About this episode

“A bold synthesis of inspiration and information. Keeping you up to date on the news and issues from a courageous Catholic perspective. A Catholic take with Joe McLean starts now. A bold synthesis of information and inspiration in your host, Joe McLean.”From the transcript

September 22nd, 2026 - In 1967, Fulton Sheen wrote that Teilhard de Chardin would one day stand beside St. John of the Cross as "the spiritual genius of the twentieth century." Rome had warned the faithful about Teilhard's writings five years earlier. Two days before Sheen's beatification, Mark Lambert joins Joe to look at why so many traditional Catholics have soured on the man who taught America the Faith. Plus: Ellen Holmes Steeves-LeBlanc of Destined4This on her scenic journey back to the Faith, and why she wants every bishop and priest praying the Rosary out loud with their people.

Go into the world. And tell every man that you meet. There is a man on the cross. A Catholic take. What you need to know right now. A bold synthesis of inspiration and information. Keeping you up to date on the news and issues from a courageous Catholic perspective. A Catholic take with Joe McLean starts now. Praise be to Jesus Christ. Welcome back to a Catholic take. A bold synthesis of information and inspiration in your host, Joe McLean. Praise be to God. It is good to be on with you. Getting down to the wire in St. Louis with the beatification of Fulton Sheen. I got to tell you I've always loved Fulton Sheen. Big fan of Fulton Sheen. His writings, his work, his speeches, his life. It really has had a great impact on so many millions of Catholics.

I'm one of them. And yet, what are we to make of the fact that Fulton Sheen, like so many other men we might love in respect, played with fire? Just a little bit. Case in point. In 1962, the Holy Office at the Vatican said this about Tariard Deschidin and his works. They abound in such ambiguities. And indeed, even in serious errors as to offend Catholic doctrine. Close quote. That was the Holy Office 1962. Just five years later, still the Holy Office didn't like Tariard Deschidin's work. And five years after saying that Archbishop Fulton Sheen said this, quote, Tariard will appear like John of the Cross and St. Teresa Vavila. As the spiritual genius of the 20th century, close quote. How did he get that so wrong? What do we do with that?

How do we make sense of that? I am looking forward to blessed Fulton Sheen someday, St. Fulton Sheen, but I gotta say it is a wee bit difficult to get past things like this. So we're gonna have a conversation about that at 30 past the hour. Mark Lambert's gonna be on the team from Catholicunscripted.com to join us and weigh in on this conversation. He's been doing a lot of conversation over on X talking about some other patients. And we're gonna enjoy our conversation with Mark coming up on the show. Also, I'm kind of excited to share with you. I've been advising on the back end, a nonprofit organization called Destinned for This.com. Ellen, who founded this Apostle, is gonna be on the team. This is an Apostle that is designed to help provide for those discerning or vocations to go on retreat or pilgrimage to provide the funds, the capability to go on a pilgrimage.

And it's gonna cater a little bit towards men and women religious, the priesthood, et cetera. Ellen joins us at 14 past the hour to talk about Destinned for this. So we're gonna be talking about a lot today. I would be grateful as always if you would share us with a friend. You can be a part of the conversation. Tell me what you think you get a Catholic take just like I get a Catholic take. You do that in the con box of the live video feed. I would say the primary place would be on YouTube or a telegram or other places. But you can find all of them linked up at thestationofthecross.com forward slash A, C, T. Who is a favor? Share us with a friend. And the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost, Amen. Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection implored thy help or sought thine intercession was left unated. Inspired by this confidence I fly into the EO virgin of virgins, my mother,

to thee do I come before the I stand sinful and sorrowful. O mother of the wording carnit despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy here and dance or me, Amen. And the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Ghost, and now your saint of the day. St. Maurice pray for us. Maurice, or Mauritius, was the leader of the entirely Christian Theeben Legion of the Roman Army, recruited from a region of Egypt. In the late third century, the Legion was sent to Gaul to suppress a revolt and served the Empire well. When ordered to offer sacrifice to the Emperor and other Roman idols, however, the soldiers respectfully but firmly disobeyed, declaring that as Christians they could not offer worship to false gods, but as soldiers, they remained ready to die in loyal service to the Emperor. Despite this pledge, the furious Emperor twice ordered that the Legion be decimated,

a punishment in which every tenth soldier was executed. The survivors, however, openly envied their martyr brethren. After Maurice sent another message reiterating their loyalty and declaring their readiness to die, the entire Legion was put to death at a Gaunom, now known as San Maurice in Switzerland. Maurice has long been a patron of all Christian soldiers, as well as of weavers, weaponsmiths, and against gout and cramps. He is also a primary patron of the Holy Roman emperors, who used relics like his sword and spurs in their coronations, up through that of Emperor Blessed Carl of Austria-Hungary in the Year of our Lord, 1916. Lifesite News reports Pope Leo ignores audience requests from traditionalists.

A source close to the organizers of the annual Samorum Pontificalm Pilgrimage in Rome, October 23 through the 25th, said the letter that they sent through Bishop Athanasius Snyder, asked for two things, use of Saint Peter's Basilica for a pontifical high mass, which was denied for this year, and a private audience on which no reply has come at all. The pontifical high mass will instead be offered at Saint Mary Major. Zile reports, Missouri man charged after bomb threat against St. Louis Archdiocese. Jeremiah Robinson, 32 years old of St. Genevieve, Missouri, was charged September 16 with first-degree terrorist threat after allegedly threatening a bomb attack on the Cardinal Regale Center in Schruzberry, the administrative headquarters of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. The building was evacuated while bomb detection dogs searched the property, and no credible evidence was found.

And Lifesite News again reports Feds open investigation into the Massachusetts district that helped take a Catholic girl from her parents. The U.S. Department of Education student privacy policy office announced September 17 that it is investigating the public schools of Northboro and Southboro, Massachusetts, over the case of Sophie Cutsco, a teen removed from her Catholic parents nearly two years ago. The father, Joseph Cutsco, says the family was told Sophie was staying after school for extra math help. When in fact, she was receiving secret counseling at the Algonquin Regional High School. Since her removal, the state has housed her in a boy's dormitory and put her on birth control and anti-psychotics. And just last week, the parents learned the state wants to start her on high-dose testosterone, which they are fighting ahead of the October 29 court date. May good win, and evil die a horrible, miserable death in the state of Massachusetts.

And those are your headline news. The Gospel today in the Novus Surtoh Miss A comes to us from Luke chapter 8 verses 19 through 21. At that time, Jesus' mother and brother-in came unto him and they could not come at him for the crowd. And it was told him, thy mother and thy brother-in-stand without desiring to see thee, who answering Jesus said to them. My mother and my brother-in are they who hear the word of God and do it. The Gospel of the Lord. Laus TV Christie. They don't just talk the talk, they walk the walk. You see, therein lies the rub. My mother's great because she didn't just talk the talk, she walks the walk. You see, there it is, it's not just biological.

My mother's amazing because she does the will of God. That is what our Savior is saying here. Cornies to Loppeday, Father Haydock and Archbishop McKeevelie had much to say today. Cornies to Loppeday says he's not shaming his mother here, his mother and his poor brother-in, but to check the messenger's importunity and quoting St. Ambrose to show he must be intent on his father's ministry than other natural affections. Archbishop McKeevelie says the same. He acknowledges no mother, no brother, should they in the least interfere with him while doing his father's business. You see, he has come to do the father's will. He has come to do the father's will. Does his mother intend to interfere? No, absolutely not. In fact, Father Haydock says these brothers were probably the sons of Mary of Cleopist or the wife of Alphius,

but not the blessed Virgin Mary, and that Mary probably was desirous of withdrawing her divine son from the dangers that encompassed him and securing him some rest. She was trying to be a mom. Like, you need to eat some. Have you eaten any? Why don't you eat? Why don't you eat? You haven't eaten. Like, you look like you haven't eaten. You need some rest. She's just being a mom at the end of the day. She wants her son to have some rest. But now, McKeevelie says those who hear the word of God and do it, his blessed mother is pre-eminently included. Having accomplished God's will in the most perfect manner, he prized her above all creation precisely because she was the most perfect and the holiest of God's creatures. Mary was so amazing, so perfect that not only did she say fiat, let it be done unto me according to thy will, the hinge upon which salvation turns, you see. There wasn't a whole list of young women in Israel and Palestine at the time that the angel Gabriel was sent to.

