Head to fandall.com to get started today. Lots of time has expired between the deadline and today's deal, but you and I have not been able to talk about the fantasy impacts that this is going to have on the teams winners and losers are one way to look at it. But how about teams to target and teams to fade? I'm excited to talk about these groups. We got six teams to go after, I'll turn it over to you though. We got the Anaheim ducks here at the top of the list, John Carlson, that's an unexpected
move at least for me. What's your take here, ducks, caps or otherwise? Yeah, it was very unexpected. That was probably the major deal, honestly, that surprised us all. We kind of expected Nas and Cajury was going to move somewhere, but to go back to the avalanche and we'll touch on that later in the episode. That's a big one in itself, but Kenzie Weger to you saw there's some big ones, but John Carlson to Anaheim, it really does solidify them on the back end when you have guys like Jackson Lakom, you've got Racco Goudus, you have Jacob Truba. Yeah, they might be a little bit long in the tooth, you know, a little bit on the older side here, even John Carlson himself. But when you look at the overall construction of this team now, Olen Zellweger, you talked about Pavel Metchikov, again, John Carlson getting in there and that makes on the right hand side. That is a defensive core that I do not want to go up against in the post season. You've got Lucas Dottel, Tostal who's been pretty solid so far, the entire season. The top six four group is so good in Anaheim as well.
Cutter Goethe continues to impress offensively. Mikael Gran, then we talked about picking him up on the waiver wire target a few episodes ago. Same goes for Chris Crider, Beckett Seneca's having a great rookie season. This is a legit Anaheim Ducks team. I think you even said it like, this is a team that you don't want to play in the first round. Like they are going to come out you with speed. Exactly. They're going to come out you with physicality. Dottel, you know, again, as young as he is being the number one goal tender on the international stage for his own country at the Olympics. I mean, there's a lot to love with Anaheim. There's so much value to be had. You got to pick up that piece where you can. Like we always say it's the motto here on Lockdown Fantasy Oki, find a piece where you can, the Anaheim Ducks, grade A when it comes to the deadline. And being good at that kind of an approach at this time of the season, yet you're not going to get all of the big names. You're not even going to get kind of the second medium of the pack names in the fantasy game. You got to be sharp and you got to attach yourself to these teams. This is a common thread at this time of the fantasy game and you're going to keep hearing
it from us. Look home, Truba, Zellwiger, Goudus, Mintyacob, a nice balance here that you have for a team that I think Steel is going to continue to make noise. Jason McTavish is a player that flies under the radar. They even have really good bottom sixers in the Frank Vitranos and the Ryan Palings of the world. This team is built. Well, are they ready to make noise deep in the playoffs just yet? Might be a year or two away from really calling them a cup threat, but they've been making moves and they have the young pieces to back it up. So they are definitely with John Carlson now in tow here. That adds a veteran presence that, honestly, when I saw that move happen, I thought later in the day, they were going to get a little frisky or in perhaps move. They have so many blue liners now that they could potentially package. So stay on top of these ducks in the off season as well. Definitely a team to target. How about the obvious one? Let's get it out of the way right now. The Colorado avalanche.
