It is a divisional round series edition of baseball today presented you by team mobile. That is my man Trevor Plufheim. Chris Ross producer Dan along for the ride as well. We are taping after Monday nights to ALDS games. We have two very happy cities. We have two very sad cities and two thirds of this show is extremely sad. So you better be damn cheery over the next 30 to 40 minutes. If you guys are sad, what does that make me might just over it. I'm already looking towards 2027.
There's a new pandemic coming. We might not play baseball. What's there to be happy about? Stop. Let's not do all that stuff. Beautiful country. Thank you. The people's happy place. They're here to hear us talk about baseball and how much fun it is. And this is the best part of the season. This is the dessert to our meal. So let's get it going. But on a smiley face, we're going to jumpstart this show with our segment made it look easy presented to you by booking.com book and dot. Yeah, an official travel partner of the M.O.B. We're talking about a team that made it look easy all season long. The Tampa Bay raise. Yes. Not only did they win the American League East, not only did they have the best record in the American League, they have the one seed and they have had two sold out shows at the TROP in St. Petersburg. And guess what? When you give them a few extra outs, that is a no no as the Yankees found out in game two against the raise. Two to big balancer top spinner.
Nice play on bar flips it out for the first nine time. But it goes off the face of the dugout and in the score. Hoping both of those guys were almost first ball swinging. And that is the ball game and Brian Baker dominant as always. The Tampa Bay raise. Have taken the first two games. Yep. So there you go. Four errors on the night. I mean, look, you can't do that against a bad team. You do that against the Tampa Bay raise. You are D E A D. Am I right? Yeah, I mean, like there were errors. There were counted errors and there was a lot of plays that their hustle and speed also caused, you know, extra 90 feet that maybe weren't considered errors. Yeah, I mean, just a really bad start of the night for them in the first inning and Schlipp does a good job getting out of that, giving up only one run. I thought that could have been obviously way worse for the Yankees. But in the end, I mean, look, it's you can point to the heirs, but you can't scoring
two runs and going to get the job done. Cam Schlipp there. I know he was, you know, his defense didn't do him any. I didn't give him any help. But, you know, he doesn't provide the length that he typically would. I mean, they're counting on this guy and that starting pitching throughout the play. So yeah, this was a very raised type game top three guys banging the ball around the yard and everybody else just kind of causing some chaos and good outfield defense. So yeah, I mean, they've looked every bit as advertised in the Yankees, you know, the things that they're supposed to be doing well. They just, I mean, especially today did not do well. I do want to hear from Aaron Boone, his thoughts about what transpired there on Monday night. Here we go. And obviously a really rough night to say the least for us. So, you know, we got to get over it. You know, we've responded all year to difficult times and we got to do that again. We got to get ourselves up off the mat. Obviously tonight was just not good enough for us and certainly not good enough to beat
that club. So we got to get over it and, you know, playing for our lives, uh, uh, Tuesday night. Well, technically Wednesday, but who's keeping track of the schedule around here. Anyway, I do not want the Yankees giving mood to cloud what the rays are all about. They're more than just the cute little team that can run and, you know, they're going to make you pay for every little mistake. That's an F and great baseball team. They actually barreled up Cam Schlippler. I thought a ton of times tonight, right? Deluca took him right to the wall. Um, you know, I got it wrong to hit him hard there in the first inning to make it first and second. Uh, you know, there were a few other times where I thought that, uh, junior hit one to right center. That was a beautiful piece of hitting. It wasn't like seven or eight times, but against the guy who has consistently been far and away,
the best pitcher in the American league and walked around like he knew it. I thought they did a great job against him. They did the great job against him. All game long, they were putting the barrel on the ball. What are that, you know, ends in a, you know, something 105 or higher off the bat or not. They were putting the ball in play. They're working good at bats. And again, you know, if you just kind of look at how they're constructed, they, I mean, those top three guys, I mean, that's, that's, that is their big time off fence and they've been coming through so far. And then, you know, the guys in the middle and the guys in the bottom just kind of, you know, you're going to get big swings out of them. Big moments, big, you know, they're coming through in the clutches is something that every single team in the post is in needs. But it's, it, it almost felt like relentless from the race and the way that they attacked everybody. And we came into the game. A lot of the saber metric, saber metric, do you even use that word anymore? Saber metricions just brought that back from the dead right there. A lot of the analytically based guys, you were talking about swing path and how the race had one of the flattest swings pass of any team.
