Still glowing from the win, Jake and Brad spend Saturday morning working through Pro Football Focus grades from the Steelers game and early All-22 observations. The conversation opens with a pointed meditation on the national media's inability to give the Browns proper credit — Pittsburgh analysts highlighting Steelers wins in individual matchups while glossing over the final score — and connects that condescension to two decades of Browns irrelevance that the current roster is actively dismantling. Todd Monken gets credit for candor rarely seen under the previous regime, Brad’s key questions about the film, and then picking some CFB marquee games for Week 5.

It's a relaxed Saturday version of Brown's film breakdown with nothing to really gear up for the weekend. We got the Browns win already in place. It's one of those fun, relaxing weekends where we get to think about the possibility of what's ahead for this team. But before we really think about the possibility of what's ahead and the fun that comes with being three and one, we're still looking in reverse and we'll do that through the early portion of next week too about what happened in this win. And we're going to talk today about some pro football focus grades, whether we agree or disagree, and then some thoughts upon watching some of the all 22 as well. So start there, finish with you know what we do on Saturdays. We pick some college football games. It is a very fun episode of Brown's film breakdown to kick off your weekend. It is brought to you by Fandals Sportsbook.
Welcome in everybody. What's up? It's happening. It is Saturday, October 3rd. This is your three and one Browns film breakdown. Yeah, I'm not going to stop saying it, Brad. It feels good to say it. It's always nice to like, you know, this is just my weird lens. So I like being one of the few people like breaking down what happened with the Browns on Sundays and when all of the other games happen on Sundays, the Browns just kind of get buried in the weeds of some of this stuff. Now they play well and things happen, things work out. Some people catch on and they throughout the week, something. But like when your teams on Thursday night or Monday night football, it's like the football world is watching. And so everyone that likes to cover the NFL broadly is talking about the young guys is talking about, you know, these Andrew Berry draft classes. And this is fun, right? And they're breaking down the tape and and you know, I do find
that people in this is probably is a byproduct of 20 years of frustration, right? Like share a little long-winded at the beginning. But Pittsburgh people who do this stuff, like keep pointing out all of these things that Pittsburgh was just dominating the Browns. At like hey, look at how the interior of this Pittsburgh line was giving Mason Graham fits before he left and these other part and then like Troy Fautano, like there's these other little bits about like, you know, burying Jared verse on this snatch trap. And so it's just so funny to me that like, you have all these glowing things to say about how they played up front. And then it's like, you to law, they lost. Like it is just like there's no, there's no, it's still like a Pittsburgh gave up a game. It's no, they're, they really can't give the Browns credit. And again, I understand it. It's been this way they've been so comfortable being the better team. And they've got, I've said this about the Pittsburgh beat. And this isn't really a beat thing. This is more of like guys who try to break down the game kind of thing. And I don't even know if they know they're doing it.
They just have this like air of superiority about what the, what the Steelers do as a put, and they're critical of their own team. But when they're going against Browns players, it's this air of superiority that is so funny to me because I'm like, Hey, you know, the Browns put up the exact same total yardage, right? They also won the football game. And I think that if you step back and view it from a neutral perspective, but it's were caught a lot of breaks to stay in the game. So like, it's also possible that while you don't think the Browns are very good and you never get over that, like maybe they are. Maybe that, you know, you feel cool like showing a couple reps of a Steelers player winning a rep. That doesn't speak for the game's total performance. It doesn't. And I just find that whole thing to be funny. And it's probably, it's probably tied to like the Pittsburgh element of superior, which is fine. Again, your brain is wired for two straight
decades of like this team is just better than the Browns. Yeah. Now the Browns have even the playing field significantly in the last six years now, seven years, really, if you include 2020 as the start, right? So like, it'll it'll turn at some point. And obviously, I think comes down to the Browns starting to win some games here and there in Pittsburgh, which is like we know, just sure in House of Horrors for them. But Pittsburgh is now turned Cleveland into the same experience, which is nothing that they were ever used to back in the Rothless burger days. And even right before then, the Browns were better against them and the Tommy Maddox era and stuff, you know, but I'm just like, it is really funny watching that. But it's been overall cool, Brad, to see everybody recognizing for the most part a lot of this stuff that we've been talking about, the core, the youth, all of that stuff, how they're responding to Todd. It feels like in four things, culture stuff. Yeah, it's all great. They're still like, hey, Mason Graham's not that good. Hey, you know, Jared versus not very good. It's just a lot of that stuff still happening,