They were already flaunting and flexing muscle as one of the best teams in the NHL steel and I'm excited for your take here because this has got to be the team with the most centered depth all day, easy full stop because they also have other players like even like Jack jury who can play up the middle and he's on the fourth line on the wing. So I would say clearly in far and away, the easiest winner is the Colorado avalanche. They are looking dangerous. They are looking balanced. They are mixing nozzle cadre around a little bit as well. So Nelson, Wah, McKinnon, cadre, the back end, the goal tending. I saw this comparison and this is why I want to turn it right back over to you. Is this team better than the one that won in 2022 because on paper, I'd say they're looking more balanced. Yeah, they pretty much are and they've been the Stanley Cup favorite all season long. When you have guys like Kale McCartney, the McKinnon firing on all cylinders, you have that tanned and we talked about it the other day in Wedgewood and Blackwood as well playing
at an elite level. You get you add a another depth center and again, just honestly, I'd call him a superstar. As in casual wherever he goes, he is a difference maker. Obviously, maybe not so much in Calgary because there wasn't a lot to work with. Jonathan Hubito fell off the cliff when he came from Florida Panthers because he weaker while he does bring the peripheral fantasy value. He wasn't too much offensive weapons on a consistent basis. He still puts up 40 points. It just wasn't enough for Nazim Kadry. He pretty much had to put it on his back at all times and I think going back to Colorado, they just even boost their value moving forward. It's going to be hard to find guys. I think legitimately, maybe the only players that you can really target from the Colorado Adelaide are guys like Sam Melinsky on the blue line. Who else is in that offensive group? I know Ross Colton could be a benefactor of playing on that third line with Kadry as well, which we've seen a little bit from. You've got to find these deep cuts here, especially on these juggernaut of a team of the
avalanche. Nazim Kadry going back to there, again, alongside with John Carlson, massive trade at the deadline. Absolutely. You just mentioned it. Sometimes the makeup of the team, they throw on a peripheral guy onto a power play unit or maybe they attach. We just saw it recently. We've seen forwards being tossed onto that top line. Second power play unit in Colorado right now, Natusian Ross Colton, Devon Taves, Brent Burns, Gavin Brindley. Maybe you can get frisky and get in on the second power play unit for the team that has basically been the most deadly offensive team from start to finish. 235 goals for this Colorado avalanche team steel outpaces. Edmonton Oilers, the Buffalo Sabers, Montreal, Canadians, and the Tampa Bay Lightning along with the Carolina Hurricanes. And I think very comfortably, we could say that those other five teams definitely the best offensive groups this season. So when Colorado is outpacing them by a 10 piece plus, then they add in another dog in
Nazim Kadry, a good depth piece in Nikwai, even though you say what you will, but what he was doing with Toronto, he can play two ways. He's steady in the dot. This team is now prime for a deep run, and if you can, attach yourself to some value here down the street. 100%. We've got more of it to talk about after the break, Utah, L.A., Seattle, Washington, big time bets. All of it on today's show and we're here the rest of the week. Pretty much the only time I tune into college basketball to be honest because it's just so fun to watch fair. We get back to it on locked on fantasy hockey though fantasy value to be had after the NHL trade deadline. One that's not on the board flip. One that I want to bring up myself actually is the St. Louis Blues.
I look at them as winners at the NHL trade deadline. I think they did a fantastic job keeping assets that I didn't really think that they should move anyways and kind of got some guys off the off the you know off the contracts here that they had somewhere in the older on the old side as well. When I look at what off the books is when I look at some of the moves they made they trade Justin fall 34 years old to get a first round pick a third round pick. Yeah, some some other guys in that as well, but you get a first round. You get a third round. You trade Brady and Shen. You get a conditional first round and a 2026 third round as well. So you get some you get some draft picks back. You also got Jonathan Drew and who made a got his first goal in a St. Louis Blues uniform. I think that just opens the door to everybody else in that group in which we talked about. Number one, you said it over the last couple of waiver wire episodes Joel Hauffer. He's playing unbelievable right now. He's on a four game win streak in that four game and he has an average of a nine sixty five save percentage.
He had a shut out win against the Anaheim Ducks the other day. He's knocked off the duck. He's knocked off the wild. He's got the Seattle Kraken, the San Jose sharks in there. Those are all really good teams in the Western conference. So he's doing great. Pavlo Bucci Nevich has been great over the last 12 games going back even before the Olympic break. 12 points in his last 12 games. He's got triple eligibility. All of these guys are pretty much under 50% rostered outside of Robert Thomas. Actually, and Dylan Holloway, 52% off 52% rostered right now. He's available. Look, the St. Louis Blues have one four games in a row. They're eight points back of a wild card spot. I'm not going to say they get into the playoffs. But they're playing some really good hockey right now. And there is value to be had, especially in that top six four group everywhere. You look, Jonathan June, who I just mentioned, he's going to be available. Jimmy Snuggaroo at 30% Bucci Nevich, triple eligibility at 23%. During Kairun, Jake neighbors are playing on the third line somehow with the Borsty who we've talked about over the last two three weeks now.
