Well, greetings and salutations, everybody. Welcome to the best ambivalent late show on the planet earth. The John Campius show coming from right here in my quaint little convert a garage. I'm, of course, your host John Campius joining us here today from his spook cave. I looked at it. It's all spooked out. Three C films is here. Chris Park. Chris, that looks awesome in there. How you doing? Oh, dude. Thanks, John. It's good to be back. And yeah, one of my favorite months of the year. So I always like to go all out. It looks really good. I also joining us, of course, in his always dapper man cave in there. Jonathan Voicos here. Jonathan, how you doing? Always. Oops. Sorry. I got some feedback fixed it. Maybe always dapper, but I am like, wow, by that five nights of Freddy statue on Chris's background. Yeah. That's a pretty impressive looking thing back there. I do not have any decorations yet, but I do have some costumes planned. So, let's open for that. All right,

guys, thank you so much for joining us here on today's show. And here's how the show's going to go. We're going to start off by talking about a number of topics we got lined up for you guys. Then in the second part of the show is when we're going to take your live comments and questions. If you guys have a thought theory, opinion, question, and issues like me to discuss, go ahead and far right on into the super chats. If you're watching live, and as long as I deem it appropriate to be addressed on the show, I'll address those in the second part of the show. Now, just so you know, the super chats are currently open, but we're already well past halfway full. So I'm going to leave the super chats open for a while, but I'll we'll be turning them off at some point during the show. But then we will get to the questions that got in in the second part of the show. All right, guys, with that down, let's get things started here. Shall we? We're going to kick things off with this. You know, it's definitely not the biggest movie of the year, but it's fair to say one of the most talked about movies of the year was obsession. And you know, I was late to it because I was traveling the weekend. It opened. So I usually if I can't see the movie opening weekend, I usually

put it off for a little bit. So normally when I'm late to a movie that everybody's raving about, I eventually watch and go, it wasn't that great, right? But that wasn't the experience with obsession. Obsession to me was I was just floored by it. And yes, the performances in it were great. But I was especially blown away by the writing. I thought the script was tight. I thought the direction was impeccable. It's just a thoroughly enjoyable movie that just freaked you out in all the right ways. Now we know it's going to get some awards contention, right? So we're expecting that we're going to probably see never ready. Probably get a best actress nomination. I'm expecting we might we might even get a screenplay nomination. Well, that's that's Academy Awards. Maybe you could also get a Golden Globe Award. Not that I care much about the Golden Globes. Well, if it does get a Golden Globe Award, guess what? I bet you guys didn't know that obsession is a comedy. Yeah.

Yuck, it's a comedy because the Hollywood reporter is now reporting a Golden Globe surprise obsession submitted for best musical or comedy category insider site as precedents numerous other genre blurring films. That's just other films that should never have been submitted in comedies. That were submitted, accepted, or nominated at the Golden Globes musical or comedy categories, including Get Out, which never should have been listed as a comedy. The banshee's of Inesheran, which never should have been listed as a comedy. Triangle of sadness, which never should have been listed as a comedy. Poor things. Poor things. I can see an argument. I'll get it right now. The substance, no, Bagonia, no, the Martian, no, a lot of other things along those lines. Here's the thing that completely kills me about this. This is one of the big reasons why one of them, there's many, but one of the main reasons I have absolutely zero respect for the Golden Globes. Other than the fact, and I will always give them their flowers for this,

other than the fact that their show, the actual broadcast is really quite good. I mean, they put the Oscars to shame. I think the broadcast is great. It always is great, but the awards themselves are pointless and meaningless. Besides the fact that you have the Academy, which is like 9,000 professional filmmaking pros who vote on their peers, and the Golden Globes is voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press, which historically has been like 80 people. Aside from that, one of the biggest jokes ever has been this musical or comedy category. First of all, if you want to have separate categories, I don't besmirch you that. What pre-tell does a musical have to do with a comedy? Like why not just say, now we're introducing a third category at the Golden Globes. Yeah, we're going to have a best drama. We're going to have best musical comedy, and we're going to have best slasher film slash documentary. Yeah, best documentary or horror slasher film. That's just one category.

It makes no sense. And while obsession absolutely has a couple of decent laughs in it, which were brilliantly placed just to break up the tension, it was very, very well done. This is not a comedy. Obsession is not a comedy. Now, I'm not going to blame the filmmakers here or the studios because somebody might say accurately so, well, you know, John, in this situation here, it's the distributor that's submitting it for that category, and you're 100% right. But the reason they're doing it is because they know the Golden Globes are a joke, and they know they can submit it. They can put any movie they want into musical or comedy category, because they know that gives them a better shot of number one, getting a nomination, and they know number two, it gives them a better shot of winning. Because you submit, guys, the way it should be submitted, you submit obsession under the best movie category,

best drama movie. It has a shot of getting nominated, but it's certainly not a lock. Oh, but if you take this B level category, if you take this musical or comedy, comedy category, which historically the Golden Globes have proved, they don't care if it's actually a musical or comedy or a not, it's, listen, it's an iron clad lock guarantee obsession is going to get a nomination in that category. So it's, it's a warts picking. It's just a warts pick. And it's, again, just another reason why I have absolutely zero respect for the Golden Globes that they even have a structure that allows this kind of category manipulation. And it's just to, because I, listen, I've talked to a lot of people who've seen and loved obsession that as a piece of art hits them all in many, many, many different ways. I've never heard one person categorize. You know, I love that new comedy obsession. Love that comedy obsession. Anyway, uh, comedy. Chris, you saw this report that it's, it's going to run in the category of musical or comedy, which, uh,

there's music in the movie, I guess. And there are a couple of giggles, I suppose. Um, but I don't know. Look, am I overreacting to this? I don't know. What do you think about them running obsession in best musical or comedy category? Yeah, it's a complete joke like you, like you said, and it's funny. You know, I always thought the Golden Globes were just as prestigious as, not maybe not as prestigious as the Oscars, but I thought it was handled more seriously. And it wasn't over the years. You see things like this and I'll, and you start to realize it's just, it's just who, how can we find a way to invite this famous person to be part of this show? Because it's just really for entertainment. And it's fine. I get it. It's an entertaining show. I love attuned it in for the monologue, at least every time. Uh, so with this and upset, a musical comedy, at this point, why not just add the horror category or, I don't know, something that at least feels more broader, uh, but just best motion picture entertainment or something. I don't know or crowd, please or movie. Uh, and then that way you have your excuse to bring in the popular movies that,

yeah, maybe if you tag on obsession, well, even then, I think obsession would have a fair chance in a drama category, but it's a stack year. And how many nominations do they allow per category? Uh, I, that's a great question. I honestly can't remember how many nominees they have per category. I really, I don't know if they have a set number or not. I'm gonna guess five, but I actually don't know. Jonathan, maybe you can look that up. Yeah. Yeah. Because even then I'm looking at it in the two movie, like a broad move. It's either a drama movie or a musical comedy. And I'm like, there's that's such a large. And again, what does musicals have to do with comedy? By the way, I love the fact that you brought up another issue, Chris. You brought up the issue of like how many times have we watched the Golden Globes and gone, oh, well, the only reason that got nominated was so they could get those stars. I remember the first time I really noticed that this is going back away. Do you remember the movie? I believe it was called the tourist. Okay. Angelina Jolie Johnny Depp. And it's like, that, it wasn't the worst movie. It's not a

terrible movie. Don't get me wrong. But an awards movie it is not. And they nominated that several times all because the Hollywood foreign press wanted Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, who, I mean, are still big names today. But back then they were like, huge names. They wanted them attending. So they gave them nominations. And it's just, oh, God, I hate that so much. I hate that so much. You know, I saw somebody in the live chat. I lost it. I can't see it now. But somebody in the live chat kind of mentioned that they kind of look at obsession as a dark comedy. I don't agree. But I wouldn't argue with you about that. Like I don't think it's the wildest thing in the world if there's somebody like yourself who says, I kind of see it as a dark comedy. I get that. I do. I still don't agree. I can't read the line. But I can't read the line. But you're really, it's, that's not what it's intending in those scenes. It's not intending dark comedy in those scenes.

Yeah. I just, so where does the line get drawn? Are we literally saying here? Like if the gold blobs ever want to get like any sort of credibility to me, you have to start correcting these things because honestly, are we literally saying any movie that has one laugh in it qualifies as a comedy? If that's the case, what movies don't qualify as a comedy? Like I, I just, I just don't know. So again, I'm super happy that obsession guys is going to get some love. I really am. But give it the love in the areas it deserves love. Yeah. Like, no, it's something not a cop out like this. Anyway, whatever you guys think about all this, jump down to the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. All right, guys, with that down, let's move on to this, shall we? Well, talking about movies that became phenomenons, look, the streaming only movie, K-pop demon hunters.

Absolutely shook the world. Like it was the number one streaming movie for like, I don't know, 7,000 weeks. Everybody, every convention I would go to, there was tons of little girls dressed as hunt tricks, which God bless them. That's awesome that they were doing that. Now, I myself, I was not a big fan of the movie. Like personally, I wasn't a big fan of K-pop demon hunters as a movie. I didn't think it was terrible. Don't get me wrong. Oh my God, did I love love, love, love the music. I actually, it pops up in my playlist in my car quite often. I totally love all the songs, all the music. I just think it's, it's incredible musically. I really do love it. But even though I didn't love it at overall as a movie, you cannot deny its success and you cannot deny its impact. But one of the big things that we kind of would bring up a lot when it was having all of its success was this thing really should have been in movie theaters. It really should have been theatrical.

