It's another edition of end of the line where we will throw out various scenarios and then the show will have to decide is it the end of the line for that particular person or thing or not. Starting with this. So it looks like Carson Wentz is going to play against the bears on Sunday the bears. And you know Bryce Young just through for like 361 had a big game bears defense has been a sieve now for the last couple of years. If Carson Wentz plays well on Sunday. Is it the end of the line for Kyler Murray as the starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. If you play well on Sunday. No, but I think it's the end of the line for Carson Wentz starting the Tampa Bay game.

5:18And that could lead us. So could I specify further than if Kyler is deemed cleared from concussion protocol after week two going into week three and he is now healthy and available to play. Would he then be a healthy QB two behind Carson Wentz if Carson Wentz plays well against the bears. You know, that is a. I think yeah, yeah, I was going to say I think it is the end of the line for him on a week to week basis as long as Carson Wentz plays well. Yes, I do. I do. And it's funny, you know, Dex sent us a great breakdown from Warren Sharp about the first and second half on Sunday and about the difference in personal use and play calls and blah, blah, blah. And I sent both of you a you know back because Sharp's point is half time adjustments, you know, for those who say and that's a debate. But what I saw was a different quarterback. And so you because because you I don't think you're going to abandon everything when the

6:18quarterback went when Wentz replaces Kyler, right? Because your plan is your plan. But then at half time, you're like, okay, what suits Carson best? And it's not necessarily stuff, you know, pistol formation with Carson Wentz goes away. So I think if Carson Wentz continues to play well, yes, I think it is the end of the line for Kyler Murray starting in week three against Tampa, even if he is cleared, which I don't know that they would tell you then. But yes, I do think that it is. Yeah, if Carson plays well, assuming he plays well against Chicago. And I think even like Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano to the end at ESPN.com even said like, oh, the first initial, you know, seeing of Kyler in the building on Tuesday was a good sign. And we'll see what happens. But I think obviously Carson will still start on Sunday against Chicago. And if they win and Carson plays really well, I don't see how you take him out of the line up and then not play him in week three in Tampa Bay. So I'm going to the line for Kyler.

7:21Yeah, I, well, you know, if Carson plays long, long term, you know, there's, I think all three of these dudes are going to start a game. Like if you had to ask me, is it more likely that Carson when starts every game or all three quarterbacks start a game at least, I would say we're not done with the J.J. McCarthy era at some point this season, just based on injury histories and whatnot. But I think if he plays well against Chicago, especially if they win zero chance, he doesn't start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And then is he one blue screen of death game away from them just putting Kyler back in? Like no matter what, you've created a situation where both Kyler and Carson have extremely short leashes within this offense, right? Because if, if, if you were to put Kyler back in and he looks awful for a gamer to, you be thinking, well, Carson Wentz isn't Joe Burrow, but like he can operate this thing and

8:24he can throw for some yards and, you know, he can, he's got chemistry with Justin Jefferson. So I, I, I kind of do think it's, I kind of do think it's the end of the line for Kyler in the short term. Yep. Like I think he's going to be a healthy, not scratch, but like a healthy QB2 in week three. He will be a healthy backup if Carson Wentz plays well against Chicago. Oh man, let the controversy begin. The national, the national people will love this. Another thing here, Adrian tweets into Mackie and Judd. One Carson Wentz note that I haven't heard addressed on Purple Daily or anywhere else is how effective he was at inducing jumps and his hard count. It paved the way for the first touchdown and bought free yards several times after that. And it also feels like maybe there's a lack of chemistry with Kyler's snap count. Just with some of the jumps and you know, one point you had Blake Brandell like, well, leaning backwards and trying to fall over. I don't know. It's hard to know because we, you can't hear everything.