which I find kind of funny or like, you know, the data says that Spencer Fano didn't allow pressure. But really, he's not doing that well on. So, all right, man, well, can they just have it for a night? Can we just like they just they want and they kept Pittsburgh's pressure at a low note? Like it just is this constant combat of like, can Browns players actually be good? Can we just say they're good? Can that happen? Yeah, it can. Yeah, there's a lot, I mean, there's a lot of it going around. There's a lot of it as much as that Pittsburgh wants to frame it that way. And maybe some other people too, there's a lot of positivity out there for the Browns today. Nationally everywhere, everybody kind of saying, man, this team is, uh, like, they're getting more real. They are. Yeah. I don't want to make it sound like people are still disrespect. There is some of that. And I think some of it's still tied to there will just be national media members who can never analyze Watson without the history. Sure. They just can't do it. And I think we've tried to do as well as we possibly can with
just sticking to like this performance on the field stuff because that's between Dishon Watson and God, man, I don't know. He knows certain people know, I don't stop for me to know. It's not for me to know. And all I can do is cover a football team and figure out what they do to win football games. And I, but there are some people that cannot separate the two. And then, and they'll throw it at you like you, you, you being unable to do that or see it the way I see it, makes you an inferior intellect or something like that, which I find to be a rather annoying thing. But that's the world we live in. But ultimately, like, that is still out there. There's some of that stuff. But like if they just keep winning, it just keeps putting pressure on these people to take them serious, Brad. And the schedule has a lot of these opportunities. Or says it as well. Yeah. So you get the jets next. And then I'm, I look at what already says of to be no matter what happens next week, a monster game against the Ravens in two weeks. So at home. So you've got these meaningful
games, which is awesome for everybody on the roster. You know, the fact that they get to play these, that's just awesome that they're going to get more atmosphere like last night, which was incredible. And yeah, the whole watching things difficult. It's difficult for us. Like you said, you know, we try to stick with what's on the field and just try to do that. But even that is hard because when you tell the truth about what you see on the field, then people want to frame in a certain way, because not everybody is watching the same thing, you know, as brain yearly as we are on the field. Right. So, yeah. And, you know, I wrote in the opening drive about Watson. And I, you know, I think the best thing that he's doing right now, like I'm not going to sit here and say, Jake, like on the sports radio today, they're talking extension and how do you, okay, whoa, right.
I'm not going there. But I'm just going to say the best thing that he is doing right now is allowing these young guys to flourish. And that is priceless at this moment. Do I think he's the answer? No. Do I, and I think he's the quarterback next year, probably not. But I think that what he is providing with this level of play is, yeah. I think that you and I were talking about this. Yes. The nightmare that was 2024 for him was that we thought Cedric Tillman and some of the others and Jerry Judy include, like they weren't getting opportunity, weren't getting better. I think that that was what we were most afraid of ahead of the year and four games in. And this is probably more of a Todd Monk in conversation than anything else in terms of making Dishon more comfortable and whatever the process is and how it differs only Dishon could probably give you that answer. But he has
unlocked the comfort for him that Kevin couldn't find. And, you know, that that part of it is allowing them to successfully target their big two receivers into into Jerry Judy's credit. There's probably times in the last two years where a guy who is clearly frustrated wouldn't be able to to step on the field and make multiple big catches down the stretch and the late third and into the fourth quarter that helps them win the game. Those are the little plays that they haven't made over the years. So, I'm not here to say like I know some people will put it all on Kevin being gone or some people will be like, well, Miles Garrett isn't here anymore and that culture is going, I don't know. I can't pretend to know. I'm not in that locker room. Maybe the players will speak on it and have some more conversations throughout the year. That's not for us to report because I think anybody who's telling you they know don't really know what we do know is what we can see. And there's been a turnover in how those things are happening. And it is working in a great direction. And I will also say Todd Monk and spend time with the media today. He's