So even though they might not even though they might not make the playoffs, even though this team is still near the bottom of the Western conference. I think they came out as winners. They kept some really good assets. They get some draft picks and it opens the door for all of those younger guys to get some more ice time in the top six. And what's really intriguing is all the attention that Jordan Bennington caught headed into the Olympics. And yeah, we knew his struggles. They've been well documented. But what's really been surprising is the gold tender that you mentioned in Hofer behind him. He's really been great. I really appreciate you bringing that up because that's one that's flown right under the radar. And yeah, they might be winners. I totally agree with you, but that's not a sexy team to go after. But this is the classic case of separating what you think the team might be doing in the standings and still tapping into the fantasy value that the team has. So thank you very much. St. Louis Blues, you Tom is one when you bring it in a defenseman with the quality of
McKenzie, we go, when you have a team that I don't even want to call them top heavy because I think Mikhail Sergeyev, Sean Jersey, Corova Melka, make them a good team on the back end as well. I don't I'm excited for you to give me what you think the outcome is and we'll keep this one short because we've got losers and we got teams to fade and we got bets. The mammoth have three straight wins. Six, four and 10 and are holding down that wild card spot top wild card spot with 72 points. Like they're five up on the Seattle Kraken and I look at the sharks, I look at the kings, I look at the preads. If this were just talking about wild card steel, this team is making the post season. So then you take a look at what their fantasy pieces might do down the stretch as this team should continue to succeed. I think there's a ton of value here. The Kenzie Wieger going there makes them a winner in my books all day long. He will bring a nice balance to the back end. What will that do for the Keller Schmaltz get there's Paturka's Logan Coolies of the
world. It could be fantasy boom down the stretch here for Utah. Yes. The only move they made the NHL trade deadline and they made a major splash here getting the Kenzie Wieger. It helps them on the blue line. It bolsters their defensive capabilities in front of in front of again, who's played pretty well this season in Krelva Melka, but maybe doesn't have that experience going into the post season. A lot of these guys don't. So Kenzie Wieger brings that to the table for Utah as they continue to fight for a playoff chance and playoff hopes, which they most likely will get because they've just been that kind of team all season long. Yeah, it opens the door again once again for a lot of those guys in the offensive group. Yeah, we've talked about Jack McBam. We talked about loss in crowds on yesterday's waiver wire episode or on Sunday's waiver wire episode that you want to go tune into big winners here for the ducks, blues, avalanche, mammoth, a few other teams, but those would be the top ones from our side of things. Let's get to the losers and then of course, big time bets at the end of the episode. Number one loser on this episode are the L.A. Kings.
I mean, they trade away Corey Perry. He goes back to the Tampa Bay Lightning, another return E, which actually I think was kind of funny. There's a lot of quite a lot. There's a lot of comments out there about potentially the lightning and avalanche facing in the Stanley Cup finals again and Corey Perry being on the losing side, Patrick being on the winning side. Nevertheless, Kings, they come in as losers on NHL trade deadline day. They trade away Corey Perry. They bring in Scott Lawton from the Maple Leafs. They trade away Warren Fogel. They got Artemi Penaire and that happened before the Olympic break. When you look at what they've done and again, you've seen the comments out there about giving on to Kobe Tarr as much as many weapons as he can to go on another deep runner or chase another Stanley Cup, Stanley Cup championship. Did they do enough? I don't think they did. The blue line still isn't quite as good as you would want it to be. There's some great assets on the back end, but you still have Cody C.C. You still have Brian Dumolin, Brent Clark while he is bringing some fantasy value there,
which I think that could be a target for this team. I just don't know if the LA Kings have it with all those other pieces we've mentioned. I guess also when you swing for the fences and I know the price was right for Artemi Penaire and you add a player of that elite caliber, still, how many Artemi Penairens are around in the league? Or fantasy pieces that bring, I think you'll back me on this. I'm pretty confident in saying a guy in Breadman's skill set, he's a 90 point player all day long. He's got a hundred point in his pocket season. You go for that move so early on in Deadline season and then you follow it up with Scott Lotton and some moves that might not jump off the page in any form of the imagination. You mentioned Dumolin, C.C. Joel, Edmondson, Mikey Anderson. These are all guys that they're good, steady as she goes, not fantasy relevant number one, not going to turn the page, come to post season and now you're banking on what? Do Doudy and Brent Clark to carry yourself?
That's not where I see this team headed and that's why I thought they would have made a lot more moves. Clear cut team that I have a concern for down the stretch steel. The Los Angeles Kings are sitting 64 points, three six and one in their last ten maybe. That's what Rob Blake saw and went, I can't do too much more to me. That's a mistake because they were kind of sitting pretty close. They're losers. I'd be careful with them down the stretch. Cracking. Lotton and Mick Mann comes in and you sign Jordan Emberley. I think it's pretty clear that this team, even though they're sitting in that second wild card spot and kind of fading out five, five and one in their last ten, aren't they good enough to make the post season in a wild card spot? Why not? Add a little bit more. My fantasy confidence in some of these teams or some of these players still, it's fading heavy, especially on the cracking. It really is. I said it myself. I said it time and time again coming out of the break. The jets could go in a little bit of a run. They're on a three game win streak. There's five points out of a wild card spot. Same goes for Nashville who is still sellers.
