All my people right there are back in the spot. I need your top. All right, text coming through. One more front of mine. Topic on the subject of your prize, JJ, which is the subject of your top entail in a moment. But Beverly's text in morning to your bed. I'm a calling with supporter. I don't think we need Lockheed Neil. I wouldn't be the only supporter not wanting him at Coliwood.
I think from a football point of view, when you rank 17th for clearance and you're bringing in one of the best clearance players of his generation, I think it makes very sound sense. The flow on effect from it will be positive. But if we're talking character and all those sorts of things, then you're entitled to your opinion. Beverly, but the footy club is about getting better on the football field. And that's what Coliwood are looking to do. We've got the combined strategy. Pointy end picks go to the draft. Cherry picked the best of the free agents and try to pick up some bargains along the way. Isn't that what everyone does? No. Coliwood haven't done that. Historically. Coliwood have unloaded foot. Coliwood have unloaded foot. Coliwood have unloaded foot. Coliwood have unloaded foot. Sam picks on players like confetti. Isn't that what everyone else does? Are you kidding me? They've got the oldest list in the comp and then some. So we've got this top 10 pit where you should take it to the draft. Yeah. Well, no. They haven't always done that. Anyway, we digress the top 10 tail historically for the parts. They're interesting. And I think they're going to be even more interesting over the next three to five years as they try and achieve what you have just outlaid.
So at three in terms of their tail, the contract extension of Bobby Hill. Now, timing wise, he may have deserved it. I'm not 100% sure on the timing. Now, he picked up a normal Smith medal. So he's entitled to to be looked after in that regard. But the timing doesn't matter because he says you can't argue the fact that it's worked out terribly for both parties. And I believe he's looking at already making a comeback to 40. So that had probably even put a little bit more salt on the wound for Coliwood fans at two. Now, we've got two years of regression from where they purchased his player from Dan Houston. So the first year you look at it and you think, okay, maybe it's taken him a full year to a judge. And hopefully, you know, in year two and beyond, it'll look a lot better, but it didn't look that much better this season. They gave up, you know, a fair bit to get him. They were keen to get him. They've paid him handsomely to be the all Australian all the two time all Australian that he was at Port Adelaide.
And it just simply has not worked. So we've played the audio of Justin Leppich. The noise is around the club, not from within the club. And they don't have any intention of moving him unless I reckon something handsome. A bit different to the Jordan to go. He knows. Law of questioning, wasn't it? Yeah. Yeah, they're open to a deal there for sure. Yeah. And that sounds like a mature conversation that's been had between DeGoi and the football club, but not necessarily with Dan Houston. And I think the number one mistake they've made was you can call it giving up or you can call it moving off or you can call it moving on from Jack Ginnett. I think he'd be an incredibly important piece to that group in the way that the game is currently played. Half forwards who can get up, get back, get up, get back, clever with the ball. I think he's probably even more creative in clever with the footy than we ever saw at Collingwood. And he probably gets more of the footier. He would get more of the footier as a hawk than what he did when he was at the cut at the pies when he played a little bit closer to goal.
And was more of a goal sneak than a goal creator and a score involvement guy at Hawthorn. At Hawthorn, but you know, it probably started before he decided to go to Mooney Valley than not before the Grand Final, but that felt like destroy the Brought the Camels back. And in the end, he, he departs. And I think they can probably look back on that and think that given hindsight, we'd really love him to still be in our scene. Yeah, you're reckon they're really thinking that I don't know about things. So that was the infamous press conference from Craig McCray after the premiership. They all read the room. Jack. So yeah, that was at had a whiff of the straw. Put him beside Locky Schultz. You got two really, really create the good teams. I've got three or four of these types. Collingwood is still trying to find, you know, a second and a third to go alongside Locky Schultz. So I'm going to put him at number one. Happy to hear from from pies fans in regards to whether they feel a little bit differently. 0 4 double 3 9 out 11 16 or even jump on the jump on the old phone and give us a call 1 3 10 7 3 6 7 3 6
a couple of bargain basement buys that have absolutely paid dividends in really difficult positions to fill in terms of the top three moves. Billy Frampton. So he was traded from Port Adelaide to the Crosse as a forward rock to do a job there. One of the rare players that had gone from port to the Crosse and vice versa didn't work out for him. Collingwood clearly saw something in him. I can't remember whether he went and played much in the back line for Adelaide or in the ass a NFL and his time as a crow. But he's turned up for around three pick and you know, he's a premiership winning defensive forward. But what he also is is, you know, he's one of the better key defenders in the competition. I thought he's seasoned this year was outstanding as a lot of the players fell around him in terms of their health with how and more and others. He he he stood tall and he was an absolute brick wall for the pies in that back line. The other one that was that arrived for nothing is Darcy Cameron and he has been speaking of players who have been consistent.
