We'll Cooper flag be a Dallas Maverick forever. Yes. We'll talk about all that and more. Coming up next in a DLSMAS podcast presented by the Guilty Law firm. Hey, what's up? It's the DLSMAS podcast presented by the Guilty Law firm. If you were someone you love, whatever five or so, say I just got hit call the official law sponsor of the Dallas Maverick to Guilty Law firm called 214 I got hit or visit I just got hit. dot com Kevin Gray, alongside our DLSMAS analyst Bobby Corrella. We are DLSMAS. Your favorite guys come your favorite team, especially when we only have a hand full of days before we get on a plane to Macau China. That's right. As your Maverick you're ready for not one, but two preseason games in China against the Houston Rockets. We are just days away from heading around the world almost to cover those games.

Shout out to all of you hanging out with us here on DLSMAS. We'll Cooper flag be a Dallas Maverick forever. He had some very interesting comments about where he wants to be and what he wants to do here. And Dallas, plus we will bring in our nationality inside our marks time a little bit later on in the show. Yes, Galca. And the wings do play tonight. Hopefully it's not the last game of the season for them as they play as they play at home. Against the gold estate, Valkyries is they look to stay off elimination. And the first round of the WNBA postseason, some of the links couldn't do last night. Yikes. Right now though, we go out to Maverick's training camp live and we bring in our DLSMAS beat rider. He knows sports. He is of course. Ron Harajun, your mom was going home. Hey, what's up everybody? How are you? Are you okay? That was real Kirk. Just I just said, what's up everybody? I thought, you know, might be a question or something following up or something. I'm going to take up two-inch time. I don't want to make sure I respect everyone on here.

No, that's nice of you. That's nice. Well, how are you today? I appreciate that. Yeah, I'm doing great. You know, it's a nice hat outside. Still pretty hot. But overall felt cool. Didn't really see the sun driving in. So I was like, okay, this is a little different. It's supposed to be flood warning I think I got. Was the text. So you have a ring. Hopefully everybody's home. No, I do not have a ring. I do have an umbrella though. Okay. Well, it's all right. I'm just half the battle. Good job. What are we looking for today? As the matter we said, get back on the practice store for the media to see that is. Yeah, so Cooper Flag is supposed to speak to the media for I guess like the first time like in, you know, since media day essentially. Also PJ Washings is supposed to speak. And I'm not sure if those two players are still going to, but that's the projection right now. We're projecting who's been to talk. If supposed to be Cooper Flag in PJ Washing. I'm interested to see that. What kind of what Cooper Flag has to say. You know, somebody post, I think like his weight gain.

I think he talked about that in strength clearly. Not like in anything else. But thinking of my 205 to like, 225 or something like that. Yeah, I just didn't want to be clipped the wrong way. So. I really. I really. He's gained muscle. Now to be fair, I think he gained a lot of that muscle. Like he was getting it along last season. But you know, you don't, you're not getting like, you know, weighed in, you know, mid-year, right? At least, at least not, you know, updated on the website. So, you know, just to ask about that kind of, you know, some of his journey throughout the off season, the weapons that he wanted to work on, things he wanted to add. And of course, just, you know, PJ Washing. You know, what is he see his role being this season? You know, as he's been playing with the start units, he can become off the bench. Now, what is kind of his his role been in the, you know, in early parts of training camp? Yeah, reportedly, or allegedly, Cooper Flack has gone from 205 to 228, which would be a 23 pound gain from last year to this year. He's already said that he's grown an inch in height, going from six nine to six 10.

So if we're putting the two together, Cooper Flack, maybe six 10 to 28, going into this upcoming season. It's a big dude. He was already had an NBA body coming in. And if he's gone through the, the weight changes for the games, they did, they're someone did post a picture of him, PJ Riese Shea and lively all standing next to each other on media day. And Cooper was the shortest of the group. He looks shorter than Riese Shea. All right. I mean, he was significantly shorter than Riese Shea. And he was not any taller. I was like the angle or something. I don't know. I don't know. Maybe he wasn't standing totally prostrate, but something tells me six 10. I don't know. I don't know about that. I don't know. I don't really care, but I don't really know. You can't tell he's physically gained weight, though. You can, like, when we saw him walk into the media day last week, he's like, oh, yeah, he looks bigger. Yeah, he, yeah, face filled out, you know, you could tell in the arms, you know, he's getting a little bit bigger.

Like he's starting to fill out into his, which is scary because he's only 19. He might even be 20 until, you know, late December. So silver Jaguar says it was a Photoshop. Riese Shea wasn't in that picture. Oh, okay. Did I get balls out? No, look at you. You got caught up on the internet. Oh, no. Finally, Bobby got caught. Oh, man. And finally, I got caught up on the internet. We finally happened. Well, hang on. I'm gonna look at that. Let me get to you. Cool, cool, cool, that's like stronger to be fair. No one talked to me. He does look stronger. I, again, I guess I feel like Dusty May is like all these people look taller than me. It's like it's really hard to know if someone's growing taller because like there's so much bigger than five, nine, run a lot of juniors. So I can't really tell, but again, you can tell like if somebody's arms are bigger for their neck looks bigger, just if he just looks like stronger, like 20 pounds, no matter how much, you know, it's, it's pretty noticeable kind of, even no matter what kind of weight that you are. He just looks stronger than me. I think, you know, we'll see next season. I mean, again, did the article I said, like, you know,

Yannis grew. He also gained some muscle. Flag allegedly grew. He also allegedly gained some muscle. Coup Flag got to the rim. 70.9 times per 75 possessions and drives. You know, he drove to the rim. And I was at the rim, but his drive, 70.9 drives per 75 possessions. So I mean, I'm, I'm interested just to see kind of what does this all do from strength for a player that's a downhill player. I'm going to assume it's going to be one of the biggest, most helpful things to his game. You have to assume that. So I'm looking up that picture right now. And so I'm, I'm searching in our image database that we subscribe to for Coupre Flag. And one of the most recent Coupre Flag pictures is of the guy that did the stream where he pulled the one of one Coup card. Uh-huh. And this guy's name is Christopher Card. Like his last name is just Card. He was born to do this. Oh, wow. He's a child of the game. Chris Card. I still can't find the picture though. Okay, he's still can't find the picture.