9:25We're not down there. But, you know, he's, they've gotten used to his snap count. Blake Brandell, I think snap to him in the regular season last year for at least a period, right? Yeah. Well, I mean, Carson's got the smarts. So, so like that's not a surprise, but yeah, I could, I don't see O'Connell bandening wands if Wands is doing exactly what O'Connell wants and, and they're playing well. And that doesn't mean that O'Connell goes back to his 2025 for the most part game plan. You can still use the run game. You can still use a ton of things, but it's not like Kyler is this for sure certain thing. Yeah. So, okay. All right. I agree. End of the line. Let's go to the next one. So, many Hughes continues to play hardball with the Minnesota wild and maybe a little vice versa. I don't see. Mostly Quinn Hughes being in decisive. He is not signed an extension and the Minnesota wilder, the wilder are headed to camp.

10:33Also, I believe their first game is in two weeks like regular season game. Well, they play a preseason game Saturday. They start camp on Thursday. So is this the end of the line for Quinn Hughes long term with the Minnesota wild with no extension or reach going into the last season of his contract? No. I think he gets a three year extension before the season starts or shortly after it starts. I don't think he does a long term. I think this is the end of the line for a long term extension. Now, the ability to do an eight year contract went out the window at midnight on this morning because the new CBA kicked in and that means the maximum that he can sign with the wild is for seven years. I think he does three years, but as much as people are well, in New Jersey, they're trying to celebrate because the claim is he's going to go play with his brother Jack. Here there is definitely some nervous fans. I think it's a three year contract and I do not think it is the end of the line for Quinn Hughes.

11:33Although that is a huge conversation among the national folks in this league. Do you think it's the in terms of the length of the contract? Three years though is the end of the line of the term of the amount that they would commit to him or that Quinn would want to commit to Minnesota? I think so. Yeah. I think he's going to sink his contract. Well, three years is really four. He's got a year left. So if he signs for three, it syncs up with Jack Hughes contract, which has four years left with the devils. And I think that they might both look to play together elsewhere. It might be here. I don't think they want to play in Jersey. And quite frankly, by that time in their life, I think they either go play for Detroit, which is his folks, the family lives about half hour out of downtown Detroit, or they go play in a tax free state together. So yeah, to what extent does this whole contractual saga reflect on Quinn Hughes not wanting

12:35to be here? Is I get not wanting to commit eight years? Correct. Do you think he doesn't want to be here beyond this year? No, I think he wants to be here. And he's like going to begrudgingly sign a three year extension. No, I don't think he's begrudgingly as he's still like us. He loves us. I think he loves us. I think he loves the team. I think there's an off chance that I think there's an off chance he does five years. And then they pursue Jack Heavily after Jack's contract is up with a year with a year left and try it or when they both become free agents or they try to pursue Jack in a trade, Quinn I think likes us a lot. I will say this, if you want a human being who's impossible to get a read on, it's Quinn Hughes. I got no idea what's going through that. There's a lot going on in that brain and I got no clue what it is. Is there a lot going on or there's not that much going on? No, I think he's intelligent. I think he's very smart.

13:36But I also think he's smart enough to know that the bites of the apple as an unrestricted free agent are going to be few and far between. And he's like 26 now. So he's not a kid in hockey terms. But I think he wants to be here and I think he does a three year contract. That's what I think. Yeah, it always, you can never tell like because in Billy Garen said as much as he felt comfortable with on Jotaki show and. Yeah, and yesterday he runs, but. Get a press conference too. And he just keeps saying, don't panic and things like that. It's open for interpretation. It really is. I'm not panicking. Who's panicking? You're panicking? Tell. I can wipe my brow down. But Quinn Hughes, the one thing I'll say in his defense of this entire thing is Quinn Hughes told the conucks pretty quickly. I'm not going to sign. You might want to trade me. He is not told Bill. He loves Bill and quite frankly, Bill also put Jack on the Olympic team with Quinn. And so I think they're just calculated smart kids.

14:39Yeah. Yeah, because if if you're Bill, you have to kind of know you and I'm sure these are their discussions like, hey, this is where we're this is our offer. This is where we're willing to go. If you're out, I need to know that because we need to get some value for you. We don't want to trade. We want you to be here throughout your prime years. But yeah, you know, and hopefully the player is also on board with making a decision here. Like Quinn needs to make a decision. If you, I guess, all right, what if I rephrase this? If there is no extension when the puck drops for the season in two weeks, is it the end of the line for Quinn Hughes here long term? Because the two weeks leading up are still like, oh, totally fair game for a contract to get done. If they play a regular season game and they're still no good, it's a lot closer. It's a lot. I mean, it's not, no, I don't think so. I think if we get to November and he hasn't signed, hit the panic button. What if they get dude, what if they get to November?

