When life gets unpredictable, preparation matters. In medicine, it's all about staying alert, ready for whatever comes through the door. On the road, it's no different. What kind of shopping? Food shopping? No, no. I wanted to buy a sweatshirt. Yeah. And I pulled it off. I had to bring him into the changing room with me. Oh, wow. It was not fun, man. We were up at the mall and he found the arcade. And I'm like, all right, you know. Yeah. Check it out. The guy found the Mario Kart. In the arcade. Yeah. We've got those four Mario Kart. What mall are we talking about? Yeah, okay. They got a killer Mario Kart. Dude, that is a very stimulating environment. He, I could not. I had to literally drag him out of that place. Kicking and screaming. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because he just wanted to watch the loop of the Mario Kart screen as they try to entice you to play. Right. It's like a drug. Even I was transfixed. But after like 10 times, I was like, all right, man. Like, we gotta go. Right. He was so mad. And even if I got him, I got him on the other side of the mall. And he immediately took off and tried to run back. The boy wants what the boy wants. Oh, the changing room, huh? Yeah, yeah.

So anyway, I got my sweatshirt. The changing room. Got a new sweatshirt. Yeah. How many items of clothes did you go into that room with? Two. Yeah, okay. Same sweatshirt, two sizes. Fair. Yeah. Did you opt with the lower size? I did. Okay, that's good. That's good. Everyone has been wearing sweatshirts that are too big for me. Yeah, yeah. I don't know why. I don't know what's wrong with me. I gotta stop doing that. I'm gonna go into a changing room and a nice mall. It's Simon Celicus from the starter Saturdays and Sundays here on TSN 690. And a regular on the quiz with his weekly Monday appearance back with us today. Good morning, sir. Good morning, boys. You like the changing room experience? You like going in there with a bunch of different clothes, pants, shirts, t-shirts, sweaters? Nope. I'll tell you the last two items I just bought. I think was on Thursday. Yeah. I like the colors. I thought the size was right. I just come home. I'll try them on. If you don't fit, I'll bring them back. Oh, that sounds more like a more of a pain to me. Then actually going into room, but it's also I guess sometimes. And maybe it's a stubbornness in me. Like if I know a brand, I know my size. I just, you know, I just buy it off the rack like that, you know, because I know the brand, you know. And maybe a little bit more of a confident purchase in that sense.

But I feel you, man. Welcome to the trials and tribulations of being a male shopper, I suppose. Connor Simon. I'm Sean. The Montreal Canadians over the weekend. Not great, you guys. Played right back in by Montreal. Suzuki tried to center. It goes right to Good Row. You'll wait. Plays it ahead. Graph over to Celebrini empty net. And that is no problem for Maclin Celebrini. Ducks are on it in front. Shotley score. Cutter Gojie. Alone in front. Off the board battle. Slips it through five hole. And it's a four three. And a Heimlich. Boy, good riddance to a Maclin Celebrini in the San Jose Sharks. Don't need to see them again until next year. But Leo Carlson and Troy Terry and Chris Criter and Jackson Lakome. And Lucas Dostal come to the bell center on a Sunday night. And the end result is tough weekend for the Canadian's corner. They gave up eight goals and two games to San Jose and Anna. I'm taking no points home. Is it too late in the season to change the Habs defensive system? Or is it more simply it kind of is what it is?

And just try to be better tomorrow night against Boston. I mean too late to start tinkering, right? Or overhaul? Maybe I'll go with overhaul. I'd say yes. Yeah. But I also would say that it's not. I don't know if it's the system. That's the problem. Or if it's the lack of execution. I look. That there was a severe lack of execution. And has been a severe lack of execution. Like it's not by design. That they're looking that way. It's it's it's that the players are. Are losing battles. I mean, they're losing 50, 50 battles. They're they're. Overcommitting in situations where they need to be more conservative. And they're getting burnt. It's one thing when your goalie bails you out. It's another one he doesn't. And it's not as if it was Fowler's fault last night. But he wasn't ultimately able to bail them out. Of the many, many mistakes that they made in front of him. And so. You know, I just these guys need to start executing these guys need to play lower risk.