Okay, cool. All right, cool. It doesn't exist. Maybe it doesn't. Doesn't exist. Man, I just, I got straight up ball sack. I got hoodwinked and booze with lettuce. It happens all of us. Except for Tula happens to him all the time. It's every day. Oh, God. Every single day. Every single day. Clearing so the genius Twitter. I see him quote, tweet something. And I want to comment, hey, this is not real. But I'm like, you know what? He wants to do this. So I'm letting him rock. I had the text of one time. It's like dog like this. This whatever it was, like it wasn't real. I had to like, finally text. It was like dog. It's not real. Like you can't keep comment. Know everything that you see. Otherwise, you can get your stuff caught up. And yeah, these posts are not going to fire off themselves, man. Okay, someone's got to do it. But he also got to understand, you know, what's real and what's not real? And sometimes he's a reporter. He's supposed to know these things. That's the part too. The side of the man. Yeah, yeah, don't get caught up. Don't get caught up. What else are you looking forward to to seeing today? Obviously a couple days ago, you know,

discussed who said what's up to you? Interrupted the live show. Who said that? I think that was a, is this stuff come? I think that was stuff come. I don't have my glasses on. It would take me like, I would have to like, really look up and like, I love that even. You can't recognize those. That's your glasses. Ron is just like so many people say, I had to meet. Yeah, like, oh my gosh. Oh my gosh, I've been to 25. It's 45 times. It's so popular and recognized. Why do I am blind? I had to get, you know, Y'all think Y'all said they said he had to get nerfed some way. The free throws, they nerfed guys on the free throws. They nerfed my eyes and they nerfed my back. And these are the two things that they just come into play sometimes. So I took them in the last office. They were showing a glare. And I want to respect the viewers because they deserve quality images. But it did sacrifice my ability to see at a high level. She hid in the chat with the $2 super chat. Quote, Ron knows statements. Quote.

Yes. Yes. Thank you, she hid for your contribution. I sincerely appreciate that. Thank you so much. Anything else that's on your radar today? Folks were asking about Marez Johnson, Jr., who Dusty May said is working back. We don't know what he's working back from. Anything else that's on your radar today? Yeah, I mean, people were, I posted the tweet. You're just like, Marez, you need to get jumper, like working his way back. And people were like, dooming on that post. Like, it was bad. Like, I was kind of shocked. Like, I knew the, the lively one, I wasn't as surprised about. Mass-fast going to PTSD about Derek Lava, the second is understandable. This is fan favorite. Everyone loves them. People just want to see him on the court. It makes sense. But for Marez, like, while it's surprising that he's not a full participant, I would say probably to some Mavs fans at the end of the day, like, in the tweet, he's, like, he's moving around currently. He's not like on the sideline jogging, like, lively. Like, he's been able to do stuff. They're just like, why would we push you to go 100% in practice? Like, how about we do that in like, real games?

And I think that's actually like a sign of like, good coaching, good, good health department. Like, the team doctors clearly are doing the right thing. If he's, you know, he missed was the last three games with the calf injury. I think it was the right camera. If it was right or left calf, the left calf is something like that. If he's still, yeah. If he's still having just like anything reminiscent of the injury, like, why would you push him hard in practice? And like, what if he reagivates it? And then the fans will be mad, well, why would you plan in practice? No, he had the injury. So it's like, the Mavs were in like a lose-lose. We're like, if they hold him out, people are like, well, why is he still out? If they plan, he gets hurt again. It's like, well, they look, this is the same old Mavs. The team doctors aren't doing the job. So it's like, I don't know what people want in this case. Yeah, I think this is a good time for precaution. Like, there's nothing urgent happening right now to have these guys overextending themselves, at this point of training camp and into the preseason. I mean, we've seen examples already, and Charlotte, how they are slow playing the returns of, you know, Conniple and Grant Williams,

who are both doing the hamstring injuries. They're going to take their time coming back, which that's fine right now. None of these games mean anything from a standing standpoint. And it's all about October 21st anyway. So, as long as these guys are getting closer to being healthy, who can play by the time it gets October 21st, I mean, that's all that matters at this particular point. So it is what it is. Anything else before we let you go? Yeah, so I mean, you know, besides saying, you know, Morais and Derek Alive, like if we, you know, get a chance to see them do anything today, I mean, just every day, I'm like going in there, I'm saying, okay, where is Tark, where is Risa Shay, John Policki is mass-crystery. They're all normally shooting, like with each other in like, Jarels. Like, I don't know, I asked Max Christie, he think he was the best hero on the team. It was kind of a joke. This is see like with Max Christie, actually answer the question over, be funny about it. He says they're all good shooters, is what he, is what his answer was. But like while that was a joke, they actually like all have looked really good, you say shooting in practice. Like all NBA players can like make jump shots in practice. But like, I'm not posting no clips of like,

center in the NBA knocking down eight threes in a row. If I really wanted to sit there and like find a clip in like, of Tark making six threes in a row, I could. Cause like, he's doing that like consistently in practice. Like, I just watched there, me, Isaac Harris, Nick Enks, whoever the, any of the reporters or podcasts or contacreates, whoever is there. We're just like, oh, well, that guy can shoot the basketball. Well, John Polakidius, he can shoot the basketball. Reese's Jay, like, comfortable shooting the basketball. Like last year, they just wasn't the case on this team. Like, there were certain players that might get hot here and there. But like every time you look over, they are they knocking down multiple threes, coming off strings running with people running towards them. That was not the case last year, everybody. That's why this team was not a good shooting team. Again, as I've said, I know they're going to be like, top 10 or anything in any shooting category. But like, hopefully they at least won't be, hopefully they won't be bottom five this year as they were last season. So he says send the video. Send the video today. I'm very, very proud. Yeah, like let the people see what's going on. Okay, don't bury me. We'll see what I can get. Okay.

