A sad day today as legendary coach Mike Dicke has passed away at the age of 86. Just one of those figures, NFL figures, Mike EA. You and I started God bless football together.
We love football, love football. And Mike Dicke is just one of those guys at least for me. And I know we're different ages now. But at least for me, it's just one of those figures that you grew up. I don't want to say worshiping. He was just such a big colossal figure and one of the NFL's biggest and best had coaches. And he has passed away here at the age of 86. He lived a good life. He's a super bowl champion. He was the coach of maybe the best defense in the history of the NFL. And possibly one of the best teams in NFL history. And so today is a sad day. Even while saying he has lived a good, long, productive life. 86 years of age, but I am told that Taylor wants to celebrate here. Mike Dicke and we should celebrate the life of Mike Dicke today with a Mount Rushmore. And I am very excited about that. What is this Mount Rushmore? So the Mount Rushmore in honor of Mike Dicke. Yes. It's the Mount Rushmore of people who wore a vest.
Oh, wow. That's a good one. I got two that need to be on there. And I'm, wow. Waiting nervous that they're not. Time out. Time out. So when he said that, Mount Rushmore of people who wore a vest. You're in mind to already want to two people. Yes, that's crazy to me. Yes, really. Two people. Listen, you're going to bring up an icon like Mike Dicke, who absolutely should be on this list. And I'm assuming that the whole reason we're doing it is because he's one of the four. You know, you better do it right. That's all I'm saying. Oh, I have one. I don't want to say it. I want to ruin the Mount Rushmore here. No, I, you guys might have your list. I might have my list. Okay. I thought it was going to be a month. Are you getting, are you getting nervous, Taylor, that you forgot somebody? No. I'm very, I'm very confident in my four. Okay. We'll fill in the gaps. If, if indeed he did forget someone. Do you have imaging for this? What are we doing here? Yes, we have music. Wow.
Amazing. Nice. Mike Dicke. Passes away at the age of 86. Mikey, you would say I would say Mike Dicke might be trying to think of the Mount Rushmore. You can make the argument, Mike Dicke. The most iconic figure in NFL history, I think. He would be on the Mount Rushmore of I, I don't know, Woody of iconic NFL figures. It's like Belicechak, Parcells, Dicke, Mattin. Mattin, certainly on there. Lombardi. Lombardi, certainly on there. Just figures, right? Yeah, I mean, if we're going coaches, then yeah, absolutely. To me, as someone born in 1994, I miss the majority of Mike Dicke's coaching career. Like, I think he was still coaching in like what, 1998, 1999, at the very tail end of his career. Yes. I know Coach Dicke for one thing, kicking and screaming. I cleared my calendar tonight. My household, we're watching kicking and screaming.
Really? Yes. You don't know I'm from the Chicago Bears for trading an entire draft class for three time Super Bowl champion, five time pro bowl or two time AP NFL coach of the year. Pro football Hall of Fame class in 1988. He had Ricky Williams dressing a wedding gown. He traded an entire draft class when he was the head coach of the Saints to get Ricky Williams. I think it was on ESPN, the magazine on the cover. I actually do remember that very faintly. Yes. All right, go ahead with your Mount Rushmore of people who wear a vest. So I have one honorable mention. Okay. Han Solo. Because Han Solo is a great character. He just happens to wear a vest. That's very different from being a great vest wearer. Because when you think of Han Solo, you think Millennium Falcon, you think Chewbacca, the Blaster, Princess Leia. Best case scenario, I think the vest might be like the fifth best thing you think of when you think of Han Solo.
He's bigger than the vest, which I think is a compliment to Han Solo. He is bigger than the vest. There's no quit. Put it on the pole is Han Solo bigger than the best. He's more than just a vest. You're right. I he that is not someone who dawned on me, Mikey. It wasn't one of it. It's a good OLI. Was it one of your two though? No. Okay. It wasn't my it wasn't my one. I only have one. My first spot on the Mount Rushmore. So all these spots are pretty interchangeable. Like that's the difference between my Mount Rushmore and Stugots is top five. You said it was an OLI. Mikey was an honorable mention. Sorry. It's semantics. I mean, he takes these things very seriously. My first spot. Aladdin. I do like the idea of a Mount Rushmore just having a guy on the outside looking in. Like off to the mountain over. Like off to the top. On the mountain over facing the Mount Rushmore. I like that. He's outside the Mount Rushmore, but he's looking in. So the reason why I'm giving the reason why I'm giving Aladdin the first spot.
