And say thanks for tuning in, but why am I going to give you a round of applause for something you're supposed to do to be frank? And now, here are your hosts, Chase Park. And Broadcast School is really paid off. And be able to create it. I deserve to be on TV. Welcome, man. This Thursday morning edition of Blue Sky Live here with you today, Jeffrey Wright. On the whole, not fully sitting in for Neil McCready today, who is out until Sunday
or Monday, if had a good week of guest host, Chris Lee joining me on Tuesday, Michael Borkey on Wednesday, and now Jeffrey taking his seat as he does every single Thursday with this hair on the Oxford veterinary clinic. Hotline, more on them in a minute, Ole Miss on a by-week. But still a decent sight of games this week. We'll go over that. Look at those picks for the week. Neils picks up at Rebels 24-7. Rebels24-7.com. We love for you guys to jump aboard and join us there. And then thank you for listening every day to a show brought to you by Blue Sky locations throughout the state of Mississippi. Up in 955, they're out north Mississippi as well. Also, sweet daddy stops along the way. Brisk at Pullport, side items desserts, and plenty more, including those lunch specials, been telling you about for well over a decade, 569, a couple sides of bread, any size fountain drink. Clark Ford is in Amory, Mississippi, 662, 257, 1900. You can call Cory. Once you be your car guy, once you be your truck guy, we'll take care of you.
And then we tell you, every day about Oxford veterinary clinic, the hotline there, taking care of Gus and Rizzo, taking care of your animals. Also there, that's the Oxford veterinary clinic. Obviously in Oxford, Jeffrey, I was a post on our board yesterday that we showed a picture of me and Neil from. I think about 10 years ago, I think we were interviewing Chad Kelly, but it was us sitting on a couch. And somebody said, you ought to go back and find some of the mid, I guess teens, if you will, podcast and put them up. And I searched around on YouTube and couldn't find a ton. Really, YouTube starts even the audio version in like 2018 for me to find most of the shows. But this morning, I pulled up the Matt Luke fired episode from that night, the night that he was out. And it's such a good hindsight episode because it's talking about Keith having the ability to take a flyer on a coach because of how low you were at the time and how the program was so stagnant.
Boy said, just gotten hired. You hadn't had COVID yet. It was really a remarkable episode from a time stamp standpoint, if you will. Just to time capsule was what I was looking forward to there. I want we did back in high school, he all probably did one too. But of the moment and what was going on and now seven, I guess seven, seven issues later and where Ole Miss has headed and is now trying to keep the momentum going. But it was a, it was an interesting little 25 minute recap this morning to book and officially sort of that entire era of the last six years. Yeah, a lot has changed, doesn't it? You know, because really, was there really a program that like if you go back to 2018, was there really a program that even had momentum? I mean, I guess baseball is still pretty good.
But that was coming off. Well, I mean, so that episode would have happened late November, early December 2019, which would have been Ole Miss had Black Monday with Tennessee Tech and 18 in baseball and then 19. That was a team that sort of was just okay in the regular season and then they ended up losing into Arkansas and the super regional in Fayetteville. But, Kermit was still on the front end, ish. So Kermit has the term in it. It makes the term in his first year and I guess yeah, there would have been at least, it hadn't like cratered yet at that point. But man, there wasn't a lot of, there was not a lot of enthusiasm and obviously a lot of other things have to fall in place. But it is where you do understand like some of these other schools and I don't think
they even mean it as a pejorative but it's like if Ole Miss can do it, why can't we? And I do think that that is a fair sentiment. Now, it also completely overlooks the fact that Ole Miss has done things to position themselves to be in success. Like they were ahead of the curve on a lot of this and they've taken advantage of it and it's really hard when you have no momentum to build momentum. So like when you're starting from behind, like really the only answer is to just throw a ton of money at it and then you're also dependent on winning. But like it does show like almost, you know, the reality of Ole Miss athletics could not be more different in what, seven years? Well and what I laughed at was, because I listened to two different shows when I was pulling links with these people and in that one what I laughed at was Matt had stabilized the
program somewhat, which was true coming off the NCAA stuff. But I kept going unless the transfer portal goes crazy, unless the transfer portal goes crazy because we knew nothing about the portal in that moment. It was just beginning to even be a thought, had no idea. And the point was if Ole Miss lost its entire roster to transfers and Matt Carrell goes to Oregon and whatever, there's no stability there if you have no players. But that was also such an interesting sentence just because of what ended up coming and Ole Miss stepping ahead. And then the other one, and it's funny how this was only eight months later I guess, was I turned on about 15 minutes of the first pre-game show that we ever streamed. And it was Lane's first game played Florida and Oxford, COVID still very much a thing. And our relief that they were going to kick a ball off because of COVID. And getting to that time, knew when I were talking about, hey, we didn't have an issue
on Thursday because a ton of players all of a sudden got COVID and there wasn't going to be a game on Saturday. There was relief getting through Thursday. I was talking about how there wasn't a buzz downtown, but at least it was people for the first time in a while because it was a home weekend, even though it was 15,000 people in the stadium or whatever it was. And how all the restaurants had built these outside, temporary dining spots for people to eat outside. I know it has not necessarily been that long and clearly I have not forgotten. But as I was listening to it, I was like, oh my God. Like that really was just the overall sentiment and all you were talking about every single day. And I do think we've sort of pushed that out of our minds in some capacity. It was fascinating just for a minute. I know I'm rambling, but it shocked me a little bit. Yeah. So this year, there was obviously a lot of September 11th retrospectives because of the 25th anniversary. I found that anytime, anyone, even if they're trying to take it from an objective point of
you and it's not coming from some type of agenda or some type of legacy shaping or policy shaping revisionist history. And I don't exactly enjoy any retrospective of that era. It's like I lived it. I'm good. Like why are we choosing to put our mindset back in that place? Yeah. Especially when it seems like I don't really know if anything was, I don't know if any lessons were learned. It doesn't really seem like it. Well that is a good point. We went back to, it may be worse later, didn't we? Did we, I guess last thing on this, not shut up, did we, enjoy the right word? Were we fraying about the 2020 season happening every week looking back?
