Walter Pitts: The Tragic Genius Behind AI | History Hyenas

BABES! Welcome back to History Hyenas with Chris Distefano and Yannis Pappas! On today's episode, the boys are diving deep into the feral, tragic, and absolutely wild story of Walter Pitts—the homeless runaway prodigy who literally laid the mathematical foundation for Artificial Intelligence, neural networks, and modern computers before dropping completely off the deep end! From hiding out in a Chicago park at age 12 to correcting Bertrand Russell’s Principia Mathematica, Walter Pitts went from street urchin to the smartest brain at MIT alongside Warren McCulloch. But when cybernetics pioneer Norbert Wiener enters the picture with top-tier toxic energy, Pitts’ story spirals into an absolute Greek tragedy of burnt doctoral theses, heavy drinking, and total isolation. How did a runaway kid invent the architecture that powers ChatGPT today—and then completely lose his mind? Grab your juice boxes, pull up your compression shorts, and let's go! #HistoryHyenas #WalterPitts #ArtificialIntelligence #HistoryPodcast #ChrisDistefano #YannisPappas Support our sponsors: Go to https://zbiotics.com/HYENAS and use HYENAS at checkout for 15% off any first time orders of ZBiotics probiotics.
