Don't be afraid unless you're missing these deals. Honda harvest has arrived at Greenlight with huge savings across all five Kansas City locations. The best cannabis deals always at GreenlightDespensary.com. It's time to catch up with our college football insider Braden Gaul. Now in the zone with Jason Anderson on sports radio 810 WHB. Everyone has their own mental health risk and health risk advantage 永u grading was able get it, but one case and minuses. Another Hutch B in the demonstrator. Susan Mrotco in the phase of rising housing. Two days away from 0 to 0 in the specially ha覺. Jason Anderson with just fine. Man, I was really hoping that, and I know you were as well, that after the
second attempt for the onsite in which they get it, I was going to, you know, if something happened there, I was going to come on the show with you today and go, I told you about Dolly Parton. We had Vanderbilt last week, and now we get Tennessee this week. I told you the power of Dolly, and instead that didn't happen. But oh man, it felt like a chance. Even the ghost of Dolly Parton is incapable of teaching a 18-year-old supposed to be senior in high school. The ability to read one of the best defenses in America, and it's first ever at BC Start. It's so weird. I think, like, I've posed, I threw something out after the game. As a Tennessee alum, I was quite proud of the performance. As an analyst, like disappointed, but like, I never thought they were going to win. I never thought they should win. They gave us some crazy chaos moments there at the end. The defense played incredibly well, you know, whatever. As an analyst, like, man, this is one of the best
defenses in the league. The tightest, the tightest. The ball's defense completely shut down. One of the most talented and dynamic offenses in college football. The crowd was incredible and a big story. At an 18-year-old who's really supposed to be a senior in high school just wasn't quite like the game was just too fast, too big for him at this point in his career, but it's a great learning experience. Like, there's no way for me to watch that and be like, I rate more angry or disappointed. And when you post that, I think if it gets misconstrued as like a fan take, then it then text, look, look, look at this guy huffing the copium off of the game. It's like, what are you talking about? Like, in my tweet, I was like, he made Faeson Brandon made a ton of mistakes. Like, he could not see the play. He could not see it downfield. The pressure was incredible. Like, the Simmons and company were at his feet at all times. Like, they couldn't run the football. It was a great Texas defensive
performance. It was a great Tennessee defensive performance. Texas is by far the better team with the fourth year star quarterback who was got manning on his back and like, their number one in the nation. They did the thing that a number one team in the nation is supposed to do. And the 18 year old freshman on a team ranked 14 did the thing that a freshman on a team ranked 14 is supposed to do. Like, I always write in the world. I don't understand. Yeah, the if you had told me that, you know, they recover the onside kick and they get the ball at, you know, almost, you know, midfield or so. And they've got a minute 22 to go. And they only pick up like six yards. I would have said, okay, fourth down. They go, they lose on downs. Not, no, they took the entire clock to somehow penalties back and forth to gain six yards. Seven yards. I don't know how, and I don't know what the total was. There were probably like four plays or something like it wasn't. I don't even remember what it was. I look at it. Like, I was watching with my oldest daughter and my wife like left
the room to go like, get ready. She had some some date night or something with the girls or whatever. I was taking my girl to National FC match. And so like, we were sitting around watching and she like leaves when they're up by 10. And like, frankly, there was no reason to think that Tennessee was ever going to put us a long drive together again. Like, phase on brain his head was spinning. And that's okay. Like, that's okay. You're a very young player, very talented player going up against the best team in the country. A great defense with a great of the coach who, well, I don't, I don't think Will Mustamp is like the greatest coordinator since sliced bread. But like, he's been around a long time and knows how to know how to attack certain things. And, you know, I, I just thought I just thought it was a really, you know, was it poorly played by the offensive lines? You could say that. Like, if you want to be, you know, a critic and kind of nitpick, but I thought it was a really good football game. Like, I thought it was a great SEC football game. Sloppy and a little, you know, imbalance at times offensively by both sides. Like archmaning where you got
to know where the line of scrimmages, bud. Like, you've been around a long time. Look. Yeah. So like, I think there was some mistakes by both quarterbacks, but by and large, I think the defenses were speeding everything up. I still think Georgia's the best team in the SEC. I don't, you know, I wouldn't, I have not had Texas at number one, even in the conference, much less the country at any point during the year. And I still think Tennessee is like, you know, somewhere in that five to eight range in the conference. I think they're a very good team. I don't think they're ready to be a playoff contender. And I think that's what we saw on Saturday. Yeah. And if they had somehow, you know, taken the ball after the onside kick with a minute 20 to go and scored a touchdown in one, the headline could have been that Texas peas down their leg and loses the game. That would have been fun. That had been a good one. So I loved it. I love it. Like, you don't hear the words vulgar come out of a play by playman. Uh, mouth very often, mostly because, uh, you know, Trump was moving around and so we couldn't hear her. Which I don't know. I don't know why they didn't just say that on the broadcast like, hey, we know that the president is in attendance
and when, when, you know, when he has to go to the bathroom after his seventh diet coke, well, you know, we've got to shut all the communications off. So, um, I don't know why they didn't just didn't say that because that's clearly what was going on with herb street's microphone. Yeah. Um, again, allegedly. Uh, and so it like that's like, look, I don't personally have any like major issues with celebration stuff like slow, like, let's go to like the throat slash gesture or like using a weapon like it's, it's poor taste. It is not classy. It is not the brand I would want to portray for myself, but I'm a 44 year old dad, you know, um, I am, I am so far beyond if I ever was any layer of cool or fun or hip or young or whatever. But even then, even that, I watched that one in like my nine year old, she looks over me and she was like, what's he doing? I was like, uh, he's peeing, honey. He's peeing on his own. Keep it going, buddy. Well, we don't lie to our kids.