In the summer we were, yeah. Okay. The SEC kind of saved it. Thank you quote saved it if you will. Well I really, I give credit really to, I think it was Bolzby at the time. Oh yeah. Because the lines are drawn, the big 10 and the pack 12 weren't playing. I believe the ACC said they were and then it was going to come down to what the big 12 did. Bolzby in August makes the decision that they're playing and then when everybody started playing then the other two leagues had to decide, okay I guess we have to play too. It really felt like most of the summer it was all hanging upon the big 12 to decide that they were playing. Yeah. Then Ole Miss clearly played all but one of his games. It didn't play Texas A&M, Texas A&M had, COVID issues although I think looking back everybody's
aware that they simply didn't, weren't going to have Kellyn mine so they canceled the game but nonetheless that was the one game that was not played. Well didn't know that I was trying to, didn't know that I was trying to play LSU. They didn't play it right? Yeah they did. There was that rainy, it was like a really rainy, it was like 57 52 or 55 50 or something. It was some crazy score. Was it the day of the SEC Championship? Oh was it really? I can't, they ended up playing it at the end of the year, I don't remember if they... Oh you're right, yeah December 19th. I think it was the day of the SEC Championship game. I mean obviously the season started later so everything, like the days were... The days were not necessarily, whatever but they played state in November 28th. They didn't have a game between November 28th and December 19th. I did not remember that. Yeah and it was a very sloppy game both weather and in execution.
53, 48 was the final of that game. In front of 21,905 at Tiger Stadium. And then Ole Miss B'd a Michael Pinnixlis Indiana team in front of 11,000 at the outback ball. Number 11 Indiana. So. There we go. There was a... There was a... There was a... Sorge B didn't play, did he? Who? Sorge B wasn't there yet right? No no no, it was just some dude, I don't remember who that was. I mean was there backup quarterback, but like... I should remember. Just 26 Indiana 20. Pointed up. Matt Carrell through with 342 yards and the wind. Tuddle was the quarterback in Indiana. Yeah. Jake Tuddle. Jack Tuddle maybe. Jack Tuddle. Jack Tuddle, 26 of 45, 201 yards. No touchdowns, one pick. 21 yards on 45 throws.
That's... That's something. That's not efficient. That's not efficient. Henry Parrish, 17 rushes for the Rebels. Snoop Connor got six. John Rice Pumley got a touch. For almost a day. All right. Let's see. Nils picks going into the week. We're quite early in this competition. You and I both five and four weeks against the spread last week. Nils six and three. Land in five and four. Cam three and six. Brian four and five and four this season. We've got... Let's see. I've got a win game lead at 27 and 22 against the spread. Jeffrey 26 and 23. Cam 24 and 25. Brian 25 and 24. Land in 22 and 27 along with Mr. McCready, 22 and 27. Also. This is not a perfect week by any means,
but there's enough games to keep my attention throughout this day. It's not the worst slate considering some buys and different things. And we did not have this on our card going into the year, but I am incredibly intrigued by the 11am game. Number seven, Alabama minus four and a half. Number 16, Mississippi State. That is on ABC. I kind of feel bad for the Bulldogs this game being at 11am. But nonetheless, to kick off our day and... My head is telling me, Jeffrey, that Alabama is going to win this game by double digits. But I pick state to cover just because I'm a man of my word. And last week I said I'm riding them until they bug me off. Yeah, there definitely is a... You sometimes... You don't quit on a heater. My thought is... Mississippi State has really gotten away with extremely bad tackle play. On the offensive side, and it's really also a testament to how incredible Camario has been.
The fact that basically his left tackle gets beat every single snap, and they're still able to throw the football. I just think that Alabama is going to be able to get him to the ground at a better rate than anyone that they've played so far. And Alabama's offense has really, really started to hum. The offense itself is toward 38 points in at least in every single game. And this feels to me like... Alabama is going to get into the mid to high 30s, and I just don't think states can be able to quite get there. State has had the perfect progression of a schedule for a team trying to build and trying to get a little momentum when they're pretty good, because they played this Minnesota team that had no ability athletically to stay on the field with them. That was a complete mismatch from a... You also had some ad ratio standpoint. They were injuries too.
