Will you please give us all that we need to see not only the prophets of old, not only
to see the prophets of old, but to see ourselves in this picture. And I'm asking you to please fill us with your Holy Spirit God in Jesus name. I pray. Amen. Amen. Again. Okay. So we are continuing in our thought process through those individuals that God has called in the past and we need to be asking ourselves, where does God see me in this whole scenario? Where does God see me? So I'm asking you to think about that because you see that we're talking about Daniel today, but that doesn't mean that we should be studying Daniel. That's not the focus. That's not the focus. The focus is since Daniel is being shown here as a model of someone who had the gift of prophecy, what in Daniel's life can we do to model that in our day?
What can we do to model that in our day? Okay. So I'm going to the Bible book of Daniel chapter one and verse eight, Bible book of Daniel chapter one and verse eight. And I'm asking you to run with me here, the Bible reads, but Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat nor with wine, which he drank. Okay. Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat nor with the wine that he drank. And so in a time when God was bringing his people into prominence, even though they were in captivity, interesting thing, the Bible says that they were to be prepared. There were a few of the men that were to be prepared to serve the king in a special way, but part of the preparation would have defiled, would have defiled Daniel and his
friends. And God is saying through Daniel's life that you don't need to do the evil that society has called you to do, but God, I am God is speaking to us, but God, God, I am, I am willing to do only what you want me to do in order to represent you in the earth. And that is what Daniel did. So he settled in his heart. He settled that matter before the test ever came. Can you imagine refusing the king? Can you imagine refusing to do what the king has called you to do in order to serve the God that is invisible? I know. It sounds like what are you even talking about? Yeah. Well, the truth is that people make this decision every single day. Sometimes people believe that there is more month than money and then do evil in order to get more money. Sometimes people believe that they don't have companionship when they have a spouse in their house with them, that God, that God has joined together with them and they choose
somebody outside the house for companionship. Are you seeing where this is going? Sometimes people are offered moments of prominence and choose to be prominent rather than to be elevated according to God's standard. And so we make these decisions every day, but Daniel settled that kind of thing in his heart long before the test ever existed. Faithfulness in the little things prepares you to stand when the great test arrives. Okay. So today I want you to decide, make a decision. I'm making the decision right now. Decide in advance today where you will stand on one point of obedience before the pressure to compromise even reaches you. Decide now. I'm talking about now seven minutes into our broadcast. Make the decision now. We talked about this a couple of days ago when we were looking at the story of Elijah really briefly. Let's go into our second lesson, go into our second lesson from Daniel chapter two, Daniel
chapter two and verse 47. We're really just taking high points from Daniel's story. We're not able to really cover Daniel in just, you know, I mean, like 10 minutes. So the Bible reads the king answered unto Daniel and said of a truth, it is that your God is a God of God's in the Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets. And so later on now the king that the cadnessor, he had a dream. He didn't know what he dreamt. He was disturbed. And then when he woke up in the morning among the people who were there, there were seers and magicians and all kind of other folks there. Daniel of course was among the people and the Bible says that the Lord gave Daniel the time to go away and pray with his three friends, Hennonaya, Mishayal, Azaraya, so that God could reveal himself and of course demonstrate really now we know the end of the story that he is the Lord of kings like he's the, he is the God of all gods.
And never cadnessor for that moment was convinced because nobody could reveal the dream and nobody could give the interpretation except God and God used Daniel to do so. And so he revealed he uncovered. He made known what was hidden through Daniel's faithful witness, a king who had no interest in the God of heaven, who in fact would have said at some points like, who is this God that's going to deliver you? Who is this God that well God introduced himself, but even the pagan king confessed the God of heaven as Lord of all your life and your steadiness can lead others to see who God really is in your life. And so what I want you to do is let your conduct point someone to God today. The Bible says let your light so shine before men that when they see your good works, they will glorify your father, which is in heaven. And so this is what God wants from all of us living in a way that makes his character visible
to everyone around you. So I'm going to read a quote. I'm going to read a quote from the book The Sanktified Life. This is when you definitely want to pick up the sanctified life. And it reads, the life of Daniel is an inspired illustration. Remember I said a little bit earlier. It's not just for us to look at these as like sort of biographical sketches, but an inspired illustration of what constitutes a sanctified character. It presents a lesson for all and especially for the young. A strict compliance with the requirements of God is beneficial to the health of the body and mind. Aren't you glad that God has shown us through Christ Jesus, of course, as the number one source, how we can live in a holy way in these last days, but along the lines, he's also shown
us that there were people who who were just like us who also chose to follow Jesus. Daniel, being one of them. Make it a great day. Peace. Thanks for joining us, listening friends. Always remember, we cannot live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. This has been your daily portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day.