We don't lie to our kids. Well, they ask a question. We give them a straight answer. And, uh, and, uh, kids are very cool. They will, uh, the follow up question. They are ready for the answer to the follow up question. She did not really have any other follow up question. Okay. I think he's peeing. That makes sense. All right. Very good. Um, uh, she was like, oh, yeah, there you go. Oh, that makes sense. Yeah. I see it now. Yep. I got it. I got it. That's great. And, and the whole cool thing here is like, um, you're not as cool as you think you are, but you're cooler than your kids think you are. So as a parent. Yeah. That's true. That's true. But like, think about the Baker Mayfield like crotch, like the like the old twig and berries grab. You know, that was a Kansas, I think. Yep. Um, and like, like, again, is this some indictment of somebody's character? Does it make them a terrible human being? No, you are a, you are a collection of a million decisions and behaviors. And it's just not that pick of a deal, but also like, uh, maybe we probably shouldn't do that on national television.
You know, like, yeah, you know, or or have a head coach call another team's defensive player, the, uh, the, the, the, the, the third letter of OPP, um, on national TV on Monday Night Football, like last night with Nick Sireon, so maybe, maybe don't have that happen either. Uh, brain gala's our guest for 40 podcast ESPN radio. Um, I'd like to welcome Tennessee to the group of being the ones that people take shots at to, uh, tear down the SEC or show that the SEC is not as good or it's being built up by voters. Uh, and I mean that as in like, this week, it felt like there was a, um, an attack on Mizzou and Tennessee for being ranked. Um, I saw both of them, like, how is Mizzou? How is Tennessee still ranked after that? And these, they beat nobody and they're just, uh, they stay ranked so that the SEC can have, um, you know, good wins. That has typically just been the, um, the spot for Mizzou to be in. Um, so, so I
appreciate having some company there when people are trying to downgrade the SEC. So, uh, so welcome, I guess, you know, yeah. Okay. So lots of lots here. Number one, polls don't matter until every game has been played. So if anybody really wants to spend their time complaining, now I think, if I'm going to go to a tap room and hang out with my buddies and we want to argue about who the best teams are, and it should be right. Like that's, that's, that's what they're for. They're for fun with friends, hopefully in real life, in face-to-face situations where you can spend time together and your life will last longer and you'll be happier because of it. Um, that's what those things are for. That's the LeBron Jordan debate. That is Brady Manning debate. Like that's what those things are for. That's what makes sports great. That's awesome. But if you're angry about it, I got nothing for you, man. Like just like, who cares? Because none of it actually matters until every single game has been played. I don't know if Tennessee and Missouri are going to be excellent examples of quality SEC depth or maybe they were a little overrated in the preseason. Like I don't have a clue. Nobody knows
how they're going to finish. But I'll say right now that if you just watch the game that Tennessee played against the number one team in the nation with a true freshman quarterback, I do not know how you can argue that that that they played poorly in that situation. Um, uh, Missouri, you know, looks pretty good on the road against Kansas. Is that a thing that you're like, that you're going to knock them for? I don't know. They had the lead. Yeah. Against what could be the best Mississippi state team we've seen in a decade. One of the most transcendent players potentially in this sport this year. And they had the lead on the road in a incredibly hostile environment. Again, I don't know that performance like to to the original point. Like I don't know if that performance by Missouri on the road against Mississippi state tells us that the middle of the SEC is really great. Or if the middle of the SEC is average, I don't know if Tennessee's performance tells us that the offense is super overrated and the Texas is overrated or that they're both really good. We just we don't know right now because we are
not even, you know, we're like barely a third of the way through the season. And so I what what I see in the SEC personally based on watching big 10 big 12 ACC and the conferences that are that are contending for championships on a routine basis. And I'm watching the big 10 systematically eat itself in like really disappointing ways is not the same thing as losing on the road to one of the most dynamic players in the sport in the final minute or losing at home to the number one team in the nation like losing to Western Michigan, losing to Wisconsin at home, losing to Oklahoma state that did not win a game last year in power conference football on the road. Like these are very different situations in my opinion. Yeah. Then I think some of the things that we've seen in the SEC like LSU losing on the road to Ole Miss. How is that a normal football outcome? Like that that is a one off game that that is just impossible to quantify from like an emotion standpoint. The A&M lost LSU is completely mind boggling. That one I'm just like I have no clue.