That was a crap show of a game. South Carolina is a train wreck. You allowed them to combust by staying in the game and not getting blown out early. And then you want a really competitive game against Missouri. Beat a good team, but you got to ride this home crowd. And Missouri is not world beaters. Frankly, you should have beat them worse, because Missouri... Austin Simmons tried to throw you like five picks and you drop several of them. But it has been sort of this build, build, build. If you're pretty competitive, it's been a perfect game and a perfect season for state to this point. They get Alabama. And yeah, I'm kind of with you. I just think, BAMMUS Front 7 is so different than anything they have seen. It's going to at least give a much different challenge to Camario Taylor over the course of the day. And then, look, TOT offensively is pretty good. I mean, you know, look, there's a world where I know Camario Taylor is the flavor of the week. And he should be 14 touchdowns, two picks, so far on the season and all these things.
It is very likely, Jeffrey, we're just sleeping on Kielan Russell a little bit right now. And he's better than we're giving him credit for. I've been, I feel like I've been on this for a while. Yeah. I think we're just sleeping on Alabama. We are. They are underrated for the first time in 20 years. I mean, Crane and maybe A&M just got awful, but it's like the Kentucky win has aged better than you thought at the time. Like, you thought at the time, like, oh, that was cute for a hot second. Alabama just put them back into the wood shed. But we've seen since then, like, Kentucky still looks fairly good. And I mean, they absolutely destroyed South Carolina. Like, I get it. South Carolina is like not a great team, but like, they might have single-handedly, like, inded chainbeamer on Saturday. Like, they beat him that badly. That you got to kill him. Kentucky is their best win today. And again, I'm not saying like that's that that's a
sometime of like great resume win, but it's aging better than you thought when you, when you saw the finals for that Saturday, it was like 4517 or whatever. You're like, oh, Kentucky's still Kentucky. In the subsequent two weeks, you're like, maybe Kentucky is a little better. They are averaging 48 points a game offensively. Alabama. They've only not gotten into the 40s offensively points scored the Kentucky game because they had the picks. OK, but they've got 48, 45, 50, 49. I was trying to get it. They have Georgia next week. I mean, to me, that part of the Mississippi state hesitation, is part of the Alabama hesitation is the fact that they have Georgia on deck. But like, Florida, I think, leads the lead.
EPA per dropback and Alabama is like, yeah, Florida's 0.49 EPA per dropback. Alabama's at 0.48. Florida's success rate, 53.7. Alabama's 53.6. The offense that feels like it's unstoppable, and I'm not just saying that, because almost played them last week, but that's what they have felt offensively. Alabama, metrically, really lines up with them. Explain that stat for our general pop. EPA per play is every single snap. Do you add, does the play add expected points? So it's basically another version of success rate. And then success rates a little bit more. Did down and distance, did you gain at least four yards on first and 10, or did you gain half of what you needed to do? Like, so are you really moving the ball? But the EPA per play is, was your play successful enough that it was,
was adding that you could expect to add points based on the, based on the play. And some ways it's a football war based off of play. Is 0 as low as you can get, or can it go into the negative? Oh, it can go into the negatives. See Texas A&M. Okay. Alright. Fair enough. We'll get to them here, here soon. There are a couple people picking state straight up in this game. I just couldn't, I couldn't go there. And I know I can sort of break my rule, which is don't take a team to win, but not cover when it's three and a half or point something like that. But I just, I'm, I like state to be competitive here, but I could not pick them to win this football game. Just couldn't, it was not a thing. The match up there between the tide and the bulldogs coming up on October the 10th,
they get Vanderbilt Vanderbilt plus 24 and a half 11.45 AM SEC network on Saturday. And we had Chris Lee on the network on Tuesday. He was talking about Jared Curtis's improvement or needed improvement. Jeffrey, he paired it a lot of what you have said, which was it's Curtis's talent surrounded by a bunch of dudes. And I don't mean that in a good way. And the overall talent fall off of Vanderbilt simply does not make this sustainable against any type of above average team right now. It's it's Kurt Jared Curtis and a bunch of guys, I think really. Yeah. Um, Cheryl's still a pretty good player. Um, this is the, I'm doing the same kind of this. God, Georgia's been a wagon. But it just feels like I don't know like they got that big game next week. I feel like everybody's loaded up on Georgia. You're giving me 24 and a hook.
It's such a big it's such a big spread. Like 34 10 still gets me home. I got it. I don't, I don't love it, but. I also kind of like we haven't really had the Georgia sleepwalk game. I know they just keep hammering everybody. And I think part of that is because they are so good at running the ball because they can just like we talk about it with Florida. Like Florida feels like they have a super high floor because of how effectively they can run the ball. Georgia's kind of doing the same thing. I don't know this was a, this was the in rod bet. This is the, I know everybody wants to be on Georgia. Let's 24 and a hook. Come on. Let's get out of there. Look. Cut me some gray is on what's about to be a stupid sentence, but are we so wagon heavy on Georgia that we're overrating them right now?
I mean you asked me to not play anybody. You asked me this on Saturday. No. I know, but like Jeffrey, look, they're really, okay, here's the difference. I know I get it. Excess Texas is defense. Might be the most underrated unit in the league. They're really good. They're incredible and really the only thing we talk about is Simmons and Simmons is awesome. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not diminishing his impact on their defense. Sure. Their offense is going to get them beat. Georgia does not have that. Like Georgia doesn't have the big swing. Like Georgia's really good on defense. They're really good on offense. They have an incredibly high floor. Maybe they don't have the highest ceiling, but they certainly have the highest floor. Oh, I hate Texas's offense right now. Well, let me look, Ole Miss plays Georgia at home where they've won more than anyone else at home in the nation since 2023.
