A visit to a former concentration camp and Holocaust memorial was meant to be a quiet moment of remembrance.
Instead, while walking alone through the nearly empty museum, she began hearing heavy footsteps echoing across the concrete floors. No one was there.
Then came something even harder to explain—the distant sound of crying. Each time she stopped to listen, it seemed to disappear, only to return when she continued through the exhibit.
Already overwhelmed by the history of the place and the lives that had ended there, the unexplained sounds became too much to ignore.
Were they ordinary noises amplified by an unsettling place, or echoes of something that had never completely left?

My sister is here today. Well, I sure am. I used to work in a museum. You did. And it was creepy. A museum with a lot of really creepy-ass dolls. Dolls. And I do believe the number of dolls was something like 2,500. It was some ridiculous amount of dolls. And if you think about it, the odds of having a haunted doll in 2,500 is probably pretty good. I actually think it's probably closer to 100 of those dolls were haunted.
Well, and creepy. I think they were old. You know, so it wasn't like going. I don't even know if Toys R.S. is still open. You know, some big toy store and you see all the dolls. I don't really believe those new dolls are necessarily haunted. It's those older ones that have a history. Yeah. And there were very old dolls in this collection. Very old. And so to me, you know, because there's, I always talk about the imprint left behind by different things. So when there's a doll that's been carried around and gone through some shit with a little girl or something, I don't know. But I think that sometimes there's an imprint left behind and that's how a haunting or an attachment happens. Mm-hmm. I think so too. So I definitely do. And then, yeah, it was a creepy place. And if you just think about it, there were so many objects, dude. They collected a lot of furniture and, you know, just everything, clothing, furniture, whatever. So there was all of this stuff in there.
And you just know that a lot of it came from maybe some dark history. Who knows exactly? You don't know the story behind it. And then you put the whole thing together. And it's kind of like an antique store at that point. Do you have things that can be, you know, kind of bumping up against each other? It's like these two things really shouldn't be in the same building, let alone next to each other. You know, I always just wonder, can they create something together? Like, at the sphere, you know, you get coal next to heat. And then it's like, boom, yeah, thunderstorms or whatever it is. Yeah. And, you know, I would just be creepy feeling walking around in there. Especially if I had to like open up or be there by myself, then I was always feeling this very watched vibe that something was there watching. It's something weird about these artifacts.
Even when other people were in the building, and I had to go down like an aisle, and there's all these cases with all these things in it that you'd have to walk past. And so it was just, it was just really, I probably worked there. I know I worked there a couple summers while I was in college. And then I think I did it for like a year or two after that. And it was just, I didn't want to do that forever. No. Because in the museum business, you're just going to be around haunted stuff forever. haunted stuff. And then the constant fundraising and stuff you have to do to keep the laundry. There is that. Yeah. It's just a lot. So, so last week, I was everything that we post. I go back and listen to just to clean it up. If it needs to be cleaned up and normally with me reading stuff, it needs to be cleaned up. And especially there's one that I think by the time this post that will have posted
last week, maybe the week before, that we did about a dog. Remember that you were crying and crying all the time. I had to clean that thing up so much. Like I even had to re-record myself at one point because I was such a mess. But anyway, this isn't that batch that I recorded or excuse me, the batch that I edited this week. And it's you and me talking. And I cannot figure out what this is. So I think I do think I left it in that episode. So there will be people who would be who are going to be like, what is that behind you guys talking? I'll be like, I have no idea. Because it sounds like you singing. And then just going, oh, well, you know, I'm like, I have why would you do that? And it was so strange that when I'm editing, I was like, what did Kathy just do? That's weird. And I listened to this like 25 times. So then I went to play it before we started recording today. So Kathy could hear it.