Yeah, if Mary says no, go find Betty Sue one down over. Like, that's not how it worked. There's one name on the list. It's Mary. If she said no, she had every right to do so because God respects her free will. And then Jesus isn't incarnate so our sins are not remitted. Everything hinged upon the mediatrix of all graces, the blessed Virgin Mary, who was so faithful that she stood at the foot of the cross and watched your Savior die very, very slowly in agony so that you could have a chance at heaven. That's how good she is. Praise be to Jesus Christ. Welcome back to a Catholic take a bold synthesis of information and inspiration. I'm your host, Joe McClain. Praise be to God. It is good to be on with you coming up in the next segment. We're going to be talking about Archbishop Fulton Sheen.

I love Fulton Sheen. I'm a big fan. I'm glad he's being beatified. I want him to be a saint. But I've always been bothered by a few things about Fulton. She one of them is his endorsement of Tell your day should end. Even though the Holy Office basically said his philosophy, his theology was no bueno. Popeyes the twelfth refused to allow his stuff to be published during his pontificate. That's how bad he was. So what do we make of that? How do we deal with that? First of the show, Mark Lambert's going to be on the team to talk about that. He's been talking about a lot of stuff over in his X feed that I absolutely love. And I think it really helps us better understand to this concept of what do we do with these church men when they like to play with fire? We'll be talking about that at 30 past the hour. But I want to tell you about an apostolic that I that I've been helping on the side. It's called Destin for this. And Ellen home steves will bonk who founded this is joining us today to tell us and share with us what this apostolic is all about.

Ellen good afternoon. Thanks for being on the team. Hey, hey Joe. Thank you for having me. This was great. We're just at the beginning stages of trying to get promotion. So yeah, I appreciate this little little bit of time on your very great show. Destin for this dot com. Destin for this dot com. All right. So what is this apostolic? What is it you're trying to do? Who is it for? Well, it is for the religious, especially. There's pilgrimage scholarship as part of it, but the big crux of it is going to be vocational discernment scholarship for priests and religious life and everything else and then priestly enrichment is a big part of it. And then the other part of it, of course, is mother Mary's prayer, which is about the rosary and encouraging the priest to have a Mary and renewal so that they will pray the rosary with their sheep, you know, to arm them to the battle ahead. So I've been going to different dishes.

I've been to my bishop. I've met with other bishops across the world, actually. And I've got many endorsements and they do believe that it's important that the priests visibly pray the rosary and invite their people in invite their sheep and their parishioners in to have a time of prayer and a time of rosary because there's nothing more powerful than a priest pulling out a rosary on the altar and inviting his sheep into pray with them. Yeah, I mean, by doing that, of course, it. Yeah, I mean, by doing that, you know, our ladies only going to lead you to her son always. That's the only place she's going to take you. And of course, if you look at the decline in the rosary within the priesthood and in the religious life, you know, during the 70s and 80s and 90s, unfortunately, the rosary was stricken from most seminaries and most condense. I know this for a fact, my father, I know a nun who is no longer a nun. And one day she woke up and she was in a habit of playing the rosary and the next day she woke up and they were all in skirts and shirts and nobody was playing the rosary.

And it was very traumatic. And this was in like 1972, 1719, 70. And she had gone into the content in the 50s. Can you imagine going in in the 50s and now you know, 74. I can't even imagine the culture shock. But so we have like a 30, 35 year vacancy of priest praying the rosary and even praying the rosary themselves but never mind bringing it into their parishes. So I've met with my bishop, like Bishop Sarama, and he gave his blessing, which was wonderful. I have my letter of good standing so I'm, you know, I'm slowly opening doors and going to meet more bishops to, you know, encourage them. You know, to ask their priest to make sure that the rosary is a major part of it because the decline in the beliefs of the Eucharist I think is directly correlated to the fact that they remove the rosary. I just, I, because I know how mother works. She's only going to take you to her son and that's the only thing she loves.

And so, priestly enrichment is another big part of this because priest struggle. I've got blessed some, they are working so many jobs, they have so many responsibilities, some of them are managing three, four parishes. I can't even imagine. And sometimes they just need a break or they need support. And it isn't that their dioceses doesn't have something in place for like a retreat or whatever. But this, I can't believe the number of priests that I've met that have never been on pilgrimage. I've never encountered Christ or our lady in a place where she actually was. And, and I think it's really, really important. And I also believe that, you know, the priest should be able to nominate a member of his lady, you know, to go with him. It might have never, ever experienced pilgrimage and could never financially afford to experience pilgrimage. And so, that leads us into the vocational discernment part of the website, you know, I mean of the nonprofit, which is helping people discern. I mean, we have a huge shortage, right Joe? Huge shortage of priests, huge shortage.

And it is very hard for anybody to find silence where they can listen to the voice of God. So we're hoping by giving vocational discernment scholarships to help people take the time they need to see what the Lord is actually calling them to. And it's critically important that we do that and we support them so that we can help them and help developing work with the vocational programs, you know, the vocational directors and the different dioceses. And there's so many organizations that I know about, you know, where they're doing that. And I think it's, you know, we could go hand in hand with them and helping them reach the priests and the future religious and the people that are going to be leading, you know, the future of our church because we need, we need assistance. You know what I mean? And we need to strengthen our church. I honestly believe we need to do that. And the weapon she gave us the weapon, we know what the weapon is. She handed it to St Dominic. And we have beaten, we've stopped wars. There have been miracle after miracle of numerical and the rosary is a key component to that battle.

And we have to do that. We have to do it every single day. Every day you should be praying. And if you don't know it, it's fine. Do what you can do. The Lord. Just read it. Just read it. If you cheat, it's okay. You can cheat. It's fine. Just read it if you have to. You know, I was just thinking about it last year. I got the wonderful opportunity to go on pilgrimage with you and Bishop Strickland, Degrees and Turkey. I think about it almost every day still. I'm like, it's a year later and I'm, I still am processing the magnitude of that trip. It was so, so amazing. And I think that's it's like you want to give that gift, right? To those that can't do that normally. And I think it's hard for priests because in order for them to go on trips like that. Well, they got to come up with the money and that's hard for them to do. Or they got to put, they got a sponsor an entire pilgrimage and sell it out for them. You know, to be able to go or whatever. So an organization like Destin for this.com can provide those funds to help these men and women Catholic religious or, or, or these priests or perhaps even a bishop or maybe I don't know,

I don't know, late folk too in some cases to go on these trips that are utterly amazing and life altering. Like there's a great opportunity to pay it forward. Where those of us can chip in a few bucks here, a few bucks there, knowing that that might help somebody in this category go on a trip to you, Rome or the Holy Land or what have you. But they're going to they're going to literally remember and be thinking about it like for years after, right? Oh, yeah, it's it's it leads an indelible mark in your person. I mean Israel unfortunately is difficult right now. But we're hoping next year we'll be able to get there. Of course, you know, I work with select international tours and cruises up to we did the pilgrimage with. And they're absolutely amazing and what they do and their programages are safe and they're well organized and I know you can attend to that. Yes, Joe. So right now that's one of the sets of pilgrimage company that we are have partnered with and they have been so generous every pilgrim that I put on a pilgrimage.

They donate $50 into the non really because right now work. Yes, they do select does that. They also donate on every pilgrimage to the Christians in the Holy Land. And they actually have been during the pandemic. We donated I think they've given over $1.2 million into the Holy Land to the Christians there. That's amazing. It's it's it's amazing. It's absolutely amazing. And so it's you know the pilgrimage part of it is critically important. You know our whole life is a pilgrimage though and I think people forget that. You know, I mean you're on a pilgrimage because we're here doing our dress rehearsal so we can hopefully get to heaven. And that you know, and that's really really important and you know we have to love each other all the way there all the way there. Yeah, so what's the best way for people to help is it through the website just go to the donations button at destined for this dot com. Yep, it's destined the number four so the DST I N E D the number four is this th is dot com. It's very simple.