And when I'm handicapping it, if they're going to get back in this thing at all, I give them much more of a chance of going to Austin and winning that at home against Georgia today. Yeah, I mean, I, I, I wholeheartedly agree. Now, do I think Texas's defense is better than Georgia's defense? I do, but I also don't think Ole Miss is going to have to score as much against Texas to, to get in front. Yeah, they're going to have to win a shootout against Georgia against that defense. Now, if you want to do the, are we prisoners of the moment? Arches have been significantly worse on the road than he is at home. Are we undervaluing the fact that Ole Miss has to go on the road against Arches? I mean, in, in somewhat, sure. Let me look. If Ole Miss was playing Texas in Oxford, I, I think I would have Ole Miss favored. I just, I don't know. I'm at the point now where it's like, Arches fine, but like I, I'm, this idea that...
He's all of a sudden going to be the first pick in the draft. I'm like, these people don't have eyeballs. The only thing that gives me hesitation on saying like, I don't believe he will be a first rounder this year is the Browns. Because Haslam will just take Arches. Gunner Stockton, look, he's got that run game. He's got a ton of talent around him. I mean, he, he is really good. I think you said Saturday being Georgia's quarterback. Ten touchdowns, one pick as of right now. So he's been sacked four times. I mean, he is just doing nothing in the negative. It is, it is all just slowly moving forward to some capacity. He's got the best rating right now in the SEC from a quarterback rating standpoint. Yeah, I think he's over 200. He's only averaging like 20 throws a game. Because they've been beating everyone so badly. He's 52 of 70. Again, I keep my comparison. Chamblist is 102 for 144.
He's thrown twice as many throws as Stockton. Chamblist has the unfortunate reality right now of. Chamblist's eye test is so much better than his metrics are. Yeah. When you watch Chamblist play, you're like, God, he's good. His numbers are not terrible, but they're not like, you know, if you look at it in the league and we're still. Four games in it's kind of like in that six to. It feels like he averages out around like six of the quarterbacks so far. And it's like, well, they're not five quarterbacks that I'd take ahead of him. It's want to win the Heisman. He's going to have to lead some drives and they're going to have to win a couple of these games. I mean, his Heisman thing isn't done yet because. Oh God, no. They still have there. Listen, if he goes and he beats Texas and Georgia will hand him the trophy like so.
You don't want to be out in front right now. Yeah. Again, there's a world where in look Ole Miss hopes this isn't the case. There's a world worth a J Daniel situation. I looked it up on Monday. I think that's Monday. Ole Miss is 16th of 16 in the SEC in yards after contact. And it's not. Depends. Yeah, defensively. That's not just a Florida stat. They are the good news though is there only 12th in yards before contact. So that's a problem. They are first in the SEC in tackles missed. I believe it's fifth nationally. Let me pull that bad boy up for you. They're averaging like 16 missed tackles again.
They're basically missing a tackle like every third play. They're 126th nationally in overall run defense. And they are 96th nationally in quarterback pressures defensively. Yeah, so Ole Miss has missed 62 tackles in four games. This is true media. Yeah. Okay. It's 15 and a half again. What does that rank? Do you have that? In the league, it is last. If I make it nationally, it is fourth to last. Oh. Here are the teams that are ahead of them. UTSA who I believe just allowed 40 something points to Colorado State's back up. Wake Forest. Just a side speed issue there. Florida Atlantic is third. Ole Miss is tied with Louisiana Monroe.
So here are the 10 teams in the bottom of the league. Are UTSA, Wake Forest, Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss, Louisiana Monroe, Tulane, Stanford, Sacramento State, Central Michigan, and Marshall? How much money do you think Ole Miss spent on their defense? There's a chance Ole Miss spent more money on their defense than the other teams can buy. Oh, I think that's probably almost a certainty. Like, because you got to think Ole Miss spent give or take $20 million on his defense. Yeah. Give or take. Yeah. It's an approximate $40 million roster. And I know Lacey and Trinidad get a ton on the offensive side, but there's not another really highly paid player on the offensive side. We'll look at where they spend a lot of the money in the portal. Yeah, it's defense. With Pete Danpicking guys, with what he thought we're ceilings.
Are you intrigued at all at 230 for Auburn and Tennessee or is this a TV2? And we're gonna do the big 10 thing. Auburn plus seven and a half. How does Tennessee get off the mat is interesting? And by the way, this is TV2 anyway, because you would have Florida, Missouri ahead of this game. The thing with Auburn is the way Florida beat them let you write them off. I still, I've watched them now, three full games. Auburn? Yeah. Okay. They're not playing well. Like, are you saying that from the side of they don't suck? They do not suck. They might suck on offense. Which is kind of what we thought going in, but goal ish does not like last year when they sucked on offense,
they just gave up. Goal ish is like trying to find things that work. I think that might be the problem. But I think there was the thought after Florida, man, that defense there, everybody thinks is good. Is no good. And it's like, well, I don't know. Florida seems to be doing that to kind of everybody. I'm not ready to write off Auburn as like God off, like bottom four SEC yet, but this is a, this is a test. Like, at some point, I would like for them to have a game where they looked good on offense, because even last week against Vandy, like they had some drives where they were getting the ball in an incredible field position. And they just, like, punt from plus territory. Where are we sitting overall on phase on at this point? Does some good things.