Oklahoma wildly overrated their offense at John Matier. I like I almost like I almost showed those plays to my wife last night when I was rewatching the highlights and just to be like to be like hey I hope he has some good friends on campus like seriously because those plays were so embarrassing in the modern world where you know young people have too much anxiety and depression and social media and downward pressure and all this other stuff like I'm there was a moment in that game where I was like genuinely concerned for his mental health and that like he has been so bad. So like we can just say the thing like Oklahoma totally disappointing I didn't have them making the playoffs but I thought they'd be better than this A&M I had them making the playoffs and I thought they'd be much better than this hugely disappointing but if you look at the SEC Kentucky's way better Mississippi states way better I think Missouri might even be a little bit better Tennessee might be a little bit better Florida is way better than we thought other than South Carolina being disappointing and and A&M and Oklahoma those are three big ones but other teams have just taken
their spot and appear to be just as good. I still think the depth in this league like if you want to go like it's Florida is the fifth best team and Tennessee is the sixth best team and Mississippi states the seventh best team and Missouri's the eighth best team or whatever like that doesn't include Ole Miss that doesn't include LSU that doesn't include Alabama Texas or Georgia those teams are all like way better than what's happening in third more fifth sixth place in other conferences and I'll sit here and say I think the big 12 is clearly more balanced and better than we expected but we still don't know what that means relative to other teams relative to Notre Dame relative to the best teams in college football I just see more balance in that league it's going to be super fun but I don't know what that like I don't know if that's a three-bid league where teams can all go deep or if it's or if or if Texas tech is just back to the pack right like we just don't know and I again I'm I'm willing to say we don't know about all these things. Yeah and I always the rankings
thing I'm with you it sort of it gets annoying this early in the season and and I like I think if if a team is number 19 and they go on the road and lose to a team that you moved up to number 16 in the country then does that mean that they are not a top 25 team at that point and and they were leading it at that time like Tennessee dropping from 14 to 17 okay they lost by three at home to the number one team in the land right okay so they dropped but it doesn't mean that we'll now get them out of the top 25 because they lost a game like it's all you know conversation for you know guys sitting around at a bar but as the weeks go on then we'll see I just what I would say is if Mizzou ends up like four and you know eight then I don't think you know Mississippi state or Florida if they win go well that was a top 25 win I mean at the time it was but now we know it's not let's look at it from a holistic approach so like I'm do I do power rankings on the FAC football live every Tuesday on the 440 sports YouTube page social media F podcast channel you can get all
the shows there but SEC football live is the one we'll recover a lot of stuff myself and Trey Wallace and so what's interesting is like I we do power rankings and like I'm a very slow adjuster of power rankings and I actually had Missouri up to spot this week I think I had them I think I had them at 11 last week and I think they're going to be nine this week but that's because Oklahoma and A&M have to drop and if so like I'm moving Mississippi state and Missouri up and it's only be like Mississippi state because they have looked very good they have two quality wins and are moving up the rankings but I don't have them above Florida I don't have them above I think I might have them just slightly ahead of Tennessee but if you told me right now a neutral field who's going to win Tennessee or Mississippi state I might take Tennessee's defense but I think I you know I totally understand the case for Camario Taylor the point is like if you look at Missouri and you line them up with how they have looked on a field just based on their games they have played significantly better football than Texas A&M and Oklahoma even Kentucky certainly
the rest of the league you know South Carolina Auburn you know whatever like Vanderbilt and Arkansas obviously so are they better than Florida right now I don't think I can make that case are they better than Mississippi state certainly can't make that case although if they played in Missouri would it be a surprise if the outcome was flipped no and so I think that's my key like a close loss on the road in particular is to me is viewed as like well no you played an even game you are about the same as the other team sure I'm going to rank them ahead of you but you're about the same and so if Mississippi state ranked 15 or in my power ranking 7th or 8th then I Missouri in my mind Missouri has to be pretty close because their resumes right now are basically the same and they play the game where they were basically the same and so that's that's that I don't I never understood why college law playoff committee you know pollsters people on social media whatever why we don't view a close loss on the road in particular as like hey they two plays go this way