very candid. I still respect like going through and talking about how DeShawn's playing and how like he actually is seeing it right most of the time. He'll tell you he's seeing it right all the time, but he's seeing it right most of the time. I was really mad. He took the sack on that final drive, but then I watched the film and saw what he saw. And he didn't want to throw the slant. And I think sometimes for Watson, it's less not seeing the first thing, but it's seeing the getting the eyes in the first, the right place right away. But he also said last week he missed some. He said he didn't think he missed really many reads at all in this game, where he was very candid. Like he threw some throws against Carolina. He should not have thrown. Also talked about taking blame for like putting the situation where TJ Watt could potentially do what he's really special at. And took the onus on that, which I thought was an interesting. And I think he's honest about that. Now he also said we're working with the Shawn on ball security. He used to
swing that thing away from his body a ton and we're trying to really work with him. Like very just like again, very candid about all of it. And he even opened up about the defense talking about how like we thought we could go into Jacksonville and be a little different and go ahead and try to throw a little wrench at him and be a bit passive. And we can't play that way. We have to play aggressive. That's that's the stuff. I mean, like I would say and this is and I don't even have like I think one guy is more right or wrong than the other. Kevin's approach of keeping everything bought up. You can't pretend Kevin didn't get some results here, guys. He got them to the playoffs multiple times. So sitting here and saying Kevin is just the wrong approach. I think there's just different approaches to this. And I think it's clear that that like Kevin, his messaging and approach started to fall flat and the roster wasn't helping enough yet. So the change happens. And I think this group is just responding to Todd. I think this this youth movement is responding to him and some of the veterans that they brought in are just responding to him a little bit more. So I mean, listen, the Falcons got a big win in Green Bay.
There's there's nothing here. Like Kevin is the best browns coach I've seen in my post 1999 era man. He did a he did a great job while he was here. I think sometimes the biggest challenge for guys sticking long term in terms of like multiple decades, I guess, which is what we've seen in the AFC North, right? Is whether you can transcend and change and evolve and change your tune and change your and he can you can do that. And that's part of the game. And it's part of the game. But I think that like Todd's approach, I find it as somebody trying to learn more about the team, Brad, to be in a very fun glance behind the door that we didn't get with Kevin. We just didn't get it refreshing. It's refreshing at times. And it's certainly helpful to us to get more handed answers. Understand what's going on in his mind a little bit. I think, you know, this young team and the way he's gotten them to respond, I think it's interesting. You think about him coaching more in college
than like Kevin. I saw that today. Yeah. It's a good connection there. Understand. Use a little bit more. I think so. I think so. Maybe pushing the right buttons at times. A little bit more. You know, Kevin was always very stomach and you know, started to loosen up. Yeah. As he felt encouraged to loosen up, if I'm forced at times, right? A little bit. But nothing feels forced about what Todd's doing. I feel like Todd's going to do what Todd wants to do. And he's a good old boy. I don't know what other way to say it. He's just he's just got that like, I'd love to have a beer with Todd Monk and just hear stories. He's not it. I think he's got a genuine buy-in right now. I do agree. Now, when things get tough, we'll see if he can navigate that, right? There are some coaches who start out hot and they can't navigate those waters. There's a difference. And we'll see if he can. I don't know. It's going to be fun to end. I mean,
this point to be October 2nd is where recording this and still have like, I think a lot of us thought this season was done at this point. They could be, you know, some people talk on pods about some teams are eliminated. Tennessee, we're done with you. You're not making the putt like, we just would have been happy to have a couple wins at this point or even one at this point, you know, given some of the difficulties of traveling down south and doing the things they were doing. So it is always to be three and one and have like, oh, this is there's a pathway here is the most exciting thing I've felt since before we launched this website, which is grim, but that's how it was. That's what 2023 gave us. So we need this enjoyment with the team, right? I mean, that video of those guys on the field, they're bombing is like the chills of all chills, miss. So I cannot stop watching it, dude. I must have watched it 30 times. I mean, I had to go good. It is the best thing ever. And then Casey does his little things. You're noticing different things and watching it and then it's how he is. And it's like,
