هو عادية بمزلم سنجر السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته اسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله والسلام على رسول الله و على آله و صحبه جمعين my beloved brothers and sisters we have to learn to respect one another and we have to learn to respect one another especially when we differ with each other one of the weaknesses that we are facing at the moment within the Ummah across the globe is when we differ with someone we tend to abuse them, insult them and disrespect them in a way that we weaken the entire Ummah and this is something that needs to be spoken about often because we have not matured when it comes to difference of opinion I may hold a different opinion to yours in ten matters the other thousand matters we are exactly the same but we make those ten such that it becomes really difficult for us
to navigate even when there is a common problem that we need to be together in order to resolve so to be able to set aside differences for a common goal or achievement requires a lot of maturity and it requires understanding I may not like you per se but I am going to have to work with you for the upliftment of the entire Ummah it's like a ship when you have a ship and you are two thousand people a thousand top deck and bottom deck and so on you know that we cannot allow one person to drill a hole from the bottom deck simply because they have a problem with the guys at the top who will have to be giving them the water because you think you are closer to the water being at the bottom I can just make a hole and get my water I don't get along with these guys no matter what you feel your feelings aside you will have to cooperate with those guys
if you want to survive so in the Ummah today we have Razza we have so many other things happening the genocide is happening and it continues why is it that we feel that nothing is improving the situation well there are many reasons and I am sure a lot of us have automatically become political analysts and activists and each one has his view and his opinion bottom line is we do not truly care for each other evidence of it is in this masjid there are amongst us people who don't talk to each other over something petty over something that you can throw in the bin honestly in our families we have issues all families not just mine or yours only everyone we have some issue some of them are a little bit bigger than others are you mature enough to be able to greet a person why do you think that Allah Almighty has ordained through the blessed lips of Nabhi Muhammad salallahu alayhi wa sallam that a believer should not ignore another believer
for more than three days why do you think that is mentioned it's because whether you like it or you don't like it some level of cooperation is going to have to exist the bare minimum is a salam alaykum and the response is alaykum al salam you have a civil relationship you have an understanding it's something that you know what I don't really get along with oh I've had a problem with this person the problem is there we will resolve it be mature about it don't be ugly because it will not just weaken you and your family and the community it will weaken the entire umma so therefore respect is a word that we sometimes take for granted and may Allah Almighty make it easy for all of us right now the air conditioning units are giving us a bit of a hassle there are a lot of ways of resolving it one is to be able to navigate it and mention it and the other is to get up and scream in the aisle and make a fool of yourself and everybody else both would probably solve the problem
and sometimes it could just be a power failure and outage a little trip whatever it might be how do you react to a negative situation says a lot about you as a Muslim before anything else when someone smashed your vehicle they made an accident it's cold and accident reckless or not reckless you're going to have to come out and you're going to have to deal with it respectfully as angry as you may be there was a life that was lost not too long ago here in Johannesburg when people tried to respond and react in a way that was not really befitting a believer and i'm not taking sides i'm only mentioning the result of not being able to navigate it in a way that you understand where the problem is an accident occurred let it be an accident don't make something more than an accident out of an accident so you come out you greet the person to start with and you ask if anyone is injured that's a Muslim that's a believer reckless or not three youngsters who are driving at the speed of 200 kilometers an hour
and the car hit another car and both cars rolled and what happens the onlookers came out and the first question the non-Muslims were asking is is anyone injured is anyone injured and i was told that when the first Muslims came they said these guys deserved it they were speeding how where is the level of care for the umma whether they made a mistake or they did it intentionally and they were reckless we will deal with the recklessness in a certain way i'm going to tell you a very strange story just now that came to my mind but while dealing with recklessness let's learn to respect the people i'll tell you the story last night i was driving on this road not too far from here i think they call it wini mandela and eleven o'clock in the evening there was a police check you know roadblock and there were quite a few vehicles anyway i have a little bottle of a throat spray and once in a while i spray my throat