they win the game why is that not eat why are you not why did you not just prove to everyone that you are even with that team like that's what I don't assume everything else is equal on your resume why would you not be the lost doesn't necessarily like I never understood that like I feel like we're smarter and can add more context to these things and that it's just as hard it's hard to break like old college football man brain where they're like no zero in lost column equal good brain gall is is our neanderthal guest 440 podcast in the ESPN radio bouncing around the country a little bit was a Desmond Stevens get suspended for one game with the hit on Dante Moore is the suspension because of the hit or how he acted after the hit so I'm I'm actually probably offer a little bit of leeway on like the smiling thing afterward and maybe even like how he was cheering on his team when he came back onto the field on the sideline like I don't really care
what you do on the sideline if you're trying to cheer on your team I do think like like I haven't heard him talk about this so I don't want to speak out of turn but a lot of times these things happen so fast that you don't have replay you're not intent I hope you are not intentionally trying to like send someone to the hospital and so if that's the case like is there a little bit of grace on like hey you pop up you celebrate you don't really know how bad it is or whatever and then on a sideline everyone's going so berserk and everyone's screaming at you and if you thought you delivered a clean hit which clearly it wasn't could you see someone smiling sort of in that way we do when you're just like I can't believe I just got kicked out of the game or I can't believe that this is how they're reacting or I can't you know what I'm saying like without I'm not excusing his behavior and I'm not saying it's like positive or whatever the suspension should be for the hit I don't think you should suspend the guy because you like we're smiling on while taking a knee or whatever again I'd have to go back and like rewatch the entire thing again
but there are definitely moments where you know you disagree with a ref's call or something and you kind of just like smile shake your head or whatever and they're in the heat of the moment I just you know like I just some sort of like the same thing with like the bad celebrations it's like it's not a good look but it's not the end of the world the hit is the problem guy yeah yeah let's not lose sight of the hit being the problem and what I have now found and I don't know if you guys have seen this but the U.S.E. radio broadcast oh yeah we're gonna be the real yeah that guy that guy is literally just lying to his audience even so much though that the people in his booth are like whoa dude yeah like Sean Cody is like the video is great we're gonna play it after the segments on the next segment we'll play that audio oh my god the video is great also the spotter is just as bad as the play by play announcer because the spotter is like pointing to a shoulder like he had a shoulder you didn't slide feet further you know and then he got spun around there if there was all bad and and should clarify too for for the listener that Desmond Stevens was
suspended by USC not the not the the big 10 yeah USC's specifically did that and then yesterday Desmond Stevens put out a statement he hasn't talked but he did a statement said I want to sincerely apologize for my actions during Saturday's games seeing a player injured like that is incredibly serious and my reaction in the moments afterward was completely inappropriate and inexcusable regardless of what was going through my mind at the time there's no justification for smiling or celebrating while another player receives medical attention I take full responsibility for my actions not that's not the person or teammate I want to be I will learn from this I am deeply sorry to Dante his family and everyone who saw my reaction it's not representative of USC or I program or our program I hope he makes a full and speedy recovery look look obviously written by a PR professional that is everything that is everything you want a young person to say after making a mistake and then it's over it's over after that it's over it's over like it's just like holly row archmaning he laughed they apologize it's over we move on it's it things happen
we learn from them we apologize it's okay like it we don't have to lose our minds it's not it's it's okay like honestly I should have written that statement for how I celebrated in my living room when Caleb Williams got hurt you know like I should I should not have behaved that way I apologize to Caleb's family yeah all Chicago Bears fans everywhere yeah it was inappropriate of me totally and I'm so thankful that he's coming back in three to four weeks yeah no it's fine I thought the same thing I was gonna bring that up here Brad to see if you would like to offer a statement for your actions I and I realized I'm 44 I'm old I know that I'm being a giant you know you know what we lose our minds in the middle of games and things like that to where we become like the end of those I guess we never cheered I've never cheered for a player and as a reporter for 20 plus years there's just nothing that happens on football fields that gets me that emotionally tied but after watching what Caleb did to Green Bay last year I'm not gonna lie like I I was like