We are in the process of revamping our website. So it's not quite as fluid as I would like it to be right now. So bear with us as we continue to try and raise funds so that we can do that. We have a very exciting announcement to is Bishop coffee. Bishop Joseph coffee of the Missouri Bishop for the military. He is now the spiritual leader for the nonprofit and then Deacon Harold Burke. Sivers is the spiritual director and then we have some very wonderful other people that are involved in at Luis Roman and and Joe and others and some are just lady and others are you know heavy hitters deacons and all of that. So it's really really exciting what we're seeing and what we're doing and I would love the opportunity to get in front of his many bishops and as many organizations as I can because we have to have priests. We the Catholic Church cannot survive without priests and we have to help them. We have to help the bishops in the priest church. We have to pray the rosary and we need to help everybody all the time.

Let me ask you a question. Let me ask you a question. Do you people that are interested in like applying for the help that this apostolate is is trying to help with? Do they are they is it restricted to just the United States can they come from anywhere on the planet what are some of the what are some of the sort of the guidelines? I think initially we've kind of referred to the United States me right now we're still in the fundraising. I mean we would love to find somebody who believes in this cause that wants to help us grow our own endowment because obviously it costs money to give money and it costs money. And we have we as a board have limited it so like 90 I think we're at like what 93 or 94% of every fund dollar that will come into us will go right back out into this into helping priest and and religious and some lady and you know reaching bishops so that we can encourage a Mary and renewal and the priesthood and all of that you know it's we we this was to help people this is to help our church.

We have to save our church it is our duty and it's our obligation and our and our Lord gave his life for us so that we would have the Eucharist. He gave us himself so that we would always have the Eucharist and if we don't have priests we don't have the Eucharist. Right yeah well said. Destined for this is the website destined the number for this dot com is the website we encourage you to check it out. It's like I said it's a work and progress as far as the website goes itself but then we go to the go to the the vision statements really really good very succinct I like it a lot. And if this is something you feel like you can be a part of a support we would encourage you to do that to destined for this dot com Ellen we're going to be running out of time here about 60 seconds but what is your vision 10 years from now how many how many would you be helping if if the right support comes to you. I believe that every program is that leaves American soil should have two programs on it every single program it should have two programs on it that we would be able to support and that's thousands and thousands so we need that benevolent donate.

You know what I mean we need benevolence and we need it's the end of the year it's a legitimate tax right off I mean we are a legitimate nonprofit and it and help us. Save the church help us save the priesthood help us. Ellen home Steve the walk thank you so much for your time appreciate you being on the team this afternoon we'll have you back. And for this dot com destined for this dot com check it out share it with friends pay it forward be generous if you can that would be grateful. But coming up after the break we're going to talk with Mark Lambert from Catholic unscripted dot com. Fulton Sheen about to be blessed but what about that tell your nation Dan stuff yikes what do we do with that more in two minutes don't go anywhere. Price be to Jesus Christ welcome back to a Catholic take a bold synthesis of information and inspiration and your host Joe McLean praise be to God it is good to be on with you.

We've gone we've come down to the wire in America. So to be blessed Fulton Sheen I mean there's like 60,000 people are going to be joining at the I don't even know what the number is it's it's huge in St. Louis for the beatification of Archbishop Fulton Sheen and I was scrolling through Mark Lambert's X feed and I highly encourage you to do so because it's highly entertaining at the very least here's one of my faves quote this fat minute heretic is a joke close quote I mean that's a gem I love it and it's also not wrong he's talking about Cardinal Reinhard Marx who just never met a sonotal heresy he didn't absolutely want to to you know bring to the universal church Mark joins us this afternoon Mark good afternoon thanks for hanging out with us. Hey Joe good sweet with you man of many words I absolutely love it you know I was just like looking at several of your posts and it really got me thinking about about Fulton Sheen in particular you talk about Cardinal Sera who's talking about Tristan's because Stotus and sort of the vitriolic nature of trying to attack members of the members of the body for you know just

because you know because they want more and not less of the patch of money of the church or the attack on Ratsinger's reputation or Cardinal Marx in this in a way it just goes on and on and on but I was just thinking about like church these high church men that seem to love to play with fire at times and then I started thinking about Fulton Sheen in particular I'm a big fan of Fulton Sheen have been for a very long time and yet I I crunch with his seemingly love for tell your day she'd end whom the the the Holy See didn't like it they condemned basically his teaching and writings etc. What are we to like just in general what are we to make of these men who like to play with fire like how do we what do we do with that I think we're in a new place though I find it very difficult to put Fulton Sheen in the same sort of I do too I'm not suggesting it is Cardinal Marx but it's but he loves

but she damn was a heretic even the Holy Office felt like that Pope is the twelfth refused to allow his writings to be published earning a spawn certificate that's how bad it was but five years after the Holy Office condemned sherdans philosophy Fulton Sheen called him one of this greatest spiritual geniuses of the 20th century five years after I remember I remember I remember about 15 years ago I was asked to do an RC I equals and when we did the session on the mass the priest was in charge read from sherdans mass of the wall in in so bad with a lot of you know gravitas and then said to the ensemble I can't explain the mass any better than that really I know I just I buy it in my cute in your mouth got the queasy yeah I know like okay jeep absolutely you can't

always give a JP to yeah JP to at a CC you know it's just like I don't want to throw the baby out with a bathwater I don't want to say everything JP to was bad but I think more and more Catholics are finding themselves perhaps it's just the traditional Catholic but we're finding ourselves in this category where we say we don't want any of it because we can't trust we don't know what to trust and not trust they want to throw all of it out and I feel like that's that's not the right answer like I think so much of Fulton Sheen's life was was great heroic and amazing sherdan is not an example of that neither is his folk guitar masses you know that he seemingly embraced before his death either like that's cringy so and JP to at a CC you know I just like this is cringy what are we doing this is not this isn't good but I don't want to throw all of JP to out or better like the 16th or whatever yeah I think the way that I look is that you

know you can't say that Fulton Sheen wasn't seriously wrong about teller the sherdan I'm seriously doing any service I pretend in anything otherwise either but you know some of his post concilia liturgical and ecumenical judgments were you know they also sort of for me reflected the knife optimism of that period perhaps you could say but I think you have to remember that beatification isn't the canonization of every opinion that a man ever expressed if it was I don't think would have any anyone on the calendar would we it be empty the real the real question is where the Sheen's life considered as a whole manifested heroic fidelity to Christ and I think that the evidence is overwhelming you know just as you caeristic devotion is missionary sacrifice defense of divine law astonishing advantage of evangelical fruitfulness and the willingness to preach about sin judgment

judgment grace defense of the divine law redemption to a mass like all these things to a mass audience you know we can reject his judgment of the sherdan while recognizing the sanctity of the man who spent his life bringing souls to Christ and I think I robust Catholicism has to be I would do in both of those things yeah yeah did you did does his reputation proceed him on a worldly scale like is he just uniquely American or I mean you know what I mean like that or do Catholics in the UK for instance or across Europe do they also see him in the same light yeah I think I think there is a I would say perhaps in the religious speaking world anyway that you know he's an extremely recognizable figure and you know completely associated with an orthodox Catholicism so I don't really have any fears you know when you look at the

it but what he achieved and what he was doing what he was trying to do you only have to read his stuff to see how deeply you cared about Christ look and on the same you started off the show by reading out probably a you know quite uncharitable you know I saw that's actually correct but okay I'm curious so you know God help us if none of us have ever said anything wrong if if there the only people who get into heaven then you know there's not going to be many people up there he's right you know you know you also talked about sort of the dismantling of of Benedict's reputation his legacy it feels like there's a sort of an attack there one of things about Fulton Sheen that sort of tangents relates to that is post Vatican II era he's still seen as a conservative he's still seen as a as a nod back towards tradition and and then he obviously ran a foul with Cardinal