They don't ask him to do a whole lot. Not many quarterbacks last week would have had a lot of success. No, I do want to see how he responds after the shoulder. Because I think what clearly happened to him is he really hurt his shoulder. He went and got his Tylenols in the in the tent. Came back was looking and feeling good, but also if you're sometimes dealing with that, don't practice a ton. And they just try to get you ready for game day. How does, how does that impact his development? I still am intrigued by him. I think it was a horrible matchup and then everything got sped up on him, but he's still for the most part. He's been pretty good. Yeah, I don't think Auburn has a chance to win this football game, but I don't know that I want to lay the touchdown in the hook either. I would doing it, but that's it's a perfect line. I would rather play phase on Brandon right like today than I would fire him brown by a lot.
Yeah, yeah, not close for sure. CBS finally getting a decent game number three Ohio State plus 14 and a half at number 14 Iowa said decent game. And it's more than two touchdown line. It's where college game day is at CBS to 30, of course. And there is just a very big gap between the big 10s best and everyone else. And one of these teams is up there and one is not even though Iowa has been quite spunky to this point. So how state has gotten the ball moved on them a little bit? I think when you're getting the ball moved on you, the antidote to that's Iowa's offense. Like that was the other thing that was so fascinating about the Michigan Iowa game was. How thoroughly Michigan outplayed him. I mean, you know, that is your welcome to the big 10 moment for Kyle Wittingham. You just got Iowa you just outgamed him two to one. You had a punt return on you.
You had a couple of like inexplicable pass plays that like there's no there's no football sense for what they did. Now also, uh, Fred at Iowa Michigan didn't finish drives like Michigan had to settle for a couple of field goals. Deep inside territory and then they have the receiver running deep underwood throwing short, which I kind of defend underwood. Underwood threw it exactly where I would have said that's where he should have thrown it. But there's miscommunication ball gets picked. I just Iowa has gone up under fairness. I think I think the average score against Ohio states like 34 13. That feels about like with the skate what I said that that that feels about right. You speak in a Michigan quickly they're going to win on Saturday and Minneapolis.
Penn State's not very good they got a by week in there but this is the team it's probably about to go seven and five. Just looking at the remaining schedule and that's even escaping where they have and got the one over Oklahoma but I easily could see four more losses on the schedule. So even in the horrible Davis Warren year. They gave Indiana everything they wanted. I think they even had a lead late. Games in or burn a few weeks. I think with Indiana I still think they're really good I think we just. While Lee overlooked the fact that the highest been trophy winner in the number one pick is gone. So some people that are propping up Hoover is the next dude I mean it's been crazy. If you watch that Northwestern game you realize like he's not like he's not awful like don't get me wrong. I think he's still better than Rorqu was for them.
But he misses throws that Fernando did not like in that first half they had skimmed up like three or four. I'm gonna no doubt wide open touchdown place like two he throws out of bounds one he throws the guys so short that like they come back and it turns a touchdown and just like a gain of like 15. Now he's not time to get better but I'm. I'm not just penciling in Indiana Ohio State again. Michigan defense is good enough to basically be in every game except maybe Ohio State but I don't know Ohio State's getting run on man. There's one team I know that we'll be able to try to run on. How good did you see a lot. He's got a lot of similarities to state. Except it doesn't feel as one man showy but.
They're schedule has worked in their favor but when they have a chance to like step on your neck and beat you they do. The running attack is very very good. Niko's playing hard like. If I showed you tape of Niko this year versus tape of Niko last year you think this is an entirely different human being like. Like is this the prestige where like is this a different Niko is this the twin Niko. You can definitely move it on them. And Maryland quit last week but like they're. They can run it on you to a level that they can like keep the game script in their favor. And there's not a lot of teams on their schedule that I'm like man that team will shut them down.
Now they have like don't they have that weird at the end of the year ping pong thing with their schedule it's like. Every other week they're either at home or they're flying like 3000 miles. Oh let's see they finish the year. At Minnesota Ellen the way at Michigan USC. Like this right there they're off this week they'll get Oregon where we'll learn a little bit more because Oregon is at least a team that will try to like physically stop the run against them. I think it was constant at home Michigan state at home at Minnesota Illinois. I don't know man like that's not a lot there because also like what if USC is imploded by then I know this schedule. Just saying. I mean I know they're not perfect by any means but.
That's one to watch just just just because the schedule isn't much of any. Well always just do the dumb brain thing of coach GMU goes to Indiana coach GMU goes to UCLA schedule very favorable. Yeah absolutely smoking folks. I don't know I will know more in two weeks if they can run the ball in Oregon like I think you have to take them seriously. Hey you are going to be proud of me I am completely over any type of day in landing fascination. Just done. I'm completely sick of him. It's not like a pro media thing but like even like some of his press conference answers I just roll my eyes and go come on dude like stop. You're you're you're not Bella check you're not whatever you're trying to be quit I'm done completely out. Yes he is one of his own worst enemy.