Hockey. And I don't know if it's in their DNA or what. But you know, we'll talk to Arpen about this later on today when he joins us. But. It just it it seems to me that. They may be right. He may be right, Arpen. And what he's saying there this morning that the very thing that makes them so successful offensively. Could be the same thing. That is killing them defensively. And that's a tough chicken of the egg type situation. Speaking of tough. I mean, Simon, they've got some tough opponents coming up. It starts with four of the next five at home. They've got Boston Detroit, the islanders, the hurricanes, and the blue jackets. The Habs next five opponents. And this deep into the season, how do you feel about? When life gets unpredictable, preparation matters. In medicine, it's all about staying alert. Ready for whatever comes through the door. On the road, it's no different. Is it a situation where it is what it is with how the Canadian structure their defensive game plan night in and night out? No, I don't think you need major changes. Sean, you just need to be a little bit more responsible. I think you need to, you know, when you're playing defense, the hockey IQ has got to be a little bit greater. I was listening to the post game show yesterday. And the coach talked about how when they want to break out, you know, as a collective, they got to make sure it's the time to do it. So I think there's definitely cleaning up, tweaking it. But I don't think at this point of the season, you can blow it up and try to see what it is. You can blow it up and try to start a new system. I think that's going to be detrimental. And look, this is a team that I am. This is the team I enjoy watching. And if you're going to have Madison, Dobson and Hudson hover around 23, 24, 25 minutes,

I think you're going to get this sometimes. You're going to get a team that's really good at offense and really good at pushing the pace and scoring a lot of goals. But the detriment of that might be that you're not brilliant in your own end. So that's something you need to work on, but I don't think it's something you need to blow up. Now, welcome to the three-star quiz on this Monday back to the bell center from Sunday night. It's back over for Noah Dobson, stretching to center, picked up, coffield moves and shot in scores. And just like that, blink of an eye. The Canadians erased the two gold deficit and tie the game at two. Good stuff. Goals from New Hook and Coffield comes 60 seconds apart, tied the game up at two. It would actually take a lead. And it looks like they almost look like they left the second period. But Alex Texier puts it into an open net as the clock strikes zero well before he buries it. They thought he had scored, but upon further review, not the case the Canadians lose to Anaheim four to three.

Only one player in the national hockey league has more goals than Cole Coffield. He's got more than Carrizov, Caprizov, more than Boldy, more than McDavid, but not more than Nathan McKinnon. Simon Cole Coffield scored his 39th goal of the season, looking to become the first Habs 40 goal man since Vinny damn foos. You got to go back to the 90s. We all know the last 50 guy in Montreal. If I have to say it, I will. It's Stefan Ryshe. Give me a percentage that you believe Cole Coffield. He's on pace for 48 this season that he's going to hit 50 goals at least once in his career. How much do you believe in that? I'm going to say you want a number. Yeah, give me a percentage that once in his career, he'll hit 50. Oh, once in his career. Yeah. Once in his career, I'll go very high. I'll go 85%. 85%. I just disillate in the season, Sean. I think defense is going to become a premium hero, especially if you rattle off the teams that are going up against.

I think that right now, Habs relying really on that top line. I don't think it's going to take a lot of time for the opposition to figure that out. So I think tough sledding here when it comes to matchups, when it comes to Nick Suzuki, Cole Coffield, and whoever is finishing up that line, they're going to see some serious. They're going to get a really a lot of attention from the opposition. So I think the number to 50 this year is not going to happen, but I had to go 85. It's going to happen at some point. There's only one 50 goal score last year. The year before that, Matthew scored 69, Reinhard 57, Hyman 54, Nathan McKinnon 51. So he had four 50 goal scores. One last year in Leon dry subtle. McKinnon's probably going to get 50 this year. He's on 44. Cole Coffield's on 39. Give me a percentage number that you believe Coffield at least once. It's not easy to score 50. I don't have to tell you guys that percentage that he's going to do it at least once in his career corner. You know, he could do it this year. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

And honestly, with a couple of breaks going the other way over the since the Olympics, Cole Coffield could have 44 goals right now. No doubt. I agree. I agree. If a couple of things, including last night, that post, but there, there's been games where he has had terrific opportunities. And it wasn't able to put him in the back of the net. I feel confident, man. I think he's, I think he's going to do it. So I'm going to give me 85%. I'll go even slightly higher than 90%. 90%. That Cole Coffield will have one of those. If it's not this year that he will just, he'll have one of those years where everything goes his way. And he'll get there. That one Miss game could end up, you know, I know could end up on 49 goals at the end of the year. And just missing that one game last week might be the difference. There's kind of a kind of assignments. We have our pin bass who come up in the eight o'clock hour as we dive in on the Canadians again, massive week on deck. They're going to play Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday coming up for the next couple of weekends.