because we talk a lot and it becomes dry so and this is a throat spray perhaps it may have a level of alcohol or whatever anyway i sprayed it like about a few seconds before i got to the front and i didn't know they were actually checking with a breathalyzer everybody because there was a nightclub nearby and they were looking for the people who were drunk and there was an accident there just sometime before so like i said we deal with recklessness they were dealing with it by stopping everyone and testing them and he tells me how are you sir i said i'm fine how are you you know with my own mode and mood he's doing his job and he says can you breathe in first time in my life i'm looking at a breathalyzer i've never seen it it's the size of two of two mobile phones put together with a little gadget and he just says blow you don't have to blow into something but onto something so i blew it says it says i was i was under the influence of alcohol and and he says blow again i blew again last night i blew again he says sir you are under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol i said what i've never drunk
before he says that's what they all say i says i'm a muslim he says the muslims they drink as well i said you know look at me do i look he says it's not about looks anyone everyone park your car there and come here and he had my driver's license in his hand and so i i thought to myself i've got to be respectful he's doing his job something went wrong i still didn't think to myself what happened i didn't really think that it was the spray and then i came out i said how on that this guy's thing is not working so i came back i said sir how are you doing he said you are under arrest and he's opening the back of the bucket in order to get me in and i'm wearing white on white on white and white and i'm thinking to myself now what happens and people are passing and i'm sure there was some muslims passing as well but they must be wondering what's this guy giving dowat to them you know he's probably going to tell them repeat after me ashadu ala you know but actually the truth of the matter is i told him sir is there any other way of checking if i'm drunk or not he says yes we can do a blood test but we have to go to the police station i
said no problem i'm prepared to go there if he says you're going to have to wait for a while so he was also relatively respectful because i was respectful someone else would start getting angry you know f you and do it those are the words we use as muslims are o the billah let's make a change so what happened is it struck me as i'm waiting that you know what there were a few people who were drunk whom they had arrested and i'm standing there thinking this guy knows for certain that my speech is not slurred if my i'm proper i'm talking to him proper language and i have started talking a little bit more to show him that i'm sober you know so i told him guess what i think i used the throat spray so that's why i'm probably you know showing something maybe it's evaporating into whatever you know trying to give him an excuse he says yeah it's okay we'll find out just now a little while later another guy comes and says hey boss i know you from somewhere i said oh alhamdulillah you see it's it's it pays to actually serve the deen of Allah i said where do you he said i you're a famous guy i said he said what why do you drink you know i said my brother come
on but do you really think i drink so by that time i didn't have any taste of the throat spray in my mouth it'll maybe about five seven minutes i told him can you do me a favor test me again test he said no no let's leave it we'll go to the police station i said please just test me one question one request test me again he says okay he called the other guy he says hey bring that machine test zero test a blow again zero he said what how did this happen i said i told you it was the throat spray it's not there anyway cut the long story short the topic here is respect i believe that if i was vulgar abusive insulting they would have taken me and made an example of me in some cases i could have gotten away with a hundred a hundred trans a stop for Allah but someone might say maybe even twenty you know but to be honest let's not talk about corruption because that's not the topic today it is going to be dealt with inshallah it has to be spoken about but not today but today i want everyone to go home and remember that what you stand for as a
Muslim is when you differ with someone disagree with them have a problem with them you have to offer them minimum respect you don't become abusive and vulgar you know in the Quran Allah speaks about the beggars and i love the verse because for me it brings me a great lesson it has improved me whenever i think about it Allah says as for the beggar do not rebuke him don't abuse him in surat al-Duha this must she is called must she the duha let's take the lesson wa amsa ilaf ala tannar as for the beggar don't rebuke him don't abuse him don't insult him don't belittle him all of that is included in falat tannar Allah didn't tell you when a beggar is begging give him because that's your choice you can give him or not give him some of the beggars are part of a larger scam some of them make more money than you a die working eight to five and it's it's okay for you to doubt but i can't insult if you are not going to give
turn away respectfully without insulting can you do that it says a lot about you as a Muslim how you react to a beggar it says a lot about you as a Muslim how you treat those whom you perceive as from a lower class than you're simply because of your own perception and understanding which is you look at someone and you think look at this guy who does he think he is that guy could turn out being a person who's going to solve your problems i remember one of the borders i was stuck at some years ago i spoke about it and juma they told me you can't cross because i had a zimbabwean passport and that's the only passport i have so basically they told me you need a visa to go but i said last week i was here they said no the rule changed this week now i'm stuck it was friday and we came in and a guy greeted me and he sat down and i sat next to him and masya Allah tabarak Allah the Imam was talking about helping people and solving problems and so on and you know you are not true believers until you love for your brother what you love for yourself and you