And after it had been out on streaming for like six or seven weeks, Netflix decided to experiment. And remember, it had already been out for like six or seven weeks. And they decided to plop it onto some a limited number of screens for just one weekend. Damn thing made nearly $20 million. In limited theaters for one weekend only six weeks after it had already been or it might have been even more than six weeks. I can't remember exactly. But after it had already been on streaming for a while, will apparently that little experiment and the results of that experiment really caught Ted Sarandas' attention. Because according to reports that out there and this one's at our friends that coming soon, K-pop demon hunters is going to be getting a full proper robust theatrical release. They are going to put this thing in movie theaters before dropping it on streaming. The way Ted Sarandas is qualifying it, he's calling it, let me see if I can get the exact wording here. It's going to get a substantial theatrical a broad substantial theatrical release says Ted

Sarandas, the co-CEO of Netflix. And look, this is a no-brainer. This is the absolute right decision. Now, just because K-pop demon hunters was a huge smash on streaming, that does not necessarily mean we're talking about a $700 million movie in theaters. No, not necessarily. But I will be shocked if this thing doesn't make $400 million or more. And then you put it on Netflix after it's had a successful theatrical run, then it's just going to blow the roof off. It's just absolutely going to blow the roof off. And we've been saying for a year to hear that we have been slowly seeing guys Netflix dabbling and experimenting and investigating theatrical more and more. Obviously, they tip their hand that they were very keen on theatrical when they tried to make a play for Warner Brothers. So I'm not terribly surprised to see it. And we've got, they've got more films

coming to theaters. We were just talking about the new Narnia movie is going to be getting a full theatrical release as well. Oh my god, I just noticed the way. I'm sorry, what? That's what he's talking about. I believe that is roomy. It may be on. It's I think it's on. Yeah, yeah, that's the roomy wig. I recognize it because Anne has the same one. That's a cool. And it color coordinates with your shirt. It's all the more anything different. This is the first time I'm hearing about what K-pop demon was just normal. What? So I mean, very smart move on their part. No brainer. I think this is going to work out very well for them as long as the movie is half decent. And I don't know. I mean, Chris, I don't know how you top that soundtrack because to me, like every single song, like, yeah, golden got all the attention. I don't even think that was the best song. I think that was the third best song in the movie. I think this is what it sounds like is like a completely beautiful moving energetic thing. I think the the what was it called? Idol, your idol. Your idol.

I thought that song was just an absolute emperor. I mean, like every single song is just I don't know how you top it, but I still think this is a great move. You saw this story. What do you think about it? No, yeah, K-pop demon, that it's insane how the wave of success that got. And it's one of those cases where I wish I could peek into the multiverse and see if it would have even got a fraction of that if it hit theaters first as opposed to Netflix the way it did, right? Like who knows? It very well could have, but I doubt it. It's one of those movies that because I think it hit streaming it just hit a broad audience so quickly and it became everywhere. You know, one's one said it got out there. I said Halloween that year. Kids everywhere with it. I mean, this is a knockoff wig. They just had it as as anime girl at Walmart. That's a way to get around copy, right? Right. But this is awesome. And it's going to be nice to see then how many butts show up in seats. And I do agree with you. It'll be big. I don't know if we're seeing 7,800

or even close to the viewership that would have just from Netflix, but it's going to be big. The only other thing with it too is your right is how do you top that soundtrack? How do you top all that? I'm so excited to see what they do. And I built this in a 2029 release date or 2028. It's going to be a while. I remember we've seen that issue with streaming shows. I think there was a report. I know this is a movie, but there's a report, you know, long gaps in between projects do have a decrease in audience. Will that apply, especially when this is going to theaters? It also lets me know Netflix, I think, was serious about wanting to get into the movie industry. You know, they were up to buy Warner Brothers. They were talking up a game of we're going to give it a shot. And now they're really putting their money where their mouth was and attempting to do that stuff. So I think that's cool to see because even like the movie Ray Gunn that they have a big, I mean, that's going to have a limited little theatrical release. I'm going to want to see that there. So very happy. It's cool that there is going to be a wide release. I got invited to

a screening of Ray Gunn last night. Did you go? Where are I? I don't accept press screen. I didn't go. But they had they had a press screening of it. Netflix held a screening of it last night at the AMC Burbank 16. I don't know how fun. Tempting. That was tempting. Yeah. But but I do have my rule. By the way, I'll show this to Chris. Yeah. There's a nice and in her roomy outfit as well. That's my wife, by the way. Anyway, guys, question is for you. What do you think about this? Apparently K-pop demon hunters Netflix has learned their lesson. They're like, yeah, work. This thing's going to get a big theatrical release. I think that's a brilliant move on their part. And I think it's only going to help it overall both with theatrical and of course, on streaming. Do you think this is a good idea? Bad idea? Whatever you guys think, jump down into the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. All right, guys, with that down, let's move on to this.

Well, don't look now, but we're already in October. Today is of course October first. And being the first day of the month, we thought we would take a few minutes here and talk about and highlight a whole bunch of the biggest movies in our most anticipated movies that are coming out in the month of October. We did this for September and you guys seem to dig it a lot. And we're not going to go over every single movie coming out because we would be here all day, but we're going to highlight the top 10. As a matter of fact, I have to at least highlight two honorable mentions, guys, that are not on this list. Okay. One is Sebastian stands Fjord, which I think looks so good. An absolute 100% contender for best musical or comedy at the Golden Globes. If you've seen the trailer, you know I'm being facetious, but Fjord is Sebastian stainless straight and then John to Toro's the only living pickpocket in New York, which some people are now. This episode is brought to you by Nordstrom. For 125 years, Nordstrom has been part of your story, the stylist who found the perfect outfit for your big interview, the first pair of walking shoes for your one-year-old, the tomato soup you shared with your sister at the cafe. These are the moments that make Nordstrom, Nordstrom, bigger, small, we're here for all of it,

celebrating 125 years with new moments still add, discover it all in Nordstrom stores and at Nordstrom.com. An Oscar nomination for this. It looks really good. Again, I highly encourage you guys, go look up the trailers for Fjord and then go look up the trailers for the only living pick pocket in New York because they both look great. Okay. That said, here are the 10 films that I really want to highlight. The most anticipated, they're only in order of release state, just you know, they're not in order of anticipation, they're in order of release state. So here we go. We've got Digger today. We've got Digger and Verity coming out. I'm going to be talking about Verity in a little minute here. So Diggers coming out, that's of course the Tom Cruise movie that got all of our attention at Sin McConaughey. I mean, it just looks so good. We got Verity, which is of course, Anne Hathaway and Josh Harnett and Dakota Johnson is in that social reckoning coming out.

Talking about trailers and presentations that got everybody's attention, other mommy coming out with Jessica Chastain again, great contender for best musical or comedy at the Golden Globes. Then we got Mahershala Ali working with one of the directors who was attached to Blade, who was going to direct him in Blade. They got together and made another movie together called your mother, your mother, your mother again, the Senate, they haven't marketed this movie very much. The Cinemacon presentation looks really, really good. A little bit in the John Wick Vane, a bit but with heavier drama. So that looks really interesting. We've got Andrew Koji, who I love, love this cat. Anyway, we in Street Fighter, then probably the movie that caught my attention the most at Cinemacon was whale fall. That's simply the most stressful trailer I might have ever seen in my life. I've never been more stressed watching a trailer than that. Then of course we've got Clayface coming out

on the 23rd, which I'm very stoked about. This one's really interesting. I think Amy Adams, General Ortega, Clara and the Sun. Now this is based on a book which I have never read and I really don't know anything about. But it's Tyco with TD's new movie. And so I'm really curious. We haven't seen one from them in a bit. So I'm really curious to see how this turns out. The presentation for it at Cinemacon look pretty positive and look pretty encouraging. So we'll see. And then the one movie this year that I think is going to be able to contend against Forgotten Island for best animated movie of the year is Wildwood. This thing comes out October, 3rd, 3rd, I mean, oh my god. It's gorgeous. A gorgeous and emotional and moving and imaginative. Now I don't know if the movie is going to turn out great or not. I mean, we'll find out. But it certainly looks like a strong contender for best animated film of the year. So anyway, Chris, we got a whole bunch here from Digger, which the reviews have been very, very

mixed, which is too bad. Variety, social reckoning, other mommy, your mother, your mother, your mother, street fighter, whalefall, Clayface, Claire and the Sun. Wildwood, it's a good month for movies. Are there any that maybe I didn't include on this list that you've got your eyes on? And then out of the list that we have, what are the two or three that are really standing out to you that you're really excited about? No, you know, you asked me this and you sent me the show notes before and I took a look and that's really about it. Unless you know, you have some streaming or limited release stuff and something like, you know, with the horror season, the latest VHS mix state, but even that's always a mixed bag of like, could be two good segments or could be all all about looking at at this. The ones, especially his other mommy, very curious about, um, social reckoning as well. Just because I would like it to just even be as fraction as good as, um, the first movie, I don't know why the names live in mine. Social network. Social network. Yeah. Street fighter surprisingly, I think it looks so fun. I think it looks so fun and I,