She can't hear it. She can hear me talking to her talking. I can't hear the part I'm talking about. So then I sent it to you. You play it. I can hear me. I can hear you. I can't hear that part. So it's very strange that the part we're talking about, you had to hear it on your own computer because it's not coming through your headphones. It doesn't make sense why I shouldn't be able to hear it. But I, and it's loud. So here's what it is that makes sense to me. Here it is. People wouldn't even know they're missing. Well, that was it, you know, I think that's it. I don't get it. I'm going to play it again. People wouldn't even know they're missing. Well, that was it, you know, what are you just sitting there thinking going, what in my it's so weird because my response is so far removed from that. Like I don't know how in my mind I could be away from the mic.
Make that sound like it's kind of in the background. And then jump to the mic with a total different mindset. And it's definitely not me because I'm talking here missing. Well, that was that's you just listening to me talk going, oh, well, that was it. That's weird. That's a really weird thing for you to do. And I, yeah, I have edited. I don't know how many episodes you and I have been doing this together for three and a half years. So a few hundred. I've edited and I have never heard you do that. It's very strange. So I don't know what it is. Here it is again. People wouldn't even know they're missing. Well, that was it. I don't know what that is. It's not in any other place in that episode. It's not any other place in any episode. It's just, well, it feels at the end. We're up. If it is an I jump in, there's a slight second split second overlap.
And I don't know how I could be doing it and then jump into talk at the same time. It's really, it's very strange. It's very strange and it came from my house or it came from your house. I'm not sure. But it's just strange. Yeah, it is really strange because it does kind of sound like you. It does. But then I don't really get why or how you're doing that, especially the why. Why are you doing it? I don't either. And it's not like I play anything in the background. Like where would I even have that to play it? You know, like I'm not watching TV while we're doing this or I'm not watching stuff online. But it's even weird that that because it sounds like it's me doing it. I know. I don't get it. I don't get it. But so for everybody who heard that in an episode, we don't know what it is either. I have no idea.
Just no idea. So here is a story today. This doesn't have anything to do with Haunted. Dolls necessarily because it happens at a Holocaust Memorial. So it says in the late 2000s, I traveled to Europe to visit relatives and do some sightseeing. While I was there, I decided to visit a Holocaust Memorial site in museum to bear witness to the atrocities of that time. The location had also been a smaller, lesser known concentration camp during the Holocaust. It served as a temporary holding facility before victims were put on trains and sent to Auschwitz. The majority of the victims were Jewish, of course, but others including political dissidents, gay people, and anyone else in Nazis considered undesirable. When I visited, it was a holiday. The museum was still open, but the entire place was really quiet. When you arrive, you have to walk through a corridor with very tall concrete walls on either side. Just walking through it feels unsettling and claustrophobic.
There's also an outdoor area where the crematorium is located. It was a clear, warm spring day, and everything was quiet except for a few birds chirping overhead. I sat in front of the crematorium for a few hours, I reflected, I cried, mostly I just sat there and tried to take in where I was. I walked around and read the inscriptions trying to understand when it meant to be standing in a place where my people had either been murdered or sent on to almost certain death. To say it was an emotional experience would be an understatement. The air seemed very still, there was a heaviness to the entire place. Before visiting, I had read stories about some of the actual people who had ended up there. They were never far from my mind while I was walking through the site. One in particular was a Jewish toddler with a full head of curly brown hair. Later I went into another room to look at an exhibit, I was alone. In fact, I think I may have been the only visitor there that day.
It was a large room with concrete floors, so even the smallest sounds seemed to echo. I walked around looking at photographs and reading about the history of the camp, and at some point I started hearing something. I want to be clear that I have never had any psychiatric issues that would cause auditory hallucinations or anything like that. The first sound was like someone walking around in heavy boots. I turned around because I assumed another visitor had entered the room, but there was no one there. I continued walking through the exhibit, but the footsteps continued. Sometimes they were quick and loud, sometimes they seemed farther away, as though whoever was making them had moved to another part of the building. I never found an explanation for those sounds. Afterward, I couldn't help but wondering if what I had heard might somehow have been the remnants of footsteps from the people who had once guarded that place. Whatever the explanation was, I felt extremely uneasy in that room.
