Father, will you please fill us with your Holy Spirit? Will you give us your power? And I'm asking you, will you please teach us how to love you and to serve you in Jesus name I pray?
Amen. And again, a call to prophetic ministry. So back in the 1840s, the people of God were disappointed. When I say the people of God, I'm talking about there were people from a good number of faith fellowships. Some from different, if you want to use the word we use today, denominations who were all studying prophecy from the Bible books of Daniel. And now we know understanding from revelation, but they were studying in Daniel chapter eight in particular. And they thought that they were on the right track. And in fact, we know now in retrospect they were, but they got some details wrong and they were disappointed. Those people were disappointed. And God gave in that time, he gave young Ellen Harmon a vision that Jesus was still with his people and still leading them into a right relationship with him that they were on the right track, but they made an error that created that disappointment.
Now that situation put people in a position where they were going to decide like, am I going to continue to seek God's face? Am I going to still study the word of God? Am I still going to focus on God or am I going to say this is rubbish and I'm out of here? I'm not going to serve God anymore. Unfortunately, some people chose the latter, but the ones who kept their minds and eyes focused on God, those individuals were more and more enlightened and now have arrived at the truths that we understand concerning the 2300 days prophecy of Daniel chapter eight. Now, if you are interested in knowing more about this great disappointment, I'm using a real term here. I want you to go to amazing facts.com. I love that. Ministries perspective there. How, how they put it together. They package it. Go there. And then there is a search box. I checked it again today just to be sure it was exactly where I thought it was.
And when you click in that search box, type the great disappointment. And there are a few lessons there that will help you understand what happened and then subsequent understanding that lead us closer to God. And so those individuals misread the event, but not the God behind the prophecy. I'm talking about the faithful ones who continued with him that kept that kept studying almost a cake studying kept studying God's word and seeking his face. When our understanding falls short though, this is this is the lesson for all of us because not all of us were called to the prophetic ministry like Ellen was. But for those of us who are living in the last days when our understanding falls short, God is still faithful and is still working out as planned. And so what I need you to do is when your expectations of God are disappointed when you've written your prescription, which you shouldn't when you've written your prescription for God, which you shouldn't and things don't go in quite the way that you had planned trust God and trust that he is faithful.
I know it's Sabbath and sometimes you think that it's like a safe space where nothing can go wrong because we are in that special time with God, but you may get a flat tire today. You may get a phone call that something is quite not quite right with the health of someone you love something may happen to your body or you'll experience a trial, a temptation, a tribulation. And when those things happen, are you going to focus on those things? Are you going to focus on him? Are you going to trust in your own plans? Are you going to trust in him? You see the great disappointment is, you know, a lesson for how we study the word and how we remain on path with God. But it also informs what happens when things in our lives seem to be going, hey, why are and it causes a disturbance in our lives. Focus on God and not on our disappointment. Do not abandon your hope in God. Our next lesson comes in from Hebrews chapter 12 and verse 2.
We are looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross. You see Jesus endured trials too. He endured tribulations. He even endured disappointment when he was on the cross crying out to God our father. Why have you have you have you forsaken me? That was a moment of disappointment for Jesus. But he's the one that gives us. He gives us our faith and he finishes our faith, despising the shame it says of Jesus and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. So we can see that when we look away from all else and look toward and fix our gaze toward Jesus, that's what that Greek term that has to do with fixing our eyes on him means, then we are in the right place. And so the visions promise that they were studying in Daniel chapter 8 and verse 14, that promise was simple. Those who kept their eyes fixed on Jesus wherever he went, they were safe.
And this same Jesus is still ahead of us in 2026 and going into our year 2027, if the Lord spares life and delays his coming, he's still ahead of his people and he is still leading us into right relationship with him. He's still leading us into heavenly places. He is still leading us ultimately to where the Bible says that the meek will inherit the earth a thousand years after Jesus comes. Yes, we will inherit the new earth that God has prepared for us if we keep our eyes focused on him. And so the action step for in that regard is like the him writer penned really turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in his wonderful face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his glory and grace. So turn your eyes away from your fears today away from your trials away from your tribulations and fix them on Jesus who was leading the way to righteousness and ultimately into his presence.
And so this young woman Ellen that we've been talking about a couple of times over the last two weeks was a fearful 17 year old at some point and was laid hold of by God and sent as his messenger. You see God still calls the unlikely the young woman actually she actually quit she couldn't go back to school when she was a young little girl because someone threw a stone and and and impaired her health. It hit her in the face and impaired her health and God called her aside and then equipped her to do a special ministry where she had to trust and God and God alone. So say yes to God today when he's calling you to something trusting him that he will supply all of your need when you feel like you're unequipped. Make it a great day. Peace. Thanks for joining us listening friends. Always remember we cannot live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