Kings were kind of wishy-washy at the deadline. San Jose. They didn't do too much outside of key for sure what I believe, but one point out of a playoff spot. Seattle Crack and they're definitely losers here. They bring in Bobby McMahon. I still think he's going to be a valuable player because he still has, he fills out the peripherals with hits and shots and he still has over 30 points this season. He's one of those guys who get a ton of opportunity in the top six forward group. Power play one time as well. They really need someone with speed. He has that speed, that quick step on the outside that he can kind of burst some defenders with. We've seen it time and time again for Toronto, but Seattle, they are definitely losers on this one. We got a few more losers after the break from the deadline, but we also got winners when it comes to big time bets. We'll get to that. This episode is brought to you by Fandule. That's where you should be placing those bets. I mean, as much as you want to say and a lot of us think that this was, I mean, it was out of the blue. I mean, no one expected John Carlson be moved. I honestly think, again, you said it yourself a few episodes ago, but where they are in the standings, how they came back from the Olympic break, they've lost three games in a row. There's seven points out of a playoff spot. As much as this probably sucks for Washington fans, because it's your number one defenseman across all statistics pretty much, games played goals, asks, all those things, it most likely was the right move for them to do just based on where they are in the standings. But when Alex Ovection comes out and says this is the saddest day of his career, they end
up as being losers. Thank you. And I think what's clear here is asset management wise or like you just said, where the team is headed this season wise and the kind of capitalizing, no pun intended, on clearly a valuable piece of defensive, whatever you want to call John Carlson over his career, steady as she goes and very valuable, then maybe you look at it and say this team is done a bad job of managing the room because Tom Wilson had some strong words as well. And that is going to impact this team's fantasy value down the stretch. John Carlson may not have expected the deal. We may not have expected it. I think the Anaheim Ducks got themselves a piece here that if the forward group responds, why wouldn't this team be able to reel off a couple of series wins to focus on the caps? Though you know all year long, I've basically been praying on their downfall, Alex Ovection
talking in this manner, though, it's not good. Tom Wilson has been a key fantasy piece this year, Logan Thompson, same thing. And at times, Ovection, Justin Sourdiff, some other pieces down the line up and been plugged in play. If you're talking about fade steel, because maybe this is where we separate this, losers they might not be all together because of good asset management. But teams to fade, they might be even higher on that kind of a list. So I needed to throw them in here in some capacity. Yeah, and I'll give that one to you because I did believe in this team just based on how Logan Thompson played last year, him being named to team Canada, even the way he's played this season. He's been pretty solid. Jacob Chikren being probably a top five defenseman this year. He's been absolutely incredible. I just think some of those young guys that we've talked about over the last couple of seasons, especially guys like Conor McMichael just haven't been consistent enough. Alexey Protis has been in and out when it comes to his consistency too.
It's just tough when this could be the last year for Alex and Ovection. We don't know what quite is going to happen. Maybe that played a part into why they traded John Carlson to just trying to look for the future because they don't know what's happening with Alex Ovection. So quickly before we get to bets, I also want to throw them in here, but I think the Montreal Canadians are losers because they didn't make a move. They were silent at the NHL trade deadline as much as there's so much value to be had on the blue line in the offensive group. I don't think they can go into the playoffs confidence with their tandem in the blue pain. San Bon Tebo is not been great this year in 873, say percentage, dobish in 891, say percentage. It's not much better. And there's no chance that they throw Jacob Fowler into the first round of the postseason either. I thought for sure. I mean, look, maybe they were making some calls about some potential goal tenders out there that they could trade for. Look, if you don't do anything at the deadline and you're a playoff team, that doesn't scream success to me when goal tending has been the biggest issue for them the entire season.
And that's where not to cop out on today's theme. I might separate this from there. Definitely deadline losers were not going after that. I would still make them team a team to target with so much forward changes, so that's where I think that conversation I like to just clarify a little bit because sometimes I look at things a little differently than you, but I think that provides a whole bunch of insight for our listeners, especially when it comes to big time bets. You and I have been very, very close to some big payday steel. So why don't I just want it in and give you with what has worked well for us a lot. And no, it's not a Sydney Crosby anytime cyst. No, it's not economic David three plus point night. It is, however, a big flip triple dip and I got one ready to go for you that I know you're going to want to sink your teeth into the Tampa Bay Lightning. I know have not looked good over their last 10 games or so. It has still been a ride for the Tampa Bay Lightning, though this season where I ain't back and off this team. They're 5 5 and O steel and yeah, they've had some struggles, but I say they're back.