Now when Oscar steam was in the team, we weren't sure what it looked like, but he's unfortunately gone down with injury and Darcy Cameron has just picked up and absolutely done the job. So his acquisition has been just magnificent for the pies and at one, this is one that is potentially up for discussion. Sam the pies salary dump. Now you can look at this two different ways initially clearly caused a little bit of internal dialogue. Do you refer in this trill or 2020 and grundee 2020 to so this was a fairly jarring and fairly difficult decision for the club to make and it didn't land necessarily well with the supporter base did it. The trill or one are horrifically with the supporter base. The grundee one I'll be keen to know now a few texts coming through your grundee for you should have been in your bottom three, but you're in fact the contract in your top. Yeah, I considered the contract at seven years, seven million all their bets they can be but he was he was a game breaking is now.
Rockman imagine if they had him now. The reason I put it at one, they're saying Flynn Rolly from Carlton and mucking around with the reason I put it at one grundee the reason I put it at one. So you take trill laws how much would it would have been on at that time I'd have to go back and have a look at the deferred multi good money right the last contract was huge. So you're you effectively across that little period you take out trill or on good money you bring in Tom Mitchell who would have been not as well paid at that time you take grundee out and you ship him off and you bring in Darcy Cameron who wouldn't have been on anywhere near what Brody grundee was on you bring in Bobby hill you give him a chance from GWS. Those goes all come in in their first year alongside Frampton who comes in for nothing and play in a premiership will get to the open line my memory of the grundee deal and that's where I think it belongs in the bottom three some is he was going he was going to add late the contract was there I think from the course portions of Coli Woods decision making team had resound themselves of the fact will find and you go because we're not going to meet the asking price.
Other people at the football club at the very very top said no you will not be trading Brody grundee only under any circumstances paying what he's asking that is what led to the contract that ultimately was that the handcuff of of Coli would a while they had to to dump that salary to Melbin and then he's gone on to Sydney so that whole thing was a bit of a saga. Brice is you can have him in both maybe you can. Brice is on the road on your Coli would top and tail. Can I, Bryce? Boys, there you go. We're good. I just wanted to talk about the Houston one really quickly I did text him about it but I thought I called. Do you always think that he hasn't lived up to the heart so far he has been subpar but do you think that Josh take us playing off halfback it doesn't help Houston may is he's just just the dead set wing and midfielder. Yeah well I mean look at lucky action lucky with field it doesn't hurt them to have to very very good and prolific halfback flankers they often link up and and kick it to each other and get him more receives off each other so.
I would imagine to running defenders is better than one most teams are looking for a second one because if they're primary running back gets tagged and they've got nothing else to go to look at freeman I'll even them they're looking for. Another running defender to pair alongside Jordan Clark I think you would see an uptick in performance from Houston if they moved Josh day costs into the midfield which I think is going to be a conversation for them to have next year but. Again if if you're putting all your eggs in the basket of Houston being your primary rebound what if he doesn't what if he doesn't give you that uplift that you need. Thanks the call are Bryce appreciate you calling not just texting let's go to Joe in temple stone now this is where we want to get to get a Joey. Yeah get a boys great discussion calling about Guinea and my recollection of him almost sabotaging our 23 campaign I reckon more justified 12 months later when Guinea did sabotage Hawthorne if you recall when Ken O's got the 20k fine for sticking out his airplane wings.
He actually do railed Hawthorne push to a prelim and that and mind you Guinea has matured much as a footballer and as a person I would love him still and black and white but I don't think he can not calling it on that because I think they will be indicated 12 months on what are your thoughts. Yeah good good point and and taken on board I think the game now is is particularly from a coaching perspective is about you know what it's about man management and it's about looking out for your group whilst allowing your individuals to be individuals so I don't know that you can blame Jack Inivan for them losing that final against Port Adelaide they did miss James Sissley Mr. a set shot late in the contest. I know I know Joe Sam but one social media cheeky social media probably is not but I but I you know I think in that moment you know with with Guinea in the center of a of a controversy yeah that Colin would might have been sitting back in that moment saying yep we made the roll.
Yeah but he's performance since don't tell me Colin would couldn't do 18 in a goal every week on a half forward flank is definitely matured has he good on your Joe thanks for calling in mate that was the top and title for Colin would we need to get a breaking actually changed to scheduling we're going to bring in the ESPN heavy hitters out of 11 o'clock now so windy Brian Wendelston dark Tim McMahon out of 11 o'clock to the biggest figures in the broadcasting of the coverage collective of the NBA indeed I will get a break in for now though and we'll build up towards the 11 o'clock news hour back in the second.