As I continued through the museum, I began hearing something else. It sounded like crying or wailing. The sounds seemed distant, but it was persistent. I would stop what I was doing and look around, and the sounds would stop too. Then I would go back to reading something on the wall or look at an artifact and the crying would begin again. By that point, I was becoming genuinely unsettled and afraid, and I decided it was time to leave. Before I did, I quietly set a small prayer. I offered a moment of silence for the victims, and then I said goodbye. That's the end of the story, and I'm not even sure who wrote it in. Just talking about imprinting energy on a place. How can a place like that and the atrocities that did happen there not leave an imprint behind? Like to me, it almost would be weirder if there wasn't footsteps, if she didn't hear a wailing or he. What do you know what I mean?
Yeah. No, I'm with you. I think it could never go away. It is what happened is so tied to that place that there would have to be this kind of residual leftover. Emotions for someone intuitive that you could actually hear the sounds, feel the sounds, and the wailing or the crying, I would definitely think that anyone that has any little bit of empathy is going to definitely feel it because it's so strong. Oh, I can't even imagine. Honestly, I would, if you and I go to Germany, which we will at some point,
we were talking about that today. I think I would want to go to one of these places, but I think because I get really emotional, I kind of went through the Barack Obama Museum and couldn't quagrine. But I just think that you go to a place like that. I think it would stick with me forever. Yeah. I would like to go more out of a pay my respects to the people in that time and history and hope that never happens again. You know, like in a don't forget this sort of way. I know it's that would be the case, but it's really hard to go. I, the sad thing here is, if you're not going and you're not seeing it and you're not confronted with it, you see people kind of slipping back there. And they just don't realize the incredible
ramifications of those sorts of beliefs. It's easy to be just on the internet and you go, oh, yeah, that sounds good. People are mean to me. So therefore, I'll jump in the bandwagon and be you know, mean to all these other people or whatever. And I just don't think they really understand what they're taking on. And if we can get more people to visit these places, it might be very different. You know, I taught a lot of art history and I would see this happen with old monuments or old buildings that had been bombed or destroyed in hundreds of years ago, right? Ancient Greece. That was a good example of it. And I, you know, you look at it and people just forget, they go, it's an old building. It's falling apart. Well, it's falling apart because somebody attacked it, you know, and killed all the people there and duh, duh, duh, duh. But you forget, they just,
they don't have the history. They don't know what would happen there. And so I'm with you. I think it's important to do that. I think these places definitely have the holdover of the spirits of the people that were there. The memorial in Oklahoma City. I've been to that one and it's very powerful. The, the, I'm twin towers, the ground zero memorial. I would like to go to that. I've been I think it's hard to see. It would be to go. I would like to go because I think in this story, that's very much what happened. Like they were there by themselves. And seems like there was really nobody else around that day. So pretty much walking through it themselves and really connecting. Like had said they had spent a couple hours, you know, so I could see how you could experience. I think
so too. I think you actually kind of just reached through right the void to them. And, and touched that. And it, and it just goes right through your body. So I don't know that one really touched me. And like I appreciate them going because I think it's a hard history to face. You know, to be there kind of be experiencing it in that feeling and the, you know, in a witness to it. All of this time later. Yeah. Very powerful. Very powerful. Let's go to our next story. Hi. Um, actually, my lunch break at work. And when I was like really young, maybe I want to say like seven or eight. I had a really weird experience in my room. Um, I was sleeping. And I had this desk next to my bed. And sometimes my brother would do homework with it on the desk. And he would sit