must assist in help and after the salah i said let me try one more time so there was a cleaner i said you know what i have a problem where is the manager the main boss here she said you know that office inside there there's a guy sitting there but you can't go in but never man i'll let you in wow i went in not not not the guy says if to open the door open the door who was it the guy sitting next to me in prayers he looked and i greeted him and that's it and he greeted me and i told him habibi i have a problem this is the issue he said no problem my lacha i'll give it to you now he wrote in arabic muhafa qashafah he says we've given him a verbal visa i i've never heard in my life and i thought to myself just imagine how Allah has told us to respect each other to offer a minimum you know that what you owe a believer is a salama alaykum habibi that means peace be upon you i'm not going to harm you my brothers and sisters the umma is bleeding i'd like to think one of the reasons why the victory is being delayed is our hearts are not where they're supposed to be
they're in the wrong place you have issues no problem but if your brother is dying or has suffered are you going to say he deserves it if that's the case when you were struggling they will say you deserve it and in that particular instance guess what will happen the enemy who wants to destroy us collectively is having fun because we're doing a better job than he could ever have done that's what's happening in khazza may Allah protect us and grant victory to our brothers and sisters so ask yourself when you see one another here in the masjid do i care do i love do i feel would i save would i be there offer respect offer a greeting that greeting could be your paradise i see you i don't know you i love you i care for you i i don't have a clue who you are that's irrelevant you are here in the house of the Lord of the worlds it's not my house not you are you are more than welcome if i see something that perhaps is wrong we will deal with it in a respectful manner there was a youngster who walked into the masjid with shorts and a guy came up an elderly uncle who reads salar five times a day in the first of he came he looked at him and started yelling
and screaming you think you're gonna trace he made such a mockery of himself but he insulted the young boy and kicked him out of the masjid and guess what the youngster never returned to the masjid again and i'm thinking to myself is this how you solve the problem the father came to talk to me and he tells me would you mind speaking to my son i went to speak to him he says you know what i came that day to cry to Allah for forgiveness i have been a person very very astray how am i supposed to know the etiquette it would have been good if someone came to me and told me you know what here's a pair of whatever you can wear it or maybe perhaps let's do this or whatever else explain to me i said listen son excuse the old man he probably didn't realize he hasn't interacted with people enough to know that this can happen but i want to give you an example of the prophet don't we say we love the prophet we follow the prophet peace be upon him he respected everybody he respected even those who disagreed with him those who fought him there was a level of honor and respect on the battlefield he taught justice and he said don't dishonor and disrespect the guys
we're fighting them for a case we will leave the fight here the minute they want to utter Shahada or they want to surrender or whatever else it was at the time of war we will accept it and we will that's why they made relations with those whom they were enemies with before Allah says it in the Quran as Allah is all capable all able to create love between you and the one you hate today you hate someone Allah says i can create love in a splash Abu Sufyan came the victory of Makkah he was the one who led the armies of the kufar against the muslims guess what happened he just had to utter his Shahada and the prophet of salam says whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan is safe five seconds ago he himself was not safe how's that may Allah subhana wa ta'ala grant us he so i told the youngster i says the same prophet peace be upon him when someone came into the muslims and he urinated what you did was not even urination the guy came in with the shorts it's
i agree in islam you're supposed to cover your knees at least and being it a bit lower and when you come to the house of Allah it's more encouraged to come with something much more than the bare minimum you see the bare minimum is naval to knee for a male imagine if all of us came with three quarters and we jumped in here salah is still makru makru meaning it's detested you coming to the house of Allah where something honorable you are going to meet a leader or a millionaire or perhaps a president you not going to just pitch up in the shorts and say hey how's that guy that's not how it works you have to be reasonable and you have to understand that Allah Almighty deserves that honour and respect beyond this point so my beloved brothers i told him when this youngster peed in the muslim the prophet peace be upon him had to address the companions who were trying to stop him while he was being and says no let him finish what he's doing how can you do that but the idea is the mercy of hislam is look the pees already there it's going to be a little bit more but to stop a guy half way through his pee i've always thought about it and said just imagine half way through your pee
