The Secrets Behind Building a Super Bowl Roster With 3-Time Super Bowl Champ Tom Ciskowski | Doin’ Alright

Episode 188: Bryan Broaddus sits down with former Cowboys scouting director and three-time Super Bowl champion Tom Ciskowski for a fascinating deep dive into the NFL scouting world. From his early days working under Jimmy Johnson to helping build championship rosters in Dallas, Ciskowski shares stories from inside the draft room, explains how great scouts identify talent, and reveals why football character often matters just as much as athletic ability. The conversation explores the Cowboys' dynasty years, the importance of organizational alignment, and the traits that separated Hall of Fame-caliber players from everyone else.

Later, Tom pulls back the curtain on some of the biggest draft debates of his career, including Randy Moss, LaShawn McCoy, NaVorro Bowman, Tyron Smith, and countless other evaluations that shaped NFL franchises. He discusses the challenges of balancing coaches, scouts, and ownership, the importance of trusted sources during the scouting process, and what today's Cowboys front office faces as it adapts to a new defensive coaching staff. It's an outstanding conversation filled with draft-room stories, scouting philosophy, Cowboys history, and lessons from one of the most respected evaluators to ever work in the NFL.
