Time for the 49ers Rush Podcast. And here's your host, John Chapman. What is going on? Faithful, it is absolutely incredible to be with everybody. It's the 49ers of three and oh, we just keep rolling through the season. Are you in mid-season form yet? And where you at on the whole just man, the day to day, you've been doing this a minute. 49ers cutbacks incredible. Everybody's got to go subscribe if you haven't yet. But Ant, like, dude, are we in season mode? Like, do you feel it?

Yeah, I feel like we're in mid-season mode at this point. I think everything's rolling along. 49ers are playing extremely well. Fans are on point too. I mean, the fans are coming with great questions, great energy. It's a good time to be a 49er fan. So, yeah, I think we're in mid-season form. I'm enjoying it. It's there. I know once the travel, I know I did that. Australia trip. We've got the Australia, Seattle trip coming up here in two weeks. That's when it's like real. Once we start, you know, hanging out and doing all the giveaways and fan interactions and all that stuff. But the 49ers have taken care of business. And on today's coach approach, we're going to look back a little bit. Things we liked that we saw against the Cardinals in week three. Looking forward, what are the coach approaches that were wanting to see off its defensively against the Broncos? This is a premium matchup. And with the Broncos beating the Rams just this last week. Is it safe to say that the Broncos are the best team the 49ers will have played so far this year?

Or is that sliding the Rams a little too much? I think it is sliding the Rams a little bit. I think that when you look at that game and that matchup, the Rams really let that one get away. I think that they were a better football team for most of that game. And I think that Denver made some plays down the stretch. You got to give them credit for what they did. But I think that you look at Denver and they're actually not playing as good as they did last year. Denver was a lot better last year. Maybe they're rounding into four. Maybe some of that Davis web figuring out the offense, but it's not just the offense, the defense as well. So I think that this team from Denver's one of the better teams in the league. I really do believe that. So this is a test for the 49ers. But I don't know like it's that much bigger tests than the Rams. I think the visual rival knowing, you know, McVeigh and all the things that are going on there. I still think that this is a really big one. And we'd always circle this one in Seattle as two big games that were coming up in the first five weeks. But I'm not sure that they're a better team than the Rams.

I think they just played better down the stretch and won that game. Yeah, I like that. And again, I think the Rams will go further. I keep wanting to buy into this. I know they're one and two and I know they're finally dealing with injuries. McVeigh cannot overcome injuries. He's only had to do with it once in his career. And he didn't make the playoffs had a couple of injuries to start the year. Now he's one and two. He's not the shenanin in masking all those injuries. And so we'll see how that kind of goes. And it will see how that plays out. Kim bro coming in with the super chat. My man, he says the two best does Brandon cooks, make an impact. Shout out to Kim bro, not for being awesome all the time, which he is. But for spelling Brandon cooks correctly. Something that I never do. I'm always like, I look him up on like, you know, pro football reference. I'm like, dude, where is he? There's no brand. It's brand in. I am. So right here, let's jump into it. You only get two elevations a week. Now, Cedarrill Hodg is dealing with an issue.

And so Mike Evans, dealing with an issue. You had John Lynch on K and B.R. this morning. Say quote, Mike talking about Mike Evans quote. He is old school in his mindset and doesn't want to miss. Mike will make every attempt and we'll see where that goes. And quote. Let's talk about the wide receiver room and getting the numbers. Do you think Brandon cooks is elevated or on the 53 to play this week? Yeah, I think he's going to play this week. I think that they always intended to have him up as soon as possible. And the defensive line problems definitely impacted his availability for last week. I think that they want him in this week. I think they need him in this week. And so I expect Brandon cooks to be helping this football team. And I do think there's question marks about Mike Evans. And whether he's going to actually go on Sunday or not. I know he's an old school guy. I know he's going to want to play and there's going to be all the talk about, you know, pain tolerance and all that. But the 49ers, even when they look at the season, you want to win every single game. You look at every game like a one game season. But the Seattle game is way more important to the 49ers in the Denver Broncos game.

And having Mike Evans for that is more important in my opinion. So I think that they're going to be cautious with Mike Evans and make sure that he is healthy moving. And so I think we'll see Brandon cooks. And even if Mike Evans is playing, I still think we'll see Brandon cooks because he's going to help this football team out a lot. And they desperately need more help at wide receiver. Yeah, cooks can play all three spots. He's done it for over a decade. He understands what's going on out there. And so like, man, is this a week that you get six wide receivers because Hodge is a little bit of a question mark. Jordan Walkins can only play limited snaps because he's such a detriment in the run game. Like there's a lot of asterisks to these players. You got Dibo played 40 plus snaps last week. No catches. Like it's a it's a rough wide receiver room man. It's it's not at its premium in its current situation. We'll see how that goes. Look at this. Kim Brobe and Amanda the people he switches channels. Does the double. Super chat.

Says right here to aunt. Thanks again, Kim bro. Ants. Can you give me your breakdown of what you expect from Matthew. Judeon. Yeah, I would like to say thanks, Kim bro. I mean, Kim bro is really one of the best. There is that's for sure. So thanks for. The super chat. I would say this about Matthew. Judeon. I don't know what to expect from him right now. What I do know is this is a guy that will come in and you know what I'm going to do. He's already played in where he more to scheme yet. Success within the scheme with five and a half sacks in Atlanta. But I think this is a guy that can come in and do the job right away. It's an easy. It transitioned for this 49ers team. And I think when you look at it, they have kind of went to hey, let's get some more defensive. And so let's get some guys that they can move into for either can play inside. that can play inside. And I think that when you need to, when you do that with guys like Keon White and guys like Collie Perim, you need to add more help on the outside. So Matthew Judon makes sense playing that outside linebacker role. I think he'll set a good edge. I think he'll bring them some opportunities rushing the passer. I don't have huge expectations