You've won a lot of games congratulations you have the Oregon job. Yeah you're well funded in a very top heavy conference. When the talent is even your teams get beat yes. Yeah just a little bit smart I said hasn't deserved it. I did find myself wondering. I mentioned on Saturday like I just the one credit I will give him is he is made Dylan Ryo la lesson knowing. And I kind of found myself wondering like man were they better with him because like. Isn't he less annoying just because he's back a quarterback. Well he's got him to stop cosplaying. So he's not wearing a variation of a homes his number and he's not doing the home homes thing but I do think there's probably something to it that he's a backup but I also don't. When he becomes the starter next year I don't think that it's going to go back to that like I think they've they've gotten that out of him.
But like he gets the ball out of his hand. And don't say more is not to get the ball out of his hand quick guy like I did find myself wondering is like. Is this thing moving better or is it like hey. Don't say getting hurt like he did was a rallying crime like everybody just stepped up. You're saying that Ryo la of all people is what makes Oregon palatable. Well offensively it looks to make some more watchable. I hate watching their offense with Dante fair enough. Florida five and a half Missouri 230 ABC that is in a coma. You have Florida winning but winning a no brighter you got the Tigers covering and I do the same thing actually we had the exact same score this week. I'm doing the NFL thing. Yeah Florida could not have looked any better than they did last week. Now while Ole Miss leads the SEC and missed tackles Missouri is seconds.
Oh that's not a good one. Now the difference though is Missouri has done a better job with their front stopping the run. I think they're like second in the SEC in yards yards before contact. I am interested to see what happens to a team when Florida can't just pick on your secondary to tackle their running backs. If somebody can hold the line on them and maybe Missouri is not the team to do it. Maybe we won't really notice if they play Texas before Georgia. It is right before it is week one week than the next week. So maybe we won't know anything until then. But I also don't think Missouri is going to watch Florida game film and think, hey boys you know what we need to do. We got to we got to establish the run early like we got to pick on the secondary.
Now Missouri has only played one team that should be able to run on you at all in that state. I mean, Fluff's pretty good, but I mean, so having the second most missed tackles is also problematic when you look at their schedule has been time bluff Kansas Troy in Mississippi state to date. Kansas has run the ball. Okay, they can't finish. Kansas is kind of that team right now that moves the ball and figures out ways not to score. But now the big question on Saturday is just going to be as Austin Simmons going to throw the gators three balls. Yeah, or does he throw? Do see throw Florida into a score where they got a start chase. Yeah, yeah, fair. I think the. I think you have to. You have to try to jump on Florida and make them play from behind. Yeah, anything to take them out of rhythm.
And that was such the problem with Saturday the nightmare start is it just never put Florida really in a position where they couldn't just. And they played with a lead the entire game. Even just a pun on that first possession. Yeah, just make them drive the field a little bit Kentucky three and a half South Carolina three 15 SEC network. I mean, maybe riding Kentucky here. I do not understand why they keep laying points with South Carolina. Like this is where it's like, okay, if I'm wrong, fine. So be it, but what does South Carolina done? I guess the hope is addition by subtraction. They had a lead on state at halftime is their high water more than the season. And a lot of that was also state. They're just operationally a train wreck right now. And again, I. I just maybe I'm remembering too much of last year, but it's like.
South Carolina's power rating last year was always so much more than what they had put on the field. Like they were foreign aid against the number last year. And it's like every single time they keep saying South Carolina favorites like thank you. I'm going to take the free money. South Carolina coming off back to back losses 43 41 34 that was not that close to Mississippi state. And then 49 18 as you mentioned earlier to Alabama. And this starts a pretty difficult three game stretch for the gamecock, especially if they lose on Saturday Kentucky at Florida Tennessee before it does loosen up for three games. You got to think Bamer's out. He's not going to survive this. They're going to be. They're going to be two and five when they play Oklahoma. Enormon on October 31. God, but a war if he wants to win less that'll be. Oh, three offenses over two weeks to really look out for here.
You have back to back week South Carolina at Oklahoma and South Carolina hosting Texas A&M. And then South Carolina at Arkansas. Dear God, you might score 17 points and go three and a. Horrific offenses. Do you know how hard this is to do South Carolina averages. 6.9 yards for play and as an offensive success rate of 46%. Oh. I really want to go in the draft. Where did Taylin go? Did Taylin go sixth round? I mean, is he going to get somebody fired? I don't think he goes early enough to get somebody fired. Because I like Taylin Green as a quarterback prospect better than I like Lenoris. Because I think Taylin is a pro. He was a sixth round, 180 second overall pick. In my mind, I'm thinking with Lenoris like fifth. No pressure. Yeah. Got a win the underwear Olympics. He's a great athlete. Great athlete. But I mean, Taylin Green was a decidedly better passer in college. And he went sixth round. And Taylin was tough to win the underwear Olympics more than Taylin did at 66, whatever he played. I mean, Taylin would be a high-alt name had he played anywhere but Arkansas.
He was incredible. His team sucked. You put him on a contender and he would be somebody we talked about all year. And then on top of that, like he got just delayed. Yeah. I mean, look, he almost beat Ole Miss single-handedly. He was great that day. Just had one mistake. You're going to be the smart one here. You're taking the points. Arkansas plus 14 and a half at Texas A&M, 6 p.m. ESPN 2, the line has just bugged me so much that I went the other way. I have no real reason for it. I hate watching both these teams play football. Marcel Reed going into the year. I hated watching him play and I hated even more now. He's God absolutely awful. And yet, they're probably at least talent-wise, certainly the better offense in this game. So, it's documented my thoughts in the surf field.
