Every fall when a weather gets colder, I reach for this cashmere sweater from Quince. They make elevated everyday essentials out of real materials. Mongolian cashmere, organic cotton, washable silk, is built to last and not just look good for one season. They're 100% Mongolian cashmere sweaters started $50. Oh that's right, you heard me. Giving you the softness and quality to expect from a luxury brand without the luxury price tag. And it's not just their sweaters. Think denim, leather bags to use. Even jewelry that can pull a whole look together. Here's the thing, everything Quince is priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands because they work directly with the factories and cut out the middlemen. You're paying for the quality and not somebody else's markup. I know Emisha and I talk a lot about this brand but I'm telling you Quince is amazing. Find the fall pieces you'll reach for most Quince. let a pastry cook forget was salt. Everybody thinks salt is just for savory food but a pinch of likey salt on caramel, that's a whole trick. The sweet gets sweeter, the flavor gets deeper, and suddenly you can't stop eating it. So when Kachava told me they made a new salted caramel flavor, the chef and me was a little skeptical. Then I tried it and honestly they nailed it. It tastes like dessert but it's two scoops of real nutrition. Protein, fiber, greens, the whole deal and there are no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners. It's what I grab on these days. I'm on the go and don't have time to cook. Embrace your salty side. Go to kachava.com. Use code blink for 15% off your first order. That's kachava k-a-c-h-a-v-a.com code blink. Hey all Molly Sins and I'm Mammesh Agoramli. We're two girls obsessed with one thing. Beauty.
And by that we mean everything that makes you look and feel beautiful. We're calling on our favorite health experts, industry insiders and friends to answer all your beauty questions. With a drinking hand. Definitely with a drinking hand. You're listening to lipstick on the rim with Molly Sins. Do you have a follow-in account specifically because you trust them to tell you the truth about your face? I mean it's how our next guest came on my radar because I feel like she is just... She's not just selling you something. She's... No, she doesn't sell anything really. She doesn't sell anything but she will tell you exactly what something is worth and should you do it. And what I love about her the most is that she's transparent. Very honest. And we love this. Today's guest is basically that friend. We're going to be best friends by the end of it. She has spent years telling people exactly what's worth their money and what is not. And she's here today to break
it all down. She's a skincare educator. I would say expert. Content creator who's amazing. Who is built her name, treating and translating complicated dermatology into advice people can actually use. She's the wife of a prominent New Orleans dermatologist who we love to. Through her platform she's become known for cutting through trends, marketing hype and misinformation with an evidence-based point of view which we love. She spent years helping people understand what a procedure can actually do and what it can't. And how to make smart realistic decisions about their own face. Okay, Mrs. Derm, Melissa Coleman. Hi. All my friends fangirls. We're like fangirls. And it's just like a week and get Mrs. Derm. We don't even I didn't even know your real name by the way. Oh, that's okay. I am sure Mrs. Derm. But when I saw you at dinner that night all my friends were like, oh my god, it's Mrs. Derm and I'm like, what? They could see you walk in
and they all freaked out. Yeah. And the Italian had the biggest Italian was like, shout out to Gina. Gina. It was very excited. They were really sweet. I never I never really know how to react. I get approached a lot. Like it happens to me sometimes that I was at Heathrow and two different people but one woman in specific came up and just hugged me. And I think you both are so, you know, like this because there's that pair of social relations. And my husband Patrick looked at me and he's like, you are so bad at this. He was like, you have got to learn how to just say hi. I was like, I'm working on it, but I'm just not, you know, used to like being in the grocery store and somebody being like, hey, can I just like quick just like, and I'm like, sure, sure. Let me look at you. Do you want to go to the moisturizer aisle? Can I just show you one really quick? No, but I think that's why people listen. We're obsessed with you because you're beautiful and you're so smart and you're so eloquent. But also you really do tell it like it is. I mean,
I think you're the perfect person who we embody lipstick on the rim because transparency, authenticity, no gatekeeping, no gatekeeping. And we love that. And most of our women, they want to know what to do. They want to know when to do everything. You know, well, I think that, you know, it was really an interesting thing to sort of start with me just with women from Patrick's practice finding me on my personal Instagram. And being like, hey, I saw you in his office today. What did you do? Like, what are you doing when you go into Patrick's office? Because I'm doing this like, what are you doing? And I thought, I'm just like, I'm just getting a peel. Like I do the bare minimum when I go to, when I mean, I'm in his office a handful times a year. That's it. And they're like, well, what do I need to do? I'm like, why hasn't anyone told you this? And you start to realize that dermatologists don't have a ton of time. You know, you've got a 15 minute slot or something like that. They're not going to have time to explain everything to you. And their staff, you know, is either really well educated on stuff like that or they're not. You know, I mean, not everybody
on Patrick's staff knows everything about skincare. It's just not that's not what they do at his office. You're there for Botox lasers, peels, liposuction, you know, whatever. But the actual foundation of knowledge is lacking almost everywhere. Well, I think there's so much that it's over. I, this is like what I, I consume like candy. And I get overwhelmed by lasers. I don't know it. What should I do? Like, what's, there's something new out. It's like, is there every day? Is that a really not right? So the whole thing with lasers is, what are your thoughts on lasers? Let's dive in. A lot of lasers are cannibalized each other. So there's a new one that comes out. That's exactly like the one that came out last year. And so they all sort of cannibalize one another. And you know, especially like the tightening lifting stuff, which is just, I mean, it was all over my page today. It was just such nonsense. But you know, there's lasers for specific things. You know, if you have red, there's a laser for red. So lasers for red work. There's no laser on the market