Well, we'll let you get to it. We appreciate you and your efforts reporting live from a map training camp. Look forward to seeing what you come up with today. And I'm sure we'll be discussing it tomorrow when we talk to you on the show again. Cool. I saw the other tomorrow. All right, Ron. There you go. This is our deal. Who are you purchasing stock in this upcoming season as a matter of risk you're ready to get on the floor the first time in a long time it feels like when they get ready to take on the rockets in Macau on October 9th and 11th as a reminder your boys and Ron Antanner will be in Macau China next week. Broadcasting live from Macau. We'll get to the angel a little bit later on, a lone star. We haven't forgotten. But there's a lot of guys that are new on this team. Some familiar faces back with this team. The question is not Ron, that's about oh my gosh. If I gave you $100, $100 right now, who are you buying stock in this upcoming season? All right, so I'm trying to get rich, baby. All right. Okay. But here's the deal.

All right. So you always want to, this is not financial advice. Let's try it. You always want to diversify your portfolio. Any knucklehead could wander into the podcast studio within the beautiful DLS sports studio in kind of cloudy victory park. And tell us, just put it all on Coupe. Coupe is going to be great. And we're like, well, yeah, he is, but it's pretty good investment. You know, like, what if something bad happens? Okay. You got to keep yourself covered. And also, I think that you stand to make more fake money by investing in some other guys on the team too. You want to. Coupe or flag is like the magnificent seven stocks. All right. They're generally going to go up. They might have a couple bad days. They're going to go up. You put a lot of money in. You're good. I'm putting like half of my money into Coupe or flag. Oh, wow. All right. All right. If I got a hundred Mavs bucks, I'm putting 50 in Coupe. Okay. All right. But here's where I'm going to try and work a little bit on the margins

and make some some real cash. Okay. Okay. Max Chrissy, he gave an interview with our arch rivals over at the Lockdown Mavs podcast. Go over there and leave five dislikes. See. All right. On their most recent videos. He did sit down with them on media day. And I think it was Isaac who asked him, um, you know, what's something that you, you want to get better at this year or something. You struggled at last year or whatever. Whatever the question was like, what is going to be better about your game this year than it was previously? And he talked about defense, not shooting. He said last year he felt like he took a step back defending at the point of attack compared to his time in LA. And to that, I would say, okay, contextually it makes sense because he was playing more minutes, um, you know, the different style of team defense and all of the, there's a lot of different factors. But the fact that Max is focused on that side of the floor and seems willing to embrace that role. And I think physically he might not be quick enough to defend like the quickest players,

the fastest guys, but he does have the length to bother at least some of those dudes and the strength to deal with some of the bigger guards. So if Max can make that his thing and then just shoot threes and kind of, you know, maybe instead of playing 35 minutes, he's playing 26 minutes and he can just go all in all the time. I'm really bullish on Max Christie to the point where I will, I will put 20 maps bucks into Max Christie this year. So you've gotten 70 tied up in two players. You only have 30 bucks left. I do. And if Koop is one of these like, you know, these, these grade A grade S tier stocks, Max Christie is like, uh, okay, so in in 2019 or 2020, one of my buddies who's just really, he knows more about computers than I know more about basketball. Like it's like he's like a complete dork. You know, he's great, but he's a giant nerd. I hope your friends not watching this show. I hope he is. And he was like, dude, you've, I told him I'm starting to like, invest, you know, I kind of want to buy some stocks. You have any good ideas or whatever. Like any companies that are up and coming, I want to get rich.

And he said, well, there's this company called AMD. It's really, it's, it's on the, on the up and up or there. They're up and coming. They make these chips that are really good. GPU stuff. I don't know. A bunch of words I didn't understand. I was like, yeah, sure. So I bought like a few shares and it went up 10 bucks. And I was like, I'm a genius. I'm a cash out. Well, uh, AMD now is like worth more than $600 a share. Oh wow. At the time I bought it was like $60 a share. So, you know, uh, you don't want to cash out too early. I think Max has the potential. Maybe not to moonshot like that, but Max has massive upside. And I think you can get in not totally on the ground, but you can get him pretty low. I'm Max Christie still right now. He's kind of just NBA role player. I think he could be bona fide starter by the end of the season. And that's a big leap. All right. By the way, do you still have that stock? Uh, unfortunately, I don't. I sold it. Oh, now I also, I bought plenty of it last year. When it was like under 200 and then I sold it at about 260. And I was like, I'm a genius. And now it's more than 600. So again, okay.

I don't take financial advice. Okay. All right. If you want to get rich, all right, unless it's with maps bucks. Number three. All right. There's four guys that I'm going to put my money in. Number eight. Oh, hold on. You got 70 bucks. You spent 70 on Cooper and Max. Yep. You got 30 bucks left. Yep. You're going to have to spend the other 30 on two players. Two. Okay. Two point. I'm diversifying, but not that much. Okay. All right. I'm putting 20 maps bucks into Kyrie Irving. Now, the upside is obviously undeniable. Sure. All in B.A. Calibre guard. Single handedly could turn the maps from a 26 win team that lost a ton of games last year by three points, four points, six points. Into a 500 team or even better. Simply by virtue of being good in the fourth quarter. Simply by virtue of being able to shoot the ball. Simply because he's able to dribble. Like, these are very fundamental things. And Kyrie is very good. He puts the fun in fundamental. Yeah.

But like any, seasoned crypto investor knows you live in constant fear of getting rug pulled. Now, I don't think Kyrie is going to rug pull us. But I think the maps, if they don't have a very good record, in February could decide, you know what? We got to think about tomorrow. Boys, it's no longer about today. Mm-hmm. And so that's why I'm only putting 20 maps bucks into Kyrie because I think that 20 could triple. Quadruple even. But I also think on February, whatever it could be worth zero dollars. Okay. So that's why I'm only putting 20 in Kyrie. I'm protecting myself here. All right. So you got 10 bucks left. My last 10 maps bucks, I'm thinking long term baby. I am buying an ETF. All right. I don't know what that stands for. But an ETF is like a group of stocks. And my ETF is going to be on the maps rookies. Specifically, Morez Johnson Jr.