I hope it doesn't turn out to be another borderlands because that's what I felt when seeing the cast and all that at first. Oh my god. The trailers, I don't know, it seems like they're leaning into the cheese of it. Um, Clayface, another one too, just for the outlook of the DC right now, I feel like they're, they're on a big high with lanterns and, you know, some of the stigma that was super girls maybe gone away. Clayface is going to be that another thing where eyeballs are going to be on it to see how it goes and I think it looks good and creepy. So all in all, it looks like it's going to be a good October. I'll tell you what, for me, uh, the ones that have my attention the most here, I got to start at the very, very, very top are two that keep going back and forth on it. Other mommy and social reckoning. I meant, man, I'll tell you what, they showed us the other mommy stuff. It's in the con and I, I like a good horror movie, just like everybody else, but I'm not a horror aficionado per se. And horror movies don't really scare me too much. I can just

appreciate them for what they do. Yeah. This trailer freaked me out. That's creepy. It freaked me out. And it's Jessica Chastain. And for you, any of you guys who've watched me for any long extended period of time, you know, I've got a real soft spot for Jessica Chastain. Ever since I, like, saw her, for me, my real introduction to her was the help, which I just thought, I just thought, think that's such a beautiful, amazing movie. And I've loved her ever since and to see her some like this is incredible, but the social reckoning. You've got arguably the greatest screenwriter in the world writing it. And he's also, correct me from wrong Jonathan, but I think he's also directing it. Is he not? Yeah, he's, I believe he's directing. Yeah. So he did like the, what was it? The Chicago 12 or the Chicago 13, whatever that, that was called. And he did, I love, he did Molly's game, which I absolutely love Molly's game. And look, like you were pointing out Chris, social network was just such a profound movie. Like it was just such a great way of looking into the history. It's a beautiful

way of doing that kind of stuff. And I think this looks like it takes it up another couple of notches. Not only because you've got the cast, what's that? Chicago seven. It was a Chicago seven. Right. I eventually, I just had to keep saying numbers. I would eventually come up with it. So I mean, the cast is incredible, especially because you've got Academy Award winning best actress, Mikey Madison, who could have start jumping into like every movie she was offered after winning the Oscar for a Nora, but she didn't. She even famously turned down a Star Wars film, I think. And like she was waiting for the right role. And this looks like the right role. This could be a best, to me, this could be a best picture contending. Some of the other ones, I mean, a lot of them look very interesting. I already talked about whale fall clay face, clairs, unwildwood. But yeah, I think the two that are really standing out to me is social reckoning and other mummy. Let me say something about Street Fighter. I still think this looks like one of the worst movies of the year.

The popcorn bucket changed my mind, John. Come on. I got. Oh, I did like that popcorn bucket. I did. I do like that popcorn bucket. By the way, did you guys see the clay face popcorn bucket? Oh, no. It's brilliant. So it's a popcorn bucket, right? With all the the stylings of a clay face, right? Of clay, right? But in the middle of the popcorn bucket is a clay hand that also serves to hold your soda. So your soda can be held in the middle of the bucket with popcorn on the around on the outside of it. It's actually very clever. Very clever. But okay, back to Street Fighter for a second. I think this truly looks like it could be a rassy contender. I think it looks like one of the worst films of the year. But, but I also recognize I've seen a few glimpses of things that have made me wonder, not believe, but wonder if I might just have a really good time watching it.

And I'll tell you what started to crack it for me, Chris. The thing that started to crack it for me was that latest trailer. And it's just a stupid gimmicky line. But I thought if they handled the rest of the humor in this movie like this, it could be a winner. It's at the end of the one of the trailers when Cody Rhodes pulls up. What's his name? Gile? Yeah. Cody Rhodes pulls up in his car and he's got the three scars down his face. And I think the guy's name is Dan Sussan Gile. Who did that to you? And Cody Rhodes goes, well, I don't know, Dan. If you know if anybody in this tournament who fights with three claws, which I have to admit, I was like, that's funny. And the timing. And so if they can, if they can make the, if they can pepper the movie with that feel, I might actually end up having a good time. I don't know where you're going to say John. Well, that's the thing. It's, I'll wait for the reviews. But to me, it seems like the movie's very well aware of itself and knows what it is. And as long as it's like, it can make fun of itself.

But also have some good, like, funny, fun action and whatever. I don't care if it's cartoonish. Then that's fine. Like, that's not, sure, it could be razzy contender. But to me, it's like, no, it knew what it was doing. It was well aware of itself. If it's like trying to take itself serious, and it's kind of like the douche bag of summer movies, then it's going to get, it's going to give me bad. The douche bag of summer movies. I, again, I, I still would put my money on this is going to be a really crafty movie. But I'm going to go into it as I do every time. I'm going to go into it with an open mind and see what happens. But yeah, for, for me, easily, right, the top of the list, I got social reckoning it. Other mommy, just curious, Jonathan, like you see this lift. You had to pick, you know, one or two or maybe three that are really like really at the top of the list for you that you're excited about seeing which ones would they be. Okay. Seeing digger today, but that's not necessarily like any more on the top of my list. I mean, one, because I only have to wait a few more hours. See it. Social reckoning, whale fall or my top top two,

followed by a wildwood and clay face. Yeah. I want, I, it wasn't for the fact that we had both other mommy and social, I probably put clay face up there too. But anyway, guys, again, I'm just going to say once again, just real quick, another month this year that's just stacked. Yeah. Yeah. This is a good year. I did month. Yeah. This has been a good year and October promises to be really special too. And who knows? Maybe even Street Fighter will be okay. Anyway, guys, question is for you. What do you think about this? We've got some good eating in October as movie fans, which one of these films are the ones that are right up there at the top of your most anticipated list, whatever you guys think, jump down into the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. Okay, guys, with that down, let's move on to this, shall we?

You know, saw the previews for Verity. And I thought it could be interesting. I mean, first of all, you got Josh Hartnett in there, which I love that the last couple of years we've had a resurgence of Josh Hartnett because I really liked the guy. What was the name of that little action film that his kind of version of bullet train that was out. He said he was on an airplane. I remember. No, not fly risk. No, no, that was the one in the airport. I can't remember, but that was a fun movie. That was a fun little movie. So I really enjoyed him in that. And so he's got a little bit of a resurgent fighter flight. There you go. Korn cutter cam is saying, you know what, that nobody nobody in the world went to go see it. It was like it was empty theaters. I don't know today, but it was a fun movie. It was a fun little movie. And so I really say and and half the way who I think is just is literally I think she is one of the world's greatest actresses. I think she's incredible. And then Dakota Johnson, who is not Gal Gadot, but not a great

actress. But it looked like maybe this movie could change all that because it looked like it had some promise and it's a love book. They gave out after the presentation for Verity at Cinemacon, they gave everybody there a copy of the novel and and took the novel and she read it and she loved it. So we went in to go see it last night and came with me. And if I look happy right now, it's because I'm not in the theater watching it anymore. That gives me great joy that I'm not in the theater watching it anymore. Look, here's the thing. This is the thing about Verity. There's not a lot that I could point to and say this was garbage and this was garbage. It's not that it was simply this. This was a slow, not slowly paced slow, pouring, uneventful, unnecessary movie that I was just sitting there constantly tapping my fingers going, when are

they going to do something interesting? When is somebody going to say something interesting? At the heart of it, there's a little bit of a mystery in there that and it's an interesting mystery. They do. The formation of the story is an interesting mystery that they start to very slowly unfold as you're going along. But it was just such a dry experience. It was dry. And I just, you know, unlike a lot of other movies, you see, I did find myself looking at my watch, saying it's like, how much longer we got to go in this thing. And look, anybody who's read the book has been quick to say there's a big twist, right? And they even, they probably, that's not it. They promised down the trailers. Oh, a big twist, right? But here's the thing about twist, guys. When you look at movies with great twists, six cents, usual suspects. Lady in the water. Oh, go. Lady in the water. Uh, plan of the apes. Here's the thing. Before you get to the twist,

those are already really good movies. Usual suspects is one of the great movies before you even get to the ending. Six cents is a wonderful movie before you get to the twist at the end. A plan of the apes is an iconic movie before you get to the twist at the end. Lady in the water is a giant sack of shit before you get to the twist at the end. But everyone's is rage. Yeah, because, but, but, but, but unknowingly, you're right on the nose there, because then there are some movies that have twists where the movies just serve as a setup to the twist. Like where the movie becomes about the twist. And that's not a good twist. And they get to the twist at the end and like, yeah, okay, I guess that's one way of looking at it. And it's it just ends up being a big nothing burger. And I, oh, God, guys, I hate being this guy. I really do. But we got to talk about Dakota Johnson for a second. Oh, um, you know, for a number of years, as everybody else has been kind of souring on Dakota,

Johnson, I kind of held the line all because of one movie, peanut butter felca. Oh, that I actually think and I still do. I think she gave a really solid performance in Peter Butterfalka. But because of that one movie, I've kind of held on to that line. But it's been getting harder and harder, my film loving, brethren, to hold that line every time I would see her on screen, because every time she's on screen with that bland, soulless, no personality, side fest. I look for all I know she's a wonderful human being. I'm just saying it's become harder and harder. And you know what? For me, guys, Madame Webb wasn't even the breaking point for me. Because let's face it, her performance was not the biggest problem with Madame Webb. But

Madame Webb wasn't even the breaking point for me. It was that what was the name of the one she just did with Chris Evans and Pedro Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. Yeah, I don't know either. It's up the I can't remember guys guys in the live chat fired in. What was the name of that one again? It was that movie that my wife and her best friend were like totally so stoked to see because they love Peter Pascal. It was that movie, the materialist. Thank you. Abdu you, I think, was the first one to throw that in there. That was the that was the one for me that was the breaking point that I came out of that movie going that girl can't act. And so now I'm thinking, okay, redemption time. We've got Verity. She's acting alongside Josh Hartnett and Anne Hathaway. This will elevate her performance, right? No. No. And again, I don't like I do not like coming on our show and like I'll criticize movies because

these are big collective projects and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. It happens. I hate coming on my show and directly criticizing a performance of somebody that I just don't think belongs in this job. And as much as a pain is me to say it, I'm just at that point with Dakota I keep on wanting to say Dakota fanning Dakota Johnson. I'm at that point Dakota Johnson. This she just does not have the ability to emote anything. And I and it really and again, that wasn't the biggest problem with the movie, but it was one that again really stood out to me. So Verity for me is a pass and as a side note, my wife who's a big fan of the book also walked down, it's like, nah, this isn't it. This doesn't work. And I think let me pull it up here. Yeah, it doesn't have great reviews. I'm not the only one. I mean, it's got a better than I thought it would have. It's got a 44, which is not good, but that's better than I thought it would be. And by the way, Josh Hartnett, great in it and Hathaway, great in it. But yeah, anyway, there's that.