for him, but I think in the interim, if he can kind of withstand and play pretty well until they get some of these guys back that they really need to get back, I think he could be a good addition to this team. So I'm expecting some help. He's going to have little tricks to the trade to what he can do. And they'll probably generate some pressure. But I'm not, I'm not going to go out there and say, I think this guy's going to do too much, but I did like the signing because I think that there's a need for a veteran presence out on the outside. He's done it within a three four system for a while. And I wouldn't be surprised, you know, Villamy, Faeoco Jr. He got to play some last week and like did okay. I wouldn't be shocked if they release him promote Matthew, Jude on to the 53th and bring back Faeoco Jr. on the practice squad to help with those numbers because you only get to elevate two players. And you're still going to need help at defense, attack, we'll definitely have to elevate one of smash of hell does are Kevin Givens. I think they both played really well last week. But with Romello hype back at practice, now you can kick key on wide inside. If he plays, he's another injured guy like

this is just it's a weekly man, the 49ers only get to promote two guys from the practice squad. That's turning out to be a huge hindrance because just the injuries, the plethora at stack positions, how many defensive ends are injured, how many defense of tackles, how many wide receivers. And so that you have these three positions that just make it so difficult to figure out like man, who you're going after, who you're not, whatever, it's it's frustrating to say the least, but you do expect you don't to play this week. I wouldn't say I expect him to play. I think this one could play out a little bit. I think they might wait a week to get him in him. It's all about evaluation. The same thing with Brandon Cooks, he was about evaluation, seeing where he was physically in individual drills. And then just getting accustomed to the system and how Chris Cacerequans in the play. So I don't know, I wouldn't say this is for sure this week. I think next week seems more likely, but it's interesting because they could have Michele Williams next week as well. So they could be getting a real influx of talent, Romello hype back this week. So I don't know,

I'm not a fool all in on judon being in this week. I think in a perfect world, they could play him. I just don't know where he's at physically and how he's ready to roll when it comes to playing within the system. Man, could you imagine getting back some of the, I mean, theoretically, you could get back Samo, Christian Kirk, Austin Pleasants all next week, like theoretically, probably not going to be that way. But, ah, like that would just be such a breath of fresh air at two major need positions with Samo, Michele Williams, Christian, like that's a lot. And so you talk about that Seattle game being week five instead of week four, kind of did the 49ers a little bit of a solid. Everybody knows they're going to be injured every single time. And we'll see what that looks like. Now a couple of them. They're just real quick updates. Brock Pertie was just named NFC off its a player of the month. What does that mean to the locker room, seeing one of your guys, you know, get such an honor? Because again, there's

one offensive player out of 16 teams that gets this recognition. Brock Pertie was him. What are your thoughts? Get 20% off by using code team USA. Yeah, I think that there's validation for a lot of them because they've been sitting back and and watching Brock Purtie not get his due, but they know that one of their players is playing extremely well and I think that's really important for the 49ers to see is that their guys are getting rewarded and Brock Purtie is not just a team captain, but a guy that's been playing, you know, it's extremely well for this team. So I think it's a motivation for the offense. I think for the defense, they look at and say, hey, the offense is doing a good job. So I think it's always a nice and

morale boost and I think they realize how good this football team and how special it could be. They're continuing to rally behind Brock Purtie and I love it. No matter what, even if he's getting these awards, he still feels like an underdog and like he has a chip on his shoulder just because of the national media stance. Some of them are coming around, but Brock Purtie's got it. He's got to prove it and I think they all know the ultimate validation is not these awards during the season, but the Super Bowl. And if they can get that, then it'll it'll, you know, validate all of their careers. You know, Fred Warner, George Kittle, you know, those guys go from, hey, are they Hall of Famers? You absolute Hall of Famers just with one Super Bowl win. And so I think that they're all motivated on that. I think Brock Purtie's in the same category. Dude, all pros, Super Bowls, and being the best at your position for which the All Pro's kind of go along that. Like, that's what you have to have. And if there's any issues, you don't get in. You saw what Torello is. I mean, he's one of the most decorated wide receivers in the history of the sport, but because he was so problematic, that was enough for him not to get in salt with Frank Gore. Like, dude, had the longevity,

didn't have a Super Bowl, didn't have an All Pro, didn't get in first on Patrick Willis, had all the All Pro's. No Super Bowl got away. You've got to be able to check all the boxes in the Hall of Fame moniker to get in first ballot. And if there's any deviation of rings, All Pro's, longevity, it just doesn't happen. So I love that you brought that up. And you know, you can talk about Trent Williams, talk about Mike Evans, you talk about Fred Warner, like Christian McCaffrey. There's a lot of potential Hall of Fame players on this roster. Yeah, got to get that ring. Got to get that ring. Got to get that ring. Kimbrose says, no on Austin Pleasants, we need the IR spots. I agree completely, but you had to pre-designate to IR to return spots. That was Christian Kirk and Austin Pleasants. So that spot has already been used. I thought it was a very bad choice. Milk was a bad choice. And yeah, at some point you're going to need offensive line help

probably. I don't know where Pleasants fits in because I'm not playing them ahead of Videri and Low. I'm not playing them ahead of Carver Willis. So you're a full injury away before you could even use Austin Pleasants. It was a really, really, really bad choice. I am with you there. Oh, look at my man, JP. I love this. He says, I start coaching my soccer team future this week. His suds on the team. JP, appreciate what you do for those kiddos. You are one of one, my friend. Appreciate you, buddy. Yeah, Michele Williams fully expecting back next week, right? Like, there's no question here. He's practicing. He's looked great on the side field for a month. He was so disappointed whenever he got kept on pup because he thought he was going to get a play the first month of the season. I fully expect him to play next week. Yeah, I think so too. I think that they were really looking forward to having Michele Williams back. And I think he got really close. You know, he was posting on social media like I'm back. Like he really thought he was going to make it in time. I think that they did a solid for Michele Williams by making him

wait. And now it's really played out well. I mean, here they are three and no. And he hasn't played. And now he got an extra opportunity to get more healthy and more back together. He looks really good. I mean, this small little amount of practice tape we saw from yesterday. He looks explosive. He's moving around well. He kept a lot of his weight, which is really good. I think that they're excited to have him back in the fold. And I do expect him to play Vasiado. And like you said, Christian Kirk, I think there's a really good chance Christian Kirk is ready to go as well, which might be why they brought back the cat man. If they're going to have to make some roster moves when it comes to wide receiver, you might need a backup punt returner just in case something happens at some point. So it's it was interesting seeing Dante Petis come back. I was so shocked when I got the text message that he had signed because I never saw this day coming. What are we even talking about right now? I don't even know. I don't even know, man. Shout out super troopers. You guys are the best. Now, I'm speaking. Oh, do hold the spit. I love it. Joe, he says, fellas, just turn it in. What shalls take on the trade for chase? I