And Sergio de la rea, I do not believe those guys at the end of the year. And I love Morez. But I do not think that at the end of their rookie seasons, people around the country are going to be like, yeah, those guys, they're awesome. I think they might be like, yeah, Morez showed some flashes, but didn't play a lot. And Larry barely even got on the floor for the maps. He spent most of the season in the G league. And when he did get in the game, he was kind of so so or whatever. Like, I think this is a slow burn. But I think that by the end of year two for Morez, and hopefully by the end of year three, or certainly by the end of year four for Larry, they're like, oh, yeah, these guys are obviously NBA players. They're very good. You know, Morez could be a starting big man in the NBA. I don't think it'll be this year. Maybe it is. If it is, I'm getting super rich. Yeah. But what I'm doing right now is getting on the ground floor, folks, I'm getting in early. I'm buying the stuff. I'm going to let it mature. This is my long hold. I'm not going to panic sell. I'm not going to do anything other than just buy more as I get more maps.

Books. All right. Kyrie gets traded. I'm taking those 20 bucks, putting it right into the maps rookie ETF. That is what I'm doing. I'm loading up on Coupe because I think he's a going to be in safe bet in VP candidate. Very soon. Yes. Only up from here. I'm putting someone max putting someone Kyrie putting the rest on the young guys. That's what I'm doing. Shout out to Shihee with $2 super chat. Bobby Crella sports hoarder. That's exactly right. Okay. That's exactly right. Linesa. I haven't seen my flooring years. Oh, geez, man. You got to clean up before we go to Macau. Linesa with a dollar 99 super chat. Bobby hears two more bucks, which two way is it going to the maps rookie ETF? So I guess that would mean Toby Lawal. He's part of the ETF. Throw it in there. That's where you two bucks is going. Yes. Well, to the rookie ETF. Yeah. Because Toby Lawal's part of that. He is. He's part of that. Seven, not part of that because he's not with the team yet.

No, he's not. Can't buy seven stocks. He's not listed on the Dallas Maverick stock exchange. No, he is not. Not yet. Shout out to you getting contributions from the chat to help you out a little bit there. Thank you. Thank you. I'm something of a I'm something of a stock magnate. You know, no made off. No Ponzi here. I will promise you your money back plus eight percent. All about sports zone has educated us on what an ETF is. Exchanged traded fund. Yes, he told I knew that. I knew that. You knew that. Yeah, you know what you're doing. I'll cut it. Shout out to trails and chats as a bonzi. Shout out Ponzi Wells former Mavs nemesis. Nearly a key contributor to a O3 comeback authored by the Blazers against the Mavs in 2003. But Durk had other plans in game seven folks and we sent Ponzi Wells home sad. Yeah, Mavs Ricky ETF. I'm telling you by stock now do not sell it old, old, old diamond hands.

Okay. Well, I'll go, I guess I'll just for the sake of different numbers. 55 with Cooper. I'm putting a majority of my, you know, 100 bucks into Cooper flag because I think that's a safe pick, a safe whatever. About as safe as it gets me. Yeah, why not? He's going to be next 10, 15 years perennial all star, perennial all NBA player. Hopefully multi-time MVP. As far as it might never go up, his rookie card just sold for $8 million. It's tough to get better than that. But, you know, it's never going to go down. It's never going to go down, which might only go up 5%, but hey, you're never going to walk away with zero. Yeah, which is a good return of investment for me. I'll take that. So I got 55, so I got 45 left. I'll put 25 in Kyrie Irving. So that gets me to 80 Kyrie Irving again. If he's back to the 24, 25 season form that we saw for him, where he was agile and what, 25, 5 and 5 basically, the one 50, 40, 90. Yeah, he's going to put himself in position

where he's going to be among the best in the NBA once again. And hopefully that's translate as Bobby mentioned in the wins. Because if you've got a budding superstar in Cooper flag, a all NBA all star type of talent in Kyrie, if he getting back to that form, hopefully that should translate into wins, which is why the whole idea of them winning, between 34 and 35 games just felt a little low because you got two really good players on this team. Two of the best. You so we'll see. So that I got me, I got $20 left. You know, I'm going to put the other 20 at PJ Washington. No, oh, I'll put 10 for PJ Washington. The other 10, I'm going to go, you know what? I'm going to go with Najimarshall. Oh, I'll go with Najimarshall. Earning himself a contract extension this year. He's going to be, I think, in a point forward type role coming off the bench for this group this year to spell some playmaking, you know, for Kyrie Irving and for others. So yeah, I think Najimarsh has a chance.

And hopefully he gets back to some of the defending that he was doing when he was in New Orleans that kind of made him or really attracted peace when he came here, you know, initial in that three year, you know, $27 million deal. And hopefully gets better from the three point line where he was under 30% from three this year. He's already lauded the work that he's done with Rod Ferdore, who's the shooting guru and coach here. And now he's coming over from the Miami Heat to help this team be a better shooting team this year. And if Najim can get into the mid 30s as a three point shooter while getting back to being some of the defender that he was in New Orleans, you got to self a pretty good player in Najimarshall. That will be a much better all around player, I think, for this team because they need more shooting. And Najim can definitely help out with that if he's in position. Yeah, it's another safe one. I mean, Najim, you know, the worst thing, the worst case scenario for Najim is that he's a pretty good player off the bench that's pretty good on offense and is just fine on defense. That's like the worst case. Yeah, that should be very safe player. Now, I guess like in a year or two that contract could become thorny, but it's only it's not a very long contract. Yeah, no, the range of outcomes is very, it's not,

it's hard for him to just be a colossal disappointment. Yeah, for sure. Now, I do want to say, if we'd have done this two years ago, and I did, not only did I put all of my Mavs bucks into Derek Lively, okay, but I also borrowed money and put that money into Derek Lively. He was going to just, I'm going to buy the world. You know, now I have people following me, okay, people send pictures of my home all the time. I'm here to tell you, I'm still holding. I still believe and I will pay all of you back very soon. That's a reminder of stocking too when it comes to the mattresses, upcoming season as they get ready for their couple of preseason games in Macau, shout out to Shaheed with another two-hour supertid. You can pay to something because you spend a lot of money today. Shaheed paid a Malik. Yeah, we appreciate you in your cost per se. $2 superchat Kevin paid a gray. That's right. Hey, we'll all be, we'll all be rich soon. All right, that's what these stocks we are going to cash. Now, never sell coupe.