dude, that is, you know, and the way just the way the music comes in, that is just like, oh, such such chills, such a such a browns like moment like man, that is so cool. I think that's the way to put it there is correct. It's a moment. Can you look back on this moment, that moment two years from now when we're like, they've made the playoffs one of these two years or maybe they make it this year and you're like, you know, when it all started to feel different, was that night they had the snap to kneel the game and everyone in the stadium was dancing and there was a young guy. That's cool, man. That's the stuff that makes the hair on your arm stand up a little bit. They can do that. That would be that would be a beautiful thing. So long way to go, but we're here to see if they can they can do it. Now we talk about a little bit of multitasking and the browns world as they get a 10 day break here, they're back on Tuesday, which is exciting, right? I've watched some of the film have watched all of it. I was up until three, God, man, writing game notes and then and posting the pie. I just I had to sleep some to that have not consumed the game in the way that I really want to consume you, but I've watched a lot of it and put a lot of clips out there about how some guys were playing in swastinger and a hunting tin and a lot of fun stuff. But we'll talk through grades and then we'll just like give some reports on performances. So Isaiah McGuire, highest graded defensive player, thought he played a stellar game, both phases, three pressures, got after the quarterback. Just that's what they need him to be. I mean, like, there's a contract there for him. Something similar to Alex Wright where Alex and they can kind of
work and phase and that's just how it goes. I mean, Alex Wright, I'll have to come back and prove he can be healthy and continue to be a part of the organization. But Isaiah McGuire is just another version of Alex Wright in my opinion that is what they need and he's he's doing a nice job to start the year. What you're most encouraged by is a man named McNeil Warren, man, 36 snaps. What he ends up playing, he gets a really strong grade in both phases, 70 overall. The coverage stuff was good. They trust him more, you know, when you have man named McNeil Warren Carson, swastinger, Tyson Campbell, Denzel Ward, that's a good group, man. That's a really good group and it's a really encouraging outcome. Quincy Williams played well. He gets a 60 overall grade, including some strong marks and run defense and then some past updates, promising Malik Collins, three pressure. So he has a nice grade in this one. He's I mean, listen, another guy'd love to have him around for another year if they can, right? Someone mentioned Kaliya Davis today and I'm like, I forgot he was even around. I don't know what's going on there. We should, we should say, I mean, well, Mason Graham apparently we got some official update on that. We're, you know, 20 minutes into the pod and we forgot to talk
about it. That's on me. But again, Hazy Friday here for us. We're not used to these victory Friday. So yeah, man, especially ones that mean as much as as we saw, but you know, Mason Graham has a sprain of both in the MCL and the ankle. So I would imagine we're looking at a month. It would be my thought here. But boys, tremendous news, tremendous news. I hate any young player getting knee injuries, serious knee injuries or broken bones in your legs. Never what you want. They say week to week basis. I would say if he's playing before the by week week eight, I would feel like, okay, that's that's great. But I think like he's a boost for the second half of the season at this. Yeah. So yeah, Mike, Mike Hall was wearing a boot for the ankle. That's probably largely precautionary. But I would say like, don't be surprised if he doesn't play. Yeah, because he, you know, there's a lot of adrenaline in 100% in that moment that brings it out and you come back in and all of that. So I just wanted to clear the air on where we stand on some of those injured guys, but that is such a great piece of news for Mason Graham. So we're excited
about that. Aiden Huntington plays well for pressures. I think he's just a fun, he's like 48 snaps to man. Yes, that's my question. That was my question is for you. And I wrote about this too. It's like, I mean, he has to kind of take on that role now a little bit, right? Like you would try to recreate him in the aggregate. You try to, you try to play him more pass downs, which again, in this game, 35 pass rushes, only 13 run defense snaps. And then you try to play some, some guys inside that you can kind of fit and be a little bit more like, hey, man, can we play Mike a little bit more against the run? Can we, can we, can we bring in maybe bump Isaiah down, play bar net at edge, like they're going to do some of that. They're going to have to be creative there. Yeah. Aiden's just not, he's just not big enough to deep run defense down down. Can't do it. But I was wondering about that. I didn't know how much of a good, they're good. They're good. They're good. He's got bend. He's got flexion. He's got, he's got surprising power and he's quick as hell. Good. Yeah. So good game. I didn't know how much of the past run stuff was game script dependent