that works for red and brown and resurfacing. And my father-in-law is practiced for probably close to 60 years now and is still waiting for that, you know, the unicorn laser to come out. But there's lasers that have specific purposes. You can, you know, there's lasers for red, there's lasers for brown. There's not really lasers for tightening. Even though I know Zerf is out there and Stop Wave and Altera and I'm going to get like, people are going to be mad. Hey, results always and my husband owns two of those. And so, you know, against his own business, I can go, you know, me, some people will get a result and some people won't. Some people won't and some people will get worse. And like, you won't know until you try. What do you think about the CO2? I've had four. Have you really? Yeah. So I love them. Do you do the full CO2 or do the baby CO2s or do you? So there's the fractionated, ablative CO2s. So that's what you see on mine. Like the little dots, you know, which is really satisfying to watch, like the little grid. It's totally.
And it's really satisfying to watch come off your face. And then there's the fully ablative CO2s, which is the full field. So it just, you know, they always say like, we wipe off your face. And then you just grow a new one, you know. Oh, that's what it is. I did it after my lower blot. I had it. You did a fully ablative one? I don't know. Did it is that what I did? Yeah. Under her eyes. Yeah. So I did. I've only done fractionated ablative. I'll never be a candidate for a fully ablative CO2. I kind of joke that Magda from there's something about Mary is like, when you get there, you need to grow a new face. Like it's time. I had my first one done. Did you go under? No. I mean, I had two of them. I was under, but I was having surgery. Right. So it was just, let's just talk about it. That's why she did her lower and then they did, you know, just smooth this out. Just like right. He called it shrink wrapping. He was like, we're going to shrink wrap it. Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't go under for it. I did it first when I
had an upper bluff when I was 42. You know, we just did sort of a sleep mask powder. That's what I did. Exactly. And then I had it done around my eyes once before that, like a year prior. And then I did a full face a couple of years ago. And then to explain what it does. So it, um, so if we're talking or fractionated a blade of laser, it kind of liquefies and evaporates columns of skin. And so the fractionated blade, a blade of, it's just a fraction of the skin, right? So hence the little dots. So ever there's a little dot, it kind of evaporate or gets rid of that skin and then healthy new skin grows in its place. A full field is just all of it's gone. And it's raw and it's red and it's kind of bloody. Usually takes 30 days to heal. I would never do that. Um, I, you know, I would, I would never, I would never, I don't know. I, you'll never need it, right? So I think if you take care of your skin, you won't need the full field. I mean, the women that I see that do it.
You know, they, they wrinkle like this and then they wrinkle like this. It's sort of that road map wrinkling where the skin's very, all like creepy. Yeah, it's a tissue paper. Yeah. And they do really well with it because they get to grow a new face and they get to start over. Um, I don't have a friend like I don't have a friend where I'm like, hmm, she's going to need one. Yeah. Like they all, you know, the fractionated blade of the work. Yeah. The mag does the world. You know, if you were smoker, a heavy smoker and a sun bather and stuff like that, you'll need it. So what do you think people are actually hungry for right now that they're not getting in like a traditional beauty industry or setting? I mean, you know, I do a lot of consults with women and the same question comes up in almost every single one and the, and it's always the same answer. They want, I want to fix this. But I don't want to have surgery. I know. Like I don't want to do it. I want your answer. You have to have surgery. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think that's an honest answer because I think a
lot of people don't want to don't want to hear that you, you need to cut. And your neck is one and two years old. Your neck looks insane. Thank you. I had, it was like the whole thing. I mean, you can't, I have a scar. You can't see. You can't see. I mean, the, the, the solution is, I mean, I talked about this yesterday. We're, and I had this really long conversation with a follower where she was like, what there's got to be something, right? Oh my gosh, it's just not. You know, and I mean, but I can tell you there is, and I can tell you a jar of cream and I can give you some bullshit device that you can do at home. But there comes a point that's going to do nothing. Like it's gonna, it's not even as it's not gonna help. It's gonna do nothing. Do you believe because people are starting earlier and earlier? Do you believe in starting earlier or preventatively or preventatively or kind of to wait until you feel like, like, I feel like I'm getting there, right? Not, not in a crazy way, but like, my neck is different than it was three years ago. Sure. It just is. So I think the best way that it was explained to me, and, and this is the way that I think about it and I, and I love it. I loved
this explanation so much was Dr. Jacob said to me, he told me, I'm like, I stopped by his office and I was 39. So I'm turning 40 and like, everything's falling and he was like, we're going to refer you to psych. He's fine. He's like, it out of my office. Well, it's, uh, and then at 46, you know, I went back and he's like, let's do it. Let's go. And for me, it was all here because you felt like this was falling, right? Yeah. I mean, I got very like when I would put my neck down, this would ripple and this would ripple on me. And he said, let's go. And he said, here, here's why. Here's why you do it at 46 or 47 or, or on the earlier end of your candidate state. One, you know, your skin is healthier, the tissue's healthier, everything's healthier and it's going to heal better faster. The skin will retract better. Two, you get to enjoy that about a part of your life, right? So you're not waiting till 60. We talked about that with her eyes. She goes, could it done it like five years before? Right. And you get to enjoy it. And yours is pretty