Spellman I think it was out of New York City and that was why they sent him a Rochester hoping that he would fail because he'd never been an administrator you know he only briefly managed a parish after he got his advanced degrees at Catholic University of America and that was only to test his obedience and once he did it they like okay here you go run free now you can he went to the Louvain after and that's all great but it feels like when you when you catch up the Fulton Sheen in his 80s it feels like he had been beaten down and worn out and it feels like that you know I see the I see his comments about for instance the folk mass you know when he was on the Buckley show and he made those comments about the folk that the precursor to the life team mass or whatever here in America it just feels like he was beaten down and worn out because he was not trying to air dirty laundry into public square and I feel I feel like if Fulton Sheen were alive today I think he would take exception with me I think it'd be very happy

with me because I've aired a lot of dirty laundry about the Catholic Church on my show for many years now. And I feel like even today he would never ever want that you think that's fair. I think there was a different perception in that time and I think that the world we live in now is a very different place and I don't think we've ever been in a situation when we've had prelets of the Catholic church directly attacking the faith in the deposit of faith openly attacking it the way that they are now. I mean the story this week marks and Cardinal Holorick and you know like Cardinal Holorick is on record as saying that the Catholic Church is teaching on homosexuality is wrong and needs to be changed and all right he sort of apologizes or whatever but we know that these men think this way and we know that what they're doing the work that they're doing is so obviously meant to undermine the faith and so I'm sure I'm confident that men like Fulton Sheen

would be speaking out much more vociferously perhaps than you think they even are doing. You know and I think it's the changes that we're getting in terms of evangelization in terms of people coming into the church are due to the fact that people like us are prepared to say look we don't accept this. You know we're not prepared that the faith is far more important because we've committed our families to it. You know our lives our children's lives. That's what we've done we've you know we've taken it that far to that point where we're putting our families lives on the line here and you've got these fat idiots you know who seem completely lost like it personally they seem completely adrift from anything that I recognize as Catholicism and it's important because that Catholicism is so powerful for what happens in our lives and in our children's lives. They haven't got marks and holeric haven't got children to concern themselves with or what's going to happen to them

and you know they should really have a bit of humility. The amazing thing to me is that this idea of sinodality, sinodality, sinodality, whatever you want to call it, it's all load rubbish. You know it's been around for a few years since you know whatever since Francis invented it. No one can define what it is and they are basically saying that they want to overturn 2000 years of Catholic doctrine on the basis of this you know thing that is designed basically to undermine the faith of the church. It's just not going to happen Joe. We're not going to let it happen are we? You also you do face with that you've got to call it out. You do I would I totally agree I just feel like you know my patron saint is Padre Pio I feel like he would lecture me if you were standing here about you know airing the dirty laundry because that was not his policy that's for sure. He was attacked by homosexual archbishop and priest and he suffered mightily for it but he did so silently and I feel like archbishop

and she is going to be blessed I feel like he was doing the same thing he accepted the the the shenanigans of a of a bad predatory spellman in particular and took it on the chin for the team I think he was a team player but I feel like that was also part of what almost broke him in the end and it feels like that. You know and then like you but you also give me hope it's not just the negative stuff it's not just the the cardinal world and their heresies or the telly are day shenan that seems to have one one over so many churchmen in our time. But it's all like you mentioned France and Pope Leo's trip coming up to France and massive crowds in France their eldest daughter the church that seems so lost these days is coming out and drove what does that say is that is that give us hope could there be could there be a glimmer of hope in in Christendom well you know I don't know if you know one senior one of knocks was a famous intellectual and convert over here but one of the things that you know this we gave this wonderful powerful speech where he said that you know the church died in the

catacombs you know died on the cross and it rose with Christ and it died in the catcombs anyway you know like the church this is it's modeled on Christ and it this is what it constantly does it wait you know so if people won't listen to the church was it JB2 said the church likes you know the church always proposes it doesn't impose and if you don't listen to what the church has got to say much like the story of Israel in the Old Testament it will all just fall to bits and you've got no interplanet but yourself and then we will be there to pick up the pieces of that broken civilization and rebuild once again the kingdom of heaven because that's what we are called to do and we know what works it's historically what has always worked and I think that's what you see going on in France the children the young people are disaffected with the secular zeitgeist and so they're looking for something different and they're find in the truth the meaning in our catholic in the beautiful

treasure of the Catholic play do is that what they want or do they just want the the benefits of of times gone by you talked about this you and Catherine talked about this at a recent podcast interview that you did with a month senior about England you know it's like they don't they definitely don't want what they got now but do they truly want what they had before that's one of the questions in my mind but we're having a conversation about when the churchmen that we love like I love Fulton sheen embrace and play with fire these are bad things tell your day should then bad guy no point oh why did he do it and what do we do about it more in two minutes from our clamor don't learn it and price be to Jesus Christ welcome back to a Catholic take a bold synthesis of information and inspiration of your host Joe McLean praise be to God it is good to be on with you want to tell you about our friends at Catholic match dot com

I used to binge listen to it all the time of course his television career was amazing every talk he's ever given pretty amazing I've always been uncomfortable with his embracing of tell your day should Dan who is a heretic and then of course the folk masses all of it you just seem like you got really worn down that's the conversation we've been having with mark Lambert mark welcome back Pope pious the 12 called tell your day should Dan a quote cesspool of airs at least that's alleged I was not able to confirm that whether he actually said it but it's often quoted that Pope is the 12th and since I prayed at Pope is the 12th's tomb I'm going to say it's a fact it's it's been proven now he said that so I again going back to it I don't know what to do with with fulton sheen but I do know this fulton sheen died before the blessed sacrament in peace that speaks volumes doesn't it I think that's everything we need to know really you know like I say you have to take his life in in its entirety and what one of us

doesn't make massive errors in judgment you know you've you've fallen in love with a particular piece of writing or a particular theologian perhaps before you understand properly its provenant so I think we've all been there and it's I just it for me it's not really a problem I think it's being used as a problem Joe I think that's that that's what upsets me is that you can see it that like as you said at the beginning it's there's a particular sort of wing of of traditionalism that seem to be absolutely against fulton sheen being be out of hide and I think that might be because he is a kind of a bridge between the pre-concilia and and you know the post-concilia church and he stands across that divide and that might make him particularly threatening I don't know but I think when you you read his staff and look at his life he was an extraordinary man and it's little wonder that we're seeing these

miraculous signs that he's subject to the biotic it be a tific vision which are right hope and pray we all will be at some yeah yeah well some of us need to pray a lot more than others I would argue but is it a byproduct of just being is it is this rejection throwing the baby out with the bath water so to speak in other words like rejecting everything JP to because we didn't love what he did at a CC which I found incredibly bad in just use that one example is this a knee jerk reaction a byproduct of of the post Vatican to air we just can't deal with all of the scandal after scandal after I mean they double and triple and triple and quadruple down on this stuff so often just the other day usccb puts out a video on yom kippur like okay it's one thing to say you know I wish the Jews a great day I hope they're well today also by the way Jesus fulfilled the yom kippur like literally takes two seconds of your life to say that not a single word about how yom kippur doesn't actually exist anymore because our

savior fulfilled it they double and triple and quadrupled down I just think Catholics maybe they're the tried Catholics or the red traffic so however we want to label them I think they're weary I think they're beaten down and this is why they can't live in the nuance and short right from wrong or they just throw it all the way because they don't want to deal with it anymore you think that's fair yeah and we get fed up with it you know I'm fed up with it I'm fed up with you know you give them the benefit of the doubt like you know give you example you know a friend of mine is Professor Larry chap who writes I you know I think he writes brilliantly in crisis I've interviewed him a few times for it well report yeah and you know like he's he's a clever guy it's brilliant intellectual and he's trying to you know consistently look at things in the most chariot or light but the last interview I did with him on the on the channel he was like right that's it now you know times up we've got time to clean the jeans tables you know it's time to really do some work here and stop talking about and as you say they you know they keep coming out with this same stuff and this week we've had