Yes. Innovative. He went with the vest and nothing underneath the vest, which we we rarely see people do. Right. So he gets style points for the creativity there. Yes. The rare wear of a vest without a shirt underneath. Yeah. Correct. You got to be a beggar to pull that off. If I do that, nobody's nobody's happy. Nobody's asking for that. Nobody. Nobody's happy. My second spot on the Mount Rushmore of people who wore vest. Right. The biggest competitor in sports in terms of the sports category for this. Jim Tressel. Wow. That red Ohio state. Yes. Yes. Timeless. That was mine. Yep. That's the guy I wrote down. And if I could if I could circle back to Han Solo for a second think Han Solo again. Yeah. You take the vest off Solo. Right. He's Solo still. You take the vest off Tressel and he almost looks naked. Put it on the pole. If you take the vest off of Han Solo, is he still Han Solo? And if you take the vest off of Jim Tressel, is he just naked?
You agree though. Yes. I would not recognize him without the vest. It's almost like Clark Kent when he puts on the glasses and you're like, whoa, is that Superman? And nobody nobody in the town can tell it's Superman. It's like he just put on glasses. Right. That feels like Jim Tressel where I wouldn't be able to recognize Jim Tressel if he was walking down the street. Okay. Unless he put on the sweater vest and I, oh, there's Jim Tressel. All right. Right Ohio State Coach. Please put both of those on the pole separately. Okay. Here's the thing. You brought up an interesting point. Mikey, I'll get to you in just a second. If Han Solo was walking down the street without the black vest on, there, and it's just him. There's a chance I would not recognize Han Solo. Correct. He puts that black vest on though. It changes everything. I know exactly who it is. Hmm. I do. Interesting. I think the vest is more to Han Solo than you're giving credit to the vest for. Did that make sense? I'll hear that argument. Okay. Thanks. Yeah, Mike.
I'm getting nervous because I've got two names. There's two spots. And he's got two spots left. Yeah. And he hasn't said Mike did good yet. Right. Well, two spots. Yes. Well, he's going to say Mike did. He's going to leave off one of my people. Yes. The math doesn't work for Mikey. Right. Okay. Wow. Yes. Because you had to go with a ladded. So my third spot on the Mount Rushmore of people who wore a vest. This comes from my favorite movie of all time. Marty McFly. The red puffer vest. Absolutely. Got one. The red puffer vest is in the conversation for most recognizable outfit in movie history. Okay. Love that movie. Love Marty McFly. That was one of your movies. That was that was the first name I thought it was Marty McFly. All right. So the sec fly is, but his second name is where he's wearing a, he's wearing a life vest. Yeah. It's perfect. But your second name will be there because it's reserved for Mike Dicke. I'm assuming. Right. It doesn't surprise me that Taylor left this person off. I think Stu got's when I say you would put them on there.
Okay. And then my fourth spot on the Mount Rushmore people who wore a vest. It's coach. It's Mike Dicke. Mike Dicke's vest transcended football. It became a part of Chicago culture. Once you're, once it becomes a Halloween costume, that's how you know you've really made it in the vest world. And Mike Dicke made it. I think you can make the argument this week. Chicago. Ben Johnson. He should be wearing a vest. Yeah. In honor of Mike. Yes. Yeah. But he won't. You never know with Ben Johnson. He's a psycho. He might pull out of that. That guy's blazing his own path. He thinks he's a better coach than Mike Dicke. Yes. Oh, no. Deep down inside. No. I think in Chicago, Mike Dicke is reserved to that like Michael Jordan, like, rarefied air conversation where. Right. No bull coming through Chicago knows they'll ever be able to, you know, surpass what Michael Jordan did. What Michael Jordan did for that city. I think that's a similar effect that Chicago coaches have.
Like, like Mark Trustman never thought he would be bigger than. Sure. Of course. But also like, Mark Trustman never, never really gave us much reason to believe he could be bigger than Dicke. Is, uh, is Mike Dicke on the Mount Rushmore of Chicago sports figures? I'm not even certain he is. Dicke. Oh, yeah. Well, it's not even close. Wait, before you say, oh, yeah. Okay, Mike. He's the second name on that list. Yes. Jordan. Yes. One. Hallis. Nope. Ernie Banks. No. Dicke. Dicke. Dicke. Mr. Cub. Hey, Mr. Cub would like a word. But not Mr. Cub would like a word. Walter. And he's on the Mount Rushmore. Walter. He's on the Mount Rushmore. But he's to the sweetest. He's, he's. Thank you. It's. Walter Payton. Dicke. Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson. Dicke. Go. Go. Phil. Phil, get Phil out of here. Come on. Yeah. Two. Yeah.