But not a great story though, right? So it's you know what? And I think underneath it all, there is a great story which is executed really blandly, so bland, no pace. Anyway, Chris, I don't know if you've had a chance to see this movie or not. If you did, what did you think about it? If not, what have your thoughts been about it? Have you been looking forward to it? What do you think? Yeah, very unfortunate to hear your thoughts because just like your wife, my wife is also a fan of Colleen Hoover. She reads those books and Funny enough, Verity was one of her favorites out of the Colleen Hoover books. And it was the one that whenever it was announced and set photos came up, I told her and she got excited because she said, Oh, the book's actually very interesting and it could be a really good movie. Here, you say that I know and now I'm going to have to sit through something so boring. I feel bad, but I drag her to so much stuff as well that she has to sit through. She's not interested in. So I got to do it back. But you know, so I can't speak on the movie itself yet because we have not seen it. But at least on the Colleen Hoover side of things, you know, it ends with us was that big success, whether it was because of the popularity of the book

or the behind scenes drama that got it all that press. But then you have the movies that came after like regretting you reminders of him now Verity and I have seen regretting you. I have seen reminders of him. I am just not a fan of Colleen Hoover's stories the way she I thought it ends with us was fine for what it was. But the other two movies I just I could not get into and it's interesting ideas that like this is a book someone sat down, you know, read this and it's actually maybe more palatable or more enjoyable. I can't imagine then whether this keeps on going for Colleen. I don't know. I'm not even sure if her movies are vacant as much as they would hope. I'm trying to look at the box office numbers and regretting you and reminders of him did not do well. But Verity looks to actually be doing decently. I think it's made because the star power most likely. But even then I feel like I didn't see any marketing for this. Maybe y'all are not the target dark demographics. It's not showing up on my Google searches. But still it's I'm surprised it's even going to have a $35 million opening. You haven't looked at

shirtless Josh Hartnett. Oh, plenty of times. I actually have seen a good amount of marketing. And I'm not surprised. I am not surprised at all that if it makes like 30, 40 million opening weekend because again, like my wife and all of her friends love the book. Yeah. So it's got that world. It's one of those movies where it's like, I have the audience is there and I'm not it. I again, I'm just flabbergasted that you chose Dakota Johnson to be the lead of this. So I I don't know. And listen, it then it tries to spice things up. It is minor, minor, minor, this isn't a plot thing, guys. Not a plot thing. Minor, minor detail. Something that happens in it. Now you know me. I love filthy. I love filthy in my movies. I eat it up. I love the filthy. But I it I also kind of bothers my sensibilities when it's just gratuitous. Like it does when I love filthy being there when the filthy makes sense when the filthy fits in when the filthy is a part of the flow. Right. Like this is like boring, boring, boring. Oh, Dakota Johnson's naked masturbating

in a bathtub. You know what? You just made it. I just sold my shoeing is sold out all of a sudden. It's a ticket skyrocket. But I mean, but I just kind of felt it was like it was just kind of dropped is like, really? You're doing this scene after this scene that they just felt jarring. It just like felt totally jarring and out of place. And somebody saying that should be in the marketing. But anyway, there's that guys question is for you. What do you think about this? Now listen, just because it didn't work for me and I didn't like it. Remember, even though it's a bad score, 44% of the critics who saw it like did so. Almost about it. Are you looking forward to this movie? Are you not? What have you been hearing about it? Whatever you guys think, jump down into the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. All right guys,

that down. Let's move on to this. Well, after the triumph that was Superman that I enjoyed so much, my enthusiasm and energy then turned to Supergirl, which, you know, I love the casting. I still do, even after seeing Supergirl, I still love the casting of Millie Alcock. I love the short little scene she had in Superman. Now granted, like I've always said, it was never going to be a massive movie. It is a B level character, a B level derivative character at that. But still, I was excited about Supergirl and I was convinced it was going to be good. Well, at one point in my life, I was convinced Santa Claus was real and that didn't work out so much either. And Supergirl ended up being, and I understand there are some people out there. There are some people watching this show that enjoyed Supergirl. And if you did, that's awesome. I'm jealous. But I have to speak for my own personal point of view, which was Supergirl was pretty bad. It was pretty bad and it was a pretty much a letdown and word got out that it was pretty bad. And while it was never going to be

a giant movie in the first place, the box office ended up being pretty damn disappointing. Well, then the question came, can it find life on streaming? And at first, it looked pretty good because the numbers came out. And while we didn't have specific data, it did show that Supergirl was the number one streaming movie on HBO Max. Great. But of course, HBO Max has fewer subscribers than Paramount Plus or Peacock or obviously Netflix and Disney Plus and just about everything else. Third in a jujitsu competition until you found out that the jujitsu competition was against eight-year-olds. Then my third place finished does not sound so good. The reality is, here's the data.

Supergirl ended up with its opening for you. Now remember, you got Neilson was kind of measuring by different days depending on when it started tracking it. In its first four days, Supergirl amassed 304 million minutes of viewing. In its just its first three days, Blue Beetle got more than that. The flash got more than that. Black Adam got more than that. Aquaman got its first six days counted. So it was at the top list of 685 superman in its first days in its first six days estimated 835 million from from when they started tracking it. But Supergirl, while it was number one on HBO Max, which is great. That's the good news. I got a bronze medal in the jujitsu competition. The bad news is the gold and silver went to two eight-year-olds. That's the bad news. And the bad news here is that Supergirl's debut on streaming while topping HBO,

it actually ended up with fewer than Black Adam, which got the rock. No shame in that. But the flash it finished with less than Blue Beetle guys. It finished with less viewership than Blue Beetle. So when we were talking on the show a few weeks ago, you know, and Supergirl was at the top of the charts for HBO. I'm like, but why? I remember I even brought up this question. I'm like, okay, so more people are watching on streaming. Do you want more people watching on streaming? Like, wouldn't you rather people just forget about Supergirl as you're trying to rebuild the D as you're trying to build the foundation for this DCU and you did great with creature commandos. You did great with Superman. You did well with peacemaker, notwithstanding the final episode, but the rest of season I thought was great. You got Clayface coming out, which everybody's excited about. Do we want? Land turns is killing it. Do you want people going back and watching Supergirl? Because I don't think that you do. And it turns out that DC maybe

is lucky that according to the charts, yep, not many people did. Well, I mean, a whole bunch of people now, but I mean, not relative to the other DC offerings. Anyway, Chris, we do have a new Black Adam benchmark. Yes. 632 million, a million minutes in three days. That is a benchmark. That's the new benchmark in terms of a number of minutes views. That is one 632 million minutes for forever now be known as one black Adam. So Chris, you see these numbers. Honestly, I'm not surprised by this. I mean, I think it got the viewership it did, but at the end of the day, it was just a bad movie. And it looks like now this kind of is the final chapter in its failure. And hopefully now they can move on. They can move on and put it behind them and and focus on, you know, wrapping up lanterns great. Hopefully Clayface is great. Hopefully, man of tomorrow is great. We'll see. But

yeah, we surprised to see these numbers. What stands out to you the most about them? What do you think? I guess I really, in my heart, no, not surprised, but there's always that wonder, you know, because I think there are cases where a movie maybe doesn't do as well on theaters. But when it hits streaming, and a surprising amount of people actually do check it out, give it a chance, it does much better there. I mean, seeing it like this, where you have the option, and even though it was first, comparing those numbers, which by the way, what is that metric? 30 really minutes viewed? Why can't we just say about this Betty House older than that? Because I don't even ought to calculate that in terms of how many times it was watched. But that's another thing in terms of this though. I also wonder on the James Gunn side of things, because now he's having a deal with, you know, studio decisions where I bet he was hoping supergirls going to be a trilogy. We're going to include her in this movie. And she's included in man of tomorrow, just things like this where the audience wasn't really there excited for her. She didn't bring in the eyeballs. They hope does he

lower her part in man of tomorrow? Does he maybe just not include her in the marketing then? Is that maybe that that'll be the repercussion of it? Like I do think there's got to be some change. I don't think you just plow forward. You know, there's too much of a risk with everything going on in Warner Brothers to just well, let's just keep spending money on that character. Maybe it'll pop off the next time. So to be that's the more side of it is I wonder how James Gunn handles that thing that studio heads have to do with it is that shift he's got his plan, but I think his plan is very much based on every movie having that level of success to keep the next thing going. Yeah, I don't I mean, I think if there was any repercussions from it, I definitely don't think we're going to see supergirl too. Yeah, too. Yeah. I don't think they're going to alter their plans for how they're going to use her in the universe though. I think they'll see her because again, I think the character is a good character. Oh, yeah. Really outcasting. Oh, yeah, I think the casting for it is absolutely perfect. They just wrote them. They just got a really bad script

and the director didn't do it any favors. And it's a really that's the thing that surprised me the most. It's a great director. The guy who directed is great and but everybody has a bad date the office. So that is that guys. Question is for you. What do you think about this? I mean, yeah, supergirl was top of the HBO chart, but when you put it against streaming as a whole, I mean, we take a look at the numbers now coming from Wilson and actually got less people watching it and less amount time watching it than watch Blue Beetle when it debuted. That's not I mean, no shade on Blue Beetle. Yeah, watch it. I like blue beetle. I like blue beetle. I thought more people should have watched it. I thought it was good. Yeah, but let's be honest, nobody watched it and so but more people watched it than supergirl. Anyway, whatever you guys think about this, jump down to the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. All right, guys,

