's extreme, but it's better than X Everything is just like a goofy movie too Vin Diesel is there Leonardo caprio Oh, yeah Vin Diesel like fucking drifts up. He's like welcome to the family. Here's your oak leaves The secret to the multiverse family Welcome to the sec view to Their citizen Kane in that reality Which of which of these realities would you guys actually want to live in based on the ones we've seen so far They're all kind of lights X
Low tech world seems kind of cool Now fuck that I see too much. I can't go back world no social media hear me out hear me out. That's fair cough That is a you thing man. I have fun on social media Like me is that that universe have we established they got payphones So no cell phones if I'm Jason notice technology getting rich it's fuck. I'm like here's if you notice Yeah in the last episode there was a reference to latent The latent of their world possibly Introducing the microchip and then there was a competitor who's like super pissed off about it It was like how the hell it'd beat us to it like nobody we've been work on this forever. So It may be some latent fuckery going on in the background and that create consequences in low tech world Jaguar totally be the bifte cannon of that reality Just using all of his future knowledge to his benefit. Oh, yeah
Okay now like that. Yeah, that doesn't mean only what I did. I'm like fuck yeah, man like events something cool Like that's what I do like that you stayed very altruistic. You're like let's invent something cool It's gonna help people and not like Let's go bet on the sea hawks to beat the page units and super bowl I gamble for money dog like for what else to you gamble for Well I wouldn't even get on the future because it'd be a full blown butterfly effect because technically me showing up Immediately could affect the outcome of those of a game. We saw that in the documentary hot tub time machine when he tried to bet on the Broncos game in the scroll got in the way So yeah, are you telling me that back to the future's just bullshit? Nah, it's hot tub time machine is the the most accurate version of time travel Imagine Neil deGrasse Tyson sets up. Yes
Do you guys think we're gonna get any sort of time travel here because it feels like obviously everything we're doing here is so adjacent to it I hope not I hope they stay away from that because then you're crossing the streams in a bad way But just stick to one sci-fi plot device and do that don't try to don't try to bring time travel into this shit I think I'm worried bad idea. I think I'm worried not that they're gonna do time travel but that there is going to be More users with the box that are going to make the problems even bigger like jagger. I know you're trying that's dope Well, that's cool because that's an expansion on the existing problem So yes and no I Think that our users potentially using the box could end up being DARPA Trying to look for Jason and so just to crack the multiverse. Yeah, yeah, I could see that having some pretty in significant issues It could be cool, but it's also like you have to you have to write that very delicately so that we just don't have
I Don't know I can't think of a better word maybe like overwhelming storyline where you're just like there's so much to track at this point Well, I think you could only get so big like I feel like there's only three or four seasons of this because you need to You either need to kill everyone say hey, this is fucked Thanks for coming or or like wrap it up because I or I mean maybe we're maybe we're not having fun here Maybe we really should think of this is like we could have this ever expanding story That can go on forever and then like quantum leap or something like that. I don't know what's Joel Edgerton's contract like with Apple It doesn't this doesn't feel like it's a long-term thing like this feels very much like we are gonna neatly close this and read maybe four seasons at most I think so I think one of the things that they haven't explored yet Purposely and I think it's because they want to use it possibly in the future is like We have now seen multiple instances of multiple people being the box at the same time
What happens if they try to open two doors or multiple doors at the same very season by the way Gotcha just looked at a community So what happens if say DARPA Unlocks the box unlocks the secrets of the box somehow and And then they go in and they just start willy-nilly opening doors is that what kind of issues does that happen if they open multiple doors at the same time Yeah, or are they gonna somehow create like if you like a fucking black hole and accidentally destroy all realities Hmm There's different ways they go about this and what kind of crisis are they going to try to you know What's interesting is I'm looking at this right now and it is three seasons but season one was what was based on the book And everything else is new yeah everything else is new and and jag you've mentioned a couple times like they have the author Helping I believe right? He's on board everything with this here Yeah, so I mean
This is kind of cool. We're hitting uncharted territory. I think everything's on the table for what they could do for the rest of the season I'm in season three Yep, if that's the case then if it's only three seasons obviously season three feels like it has to it's gonna be your big finish Season two in so many ways we might have to just set our expectations that it's going to be a bit of a bridge I know I know, but do you think it's gonna have a happy ending at the end or is it gonna be like no existential crisis like this is a I think you have to set up your final season with existential crisis Yeah, and I think it's gonna be one where it it won't be happy It will be resolved and no one is happy like it's not perfect like that's you guys know how to talk about perfect endings That's not how fucking life works You get dealt your hand and you do the best with what you have and that would mean that like Jason I wouldn't be surprised if Jason just like finds a way to delete himself from like like like I mean literally delete him from existence
Wish big was here because he's read cradle That is an option in cradle like like they they they have something called the Abaddon And they basically rule the multiverse and they will delete your existence from like all reality And like I think that's the only way you could truly fix things And then I wonder if like McNamara forms like a TVA because they already have it like maybe there is a TVA They just don't show us enough for us to draw any meaningful conclusions the the Jason Sort of self-deleting is that do you think that would be more like an edit undo button For this whole story Yeah, or is that just more of a stop the bleeding Yes to both okay Well, cuz like one is only it stops things from going forward the other one like actually undoes all of the bad things that have happened in the multiple realities I don't think there is a clean fix all the issues. Yeah, there's gonna be a lot that feels like it would have a lot of secondary More problems because you've deleted Jason's from every reality which would delete Charlie which was yeah
Which would change Daniela's life would change Ryan's life late in life like it's I don't I don't think there's just a delete him thing That can go back I think I could I could see and we kind of already saw this in the resolution season one Where Jason possibly DARPA is chasing him right Maybe he decides that Daniela and Charlie are better off without him And then he decides to either isolate himself for quarantine himself or turn himself in And that's his way of saving his family and letting them escape So I should ask me off if she goes off on her own and then comes back and he's like actually Now I want to go on your left But I can see that kind of sacrificing what resolves the story ultimately is yeah Sacrificing himself for his family. I think that seems to be the most poignant way for it to end It does but I almost ask myself if I don't want that because
That feels like the way that like that feels like the map that we are on the destination that we're leading to right It's just him making the sacrifice to keep his family alive to undo the the the sins of all the Jason's not just his own It remains very altruistic or remains very existential Uh, it does make most sense though I mean, we still have a season and half so who knows what happens he could lose Daniela in Charlie on the way When then we see him like let's say that's the route they go with season two is he ultimately somehow loses Daniela and Charlie And then we see him at the point where he is now the new Jason too looking at other universes Because in his trauma and his in his desperation to get them back He's willing to then fuck over another version of himself to get what he thinks he lost Could we see that kind of dark turn? I'd kind of love that I think A little and then it'd be Jason Jason having to go and stop him Oh, there's no reversal
Hmm Low role playing here on dark matter season three everybody All right, I think uh, I think that's gonna that's gonna do it for us here uh an episode four of dark matter season two I want to thank everybody for watching or listening all the way through for myself for cough to jag We'll see you next time ideas Then dual is now available everywhere in the US So you can get in on the sports action no matter where you are Including these places May this year most rewarding season ever with fan dual age and location restrictions apply product availability varies by mark cfan dual.com for eligibility gambling problem called 1-800-Gemmar