You could make the own everybody can take credit for six championships. Sorry. Michael's got that credit. You can make the argument that going to LA was bigger for Phil Jackson's legacy and doing it a second time in a different city. I mean, how about Eddie Belfort? Patrick Kane. How about my dicke? Shalios. How about my dicke? Shalios is on there. So Mikey's thinking Chellia's might be on there, right? Uh, listen, there's gonna be a lot of people fighting for that fourth spot. And right now I've got it because Chicago is a bear's town. I got it leaning Walter Payton. Okay. Sweetness. By the way. Yeah. I have it as Jordan Walter Payton Ernie Banks, Mike Dicke. Yeah, that's the same for I've got. Say it again. Michael Jordan, Mike Dicke, Walter Payton Ernie Banks. I mean, we're leaving off George Hallis. Bobby Hull. Bobby Hull. I just think the black hawks like in that town, like, they're the very clear like fourth Frank Thomas, big hurt.
Thank you. This is it. Ha ha ha ha. Like Brian Urlacker would probably like a word, but when you have Dicke and you have Walter Payton, all of a sudden in a, in a four sport town, it's hard to get three bears represented. Sports figures, Mount Rushmore. Who was the Cubs manager when they won the world's, when they broke the curse? Joe Madden. Joe Madden. Oh, yeah, he's not on the frog. Sorry. Yeah. You're a glass of Joe Madden. I think you're so much smarter than Ernie. Ha ha ha ha. Mikey, who was your, who's the guy he didn't put on here? Rex Ryan. Oh, wow. Rex Ryan. Sweater though. Rare. Sweater vest, you're right. Was Dicke's wasn't a sweater vest? No, it was, but Han Solo, I feel like it was leather. I mean, definitely a different material. It was tactical. It was tactical. Whatever Han Solo's vest was. I feel like by the end of Rex Ryan's career, though, he abandoned the sweater vest. No, he just went to Buffalo where you could only wear it for so long before you
had to just put on a big one. And my misremembering him wearing polos, though? I don't like when I think of Rex Ryan. Really? Yeah. When I think of him in the black sweater vest. For the jets, yes, I remember that very vividly. Yes, yes, the golden age. By the way, Chicago sports, there haven't a moment. Chicago sports fans, I went and just saw my barber who was a big Chicago fan. And he was trying to convince me Tyson Beijing could start for half the NFL. He's wrong. Oh, I had to tell him that, but I had to tell him nicely. I mean, man, man, those cups are here. I'm just saying that's a special. Dangerous game. Wait, so your your barber was trying to convince you. And I love sitting in a barber's chair and their talking sports with the integers talking your rear off. He tried to convince you that Tyson Beijing could start for half the NFL dibs. First off, Stu, I am losing my hair so fast.
The only reason I still go to the barber shop is to have these debates. Okay. The only reason I said I don't need to do anything. The best place is for just to export stock. I know, but don't you shut the guy up after he's, you know, once he's done telling you, hey, Tyson Beijing could start for half the NFL teams. What's your response to that? No, he can't. He's been Johnson going with the ropes. He just erupts in a whole lot of people screaming at each other about how, how could you say start over this guy? That guy's throwing everybody's check its stats on their phones. It's the whole thing. I got it. If you had to rank the spots most likely to find first take on somewhere, barbershops have to be number one, right? Airports. Yep. Yeah. Airport bars, especially. The airport chiles definitely has first take. It was a delight walking through airports when we worked in ESPN and just seeing my face on all the televisions for a show we did seven hours before. Can we put this on the poll? What's more likely to have first take on at any given moment?
The barber shop or the airport chiles? Yes, put that on the poll. I don't know which I don't know that there's an answer. I'll come back to 59 percent. Yes, also put this on the poll. Not the way to honor Mike Dicke today, but does Ben Johnson think he's a better coach than Mike Dicke? Oh, wait till next week. Let's not put that on this week. Let it breathe in. I'm sorry. Too soon. Okay. All right. Well, that concludes our discussion about Mike Dicke and Vest. Let's get to NFL tears. Taylor has tears, Mikey has NFL tears for the games this weekend. And I think he wants us a little wrinkle here for us to guess what tier each game goes in. How about that? A little wrinkle like we did last time. Did he? Mike A is the best at this. I think guessing. He's so good. Yeah, Mike is like in my mind when I read the category of against, Mike could go to it immediately. I know. I'm so bad. I forgot we did this last week. Go ahead. Let's take it away with your tears, Taylor.