I've had wound up watching Arkansas the last two weeks. They've had some stuff open. Marshall is a very good player. I don't know how you can watch A&M right now and think like... Marcel's horrible, but they're bad on both lines of scrimmage. And... I don't know. I just don't trust them to beat anyone by two touchdowns right now. And then being bad at both lines of scrimmage is probably the most shocking thing in SEC. It's got a lot of shocking things through four weeks. Like, I did not see that coming. The offensive numbers are very similar for these teams. 2.2 points per drive to two. 26.5% touchdown rate to 21.7.
Arkansas's kicking more field goals. 15 to 12. Turnovers per drive. 13% for Arkansas. 12% for A&M. Arkansas's drives are a little bit longer. 6.5 plays to 5.9. Field positions within five yards. 5.9. Arkansas's drive, like... Arkansas for a little bit was kind of moving the ball on Georgia. Now they couldn't do anything about it, but they were able to like move it a little bit. A&M hasn't really looked good against anyone yet. And they've played some more schedules. Yeah. Arkansas's had to deal with Georgia and Utah. Like, they're ranked 20 at this week. A&M, LSU, Kentucky, Arizona, state. And really, even Arizona state went up and down the field, but like they just like they just kept throwing it to them.
Well, and A&M was scuffling in that game before I think a special teams play and maybe even a defensive touchdown. Yeah, Karyfield's a fumble six, a pick six. There was a there were there was something late. That put it away and made sure they were going to cover. But it was a it was a mess. So I think you're right here, but this is really just like in my in again, I'm not claiming I'm a brilliant odds maker. But in my own power ratings, I have a and M way lower than than Vegas does. So what would you have set that line at? Had you been in Vegas? 10. Okay. Yeah, so you feel like you're stealing almost half a touchdown. Correct. It's fair. Final game of the day is LSU and Migny state, whatever. Don't care. I don't know who does LSU have next week.
Uh, Kentucky. Where's that game? I think you like sington. Putting a pin in that. Interested. I was a bad news to play state. Here was stuff open. I guess LSU and if they could have just been. Ask rather than mega ask. Like they could have been in the game. 38 seven was the final. I thought I thought they got into the 40s. Did they know how to do that? Okay. Later. I think I'm going to say I want to say it was like 44 to. It was 35 six. You're right. Your NFL game tonight is the Steelers and the Browns and Cleveland Pittsburgh.
It's two and a half on the road. The internet being taken a storm by Mike Tomlin's Minecraft city this week. Just uh, Baffling everyone apparently. He made that public. Worked on it for 12 years to connect with his children. I got it. I've never played Minecraft, but it's impressive. Again. I don't really know exactly like I've seen the. He looks like he could have been an architect. Yeah. No, it was fantastic. Like. Again, I get it. There's a lot more that goes into it. But. I give water features yet artwork up like. I listened to him for several minutes discussing that he was so concerned with the views out of a certain high rise apartment in his city that looked over the baseball stadium. I don't tell like even through in like logos. He had P and C logo.
I give. Again, I'm sure there is some 11 year old that can do like. Oh, I did that in 35 minutes. I understood that. As a 38 year old, I was like, damn. Are we giving him credit overall for this because of the attention to detail? How many hours did this take, bud? So I get I saw some internet story that said they think it took like 3500 hours. My HR based off the average Minecraft player. Correct. My HR wife HR director wife tells me that would have been basically. A year full time job a year and I was like, OK, over 12 years. That sounds like a hobby. Sounds like a hobby. Sounds like a good decompression where he just goes and does his thing. Correct. That doesn't sound any different to me than any coach that placed golf.
Golf. I mean, hell, even less like less impactful of getting like, right that. I mean, how many hours over 12 years does somebody does a mega reader read a freaking novel? Yeah. A lot. I don't know that did not sound me like 3500. Is that what you that's what you said that's what the internet that's what the internet estimates were. So that's 3500 hours per day or divided by 12 years. So we know it's going to be 37 hunt like just like this a decades. 3750 days. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So then you attack on another. So we're talking like 4300 days roughly. It sounds like he's spending like 30 30. You need to average 48 minutes per day. Yeah, sounds like it was an hour long distraction.
Which might mean on Tuesday he does two and a half hours. So he's like, I'm not beating him up on this. Correct. When they said 12. Now if they would have said this is what he did the last three years, I would sit there and go. Well, maybe you can draw a line of how they looked, but it's like over 12 years. It's like, yeah, that sounds like it was a passion project. And I don't mind my coach having an immaculate attention to this. Correct. And he has immaculate attention to detail. Also, you're going to get better like any other thing. So he's going to move through this much faster in year seven than year one. Because if you told me today to start Minecraft, I've got to learn how to play. I'm going to be drawing stick figures for a month. Oh, I think it would have been so. I also think that it's going to be a lot of fun. I think it would have been so I also give him a commitment to like sticking with it.
That looks like the thing that I would quit within two weeks. Well, he didn't play with his kids forever. And then his kids grew out of it and he just kept going. And stayed with it. By speaking to some obsession. Were you a Sims kid at any point? Yeah, I was almost exclusively a sports game. Okay. I mean, I did some, it was like sports and racing. I had some moments when I was pretty young with Sims City, but it might have been like one of the first variations of that game. Like way back in the day. Because I was pretty, I was pretty little. I got into one of the roller coaster ones, the building of the roller coaster. But then when every roller coaster I built was like people will die. I kind of lost interest. Yeah, so the first release was Sims City in 89. That's probably the game I played. Because I would have been like six.