Ever. That's a life long. Don't do that. All right, retire with Cooper Flag. Yeah, don't, don't sell Cooper Flag stock. Don't do that. Coming up here in just a moment, we're welcome to naturally be inside our Mark Stein. As we get to have a conversation with him, detailing some different things happen around the league. But most of the poor, the Cooper Flag, having a chance to not only reassure us about what kind of player he could be this upcoming season, but most of the poor, they're him wanting to do it here in Dallas. Of course, we talked to our guy Ron, her about June a little bit early on in the show. He is at Maverick's training camp practice, getting ready for their next practice before they get ready to travel as well. But for Cooper Flag, this is about a brand new season for him coming off a stellar rookie of the year campaign where he averaged 21 points for games, set numerous maps, rookie records last year. And when he spoke to serious XM, he detailed how much more ready he is this year than he was last year and what that means for his growth to subcombe season. Here's what Cooper had to say.

Yeah, I feel so much more ready. I think just not having as much of the unknown things, like last year I felt I was going in blind at a good amount of the time, like not really knowing much, especially at the start of the year. Not having been a lot of these experiences. So I think now just even having like, I've been to a lot of this, I've been to all the cities now. Know the arenas a little bit better. I have my routine. Just having stuff like that, it helps you to settle in and figure it out quicker. That is a big thing, man. Just like knowing where to go in an arena. I'm telling you like obviously playing NBA basketball is way tougher than getting around a building. Usually they're all kind of circular. But like when everywhere you go, every hotel, every place you go to eat, every arena, every training room, everything when everything is new to you, you are just so overwhelmed all the time. It takes forever to get comfortable in this situation. So I can echo what Koop said for sure. With that, we're bringing our national NBA in side. You can always download the Stein line at the Stein line.

He of course is our guy. Mark Stein, Mark Good afternoon. How are you? Gents, chat, Tanner. Hello. Hello, Mark. Mark is a guy that knows, well, he knows his way around now. But Mark, I'm sure as well traveled as you are the first time you go anywhere new, it's probably a little bit of a, whoa, throws you for a loop. Yeah, I mean, just I'm trying to think the only arena, I have not been in Sacramento's new building actually. Amazing one. One really? I think that is the only current NBA arena that I've not been in. It's great. I haven't been to Milwaukee's new one. Oh, I've been there many times and I love it. I haven't been to Utah arena. I've renovated, but I've been to Utah. I love the, love the deer district. Utah, I was last there when the maps beat them in the playoffs. I have not been back since. So what was that? 21, 22, yeah. That's going on five years.

Yeah, I don't, I don't travel like I used to. In this point, I, you know, I generally just go to a small handful of places. Frequent trips to LA to check on a certain Slovenian. Love going still still love going to San Antonio. That will always be that was one of the first road stops I ever made. When I started and just have always loved going to San Antonio. So I try to get there at least once a season to keep the nostalgia going. But I definitely like Phoenix. I mean, in the last years, I used to go to Phoenix so much. And I can't even remember the last time I was in the sun's building. It's been a long time. Very interesting. Well, one place Cooper Fly hopes to be for the rest of his life is here in Dallas. Speaking to WFA as part of Media Day, Cooper Flyg gave this close shout out to Dea Wall who conducted this interview with Cooper Flyg and Cooper discussing what the city of Dallas has been

like for him. Here's what he had to say. That's been amazing. You know, it's a beautiful city, credible people. There's not much I can play about. I wish it would cool down a little bit. It's been a very hot summer. That's my only complaint. And you know what? If that's what I can play about the place I live for my life, I have worse things to worry about. Pretty cool here. It's him saying that I want to pose this in this frame because, you know, Mark, you covered someone here in Dallas who spent the entirety of his career here. 21 seasons went through all the trials and tribulations to become an eventual champion. Finals MVP, League MVP, Hall of Famer. Of course, you know, I'm talking about Dirk Navisky is Cooper Flyg feeling like there's a feel like he wants to be on that same type of path that Dirk went down for 21 years here. I kind of feel like we should let chat answer this more than me because I don't want to speak for fans, but I can just say like he said stuff like this last season two and just my read

if I was in the audience hearing this. Like it just has to hearten maps fans after what the last few years have been like because he has under no requirements. Like he's he volunteered that. The question wasn't even about do you want to spend your whole career in Dallas? And you know, he brought it up himself with a quip about the heat, which I think we can all appreciate because we're all all all sick of the summer heat and how withering it was this summer. But look, I mean, Luke, Luke, I made it clear when he was a mav. This is where he wanted to be. I think we didn't even understand the full depths of that until it was too late. And to hear Cooper again, he Cooper has only been here a season and change and has seen nothing but chaos. GM changed 11 games into his career.

And he keeps, you know, he keeps saying that this is where he intends to be for the rest of his career and look, you know, it's the NBA. A lot of things happen. You know, I don't know that you could take anything to the bank, but it has to, I would imagine it feels great as a mav's fan to just hear him volunteer that again. The question was not, what is your long term view? You know, what is your long term outlook for playing in doubt? I mean, it was nothing about that. He brought it up himself. So yeah, I mean, it's and it's not just Cooper either, you know, like Kyrie the other day and Kyrie's been consistently to Kyrie loves being here. Naji Marshall loves being here. PJ Washington loves being here. And that one is notable because PJ was really, you know, throughout the absolute calamity of February and March 2025, you know, PJ was pretty outspoken against like in arena grievances, airing of grievances, right? He was like, you know,

he was kind of like, hey, please don't go. I'm trying to do my job. And so he was kind of bothered by that, but still wants to be here. Like Dwight Powell loves to be, all these guys, they posted pictures of every single one on media day. The Mavs did of like the little board, you know, it's your like your first day of school thing. And anyone that's been here longer than like two months, all those guys said they just love the food because I mean, who doesn't? But all of the guys that have been here for at least a season, all of them put their favorite thing is the people. Like their favorite thing about Dallas is the people, which hey, it's cool. And I can I can echo that. I mean, I don't know what it's like to be a multi-millionaire. I know for a fact that if you live in Dallas and you're you're like that, hey, it's great place to be. But you know, I've lived in the city for 10 years now or a little more than that. And it's incredible. I love living here. I really do love it's a great place to live for the most part. Long start Robin Chat. Yeah, Kyrie did say that at one point, the city at wish he was drafted here.