permanent too. So like you're never going to, I mean, I don't know anybody that had to do when it like 70, but like, I think so. I don't know anybody that's had a revision. No, lower blephaline list. There was a prop unless there's a problem. So it was like two, you get to enjoy it at a better part of your life. The skin heals better. And he said, and then you have to look at it this way where you're at today, this is going to last 10, 12 years, right? And he said, and the goal is depending on how well you take care of your skin, that you'll age back to your baseline. So to kind of where you are today. And then you'll just get a second one. And so for the longer part of your mid life, you get to look, you know, probably better than your contemporaries who've chosen not to do it. But you also have the benefit of having healthier skin at that point and working on your skin and taking care of it. And he said, so everything is just going to look better. So you don't do Botox or anything anymore? Yeah, of course they do. What's the biggest category of beauty spending you think people should
eliminate? And what do you think that you should spend money on? Firming creams, lifting serums, tightening anything, none of it works. None of it works. But everything has firming, tightening, lifting on it because that's what they want, right? It's like, how do I do this without a scalpel? But I do believe in plumping. I do believe like icy products that I put on, and I notice like a visible difference in my balance. Sure. Sure. But she's talking about literally lifting. Yeah, no, you can't. Exactly, right? So I wasn't going to not tell people I did a lower bluff and be like, oh, my magical eye cream is what made my puffing in my whole way. I drink lemon water every morning, celebrity jars last night. What could happen? Yeah, like every time a celebrity comes out and it's like, I didn't do anything like me either. Exactly. Same girl. Same girl. So, yeah, but there's nothing like I always joke. I'm like, there's not like little hands in your moisturizer that are going to like pick your skin up off your face. So what are some for sure?
So what are your some of your favorite products that you use? I'm really limited. So I mean, I wake up the morning. I'll miss my face. Misty like, I guess the one I brought with me is the fresh mist, the rose one. Okay. It's pretty. Yeah. It just hydrates. Yeah, just wake up, mist face. I'll put a hydrating serum on. And then a moisturizer, if you need one, which is always like my big thing, which is almost never. Right. So I don't usually use a moisturizer. And then sunscreen. Yeah, I don't I would use a vitamin C. I tell everyone to use vitamin C. I think it's important. I just it they all make me red. So they do. Yeah, it's just rosacea. So sometimes the vitamin C serum is just but I tell everyone because they're always like, why don't you use it? I'm like, oh, I could. I use my vitamin C layer. But I again, it's not super super super strong. Yeah. But I'm just consistent with it every day. Yeah, they're great. You should. For me, I have, you know, melasma hyperpigmentation. My skin is a little bit darker. Has a lot of mel, a lot of melanin
doesn't love heat. Mine either. I know. Yeah, I struggle. Okay, what about a night? At night, I use the pigment correcting product from Coleman. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. And then retinae. Okay. Use retinae every day. Every day. Use it every day. Everywhere. Every day. Everywhere. Everywhere. Their chest everywhere. Your hands. From like top of my head to to my fingers, arms, everything, everything. And I didn't think about that and tell our listeners like, why? Well, why not? Right? So I mean, to the crew of like, what do I do with creepy skin? Well, we could start, you know, like, let's start there. We can't get away from age like father time wins, right? Nothing you can do in that respect. We can't totally make up for the sun damage of being kids. Like, I have none of my legs because I hated my legs growing up. I hated them. Like, I don't have
cute ankles. I have. You're like, you're amazing. No, I don't. No, they're not. They're not. They're not. I'm sure I've seen your legs. No, they're not. I hate them. So they're like ghost white. This is just sun damaged to death because I love my arms. I was like, I have a permanent ring. Here from like the white haze tank tops. I'm like, I bet you look good in the way of like the 90s. And I had like, I didn't need to wear a bra on. I was like, but it is baked into my chest by now. So, I started using retina. I was 38. So Patrick tried to get me to start it at 31. And I was like, that seemed like strength. Are you on like a point? 025? Yeah. So that's what it's good. Yeah. I used oftentimes a redden. Sometimes my chest doesn't do well. So I use over the counter. Yeah. Stuff. On my body, I usually use over the counter stuff. Just because it's, I mean, you would go through a lot. You would go through a lot. So yeah, 31. He was like, you know,
you should use this. That seems like a lot. And I like blue smoke in his face. Like, I was smoked until I was 37. Like a pack a day. So I was like, none of that seems like fun. I'm not going to do any of that. And then 38 hit. I was like, it hurts. I have to be really honest with you guys. Buying glasses always felt so complicated and overpriced. Every style, felt outdated. So if someone could only do three things for the next 20 years to age well, what should they be? Desergery count? Yeah, surgery. Okay. Sunscreen and red and nay. It's pretty easy. Easy. The only thing I- It surgery doesn't count lasers. Lasers. I was going to say not everybody can have, I mean surgeries expensive especially if you're going to somebody you know that is good. Yeah, not going to have a hack job. Yeah, lasers. Lasers. So I mean that would be you know the top three things. I mean I could round out a top five but what do people actually need?