or how much of it was like they just tried to get him out the field and obvious around down. I think it's a little bit of both and I think we'll get a better picture this weekend. Well, next weekend when they get with the Jets because the Jets obviously running it a little better. So then I think people perceive even though the Breeze Hall situation with the injury is a little tough. But yeah, we'll see, man, I, but it's nice to have this depth. We'll see if there's something with Collie Davis coming soon. I'm not sure, but it would be nice timing to try to get him out of that. Both Ronnie Hickman and Grant Delpert play well. So pretty strong grades for them. And kind of just average game grades, but they were good, man. Ronnie Hickman did get beat on the fire move. Touchdown with that was a really tough design, man, where they kind of had fire moves stock and stay and stay and then release. But I thought I thought he was good. I thought he played a good game. Grant Delpert played a good game. Great interception to close. And he's just such. He's just such a presence. It's just like I still view Grant and Denzel as these young guys, but they're just not and they look a little older now. And it's like you can just tell how the young guys just like vibe to them. I think that's cool, man. Pretty cool. Derek Burnett had six pressures, really pretty good pass rush game, but not a very good run defense game. But that's
what you get. These veterans is somewhere in there. Jared verse has no pressures. Not a great game. He was run defense was really good, which I thought stood out. He's still running through people. It's going to come. I really do think it's going to come. Joe Thomas put out a good video on it. I want to do something during this extended miniby. It's not it's certainly new. It's just it's very new. It's a different front. It's a different approach with wide nine. I think I thought he would have some a little better to it, but it's not like he's not worse while out. He is eating a lot of double teams. He's making an impact on the and on the rush. He's pushing. He's always getting push into the quarterback's lap, no, whether to pressure or not, but like, I guess my thing is like I don't even see him at times, Jake. And in may you can tell me, you're crazy. And but like I I would like to see him effort, a secondary move sometimes, instead of just straight away, bull rush every time. He should be doing more push pool. Bull
rushing. And then if you can't get through them immediately, push and pull. I think he's got to get better at that push pool to create some separation. I do. I'm with you. It's not good enough for what we thought they were getting. And like he's also fighting for a contract here. He's got to play better. So need to see that from him. Sam Williams, not a great game largely because I think he got hurt on some coverage drops. I don't know. I thought Sam Williams played fine. He had a penalty, which didn't help. I think you might even had two penalties. So that probably didn't. But I thought I thought he played for a fresh grade was good and his tackle grade is good. His run defense was fine too. It's probably penalties, D&M, and some of these great. I thought Sam was good. Mason only played seven snaps. I thought it's too small, sample size. I'm not worried about that. Mike battling through injury and playing. I'm not really worried about that. Miles Hardin was the clear weak link. 37 snaps. You know, he gave up 117 yards in coverage for seven targets. He also was penalized two times. So it was a nightmare for him. And I'm sure he felt awful. He's got to play, but it's the NFL. You got to play better.
Just you know, or you're going to get replaced. I play. You let me know. I mean, I obviously can't watch it too, but you'll be able to identify better. My take the way was they his run grade is actually not that bad here, but they also isolated him in the run game. I felt like he would be they ran duo 12 times. Duo was meant to tie up interior, make a cut off a backer and make corners tackle. And I didn't think you tackle. He's got to play better, man. He can't have another repeat of that or the Browns have to get considering get to considering black men or Iggmanon and moving those guys in. They how much can't do it? How much can you combat this with three safeties? Not as much as you'd like because the it's the man coverage stuff that's hard. You're playing twitchy or slot players or even you know, DK met calf inside and you're asking Grant Delpat to try to run with them. We can't know. I can't ask Ronnie Hickman. And it just it's hard. I think when you get into 12 personnel, you get an early down 11 personnel. The three safety stuff is fine,
but when you want to live in man, it's just a little cover. There's some special Jalen Ramsey types that can do a little bit of that where they're doing both, but like they don't have one right now. There's don't. Grant can do it. Okay, but it's not his. It's just not. Okay, offensively, barber played great, whiplier played great, higher game grades, and then you got Spencer Fano playing. I mean, listen, when you're first seven, let me just go ahead for our first eight names, conception, Judd Kinsfano, Boston, Whiplier, barber, and then Jerry Judy plays a good, I mean, it's just it was a great game around the group. I thought it was really strong. Harold Fanon played pretty well. I thought he blocked a little better than they gave him credit for, but he was I didn't even thought Titus Howard was better. He had the one that ended up causing an interception. That was a bummer and Todd even talked about that today that they had some leak at right tackle on that play, but he's playing better. I thought Zion Johnson had a pretty good game, especially past blocking where he was a real menace. I mean, it's just good. It was a good