I took look to my wife and I was like this is the worst fan I've ever been right now I'm a terrible person right now I know that you can cross though there's the you can there's a very fine line between great fan and terrible human and people cross that line all the time yeah and I was like oh my god I think I just stepped over honey and she was like yeah not a good look I'll let you I'll let you a formal apology my children later come on back to this side uh brain go last couple quick ones for you uh Iowa Ohio State um any with that crazy win against Michigan in that last uh second play um any chance now this weekend we'll go a long way there there are two touchdown dogs any chance with the schedule remaining for Iowa after this week could they be the 2026 Indiana uh no they're not they're not gonna or 2025 Indiana maybe 2025 yeah maybe 2025 Indiana um well no it'd be 2024 Indiana where they were eleven oh deaf yes yes yes 2024 Indiana that's what I'm I'm in the flat circle yes uh look I think they're I was a very well coached team by a coach who's
been around a long time and by the way they're doing more offensive football now in Iowa City apparently um I don't know if that's good enough to beat this Ohio state team who I do think is going to get better and better and better as the season goes along and uh you know they're still gonna be super super dangerous I still have Notre Dame in Georgia in my champ I pick them one and two I'm gonna stick with Notre Dame in Georgia I haven't seen anything different to tell me otherwise the Indiana is a little bit better I think Ohio State's gonna get better I think Texas is right there I still think it's the same the only one I've probably changed on is Oregon so I'm not ready to add teams like Mississippi State or Florida or Iowa I'm not ready to add those teams yet my kugers my kugers they got rods I know but like other than that you know I'm not ready to say maybe maybe the sneaky playoff team that we should have talked about is North Dakota State and maybe that one yeah we should have talked about like no one's coming out of the ACC so if you're asking sort of who are those types of teams absolutely Iowa could be in that conversation I think I'm
out on USC now um I but I you're trying to look around and find those those teams I think there's like seven in the SEC that are gonna battle for like four or five spots I mean it's Ohio State this week and then after that it's Washington Minnesota Wisconsin Northwestern Purdue Illinois and then Nebraska at home for Iowa so but it's funny though like there's teams in there there's games in there that I thought were gonna be hard Washington Illinois let's say yep and it's like actually out with constant and Northwestern and these other teams are gonna be more difficult to thought so it's like every like every great schedule in college football some teams are worse than you thought some teams are better but it all kind of evens out is Nebraska I think got a chance to be sneaky good so there's just all kinds of all kinds of stuff that's moving in shaken still and we just don't have a clear picture yet we need you know two or three conference games for everybody you get to about week six or seven and then we start to really get really start to narrow in on who's got what it takes to survive you know there's some schedules in the SEC for example they're
gonna be just ruthless coming up Missouri one of them oh yeah Florida's another like there's you know there's really tough games coming up and we're gonna learn a lot about all these teams yep and as bad as the USC call was on the Dante Moore hit was as good as the radio broadcast for Iowa on the touchdown with Western Michigan we've got your back that's a great call great call on the student radio station with the Western Michigan Iowa has your back on the last way of the game brilliant braiden golf 440 podcast network and YouTube and ESPN radio braiden you're the man appreciated as always brother enjoy the football a couple of big ones this weekend and we'll talk next week man yeah absolutely there's a braiden golf great stuff from him and we'll see the the statement he's gonna put out with his actions when Caleb Williams got injured not as bad as Desmond Stevens actions with Dante Moore but he's gonna put out that statement as well so you know that situation where he wrote that apology no no it was still a very good
apology yeah he didn't read maybe he did who knows I we always say to PR they they never know man they might have written it for him and he might have said that that's exactly how I feel yeah that is that is encapsulating of everything that I would want to put there in writing and you guys did thank you and I want everybody to know that this is how I feel and for clarification too because I mentioned that Desmond Stevens was suspended he was suspended by USC USC but not not the not the big 10 big 10 didn't suspend Desmond Stevens USC specifically Lane kiff or Lane kiffen Lincoln Riley like Lane kiffen suspended a mic goodness that would be a story a lot of power you know what now I give what the sc's trying to stop him he's too powerful that would be a story but Lincoln Riley actually suspended Desmond Stevens and that's where it comes into where he was suspended for the actions after the hit not necessarily for the hit the hit was bad but how he then acted and celebrated those things that's where Lincoln Riley stepped in and said you're sitting next week