stuff like Leo saying to the poor clears and all the fact that you haven't got any vocations should be a sign of hope or some or a sign of you you know what what what I'm sorry I was that because I'm from firms the fact that that you know the climb was the right what what and you know it's just the incoherent and the thing about it is you know we're not falling for it anymore you know I've got to the stage with I think it's not the post concilia church I think under ratting out there was peace you know at least there was peace and the people who wanted to pursue you know I'm more I'd say more traditional kind of Catholicism I just never saw it like that before all of this stuff with Francis started I just saw it as orthodoxy or here is you know like you either want to do what the church says or you want to be a cafeteria Catholic and pick and choose because you can look at the magician and you can see why it all makes sense and we've for some like now for some reason you've got you know prelet's like like you got

people on senior our Arthur Hulquin out there talking about our brilliant superches as he got his glasses on as he read anything that the superches like what is going on you know I'm drinking the water again how I'm here and you have to be to do that right what why are they so inclined like tell your day should Dan I mean he was so inclined to embrace the world the flesh and the devil in fact I've got a great homily by Father Shannon Collins he basically describes a tell your day should Dan describing what seems like a demonic possession experience like why are they so inclined to the world and reject the mystical body of Christ it's like they want everything but the mystical body of Christ the design God has created for mankind why I think it's brilliantly explained in humana generis that and sit cool I don't know if you've read that one Jim but really it's looking at the temptation and I experienced this

myself before I you know properly studied the faith is that you're trying to reconcile it with what you were taught at school whatever and some of the more uncomfortable things you know you're kind of making them fit in with what's going on in the world and the shardant seemed to that's what he seemed to be doing you know he seemed to have this sort of age of a quarrier I think he was possessed was yeah well I think he was either stoned or possessed and probably both at the same time I'm just saying it out loud but anyway Mark Lambert so grateful that you're on the team check them out at catholiconscripted.com him and catharic then it do a fantastic job there also check them out on his ex speed we'll link to it in the show notes we'll go into the after show and I'll take your catholic take next and the life he God love you the second man is named father of t.r. day shardam I'm going to play a little bit of this just so you can get a teaser of this this came out seven years ago from our good friends and senses for the alien hopefully you've heard this I'm not going to play it all

but we can put it in the show notes as well but just have a listen to father shenan Collins describe tell your day shidan a Jesuit priest of the 20th century a geologist and paleontologist obsessed with evolutionism and he was therefore a pseudo theologian shardan also had an encounter with a spirit of sorts but it was not the fire of holy ghost but rather another sort of spirit that may have come from the deepest abyss shardan describes his encounter with this spirit this is his writings which he simply called the thing the thing on the desert father t.r. day shardan observed the thing swooping down towards him then suddenly again he's describing it a breath of scorching air past his forehead broke through the

barrier of his closed eyelids and penetrated into his very soul shardan felt he was seizing to be merely himself and then an irresistible rapture took possession of him as though all the oozing sap of all living things were flowing into his heart at one moment i'm going to say that's demonic possession what do you think let me know in the comments uh i think it was uh was it in glazed contermondum i think it was you right that brought up the jimmy aiken thing so i think i want to talk about that here in a minute too maybe play the clip i i have not watched the jimmy aiken madfraider interview but i just googled it so i think i have a time stamp we can probably pull that up here in a moment but uh good afternoon everybody thanks for hanging out see new ten morning to you praise b to jesus uh jane steves good afternoon from sunny massachusetts where

where are you planning on watching the sheen canonization if you are should i have gone i'm not a big fan of huge crowds i don't absolutely love being in a ginormous crowd but that's just mean um that i if i'm going to be honest with you i was also kind of upset maybe even a little more than kind of upset that they got cardinal toggly to save the mass for full ten sheen i mean really i mean what was it because was it because cardinal berk wasn't available i mean you you got dole and to choose from you even have soup it's and macaroid like there are several american cardinals you could have most of which i don't like but nonetheless you had to go to the philippines to get a cardinal to say the biattification mass like why what what does that say what was the point of that i just don't understand that i would have understood it more if soup it would have done it not that i would have loved it but i will at least have understood it more an american but whatever i don't know let me know is that just it doesn't matter does it

maybe i'm way off who knows let me know what you think james 6897 from sunny romania good to see you on the team daemon pyramid pyramid good afternoon to you praise be to jesus glad to see you guys eyes on the horizon thanks for hanging out with us today in the chat box over on the telegrams t storm good afternoon to you mac is here alberto diand praise be to god bath good afternoon divine intervention Ontario the lost creole don't forget it just reminds me divine intervention Ontario i'm going to be in sunny canada this coming sunday the 27th of september at around 233 ish i don't know some were two two thirty somewhere in that neighborhood we're going to go to mass at st antonese in buffalo and then we're going to drive up we're going probably change clothes drive up to agrafalls cross the bridge hang out at the gardens there on the other side on the canadian side of nagra falls and i'll bring a few books maybe some magnets

i just don't understand cardinal taglay he is you know mr working too hard to be cool and hip kind of guy i got to take the tell yard needs to go away he's he's too demonically possessed for my liking catholic warrior just bench 300 for five at 55 not shabby that's pretty amazing i mean that's catholic warrior that's pretty darn right great i would say what do you bench james bold of bold of you to assume that i work out well your blue cheese guy i mean i have to imagine all blue cheese guys work out because if they didn't all that blue cheese would go right to the hips right i can lift a one jar at a time i don't actually know what i can bench to be honest with you because i don't i don't like we have like a machine it's not like weight stacks we have a very tight space to to work out in but my son and i we we work it pretty good i'm i'm into kettlebells these days i'm actually digging the kettlebell i'm loving the kettlebell workouts

c new 10 you can kill yourself in Canada for less than 80 bucks that's what i was thinking you know do they give americans discounts on the made service there is there a patron saint of moving um synchristopher maybe possibly um in b selects is the filipino is presiding over the mass for sheen yes i agree supic would have been a better choice you see what i'm saying like honestly it doesn't make sense marie says don't listen to jimmy aiken ever now once i did i find them terribly pompous and it's theology questionable i kettlebell is king c new 10 100 percent 100 percent i love the kettlebell it's so good now what i do to i've been cheating lately i will take the kettlebell on the walk because i try to walk a lot every day because we're going to ready to do three hearts pilgrimage in oklahoma and next month middle of next month so i like the walk every day sometimes you know somewhere between three and say six or seven miles or whatever

and uh lately i've been taking the kettlebell with me on that walk and i will actually you know get some kettlebell action in while i'm walking two for one special being very efficient i used to love jimmy aiken i used to love his answers on catholic answers live but now i don't know i mean i don't mean any ill will towards jimmy but honestly it's like i'm not sure what's going on here don't end up in a canadian hospital says mac they've never met a patient that didn't want to uh to show to show the morgue too i guess you can bench 55 the set oh who will college you as i i i can remember right now when that video came out i can't try 55 with van hailing man they had the kuntosh wasn't it the kunt wasn't the black kuntosh in that video 55 are you kidding me we try

55 in the neighborhood it's texas i mean 55 it seems so so cute 55 everything is fast in texas you want to know it's even faster than texas though is montana go to montana everything is lightning speed in montana it is scary how fast people drive there on the back roads i mean where every animal is like it's like drastic park montana every animal is massive and still they're driving like horrific speeds and on all the roads through montana you're going to see these little white crosses if i'm not mistaken that's where people died and they are everywhere like they have a lot of these crosses you will constantly be praying for the deceased the departed the dead in montana as a Catholic um trad cancens as being traditional i tend to only listen to traditional Catholic sources um cigar mode don't forget tomorrow it's amber week Wednesday

