and no power up nation on Pat Calcoun, and I'm designing your life today. Let's talk about whose belief system are you following. Now, I wanted to talk about this because we are coming to the end of the year, and this is the time when you have to really power up and pour it on and make your goals happen. Or do what a team takes to achieve the goals that you set for this year. If you are having some challenges achieving your goals, then that means that there's some things that you need to know about yourself. You need to get to know you better and what's really going on with your thinking, with your identity and your belief system. And whose belief system are you following? Usually when we are authentic and we follow our own belief system or a belief system that works for us, then achieving our goals become a lot easier. That does not mean that you don't have to do the work. It just means it's easier and things flow better for you.

Ideas come and you take action. And even if you're a little bit afraid to take action, you will still take some type of action because you truly believe in what you're doing and your identity is connected to a certain outcome. So with that being said, it's worth questioning the belief system that you're following. And in this day and time, we follow a belief system many of us that has been given to us. And unless you question that belief system, you're going to follow it without thought. And all you know is that you're not happy with your life, things aren't working out, you're stressed out, you don't have enough, you have problems achieving your goals. Well, the object of the game becomes for you to really pay attention to who you are and be honest about who you are. Because of how we're built as human beings, whatever belief system you adopt into your life,

you're going to behave in that manner. Human beings follow through on who they believe themselves to be. If you believe that you're a winner, you're going to do what winners do. If you believe that, let's say that you're a procrastinator or you're lazy, you're going to actually make that a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you believe something that someone told you years ago about who you were and it's not altogether positive or it doesn't inspire you to be your best, then they're again. You are going to perform less than your true abilities or your true capabilities. So it's worth paying attention to the belief system that you're following. If you believe that there isn't enough to go around, you're going to think in terms of lack. If you grew up thinking that you were inferior or that there wasn't enough or they would never be enough,

then once again, as adults, you perform in a manner that's consistent with that way of thinking. So this is why it's so important that you take a moment and spend some time with yourself and truly ask yourself the question, what do you believe? We just did our summer success series and it's the information or the assessment test that I provided for you. It's still available for now. You can go to designandyourlifetoday.com forward slash success series and you can download each copy. There's a copy that allows you to assess how you feel about money, what you think about money, what you think about wealth, what you think about yourself, your confidence, and there's several others. So you can download them. You don't have to opt in or leave your name and email address. You can just go ahead and download those assessment tests.

I put them there just for you. The reason why it's so important that you pay attention to your belief system, because if we're fed a belief system that's incorrect and usually any belief system, how do you know if a belief system is incorrect? Because it goes against who God says you are. Remember, you are built by design to win. When God says you're fearfully and wonderfully made, well, of course you are because he also says that we're made in his image, both man and woman. So it's not that one is more superior than the other. So the object of the game is for you to take the time to understand who you really are and embrace that person. You know, it's really hard to be happy when you are not being yourself. And you can tell when you're not being yourself, even if you're doing it unintentionally. How do you know? You know you're not being yourself when you're complaining all the time,

or you are looking at someone else and wishing that you have their life or your jealous of someone else or envious. So then you know that there's a part of you that's saying, hey, you are performing below your capability. Now, once you start to pay attention to who you are really designed to be, and you make up your mind that you're going to do what it takes to step into that, all of a sudden things change. And so how do you change things? We're talking about a belief system. So that tells you this begins with what's going on inside. What's going on with your thinking. We also live in a time where if you turn on the television and you watch a commercial, or after so many commercials, there's always one that tells you there's something wrong with you physically, there's something wrong with you mentally, there's something wrong with you emotionally. Now, this doesn't mean that we don't have our traumas or challenges that we have to face and deal with.