And that's good against the guy like Schlitler. They look like they had a plan that night. They were executing it. And I mean, there was a couple of instances where I thought they could have scored some more runs, which they didn't. And they, they just, they had control of this game from the get go. Peralta looked great, fired off. What do you, first three innings, perfect? Yep. Allow them to get that lead and then you just kind of build the momentum from there. Yeah. The race is one for 13 with runners in scoring position. So five two game easily could have been seven or eight runs for them on a decent night. Seymour was fantastic, giving them length. He gave them three full innings. You know, he did make what 16 starts or so this year. So he's got that built up in his system. Then when you can just drop the ball to your all star closer with one inning to go and a three run lead, you're feeling great. Overall. Yankee fans will look at this and say, what the hell happened all that hitting that we had in, you know, outscoring the Red Sox 18 to two. Well, let's keep in mind a couple of things. I thought the Red Sox starters in totally and great did a really good job.
It was at the bullpen unraveled after that. Miller was terrible in both of those games. And then nobody else could keep the Yankees from doing great things. But the Yankees in that series and we talked about it. That was a world series team. If they were going to run the bases effectively, look athletic, put the ball in play, not strike out, put pressure on the defense. They haven't done that at all. What do they have five hits so far through 18 innings? Something like that. Yeah. I mean, it disappeared. We were wondering because this is the offense. We saw the last four months of the season without air and judge. And that's not going to work out against Tampa Bayrays. Yeah. I mean, you're going up against one of the better and longer staffs that are in as in baseball. So yeah, I mean, you have to come through when you get the chance. It really they had a few instances, you know, belly up with the bases loaded. He goes to as a 102 27 and flies out the dead center.
There's a Spencer Jones ball that according to stat cast had more of a chance to get out then Ty Francis ball. That hits the catwalk. They catch that one like what's going on in our sport right now. So like there, there was a few chances. Ben Rice tried to put the team on his back. Nobody got on in front of him. But in the end, like I said, you know, like, for instance, you know, Chandler Simpson doesn't get an RBI single for this. I believe the score to feel this choice, but him just like chopping one, understanding, let's get the run in from third base, more pressure with his speed on the defense. Like those like, understand the situation, situational hitting is something that the rays are able to do. And again, like they did just they just have played this series so, so well. And now they're up to nothing with the chance to sweep the freaking Yankees. And I love it that they hit Chandler Simpson fifth in the order. There are no how many teams do you think would put a guy who's had zero career homers right in the middle of your order? It's, I mean, it's a different. They look at lineups a lot differently than they used to.
There's no doubt about that. And that started maybe like two years ago where, uh, okay, best hitter should hit second. And some some team still think the best that are stated first because you get as many of that as possible, but, um, you know, I think that for a so long, we just like, yeah, this makes sense. You know, let's put our biggest bopper for because there's going to be people on in front of him. You're best overall hitter three and a speedy content guy too. Uh, and then now we've just kind of changed everything way. We look at how the score runs and lineups and all that. Yeah. They're a fun team to watch. Get used to it because they're now one win away from making the world series for the first time since 2020. Uh, at the very least, they are guaranteed to go back to the top for game five over the weekend. We will discuss on our next show whether or not we think that New York can apply that pressure. Uh, Max Fried will get the ball for the Yankees. It'll be Nick Martinez who's going to get it for the Tampa Bay race. So it doesn't get any easier for New York, which once again, as I mentioned, has five hits so far in the two games.
Five for 58. That's a no 86 batting average. It struck out 19 times. They've had two of bats with a runner's in scoring position over 18. Yeah. Interesting stuff. Good for the race. Uh, let us know where you are. We know there's a lot of Yankee fans. What? Ray has won for 18. Like this is, this is a very interesting series so far, at least with runners in scoring position. All right. So we know there's a ton of Yankee fans that hang out with us in the comments section. Do is a favor. Do you have any faith whatsoever? Was it frustrating or are you like to screw it? Like this is after a few errors. I'm just, I'm done. I'm done with it. And Tampa Bay race fans, be proud. You always yell at us. We, you don't talk enough about us. Here we are. We're going to be talking about them because I think they're going to be around for a few more weeks. So let's go for it. And also a quick shout out to our partners at bookin.com making it easy for baseball fans to get where they want to be. Booking.com bookin. Yeah, an official travel partner of Major League Baseball Major League Baseball
trademarks used with permission. The magical ride. It continues for the Chicago White Sox. They are now a perfect four and oh, this postseason. They are now just one win away from the A L C S. On. Gummary shoots this up the right field. It's fair. And that will score two. Great in Montgomery with a two run two out double. And the White Sox had the lead in the six. Bailey with a drive to center field. Doyle going back track. Wall makes the catch. And the White Sox have done it again. Yeah, that's what we're about. We're always the same way. You know, for a young team, we're not too, you know, up and down. We don't ride the road coach. We got good leadership in the locker. And so, you know, for us, it's just about playing our game. You know, whether we're up or down, whatever it may be, you know, playing our game all the time, you know, more times than not. I like that.