15:39And they're awesome. But he's, he's just like, I don't want, I'm sorry, I don't want to play here beyond one more year. Then you have to just ride the season because you're good and yeah, and get nothing for him. Well, and that's why I don't think that will happen. But yes, yes, theoretically, best case worst, well, I mean, the best case for the team if he does not sign, but the worst case for the team long term is they're doing really, really well. So they don't want to trade him, but he's like, I'm not coming back. But I, again, I think he would have told him that. What did, uh, what did our great friend Jesse Pierce say to Bill when Carill signed and then, and then Bill responded, he bleep and better be like, he said, are you happy or something? Yeah, I think it was Jesse that had the hot mic on and, and Bill with a full on F bomb, he better be. Anyway, I would love to hear what would Jesse would say at that press got to, she would have to figure out a way to like top that, that moment, that great viral moment of he bleep and better be.

16:40Yeah, you're exactly right. Our guy Walker Jenkins has now played 15 games, 53 played appearances as a 21-year-old and the major leagues. He's got four hits, four hits and 53 played appearance. He has drawn six walks. He does have a home run off a position player, so three hits.

18:44Yeah, three hits. That's fair. He's batting 089 with a two 12 on base percentage. I know what's early, but is it the, here's my the way I'll phrase this because the original way it was going to be, is it the end of the line for Walker, like, no, it's not like he's 20, but here's Hall of Frazen. Is it the end of the line for Walker Jenkins to be in the opening day lineup for 2027? That's a great question, Phil. Ding. No, it's not. It's not. This is a number one that the whole bucks and hip surgery thing is going to be interesting. I think that's happening in the next like 24 to 48 hours for bucks. So he'll undergo surgery for that and a big assumption here, assuming we play baseball on time for opening day in 2027. They claim he's going to be ready, but I mean, the guy in general, regardless of surgery timeline, the guy just naturally gets begged up. So that's one path. They do have to figure out how they fit all of these outfielders into their plans.

19:47The ones that have been at the big leagues, the ones that have either been in AAA. I mean, he man, Rodriguez has been an absolute stud in the week. He's been here. Another home run yesterday. He's playing and I think what I've been really impressed with and Shelton talked about this after Monday's game his ability and left field. I mean, playing left field is a little bit more of a daunting task than I think people feel that they don't give enough credit to at that ballpark. And after Harrison Bader, who only played here for four months, like it has been a journey of left fielders in the history of target field. Any manual has a chance here to potentially kind of stick there on the walker side, though. I don't think it's the end of the line, but it is an interesting spot for the twins to figure out if they're going to go into 2027 and they're basically banking on the Walker Jenkins, Eman, Rodriguez, Kaelin, Call Pepper, Corr to carry them. That's a big ask to pretty much put the pressure of the future of the organization of not

20:52just like on them because they're top prospects, but putting your chips in on all three of them carrying them to the division title. If we do get a new structure with free agency and baseball, when we'll see what that looks like, what are the players and what are the moves they make? Because I think it also would be far fetched just to assume that Kaelin, Call Pepper, Eman, Rodriguez, Walker, Jenkins are going to be five to six war players that are getting MVP votes. That'd be great. They need someone of those three to do that, by the way. But just to assume that those three guys will carry us and we're fine, I think is a dangerous road. But to answer your question, I don't think that this is the end of the line for Walker. Far from it. It's just the beginning. It's the beginning of a journey of baseball, which is often starts, you know what, in the case of E-Rod, it's gone great, but in the case of a ton of guys, they get off to bad starts. And I think it's valuable. I think it's a teachable situation. I think this is only the beginning of Walker Jenkins' path through the major leagues, which I predict will be very successful.