I mean no need surgery. I think that's I'll get crucified for saying people need surgery but- How long does it take? How long does it face like take? I think like I think like six hours. Yeah. And are they are you worried like I've never really done fillers? Do you know this? I saw all of them. You didn't matter with no it didn't matter. It was interesting. So I had two surgeons. Will you talk about that? I didn't even know that was possible. Well, so Dr. Jacob in New Orleans did my upper bluff. He did my brow left. He's you know he's an amazing surgeon. He's not a big fan of fat transfers on faces. He's his belief system is that you know the tissue has fallen and so once you know you start to put the tissue back into place you don't actually need a fat transfer and if you do you can do it postoperatively. And I was like I don't know about that. I don't know that I agree with you.
Um, Dr. Jonathan Bank who is a reconstructive surgeon in New York and a good friend. We worked on a charity project together. He was in New Orleans for the ASPS and he had a gallery opening for some of his work and I asked him I said hey will you do a fat transfer on my face for my face lifting. He said yeah when is that? I said January and he's like oh what year? And I was like oh this is an octahedral like this January. He was like what? I was like yeah yeah and so he's he said he's like yeah sure so he flew down and kind of flew me to the animal medical license and flew down and took the fat from the inside of my knees and put it back to my face. Christian Ken, Dr. Jacob Ken do them. He just he is kind of methodology is just you don't need it. I had fat transfer from my belly to my under eye and what does it do? It just pads it a little right? Yeah without um I mean I was pretty flat here. It just gives some volume back to your face you know without the that sort of filled look but
at the same time every single person online that would send me a celebrity. So I was you know they're easy targets. What's wrong with her face? Too much filler too much filler. My god is all fat. So you do really? He's all fat. Like these post operative and I won't you know name different time but like these are all these aren't. No one would put that much filler in anyone's face. Oh interesting. But people will over transfer fat because your body only hangs on to about 30% of it. So you know what that my doctor did tell me that doctor told me he was like it will settle because your body will metabolize I guess some of it are settles or whatever it is. Yeah so like 30% of it holds on to a blood supply and thrives and a little stay and then so a lot of these celebs that you see with these just enormous and like symmetrically enormous faces like I'll go with Madonna. Do you guys remember the VMA? Oh my god that was fat and she her team said
it was the long COVID. The Long Lens camera. Oh Long Lens camera. Right. How does it long COVID? No it was the Long Lens camera that just somehow made her just her face appeared distorted and so much bigger but the rest of her was fine. Totally fine so it was the camera and I just remember in conversations and surgeons and germs and stuff like that they're all kind of giggling and they're like it's a fat transfer and it was just completely brand new. Yeah and over done but purposely over done. So that her body would hold on to 30% of it. Yeah and I think you know Adrienne and I'm always another one that people just Adrienne and I got so I felt so bad for her. Yeah she is gorgeous. She could not look better today. Like I don't know what sister went through but dang I mean like she could not. She could not. How old is she? I didn't know that I didn't know. I didn't know. I just assumed it was filler. Yeah I just assumed it was filler. Nobody's putting out which is filling anyone's face. First of all it was just insane. Like that would be
criminal. Yeah I mean it would be unethical to put that much filler in anybody's face. I mean that would be dozens of vials. Like dozens. Like dozens of vials. There's I think like an entire vial of fillers like a teaspoon. Like it's really there's just not that much there and so to multiply that out. When you think it does look way better. Okay as good as she can. I think at this point we have now. We have we have lost the 70. Yeah. 68 69. Yeah I think she looks way better than when she just got. Yeah. Because that was I was worried. I think Nicole Kimner was another great example of that. Where it was just like she could look better now. She looks like there was a season of lioness where I was like well. Yes totally. Like what happened to her face and I'm the only one I just remember with my friends and like group texts and they were being awful and I think guys just wait. Just wait. She's gonna look amazing. She's gonna win. She's gonna win and she's winning. She is. I saw a rushing. I saw a picture of her yesterday or video of her yesterday. She was in New York and I was like I know she did. She looks great. I know what's going on there. But I think
that's like where you built this community and it was Halle and Lauren who first turned me on to you. They're so sweet. I think two years ago I was I think it was when I first got back from Europe and they were like oh you've got to follow her for the sunscreens you need to buy in the French pharmacy. That was when I started following you and I think you built this community of women because you are so you just tell it like it is. Yeah. I mean I try. I think I think a lot of people don't want to hear it. Well I think that's really what it is right and I said to someone yesterday and I posted the conversation online even I said you know I know this isn't the answer that you want. Do you think a lot of people because I always say to women when they ask me like pick three doctors go and spend the time to get a consult but also when you're in the consult listen. Yeah. Oh yeah they definitely don't do that. No they don't. I want this. I want that like or they don't say anything and they don't ask enough questions or they're told it's wild to me that what women don't hear. I