The first game. And off the Schneid game. Oh, and off the Schneid to a battle of, uh, uh, uh, winless teams from assuming off the Schneid. No, it is not a battle of winless teams. The battle against two teams that lost last week that are looking at bounce back. That's bounce back game though. That's the bounce back tier. Yeah, this is an off the Schneid. I think it's Titan's Texans. It's still you got it. It's Texans Titans. One of these two teams is going to get off the Schneid. How did this morph into some sort of competition here? I mean, we compete. We compete on it and everything here. We're always competing. Yes. I think the Texans get off the Schneid right? I do. Yes, the Titans are playing. Yeah. Yeah. Mikko Ryan's just taken over play calling. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is such a trend in the NFL. Mikko Ryan's taken over play calling. Sean Payton coming to save the Broncos offense all of a sudden. Right. I mean, do it against Buffalo. I need to take over the play calling.
Do it against camworn. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, tip of the hat. That's smart. Yeah. Do got so strong in it. Headie, plug. My next game, the pretender and contender game. So one of these teams is going to get elevated to contender. One of these games is going to be de-elevated, de-escalated. To pretender. How do you have it so quickly? Because I knew it was going to come into this kind of category when I saw the game. Do you need a second, or should I just tell them my guess? It's great audio. We wait. But we have the NFL Fox music, too. I'm not. Yeah. So he's there for us. Pretender, contender. Mikey, go ahead. It's Raiders Patriot. It's Raiders Patriot. I was going to guess that. I'm being honest, I was going to guess that. OK? So we're going into this. We're going into this game. Very confused about what two directions these two teams are headed.
Feels like we're going to get some clarity after this game. One of these two teams is going to jump into contender status. I'm sorry to get all isy on you, but I have some follow-ups here. What if the Patriots win that game? I don't know. 27, 24. The Raiders are three and two. The Patriots are three and two. You're saying the paths are a contender, and the Raiders are not? Yeah, the paths are going to move up to contender. Just because last year, all we heard about was their schedule was so easy. And every time everybody mentions that, there's never any mention that the Patriots went on the road and beat the bills last year. And somehow did it again this year. Drake May needs as many notches on his belt as he can against quality teams. And I think the Raiders check off the box of being a quality team right now. I mean, they lucked into playing a quality team. No one expected the Raiders to be a quality team five weeks into the season. You'd only play who's on your schedule? You're right. I'm sorry. All right. Good guess, Mikey. My next game. A February comes early game. Oh, that one's on Monday night, isn't it?
Sunday or Monday, it has to be, right? I believe that one's on Monday night. It is. Bill's Rams. It's Bill's Rams. If I tell you guys fast forward, close your eyes right now and picture where at Radio Row. Yes. And the game we're talking about, the game we're previewing is Bill's verse, Rams. Sun me up for that right now. Rams playing in their home stadium. Yes. Uh, sign me up for that as well. Josh Allen in his first Super Bowl. Yep. That would be Josh Allen getting off the Schneid too. It would be yes. The postseason Schneid. Yep. Hmm. Who would you be rooting for in that game? Allen to win his first or Stafford to win his second. Rams. Yeah. I hate to say it. I'm rooting for Josh Allen. So I love him. I do. I love him. I don't know. Every time I watch a video of Josh Allen and you see more of Josh Allen's personality. Yes. It's hard not to fall in love with him. I know Mikey does the whole thing. Oh, Josh Allen, you're too big to flop. Pick a side, Josh Allen.
And it's like, and you see a video of Josh Allen going to like the Children's hospitals and Buffalo and like spending all his off time like being this, this icon in the Buffalo community. It's like, I want to see this guy succeed. Yes. And you see it all because he wants you to see all that stuff. Right. Do it when no one's watching Josh Allen. Well, you're suggesting I did that with JJ Watt for years. I understand where you're coming from, but you're suggesting he doesn't do it when nobody's watching. I haven't seen it. Well, why would you see it? It would defeat the purpose. It's also a thing with with Josh Allen. Like if you just lined up all 32 quarterbacks and you didn't know they were they were NFL quarterbacks and you just said, who do I want to hang out with the most? I would sprint to him. We've seen it in Tahoe. Yes. Like Josh Allen is about as normal a dude as you could get. And then it's like, oh, wait, this guy's like an MVP caliber quarterback. Yes. In the best sport that America has to offer, you'll realize just how cool Josh Allen is when you go to Lake Tahoe and you have an interaction with Aaron Rogers.
And five seconds later, you went to rack with Josh Allen. And then you go back to Rodgers and you're like, man, I'm still thinking about that Josh Allen interaction. I miss the Bill's quarterback. My last game of the week for the tears. An official passing of the torch game. Oh, wow, wow, wow. So I'll give you guys a hint. This is this is positionally like an individual position. I got you. We're passing the torch. Passing of the tour. Wow. So say that again. This is an official passing of the torch game. Right. It's positionally. Think who has been the best at their position, maybe the past decade, and then who's coming for that title now? You have a guess here, Mike? I don't. I'm a little stumped. Hold on. Give me a second. Passing of the torch.