offensive game all the way around. I don't even really have any notes. Sometimes I disagree with grades. I thought they were all pretty good in this one, man. I thought this is the best cohesive line game that they've had. The past blocking stuff was really good. Titus ended up allowing three pressures, Barber 2 and Whiplier 2, but none targeted to Fanon or Johnson, but those are low numbers. For the dropbacks they had, those are low numbers, man. I thought Barber played a pretty damn good game, even though the grade doesn't reflect it. He had a hard task. He's blocking Harmon, he's blocking Hayward, he's blocking dudes inside. He on a Benton. Those are not easy jobs. There's somebody really tested to start his NFL career. Let's put it that way. I saw somebody breaking down his rap against Benton. I think all the dudes a little bit of that. Yeah, he had him down and then he like does a whiplash back like something that the defensive lineman does and he just takes him to the ground on the down at the goal line. And he was so good. Yeah, it was a little the power run
there tight tight and then his power run gap concept that the Judkins scored on. So he got a 90.5 run blocking. I think that's reflective. I mean, Whiplier had a great grade. Most of these guys did. I thought this was the best run efficiency across the board that they've had as a group. I thought Titus was the best version of himself in the run phase we've seen. Fanon has to get a little better. I think he's so worried about past stuff sometime. I don't think he's taking the physicality to the run game the way I would love him to, but ultimately like they could run it. They could run it in a way that in the first three games didn't feel like they had solved and it feels like they turned a little bit of a corner here. I will dig into more of why I feel that way when we get through the film and we talk the comprehensive offense breakdown, but that was the most encouraging thing, Brad. A couple of questions about the run game. Hey, my first one, Whiplier, we see these grades. How real is that like compared to I mean, is that part of the solution? Is this an anomaly? Is he
this good? Like, how do we interpret a game like this from Whiplier where he grades out so highly? And obviously we've probably got to dig into him individually in the film to really tell, but like compared to Elton Jenkins, I'm not saying he's a better player, but there is a question there about the run game and him playing well and Jenkins not being there. I think Whiplier is about a better past blocker than run blocker, but I think he's also a very adept, I mean, try to try to put this in the correct way like, yeah, scheme agnostic guy who can come in and he understands positioning, he understands kind of how to take a momentum handle it, even if he's giving ground. I think he's a nice young football player and who's obviously if he had had a larger sample size of health, maybe maybe takes this job, but like I understand why they did what they did in the situation with adding a center of veteran center, but let's see him play it. Maybe he plays again in
10 days. I don't know if I was about to be the case, but no, a very encouraging game man. Very encouraging game. So I like this performance. I think there's going to be week to week some guys are going to get the better of him. You know, like there was a blitz from Peyton Wilson, he does call it out Peyton Wilson's blitzing from any kind of like he really retreats because the he's not that physically imposing. So some of it is a problem for him with strength, but he's understands how to manage it and for one night he was really good. Yeah, that's interesting. Okay, so the other thing they're hearing, noticing and I noticed that during the game, is they're using poorly more on the field than they have in other games. And I don't know if that is because of his run blocking ability. It has to be right. Extension. And is that a tell? Because they're not going to throw it to him very often. I mean, it can't be. I mean,
it can be. It's no different to bring in a fullback in though. Sure. And if you view him that way, then like, Hey, we can navigate this and then also throw to him a little bit. He's not, he's not a dead man walking out there. No. So I like it. I think it's a way to like put a tendency on tape and then combat it and have some chances to give it to him through the air too. So they, but he's also taken the role of Tyler Wallace who was out with a knee and they've been bringing Tyler Wallace on to do those things. Be kind of that insert blocker or a guy in the slot who's being a big body that can, you know, kind of navigate some pressure or motion off the edge and handle an overhang and duo and tight zone stuff. So yeah, I think he was, I think it's Corley's directly tied to to Tyler and Wallace being out, but ultimately, those guys are going to be heavier run than past guys, but they are still capable. And the brown, I think the browns will get into that world where they're throwing more when teams are expecting that player, that fourth wide receiver to be like a run tell. Yes. If he was 10, 10 run to five pass. So not too bad actually. And then