Do you remember him saying that at one point? Um, trail says, oh my god, he would have been in, it would have been a great situation for him in those days, man. Kyrie, I was like, draft here coming up as a pro in Dallas is it's just a it's a very, very good place to be. Uh, trail says definitely feels great to hear Cooper Flag say those types of things. I mean, Mark, you have your pulse on, you know, what's happening? Of course, around the NBA and you're not immune to hearing what you would you see in here, especially when it comes to the internet. I'm not saying anyone here in Dallas obviously because we love Cooper Flag. I wouldn't be there for the entire his career. Um, but I would imagine folks on the outside looking in who look at Dallas's situation, whether it be now for the short term or in somewhat of the medium term future here, think that's the most obvious boss and Celtic I've ever seen in my entire life, given the fact that he grew up in Maine, watched 86 Celtics tapes, you know, on VHS growing up as a kid. He's already done commercials with, you know, Larry Bird as well. Um, but I think it speaks to the connection he already has with this city that he's willing, even at 19, 20 years old to say,

like, no, I'm going to be here in this place where I want to be, you know, for the entirety of my, my career, especially, but given all the ties he already has and how much love he got when he went to Boston for the first time last year as a, uh, as a rookie. Yeah, look, it's still so early in his career that no one around though, I've never heard an executive with the other team, any other team say, yeah, you know, I hear, I hear such and such, they're plotting that they've already got their Cooper flag plan being prepared. Like it's, it's, you know, it's a way too early in the game for anyone to even think like that. But let's also not be naive. If the Mavs have another non-playoff season, like, you know, I'm sure there will be some, I'm sure there will be some questions at the end of the season for Cooper. Like, you know, how does this sit with you? You know, I mean, I, you know, again, that's one of my major curiosities this season. Like, just, I'm sure he thinks this is a, he thinks he's going to the playoffs in year two. I'm sure that's his

approach. How realistic is that? We don't know yet. There's still so many questions about this team. We've still seen so little of this group together. We haven't seen this group function in game conditions yet. We still haven't even seen Kyrie and Ku play one minute of full speed game condition basketball together. So there's a lot for us to find out. But again, that was just my, just just watching that and just hearing him lob that into the conversation when it wasn't even the subject was, you know, I would have, I would have been very heartened by that comment. If I'm a maps fan, just taking that in and watching the interview and, you know, he's talking about the heat of the summer. So yeah, one another thing you mentioned in the first clip too was like, he kind of knows what to expect. Not just in terms of like he now he has way less people to meet way less new experiences to experience, but also thinking in terms of definition of role.

Now, Dusty, Maison, new coach, besides, and everything is new around him. But I would, I would expect just by virtue of the lack of lingering questions on the roster, he probably has a better understanding of what's expected from him on the floor this year too. You know, last year was like, okay, is Kyrie going to play or not? You know, who is going to be the point guard? Well, I guess, it's November, I guess you're the point guard now. You know, AD was playing and then he wasn't, then he wasn't, then he wasn't lively was playing and then he wasn't, then he kind of was never going to play again and sort of okay. You know, but now there's, you know, Kyrie is going to be out there. You know, lively is not going to be out there, right? You can build your lineup accordingly, you know, and the new coach comes in and it's clearly defined role. You know, and there will be some experimentation certainly with like lineup combinations and things like that. Maybe Ku plays a little on the ball, a little off the ball or whatever, but you know, last year, and it's not like, you know, I'm not pinning this on Nico or Jake it. It's just last year, there were just a lot of question marks. It was unclear when Kyrie was going to play. It was

unclear for how long AD was going to be able to play without getting hurt. He got hurt in like the third game of the year, fourth game of the year. You know, and that through another wrench into, into everyone's best laid plan. So, you know, just simply having a more well-defined role and expectation, I think is going to go a long way to Tanner Cooper. I talked about some of that and the other portion of his interview with series X and about what his role was last year and what he learned from playing at points as point guard. Here's what he had today. Yeah, I didn't mind it. You know, my kind of outlook on things like that have always been that, you know, I'll do whatever a coach needs me to do. You know, I'll fit in anywhere and, you know, just trying to impact the game as much as I can. And I think obviously, you know, it taught me a lot as well. You know, there are short abilities in what it looks like to be a playmaker and, you know, being able to balance, being really aggressive, but also being able to, you know, set other people up at the same time and stuff like that. But it was tiring. I mean, I was exhausted trying to, I think the other thing too was, you know, teams were just having guys pick me up 94

the whole game. And so trying to force bring it up every time, you know, it was really tiring, but, you know, it taught me that ways to beat things like that, ways to, you know, affect the game and kind of manipulate the game pretty early on. Wait, and necessarily wasn't the plan going into the season. It was kind of, hey, I'm throwing you in the deep end. I mean, that, Jake, it was literally just like, what do I have no one else to play at point guard? Right. Like, I have no other options. Coop, it is you man, figure it out. You know, and that became basically the, the first two months of the season was what is 80s situation? Is Kyrie playing and what position is coop? You know, they're trying to figure all this stuff out at the same time. And so now if coop knows, hey, that is what is expected of me. Now I can spend all summer working on my handle and working on my passing and working on picking my spots and knowing what my spots are. Like all of that information is very good to have. See an all star in year two.

Maybe like, is that the, I mean, is that the over underlying? I mean, is it fair to expect him to be an all star in year two? So we, this was, I think we talked about it whenever he was in, he was on your sabbatical mark. I think we all expect him to have all star numbers, but whether or not he makes a team comes down to, you know, fan voting and guys getting hurt and all that stuff. But I would be extremely disappointed and shocked if he wasn't putting up all star numbers at least. Yeah. I think the all star numbers will be there in the first half of the year. I mean, if we're turning off injuries and everyone is equal and healthy, it'll be very hard for him to crack the Western conference, you know, all star, you know, yeah team success will be part of it for sure. But yeah, if they're, if he's putting up, you know, 24, 25 points tonight, six seven boards tonight, you know, five assists tonight and the team is, you know, five, six games above 500 by the time