I'll give you guys a hint. Ricardo has already said it. What? Yeah, he got it almost immediately. Mickey Mantle. Wow. Passing of the. And he doesn't have a schedule in front of him, which is even more impressive. So a passing of the torch game. But within it's odd. Mikey, I'm with you. I'm confused. I don't understand who's passing a torch. I mean, you guys want the answer? I mean, give me the position. Yes. Running back. So who's been the best? Derek Henry. I'm telling me Derek Henry is passing it to Vajon Robbins. It's an official passing of the torch. Where Derek Henry has run the NFL for a decade. Every week we watch Derek Henry. It's like, when is this guy going to slow down? Oh, he just has three touchdowns and 150 yards every game. Yes. I said, I think two years ago, I was talking to 10-day Tony. And I was like, after a week one game, that Derek Henry had like 20 yards. I was like, oh, man, Derek Henry is cooked. And then like the next like seven weeks in a row, he rushed for like over 120 yards every
game. And I was like, man, this take is agent like milk left out. But I think, I think after Sunday night football, we put those conversations to bed. It's Bijon Robinson's position until some generational running back in 15 years matches up against Bijon. And then we again pass the torch. There his tears, Mikey. I feel like that torch has already been passed. I feel like everyone recognizes Bijon as the best running. This is official. That was an all-edit. Oh, yeah. I understand the confusion. But when you say it, it's official. Right. Jamir Gibbs would like a word. No, let's just get that. Jamir Gibbs would like a word. And the other thing is, Derek Henry is not passing that torch to anybody just yet. He still believes, and he's still actually playing well enough to say, it's still my torch. You're going to have to come take it from him. And no one will passing it to you. You're going to have to come take it. And who would have the stones to go take a torch from Derek Henry? No one. If there's anybody who's going to have the stones to take that torch, it would be Bijon. I think it's Bijon Robinson. He's going to have to take it from him. Yes.
I think by the fourth or fifth carrier of the game, he's going to score touchdown. A big touchdown like he did on Monday night football against New Orleans. I run around with a torch. He's not even a breakstried when he scores. His celebration is going to be going to that Raven's sideline and taking that torch from Derek Henry. Okay, because you have Derek Henry having a torch on the sideline. That would be so much better if sports actually had that. That would be awesome. It would be great. So Bijon walks around with a torch. Does he run with a torch? The torch for the rest of the game. If you guys remember the last torch game that we would have had, right, was the World Cup final, Messi vs. Luminium all. When Luminium all in Spain beat Argentina, Luminium all got the torch from Messi. Right. Okay. So you have Bijon scoring a touchdown running to the Raven's sideline, grabbing Derek Henry's torch, taking it to his sideline. All right. That makes it official. That makes it official. That makes it official. That makes it official. That makes it official. At Edward Jones, we believe Rich means opening yourself to new possibilities.

Which is funny because at the time I was like, I don't know if I like this guy. With rapper, actor, the V-Dicks. The jump off for me was Hamilton and it was the most popular thing in a very long time. But it was still for me, it was me and my friends making something dumb. In February of 2024, celebrated illustrator and children's book author, Patre Mathers and her husband Michael, nailed letters to dozens of friends and family members to let them know that they had died by suicide. By the time you get the shalliter of both Petra and I will be dead. Next stop, Wonderland. Patre and Michael were by all accounts healthy, happy, and in love. Why did they do it? And what did it do to the people they left behind? I would have given a million reasons to not leave this world had I known. I keep coming back to a truly hope that Patre was a thousand percent on board with the plan. Do you think of him as having killed her? Yes, I do. I hold Michael responsible for my mother's death. I'm Leon Nevock. And I'm Alice Gregory.
Together we set out to interview everyone who got one of Patre and Michael's letters. As one married couple, trying to understand another. Listen to death of an artist on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Before we get to the polls here, at Stugat 790 on X, let's talk some baseball here. How you guys feeling by the way? Now that you had some time to process the Yankees, them losing the entire season. Same way, same way, huh? Worse. You know, for me, I spent the time reflecting and I was like, you know what, maybe I was a little emotional. Maybe I came out a little too hard. Maybe I was, maybe I was just in my feelings. And now that I've thought about it, I was 100% right. You need to fire everybody. Well, I'm glad you took the time to self-reflect and come back with the same result.