against Washington we'll take a time out we'll come back we mentioned the broadcast of USC and Pete Arbigas the long time play by play announcer for the Trojans and how bad that radio call was on the Dante Mora hit we'll play that on the other side of the break more so next want to see more of the zone watch the show live on the sports radio 810 whb facebook twitter youtube and twitch Arbigas continue right here on sport training 810 whb thank you to break and go I really think that headline would have been great that Texas P's down their leg if Tennessee would have come back and scored a touchdown there after the onsite kick oh it would have been incredible because of the Collins Simmons celebration which text Texas not dogs more like cats as they pee down their legs so that would have been fun but Tennessee did end up losing that game there's a massive game this week the onsite kick was awesome by the way that is not being talked about enough that was
yeah was that was that the illegal drop kick one yes that wasn't legal but still it was bad ass by say make it legal they should if it goes against Texas make it legal it's like anything that hurts buffalo they change the rule for the bills anything that hurts Texas should be made legal that's just my personal opinion huge game coming up this weekend with Iowa and Ohio state um and and we'll talk a little bit about that in a second but we've mentioned Desmond Stevens and the statement that he put out i'm wondering if Rob Arbigast and the USC radio network will put out a statement as well it's about 30 seconds long this is a play-by-play announcer Pete Arbigast and the color commentator is Sean Cody is the analyst who has eyes in a brain here is the call from Pete Arbigast USC play-by-play on the Desmond Stevens hit to
Dante Moore that was a pretty vicious over the weekend he did not try to slide feet first and Stevens went in helmet first but he kind of ran into Dante Moore who ducked into that hit for him so I did not see him put his feet out first I saw him dive forward but not he's lying feet first he was now because they spun him around now I want to see the replay here he goes down into it yeah not a feet first slide more of a knee slide it didn't look like car getting on the replay to us they're so bad dude double down triple down your your co-hosts are saying no man he didn't spot him around the video is great so if you haven't seen the video go check out the video have you seen the video sterling no the video was great because the video so they got video in the booth and Sean Cody who's the analyst is closer to the TV or a closer to the video and Pete Arbigast is to his left and then Pete Arbigast was like and that's looks like it's almost like a knee slide
to doubling down and he looks in the video and does this it was great just and now it's become now it's going to immediately become a meme yeah because it's just like this guy is nuts and the spotter because the video also shows the spotter losing his mind hitting his shoulder like he was losing his mind too about it's not targeting him like guys and the great thing is like uh uh uh Pete Arbigast had his binoculars on and he's watching some is like does he have those backwards like is he is he viewing it through the right lens there look like he dove forward he dove head first and the reason he's feet first is because they spun him around after he was deemed unconscious on the field they decided to spin him around so his feet would face the in zone for some reason what is it is a sundial is it facing a certain way it helps
your brain recover like if it's facing the north if move his head to the north spin him around get his head facing the north and therefore it's a quicker recovery if his head faces the south he might be out all year I just love everyone else in the booth being like whoa no one of them the spotter was in was right along with the play by play announcer the spotter was pissed and that was but Sean Cody who has a slide slide I'm not arguing the late slide but even Dan landing said it was late but trying to argue that he went head first so bad and then and then doubling down so not only did you say he went head first and they spun him around I want to see the replay then you see the replay it was like well still not feet first almost like a knee first slide dude and the the bad part about that is if you're listening and you're not watching you don't know what actually happened you're sitting there mad because that's all you hear is that guy he's the one supposed to be bringing you
the game that you can't see he is describing the action and you're expecting that person to describe the action as it's happening and not skew it in a way now sometimes there are you know the home radio that is I mean I don't know if that was a flag or not I'm not sure that was a whole boy that's questionable I'm assuming the Rams play by play on the pass interference against the Broncos might have been like that was not pass interference that should be an interception like everybody else agreed with probably the Broncos play by play was saying clear pass interference clearly played through the receiver to go and intercept the ball you can have some differing opinions on subjective calls but to say he dove head first and just completely switch it and then it was well that was sort of a knee slide as if it was Dante Moore's fault now had he said man that