assume you're talking chase young. I got a lot of these emails in whatever. Look, I like chase young and that dude's ballin out. I the thing they're coming off a huge the Saints. I think are competitive because that division is just horse manure. So like I don't think the Saints are ready to be in cell mode. But if I look at this from a Niners contingency, okay, you're expecting Nick Vosoback who didn't go on IR. Keon White's been incredible. You're expecting Michele Williams back next week. Romello hide is back this week. That's your four. Khalid Karim and Oboq Rokow have not been bad by any stretch. You just brought in Matthew Jude on. Chase Young is better than a lot of those names. There's no doubt about that. Like I would love that. But I think they kind of want to wait and see what they have in this defensive in room. If they ever get healthy, what you have to put like an asterisk to that chase young is awesome. He's been with the Niners before and he was awesome. You went to the Super Bowl the year you had him. You could

definitely use chase young. I'm not sure now is the time to overpay and you would have to overpay. That juice playing well. I mean, it's got to cost a second plus probably to get chase. What would you put the value on trading for chase young and should the Niners be entertaining that right now? I don't think they should be entertaining edge russer in general right now. I think that if you look at this team, you got to wait and see what happens with Michele Williams and with Keon White and how you want to play because if the four years are going to keep going to a more odd front, those two guys are perfect to move inside and play that four eye technique. Then that's when you got Augbo Okrawanco and Nick Bosa and those guys that can play on the outside. So you can kind of flip this thing a little bit where you don't need as many defensive tackles. Then you have Osa Digi Zua and Grayson hole and then those guys that can line up over the center or still play four eye. And you can kind of move these guys around. So the ability to have more defensive ends, especially guys like Michele Williams and Keon White, that played four eye in college and then

Keon White for the New England Patriots. It kind of affords you the opportunity to kind of change things up a little bit. So I think defensive tackle would still be something I would look at more at the trade deadline than defensive end. I love chase young. I thought chase young was fun for the 49ers. I wish that he could have helped the 49ers get over the top and he's playing really well right now. I would not send a second round pick to the New Orleans Saints for chase young. I just wouldn't do it. If you told me it was a mid-round pick, I might consider it. But I want to let this thing play out too. They're playing really really well. They're still getting pressure on the quarterback. Let's wait. Let's see what happens. Michele Williams was really good for this 49ers football team last year rushing from the inside and Keon White has been really good. So I want to see what happens with those guys. And like the thing, I just pulled up chase young's contract. He's under contract for this year next year. I think that's a positive. He does have three void years, which is again, can you get the Saints to swallow a lot of that cap penalty, whatever. If you get them to swallow almost any of it, then it's like, okay, this makes sense financially. And again,

you heard John Lynch say last year, we're not really looking at one year rentals. We're looking for one to two year players. So that does help there. That does help there. Big Red says, should I start Evans on fantasy depends on who you got behind them. I would lean no because even if Evans is out there, there's a good chance Patrick's certain it's going to be following him around, which you don't want that guy as your shadow. So I'm leaning no because of the health. It seems like every single time he does play, he gets a touchdown. But yeah, it depends on who else you got out there. Let's talk about last week. Let's go back to the Cardinals game. Let's talk about the 49ers offensive approach. Things that you saw that were just like man, I really enjoy what they're doing from a schematic coaching X is an O standpoint 49ers offense versus the Cardinals. I love the run game. You know, I really like what Kyle Schaemann was doing. He was using personnel, but he was using big bodies. But he was finding opportunities to create more gaps. You know, and that's one of the things that actually LaFlora was doing as well. Is there a both trying to

create more gaps on one side of the field that the defenders were going to have to fill. And so he would do it. It was real subtle like, oh, we're going to move Luke Farrell to the other side of the formation. Oh, Kyle, you're going to go in motion and he's going to set up. And oh, then we're going to do this. It was it was really nice to see them do that. And they're generating some good angles and opportunities for the offensive line to block, but also making things easier for Luke Farrell and Kyle, you check and George Kittle and those guys who have to go block second level or even at the point of attack. So I like what Kyle Schaemann is doing with the run game. It seems like it's different every single week, a little bit different schematically. That is keeping defenses off balance. And I think he's doing a really good job with that. So I like the mixture. I think that they've done a good job with the run game. And I think it's been evident with the fact Christian McAfry's running for five yards per attempt. It's really good to see him explosive again. So I like what he was doing with that. I'm an old school guy when it comes to running down hill and doing that sort of thing. And I like the big bodies, the extra gaps and finding opportunities to run against these opposing defense. And he did it really well against the Cardinals.

Man, I remember just last year, I think it was the Giants game. I'm sitting up in the Giants and they are heckling like and I love it, dude. Because we've got a big group with us. And they're like, Oh, is Christian McAfry now at, you know, over three yards per carry? Because, man, it was so bad where you look at last year. These are the yards per rush attempt. Christian McAfry had to start the year last year, 3.1, 4.2, 3.1, 2.9, 2.6, 3.2, 3.1, 2.5, 2.7, 3.3. Like, he didn't hit decent numbers until you're talking week 11. This is a different Christian McAfry. It's a different group up front. Connor Colby has helped a lot. The tight ends, having George Kittle blocking has helped a lot. Having the wide receivers out there doing their job, even Debo Samuel, sometimes that is huge. So the run games become effective.

When you have that, Shanahan and everything just kind of opens up. Now, I got questions about why is Christian McAfry lining up five yards behind the wide receivers split out wide? What does that do? Why is Kyle keep doing that? So again, just think about, you know, you have Mike Evans split out wide by the numbers. Christian McAfry motions out there, but his five yards off the ball. One, you still have to, you have to just quick screen type run game that you can do out there. But watch the linebackers. The play sidebacker has to widen because of the gravity of Christian McAfry. I'm still in this phrase from Ante. He is a smart man. He has said it in this show in the past. And I am copyrighting it. So everybody give me credit for that in the future. But the gravity of CFC, it pulls everything out. So then that backside, that's where you get the George Kittle wide open in the middle of the field. That's where those end breakers just get more space.