with that down, let's move on to this. Well, we do have in just a couple of weeks a brand new Marvel Disney plus television series coming in Vision Quest, which they are hailing as the conclusion of the WandaVision trilogy. Of course, the first one being WandaVision, second one being Agatha Long and now Vision Quest, one division by the way to this day is still like the gold standard. It's I think the gold standard of Marvel on Disney plus. I think it's still by far the best thing they've done. Agatha All Long, which was a very interesting choice to make that show, ended up being way more entertaining than I thought it would be. I agree. Yeah, I think it ended up being better than it had any business being and it ended up being really quite enjoying, enjoyable. And now we've got Vision Quest. And you know, I didn't really give it a lot of thought. It's like, okay, you're going to do one with Vision. I like Vision. I love Paul Bettany, but I was an excited for it. Then came the news. Then came the news that James Spader was going to be

reprising his role as Ultron. And then I was like, Oh, okay, okay, that that could be interesting. Then the first trailer was Dynamite. And now what they're calling the final trailer, the latest Vision Quest final trailer has come in. And oh my God, listen, ideally you would love it. You want all your trailers to be good. But ideally, you would love your final trailer to be the best one. You want all of them to be good, but you want that final trailer to be the best one, not to be the one that makes people lose interest. Oh my God, this trailer is spectacular. I loved it because in one short trailer, it managed to touch on all the main story threads that they're going to be examining. Vision struggling with his own sense of identity in the trailer. Check the family issues like, wait a minute, I've got a son out there. That storyline addressed in

the trailer. Check. And then Ultron, which if you remember how Avengers Age of Ultron ended, this is no retcon. This fits perfectly with the way they ended that. And that he's kind of living as a tenant in Vision's DreamScape world. And they have this kind of adversarial relate familial relationship and check. And then in this one, they teach something that they didn't before. Ultron wants out and he wants to finish what he started. And all that kind of something. Then some quick glimpses of fight sequences and stuff like this. And I'll tell you what, by the way, this shot in the trailer, as he's looking in the mirror and he's seeing his true self in the mirror, I thought was great. And you know, one of my favorite moments of my career, was, you know, I've basically had chance to interview everybody. But one of my favorite moments of my career was Age of Ultron. And Jonathan, you might remember, back when Age of Ultron was coming

out, that was right around the time that I was starting to get other people on the staff to go and cover these junkets and everything because I didn't like doing them anymore. But when I saw that James Spader was on the interview list for the junket, I'm like, oh, yeah, I'm going to go do, I'm going to cover this one myself because I was also watching the black list at the time, which I love him. I love that show. I didn't finish well, but I love the black list. Love that show. And to get to go in there and sit down and talk with James Spader, who I got to do the interview with him and Paul Bettany together, which is great. I've loved Paul Bettany ever since, what was it called in Night's Tale? I love it since the Night's Tale. Oh, and he's so good in Night's Tale. And the rate is, yeah. So that was just absolutely one of the biggest pleasures of my career. So I think the dynamic between Paul Bettany and James Spader looks fantastic. It looks like they're not going to cheap out on the action. They certainly doesn't look like they're cheaping out

on the spectacle. There's going to be some philosophical questions involved about. Part of like, who am I? If I am all of that guy's memories, am I that guy or am I not that guy? Like, I think that's going to be interesting to explore. Anyway, I loved what I saw. Chris, I mean, I'm just not going to sure who I loved what I saw. I mean, could it end up being another secret wars, which I also thought looked really good. And we saw that turned out. But I know, what do you think about this trailer and where's your expectations right now for Vision Quest? Yeah. And so when it comes to Disney plus shows, I dislike more than I like them. I agree with you on WandaVision and Loki to me. Those are the gold standard. And in terms of the shows that I just thought were great. Worst, and then you have the shows that I like I enjoyed, like Falcon Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, everything else in between. I just felt so indifferent. And it's gotten to the point now that whenever Disney does announce a new Disney plus show, I just I have I feel nothing to that announcement. And so with Vision Quest coming up, I was like, OK, I do I'm curious about what happened to White Vision. But I wasn't jumping up and down

or like so looking forward to it watching this final trailer. If I had no nothing about Vision Quest, and I just watched as a new Marvel project, I would have that trailer would have ended. I would have turned you and said, wow, that movie looks good. When does that come to theaters? Because that's what it looks like. It looked and actually looked pretty cinematic, pretty big scale. A lot of crazy things going on. And I remember even judging it whenever we found out James Spader as Ultron was coming back, not because of the character, because I wanted that. But when we heard he'd mainly be in human form, I was like, oh, it's going to be a budget friendly. Really? This looks expensive. Looks like they did a lot of crazy stuff in there. And you're right. Those philosophical questions. I love them. It's like, who am I if I have his memories? But I'm not really him, the sun angle, and finally being the the trilogy Concluder for the Wand of Vision. I'm in for this. I think this looks cool. And I hopefully goes out with the bang at very curious if they do set it up where it ends in Ultron does peep out. And maybe they do something with them in the future. And if not, still cool to have them in there for one last romp. But I also remember being a little bit burned

when they brought back like a bombination and she hawk, which is like, I just like character, I've been wanting to see come back see what they do with it. Hopefully it's good. I was also even surprised they just let it out of the bag. Now Ultron is going to be an adversary because earlier trailers made it seem like he's just kind of casually there. And he's just kind of like a separate little devil on the voice of Vision's shoulder or something. But here's like, oh no, he's got plans and he's coming for the vision and all that. Yeah. I again, the whole concept of it, I think is just wonderful. And the budget thing about it too, like who knows, maybe we'll see a lot of it and maybe it'll be more budget friendly. Again, it is a Disney plus show. By the way, I was reminded in the live chat. I accidentally said secret wars. I meant secret invasion. Oh, right. For about the ones that that did not turn out so good with secret invasion, of course. So I mean, we'll see the you're right. The bomb bringing back a bomb nation is something I waited for for a long time. And that was horrible as were most things in she hawk. But everything but but most things in she

hawk. But yeah, but here's the interesting thing too. I was having a discussion in the live chat with somebody about this earlier today, which was I bet you anything that this is really going to set up doomsday because this last show coming up before doomsday. And that's sound logic. But everybody needs to remember this when they were filming vision quest. Remember doomsday was originally not coming out in December. It was originally going to come out before Spider-Man brand new day. Yeah. And when they were shooting vision quest, it was still when doomsday was already going to have been out in theaters. Now that doesn't mean that in the meantime, like in the months since they shot the show and had it all ready to go that maybe they could have taken a day gone back to the sound stage and shot a little post credit scene to sort of tie into doomsday. I mean, they could do that. But

if you're going into vision quest, expecting it to be like narratively speaking a set up for doomsday, it's not because I'd rather not be. And it really couldn't be because when they shot this thing, they thought doomsday would already have been out in theaters for a while. So this actually comes up for them. So could they have thrown in a few things that kind of do a wink and a nod to sending up doomsday? They could throw that in, but it's just not going to be an important narrative part of it just to keep that in mind before we see it. And it's just coming down a couple of weeks, guys. We've been talking about this show for years. Oh, yeah. And like we're finally here. We're finally on the precipice of it coming out. And I'm very excited about it. Anyway, guys, question is for you. All right, guys, with that down, let's get over and start taking your live question shall we? Just as I said off the beginning of the show, we did turn off the

super chats midway through the show. They had totally filled up. But don't worry, we will open up the super chats again on tomorrow show. And now let's get over to the ones you guys fired in here, shall we? And we're going to start thing off here with Mitch who writes, John, what character not yet confirmed or rumored to be in the MCU after secret wars would you like to see? I personally would love to see alpha flight. I mean, look, obviously as a Canadian superhero team, obviously, I would love to see vindicators ascoach, Pock, you know, North Star. I would love to see alpha flight on the big screen. I do not think they're ever going to do it. I mean, I don't think there's a big demand for a lesser known Canadian superhero team to be in the MCU. I get I would love it. And I hope they do it. But I don't think the chances are good. I'm going to go back to the same answer I always give. I've been I've been giving the same answer for over a decade. Bishop. I love bishop. I mean, I always liked the bishop character, but it was in during the events of age,

I almost said age of Ultron in age of apocalypse. It was during the the storyline of age of apocalypse that I really just bishop became one of my favorites. So I would love to see bishop in the MCU. That's what I'd love to see. All right. Next up, Gisea C writes, October, official month of horror ghost monsters, slashes, thrills and chills. And we got other mommy coming. You can't wait. So naturally you must ask, what's your favorite road trip movie? What? Oh, God. What are even some road trip movies? I mean, there's that one with Zach Alphanakis and Robert Downey Jr. That I can't remember the name of the film off the top of my head right now, but that one was a pretty fun one. Guys, throw in throwing some names. Throw in some names there of some road trip movies. And I'll see if there's one. Yeah, due date was an end of that movie. Thank you very much. Due date was run. Euro trip. Somebody saying Euro trip. Yeah, no, Euro trip will not be will not be up there among one of my favorites. It will not be

Euro trip. Thelma Louise is a great one. That's another good one. Thanks for putting that one in their markets. Oh, yeah. How could I not think of planes, trains and automobiles? The great John Candy. Yeah. Oh, that one. Yeah, I'm going to go planes, trains and automobiles. That's got to be it. Oh, yeah, that's another great one. Clark, I get that is a road made the green book, which by the way, by the way, I do not understand why people do not give this movie its proper due. Green book is an amazing movie. It won those Oscars for reason, but I just keep watching people pit shade on it. It's a great movie. I don't understand what's about some people anyway. I wouldn't say hang over as a road trip movie. I wouldn't say that's a destination movie. I don't think that's a road trip movie, but yes, I'm going to I'm going to go with the you guys gave us all the great ones. Those

are some really, really good ones. All right. What's next up here? We've got Drew who writes James gun confirmed that Matthew Lillard isn't Barry Allen. Do you think that if Andrea Arzona wasn't one woman that he would confirm that to? No, because all the first reports were that Arzona was going to be Maxima. James gun didn't come out and deny those reports. There have been there have been a million reports and rumors that James gun never addresses. Right. Now what James guns criteria is for what he will respond to online and what he doesn't respond to online. I don't know what that criteria is. But you can't simply say, oh, because he's not denying these other ones, that means those ones are true, not at all, because he didn't come out and deny that she was Maxima. That doesn't mean she's Maxima. He's not denying that she's wondering, well, he's not denying 99 out of 100 rumors that come

out there. So look, could she be Wonder Woman? Of course, she could be, but I don't think him not coming out and denying it is any sort of evidence at all that that she's Wonder Woman. I mean, she might end up being Wonder Woman, but that's not evidence that that's the case. All right. Next up, JICSC writes in the past, you got tired with all the fake deaths in the MCU. Well, yeah, because they kept doing it over and over and over again. Could I ask if in lanterns, if okay, could I ask if in lanterns, how is alive, which is still my theory, although he might not be, but I think he is. If how is alive, why that wouldn't bother you as much? Well, you said it. Marvel did it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. It's like every single project, there was like two or three fake deaths. I'm exaggerating a bit here, but you know what, you get my point. Like I get frustrated. Well, I won't name names.