It doesn't mean that. What it means is that in spite of those things, you can still do your very best to work, to get back to you, to discover who you are, to embrace your identity while you deal with the other parts of you. Remember, you are built by design to win. Being built by design to win, that does not mean that you aren't going to have any challenges. It doesn't mean that you won't have some problems to overcome. It doesn't mean that. What it means is that you are capable of overcoming those problems and that you don't have to stay, let's say in a world of misery or stay with the feeling of being unfulfilled, or actually living an unfulfilled life. You don't have to live like that. So once again, the object of the game is for you to pay attention to your belief system. Now, one of the questions that it's so important that you ask yourself

is where did I get this belief system from? Am I living from my own authentic center or am I living my life based on someone else's belief system? When we're growing up or as children, we are told certain things about life. And it depends on, I guess, who you're parent or guardian, who they were and what they told you about yourself, what they told you about society. Have you ever heard the phrase, you know, life is hard? And the thing about that is things that come against us in life. Those are challenges, yes. But hard implies that you have to settle, that you can never be the thing that you hope to be, that the amazing, magnificent vision that you have for your life, that it's just not for you. And so, yes, you're going to face some challenges, but hard, even if it is hard, guess what?

Again, built by design to win, hard causes you to think that you're not here to do life with power, that you can't come from a position of power, that you're powerless, that you have to do any and everything that someone else says, a boss or any other person who thinks that they are so-called in charge of another adult, which is absolutely ridiculous. Now, we're not talking about you ignoring certain rules and regulations, that's not what we're talking about here. What I'm talking about is you denying the essence of who you are, you denying your purpose, you backing away from that person that deep down inside you truly would like to be. I have met different people throughout my life, and they were so talented, they had different talents, and they would talk themselves out of it, and they talked about what they should be doing.

This is who I am. Well, I should do this, but, and then they come up with a reason as to why they're going to shy away from what they're called to do. This is why it's so important for you to look at your belief system. Do you have a belief system that says, listen, life is hard, so you can't have the things that you desire, and that goes totally against what's written. God says, if you delight yourself in me, I'll give you the desires of your heart. So, if you stop and think about that, and we're not just talking about material things, okay, but you can have the things that you desire. And if you ever looked at someone else, as I said earlier, you look at someone else and you're going, wow, their life looks so perfect. Everything seems to work out for them. They have it together. They are so awesome. I am so impressed with them. I wish, and then here comes the magic phrase. I wish that my life was like that.

Well, you know what? You don't have to wish for someone else's life, but you can position yourself to get your best life. If you're looking at someone thinking and wishing, what you're saying is I couldn't possibly have the kind of life that they have, you can. But here's the caveat. You have to be willing to do what they did to get to where they really where they are. And that's where the problem comes in. I could never do that. You know, sometimes when I'm talking to just, and these are just friends I see in the bookstore sometimes and they ask me certain questions about what, what am I working on? And I don't always talk about what I'm working on, but we do have some really great conversations. And I, there's one in particular. And he always says, you're so lucky. And I said, no, I'm not lucky.

I'm a person who works. I make a decision about what I want to achieve. And I do the work. And if I don't achieve it, then I know that the person, there's no one else to blame, but either what's going on in my mind, something is telling me I'm not capable or something is telling me, hey, you know what? Forget about it. It's not for you anyway, because you're not willing to do the work, but I'm being honest about it. So I'm saying all of this to say, don't let your belief system cause you to talk yourself out of your best life. Don't let your belief system convince you that you can't have the goals that you set, that you can't achieve those goals. You can get those types of results, but you have to be very honest with yourself and actually spend that quiet time. And you guys know I'm always really recommending quiet time. Spend that quiet time with yourself and answer the question, what are my thinking?

What is really going on in my mind? And you have to face some things. Sometimes if you're afraid, you have to face that. You have to acknowledge that. And then you have to find your love center. We're not going to talk about that on today's podcast, but that's coming because that's something I really want to deal with. The more people I coach, the more people I talk to, the more I hear and listen when I'm eavesdropping in the bookstore. And I don't really eavesdropped, but they're close to me so I can hear them. It kind of paints my heart a little bit that people don't really know how capable they are, how amazing they are, how magnificent they are, how God made us in His image, so we could actually do so many wonderful things. And these wonderful things are connected to a purpose that would actually help this world be a better place.