That's where Brock party can step up in the pocket and escape running. It's all there. And even to the play side where Christian McAfry split out to the offensive right in this example, Mike Evans run in a curl route to the inside right in front of Christian McAfry. Like it has just created another wrinkle. That is the Kyle Shanahan advantage wrinkles based on alignment motions just changing one to two things in the splits, creating space before the balls even snapped. And then using that that leverage that is created there for your players advantage. So it's not a huge deal. But it's just a couple extra yards for George Kittle to work on the inside. Couple extra yards for Mike Evans on the inside. Little bit. And also the offensive line gets the easier blitz read. Your numbers are easier because now you have to account for inside backers in the tackle box. If that inside backer flares out outside of the defensive in a five seven or

nine technique, you're not accounting for that guy in your numbers. You're zero one two three that you count right and left. So now you're even limiting the number of blitzers that are coming. So it simplifies things for the offense as well. And what have I missed? If you want to pick up off my gravity CMC comment, please expand. What do you think about seeing that so much weeks one two and three of CMC being five yards off the ball lined up out wide? Yeah, it's all about movement. You know, that's one thing that the Kyle Shanahan does really well is he moves defenders horizontally. They late motions shifts. He wants to see how these guys move. And if you can get somebody to move off their spot a yard or two wide now, all of a sudden, guess what? Their drop in zone is a little bit different. The read for Brock Perney is a little bit different. Now we can tell all it's a zone. It's man coverage. There's a lot of things that it tips and gives tells a pre snap as well. So Kyle Shanahan is one of the best to do this. He did this a lot for Jimmy Garoppolo over the years was open up things horizontally. They just never had the vertical game because Jimmy wasn't a guy that

could throw it vertically down the field consistently. Brock Perney can. And they've got the weapons too. Mike Evans is a threat. So you talk about the gravity of Christian McAfry and you can see it in the game. There's times two guys are hanging out around McAfry and there's nobody around other guys are getting open. And I think that that's one thing that this offense is going to continue to excel at is they're going to move Christian McAfry all over the place. There's going to be a focus on him. And when you don't focus on him, he's going to kill you because Christian McAfry is a matchup problem for every single linebacker in the NFL. I don't care who they are. You go into every single game. You say, you know what? I want to get Christian McAfry locked up on that guy one on one. So that is in the minds of every defensive coordinator. So they're paying attention to 23. And that's making it easier for everyone else. And that's also part of the reason Kalon Black can't get on the field as much not so much for the running reason, but the fact that there's a gravity situation with Christian McAfry week one carnell Lake gets the interception because Kalon Black's running the route that Christian McAfry would have normally ran and carnell Lake sags back on George Kittle. It's Christian McAfry. He jumps it. It's a completion to George Kittle. That is just the effect that

McAfry has. And nobody uses players better than Kyle Schaeden when it comes to the gravity. And they got so many guys that can do it. I love it. And I love your explanation of what they're doing with McAfry was it was on point. Oh nice. I got a gold star guys. I get to go outside get all freaking day. And like I think that this place into the fact that Kalon Black snap count has not been what it was after week one. It has gone down and back to back weeks. How much of that was the injury, the growing issue he was going through. Don't know, but CMC was back to lead the NFL and touches CMC in week three. We'll see what that looks like in week four. Now before we jump to the Broncos, the Denver Broncos, let's get to something on the opposite side, the 49ers defense, something that you saw, X is an old scheme wise that you liked versus the Cardinals in week three. It had to be the use of Fred Warner. I mean, the way that he Morris was moving Fred Warner around, you know, putting him at the line of scrimmage, you know, kind of giving those those looks.

It was it was super fun to see him coming after the quarterback, which I thought he did a really good job rushing the passer, but it was also him coming and dropping and creating opportunity for Keon White to get a free hit on Jacobi percent. And so it's it's Rahim Morris continuing to keep teams off balance when using his players' strengths. And Fred Warner is one of the biggest longest linebackers that there is at the Mike linebacker position and his ability to get up there and cause problems for opposing offensive lines and quarterbacks. It was evident. And so I love Rahim Morris doing that. Rahim Morris is he's taking chances. He's throwing a lot of things out there seeing what works, you know, checking out, seeing what doesn't work, trying to see how much you can get out of each player. But I thought the use of Fred Warner in this game was very important. I also think that part of the reason he can use Fred the way he does is they trust Drake Green Law so much because they trust Drake to be able to handle the running backs out of the flat or even trademark ride on top at times. They were able to say, you know what Fred, you can go do all these things. Managed couldn't have done that last year. D Winters, they would have had some

problems getting beaten coverage. But Drake Green Law and Fred Warner, that's why I say they go together like peanut butter and jelly. It's just it's too good. They work off each other. They play well or he more using them extremely well right now. To be able to have Drake Green Law and just say, Hey, Drake Green Law, you got trademark bride. You've got Jeremiah Love. We're not going to buttress support. You just do your thing. And for him to be so spot on like all freaking game. You had the Cardinals scheming open what they thought was an advantage. 101 Jeremiah Love in the open field against Drake Green Law. No, that's not an advantage for you. I don't care. Every is the top three pick. Drake Green Law is just that damn good in open space. And shoot you hear the Cowboys fans and they're D winners criticism. It didn't take long. And I hate I want D to have success because I like D. But watching the Will linebacker play last year and watching Drake Green Law through three weeks this year. Holy shit man. Sorry for the language. It is not the same that they're just

it's not the same. It's completely different. Dale coming in with the Super Chat way to go. Dale. Black is to get the snaps because he isn't a receiving threat. John Bo Swing passes. He got smoked. CMC doesn't my theory can can to pass whenever he's out there. Yeah, there's no doubt that was the legit criticism. I mean Indiana didn't throw him the ball either got some pass attempts you know at James Madison. That's why I always I really like Jordan James because I feel like he does bring the open field threat. And it's like, dude, Jordan James is healthy. He's active. Like use him like he could play and you can put him out there. I want Kaylyn Black getting more snaps. I want Kaylyn Black getting more carries. I understand there is not another CMC. But you do have Jordan James. You do have to Ebo Samuel. Do you do have guys that could do things out of the backfield. And I don't think that Kaylyn Black is like horrible out of the backfield. But yeah, it's got to be a little bit you've got to change the play call. And I think that is a