you know I've known women who have gotten procedures done and you know are unhappy after the fact and you know you're really confused as to why you're like well what did you think what I mean and women I think the the worst thing that a woman can do going into a procedure is to have the expectation that somehow their anatomy is going to change. So and I had this conversation with a friend recently who you know I think wanted a more aggressive upper bluff and I was like yeah but you don't have like your eyes don't do that though right. Like it's a it's a scalpel not a magic wand and if you really want to start getting into like the architectural changes of your face I mean that's a whole different conversation but if you have you know small eyes to begin with you're never going to have big one. It doesn't matter you know and then there's the psychological thing that comes in to play too because it was like well I don't know why you don't understand that and then it still doesn't matter what happens like everywhere you go there you still are.
So if you're unhappy yeah the bluff isn't going to make you happy the facelift's not going to make you happy or the tummy tuck or whatever but it's it's insane it is wild to me the conversations I've had with women who do not understand the limitations of their own anatomy. I mean I have conversations all the time with women who don't know if they're warm toned or cool toned. All we talk about that we're like how do you not know how do you know how do you not know. Yeah totally looking look at the matter. Do you have some do you have gold in your hair like if your hair is warm at all you're warm like yeah the beauty industry counts on women being confused. I know and not knowing you know what their best colors and or what skin condition they actually have and so they do everything I mean so we were talking last night with a bunch of girls and about the brow lift hurts. It hurts really painful. Why instead of getting their upper
bluff they're doing the brow lift and not doing their eyes they might do the lowers but they're not doing here. Yeah we talk a little bit about that. I'd boast. You would uppers too. I never I didn't have a lower bluff. I just had an upper bluff and a brow lift in the face. You're eyes look amazing. I you're either a candidate I mean most people are candidate for one or other or the both or you know or both. I think the candidacy for a brow lift the candidacy for an upper bluff is this and it's the easiest trick in the world that everyone can just kind of do at home which is what Dr. Jacob had said to me he said close your eyes just gently close your eyes right if you have neither video if you have a full of skin when you close your eyes you're a candidate. You don't have a full skin you don't have a full skin. No you're due but a lot I did like I had a little oh you did yeah so you have to have enough excess skin to remove so otherwise it changes
the shape I mean there's been so many celebrities. My eyes are a different shape slightly for sure do look amazing. I mean I didn't know what you look at. Yeah I think they're a little but a little bit more cat probably the rounder today and then the brow lift is you know that what I tell women is when you go to get Botox and everybody wants this smooth right and they want this lifted and there comes a point and you could be like 35 or you could be 65 it doesn't really matter there comes a point where this stops lifting well it'll lift but you'll have like that Wi-Fi signal yeah right here so I get that like the little line I get that so if you can't keep your brow smooth and lifted at the same time you're probably a brow of candidate and if in order to get I get a line you have to lower your brow I get a line here in my fat sometimes that's just from sleep that's just and then it bounces right here it's something with your Malaridima how do you say that it's
how do you say it that Malaridima it is the being of my existence but what is that so the fat pocket that gets like those so this this will set like I cannot I cannot believe the wellness world has not like jumped onto this like we're gonna sell you a supplement for that like I created a supplement on chat gbt and send it to my right group called broad I was like I'm gonna start on and call broad and because women all get broader as they get older we just do and I know that yeah ribcages hips and shoulders like oftentimes get broader as you get older and I was like I can't believe there's not a supplement out there to counter broadening like link like ligament strengthening supplements so I did a chat gbt and created a gummy vitamin called broad I'm gonna sell out completely by the way you would could you make it no I would never do that I wouldn't work I didn't work fat pad here somehow they'd have to cut or something they were saying
I don't even understand really tough to fix it I couldn't but you know I do I do at the face lift helped a lot and the fat transfer helped a lot but it's more of a lymph node issues so you have lymph nodes here and here and you just you do you get Botox here yeah so if you didn't get Botox there it would improve if I didn't so the Botox putting Botox here is Patrick has been always said to me you can either be wrinkled or you can be puffy but you cannot you're you're gonna have to pick so when you Botox right here the muscle relaxes fluid can't move through it and so it tends to collect more that's so interesting and so he's like pick one and I'm like I'll be wrinkled like I can't deal with the swelling yeah I do not like the swelling it like every photo we don't do Botox here I do Botox here here here and all like all of this is Botox I did we love I was with her for the first next year yeah Dr. Marnie that's fine she's amazing she's so great