That is a good job by you. Yes, too. What a crazy time it is that we're living in right now. Where Yankee season ends and New York sports fans now turn to the next and be like, here comes our saving grace. Yes. The New York Nix basketball. One of the best franchises in the organization and the association, right? Yes. We market that's relied on baseball for so long and specifically Yankee baseball for so long. And now turn its attention to the greatest thing in that city, which is Jalen Brunson in the New York Nix. We've never had that before. Imagine telling somebody in 2005 during the prime of like Derek Jeter and A. Rod, hey, 20 years from now, the Yankees are going to be the laughing stock of the MLB. Yes. And I think that's the thing that you're watching with Eddie Curry and Jared Jeffries. Yeah. That's going to be the pillar franchise in the NBA. Mikey, I have noticed it as a jet fan having the nicks knowing I can go to the nicks and go there very soon. It's a crutch. I'm not as mad at the Jets as I normally am. I have to be honest with you. That's too nice.
What did you guys make of White Sox Guardians last night? They go back to Cleveland now for game five. I wanted Chicago to win that at home. I want the White Sox to win. I wanted to be a White Sox Dodger World Series. The White Sox had two leads in that game. Probably should have won that game and now we're headed back. And the series just keeps starting. Just keep starting. The road team is winning every single game. And now they go back to Cleveland. The White Sox home away from home, I guess, for a big game five year. Home teams, Owen, for in this series. And the biggest difference the past two games that Cleveland's been able to get. Their offense has come to life. They're scoring 18 runs the past two games. Stu, I think the biggest turning point for this Cleveland Guardians team. Jose Ramirez. Like when Jose Ramirez is going, he is one of the most underrated players in baseball this generation. Because if I ask you guys to name the best players from this past decade, you're going to go to Aaron Judd, Shohei Otoni, like the Mike Trouts, the Mookie Betts, Wonsoto. Jose Ramirez is like in that tier of player.
But just because the Guardians don't really have the same level of postseason success, he doesn't get mentioned in those same conversations. Mikey, you agree with that? He's a great player. There's no there's no doubt about it. But playing in Cleveland doesn't help his cause. If he played in New York, we would all recognize him as a top 10 player. Of course. And I also think that part of it is if he doesn't go, they don't win. Right. So it's it's it's solely reliant on him. And you know, they haven't won enough. I know they're in the ALDS, but they haven't like gotten a world series where you'd be like, Oh, yeah, he guys that signature moment. He's a first ballot hall famer, right? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Yes. They always figured you know, in the World Series and the history of usually baseball. And to further that point, I think MLB like the owners want the Dodgers to win because they need to strengthen their argument when it comes to, the labor little labor talks and the lockout saying. The players are crushing them right now. Yeah, the players are like, we can't have these small market teams win because the more the Dodgers win the more it's going to force the public perception to be like, we need a salary cap to stop this. The fact that you look at the American League and it's all the small market teams, I know Chicago is a big market, but Chicago payroll wise operates as a pretty small team. Like they've lost 100 plus games in what like three of the past like five seasons. Like Chicago's been a loser franchise for the past five years. They've been awful. Yes. And it feels like this is going against the players who are saying like, we don't need a salary cap because you need the Dodgers to win. Well, no, well, help me out here because you have teams, small market teams, guardians, raise, brewers, teams that won't go out
and trade for school bull. Doesn't that benefit the players case? It doesn't matter. There's no cap now. So the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, they're spending all this money and only one of those teams has made it to the final four, right? Yeah, I think we're arguing the same thing saying that the Dodgers winning means that we need a salary cap. The other teams winning means we don't. Well, I don't know. So I understand what you're saying, but if three of the four teams are Milwaukee, the raise and the guardians aren't the players winning right there? The players are winning. Yes. The teams are losing. That's what I'm saying. Yes, right. I just want to see Dodgers White Sox just because it'd be fun and funny and it would get good ratings that I would like to see the team who was the worst and major league baseball a year ago. B. It's a crazy turnaround. Beat this juggernaut. That is the Dodgers, which would also help the players by the way. Yeah, it's a crazy turnaround. And on the topic of the bargaining sessions for the MLB, this report came from Jeff Passon.
And this has something that I think you guys would love. OK. So Major League Baseball has proposed cutting the regular season schedule from 162 games to 154 games. Oh, Jesus. That's not what I think you guys would love. Less baseball. But also part of the proposal. Higher seeds and playoffs get to choose their opponents. That I like. In either league. No, no. So still in the American league, you would assume. But it would be like the New York Yankees are the number one seed in the playoffs. And it's like, who do the Yankees want to play? What a surprise. The Minnesota twins. Every year. Not the race. Not the race. Can the Yankees just win not to play the race? So who's the one seed in each league this year? The Tampa Bay Rays. I think the Tampa Bay Rays don't pick the Yankees. Get out of here. Yes. If they had their choice. Come on, Mikey. The Tampa Bay Rays look at the Yankees and say we got this team in our back pocket right now, knowing that the Yankees have to come to Tropical Canada, that house of horrors. They're picking the Yankees every time. I mean, and then, yeah, not the Red Sox.