I, I thought he did a better job run blocking than Wallace has. He's more physical. I mean, I would play him. I would personally play him. I understand Tyler Wallace is a guy monk in trust and like sure. I think Thailand's a better pass catcher, a better route runner, but ultimately, that role is going to be more blocking. And I would, I would develop Corley as partly because like he's also a core core member of your specials. And you love him. He's a great dude. I would work on developing him personally. Very cultured. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So. Okay. Those are my run questions there. Oh, and I had one more on the one drive where it was like they were totally grooved and with the run game and then the fumble game. Right. Yeah. Was a lot of that zone run. 100% incorporated. And zone zone. Just pure inside zone read. That's all this. And that's like guys. You're freezing guys. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You, you like to read that edge because it balances
numbers, right? So like if I'm reading him, we don't count them in the run scheme. So we're going to read him and then pull off of him. And to TJ's credit, there was a couple plays before that were Watson kind of made a noise about like, Hey, I should have pulled. He knew to set it up. And but like Dishon just can't have that happen. Even if you get got and you do and you do pull, like you cannot let that thing. Yeah. So but they were. There was just it was very much like old school tight zone read that edge zone read it. And they were just kind of navigating double teams climbing. Cutting like it was so fun to watch. And I was watching that while I was walking. It's like the walk. Drinking. He came to think of something. But I was like, this is like they figured it out. They've got these guys on the heels. They can run for navigational third downs and getting first and second down runs them are meaningful picking up first. So this the first time I felt that way about this, this offense of run efficiency. So I would just love to see them continue that in New York and 10 days. And I think that's where I'm like the most encouraged I have felt, even though the game was frustrating and weird, they could have given it away. And I,
that was the best offense they played by a mile guys. It really was. And it felt like a conducive group. And it felt like even, you know, Watson hits a couple throws in the game late. They don't even have any of those situations arise. So overall, man, like there was a there's a quarter there where they scored the 21 points. Yeah. And every and Kinsebs, he was hit and and lost and hit was hit and Watson was group feeling himself. And we saw that second quarter, we always go almost vintage like old Watson the way you moving around and throwing. And it was like for that quarter, though, it was like so promising of like that I got I like couldn't sit still. I couldn't sit down. I was pacing around. I was like, this is crazy elite level stuff. We're kind of seeing here as it's kind of coming to the other, you know, Todd was in his bag a little bit. And but you could see they were getting comfortable. It was rhythm was like, yeah, it's like,
it was like I tried to tell people that I felt this way a few times. I felt it when Kevin found his groove in 2020 and the second half of that year, I felt it with Flacco in 23. I felt it in 2014 with Shanahan. There was a brief John DeFelipo moment with Macau. And I think that was really fun. Like you could see them really starting to feed. They were figuring it out. Like you could feel them figuring it out, applying the town and applying the tempo and applying it all in a blaze that I was like smiling. I was frustrating because like I thought that again, the second half is like it was bad. And yeah, the two turnovers were bad. But the shot played a Boston. I put in the Founders channel. It is there. They he wanted to throw it. It was there. He was by him. So I understand the throw. I understand the read. I understand the process. And the same for the run game stuff. Like they were driving from the five yard line down the field in deep into Pittsburgh territory. Like I'm not discouraged by anything. I was really discouraged at times in the first three games, particularly even the Panthers game at times in that third quarter. I'm like they can't hit basic stuff. They felt like they knew what they were doing. And it felt like an identify a game where you found your identity as an offense. I hope, hope, hope. That's what we look back and see. So

We picked Texas Tennessee and we both took Texas 5 and a half. They gave up those late points and didn't cover. So we missed that one. I took Oklahoma to