So with that being said, I'm going to keep this one short today. And I want you guys to take some time. If you're not achieving your goals, be honest with yourself and take some time and ask yourself. Who's belief system am I following? Is it me? Am I doing my own thinking? And I'm following a belief system that's saying, hey, you're capable, you can do this. You're built by design to win. You're supposed to do this because you're operating and you're calling. Am I afraid to do this? See, if you're afraid, that belief system came from somewhere also. And if you look around today, and I almost don't even like to watch YouTube, I would watch it sometimes. And certain things pop up in my feed. I'm even watching YouTube as much as I used to because the search, as I said, some things pop up in my feed. And it's so negative.

And I'm thinking to myself, wow, how is it that everybody's a victim? That has to come from somewhere. So you're not a victim. You may have been through some things. And for that moment, you were being victimized, but ultimately, no one is a victim. Okay, you just have to do what it takes to get to where, where you're supposed to be. You're here to live a full, happy, healthy life. And just because challenges pop up, that's not a sign that you're not supposed to have a great life. Even the person with the best life ever, they're going to run into some challenges, because these challenges often are designed to help us grow. So with that being said, spend some time with yourself, and ask yourself. Number one, are you living your life based on someone else's belief system? In other words, something someone else put into your head,

based on the fact that your gender or your race, or how you grew up, or where you grew up, or if you did poorly in school, or whatever the case is, have you convinced yourself? Or someone else told you that, I don't know, you were lazy when you were younger. And so now you say it to yourself. So are you living your life based on someone else's belief system? Take the time to write that down. And answer that question, who's belief system? Am I following? No, it's not just parent, a guardian. Sometimes it's school teachers. When you're in school who said things to you, I can remember when I was in high school, I can remember one of my teachers, and I'm not going to go into the whole story here, because we're going to wrap up here. But I can remember one of my teachers giving me a great less than what I deserve, because she said that I needed to be taken down a peg or two.

She said, I thought I was good. And this was actually in a sewing class. And I already knew how to sew, because when I spent the summer with my aunt, they would send me to a sewing class, because they didn't want me hanging out. So I knew I could already sew, so I actually took a class. It was supposed to be an EZA. And I did a phenomenal job. And everybody, always, all the kids in the class, they always talked about how amazing my blouse looks. And I actually made my own clothes during my high school years. And she wore them. And of course, this teacher said, when I asked her, she gave us a project, and I guess I am telling the story. She gave us a project. And when I did the project, and I really did do a good job, I did a pair of designer jeans, and a very nice blouse to match.

It was a really nice outfit. And the class was supposed to give us a grade. And the teacher would give us a grade. Well, I wore mine. I modeled it. And the class, they loved it. And they gave me an A plus plus. Okay. And of course, that was the grade the class gave me. And the teacher told me later, she says, well, I'm going to give you a C. And we're going to bring this down to a B. And when I asked her why, she told me later, she said, because you think you're good. And I was good at making clothes. Okay. The teacher who taught me, actually taught me some tailoring. So the point that I'm making, had I adopted that belief system that I wasn't good at certain things? And let's say it had stuck with me. We'll talk more about this another time. I would say it had stuck with me because it did kind of poke a few holes in my confidence for a while. And she was being a bully.

So the point that I'm making is you need to pay attention to your belief system. What teacher has said that you weren't good at something? And even if you weren't good at one thing, what was the thing that you were good at and at which you were good and the teacher didn't say anything? So think about these kinds of things. Okay. And it's not just teachers. It's across the board. Okay. It can even be clergy. Okay. It can be pastors. So think about that. It can be your friends who when you were growing up, teased you about something and gave you a ridiculous nickname that stuck with you and really caused you to think that you were less than. So pay attention to your belief system. This isn't about you feeling poorly about yourself or beating yourself up. This is about you becoming aware of what's going on in your mind that's preventing you from allowing your minds that to expand so you can achieve your goals. And in this year, with such power until you shock yourself

and everyone else around you. Listen to you guys. That's all I have for you today. So I will be back with more in the meantime do life with power knowing that you are built by design to win.