was such a late slide I don't know what Desmond Stevens you want him to do he's diving and as he's already starting to dive Dante Moore starts to slide you're asking a lot of defensive Sean why don't you weigh in on the as a color analyst here how difficult is it becoming for defensive players as Dante Moore is hurt they're they're attending to Dante Moore and and we hope it's not too serious so as we wait for them to tend to Dante Moore Sean the difficulty of what's you know what defenders are facing now with having to make that split second decision if a quarterback were to slide late and you were a defender Sean you played in the NFL for a number of years back when you played this wasn't the thing now it is how difficult would it be for you boom well Dante went head first and he well this is all on the quarterback because quarterbacks fall you can't you can't dive head first and then expect and not get helmet to helmet and then
you saw he got spun around towards the north as everyone knows that helps concussion yes that's exactly right it's whatever is going on with the protein in the brain it pulls it a certain way with the the the polar sort of ocean actually is where it goes because of the moon and the waves tied and the tide yep that's exactly right but that's like hey Sean what's the what it looked like a late slide because by the way again yesterday Dan landing said it was late yeah now he didn't say it was late it's Dante Moore's fault he still said it was a dirty hit but said could he slide earlier yes is it becoming difficult for defenders yes but in that situation and he didn't say this I'm putting parentheses in that situation had enough time not to full force right into the head and I mean obviously the hit was bad it was the head hitting the turf al-Shayir for Jacksonville
oh man not not for Jacksonville but for Houston against Jacksonville and Trevor Lawrence and he might be like you you hear the story of him as like a person like his reputation on the field versus being like maybe one of the best people off the field like you hear all the different stories that he does around Houston and his free time and days off and everything that he's doing and all of the things he's given back to and money he's donated and causes that he's but then on the field it's like boy this is this guy's a dirty player because of a couple of hits there are some dudes that just turn it off and on I mean trace mits like that right trace mits is a a muller the candy and just seem like the huge sweetheart like a teddy bear yeah and on the field he's trying to take your head off yeah that's a good one that trace mith is one of those guys that it feels like you know like maholms doesn't have to be violent in his job so he doesn't really have to turn off the competitive drive yeah you don't have to turn off the competitive drive but you have to
turn off the violence that comes along with the competitive drive when you're playing in the NFL maholms doesn't have that violence so he can compete with his daughter to see who will walk first you know so that's a little bit different trace mith can't compete with his children to see who gets a pancake block you could I guess he could but it wouldn't be fair you know what I mean I don't think that would be in the best interest of the child I don't know maybe maybe not I'm not sure but yeah that's is it's as Homer of a call as I think we've heard like the home radio broadcast get excited can though student radio call for Iowa beating Michigan was really good and to say western Michigan Iowa has your back to have that call to have that ready to go on a last second play last play of the game to beat Michigan on a touchdown to say western Michigan Iowa's got your back it's phenomenal but we can stop with Michigan now right we can just yes we can just yeah for sure yep yep we can we can do that but for a little bit you know if that pass isn't
completed no no no no they're two and two destiny they're a five they are a 500 ball club lie I'm just saying Michigan could have been mr bright side had they won that game could have been destiny they're they're they're two and one they're not two and two they're two and two they lost to western Michigan and Iowa I see what you say my bad my bad my bad my bet you're right they're two they would be one and two oh yeah they're one and two right is that you're saying they only played three games that seems to be okay yeah they're two and two they're five lost to western Michigan they beat Oklahoma and beat you to yeah yeah and then they lost to Iowa so they beat two and two yep the the NCAA record shows their three and one no but in our official scorebook they're two and two stews official scorebook they're two and two and now they
had to Minnesota which just knocked off Washington this last weekend so there you go go for us try beat them on the road in fact went to Washington and one and you know Mitchening with with the Braden Gaul this match up this weekend with Iowa and Ohio State I just want to take a victory lap by the way just real quick just real quick indulge me here for a second the victory lap here we were on Sunday sound off and we were asked to give two teams that we thought in the top 25 preseason we thought maybe underrated or overrated and let me tell you which team do you think I said that was ranked 23 or 24 that was underrated Iowa nope I said they were overrated nailed it nailed it I just want to take the victory lap because I totally got that right as you like to say negative reinforcement but I will say not that well I was totally wrong I was absolutely wrong but what I'm going to say here is not to say well I'm only saying this because