I get frustrated at a certain person in my life, not my wife, who was like always late, always late, doesn't matter. We just always know we've started doing that thing that you do, right? Like if the thing is we're supposed to everybody's supposed to meet at 1230, we tell them 12 because we know they're not going to get there till 1230, right? Always late frustrates me. I've got another friend who's never late. If they're late once, it's not going to bother me because they're never late. Like, okay, they showed up late once. I got frustrated because fake death is like any other tool. It's like any other storytelling tool. I can be used well badly, but for a while, their Marvel just kept going back to the well. Like everything was fake deaths. And I started calling it the Marvel fake deaths cinematic universe. If it turns out how is alive, this is the first time the DCs done it. It's the first time they've done it. So no, I wouldn't be frustrated by that. Now if they do it in lanterns and then they do it in clay face and they do it in Superman Man of Tomorrow and they do it in

lantern season two and they do it in Brave in the Bold and they do it in whatever Wonder Woman. Well, yeah, then let's have the conversation about me getting frustrated with them. Yeah, I got frustrated at Marvel for it because Marvel was doing it every damn time, whereas the DC hasn't really done it yet. They're really just getting started. If they use it once here, I'm not going to get frustrated at that, but if they keep doing it, I'll get frustrated at it anyway. All right, next up, we've got Dan Johnson writes, John's dad shot how a motive, a gun, well, everybody's got guns in this show and a propensity to shoot at people's heads. That's not really shooting to murder somebody who's really not the same as what he was doing with John. Anyway, flashback show lanterns is about generational family trauma. Yeah, I just, but I just don't see it as that because from what we understand, the dad has been in that care facility now.

Could it be John's dad? Yep, I'm not going to sit here and say that's a definitive no. There are a few characters. I would say it's a definitive no, but I'm not going to say John's dad is a definitive no, but I'll just say this. I think there are like seven or eight or nine other suspects that would be more likely. So yeah, it could end up being John's dad. I'm just saying I'm going to be really surprised if it is. I'll just be really surprised if it is, but we'll see. All right, Jeff writes, early theory about vision quest, all Trondon vision will battle it out in vision's mind like data and lore from Picard season three. Well, I mean, I don't know that that's a big theory considering we kind of see it in the trailer. Like I don't know, I don't know if you can call it your theory if they literally show it in the trailer. It's like me after the first vision quest series going, I have the theory that vision's going to walk into a bar that him and Wanda used to go to. That's just my theory. Well, yeah, that was in the trailer. So yes, I do think

we will see them battling it out, but I think we're going to see them battling it out in his dream scape, but I also think we're going to see them battling it out in the physical world as well. All right. See Zach Shaw writes, Hey, John, did you see that Daniel RPK is reporting that Avengers secret wars won't film until January 2027 is a delay possible if that's the case. Here's the thing with Daniel RPK. Daniel RPK has a track record of breaking some very legitimate things, but you know, I believe it was also Daniel RPK that told us that Cyclops was going to be in Deadpool Wolverine. So get some things wrong. I don't know. Here's what I think there. I think when Daniel RPK says something, I give it my ear and I pay attention to it, but I wait to see if it ever gets validated by somebody else, like by one of the major trades. So I think, like there are, there are some out there that the rumors get started and I pay no attention to.

When Daniel RPK says something, I pay attention to it, but I don't really, the reason it's not a topic on today shows because it's just missed too many times. So I think it's something to keep an eye on because he says it, but I am also going to wait. I'm not going to give any sort of an opinion on it until we hear like one of the trades actually say something. And if one of the trades actually says something, then I'll start forming some opinions about it. But until one of the trades says it, to me, it's just another Twitter rumor. One of the more coming from one of the more legitimate guys on Twitter, don't get me wrong, but I, I'm not going to pay too much attention to it until we hear from somebody else, but it has my, it's gotten my attention. All right. Next up, Thanos writes, when I was not just from Sevilla, I'm in Spain for my cousin's wedding, that's an awesome place to go. Ambient temperature of 30 degrees Celsius is this what living in California feels like. Some days, but we just went through not this week, but the week prior to that, we went

through about two weeks. Let me just look it up. What is 108? So we went through about a week, where it was about 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, 40 to 42 degrees Celsius. For my American friends, that's 108. We had like a week of like 108 here in Riverside. I understand Texas had it pretty bad too. This week's been better. This has been weeks been averaging in the low 90s. So like a rent in the 30s. But next week, starting tomorrow, we've got extreme heat advisories again. So it's going to be pretty damn hot. So yeah, it's been hotter here. It's been warmer here than than 30 degrees in Spain. All right. X-Men, superfan writes, one of two, I noticed something in comics that Batman with few exceptions and Superman have villains within their range of abilities. But what a woman ends up fighting cosmic beings of doom,

the sorceress goddess. They often pair her with some villains that are way above her class and range. And she can still take them down. Found that impressive. Maybe Kryptonite is not needed after all. Yeah, but no, the thing with Superman is that Superman often deals with God like cosmic entities. But he's Superman, so we expect him to be able to deal with it. Like with any character, you have to offer them in your storytelling with opposition that legitimately to the reader looks like they could pose a threat. And they do that with Batman. They do that with one woman. They do that with Superman. So it's I don't really think it's that exceptional of a thing to be honest with you. All right. Let's see here. Oh, I almost missed Thanos there. Thanos writes one of two. When I think back to the origin of the MCU, I think if Kevin Feige, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, John Favreau, Jeff Bridges, and Samuel Jackson. But I also have to pay respect to Blade one and two X-Men one and two and Spider-Man one through three. The one two three cinematic combo that paved the road to MCU road to glory. I mean, that is all true. But the reality is it was X-Men.

And I have this debate with people all the time who try to argue with me on this all the time. But it literally comes from the studio people blade. I love the blade movies at least one and two. Let's not talk about blade Trinity. I love the blade movies. But when you talk to the people at the Hollywood studios as I have and some of the like even like iconic producers like Charles Rovin and all that kind of stuff, they always point to that first X-Men movie. It was that movie that they say that it made the studios it made Hollywood go, oh, you can do comic book films like this. That was the one that did it. It wasn't Blade that did that. The blade got a lot of attention, a lot of fans like me, Spider-Man, yeah, but

but for all the big producers who eventually paved the way who eventually were the ones who opened the door for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the studios and stuff like that, the movie that was the paradigm shift for them and how they looked at comic book movies and what comic book movies can be, it was that first X-Men movie. That was it. That was the one that changed everything. And I mean, and it started with that incredible opening sequence. I still remember the first time I saw that opening sequence with the concentration camps and a young magneto being torn away from his family and the bending of the metal. It's like, oh my god, this is like today, that wouldn't stand out so much. But when that movie came out, it was groundbreaking. It was groundbreaking. And again, it made these producers go, oh, oh, and the studio executives go, oh,

so you can make a comic book movie that's like this and it really did change. It paved the way. It paved the way. But again, when it comes far as fans go and really starting to generate momentum, obviously blades in that conversation, obviously the Rami Spider-Man movies. But the one that really started it all off in a real way was that first X-Men movie. All right. Next up, Animesh writes, one of two, I haven't seen much in terms of marketing for Vision Quest outside of trailers. Well, that's the main marketing is the trailers. As was the case for Daredevil and Wonder Man as well, do you think bad marketing has contributed to poor performance of these shows? No, the reality was Daredevil, it's staggering to me because it's such a good show. But everybody was aware Daredevil was coming out. Everybody was aware. People just aren't interested in watching Daredevil. And the reality was the numbers weren't as big as we thought they were when it was on Netflix. And that's a crime because the show's awesome.