I mean, who were limping into the playoffs? Well, they didn't make it to the divisional series. Oh, that's right. OK. So once we get to the divisional route, OK, I got it. Not the White Sox. No, I think it's the Yankees. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. What were you going to say, Mike? I said, and then just the mind game of the race, not only being the better team, but going, we want you. Yes. Come on, oh, yeah. You want the Yankees to be like, oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You can. Yeah. But I think there is another element to that word. It's almost a dangerous game. Like, say if you're, let's use the Houston Ashrose in this example. The Houston Ashrose finished as a 500 baseball team. Right. If the Tampa Bay Rays are like Houston Ashrose, we want to play you. That's almost giving the Houston Ashrose like extra bolts in board material, even though they are the lesser team. Like, yes. A team thinks you're so bad that they want to face you. Oh, you want some of this? Yes. Well, I think the Yankees would coward the second they got picked by any team.
Right. I think a team like the Ashrose or any other team in baseball would kind of use that as motivation. What do you mean the Yanks would coward? Like someone would choose the Yanks but what happened? I mean, Aaron Boone would pee down his leg probably and Judge would pull a hammy. Yeah. For an injury or something. Is this a televised event? It should be a televised event. If it's not televised event, like we don't want it. I'd be more interested in watching this than watching baseball. It's fair. Is it? I think it would draw better than the World Series. Put it on the balls. That's a cool rule. I like that. I mean, baseball needs to start thinking differently and they have in years past and it's helped with ratings and it's helped drive their product. Like it's been, so they need to continue to think like that the way me and Billy Gilf think. I couldn't speak. I'm sorry. Yeah, it's almost like MLB just needs like the wacky guys in the league office. Like you have a bunch of suits. Billy. And then yes, you just walked down the hallway and it's like, oh, who's that? And in the ball pit in their office and it's like,
oh, it's Billy Gil. Here it comes to save baseball. Yes, a man who was proposed to Rob Manford on air on ESPN radio that we have ponds in the outfield. That's a good idea. There used to be a hill in Houston, Astros. I do imagine Mikey running in the outfield and all of a sudden the bomb. You evolved to a bond. I mean, diving, diving into the pond. That's awesome. Mikey, I feel like with that Houston Astros field, it's almost like the Mandela effect where some days I'm just sitting and watching Houston Astros and like, did I just imagine that they used to have a hill in their outfield? No, there used to be a hill in center field. Yes, they used to. I don't remember if it was the Astros. You're probably. What the hell was that? There was an Astros. No, it was the Astros. Absolutely a hill. No, they took it away. I think it opposed him play or trick. I mean, it's super dangerous. Yeah. A hill in the outfield is like something that we would have had in like 1940, not like 2000. I love that we're not okay with that, but I fully endorse Billy Gil putting ponds in the outfield. I mean, it's just as crazy an idea. Nobody, nobody, nobody gets hard falling into pond. Yeah. All right, let's get to the polls here to wrap up the week here.
It's been a great week. A fun week. That's to got 790 on X. Give me the music, please. We're starting off hot today. Is Kurt Cousins a Hall Famer? Stuyots made the argument that he was. This was the most voted on poll this week. I'm pretty sure. It's going to be resounding now, right? Yes, 80% of the audience said no. Kurt Cousins, not a Hall Famer. Look at the numbers, people. I mean, the next take from that same game, I believe this was Mikey's opinion. Was that a statement lost for the Raiders? He said he was as impressed with the Raiders in that loss. He had a good one. He had a good one. So he won. They had this year. I don't disagree with the bottom, what? What were the results? 80.7% of the audience said, yes, statement lost. Staping lost. All right, big win for you. This is one that came back to that. Staping win. This one came back to bite us. Is it un-American to bet against the New Orleans Saints tonight in the Monday Night Football game against Falcons? I think the Saints lost by what?
55? Yes. He got absolutely run up to few. Yes, and if you did it, you're not American. But you're broke. I took the Falcons. 57.5% of the audience said yes. Another big one for Mikey. Do you ever need a game in the NFC South? I mean, the bucks are back. They're right in it. They're right in it. They are. One and four. You're never out of it in the NFC South. You might be if Atlanta gets hot. I mean, if they get hot. Or the Panthers. Or the Panthers? Yes. All of a sudden. Or the Saints. Or the Box. Good. The NFC South growing up right in front of our eyes. 74.2% of the audience said, no, you never need a game in the NFC South. And Todd Bulls proves that every year. 35 and 37, I think. Yeah. He stinks. If Wake Forest was in the SEC, would Miami be the number one team in the country right now?