I was right and no I think the coaching job that Kirk Forens has done because my my reasoning behind why I had Iowa as overrated even as a team that was like 23 or 24 preseason was that Iowa did go the transfer route and replenished their roster but they went a lot with group of five lower level players that I thought this would be a step back sort of building year and then next year would be Iowa as a sort of together team as a connected sort of Indiana James Madison players get there yeah then Kurt Signetti starts to build then they make the playoff then they win a national title not saying that that was going to be Iowa but I thought instead of going out and spending tens and 20 millions of dollars on some of the power five power four transfers it was let's get
these good players at different levels bring them up here coach them up get them together and then build that way so it's not a yearly turnover of the roster John Summer all two two next year in Florida it's working out well there right so I thought this would be sort of a take your lump cheer for Iowa while these players come together and then next year they'll have a full year together where other teams are changing out the roster constantly that was my thought process behind it missed on that one as Iowa is is undefeated at this point and playing Ohio State and look I don't know that they're going to be Ohio State they're 14 and a half point dogs I'd say they're probably not going to be Ohio State but after this weekend again Washington just lost at home to Minnesota they go to Washington which could be a let down game if you know you get beat down by Ohio State
or maybe you beat Ohio State or it's a close heartbreaking loss it's a number of different scenarios here to where okay do you get back up and ready to play to go on the road against Washington then they got to buy then they play Minnesota Wisconsin they got the win against Penn State they're late Northwestern that looks a little bit better and then Purdue and Illinois that don't look all like it and then Nebraska at the end of the season at home that win that play against Michigan changes a lot maybe the trajectory for Iowa because even if you go 500 well I mean even if they lose do Ohio State yeah even if they lose do Ohio State those are all games in which they're well-coached they're playing more offense this year that those are all winnable games that maybe this could be the 2024 version of Indiana out of the big 10 that surprises comes from nowhere now Indiana came from nowhere they weren't a top 25 preseason team Iowa was so there were plenty of pollsters that disagreed with me on what they thought of Iowa this year and they got it right
and and and they were right about that I think it's a credit court for rents because they did turn over the roster and they're playing this well this early together it didn't look all that great against Iowa State because I don't think much of Iowa State and they beat him by three but that's also the Sihock trophy and I got to what my buddy is a big Iowa fan and he was like it doesn't matter man every year just put the final 16 to three and we'll figure out who wins it's our 16 13 sorry so just put the final 16 13 every year we'll figure out who wins but it's just going to be 16 13 that game doesn't matter 16 13 and just flip the logos around as to who wins or who loses just what it's going to be even in a matchup where Iowa State lost all of their good players to Penn State and Iowa was a preseason top 25 team and playing at home and they had to kick a feel goal to win it at the end against Iowa State it's just those you know rivalry games that we see but it's a big game this weekend and game day there in Iowa which is pretty cool I don't know the last
time game day was was in Iowa so we'll take a time out we'll come back and I don't because I would beat Michigan I don't think of Missouri beat Mississippi State that game day would have been in Missouri for Iowa because this would have been four straight game days at an SEC school this weekend it just means more instead of Iowa and Ohio State I yeah they would choose okay we need to break away from the the con the every week after week after week while those are legitimate games to go to Ohio State and Iowa is an absolute legitimate I wonder if it takes a shirt off man I don't know I'm not sure do you think they'll get another kick and he's so crazy well I wonder what Christy shows up do you do you think they'll get another kick or something if he misses the first one I'd be shocked the stupid pickers I don't either give him a couple of trouble try I don't care about that yeah that's the good part I just like the next one that's never kicked a football and then buries it you know that would have been good for like 40 I've never kicked a football before
fires it through the thing the football busts in the air because he kicks it so hard that's what happened with the Tennessee kid they got a million dollars is he shoeless too yeah you shoot last two kids have been shoeless crazy yep absolutely we'll take a time out come back more so next I wrap up things up here we'll talk some some NFL some cheese football on the other side of the break the saga continues with Simmons there is a wide receiver though that just got released that I mean he got a wonder if the chiefs kick the tires lights some fires Odell Beckham Jr has been released by the giants I mean is that the answer I mean did you see the catch he made down the sideline that one time and that was recent too I mean case key to him and Andy Dalton played in a game so that clearly was very recent it's in HD catch that catch was in HD so it's got to be recent
you know what I mean it's not in standard death