And it deserves more viewership. But no, the viewership problem with Daredevil wasn't marketing. You could definitely make a case as I have before that they didn't do a lot of pushing for Wonder Man. But I think part of the reason they didn't push a lot for Wonder Man is because they knew it was going to be a hard thing to push. First of all, it's a silly name for a character. A lot of great characters have silly names. They do. But being an unknown character and kind of having a silly name is going to be a difficult push. It was going to be a hard one to market anyway. So I don't know that a more robust marketing campaign for Wonder Man, which is awesome, would have done much anyway. But definitely that's not the case of Daredevil. Daredevil, it just there was marketing for Daredevil. They did Harold it was coming. Everybody was aware of it. It's just they chose not to watch it though. All right. Next up, we got Robert Pressur writes, one of two, I totally respect and understand your feelings towards the 86 Transformers movie. I'm a 90s baby

and I didn't know about why Hasbro did that until I was older. However, I think when you agree that the soundtrack is fire, some of it is really good, not all of it, but some of it is really, really good. And Orson Wells' Unicron is perfect. I still play hunger when I'm grilling and cooking. I mean, like to me, obviously like you got the touches great. Weird Al Yankivic has a song on that soundtrack, Daredevil stupid, which was absolutely prostitute your head and the microwave and give yourself a tan, Daredevil stupid, Daredevil stupid. What did I say? Daredevil stupid. Anyway, great song. It's also some questionable music in it. Yes, Orson Wells as the voice of Unicron was a major get. But I think getting Leonard Nimoy as the voice of Galvatron was even better. Like, Leonard Nimoy's doing the voice of Galvatron was fantastic. Like, it really was. Orson Wells was a very heavy process way to put, but man, when you really listen to like, oh,

yeah, you could hear Leonard Nimoy, but doing a voice like an evil voice. The movie is still a crime against humanity. It's an absolute crime. But, but yeah, I mean, there are good things in it. There are some good things about it, including some of that music, man. Absolutely. All right. Quantum of Zen writes. One of two. The plan for Paramount's road to financial success after the WB purchase is number one, get a Q tip. Number two, Swab Jim Cameron's cheek, three clone James Cameron, 30 times annually for have each clone create and direct an avatar-sized original movie, five recycle clones after their production and let the money roll in. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I've said this before, I will say it again. All that is left now for us is just to hope it works.

Hope they do a good job. I'm pessimistic that they will. I have my doubts that they will. I have serious doubts that they will. I think they have, this is one of the most financially irresponsible deals I've ever seen. There's a reason Netflix, which had the right to buy Warner Brothers said, oh, no, no, no, no, no, that price tag is way too high. That is not what Warner Brothers is worth, but Paramount decided to spend that money anyway. And they are going to be crippled with debt. Like the debt in this is insane. We've gone over several times. Do I believe they are in five years going to be bankrupt? Yes. I do. Do I think in five years, Warner Brothers and maybe Paramount too will be owned by somebody else? Yes, I do. But as a fan of movies, as somebody who just wants good movies and good product coming out, that we as fans can celebrate and enjoy, I hope it works. I hope it works. I hope they are able to do it.

I really do. I really doubt they'll be able to do it, but I really hope they make it work. And that's all that we have left for. It's all we have left is hope. Rebellions are built on hope. Anyway, I rich review sends in a $20 super chat. Thank you, rich and rich rights. I like to recommend the upcoming documentary, the history of concrete. The premise is that after attending a seminar and how to write and sell a hallmark movie, the director uses that formula to approach when it comes to concrete. Never heard of it, but you know, it's interesting. Here's a little interesting tidbit that I don't think I've ever shared. Do you know, I actually, one of my summer jobs, I spent most of my summer jobs working in the construction road construction industry, right? But one summer job that I did was I worked for a testing company that would literally test

concrete. That was our job. So what would happen was when cities were having, you know, new foundations put in, having sidewalks put in, having structures or bridges being built using concrete, what would always happen is there would be an inspector on the site that would take a sample, a core sample of the concrete and bring it into our testing facilities. And then my job was literally putting this concrete through a whole bunch of tests and recording the results. So that okay, that's a stupid story who cares, but you just brought up, there's a documentary about concrete. And I happen to have a little bit of a background with concrete. So maybe I should look into that. All right. Next up, thanks for that. Rich appreciate that, man. Disney gifts by Bryce writes, you know, John, we know Pixar puts in Easter eggs like the shining, the shining carpet in SIDS house in Toy Story. Do you think naming Andy Andy was a nod to Chuck E?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I heard one guy at Disney once say that he thinks it was a nod. Just an ode to Andy Hoffman, which, of course, Andy has nothing to do with Andy Hoffman, but, but no, 100,000% as nothing to do with Chuck E, not at all. All right. Rich Reviews, writes, got my tickets for the Virginia Film Festival attending 10 films over five days. I am happy about what I got. Two of which is I play Rocky and Bohemoth. Yeah, man, actually, you know what's funny? And just said to me last night, like the AFI film festival's coming up and they're, she mentioned they're playing Bohemoth. For those of you don't know, that's the new Peter Pascal movie that looks really good. That's being directed by the guy who made Andor, which is the greatest star worst thing of all time other than the original trilogy. So you've got the guy who made Andor making this new movie with Peter Pascal. Sign me up. I can't wait to see that.

I hope you have a good time at. Let me know with the best ones you saw there. We're rich. All right, next up. George, your rights brand new day release with more post credit before Doomsday. I don't know if any of the bonus footage they're talking about is because I don't think they're going to re-release Spider-Man brand new day before Doomsday, right? So for those of you who missed this, a report came out of, I believe it was deadline. That they have learned that Sony is now planning on doing a re-release of Spider-Man brand new day with some extra deleted footage, including the footage of Rosario Dawson reprising her character. I believe her name's Claire from the Daredevilverse, right? And some other deleted scenes. But if that does come about, I don't think they're planning on doing that before next year. So since this re-release will probably come out, by the way, there's no facts out there about this yet. This is just all conjecture. But if it does indeed come, then it's probably going to come in next year

after Doomsday's been out. So I don't see there being any need to suddenly create an insert new connections to Doomsday. Remember, it's including deleted footage. They're not creating brand new footage for it. So there's that. All right, next up. Draco writes, do you have a favorite horror movie? I get asked this a lot. I always give the same answer. I have two. My two all-time favorite horror movies and every one of you guys in the live chat can probably recite this along with me. All-time favorite horror movie is American War, Wolf and London, not to be confused with American War, Wolf and Paris. And then a little more modern, although the movie's getting older now, is the descent. So yes, American War, Wolf and London and the descent are my all-time favorite horror movies. All right, Curtis writes, got the chance to see an early screening of Digger, don't waste your time. Yeah, it, man, I thought this movie looked so crazy and so nuts and so fun. And I was really excited to see it.

And then the earlier reactions were not good. And remember, this is a type of movie that critics love. Critics love these artsy kind of, you know, deep meaning kind of movies. This is the type of movie these critics love and they're coming out and going, mm-hmm. So anyway, like I said, and I had our tickets. We're planning on going to see Digger tonight. Now, unfortunately, I've had a minor issue with my van, Colossus. And the, they're sending out a technician to fix it, but the technician can only come tonight. So we've got to stay home. And honestly, from everything I'm hearing about Digger, it may not be that bad news that I'm not going to see Digger tonight. So I'll still see it. I'm still going to see it, but yeah, kind of bummed out hearing the reviews for it. All right, Hayden writes, check out the gentlemen season two phenomenal TV. I love the gentlemen. I thought it was a dumb idea for them to make that. Like why make a poor man's version of the movie?

What's the point? And the show is great. And I am definitely going to watch season two. Now, the reason I haven't started watching season two yet is like, there's a lot of seasons I'm behind. I haven't watched Reacher season four yet. I haven't watched Fallout season two yet. I have like, there's a number of seasons I'm behind on, but the reason I haven't seen the gentlemen season two yet is only because I think I've convinced Ann to get on board with the gentlemen. So I'm gonna wait for her to watch season one. Then I will watch season two with her. So that's why I'm behind on the gentlemen right now. All right, Angel just sends in a super chat badge to be supportive. Thank you, Angel. Angel then writes, and do you see the Warner Brothers discovery acquisition becoming a movie? Nah, because there's too many people that would have to give consent to it and I don't think it'll ever happen. I wish there would be a movie about it and I would love to watch it, but I don't think it'll happen. Culture Wars diplomacy rights. Just finished Reacher, comment on OP heroes.

It isn't just how good the hero is, but the level of the threat and do the side kicks get to be cool. I'm not really sure what it is you're asking. I don't think, I don't think Reacher is OP'd because while they've always shown Reacher, to be, I mean, with full explanation, why he's like the baddest of badasses. Yeah, put him in a prison. You know, I'm just a big fan of him. I don't think that's a big deal. I'm not gonna say that's a big deal. I'm just a big fan of him. I'm just a big fan of him. I'm just a big fan of him. I'm just a big fan of him. Yeah, put him in a prison cell with just a couple of random prisoners and he'll take him out, right? But one of the things Reacher's always done, at least I haven't seen season four yet, but I've seen seasons one through three, is that they legitimately do put him in positions that he's in legitimate peril. Whether it's because of a trap or whether it's because of multiple enemies

or whether it's because of Polly, it once again to season three. That was great. Like I loved the way that thing be with Reacher and Polly in season three. That was so good. That was so good. So to me, overpowered is when you literally can't put the hero in a situation that they can't easily get out of. And with Reacher, yes, there are some scenarios that he can handle with ease, but they often put him in very perilous situations as well. So I think as long as you do that, you're good. And as far as side kicks being cool, that's one of the strengths. You know, one of the things that I didn't like about season three, and I do really like season three, but one of the elements I didn't like was, he didn't have his regular crew with him. And I like the side character. I like his crew. And so I hope they kind of get back to that.