how do you know when you're actually ready for procedure you're just having a bad day if it doesn't come and go anymore so I mean there are days that bothers you yeah every day it's just present you know so I mean there are days that I think people's next bother them more than other days the dehydration or you know sun exposure traveler allergies or even that but when it's just consistent you know and it just it's the same neck every day or it's the same you know jowling every single day and it doesn't improve regardless of climate temperature hydration levels you know it's probably time do you think being married to a dermatologist change the way you think about cosmetic procedures oh I was just smoking when I met him I was literally snuck he bummed a cigarette off of me that is so weird really yeah and then it was such a bait and switch because like two weeks later I said I'm like oh I think that too bad because and I smoked for six more years looking back before you did any of this whether it's a
facelift or is there anything like that woman can do either before after the procedure that you think made a better big difference whether it's like hyperbaric or red light or does there anything I mean I know not I've known all that but like any any tricks yeah you heal how you heal yeah I did a hyperbaric and I think it helped I didn't um Christians not he's just kind of he didn't Molly is whom who told me to do it she was like is there a hyperbaric near you and I called up this one place and they said yeah you can come but you need doctors prescriptions I call my surgeon and he said listen he's like I don't typically prescribe it but I'm fine it doesn't hurt I don't know if it'll help but I don't it doesn't hurt you and I went and I did it four or five days in a row every day for 90 minutes and when I went in for my one week follow up he was blown away by how much I had healed like faster than he thought I would so a lot of athletes are doing it for their knees and wrists and ankles and just from yeah I think and from a cardiology point of view there's
a lot of benefit to them I asked Christian about it and his response was really interesting but he's also probably the most interesting surgeon ever because he won't be you know he's not on Instagram he doesn't care he's like you know I told him I was gonna be on here and he's like oh yeah he's like like it's kind of like cool does it right you know it's just not he's young he's 43 he's like Levine you know it's great looking you know it just operates in this giant mansion on St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans I mean it's just kind of the dream it's like what you would think this like perfect do people come from all over to all over a lot of people from up here oh really yeah well he's you know New Orleans pricing so you know the conversation around that's really interesting because find me a better face lift right and I say that as truly find me a better one and I see he has repeatable results just all day long and it just the the way it was explained to you was sort of
interesting they ought to get to where those guys are right whether you're general plastics you specialize in facial plastics or you're in T facial plastics or whatever it is I mean you are top of the food chain in medicine in terms of like you know the path it takes to get there not cosmetic surgeons right because those are you know stay away but plastic surgeons what it takes what they have to go through in order to get there so there's not really going to be one that's unbelievably more educated than the other right I mean all these guys went to these incredible fellowships all these guys went to premier medical schools they all went these great undergrad programs why is living in five hundred thousand dollars I come on and and here's my thing you can't do another one in ten years it's not like his five hundred thousand dollar face lifts in last longer and he you know and not to pick on him because people you know people love him and they're really happy with the results and we love him yeah so like not not to say anything negative
you know about his abilities but it doesn't last longer it's still the same face lift you're getting it's still the same face lift and about for the body do you are there anything you know people are doing that's new or works or I mean I think there's like new implants out on the market right in which you know what is the one I heard about that's like the new breast implant that's like really less invasive the surgery preserve preserve that's it and you can do it under local yeah it's more expensive yeah I know it's not like you're not getting a big boob implant has to be like I think like a beast yeah because I think they do it's a balloon right and they fill it so I think that's what it is I think I think it's a it's a really small incision and then they use a balloon method right to fill it so they're not going in and like jamming yeah that sounds bad but like you know putting a large implant in place but body stuff you know that's probably the only new thing that I see what I do see more and more of is women just going okay I'm gonna do it like just the
tummy tuck everything it's the smartest it's the best thing I ever did like without question tummy tuck yeah well the face lift is probably best but for a body surgery the tummy tuck was the most brutal recovery like a face lift easier to recover yeah so that what was the recovery the fake because that's honestly what scares me the drains in the face freak me out drains in my face you don't have drains no way you don't have drains I didn't some people have drains we're coming in New Orleans yeah we come talk to them we're coming yeah the I mean I drains for tummy tuck which we're disgusting but you know they're gross it's like have you ever had drains ever like all the reason in the world I remember after my tummy tuck I was back in Pilates like three and a half weeks later to help gain movement again so to sort of stretch you out and do all that because you're so tight and I just I'm gonna eat well and work out for the rest of my life
