Why Auston Matthews' Commitment to Leafs Should Not Be Questioned

With Connor Hellebuyck now publicly confirming his trade request from Winnipeg, another major American star appears to be looking for a way out of Canada. That raises an obvious question in Toronto: should Leafs fans appreciate Matthews' commitment to the organization more than they have?

Mike DiStefano and Dave Morassutti discuss why Matthews' decision to remain with the Maple Leafs is becoming increasingly significant, especially with other American stars such as Quinn Hughes and Brady Tkachuk moving toward American markets.

The guys also discuss:

🏒 Connor Hellebuyck's shocking public trade request
🏒 Whether Matthews deserves more credit for staying in Toronto
🏒 What Matthews could say when questions about his future inevitably come
🏒 The growing concern surrounding American stars in Canadian markets
🏒 The latest Erik Karlsson-to-Toronto speculation
🏒 Cale Makar's potential new contract
🏒 Frederik Andersen's injury before even practicing with Edmonton
🏒 The NHL's potential expansion to Houston and Austin