big reason why he's not getting those snaps. I agree there. Now I will say this. We've got a new updated flyer. I do want to let everybody know if you are coming next week, we are now shoot about 10 days away from the 49ers up in Seattle. Going to be the most important game of the year. I had that the number one game of the year when the schedule came out. If you want to come party with us and not only us, Ricky Waters is going to be with us the day before. We got a party from 49 day before the Seattle game. And then we've got to all include Supreme. Me on tailgate. One block from the stadium. Get your tickets 49ers rush road trip.com. Go get your tickets. Kids freeze to everything. We've got jewelry, jerseys, autographs, cards, you name it, giveaways, trivia. It's going to be an absolute blast. If you can't go, let somebody know that is going 49ers rush road trip.com. And we've got, you know, everything up on all five of our trips. Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, Mexico City, Los Angeles. We're going to have Navarro Bowman and Dallas. We've been working the phones. We've been working off screen. Do you remember Ricky Waters? I know you remember this

is like my Chris Farley SNL skit. Like you remember that one time that was awesome. That was awesome. Dude, I loved Ricky Waters. He was just the do rag him and bar none. Ah, that backfill was fun, man. Oh, yeah, especially I mean that's it, right? Like them dancing like, you know, Brent Jones, you know, they have some of those, they talked about those 94 teams and he talks about how they needed that energy and they needed that intensity coming from those young players. And Ricky Waters was so dynamic in the open field catching the football. I mean, you just go back to that Super Bowl and he catches that ball right up the seam and takes it to the house, you know, breaking tackles. That is kind of the staple of what you see with like Christian McAfry and those kind of guys now Ricky Waters and Roger Craig and those guys were just ahead of their time. But yeah, he was special because he was also a pretty physical runner as well. He ran hard. He was intense. Yeah, that's a good one. Him and bar none. That was so much fun. Yeah, I was a big fan of Williams Floyd as well. That guy could run physical as well. He was tough. Good, good,

good group. Yeah. The old school pose. I missed that pose. The Omega, man. I wore Jersey number 40. And because of Williams Floyd, and then they put me on the line and they're like, you can't wear this jersey. I was like, what do you mean? I can't wear this jersey. This is my jersey. I wear 40. Nope, you wear 54 now. And that's okay. 54 is not a bad number either. It's going to be the next retired 49ers number. I will stick to that. I will stick to that. All right, let's get to looking forward. Let's talk about things you want to see versus the Broncos offensively. What do you want to see the 49ers offense do against this Broncos defense, which Patrick Sirten, DJ Jones, Toledo, Huffunga. They've got some pretty elite pieces. Nick Benito. This is a damn good defense. The statistics have it panned out, but they played three elite offenses. They played the chiefs, the Jacksonville Tagwires and the Los Angeles Rams. Now the 49ers. This is what happens when you finish first place in your division. They've had a pretty tough schedule, but they won two out of three of those. What do you want to see the 49ers offense do? Run the ball. I think that that's

where it has to start is as fine ways to run the ball and get things going downhill. When you get this team going downhill in the offensive linemen are starting to impose a little bit of will, that's when you're going to have opportunities for Brock Pertey. And I do think that there's opportunities against this Denver Broncos team because they do take chances. They are super aggressive. But we talked about Christian McCaffrey a little bit earlier. We can get him running the ball. Then when it comes to the passing game, Alex Singleton, one on one with Christian McCaffrey. I love the 49ers odds right now. He's not doing very good against running backs. And I think that there's opportunities for the 49ers to find some situations to get McCaffrey the ball. And so I think that if they can establish a run game early and maybe Denver's going to come out and try to negate that, right? We saw that with Miami. Jeff Haftley came up and put extra guys on the line and said, hey, you're not going to run the ball. And then Brock Pertey just picked them apart, throw in the football. So it's kind of a picture poison. But I do think the 49ers need to establish the run game and really get things going on the ground because Denver has them in great stopping the run. 49ers, if they can get things rolling, they can win the time of possession. They can stay on the field

a little bit longer. And then you're just a couple of stops away from getting bohnics off the field. And things to remember, 49ers really good on third down to the best offense in the NFL 63%. Denver Broncos not doing so good, giving up conversions at 48% and then in the red zone, the four years of the best red zone offense in the NFL 90% the nine of 10 in the red zone that's ridiculous. And you know, that is one area that Denver Broncos are good, but they're giving up a lot of yards, a lot of, you know, bending dome break. If they get to the red zone, can the 49ers capitalize with touchdowns? If they do, they are going to be able to handle Denver in this game. If they can't, well, that's going to get a little bit more interesting. Shout out to Ben Singh. Appreciate the super chat. My friend, you are awesome. Didn't have a comment. Just supporting the channel and we appreciate that. Just want to give you a shout out. Yeah, right here, Hector, Denver can't stop the run. It's funny because like I make my notes like for what I want to talk about in these situations and Ant, like I ask, what do you want the offense to do? He says run the ball. Mine is run with everyone for exclamation points. I want Krishmie Kaffrey,

Kaelin Black, Debo, Purdy, shoot even Jordan. James would make me happy. The Denver Broncos allow the 30th out of 32 teams. They are bottom three in yards per rush attempt. Giving up 5.1 yards per carry. They are 30th in total rush yards allowed, meaning not only are teams getting 5.1 yards per carry, teams are doing it nonstop. Run the ball. Now Brock Purdy is in his element where if you do crowd the line of scrimmage and crowd the box, you're going to get a lot of kill, kill, can, can, can, can. He will throw the ball on you all day. He doesn't care if Anton Chapman are out there running routes. Brock Purdy will find the open man. And so you could have the game plan. Let's go out there and run the ball 35 times. The alignment based on the Broncos, the 40 diners are now in a position where they could take what is given. They do not care if they throw the ball 40 times. I don't think that this is going to be that game. But I am curious if the Denver Broncos go out there