there and I would be sleeping. And sometimes you keep me awake. Well, one night, I don't, I'm sleeping in like clockwork. Like it's like somebody snapped their fingers and I open my eyes. And I kind of like look over and I look at the desk and I see what I think is my brother just holding a pencil. Completely still not moving. I'm not really totally awake yet. So I'm not fully, I'm not realizing what I'm seeing. So I'm just like Tyler, go back to sleep. Like go to bed. I'm trying to go to sleep and say anything. And it wasn't moving. I noticed that it was kind of like a white, clearish color, but it was like a total, you could, you could make out a figure of a boy. And it kind of had like a white, a whitish blue tint to it. And then at that point, I was fully awake. And I get up and I somehow, I don't have no idea how I did this, but I got up the courage to go
near it. I went to go touch it. Like I reached out my hand to go touch it. And as I got closer to it, it started shrinking and shrinking and shrinking until it just totally just materialized and completely disappeared. And I ran, I ran down the hall to my mom's room. It was just breaking out. And she, to this day, she still thinks that I was dreaming, but I was fully conscious standing up and awake. And I don't, I don't know if anybody else has ever experienced something like that. I've never, I've never heard any stories about something shrinking until it just disappears, but it was, it just, it stayed with me. Anyway, it's kind of a short story, but that's my story. I kind of wanted to call maybe somebody has the same experience and can like, you know, try to figure out what the hell happened to me. So, uh, and yeah, it's quick calls on my lunch break. Uh, thanks guys. Bye. Okay, I have not heard a story quite like that. And the one thing that I was like, I don't think I could have gotten up to go walk over to it to touch it.
I know that's the part that's different. It's like the part, the fact that she was going to go touch it. That's weird, because most people see an apparition. They don't think they're going to go to it and touch it. I, yeah, see, I, that might be our first, I want to touch it. I don't really remember having that happen. We have it coming toward us, right? I've had that, we've had that sometimes, or it goes through somebody, right? Or something like that. But for us to take the initiative, I'm just going to walk over to this, what appears to be a ghost and touch it is highly unusual. I know. I so I don't know if that might have had those two things are connected in any way, but I think that a lot of times things do, if you watch along, and if I think a lot of people, if they are to see an apparition, it scares them and they look away real quick.
It's like, oh my god, or you jump or whatever. And then it disappears. But I think I have heard of things kind of fading away. Yeah, no, no, I think, and I wonder, as Tyler was telling this story, whether that was what was really happening more than the shrinking, it was just a fading that almost took on the form of shrinking. Does that make sense? Yeah. Like the way it faded, it looked like it was shrinking, but it was just actually fading. Like maybe the outer edges faded first and then the and then finally here. And it looked like it, I just, because that makes more sense to me than just a shrink. But I don't know, maybe it just shrunk back into the whole black hole that it came with. Yeah, and maybe they all kind of do that. And we just, it just was a little different. Maybe Tyler is our pioneer on actually knowing how they dissipate. The interesting thing though,
I thought, like they go to touch it, like brave enough to get up and touch it. And then when it slowly disappeared like that, faded away, then they ran into mom's room. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. I'm not sure. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, you know, this kind of begs the question that we always ask in this situation was, this was a one off. Right? Because it sure sounds like it was. I, you know, maybe that's all they had time for in the, in the call. It was like, I'm on my lunch break. Here's a good one. Okay. Yeah. And yeah, if there were more, I would like to know. Is this something that, you know, there was just other kind of creepiness in the house. And maybe this was the only one where there was the actual apparition because I think that happens quite a bit. There's a general like kind of spooky creepiness where you feel somebody's watching that sort of
stuff. That's a daily thing that you're living through. But actually seeing something doesn't happen. Maybe all that often. So, I would like to know, was this place creepy other than this time? Evermer? Yeah. I would, I'd just be interested to know that. And maybe it's just a one off. Maybe there was this, because you know, I've talked about this before, why should time? Right. You know, be constrained to what we read as time. And so maybe it's happening a lot as the ghost thinks it, maybe the ghost is there a lot. It just kind of showed up this one time when Tyler happened to be on the same wavelength as it. It's weird. I would bet there were other kind of at least feelings of, you know, something's there. I would think so. And I'm going to guess there was. I'm going to guess.