21:53And therefore, he will be in the opening day lineup. Whenever opening day is for the 2027, 2829 season. I'm not sure what it's going to be. But anyway, yeah, I don't fear this. I will, in fact, I think the twins did the right thing here with both guys getting them up here and seeing what they have and more importantly, allowing them to see what the big leagues is about. It is only the beginning of a baseball journey. I grew a job, but I would say right now, just based on the small sample size, is it going to be erad? Like if there's only one spot in the opening day line of E-Rotter Walker and maybe there's room for both of them when it's all said and done. E-Rotter being older and having played a lot more in the minor leagues, like just looks super comfortable up there. You know what's crazy about E-Rotter? I don't have it in front of me, but I'm pretty sure that dude has like a 425 career minor league on base percentage.

24:56Yeah, it's he's just he's an on base machine. He's patient. He's got power. Got to stay healthy. That's got to stay healthy. He's got to stay healthy. That's the biggest thing is healthy. It is weird. Almost it's not Adam Dunn extreme, but he's a very three true outcome hitter. Home runs, walks, right, outs in the minors. It's kind of crazy. So I do think you'll have to figure out a little bit of a balance there. Him being a little older though. And if he I mean, we talk about fluke injuries and I've been fluke just a barrage of injuries that so many twins players have had top prospects over the years going back from Bucston to Royce to even E-Rot. E-Manual tour, both UCL's in either thumb in both thumbs and back to back years. Like, toward and this right thumb last year, toward his left thumb the next year. Like, how? Dude, number one stop sliding in the first. I think we actually know how to answer that question. But like, how does that even happen? So I know Shelton's been really impressed with E-Manual and they were pretty much about

25:56to call him up in June was the word. And that's when he got hurt. Like literally that day they were going to call him up was the plan. And then he got hurt the same day through a wrench. And so he was supposed to be up here months ago. But I think his age and if I agree with Phil, push came the shove and there's a last spot at a spring training and both them are kind of playing at an even level. I would put the odds are the E-Manual to get that spot over Walker for 2027. Yeah. Yeah. So there's the end of the line. I do have one more random thing for you guys here on Mackie and Judd. The news just broke that according to Andrew Marshand from the athletic Joe Buck has agreed to a new contract with ABC ESPN Disney, whatever. It's a six year extension for $108 million. So Joe who's he's coming off of a five year 75 million dollar deal.

26:57So Joe Buck's annual salary as the lead play by play man from Monday and in football will go from $15 million to $18 million, which means Joe Buck starting next season will make more money than these NFL starting quarterbacks. Jacobi Berset for an and a Mendoza at some point will be a starting quarterback. Cam Ward, Kurt Cousins, Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Jayden Daniels, Drake May, CJ Stroud, and maybe some other ones that I'm missing here. So I guess my question to you guys is I know that the economics, you know, Joe Buck doesn't fall underneath the same salary cap as like Caleb Williams, but who's more likely to get you to watch a football game? Caleb Williams or Joe Buck? Caleb. Yeah. Caleb for sure. Isn't it crazy though? Like, I'm not, I'm not trying to pocket watch. Like good for him. He's a legend, but well, it's, it's kind of a question. And eight makes like 20 million.

27:58They're 40 million dollars. Joe Buck, McAfee, Steven A, we're about to have another round unfortunately of layoffs and Bristol. So fortunate. And eight minutes left to be late. Joe Buck called like a couple random baseball games for ESPN last year, but is Joe Buck essentially only doing like 19 games a year now? He's doing regular season plus. Well, he gets the Super Bowl, right? He gets Super Bowl this year and then again at the end of this contract. Yes, he's working fewer than 20 games a year across all sports, right? Yeah, I think he did. So I think he has done opening day in baseball for ESPN last couple of years, but he is out on baseball. I mean, if you guys remember in his heyday at Fox, when Fox got the US open, he was doing

29:59golf, he was doing baseball, he was doing football, like he was doing everything, which by the way is an archaic, archaic thing. But anyway, yes, he is now down to ESPN NFL and I think that's it. Which would mean he's making about a million dollars per game. Yeah. I mean, good gig. It's great gig. I mean, good for Joe. Good.