cover 13 and have John Matier is just cooked. Absolutely cooked. Awful Oklahoma performance. You took Georgia. So you get that one. I took Ole Miss or sorry, I took Florida to cover 3 and a half. They did so handedly against Ole Miss. So that line they were Vegas was on it with that line. We both had Iowa to cover the five and a half against Michigan. They outright one which sets up the best game of the weekend maybe probably. Oh really felt really like the football gods got that one right. Oh, that's not fun. LSU Texas A&M. We both took LSU. They blew the doors off A&M who is in a crisis mode right now. Oregon at USC. I took Oregon. You took USC, Brad. I got that one. Oregon wins by a couple scores and then the Mississippi State Missouri game. Fun football came that came down to the M. Mississippi State one by a touchdown and we both took that one. They won by the six they needed to. So we got that. You went for in three a good week. So that puts you now up to 11 and 16 and then I went. Let me see here. Second one. So you were 7 and 13. So yeah,
now you're 11 and 16 and then I went 5 and 2. So I am now at 17 and 10. I wish I was as good as betting on actual like putting my money behind some of these. That's a different conversation. All right. We don't have this. Well, this is not a noon game. I don't know if there's a new one on this. We're picking six games. We got a high of state at Iowa laying 14 and a half. Tough place to play. Yeah, the Vegas doesn't respect Iowa yet. So it's a bad offense. You think I don't know 14 and a half to tricky number. A big number, but yeah, but I'm going to actually take Ohio State because for me, this feels like a letdown spot. I know it's at home, but it's tough for Iowa to empty the tank when that game last week in and arbor and come back to play Ohio State this week. So I will take Ohio State to cover. I hate playing out at Iowa. It's hard, man. Can't except. I'm going to take Iowa to cover not when just cover. All right. The game
I'm most interested in is these two young quarterback. Skillon Russell was bawling at Alabama. They are laying five and a half on the road at Kamario Taylor Mississippi State. So this is a big one. Really, but you get what do you like here? What do you think? I think I'm going to take Mississippi State to cover. They're getting points. So they're at home. It's going to be really rockest there. It's stark Vegas. It's a actually there. I think it's a 330. If it was a night game, that would change some things, but I think it's an early game. I think Alabama. It's actually a noon kick. Man, oh, I think early one. Ohio State is a 330 kick, I believe. All right. Florida, laying five and a half at 25 number 25 Missouri. So Florida coming off of that big win. They're on the road. This is the theme of these games with the Ohio State, Alabama and some others you're going to talk about. They're laying five and a half at Austin Simmons. Good game for them. The good young quarterback, Lefty Gunslinger from Missouri, played Mississippi tight all the way to the end. I still think Florida wins by a touchdown. I did too. Okay. All right. Brad's taking Florida.
We are out of great games at this point. Okay. That's the best of the best for the week. So we picked three more. Kentucky is number 24 now. The fight in Willstein, Kentucky Wildcats. They are getting points on the road and unranked South Carolina. And if you are Lenora Sellers, you better figure it out now. Better figure it out now. I do think I'm going to take South Carolina here, but God man, he needs to play well. You out the Al's egg here. I'll go Kentucky. Okay. I'm Kentucky points on the road is always nice. All right. Auburn, three and one Auburn at number 17 now, Tennessee. Tennessee is at home laying a touchdown. Well, six in the hook. So minus six and a half at home off of the huge Texas game lost the week before. Does this feel like I don't know. Is Auburn better than this or not? I don't know. I can't. I think Auburn's frisky. They play Florida really tough. I lean toward taking Auburn in six and a half points here. That's my
play. Three thirty kick. I can't take all road games though. I'll have to take Tennessee here. Yeah, I get that. All right. Last one is the first test for Darian Manson. I'm a fascinated to watch it. Miami is on the road at Clemson. They are 15 and a half point in that favor. It's on the road at Clemson. And this game is I think an early start is when. Hope it's a night game. So I just think like Clemson getting over two touchdowns is so hard to pass up at home. Like even Wake gave Miami a scare down to the end. Yeah, I know. I'll take Miami in this one. I okay. I've lost all faith in Clemson. And you can dad. When does dad will get fired? Will he ever get fired? I do. I think he's pushing the limits at this point. If they go like 500 this year, which is there's a place they get there. You know, they're they won out at Cal last week, which is not a nothing win because that's a long trip to make and and Cal's their frisky,
but like if they go 500 and you never know, man, this stuff can be over in an instant. It just takes a couple boosters getting out of it. You know, it's the biggest thing with that was not the results stink, but the probably his like his process is not modern. It's not modern. He's very stubborn in his ways. It's hindering him. So all right. Well, there you go. There's our games. Hopefully you enjoy your Saturday college football. We will be here to talk about it on Monday.