And I know they took the elegance, the Buffalo Sabers, that's the hottest team in the NHL. They went toe to toe with them in a number of facets, I'm going to hit you with this. Over their last 10 games against the Columbus Blue Jackets, who they have on this fine Tuesday evening, six, three and one in their last 10, I'm going to ride with Tampa on the moneyline here, especially strictly from a revenge angle. Tampa allowed eight goals to Columbus earlier this season, about a month ago. I think Tampa comes out and claps them tonight, steel, I'm going Tampa money line. I'm going over five and a half. I take it to six and a half to no problem, but because it's a same game, parlaying and a cop out a little at five and a half, I read this step for you. Nikita Kuturov is more likely to have a four point game than go scoreless in his NHL career. This guy's insane. That's crazy. He doesn't go pointless very often. It's not like he gets four point games every night. He just doesn't go pointless. He is so good.
I saw Paddy Maroon talking about Nikita Kuturov's work ethic, which I think is something that might come into question. Sometimes Patrick Maroon was on overdrive just the other night. This guy practices at various different positions of the ice in multiple ways every single day. Nikita Kuturov is one of the best players I have ever seen play and let me wrap it up with him. Two plus points for Nikita Kuturov. This guy is absolutely insane with his puck control, his passing. It's Gretzky level, 103 point steel in 58 games. He has 69 apples already and why don't I throw the cherry on top for you because you know I like to dig into these head to heads in his career against Columbus 31 games 52 points for Nikita Kuturov. Hit me with the two plus points Nikita Kuturov lock at the night. If I had a big old stack of money sitting around and you know this Tampa team's PO after their last performance against Columbus, I'd be taking Nikita Kuturov two plus points,
slap in 10k and you can think me later. Look, that is a juicy big flip triple dip and I'll actually hit that one myself in a separate parlay. I'm going with the favorites on Tuesday and I'm starting with those Tampa Bay Lightning. I was going to play a little bit spicier and take the puck line because I'm also taking the revenge angle. It's also the second game of a back-to-back for the Columbus Blue Jackets, however, I'll play it a little bit safer as well. I'll take them on the money line at minus 255. Look, the Lightning have struggled like you said. They're 4-2 and O in their last six games and those two wins were both against the Toronto Maple Leafs. So I don't even count those. They've struggled against Buffalo, they've lost against Caroline, they were on a six game road trip. They're back at home now. They play really well at home, especially against the Columbus Blue Jackets. I'll take them on the money line with you. Second pick, Hurricanes on the money line against the Pittsburgh Penguins. They're without, they're without Crosby, they're without Naukin. They've still played some really good hockey but not against Carolina when they are at home
as well. Carolina is 7-2 in one in the last 10 games against Pittsburgh, taking them on the money line minus 2-20 last but not least, the avalanche on the money line at home against the Edmonton Oilers at minus 184. Look, the Oilers got a big 4-2 win against the Vegas Golden Knights, but that was the Vegas Golden Knights who have been probably the worst team over the last two months stretch and they're still somehow in a playoff spot. I believe they got some key injuries to Mark Stone, some other guys in the offensive group. They're not playing some good, they weren't playing good goal tending Edmonton while they have gotten in a dress, some of their defensive woes, they add Conor Murphy, they add Jason Dickinson and Colton Doc who fill in some of those gaps that they've been missing all season. This is still the Colorado avalanche, still the best team in the national hockey league. The avalanche are 6-3 in one over the last 10 games against the Edmonton Oilers and while they did get better, I don't think I'm not buying into them.
I'm not buying into them, not when they still have Conor Ingram and Tristan Jari as the tandem in the net. So I'm taking the favorites here, I'm throwing that into a three leg parlay Tuesday night hammer that with the flip triple dip as well and we're trying to get this money for all of you out there with big time bets. Plus 83 in the goal differential for the Colorado avalanche, the next closest team, huh? Tampa Bay Lightning at plus 51. So yeah, I'm not buying into the plus four mark from the Vegas Golden Knights, not one Iota steel. There's angles to be covered here though, Tristan Jari's apparently scrapping teammates and practice. I just read before we came on there's big injuries to Martian.