we get to the all star break. Yeah. He'll be an all star for sure. This upcoming season. But yeah, the West is overly talented and he's going to be one of the best players, you know, in the league in the next, you know, a couple of these seasons. So yeah, it's going to be tough. But, um, you know, to Bobby's point, you know, him being forced into the point guard position was in large function because the guy that used to run basketball operations here signed the guy who turned out not to be anything at all. In fact, you know what he was a problem. Just not the right kind of problem that the Maverick thought he was going to be. Oh, wow. Um, because the angel Russell, not only did he recently get, you know, released, uh, in part of ways with the Memphis Grizzlies, uh, Marseille apparently the angel Russell has a new home going into this season. Yeah, look, it's been reported in China that he's going to the Shanghai sharks. I don't think we've seen it from his side yet, the ultimate confirmation of the announcement. But certainly that's what's been trumpeted in China

that he would go to play for Shanghai. So like when I checked out on this morning, checked on it this morning, like I said, I, to my, unless something's changed in the last half hour, I don't, I don't know that the players camp has come out and verified it, but it is definitely on the table being discussed and in China, they think it's happening. A year ago, this team signed him to be, I guess in Nicole's eyes, uh, the starting point guard for this team at the strong urging of Bobby Corella, they signed the angel Russell. That is not true. I know. I'm not going to let you joke about the strong urging. No, no, no, no, no, no, I will put myself on front street because I can handle, it's fine. Uh, when they were considering this at the time, like early, wrong in the summer, I looked around. I was like, I guess based off of what they want to do and some of the relationships that are in the, you know, the building, Russell makes the most sense is because of some of the

connects that were there, but I made no bones. I was like, I think this cat can't play. Like there's a reason why he was literally on the street and only one person looked around, and you know, what's going to be a good idea right here? Let's sign the angel Russell to be point guard for this group this season as a stopgap until Kyrie Irving, you know, there was maybe comes back. There was never any reason for it. Yeah, this is, this is, this is year three of me frequently sitting next to Bobby Corella on a set. And before that, we did one show together at a draft and the two things that I most remember in those years sitting next to Bobby A, of course, was our first show together on 97 one Mavs draft, his uncontainable enthusiasm at the selection of O Max prosper. And then the other thing I vividly remember is just the immediate dismay on the first show we discussed that Deantle Russell had emerged as the Mavs foremost target in free

agency. Was that last summer? That was last summer, Mark. It was just a few days before free agency. You put it in in one of the 10,000 newsletters he wrote in the month of June, man, you were you were filling up my inbox, you and Jake, but Jake earned that extension. But yeah, if we were, if we were doing stocks back then, KG, I would put the whole house on I would short the, the, the Russell move on. I remember to your, I remember to your credit, you were against it from minute one. I've from minute let negative one. Yeah. Um, there now I did. I'm not trying to scoreboard anybody. I'm not trying to be petty or whatever, but this morning after I saw that news, I looked back on the bird, did some searching just to see like what to remind myself of what I said at this time, because I say a lot of stuff. All right. Now don't remember it all. I found this tweet from a at CB a maps great follow on Twitter knows more about CBA than than any of us do combined. Um, and mark to your credit here. CB a map says on the DLS Mav show Bobby Krelat and Mark Stein both said they'd prefer Russell Westbrook over D'Angelo Russell,

specifically because he's a better current player. And then there was a poll. Who would you prefer? Russell Westbrook or D'Angelo Russell and out of 17 more than 1700 votes 66.5% of fans who voted presumably all Mav fans are at least mostly voted for D'Angelo Russell who last year played a few games and basically was benched. Now it's not like Russ was just a hall of fame or last year or anything, but he did play a lot for the Kings and um, you know, I mean that kind of sums up the the Mav's choices last year, which is why they shouldn't let it come to that in my opinion. But I do feel vindicated at least to a degree because Russ was better last year than DLo. And he was undoubtedly. Yeah. So Mark, you know, ball should have been Russ for sure. I don't know that he would have been willing to come to Dallas, but they definitely should have tried harder. Yeah, but I know the whole Chris Paul thing when this really happened, but yeah, Chris Paul Russell Westbrook somebody outside of the angel Russell. We always have those. I think honestly, if we go back in time, I think one of the factors was the belief in the front office at the time was that

the angel Russell Russell would mesh with a D better than any of those choices. And you know, at the time, yes, they had one the Cooper flag lottery, but you know, Anthony Davis was obviously still a centerpiece of this team. And they had just made the trade that everyone wishes they did not make in the trade that to this day, many of us still want undone, even though that is not possible. And so they were thinking of who can we bring in that meshes best with Anthony Davis and of those three names that we mentioned, it was management's belief that DeAngelo Russell was that guy. And it's, you know, it's not the when, you know, whenever you're like completely in the moment, right, and you're just thinking about, okay, right now, right here, right now today, the user of the circumstances, how do we get out of it? I understand why you would look at it and say, okay, well, Dilo is the best shooter of this group. He's the most realistic guy, maybe to sign of this group.

Pretty good upside familiarity with the team's best player, AD can fit in theory, at least with or without Kyrie, you know, can fit in theory with or without coop. You know, we can lean on him a bit and he's fine coming off the bench. If it comes to it or whatever, like, I understand all of that. But my big issue with the move at the time other than I just don't think he's a good player, which that was, you know, priority number one. But number two was, they shouldn't have let it get to that. You shouldn't think about today, you know, and what I really value about some of the steps that, you know, the new regime is taken as that. Whether some of these moves are good or not, we'll see in a few years, but like, there's a few years of runway to think about. Dilo was, how do we patch this leak in the dam right now for the next two months? Yep. Once we get there, the leak will be gone, you know, our new order. Yeah, our new order of the Billy Mays thing will just be able to slap a new one on and it'll be fine. You know, but like, why not just build a new dam?

You know, like, like, think about, think about the long term. Don't think about today. Think about tomorrow. Next week, next month, next year, you know, letting it get to, we need to sign a bad player as a stopgap for our really good player. Like, don't ever let it get to that point. You know, always have measures, countermeasures, backup plans in place and take steps to plant the seeds of trees that you will never get to sit in the shade of, I forget the expression. But I mean, think about, think about the future. Yeah, it just on discord how bad of an evaluator he was, like, I looking around the league and thinking, you know, it's going to solve my problem. That guy, and it blew up, you know, and everyone's face like we kind of thought it was going to we will always they'll have the, the D. Anzal Russell 30 point MVP game in a loss against Detroit pistols in Mexico City. We always had that game. He played great. That can honestly, he was really good. He was good. We'll always have the video of Nico saying he's going to be a problem. Drizzle. That was the thing was not only did he sign them. He was like, it wasn't like he was like, this is like the best option available.