They don't play another Sunday game until not this weekend, the weekend after that. But it's Boston at Detroit and home to the New York Islanders, the three games and the three opponents. The Canadians will face this week. We all watch Canada versus USA at the world baseball classic. We're talking about sledge hockey. No, no, no. We lose there too. USA owns this Canada now on the ice after losing men's and women's and Paralympic goal to the United States. But the USA full value. They're off to the WBC final. Yeah, so Italy and Venezuela will meet in the second semi and the winner will face the Americans tomorrow. Italy and Venezuela tonight. Have you been into the WBC at all? at all. I'm Connor. I mean, it's quite popular. It seems to be bigger than, I guess, what

I've, than what I'm used to in terms of how much interaction and, you know, kind of video and social posts and everything else seems kind of bigger to me. Aaron judge saying is bigger than the world series. I'm curious about how you've taken in or why you haven't taken in the WBC this year. Um, to me, there's just too much other stuff going on. So my, my answer is no. Yeah. Which I'm sorry to say I'm with you. I had dinner on Saturday night, though, with a buddy of mine who's a big sports fan and a huge baseball fan. And he has been like all in on. Yeah. So I understand that it's been a very popular and, and it's, it's been a very successful event. But I personally haven't, uh, haven't really indulged just become, I mean, what am I going to do, man? I would have loved to watch that yesterday. USA Dominican. What a great game that is on paper. And apparently I didn't actually was a shame that it ended the way that it did. But the Canadians are playing on Sunday night. Like I know. And the Oscars were also on too. So would you, how much was the WBC would you watch as a movie, a bit of a movie guy? Yeah.

I definitely had an interest in the Oscars. I didn't watch a single second of it last night. I couldn't even start watching the hockey game until like eight, you know? So it's just, there's too much. There's too much weekends are crazy with two kids. Simon, how do you feel about that? You kind of in Conner's boat or your, or in his friends boat of the WBC and you've been enjoying every moment so far? I just want question. Who won a leading man yesterday? Michael B. Jordan. Yeah. Very nice. Okay. Uh, I love it. It's the best baseball. Look, if it wasn't for that World Series last year, I could tell you that this year's World Baseball Classic has been the best baseball I've watched in a very, very, very, uh, long time. It's awesome, man. It's just the South American team, the flair that they bring. You know, you know, in the middle of the night, it's 11 o'clock and you're watching a game to pan versus somebody and you're watching that lineup and it's completely different baseball, but excellent baseball as well. Canada, not bad, pretty good, got to the knockout stage. Look, yesterday, uh, that Dominican lineup being held to one run, incredible pitching by the Americans. Uh, no, it's great. I think it's perfect too, right?

To have it right now. What a great way to get everybody going into the baseball and if you follow baseball, to just jump into your teams, but at the time this is done, spring training is pretty much done. So no, I think it's made for great television. Your Oscar winners. The big ones, obviously. One battle after another, uh, takes best picture. Simon, I know you're happy with a lockjaw winning best opponent, Sean Penn, who was not there. By the way, was not there to take in the award. Probably off saving some babies or something. But one battle after another, gentlemen, quick reaction, full, full value for the best picture, Oscar winner. Uh, I think it's the only one I watched. So I'm pretty happy. I know what I think. I know what I think. When I watched it, I thought it was great. I thought Leo was great. I thought Vinicidl Toro was great. Yeah. And I thought Sean Penn was going to win an Oscar for that performance. So, uh, yeah, I thought it was a good movie. The girl, uh, Chase Infinity who played the Capriose daughter was so good. Yeah, she was excellent.

I loved it. I was, you know, I really did. I love Paul Thomas Anderson. I'm so glad that that he gets that. Um, yeah, I don't always think the best picture was the best picture. I saw seven of the 10 movies. Oh, wow. There's three that I didn't see. Yeah. Um, so I, you know, take that for what it's worth. But I was, I was happy that, uh, that it worked out. Yeah. Only a third man, uh, third male actor to win three Oscars in his, uh, Thesbian career. Who? Sean Penn. Oh, right. Yeah. I thought I'd been, I liked Vinicidl better than him in the movie. Frankly, he was a few small beers. He was great. He was great. Uh, you guys are great. Uh, Simon, thanks as always. We'll catch you Wednesday morning. Get there. There he goes. Simon's Lucas coming up next year on the morning show. Oh, what's the Buffalo Sabre secret to success? Hmm. Get it from, uh, Rosmistaline. Uh, you got to hear it next here on the morning show. Unmistakably Canadian.