and just load the box to check us out, check the 40 diners out of the run so that they do throw the ball a lot. It's not what I want to see. It's not what I want to see. But I do think that that is a possibility. Now we've got this question here. Shout out to NH Niners. You're the man. I assume that's New Hampshire. He says, I'm always late. Love the show. Appreciate you guys. Are you worried about the wide receiver room? Call me crazy. But I think Brock Purdy's play eliminates concern. Can he light up Denver? I think so. He says 36 to 24. What are your thoughts on the wide receiver room and the effect overall on the 49ers offense? I mean, it can. It can affect. Right. At some point, having injuries at wide receiver, can start limiting the effectiveness of the offense. I think we saw it a couple of times last week where Brock Purdy just didn't have anyone open and that hasn't been the case for the most part. But that's what happens when you start getting into your depth. I think that's why it's important to have guys like Brandon Cooks. You know, that can

operate within this offense and he's got enough speed to get a little bit of separation here and there. Can. Can stretch things vertically. But I think when you when that started happening, you just seen Kyle Shanahan make a concerted effort to go to George Kittle and to go to Christian McCaffrey. So I think that yes, they can overcome these wide receiver injuries. And I think partly because of George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey and Debo Samuel. I mean, Debo Samuel though, he only had the one impactful play. It was extremely impactful. And that gets into people's heads. Hey, we got to focus on Debo. Debo has the chance to take it to the house every time. So I think at some point it always does catch up with you. The good news is, is it's like one week, right? Brandon Cooks this week is Mike Evans going to play. If he plays, you're you're talented enough for sure. Then the next week Christian Kirk's back. You still got Brandon Cooks and Mike Evans is more than likely back. So I think this wide receiver room is going to be talented enough. And at some point, if they can stay healthy and get everyone back, this wide receiver room is going to be ridiculously good with the Marcus Robinson and and everybody that's going to be there, they're going to have to make some roster decisions. So

I do think they have enough and partly because yeah, Brock Perne's really good and he's going to throw it to everybody. He doesn't care anymore. Yeah, I like that. Scott, I think I missed your super chat earlier. My apologies. I am I'm terrible sometimes. Not on purpose. Scott, the freaking man says blockbuster edge trades have really belly fluff to talk about Michael Parsons, Miles Garrett. Fans who think big trades are a sure thing will later complied about no draft picks. You cannot make people happy. Like, man, I used to tell my students, but players and my kids all the time, some people just want to be upset. And I know those fans, my dad was that fan got kicked out of shoot. I don't know how many Braves games in my life. Like, dude, we would be winning and he would be kicked out. We'll blow it in the night. He was like quated. What's it called? Major League like, oh, it's too high to. Too high. Yeah. Like that's who he was. Right. So like I get there's just going to be those and sadly, they have the loudest voices a lot of times. And yeah, I understand the F them picks mentality, but you look at my comparisons. You look at

Miles Garrett. You look at AJ Brown, three of the biggest trades of the past two years have not panned out at all. It's not like you just trade for veterans and it works. That's not the case. I don't know. And let's circle back on this because, and what are your thoughts on trading these blockbuster deals? And I just haven't done it in a while. It seems like they do the blockbuster trades kind of closer to free agency and the draft. Then they do at the trade deadline. Some big trades for sure. The Christian McCaffrey deal. Obviously was gigantic. Manual Sanders. I wouldn't call it blockbuster. Even the chase young was like a third round compick. Wouldn't call that a blockbuster. What do you think the Niners philosophy are on these blockbuster and season trades? I mean, I think with with the blockbuster trades, I think it's it's usually been more strategic trades for the 49ers, right? Bringing in guys that, you know, Charles and Minahue, guys, you are going to be beneficial and help later key on white. The other one of those are more strategic. I do think that the Christian McCaffrey was an

attempt for the 49ers to go all in on winning that Super Bowl that season. I think that they saw how good they were playing. They looked at the landscape of the NFL and you know, really Brock Purti getting hurt really, you know, caused that not to happen. But I think that you don't really make a blockbuster move unless you believe it's going to put you over the top. So mid-round pick, like you said, chase young third to fifth round pick somewhere in there. I think trading for a guy that can help your team, I think that's that always works. But I think if you're giving like multiple ones or getting one of these guys, I don't think they're going to make the impact that you feel like you need and how many teams are actually one player away. That's that's one of the things that, you know, maybe the Rams with Bon Miller, that was like a thing they thought they were one player away. But even then they shouldn't have beat Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers in the NFC championship game. The Quisky chart dropped the ball. It should have ended that season. So I'm not a huge fan of the big blockbuster trade. You know, this isn't the NBA. This isn't major league baseball. I think, you know, there's 11 guys on the field and the impact of that is felt more through strategic moves and not so much the big time moves.

Yeah. I think the Niners will continue to look for value. I think value is such a big deal when you're talking about how much you are up against the cap in the future. The Niners on the only team in the NFL that have negative projected cap, stay at the end for the next not one, but two years back to back. Now there's going to be some adjustments. There's going to be some cuts and restructures. It's going to make that work for sure. But I think the idea sustained success. And that's what Kyle Shanahan and John Lance have talked about. Like, yeah, you want to go all in, but you don't want to sacrifice the future. Kyle Shanahan is not leaving anytime soon. Just signed his new deal extension. We don't even know how long that is for. You've got Brock Party for a decade. This is a decade program. And everybody's like, well, yeah, look at the Rams. They went all in and they want it. Yeah, but you had the chart interception. You had the Eagles fumble that wasn't recovered. You had the Phantom pass interference in the Super Bowl on Cooper Cup. That was a horse maneuver call. Like, yeah, everything's got to go your way. And they still barely won. Like, it's

not like the Rams were guaranteed that Super Bowl because they weren't. But sometimes that ball is funky and it's got to bounce your way. You got to get the calls, right? You're like, you got to get refs calls. I'm not all in for sacrificing the future. And I'm not saying anybody is saying they should do that. If the opportunity presents itself and there is a valuable asset out there that you can get at a bargain, I'm all for it. Now, speak it about bargains. There is a free bet right now on my book. All right, shout out to Scott back with another super chat. He says, Brock just named NFC player the month by the NFL. I freaking love it. It's not even Brock, now it is Brock, October. It's October 1st now. Like, dude, and like, I do want to, I want to part, we talked about this earlier on the show, Scott, but like October seems to be the worst month for Kyle Shanahan. If there is a bad month every single year, it's September and December. He's stellar. September December, he starts hot, he finishes hot. October is always that month. This schedule is not easy. Like, you've got some rough matchups for sure. Definitely the back to back weeks with, you know, the Broncos in the Seattle. What are your thoughts on like, 49ers taking a step back this month? Do you expect more of the same despite the schedule? Look forward over the next four weeks of this schedule. What are your thoughts with how the 49ers are going to perform? I think they're going to perform well. And, you know, and we've seen Kyle Shanahan definitely