Thursday and Saturday thanks for reminding me i do appreciate that Joey Carter is back when i was young philosophy major i remember reading an enjoying tellyard but i can't remember why i was pre-catholic in christian well that's because your classes love to talk about tellyard day shanam uh elizabeth just popping in trads turned on full-tonsheen when not all trads but some for some for sure um there's a knee jerk reaction to full-tonsheen unfortunately i love full-tonsheen i just don't love some of the things like the tellyard day shanam thing and i don't love his embracing of the folk folk mass when he was on the um William f buckley show like that is cringey but i feel like he got beat up so bad that he was and he's a team guy you know he wanted to be on the team he didn't want to air their dirty laundry on spelman he just wanted to be on the team and

unfortunately he got beat up pretty bad but i am not against the full-tonsheen to be out of vacation i am not let's see there's two will acknowledge that this may be an illustration of of bull imagery being used as iconic for yawwah oh i did hear this okay so i remember now because i did listen to this part actually was it him or was it somebody else think it was him i think it was jimmy if i'm correct what he's gonna say is he's gonna say that there was this neary station tradition where they would take these carved you know st at these little statues these carved figures or whatever and then there was a ceremony in which they would open the mouth not like physically but there was like a ceremonial process of opening the mouth of this of this of this character and then that spirit would come inside of it and then that is when

that officially became an idol so like before that it's just a statue and then after the ceremony it now it's an idol it's a god which is a demon pretending to be a god and and what he's going to suggest if i'm if i'm correct about this and we'll we'll play it here in a second but he's gonna suggest that errands tactic here was to appease the the Israelites who had been in Egypt for 30 years that hey guys this is yaway this is this idol is yaway it's not some it's not apis the bull god of Egypt this is yaway and he's somehow that's going to be okay so the idea would be what they're doing wrong here is they've made an idol of yaway and they think okay yaway has taken up his residence because the way idols work they weren't just statues um i mean you first made a statue and then you had a ceremony that caused the god to

take up residence in the statue yeah this i must have been listening to him the other day when he said this and the Egyptian context that they just come out of this is called the opening of the mouth ceremony so you like open the mouth figuratively there's a special implement i also stopped listening to Catholic answers years ago i used to love Catholic answers though it's too bad i thought it was great back in the day but not so much anymore you used to do it but you touch the mouth of the statue with the implement which symbolically opens it so the spirit or breath of the god can enter the statue and that's the point at which it becomes a god is once the spirit of the god is living in the statue i don't know that he's ever like even though like i don't think jimmy is actually saying that this is somehow okay i don't think he's saying that too that's what makes an idol it's this ceremony that consecrates the idol to the god so that it becomes an extension of the

and the true god yawas said y'all ain't doing that for me yeah i don't think jimmy's making excuses for this i think he's just trying to describe like what the action that actually is but you know the thing that i find interesting about exodus 32 that most Catholics simply don't understand is just how bad that situation actually was there this was the bull apis this was a Egyptian pagan god i deem in pretending to be a god and what it demonstrates is the Israelites were far more like the Egyptians than they were like the people of god and this is something that i you know when i i did that cheat sheet when we were talking about west hoff i put together a cheat sheet i did two videos refuting west hoff one of them was the canon of scripture was the canon only fixed at Trent that was one of them and the other one was on the papacy but

you know when i talk about the canon of scripture what are the things or like the book of genesis is genesis historical i in fact i talked to mark rambart about that i was it we could go maybe two weeks i forget now i'm old i forget but genesis in my book catholic by design god's blueprint for his church i talk about this the book of the the deuteral canonical books that's one argument with west hoff but the historicity of the first five books of the pentatook you know we had cardinal burk talking about this on shan ryan's podcast recently we did a whole thing on that i was with mark how we had them on our mark rambart rather in my book i say you this is the catecatical class this is moses teaching the the Israelites reeducating them starting from scratch okay you people have forgotten who you are you forgotten why god created you you forgotten what he wants to do with you what his plan is and where he's leading you and why he's leading you there

and what he expects you to do when you get there they totally forgot they became more like the Egyptians even though they were slaves they were still basically sub-egyptian culture they were practicing Egyptian pagan religious idolatry and this is what the ten plagues are about the ten plagues or god the real god killing ten fake pretend gods so that their carcasses would be laid out in front of not just the Egyptians but the Israelites like demonstrating first hand like these are not gods these are not gods i am going to destroy these gods in front of you so that you will know that i am the god and i will have no other gods before me and this is all about taking these people consecrating them for a purpose in a mission that mission was to go and save the Egyptians to bring them into the fold and i keep making the joke about the the

the it's right to save the canonites the peasant rights the gurgishites the the gazon tites the badmites and all other rights like the job was to go be a kingdom of priests to win the souls of the lost brothers and sisters and bring them into the family of god but the Israelites were so stiff-necked and hard-hearted that they didn't get on the team and Aaron is demonstrating this first hand in Exodus 32 and Exodus 24 you have the the priesthood of the first born the priesthood of the first born was plan a the decalogue and the priesthood of the first born plan a you get to exit is 32 you lose the priesthood of the first born and then you get way more than just the decalogue we're way beyond that now because plan a is out the window and we're now beginning to fall plan b plan c plan d and it is falls and falls and falls and falls and falls and so when Aaron crafts the golden calf all of that golden wealth of the Egyptians gave to the people you know please leave please

leave by the time the ten plate tenth plague is is upon them they are so ready to be done with all of this they're begging the Israelites to leave and giving them all of their golden silver and wealth take our herds take whatever you want just get out all of that they give to Aaron who melts it down into this golden calf and tries to do this idle thing that's what Jimmy Yek and his bris bringing up and then how do we know it's Egyptian and not to some pseudo Egyptian thing it's not just Aaron it's not just Aaron trying to pull a fast one on the Israelites oh yeah we're gonna do we're gonna do the bulgur apis thing but it's just your way it's not actually we know it's not because as exit is 32 makes clear that after he fashions this and proclaims this is your god to all of the people they rise up to play that phrase means they had an orgy around this this golden calf that is particular to the cult practice of worshipping

apis the bull god in Egypt and the niris cultures so the orgy the perversion of sex and religion demonic religion go hand in glove in the old in the ancient world and they and today too and that is how we know that this is Egyptian in its heart and pagan and demonic and it's hard but I don't believe Jimmy Yek and is giving it making any excuses for it here I think he's just trying to explain it honestly you know it's even more infuriating is uh when Solomon the great wise King Solomon is running the kingdom after David's death this great wise King Solomon doesn't end well in his kingdom by the end by towards the end of his life he is receiving a 666 gold talents from his vassal kingdoms every year six six six never a good number in sacred scripture it's meant to be the connotation is evil he has taken so many wives he

have 700 wives and 300 concubines so a thousand wives all of which most of these wives are pagan and they bring their pagan gods and idols with them into his court and they convince him to offer incense to their to their little idols so he's now committed this grave sin of blasphemy breaking the first commandment and then of course he has so many Calvary horses that he has to build entire cities just to house the Calvary most of that those horses came from Egypt all of this is explicitly written in the book of Deuteronomy that no Israelite king is allowed to do these three things you're not allowed to multiply gold you're not allowed to multiply horses and you're not allowed to multiply wives these are the three things Israelite kings can never do and and Solomon breaks all three he dies his son Rayaboham takes over for him what happens the son is so much worse than his daddy the Civil War breaks out the 10 northern tribes take off and Jeroboam

rules them as king and what does Jeroboam do he sets up another golden calf in order to prevent his people from going down to Jerusalem to worship at the temple so you've got yet another golden calf which is why they get wiped out by the Assyrians so you've got you you got a situation here and again I talk about this in my book in a great extent Catholic by design you got this situation here where the Israelites never ever ever ever got on the team never they never got on the team the team was you're to be missionaries you're to go out like Adam and and go into the wilderness and cultivate it extending the garden sanctuary boundaries you're to take your the image and likeness my image likes built into you stand into your very being into that wilderness and to make disciples of all nations bringing them into the fold that was their mission and they failed at it which is why Daniel the prophet tells us that that would be

taken away from them and given to another which is why Jesus explicitly says this to the scribes and the Pharisees to their face in the gospels when he talks about there will be a man who sets up a headdrow and a wine price and he thrends it out to tenants and you know the story I bring all that up to say the golden calf is so pivotal to understanding why you why you have all of the regulations all of the eronic priesthood all of the stuff that is so replete in Judaism was never the plan never never the plan it was always the dispensation it was always the punishment the more they fell the more punishment they got the more regulations were lumped on their heads as punishment and I did a 13-part Bible study on this we went through salvation history talked a lot about it and the way I characterized it in that 13-part Bible study which is available to all the ACT insiders by the way is at x-32 they're put into time out you know you get to the planes of