someone say stop how are you going to do that come on you're going to need to have a solid sphincter may Allah forgive us but at the same time where as soon as he finished and while he was still almost finishing the prophet salallahu ala salam tells his companions go and fetch water in a bucket and bring it here as they busy themselves getting the water he says hey this is the house of Allah it is for the dhikr for prayer for Quran for worship it's not for this type of thing and he was about to be beaten by the companions and suddenly he's being spoken to with Atmos respect that respect was so beautiful respecting a person who did something that would not be accepted in our societies totally imagine i can't imagine someone come to our must-sheet and do this and in fact obviously we wouldn't want it to ever happen because now we've arrived at a level of education where you would know even if i walked into a church or a synagogue i'm not allowed as a muslim to discreet other people's places of worship so now i tell you something he says
o Allah umarhamni warham Muhammadan wa la tarham mana ahadan he saw the contrast between what the companions were doing and the prophets allah ala salam came and spoke to him with love and care explain he says oh Allah have mercy on me and Muhammad salallahu ala salam and don't have mercy on anybody else hey that means now he's telling you clearly what they did was wrong what this teaching is is heavily divine so the prophets allah salam says to him may you are trying to make narrow something that doesn't become narrow what is that the mercy of Allah mercy of Allah encompasses everyone no matter what you've done my brothers my sister's the mercy of Allah is very very close the victory that Allah will grant you is just at the doorstep and don't ever lose your suburb your patience don't ever become distant from Allah because of your problem your hardship the door might seem closed keep knocking and remain steadfast your door shall open in the interim
learn to respect one another learn to honor each other learn to make sure you speak to people in a way that is befitting to your claim to Islam your claim to being a muslim it's embarrassing for when something negative happens and we see it's a muslim a few days ago there was a Jewish man who uttered slurs against a muslim brother i'm almost certain he regrets it and his entire community regrets it because that moment of anger has given a picture that is definitely not connected to any Semitic faith and by the way Islam is the primary Semitic faith to here we are embarrassment in the same way it happens to the muslim some of us the way we behave we regret later but that moment especially now in an age where everything is recorded it's an embarrassment just offer respect so what did you see the response of the guy
who was holding the camera it was reasonably respectful he said well you know whatever he said it wasn't vulgar he gave it back so we could sit and say wow you know what our guy did well i tell you what there are thousands of clips the other way around but alhamdulillah they fizzled out learned to live as a muslim just like that person whatever faith he belonged to it was an embarrassment to everyone people started writing letters and declarations to say we got nothing to do with it it's wrong it shouldn't have happened and some people had something else to say but nonetheless the lesson i learned is you know what you can spoil the name of the entire religion and all your people just by some misbehavior today people are looking at us in a polarized and they are going to judge everyone who belongs to your faith based on your action your words bear that in mind keep yourself hold yourself the Hadith says the most powerful person is the one who can control himself when he's angry when he's upset because that's when everything wrong happens
control yourself learn to calm down learn to respect people offer respect to those whom you disagree with the umma will change you will change your life will change you present yourself as an ambassador of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him then when you want to celebrate the fact that he was your na'bi well Allah it is worthwhile because we feel we carry ourselves in a way someone has to look at you and they feel you know what these people have an amazing religion amazing faith you don't have to help everyone but you can offer them respect sometimes a good word goes further than a thousand rants you might give someone and sometimes people don't want your thousand because of how bad mouth you are they don't want it some people have left the job at your place simply because of how you spoke to them even though the packet is quite thick much Allah fed packet but they don't mind they say you know what I can't stomach this disrespect Allah's put us in positions let's learn to honor the people because the tables can turn and we can be the other way around it has happened may Allah bless us all and Allah in my brothers my sisters what I said today
serious I believe it's part of the solution part of the solution of a lot of the problems we are facing in the Ummah some poor solution learn to respect each other smile offer a few good words you really don't like someone maybe stay away but don't don't disrespect and dishonor end of the day we are going to pay for everything we say and we have a load to face in the day of judgment to stand in front of Allah to declare our deeds may Allah have mercy on us on that day may Allah increase the love of the Ummah may Allah help us to solve our matters amongst ourselves and to respect one another and may Allah Almighty ultimately grant us victory firstly in Raza and everywhere else across the globe where our brothers and sisters are struggling and suffering and may Allah bless our homes our children and our offspring in a way that they can carry the deal right up to the end so that Allah can accept us into genital for those a callu qawlih a'adah wasallallah wa sallam a'ala anabina Muhammad