Oh, my God. Paul Finebaum would be parading around how good Geolope is looks for the demon Deacons. No doubt. Deacons. Deacons. That team's tough. They're scrappy. Mikey told me after I put a bet on it. He told me to stop betting against the Deacons. I did. I took the Deac's last week. We won. Thank you, Mikey. I wish you would have told me two weeks ago before I put them in my studio God's picks and they lost big game for the Deac's this week at NC State. To new and kick off. Yes, at NC State. You hate that coach. NC State's coach Dave Dorn. Yes. Yes. Spoiler alert. Taking the Deac's. Wow. Listen to Mikey. This is this is a big one for Tray Wingo. Did we call the Detroit Lions the each right lines because they have no D he was so proud of himself. And I loved it. My favorite moment from Tray Wingo is when he was looking for that stat for like three
minutes. And I had it on my computer the entire time. Because you just wanted to hear a bubble around. No, I was saying in the background like you hear me in the background going like Tray I have the stat and he goes it's right here. Hold on a second. I have the stat. Tray. Yes. I'm watching a man drown like it's a pond in center field. I don't think Tray Mons. No, he's a pro. He really is. He's a pro's pro. He doesn't have to talk throughout. 90.9% of the audience said yes. Let's rename them to each right lines. All right. Good. Wow. Overwhelming. Cooper Rush can never play another snap again in the NFL. Yes. 100%. Surprisingly not hired. Really? 79.4% of the audience said yes. That he should never play another. 21% of the audience is okay. If he takes a snap for their team. Yeah, I like you cannot be okay. If you're if right now you got a notification the jet signed Cooper rush or the jet trade for Cooper rush. Right. Your guys hearts would drop. I mean, unless you were trying to go the opposite. Maybe that's the argument for why you would start Cooper rush. Right to lose to lose.
Yes. This is a big one for me. All right. Doesn't eight to 10 a.m. repair window really just mean 958 a.m. 100%. That's what it means. Yes. Yes. Freaking Salvador from 18th. I love Salvador and 18th. Man, we love 18th. He threw a wrench into my week. We love Salvador. 90.4% of the audience said yes. That's what the 8 to 10 a.m. repair window means. He threw a wrench into your week. Go ahead. If a baseball could hit off a catwalk, what the hell are we even doing? Man, one of these has to come back 100%. We're getting closer. Yes. 90.7% of the audience said yes. Are Yankee fans rooting for a lockout? I am. You voted yes. Yeah. I voted yes. My key. You voted yes. On three different accounts.
Really? Wow. Yeah. All my burner accounts. I voted yes. You're really committed to this lockout. Yeah. Addam was upset that I said I was rooting for the lockout. He texted me. He said, hey, love your passion. Yes. But I need to keep collecting checks. So I'm going to root against the lockout. I said, that's a fair point, Addam. He texted me that he loved Old Schmidt. Set up all Gold Schmidt. Anyway, go ahead. Has Yankee Stadium become the place for other teams to celebrate? It sure has. Still, you mentioned 100%. This is the closest, actually. We've gotten 96.1% of the audience said that's where you go if you want to throw a party. If you're another team right now, the rays would choose them and give them and give them home field. Two more poll questions. Is Jalen Daniels winning the chip on Baker Mayfield shoulder that he's been missing since signing his contract extension? I think I almost had a stroke when I was reading that if you guys noticed.
I almost had one about 12 minutes ago if you guys remember. All of a sudden, my vision got very, very fuzzy there for a second that I got a little worried. It happens. 89.7% of the audience said, yes, Baker Mayfield. The chip is back on his shoulder. It's Jalen Daniels on his shoulder. Yeah, small. It's confusing. Jalen Daniels, Jalen Daniels, we need to do something there. I don't know what. It's Jalen and Jalen. Baker comes back and then you never hear from him again. Yes, well, that's not true. Jets next year, three years, 120 million. Yes. Paul the week. Cowboys defensive coordinator. Pack your bags. Yes. And Shoddy perhaps. I mean, Shoddy's got one foot out the door. 94.9% of the audience said defensive coordinator bags are packed. Let's do those with the polls. Put this on the poll for next week to Shoddy have one foot out the door. At Edward Jones, we believe Rich is about taking care of what gives your life meaning.