Moab and they're fornicating with with prostitutes pagan prostitutes priestesses and whatever and they are they're keep falling and only fennius wouldn't wouldn't fornicate with them it's like they it's like they somehow along the way it's like a kid who gets punished so often that he just says become so used to it that he thinks the punishment is normal he doesn't realize this kid doesn't realize that that being in time out with your face in the corner is not normal that's not that's not the plan of the parent the parent doesn't want you to think that this is somehow good they want you to learn your lesson figure this out never make this mistake again and then come and enjoy freedom that was plan A freedom was plan A and instead instead they simply embrace their punishment as though that was the thing that that was the normal thing and still today these obstinates the holdouts this they're still there they still this is

why the other day I yesterday I think it was yesterday I ran it on the whole yum kippur you know uscb thing it's like guys Jesus is the fulfillment of yum kippur to say anything else is not charitable to pretend as though somehow celebrating this old testament feast today would be legit it's not legit it was fulfilled in Jesus Christ so the charitable thing is to tell people that to say God wants more for you than just time out your face in the corner God wants more he wants to give you freedom he wants to give you grace that abounds to a fullness but that's not what they want they never got on the team and I think most people don't understand that anyway what we're talking before I went off into that that that rant you are you paying attention to this look Lucy says quote yep I agree Joe James are you are you writing this down I hope you write this down add it to the list cigar moats is Akin's lack of clarity on condemning it and for

foraying into alien territory etc etc is the problem yeah I don't disagree with you cigar mode I I think that it is a problem I would agree but in this circumstance he's not justifying at least I don't I don't think he is except they did because it was what was normal in the culture and they wanted to do it so they'd have a visible focus for their worship and Moses is spending all this time up on the mountain they think maybe he's dead and we're out here we need one God to protect us so we want to worship him in the way we're used to so we can ask him to protect Nick Kovasos right now is it just me or does Jimmy Akin look like he's wearing a Confederate jacket which is so based no cap as the kids say these days they they still say that because it looks like it he looks like like he's got a Confederate outfit on tell him that guy said that's pretty awesome I think he's just reiterating what I said a minute ago I don't think he's got no

thing he's endorsing it I just think he's saying this is why they're doing it because they think like Egyptians because they spent 430 years and they basically became like their captors they embraced Egyptian pagan idolatrous worship and Moses has to beat it out of them in fact one of the things about Moses is he's a type of Christ he's a four runner to Christ he's a foreshadowing of Christ a hint of what is greater to come because when the stiff neck people continue to to be obstinate in their hard hardiness towards God refusing to get on the team God is like Moses I'm gonna wipe him out I cannot deal with it it was like it's it's kind of like you know how parents when your kids start acting up and doing things they're not supposed to all of a sudden it's like hey your child your son your daughter did X and Y it's yours when they're bad it's mine when they're good it was a bit like that between God the Father and Moses you know those people of

yours are not worth saving I'm gonna wipe him out Moses and I'm gonna start all over with you what does Moses do Moses intercedes on their behalf and says no no no take me you know punish me not them let's save them you know Moses is a foreshadowing of Christ and his cross his crucifixion for us because we're now the stiff neck hard-hearted people who refuse to get on the team and our savior has died for us to intercede for us even though God wants to wipe us out and why does he want to why because we refuse to get on the team and it's not as though he really wanted to wipe them out it's that he wanted to test Moses is Moses gonna pass or fail this test kind like how he he tested Abraham take your only begotten son take him to a mountain that I will show you and they're offer him up as a sacrifice just like all these pagan peoples who sacrifice their kids

on mountains all the time are you ready for this Abraham like Abraham had to let go college you is I thought he was different he's just like bail he's just like these other pagan gods what is going on here Abraham had to see through this and pass the test which he did which is why we see in the great akhada of Genesis chapter 22 the symbology the prefigurement of Jesus Christ crucified on that same mountain this is all a test and again I don't think Jimmy's making excuses at least not here for this event just in this wasteland we're out in the middle of so Aaron won't you please build us a visible focus for our worship so make us a statue of Yahweh and we'll invite the spirit of Yahweh into it why because that's what the Egyptians did they're just doing what the Egyptians did which is not right it was wrong it's just why Moses stands at the camp edge and goes

what in the actual and then he throws the commandments down and who will stand with God and only the Levites and they draw their swords and 3000 are slain that day they were wrong they should have known better and they didn't do it why how could they have known better Joe I don't know maybe it was the pillar of fire at night that parted the red sea and led them through the wilderness and led them to safety against the most powerful army in the in the in the in the in the in the Middle East at the time the the Egyptian army got defeated by God by part it like how many miracles do you need exactly before you get on the team parting of the red sea the miracle that they killed the 10 pagan gods right before you you got all the wealth of Egypt as you left you know mana from heaven water from the side of the rock miracle miracle miracle miracle and still they're like give

us the golden calf let us have an orgy and let's rationalize and call it okay it's not it's terrible and that is why 3000 people died and then we'll worship that only Yahweh didn't want that so he's not taken up residence in your golden calf statue and but this explains why Aaron says be hold your God oh Israel because that's what they're thinking it is which is also very fascinating I've taken the whole after show here to geek out on this stuff but you remember when David is dancing before the arc okay so you get the second Samuel in your RSVCE because you know friends don't let friends read NAB versions right you know I'm saying like RSVCE or do a those your options but anyway you remember so second Samuel you get to the point where David wants to bring the arc up to Jerusalem which was the last jabby'site stronghold that David took so David this this king who's

a may who's a man after god's own heart first character in the bible to be called that a man after get a god's own heart takes Jerusalem wants to bring the tabernacle up to Jerusalem wants to bring the arc of the covenant up the arc had been captured by the Philistines so they're getting the arc back why how did he get the arc back in the Philistines guess what David was friends he slayed thousands of them in battle but then they respected him he was hiding from Saul and he held he hid among the Philistines as well so he makes friends of the Gentiles which was what partly makes him a type of Christ the Christos the Messiach the king will have Gentile friends as well so David has Gentile friends and he's bringing the arc up but he brings it up on a cart what in the actual world what are you doing dude god never commanded you to put the arc on a cart

it's on poles and only the priest carry these poles so what the heck and you lead with the arc what is going on here well it's the pagans the Philistines they they they carted their idols around on carts and donkeys and such oxen whatever and this is why this is why when the arc when the arc starts to tumble a little bit because the the cart is hitting the bumps the pagan Uzziah reaches up to to steady it and he dies he dies falls over dead why because he was impure and as the apocalypse teaches us revelation chapter 21 verse 27 I believe says nothing unclean can enter it so because Uzziah was not living in a state of grace he cannot be one with what is all holy with his with his god's presence the arc is the mercy seat where god sits unlike all of the pagan pagan rituals and religions that surrounded them who have these little

idols and they do these little ceremonies where they the demon gets invited in or whatever like no you don't get an image of me not yet when do we get the image when the word took up on flesh and dwelt among men as john chapter one makes very very clear that is when we now have an image and likeness of god almighty and so we're not going to have stones and statuaries and all this other stuff in the Old Testament because god hasn't taken up on flesh yet and so this arc being on a cart is another great reminder that even under king David they're still thinking like pagans they're still not on the team they're still not on the team it scares David so much that he leaves the arc there in the hill country of juda with a non-Israelite with a Gentile family he leaves it with him and then he comes back and gets it and he dances before because he has

the poles and the priest and by the way David acts like a priest he is a true type of Christ because he not only will befriend the Gentiles bringing them into the kingdom but he also acts like a priest he offers sacrifices he sets the liturgy in order he arranges all the priests and their companies and he wears the effod and everything else so David is a type of Christ as well which by the way I even have a whole chapter in my book Catholic by design of the parallel between the Passion of our Savior Jesus Christ and the Passion of King David he also King David also goes up the the crosses the valley of Kidron goes up to the amount of all of it and there he has his own Garden of Gethsemane passion like experience he's also being betrayed by a close confidant and and more and he he is being derided in all the rest so I have a whole chapter where I break