have some struggles in October. But we've also seen when he's got a team that's rolling and playing, well, they can roll right through it, right? Eight know to start the season in 2019. Am I saying they're going to go eight? No, I'm not. But I do think that there's an opportunity for them to have very minimal losses. You know, I think that they could split the next two and really set themselves up over the next few weeks, especially to come out, you know, and still be sitting in a good spot in the NFC, West and in the NFC because they are right now. To me, they look like the best team top to bottom. I think the special teams need to pick it up a little bit for the 49ers. They've made some mistakes over the last two weeks. But when you look at this team overall, there's a reason they're number one deep for in DVOA. They are playing very efficient, effective football. And as long as you can maintain that, it's definitely something that's going to help this team. But I think part of the reason Kyle struggles is he comes out so hot with things that people haven't seen. He's doing some stuff. Then they get some tape on him and they start adjusting their defenses and their offenses. They start having to travel to some cold, cold weather areas and it gets a little bit

difficult. And then he sees what they're doing to him and that he counteracts. And then after that, he's on point. So yeah, once you get three game films on people, it gets a little bit more difficult for offenses to come up with things that they haven't seen before and kind of adjust. So I think that's always a thing. But Kyle, I never put anything past him and I really do believe he's evolved. He's a way better coach now than he was in 2017 for sure. But even 2019, this offense is evolved in the way that he uses his players is different. It's it's special. Let me ask you this. If you could guarantee the 49ers go one in one over the next two weeks and the winners against Seattle, do you take it? Yes or no? Absolutely. Okay. Here we go. What if they're one on one, but the loss is two Seattle. Would you take it? No. I'm just going to. Yeah. With two now. I can't do it. I would do. Yeah. Well said, man, you got to win that game. It's

the most important game on the schedule. It's the most important game on the schedule at Seattle. 49ers Skywalker company with Super Chat. Thank you, bad. How do you guys feel about the Cowboys trading for Joey Porter? One, I think it's hilarious. He's practicing already that injury just magically healed as soon as he got traded. It's crazy. It's the Joanne Ginny's injury. It's just that my wallet is broken. If the Niners beat the Broncos, should they make a move? I the Joey Porter thing did nothing for me. I don't think that he's a top 10 corner in the league. I think that what the Cowboys gave away kind of illustrates that the Cowboys just have really bad cornerback play right now. And so they needed an improved may he needed to get it out get out of Pittsburgh. But to me, this wasn't a big needle mover. I don't think this is one that that made me nervous. And I don't think the 49ers need to make a move anytime soon. I think that they can let this thing play out. And I think they have to. I think the teams around the league and John, you've

said this. I'm sure many times the teams around league are not looking to move players right now. Even if they're o and three, they still have a belief that they can get into the playoffs. So I think these teams are going to wait the trade deadline. When it comes, that's when we'll see what the landscape looks like. I think the 49ers will be in on possible defensive tackles. I think especially if they could flip a six or seven and get somebody that can help their football team. I think that they'll look at the edge market. But ultimately, I think that they're pretty comfortable with who they got because they feel like once they get these guys off the IR, they're getting an influx of all the talent that they need it anyway. So I think they're just going to be patient. And if you're 4-0, it's not really screaming. I need to make a move. It's screaming, Hey, let's stay with what we're doing. And we'll see what we're at a few weeks. It's working. The answers are in the building. And now the goal is, can you stay healthy? Can you not add to the injury report? And can you get some of these guys back? Because there is a dearth of talent on that IR and not being dressed right now. So there's a lot of things that

look at Stefan. Appreciate it. Sarah Chetty says, I would never take it to a no is what we will do. That's right. Could see nothing. We give up nothing. It's like Gerard Butler, the 300 like days. Then we shall fight in the shadows. Yeah, yeah, I love it. I'll put a war with you, bro. I just, I'm trying to highlight the importance of the Seattle game. If you win that Seattle game and you go up three nothing in the division, and now Seattle has two losses. Now the Rams have two losses. That is, I mean, it's going to be damn near impossible to lose the division with the two game lead with this roster. But we got to play the games. That's why we play the game. That's what it is. Scott given us our history lesson. I love this. He says I'm fired up. Remember the history. People we hate Sean Payton. That is factually correct. Everybody should hate Sean Payton. He's a terrible person. Bounty gate. The preseason game where he blister 100 times the breeze roughing

call. He defended in 13. That cost us home field of energy. Remember whatever he got hit in his neck was like elongated. Absolutely. Love that. I hate Sean Payton. Always have. And there's a reason why there's a long list. Scott reminds us. Yeah. I don't know. Wait. Do you have any Sean Payton hate takes? You're the most positive guy. No way. Do we have a little fire? I'm not a Sean Payton fan. I never have been. I never will be. You know, it's crazy because I really like Drew breeze. I thought he was the one of the most likeable guys. But when it comes to the coach, Sean Payton, I'm not a fan. I disliked rooting for them on Sunday night against the Rams. Like I that just makes me nauseous. I do. I'm just not a huge fan of him. I know he's a good coach. But I don't like his personality. The way he comes across. He's very aggressive with media members as well. He's kind of rude to a lot of the media members. He's less snarky than Kyle. Kyle kind of finds a nice little way to do it. But what Sean Payton. He's actually rude. He

just straight up. I remember last year about the Drey Greenlaw where he was like Drey Greenlaw coming back with a downhill linebacker. And he's like, do you even know what downhill is? You don't know what downhill is. Like come on Sean Payton. Just just be cool, man. Just be cool. That is the most trash talk you will ever get out of Ant. He is rude. That is all. That is ants spitting fire over here. Y'all better watch it right here. Dail says, let's go. No one's scared of the donkeys and then this brought up a sad moment for my childhood. Denver is going to the glue factory. I was sad. I cried. I'm not going to lie reading animal farm when they sent boxer to the glue factory. Still hurts. I loved boxer. I loved animal farms. Still what my favorite novels do. Now, how could they do that? He did everything. He did everything. All right. One of our last before we get out of here, the 49ers defense. Sean Payton. Y'all already said he's rude. That is trash talk one on one. What do you want the 49ers defense to do to the Broncos offense and