That's just me. All right. Sveen writes, the full trailer for Dexter Resurrection season two is dropped. I saw it. Looks great. Didn't know that Dan Stevens was in this playing another serial killer. Can't wait for it to turn. Oh, yeah, we talked about that when they cast Dan Stevens to be one of the villains in this season of Dexter. We were all over that. I thought that was great, but Brian Cox. Come on. Brian Cox. What's the name of his character, the New York City Ripper? I think that's the name of the character. Anyway, the fact that we're going to have these two big serial killers against Dexter. Again, Dexter lost its way, but Dexter Resurrection actually Dexter original sin was the beginning of the rehabilitation of Dexter. Because Dexter original sin was really good. I kind of lost hope for Dexter after, what was it called? New blood. Was that the name of it the season? I lost hope because that wasn't good. That was just not good. Then they did Dexter original sin,

which was surprisingly good. And then Dexter Resurrection season one is like, oh my God, Dexter is back. If you guys have not seen, if you guys gave up on Dexter because of like how the original, the great original series ended and then New Blood was a total disappointment. If there's any of you guys who gave up on Dexter because of that, I totally get it, totally do. But believe me, check out Dexter. You don't have to watch Dexter new blood, Dexter original sin. You don't have to watch Dexter original sin to watch resurrection. You don't. But I recommend you do because it's really quite good. And then Dexter Resurrection, oh my God, it's so good. It's like peak back to it true Dexter again. I highly recommend you check it out. Anyway, so good. All right, next up, hollow Lord writes, hey John, finished Negley season one, very good, not renewed yet. Oh, it is renewed. Yep, Negley season two has been renewed

and they just announced that Negley, the spin off of Reacher, is the fourth biggest launch of any Amazon Prime show ever. Think about that. That's huge for a spin off series. Yeah, that's great. So yes, just so you know, Negley has been renewed for season two. I can't wait. I can't wait to watch it, but I'm very excited to watch it. Right McCray writes one of three. Hey, John, one of my favorite shows was Third Rock from the Sun and favorite episode was when Dick Solomon, John Lithgaugh confronts Mary Albright's old friend and rival academic Dr. Jeff Willis at a book signing and accuses him of plagiarism by angerly saying, you think you're pretty clever, don't you? I happen to know that every word in your book was published years ago. Perhaps you'd read the dictionary. Did you watch the show? I didn't. No, I did. It's really because that's where Joseph Gordon levied really became a star,

I think was in Third Rock from the Sun, John Lithgaugh. I think I saw an episode or two here or there, but I never really watched the show, unfortunately. And it's really a shame because it looked like something I would enjoy. It looked like something I would enjoy. And I know a bunch of people who watched it, that re-enjoyed it. So, but yeah, it's not one that I ever got around to watching, unfortunately, even though I love John Lithgaugh. Speaking of Dexter, I love John Lithgaugh, who is, by the way, going to be the new Dumbledore in Harry Potter. All right. Christopher Diaz writes, thoughts on the Ebenezer new trailer, junk, I think the whole thing. I honestly think it looks piss poor. They showed us a bunch of stuff for it at Cinemacon. Not Cinemacon, Comic Con this year. They showed a bunch of stuff like Comic Con this year. And yeah, I just don't think it looks very good. I don't want to talk about it. Like I don't want to go out and say bad things about.

That's why I'm not going to make a topic on the show to come out and say, oh, what? Ebenezer looks like a sex, but I don't think it looks very good. But who knows? I've seen a lot of trailers that I didn't think looked very good and then I ended up loving them. So maybe that'll be the case here, but I honestly don't think it looks very good. All right, Ubeneights. Doomstay is tracking for an insane 450 million opening weekend per, I don't know what BOT is. Completely insanity and Doom 3 might benefit from the spillover demand hugely potential 120 million plus, I don't know what OW is either. Guys, please don't write in acronyms. Well, first of all, don't take any tracking numbers right now seriously, because the movie doesn't open for months. The movie doesn't open for months. So don't start taking the tracking numbers all that serious until we get a little bit closer. Still that's it. I'd be curious to know is that 450, because the advanced ticket sales have been huge.

The advanced ticket sales have been absolutely huge. So yeah, we'll see. I'd also be curious to know who says the tracking is coming at that, that's often nebulous to, but I don't know. I, look, here's the thing, I simply do not know that there are enough movie theaters and seats to accommodate a 450 million dollar opening weekend, not to mention a lot of those theaters, including all the IMAX theaters are going to be taken up by Doom. Doom 3. So I don't know, 450 might be, I just don't know that it's physically possible. I don't know that it's physically possible, but I wasn't sure that 350 was physically possible either. And obviously it was, but like 450 is a huge jump. So we'll see, we'll see. All right, McCrayer, right. Oh, I already did that one. Decade rights. If Seagrard Wars is as good as Lord of the Rings, could it make four billion dollars?

No, no, that's too much of a jump. That's too much of a jump. Like nothing's even made three billion dollars. Let's not get carried away with ourselves. All right, quantum of Zen writes, $20, super chat. Thank you, quantum of Zen. And quantum of Zen writes, putting movies and cinemas before streaming is the same as bands touring to promote an album. K-pop too, hopefully draws Netflix further into theatrical waters. Yeah, I mean, listen, one of the reasons, here's the thing. One of the reasons that I always, not always, I got convinced of it. One of the reasons I ended up preferring that Netflix get Warner Brothers over Paramount. I mean, my first choice was always that nobody buys Warner Brothers. That would have been the ideal. But if somebody had to buy them, I eventually got one over to the idea of preferring the idea of Netflix getting them than Paramount. And the main reason why, this is the big argument,

is because if they merge with Paramount, you're losing a movie studio. If Netflix gets them, you're bringing a new player into the movie business. Paramount gets them, you're basically eliminating one of the players from the movie business. If Netflix got them, you're bringing a new major player into the movie theater business. That Netflix had never been in. You were bringing in new business. And that was really the thing that changed my mind and convinced me when people would make those arguments that I really would have preferred to see Netflix do it. But I do think that as much as they kind of play it cool and they don't say it out loud very often, I've been saying it for a while, I think Netflix has gotten the itch for theatrical, they understand what the benefit of theatrical is, and they are very slowly, but very surely experimenting more and more and more theatrical.

And I hope they end up being a real player in the theater. I think it would be great for the movie industry. If Netflix became a player in the theatrical business, rather than opposing the theatrical business. So that's my hope at any rate. All right. Thanks for that, Kwomzeman. Thank you for the $20 Super Chat, man. All right, next up, unbranded taco rights. Long time fan, thank you so much. Daniel Crenton usually gets credit for Shang Chi, but what are your opinions on his earlier work? Like short term 12 and just mercy. I love those. I mean, we talked on the show about just mercy when that came out. I thought it was remarkable, but I think the reason is because Shang Chi was so different for him too, right? Like again, I understand I do that I am a probably a bigger fan of Shang Chi than most people are. Like I just think Shang Chi is top tier Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I'm not saying it's better than Infinity War. Don't don't get excited. But I do think it is top tier, top tier Marvel Cinematic Universe. I still remember when I first saw it, I came out of that theater, like literally shaking. Like, oh my God, I remember Greg Alba from Real Rejects. He was just sitting a few seats down for me and we were talking a bit before the movie. And then we sat down and watched the movie. And I remember when the movie was done after talking to Anne for a second, like I walked over to Alba and I was like, can you believe how good that was? Like I was just blown away by how good it was. Absolutely floored by how good it was. And yeah, the fact that you can get a guy like Destin, who can create like period piece, deep character work, like just mercy and show that he can work

with Academy Award winning talent like Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, stuff like that. And he can then transition himself into pure genre like Shang Chi. I mean, Sky's the limit. I mean, that's, that's one of the reasons he's so in demand right now. One of the reasons he is so incredibly in demand right now. He's so good. All right, thanks for that, I'm branded. Next up McCray writes, overreaction, obsession in musical comedy is a cat, is category fraud. Yeah, or maybe the foreign press were taking hallucinogens, recreational drugs and saw comedy. But this is the thing. If this was the first time this was happening, it would be one thing. This happens every year. This happens every year at the Golden Globes. It is a mockery. The only reason that the Golden Globes, because again, what the fuck does musical and comedy have in common?

Like what? What, what is that even having common? What? Like it makes as much sense as having in the category of horror or documentary. What are those two things having common? Like anyway, but every single year, they, the only reason the Golden Globes have that category, the only reason they have that category is so they can nominate more movies and get more movie stars at their event, say, look at all the stars that come to our event. See only reason they do it. And you know what, they're not the only ones who are guilty of it too. There, there are some other ones that I used to really respect, but started horring themselves to get celebrities to show up to their events that just became, I won't name names, but there are some other bodies, let's just say, that I used to respect a lot that had started having their own awards ceremonies

simply to increase their own profile and they started having these ridiculous categories that were strictly to try to entice big stars and big celebrities to come and be at their event. So their event looks prestigious and give it credibility and it's like, oh god, and it just made me lose respect for it. And again, like I said, I'm not going to name names. But yeah, Golden Globe is the king of that. Golden Globes are absolutely the king of that. Anyway, next up, Mr. I writes doing a double header on the 15th of whale fall and as a palette cleanser after the stress of whale fall street fighter. You know what? That's, that's actually a perfect way to phrase it and to approach it. Palette cleanser apps because whale fall, I can already tell every muscle in my body is going to be aching from the stress and the clenching and then I know that movie is going to stress me the F out. Maybe street fighter. That's a great way to put it, man.

Maybe street fighter might be the ultimate palette cleanser for that. All right. Next up Jerome writes, where we are. John, I love you buddy, but not having you can see everything on your most anticipated list makes me doubt your ball knowledge. I don't give a fuck if you doubt it or not. Crescia writes, my interest in month, my interest this month. Sorry, comma placement, my interest this month street fighter, other mommy, your mother, your mother, your mother, which I think is going to be a sleeper hit. Well, I don't mean, sorry, when I sleeper hit, you makes the things going to make big money. It's not going to make any money, but I think it's going to be one of those movies that a lot of us are going to talk about. Your mother, your mother, your mother, whale, fall, clay, face, social reckoning, wild card, wild card, wild wood. I just, I am so happy with the lineup.

I mean, again, and Jonathan has said it a number of times and he's absolutely right. I feel like every month just has like a stellar lineup of films. This has been a, this has already been a really good year, a really good year for movie. And we haven't even gotten into the Oscar season yet when a lot of the best movies of the year start coming out. It's been great. Again, I think wild wood, I can't get over how good I think wild wood looks. Being directed by Travis Knight who directed Kubo in the two strings, it just looks beautiful. I cannot wait to see it.