So I like you would have said by yourself, you're going to be danger. Yeah, we're going to be dangerous. I mean, you want to hype up like, obviously, but yeah, but I mean, it's it is like part of what made Nico a very alluring GM is that he can talk to players like that. And they're not going to think it's cringe, you know, because like he has that kind of relationship with people. So like, I want my team to be able to be like, yeah, man, you're this is going to be awesome. Like I can't wait, you know, but you know, it. Obviously do it with better players of the below. Or unless you're the guy that you're being that you're trading for and the first thing he's like, huh? Yeah, I'm the anti Davis when he recounted. I'm still surprised how candid he was at recounting how that night wins with the trade, because he was like, what is going on here? I see that I see that the show alpha has found his mic today. Absolutely. Absolutely. But you know, you guys, you guys were talking about Kyrie there and that one like, I wanted to ask this in the Kyrie press conference didn't get the chance.

And I hope that there will be a chance in the future. Like I would love to ask Kyrie to go back to the spring and kind of reconstruct for us. What, you know, what was it like when he weighed? Should I come back this season for, you know, a small period or to sit out the whole season to take the path that he ended up choosing. Like I would love to know more about how he arrived at that decision. Because I kind of thought, you know, maybe he's going to come back for the last five to 10 games just to get just to get the rust off and get through it and testing so early. Uh oh, we got a stun bomb. Say something. No, it's it's the ecam issue. I was a gun. Oh, he's gone. All right, we'll see you soon, Mark. He's got three minutes. He was cooking too. He was ready. He was cooking. He was cooking. And then the thing we finally got him all revved up. I think ecam was like not today. Not today.

Damn. He'll be back. He'll be back. He'll be back. How do we stall for like 20 seconds? What's your favorite D.Lo memory? There you go. That was five seconds. What's my favorite D.Lo memory? Okay, I thought a one. All right. That's another five seconds. Well, I guess I just said it a second ago. You know, he went ham against Detroit in a loss against in the Mexico City. And the thing is like, oh, there he's back. He's back. He's back. He's back. The thing is like, you know, obviously we're kind of clonning on D.Lo right now. And again, part of it is because I just I just don't think he's very good. But like to me, the real anger, like I said before is like the fact that the circumstances around the event happening. Yes. It was a it was a very like it was it was a symbol of all of the things that were wrong with what was going on. Absolutely. More so than just. Yeah, he's kind of a lousy player. The maps have signed a lot of bad players. Like not every NBA, well, every NBA player is very good. But they've signed a lot of players who are not very good NBA players. Every team does. There's only so many, you know, but like that one just hurts.

KG Dusty apparently just said something about the starting five. Can you look up the tweet? I can't retrieve it. Oh, okay. Uh, sure. Yeah. Why not? Let's do that. Uh, Dusty May. Uh, Ron Harajunier at Ron No Sports tweets. Dusty man, the map starting five. Quote. I think with our team, it's going to be an ongoing thing. I can't see a setting in on settling in on starting five anytime soon. Mm hmm. Okay. Uh, Dusty may also gives an update on Marazzo Johnson Jr. saying, quote, uh, it's a lower leg soreness. We're just managing his workload. I think today he was in every other live session. Uh, okay. So a little bit more further detail when it comes to Marazzo Johnson Jr. And what he's working back from lower legs. Ornus, uh, he did deal with a left calf issue during summer league, uh, that kept him out of the final a few games after he had that great great game against the um, Golden State Warriors in his former Michigan teammate, Yaxel, Indybor. But uh, yeah. Can't see us settling in on a starting five anytime soon.

In quote, final with me. Yeah. Got like I was experiment with. Yeah. Yeah. You know, like, like we said before, I mean, there's two guys going to be the starting lab. That's for sure. Yeah. But you know, the three and even, uh, this was something that Nico Harrison himself said, you know, the year the Mavs won the finals, I think it was, uh, you know, let's see where we are around Christmas and figured out from there. You know, in through Christmas, that year, the Mavs were just kind of whatever. But then they had enough information to know what was working, what was wasn't and then what wasn't. And then you had a month to act before the deadline. They acted and it was great. You know, they built a title team or title contender team. So, um, you know, the first 20 30 games, new coach, new GM, new present B ball ups, a bunch of new players, new combo, new everything to expect them to have all the answers on night one is just it would be absurd. So yeah, take your time. Let's see what we got. Let's see what we got. We want all the answers. Not me. I love the questions. I love the journey is the destination, my friend.

And I think it's consistent with what this team from, you know, whether it's Kyrie and others to have talked about, like, look, we're building something here. What we building? We don't know yet. We're figuring it out, you know, as we go. So I guess that answer doesn't necessarily, um, surprise me because it's consistent with the message that we kind of, you know, heard from this group already on. What the season is going to look like, especially early on this year or so. We're going to be along for the ride. Just like, just like they are figuring out what the rest of the season is going to be anything else time before we let you go. No, just the answer I want is why when I get muted, I can't unmute myself, but that's a, I don't think that's, I don't think that's an answer. I'm ever going to get. Hey, Stein, if you had 100 Mavs bucks to invest in players in the form of stocks for this season, what are you doing? What are you doing with it? 100 Mavs bucks. So I put 50 and coupe, 20 and Kyrie, 20 and Max and 10 and an ETF of Mavs rookies. KG did roughly the same thing. Kind of, you know, he saved a little bit extra cash for Najimarshall.

Nobody wants my financial advice. We knew he wasn't going to play. I knew it. I knew it. That was a test and you failed miserably. Actually, you know, right, you're right. He passed actually. He actually passed. What did the show alpha do? I didn't do it. I don't need to do. He doesn't know. He had 10 alpha investment for him. He doesn't need to do. That's beneath him. That's the show alpha. The show alpha will speak when he wants to speak. That's right. That's right. And honestly, that's the way it should be because he can cut off from Mike at any point. It's fine. All right, Stein, we'll let you go, man. Appreciate your time today. Bye guys. Bye, Mark.
