I'm going to be honest, I did not expect the Wolverine game to get pummeled on Reddit the way that it's getting just completely destroyed. We talked about yesterday, the lot of mainstream reviewers even were turning on this game. And now we've got people that have actually played the game, they beat in the game, and they're like, yeah, this game is awful. It's terrible. That's coming from players, right? From people who got an early access copy or whatever, we also have some pretty notable podcasters coming out and saying the game just fly out sucks.

Again, I would have expected the mainstream games press to carry more water for this game because it's insomniac, but it's apparently it's so bad that nobody can make excuses for it. So I, yeah, you know, why M. M. V. I don't know. I'm not going to buy it, but it's not looking too good. 2:19That's a pretty big reaction before launch. So I went out and found the post and it's not just this post. There are several including again some mainstream media outlets are like yeah this game is just absolutely terrible. So here you 100% it marvels Wolverine. He said this game sucks. The combat is shallow there's no room for creativity you Perry you stun you barrage you special attack over and over again. And you've variety and combat comes solely from the combat finishers granted there's a good amount of those but you have zero say in what finisher animation you'll even get it's totally random. The level design is incredibly linear. There's absolutely zero exploration which is finding character action hack and slash games but again the combat is not complex enough to warrant such linear levels devil may cry this is not. The only side content are nightmare doors these provide two kinds of challenges traversal and you guessed it more fucking shallow combat there's not even any traversal tools.

3:21No double jump no wall running no air dodging nothing the traversal challenges amount to holding the sprint button and just hitting jump is Wolverine magnetizes to the nearest zip line or ledge. The skill tree is incredibly basic I don't even know why it exists skills gradually unlock throughout the story and there were many times I had skill points to use but literally couldn't even spend them because I had already unlocked all available skills needed to wait to advance the story to unlock more skills. Wow then there's adaptations a tree where you can unlock an equip a set amount of pass of abilities I also don't have much to speak on that because they're so fucking pointless. I forgot their existence about halfway through the game all collectibles and hidden chest are you right in the face you can't miss them even if you tried yeah and if you do walk past them I'm sure you can smell your way to the the booty can smell your way to the booty I will say though the story was good. Now I thought the actors knocked their performances out of the park but nowhere close to being good enough to redeem this game. Ouch bottom line this is the first insomniac game I've been disappointed by and I'm old enough to remember playing Spyro on the PS1 I mean massive disappointment this game sucks.

And I think that's the way people that are like it's a good game I don't know what you're talking about it's time now yet so no way can say well where the other except for the people that play it right but I've seen some people trying to defend the the vapor trails the fart gas being like this is just the way games are now you just it's like yeah if you don't play games is way games are now for people who don't play games back in the day we loved a challenge you know I love getting 50 out because you spend 50 bucks in these games right even when I was a kid 50 bucks I'm like no I don't want to beat it right away I don't want to beat it right away because if I beat it right away then what did I spend 50 bucks on I could have just rented the game for a weekend and beat it and you know I'm saying so I don't know I see what else ignore reviews try it for yourself how exactly what I'm going to say how do I get a

They're like, you don't have a right to criticize the trailer until you pay to watch the movie. It's like, well, what's the point of a trailer then the point of a trailer is to get you excited to spend your money to go watch the fucking movie. Right? So if you can't give an opinion on that, what the actual fuck? Because that is the whole purpose. That is the purpose of the trailer is to get you excited. And if the trailer does not excite you, you know, they're in trouble, right? Ignore the reviews, try it for yourself. How exactly does the tripod work? There's no demo. There's no refund after trying. Am I really only allowed to have an opinion after spending 70 bucks? Yes. Yes, they have to part you from your money first. So apparently I can't have an opinion after trailers or gameplay reveals or even after reviews. This user says, you're not allowed to have an opinion after watching the game stream.

10:21How very convenient for the company is that the narrative here is that you either spend $70 or shut up. That is everything now. That's everything now. The companies don't want customers to fall for unjust hate brigades. Why not give us an option to try? Oh, right, because customer who made a bad purchase is more likely to cope with it and seek validation than to admit the mistake. That happens a lot. A lot of people are like, yeah, the movie's really good because I camped out for tickets and it's fantastic. It's the best thing ever guys really. It's really good. I dropped you know, a bunch of coin for a popcorn bucket when I'm bought T-shirts before the movie came out, whatever. Yeah. I mean, and people were legitimately excited for this game until more and more came out about this game because Spider-Man was at least the first one was pretty fucking fantastic. So why would they think Wolverine wouldn't be just as good? Well, it's current year. So, you know, during Somniac, this guy says, if you decide to give us a straightforward action game, at least give us in-depth combat with a big skill tree and combos.

11:22If you don't give us in-depth combat, at least give us very gameplay with multiple playable characters to switch things up. If you don't give us very gameplay, at least give us big, exploreable areas with secrets and puzzles. If you don't give us big, exploreable areas, at least give us side quests and optional bosses. The words you use worldwide, but to have okay and mediocre in front of me, I have to go mediocre. And so I have to give this game a 5.5. And that sucks because I feel like it's fall in Jeep country.

But it is the idea that it is not a bad game, but the definition of mediocre, of moderate or low quality value ability or performance. Like that's where we're at. Like I can't sit here and talk about any of the verticals of Wolverine, whether we're talking about stories, whether we're talking about performance, whether we're talking about characters and performance being actor performance by the way. I will get into all that when we get going and I don't mean specific. So people keep saying that the acting is good, right?

14:27But I mean, this is not, this is not sounding very good. Just all the way around and he sounds like he feels bad giving out a review like this, but it's like if the game is mediocre, it's, I love, I love this. So five is mediocre, four is math, three is bad, a two is awful and one is gallium. One is gallium guys. Fili Logan, but again, we'll get in all that. Okay. Game play, game play loop. None of that is like, well, there's the shining thing. There's the thing that I truly enjoyed that rises, it brings the whole tide up and rises, raises all boats. I just don't have that with this game. Like it's a disappointment across the board. It turns up. Man, I was never excited to sit down and play it. You know what I mean? I was never like, oh, fucking nails on a chalkboard. Were there other review codes in this September, just like there's other games for you to go spend $70 on. But I think do things like that this game tries you way better? Yeah, of course, but I was never like, oh, God, nor was I ever playing it me like, this is cheap.

15:28This is bullshit. This is whatever it was like, cool. I'm fighting through this room full of bad guys again, with the same moves and the same moves that again, to get to the next cut scene in a story I already find disappointing and don't think it's going anywhere interesting and shockingly I don't think it did. Oh, oh, that's not good. So yeah, guys, I can't wait for Tuesday. I think Tuesday's going to be fantastic. If you're a content creator that covers games and once people play this thing for real, Tuesday's going to be wild. Actually, kind of half tempted to buy it. But you know what? I've got better things to spend my $70 on and better things to spend. What do they say? 12 to 14 hours of gameplay? Yeah, 12 to 14 hours of gameplay is $70 game. We have better things to do with my life right now. But it's not going well for them. And again, this is on top of Sony having a disastrous month. Anyway, gamers just don't trust them.

16:29They're not going to trust them. And this, I agree with what that guy was saying. This might be the official end of AAA gaming as we've known it. Because here's a game that's over $300 million. And it's probably going to fall flat on its face because the Wolverine brand isn't strong enough to overcome the obvious shortcomings of this game. So this thing's going to go on sale real quick. Pick it up for like 20 bucks maybe. But you know what's good for 20 bucks? That Robocop game from a couple of years ago. That was good. That was a good way to spend your $20.