that down and go parallel I don't know I just love love talking about it but for whatever for whatever false Jimmy Aiken has found himself into with multiverses and aliens and all the rest I certainly think in this circumstance Jimmy is not endorsing this he's pointing out their folly and their folly is these Israelites they were practical Egyptians and that is the story and that I think most Christians let alone Catholics simply don't really realize is the problem of blasphemy idolatry and pagan worship infecting the people of God in the Old Testament is far more serious than anybody really realizes in fact it gets so bad that once Joshua leads the people into the Holy Land Yahshua this another type of Christ Yahshua is leading them in what do you get you get Haram warfare that their plan A was Moses telling telling Pharaoh I'm going to take him

on a three days journey we're going to we're going to worship the true God and we're going to come back that was plan A now by the time Joshua enters the Holy Land we're like at plan Z plan Z I think they say Z you say Z you're like you see it's hard to me yeah you sneeze hard enough you're Canadian you say Z I do not know I do not know never heard it not once in my life once you get to Joshua entering the Holy Land now you have Haram warfare now they have to slaughter everybody which is why today you hear you hear the phrase about the amelicate you know your friend BB Net and Yahweh throws throws this around a lot of the hard right that run the state of Israel throw this around the greater Israel project sees every foreigner whether they be Zionist Christians or else they see them as a mellocate wipe them out kill them all just like Saul was commanded to do

Saul didn't do that did he got possessed by demon along the way Saul tried to offer sacrifices for himself didn't want to wait on Samson or not Samson but Samuel and as a result bad things happened this is the this is the origin of the greater Israel project today they still see themselves as trying to accomplish the mission that Joshua started they want to take all of this land and they want their willing to wipe everyone out to get it why do we have Haram warfare because these poor Israelites never got on the team the team the plan A was to save Saul's to convert these pagans to save them from pagan idolatry to convert them into the one true faith but they never did that so it got down to the point where it's like gollygy whiz the Israelites never met a pagan that they weren't influenced by better to kill them than it is to be lost by them so Haram warfare became the standard

it was never the plan it was always the downside until our savior Jesus Christ comes fulfills every single aspect of the Old Testament every every Jewish feast every point of the law all of it and there we are this is why I talked yesterday about the uscb and the young Kapoor thing because Jesus is the fulfillment of young Kapoor he doesn't enter into the temple every year he's already done it once and for all in the heavenly temple which Moses saw that pattern and exodus exodus in 24 he sees the pattern exodus 25 he sees the pattern and then of course everything is lost at exodus 32 anyway I've gone on forever um bbq welcome back to see you in the chat says I couldn't imagine one of my children falling away God has infinite love but generations upon generations falling away into sin I don't blame God for soon putting a stop to this earthly madness

we get what we deserve I would say Eric Powell let's make a golden calf yeah no that's no bueno bad idea bad move I would agree Eric says he likes the New Testament that's good praise God I like the New Testament as well but I think I think we as Catholics we should have a firm grasp on the Old Testament which is again part of the motivation between we have a book Catholic by design is to give us the 60,000 foot view of salvation history see it in one fell swoop so that it makes sense the fact that we have a hierarchy that we have a pope that we have bishops and priests that we have the sacraments that we do the blessed Virgin Mary as as the Gibi Ra like all of this is designed it's all intentional and it was all there in the beginning and then as I just described to you we got put on plan z plan z until until our savior Jesus Christ came and took upon flesh

a zed is for the French is that is don't they say zed in Canada too don't they I think they say zed in Europe in Canada UK pretty sure they do I'm pretty sure they do um doom slayers back welcome back a lot of Judy as you're saying these new rabbinical Jews are our elder brothers when rabbinical Judaism did not exist until around 300 AD or so with the introduction of the Talmud well after 70 AD all you're left with is the the synagogue system and that is really where the beginning of the the Judaizers that's where they come from this is why St Paul is railing on the Judaizers could you imagine St Paul today with all of these Zionists Christians so-called Christians walking around yeah let's help them bring back animals sacrifice in the temple could you begin

to imagine how St Paul would be cool with that not even close every single epistle he's taken the bat to the Judaizers every single epistle I mean with like rare exception he is just railing upon these Judaizers they're like you got to get circumcised even though he circumcised Timothy he did but I mean it's just it's mind-boggling how you can claim especially like Protestant evangelical Christians who who put so much emphasis on Paul Paul this and solace Paul is that which is always annoyed me when when Christians slack like you know they're we're being extra cool if I call solace Paulist you know I put both names in there you see that makes me really geeky like come on gotta stop Paul right call him Paul whatever you want but like if you're gonna sit here and pretend that Paul is gonna be somehow okay with you helping to build the third temple and reignite animal sacrifice you need to put the crack pipe down and step on back okay because you've reached

your limit no more blue cheese for you Paul it's over cigar mode says Catholic answers has its lane intro level to help draw in others to recat the guys the wayward no visor to then time to go elsewhere without the training wheels I think Catholic answers back in their heyday when the vast majority of the conversation especially on radio was where is that in the Bible like that is where they really really did a tremendous job just like it was like batting practice for them you know you you Catholics call your priest father Matthew 23 says call no my father you are the horror Babylon and then they would just sit there and knock it out of the park you know you worship Mary you you know this that and the other thing and they would just sit there and knock them out of the park I think it got a lot more complicated because over the past 15 years that conversation shifted away from just debating Protestants about the Bible to why should I

believe in anything at all ever and that and then now you're talking philosophy right so that philosophy became a lot more complicated and nuanced and I think that's when all of a sudden you start slipping into multiverse dimensional theories and of course UFO UAP stuff which I don't know how you guys feel about it but I certainly think aliens are demons and I believe I believe in geocentrism by the way I believe in young earth creationism I'm a I'm a real radical in that way which by the way I want to get giddy and Lazar back to talk about that Catholic warrior 71 says great book by the way Joe I've begun to read it it's very good thank you for saying so I do appreciate that that's high praise I do appreciate it um not a fan of the third temple Eric says wish you could can we get coffee mugs that say that and could you imagine coffee mugs not a fan of the third temple really that would be baller as they can say Beth well we appreciate you chatting

today and being on the team do appreciate you God bless you is Israel the hard right usually mass or murder is leftist well I suppose but um the people running the country I think they're being characterized as hard right whether they are or not is less important to me as just trying to make distinctions between the people who are running that country and perhaps other Jews Israelites in particular the largest segment of people on the planet who are the most critical of the nation's state of modern israel is in fact Jews they come out in droves to protest israel not that they accept Jesus as their Messiah they don't they reject them so God help them but the the biggest segment of the most critical people of the state nation state of israel are in fact Jews and what motivates them mostly is the fact that that this nation state is treating other humans the way that

they were treated on the Holocaust in Europe that is sort of their motivating factor like the hypocrisy on that is too much for them Mackens is Jimmy Aiken Catholic dancers etc should definitely focus on defending Catholic truth instead of talking about aliens and other weird stuff yeah I agree the softer side of seers how did seers come up into this conversation uh a citadel a Catholic answers fell behind the wave at the end of the a well internet dang get off my lawn yeah whipper snapper a user says western canadian say z or z and z interchangeably in the song z sounds better uh i can it as a beautiful country it's just run by crazy people but so is America honestly a cit crew please please in prayers for a good move tomorrow of course

is going to rain offering up not complaining for inber Wednesday god bless you cigar moe will be praying for you we're gonna call it there today or today show that was fun little side rant on jimmy Aiken and the uh don't even get me started a nethaline man i'm not on team nethaline angels and humans procreating angels have no material qualities they can't procreate no matter how badly they want to they can't offer genetic material nethaline is a corruption of the good line of seth with the evil line of can evil men given over to themselves took daughters as they wanted and they were the mighty men of old this is a human thing not a human angel thing i don't know why so many trads are given over to this crazy idea of angels and humans tracking up i'm not on that team we should do a whole show on that what do you think all right guys we'll see you tomorrow thanks

for hanging out thanks for being on the team god love you