So maybe the next version through like 10 years old or something. Yeah, I was, I would venture a guess 90% of the, because I never really got into like, even in college when my friends were playing called duty. I mean, I was terrible at it. So like that makes you not want to play. Like when you're doing, when you're all four of you are playing and you're the first one that dies every single time. It's like, all right, well, I'm cool in this. But I would basically guess 80 to 90% of all video games have ever played. It's been sports games. Well, and I don't think I've picked up a controller in 10 years. Maybe longer. I got a, Alia got me a PS5 like two or three Christmases ago. And I played Madden and when NCAA came back, I played that, but I don't think I played it since last year. I think I would play a Wii occasionally if I had one just for nostalgia. Well, the other one, I played a ton of Wii when we were like at the appropriate ages,
even though we were 10 years apart. No, it's the same thing. Like Connor got a Wii and we do the tennis and the bowling. We played a lot of Mario Kart with the steering wheel. Yeah. Yeah, I think I would play a Wii. But outside of that, I have not picked one up at all. Like I'm just not like, I think the last video game that I put real time into. And it's because like you said, just a bunch of buddies in college doing it together. I think a group of us beat Grand Theft Auto by city. Well, you got to do it coming out. There's always time. Okay, I think I'm I think I'm all right there. Last thing in a couple of weeks in any any good bets, bad bets, good values, bad values in the NFL. Is we as we close? Um. Sunday night was an all-timer. I'm destined like I'm going to be destined.
I'm just going to sit there and yell from the rooftops. He still sucks. Um. I think the Falcons with Pinnix watch them. The Saints are going to win the the the anniversary of the dome, though, right? I still I still think the Saints are the best team in the South. I was going to think this. I don't think the Raiders are going to challenge for the division. If you tell me the Raiders are the seventh playoff team, I mean, they're three. Oh, not only that. They got powers back on Sunday and you realize like, oh, yeah, you can't guard that guy. The Saints have the easiest schedule the rest of the way. There's Sunday. They got him back on Sunday. That's what the biggest reason why I like the Saints was schedule. No team in the South has more than one win. Packers and sucks.
Hey, fading the Packers might be a good move because they're so depleted. Like they're signing guys from Home Depot to try to fix up the offensive line. Saints favored by two and a half on the Falcons Monday night. Lions favored by three and a half on the road at Carolina. I love Detroit on the road. It only three and a half on Sunday. Panthers don't have either starting corner. They've been bad up front defensively. The problem is the Lions defense is so awful. It is. That's it. You know, here's what you sign up for with the Lions. You're going to have a two score lead in the second half and you're going to have to hold your butt. Whether or not they can win. Yeah, they're gops even playing well. Like. Pats might be real bad. Like may looks broken. Um.
I think the tags are really good. Like the Jags have one bad half at Denver. And now we're starting to see it's like maybe the maybe the moon maybe the. Maybe the sharp bet right now in the NFL is. Every Denver home game. Wait till half time. Let them be down and then take them in the second half. It feels like everybody just starts the thin air and starts sucking. It's also possible the AFC West is just good. I think if you were a chiefs hater. Sorry, this feels like that they're very much a part of it. Yeah. I think the Jags are catching two and a half on the road. It's an adding on Sunday. I love burrow, but I want me jagging off there. Bill's giving six and a half to Drake May as you just mentioned. That's in Buffalo or should park. Rams giving three on the road. It's Philly. I mean, L.A. needs to like get this thing in gear a little bit.
It is Philly. I'm not. I'm not ready to go Philly stinks because the last three or four years. They've like had these types of starts. You're like, oh God, is it finally caught up to them? Man, they. They can't block anybody on the interior, which would be problematic on Sunday. Correct. So you like the Rams minus three on the road? I think it's back in L.A. No Philly. We can financial it. No focus still out. They think he's playing. I also have PTSD because last year we had Rams money line. I think they were like maybe four or five point dogs. And they're up 17 or maybe even more in the second half.
The Eagles came storming back and then they blocked the kick. That was a regular season. Yeah, they blocked the kick. It feels like it was around the same time. It's the playoffs. We had the snow. Yeah, they blocked the kick and ran it back. Okay. Where you following on this JJ McCarthy thing? I talked to myself into if you treat him like a rental car, I'm fine with it. Like run into death. They spent a fifth round pick like it. He's not a this isn't a long term solution. It's a hey, our team is pretty good. Can we figure out a way to like steer at home? The biggest issue is Brian Burns tearing his ACL. Because Brian Burns makes our defense really good. And he's out now done. Yeah, he's pretty much done for the year. I think you tore it. Not excellent news. I don't know if you're in a game for anybody local might be interested. Although I don't know how you can be interested in the Titans at this point.
They are at Baltimore and they are 11 and a half point underdogs. Tennessee for years has just been the most non-descript generic football team in the league. I just I have no opinion. They're god awful. The logo looks made up like you're playing design a team on Madden. I have cam Wardstock so I can't even fire. I can't my cam Wardstocks going to have a nice place on the shelf right next to my Rosenstock. Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, that's a good one.