I'm never doing that again like that drains were foul they're foul like how long do they stay on you so mine were five days because I cheated and lied and said that the fluid was acting I'm the worst patient ever and said like the fluid wasn't collecting anymore and doctor Maddox who did mine she was like okay I've seen people drains for like two weeks and they're just they're gnarly yeah I don't want to do drain the face have you ever opened the fridge and somehow convinced yourself there's nothing to eat I feel like that happens to me way more than it should that's exactly why butcher box has become part of my culture butcher box delivers a hundred percent grass fed beef organic chicken and wild caught seafood it's like having the neighborhood butcher everyone wishes they still had oh I wish that every box is customizable and you choose exactly what you want honestly I always keep revised ground beef stocked to my freezer it saved me from ordering takeout too many times whether I'm feeding the family or hosting friends for dinner I've always got

feeling firmer and more hydrated without ever feeling heavy so whether you're just getting into skin longevity or upgrading your whole routine this is skin care designed to help you look and feel like the best version of yourself born from over 10 years of longevity research one skin is helping to unlock your healthiest skin now and as you age for a limited time try one skin with 15% off using code L O T R at one skin dot co that's 15% off one skin dot co with code L O T R after you purchase they'll ask where you heard about them please support our show and tell them we sent you okay this is the beautiful shit lightning round worth it depends on the person or waste of money red light mask with some money all of them you don't believe in them no but I like a red light then love one but you don't think there's any evidence to it there's them I mean that for so from from a sports medicine point of view you know there has been studies showed that
it can help with wound healing but from a cosmetic point of view I mean Patrick R I says if you think that works just get stand in front of your TV why do people think these work I mean there's there's half a dozen arbitration cases against red light mask companies for false advertising and marketing you know deceptive marketing practices there's one class actions class actions you against one my father and I was quoted in the New York Times long ago that's just like point or a murder control your face like I used to check out scanner once at Whole Foods and I was like I'm gonna give myself a little I'm gonna get a job I think I know the same sort of retinal it's the only thing that matters guacha facial massages if you like them and then do anything but if you like them expensive skin care depends on the person honestly um there are people out there who will keep up a great routine because they put a lot of money into their skin care. I don't need to think like that's what I love about you too you're consistent like I'm consistent
with whatever you do whether whatever actives I think consistency is the magic with really good actives right like doing something over and over and honestly it's kind of what you said taking care of yourself yeah I mean there's there was a great paper that was written I'd have to find it that showed that if you use a retina if you use a retina I do use one every day do you use one every day okay I'm going to convince you to use one every day can really like I'm gonna win I'm gonna convince you guys so if you use one every other day it doesn't how if you use it I don't oh my I use your whole care package okay you can send me but you have but you I have my last call I have my retinal right you use that every day yeah that's what I mean like you use something every day it's like you use what you're facial tolerate yeah do my problem solver which is my um trans-examine and I'll use my last call yeah as long as you're using something okay yeah whatever skin will tolerate if your skin I work with a lot of women who who skin doesn't tolerate you know an art or a red annoyed right so whatever your skin will tolerate
I think my skin can do the point two five it's I never tried it I never I never tried I marvel at women I get to point one I do that you look like one beauty like I don't know how you do that I can't get past point 025 like my face will fall off but here was here here here is the basic methodology behind and I I convert everybody with this so when you use our knife so if I use point 025 retinae every day and I do and you use it we'll just use the same one for as an example and you use it every other day the results that I will get it using it every day doesn't have efficacy a quarter say right so the results I'll get in a year of using it every day but take you four years to get there so just use it every day like just I don't care I mean I tell you I pretty much use it I mean I use it probably like five nights a week like use the strongest one that your skin's happy with every day and a lot of people I just don't want to be red so like I see them as the some of the some of the brands like really like irritate me and then I'm dry and then I'm red and so with last
call which we're adding growth factor we have a little bit of a relaunch next year I don't know I just find that I'm not I'm not constantly I've never done it red you know I've said in everybody stuff I'm feeling everybody everything oh my god I'm micro needling the actual name of micro needling is collagen induction therapy right so worth it or if micro needling absolutely not like not if it's free topical exosomes their bullshit PRP depends on the person some people get a result you know some people just don't so really you won't know till you know if you don't get a result I wouldn't keep trying right you just don't get results if you do you know for what it is sure fillers worth it facials depends on the expectation if you and there are some facials out there now that have peels I think we've all seen online that's not such a great idea to not go to someone with an MD after their name or an RN or you know maybe don't do that