Ponyx? Pestim, you know, I think that you look at him and he just needs to be, they don't even have to actually get full pressure on him. They just have to make him feel like he's under pressure. He gets a little bit erratic. He'll float the football. He'll take some chances. He wants to escape the pocket. So I think simulated pressures and making him think more coming and then only sending for I think it's good enough against Bonyx. And right now he is putting the ball into harm's way. Three interceptions so far this season. And he's just not been as accurate either 60% completion percentage. I think the 49ers can be aggressive without actually having to be aggressive. And I think that that's one thing that where he more has done really well. And that's why the blitz rate stays down. I know that everyone's going to say, look at the numbers of Bonyx against the blitz this year and absolutely come after him. But if you can get the same result without actually having to blitz, I think that's what you're trying to do. So I think simulated pressures are going to be big. Fred Warner will be big again. I do think we'll see more blitzes than we saw because I'm going to want to have five man pressure sometimes to keep him in the box and keep him in the

pocket because that's what they had to do in week two as well to Malik. So I think that this is something that they're going to do in this game. But I think that yeah, I think less is more sometimes and I think that's what you can do to Bonyx. Oh, I like it man. Yeah, and making beat with his arm. Like he wants to run. He's an athlete. Their wide receivers is a strength of their team in my opinion. But him being able to basically be like Brock Pertie, that's what that's their weakness is because he's not there. So keep him in the pocket. I want to see A plus integrity. Rush lanes. If he's got to step up, that's one thing. But don't let him flare out to his right. Make him go to the left against his throwing arm. That's what I want to see. Scott, thanks for the super chat again. Seems Fred is playing to cover for the loss of Bosa. Is it sustainable? Sunday was powerhouse effort, but possible to play that many reps every week. He's always played the reps. He is doing more because now he's not only blitzied. He's blitzing two steps then getting in his drops.

He is a hybrid player. And I am thankful that Raheem Morris is trying to see how much he can put on Fred's plate. And maybe you'll get to that point and you've heard Raheem Morris say like sometimes he does a little too much. But let's figure out where that is in September, October. So you know what to do in December, January. But like, dude, Fred has passed every single test with flying covers that's ever been thrown towards him. Let's see. Maybe, I mean, he's already redefined the linebacker position already. Let's keep seeing if he can do more. What are your thoughts on Fred? Yeah, you know, I don't think Raheem Morris plans on putting as much on Fred as he did last week. I think it's going to vary from week to week. And I don't think the 49ers defense wants to be out there 80 plus snaps of games. So that needs to change as well. But I think that Fred's still going to get used, but they're going to use him uniquely every single week. There's going to be somebody else that's highlighted this week. Who's it going to be? And I think that's one of the things that I love about Raheem Morris. He never

attacks you the same way twice. He kind of keeps it varying. So that way, things are tough for opposing offenses to figure out. So Fred was a big part of the last week. He's always going to be a big part of it. But you know, it'll be used in a different manner. It'll be straight green law blitzing or it'll be somebody else. They're going to keep throwing different things at this football team. So is it sustainable for a 17 game season? Probably not. But here and there in spurts. Yeah, Nick Bosa being replaced by guys like Fred Warner and others coming from the secondary. It's definitely something they can do until he gets back. Yeah. Man, I'm pumped about this game, buddy. I hate the Denver. I've always hated John L. Wei. I've never liked him. Like I I just don't like the Broncos. I've never liked him. I just have never liked the Denver Broncos. So like this game is a big deal. And you know, I was at the pick eight game, which was the worst quarterback game in NFL history. I will argue with you know, Russell Wilson against Jimmy G. I think it was like an 11 to 9 game. I just hate this team. Like it matters. And go out there and you

control this and you get you win this. You're up for oh, to start the year. Now, I just just keep answering the call. I do not expect it to happen now. And before we jump out of here, are there any closing remarks, anything in your notes that we didn't get to yet that you want to get to the fourers yours? Yeah, I think this is going to be a big week for the 49er special teams. I think this is brand boy or in this team's got to bounce back. Eddie Pignero's got to make a extra point. And Serran deals got to play more like Serran Neal. But I think that we've seen this special teams go from six best in week one to 12 best in DVOA for week two. And now 21st best. It's a it's a scary trend. So they need to turn this thing around. They're perfectly capable. They got a really good coach and a really good kicker. They've made mistakes. Now they've got to overcome that. So I'm looking for complimentary football to return this week with good special teams play. And if that happens, I think top the bottom there better team than Denver. And I think if they play well on all three phases, they can beat the Denver Broncos on Sunday. And I think that would be a big win heading into Seattle as the 49ers would be absolutely rolling. You talked

about 4-0. How about that? What a season start for the 49ers in two big clutch wins over the Los Angeles Rams in Denver Broncos. That would be very big for this football team. Look at this, man. The freaking stud here broke up and it says, can you guys make this just a permanent like team up? Yeah, we do it every Thursday. And we're going to keep doing that added way. Breezy, you guys would be the Avengers. I struggle with more than two people on a show. I struggle with two people on a show. Me and Larry have that in common where I just want to talk. And I interrupt people all the time. It's a problem. But yeah, Ant is, yeah, I can't speak highly enough of Ant. He's incredible. And if you don't listen to 49ers cut back, what are you guys doing? And don't just throw out clickbait garbage and whatever else. And you're the man. And the meanest thing that Ant can ever say about anybody is, it's kind of rude. Like, come on man. He's kind of rude. Sean Payton sucks. I'll stay it. He should go to the glue factory. Let's see what happens this week. Thanks everybody. Appreciate y'all. We'll be back next Thursday with another coach approach. But until then, stay strong, faithful. We're out. Peace. Kitchen and bathroom professionals know what goes behind the tile matters.