but there are some facials out there that incorporate peels peels can be great I don't consider a peel a facial so when I think of a strictly a facial depends on your expectation if your expectation is that it will replace something that truly works like you can go there and they can sculpt your skin it is not worth it yeah if you like them because it feels like a method of self care and it gives you you have to put your phone down for an hour I love Casano Suzito I love Georgia Louise I love I love Melika I love leka I do love like she does I haven't gone in a while just haven't had time like an over six months but my facials would do skin tightening with the radio frequency and I did notice like in my jawline my skin like was it swollen or was it tighter it felt tighter honestly like I did probably swollen I don't know yeah which is fine so my argument about softwave is I used to do my mid face because because of this right because the male Ardima would drive me crazy and it would cause some low grade long term swelling on me that that I could tell in it last
and you know a month or so and then it would return to baseline but I was like hey it's worth it helped it's worth a month it was worth it like whether it's swollen or tighter I don't really care I'm not looking at it looks better it looks better yeah so again it just depends on your expectation is there a procedure myth you're tired of correcting more than any other that fillers are bad you know they're not they when used correctly you know they're great that facelifts take you know a year to heal from most people are restaurant ready in two weeks that's crazy you know I need to wait it's just two weeks yeah that's so like it doesn't take a month to heal from a CO2 like I was I was I mean I was at my nieces christening five days later right I always say like I mean I probably just seven days scared her in my side like days two and three are the worst yeah right which is kind of true all this because the swelling bruising stuff like that kind of peaks but I think people tend to attribute a much longer healing time we always ask every guess before
they go if you could give advice to your 10 year old self Mrs. Durham what would it be I would tell her to Kate I want to be beautiful like I'm not going to tell you sunscreen she's not going to listen right doesn't mean anything to a 10 year old but I think telling a 10 year old who wants to be beautiful you know and women get demonized for that being a goal right that they want to be beautiful they at least want to feel it right I think I would tell it that's okay like I think I would say it's okay to want to be it's okay to want to be but you shouldn't shrink yourself right because the world says that looks shouldn't matter and that's a whole different conversation but I think I would tell 10 year old Melissa that desire to do the things that make you feel pretty it's perfectly fine and it's going to be fine at 45 and it's going to be fine at 85 you're amazing all of that you guys have to follow Melissa at Mrs. Durham MRS dot Durham on Instagram and more for evidence-based skincare and procedure breakdowns and she really does follow her she has great recommendations and you tell it like it is we're so I mean we're so happy that we got you a fun
episode so fun and thank you it's so honest I think that's the thing is that we were sometimes afraid to have these conversations about a facelift about a lower blft and you know what matters what doesn't matter and I think women like knowledge is power I'll say this I watch a lot of women I'm the one in my friend group as well I have just a couple of us where it's like we don't shine each other on where it's somebody you know if somebody goes oh god I need my eyes so we don't go oh girl no you don't I'm like good call we're not saying we're like let's go it's like call like but I think women can do that yeah the service to one another oh yeah and then the beauty industry ceases on yeah yeah and also sort of exploits that as well yeah and so I'm the one that people are like I think I need a face up my algorithm with you yeah I agree yeah I'm gonna cross out all your questions oh I'm gachin yeah so I think it's important for women to also just remember that it's okay to tell other women a hundred percent I mean she would tell me I'd be like I do I do filler she'd like you need surgery I'm like we're not doing filler like oh also it's not going to work like yours is a genetic and it's very it's like almost like it was like it's like a pocket
it's a pocket I remember I followed you yeah I can't wait to come and we're coming to New Orleans you in New Orleans I've never been to New Orleans oh it's amazing I've never been it's you know it's pretty oh you're amazing thank you thank you Melissa thank you thanks for listening to lipstick on the rim with Molly Sims and my writer die Emisha Gormally we are so excited to bring you guys along on this journey with us you can find us on Instagram and TikTok I'd lipstick on the rim and at Molly B Sims and at Emisha Gormally where you can go to my blog where you can dive just a little bit deeper into our favorite products trends and more at Molly Sims dot substack dot com and tell me more about Emisha Gormally don't forget to check out our video episodes on my YouTube channel Molly Sims this podcast is a production with Sony Music just wanted to give a special thanks to our team Kyle Fong Gabby McCormick Samantha Melinger my adomit Chloe Harkins third eye insights and of course everyone at Sony Music don't forget to listen and follow wherever you get your podcasts so you never miss out on the fun