That, of course, the voice of Sean Burke, who did not start the game. But boy was he the star. Five and a third innings pitch. He allowed one hit, struck out six on 83 pitches. He is far and away. They're best starting pitcher and has been. But the way he was deployed today allowed them to settle down when Cleveland took the early two nothing lead and then allowed the White Sox to chip away and eventually take the lead in the sixth. I don't know, man. This game was to start out so well for you guys. I thought you were going to come out here and just kind of roll and have this kind of, like I said about the Dodgers in the first game, a methodical win. I clearly was not the case. Now, you get K out of there who you are really scared of. You got Gavin Williams rolling in this game, striking out everybody. I'm curious to hear what you think about taking him out and putting some Browseeky in.
But there is, it seems like there's something special going on with these White Sox. Like Grindr, good at bats. The Montgomery ball we showed there that will shoot her down the line. What a beautiful swing. My draw just kind of not doing too much, getting one out there. And you can't say enough about the White Sox, you know, Burke and then in a Grant Taylor, who Grant Taylor, I believe. I hit a forerining save in game one and then throws seven pitches, all strikes and gets four outs with that. That was an interesting strategy for your guardians there at the end of the game, just hacking at everything that he threw. But it's starting to feel as we're one win away from the ALCS, starting to feel like a magical ride for the White Sox. Chris, we have talked about this a few times that the way the schedule sets up on the American League. Bracket every year, it flipped flops, right? So this year it went game one breather game two breather game three game four immediately after one another.
What it allowed Will Venable to do was continue what he did down in Houston. He could start an opener. He could use guys and didn't have to worry about having consecutive days because they erased Houston in two games and didn't have to go the full length with three. So it allowed them to use Hagen Smith as the opener in game one against the Astros and also bringing him back then a few days later in game one in Cleveland. It allowed him to use Taylor and throw 54 pitches in a game against the Houston Astros and then bring him back for a forerining save in game one against Cleveland. And then he deployed Sean Burke who got touched up for three home runs in starting game two in Houston. He goes, you know what? Cleveland's lefty heavy in the beginning of their lineup. We'll start Anthony K whom they've had trouble with. Well, K looked a little erratic. He didn't get it done.
Sean Newcombe who did not he had a great year but did not have a good September came in, settled it down after the Nathaniel Low bouncer that he threw down the first baseline a bit. Allowing Cleveland to run score a couple of runs and then Burke came in and it was over Cleveland's inability to tack on at that point and take a little bit of pressure off of that pitching was the biggest turning point in this game. I don't know where we go from here Chris I told you before we started tape and you were worried about hose air mirrors before the series. I figured hey this guy has done so many times but I told you I saw I forget who it who it was against and it might have been Burke. It was like a one one slide or writing his honey hold down and in not for a ball like in the middle of the strike zone and he just he just fouled it off and it's like man I've seen him turn on that ball so many times into the seats. And you had that to run lead and just couldn't add on from there and I we got close there with that Adele Homer what three feet away from tying the game which was which was pretty nuts but yeah I mean in the end it's it's four hits in the offense just not really there for your guards.
No I mean that's been it's been the same case with the Yankees in the Guardians Cleveland has seven hits to Chicago's pitching credit they have stranded 12 runners on base they've allowed just three runs in the first two games of the series. I am curious about something I think that in a five game series managers really have to change the way they manage. I was watching the game with Josh our oldest son. The Guardians are up three to two there's runners on and Sibraski has done a good job to get Tommy fam to have a wild pop up to on hell Martinez there's now two down and here comes Brad Montgomery who's a switch hitter. They want him hitting from the right side because his OPS is in the force as opposed to like the sevens from the left side. We're looking at each other and saying why isn't Kate Smith in the game right now. You have to with your inability to score you have to preserve the lead at this point and I'll figure out the later stuff later because Kate Smith has now pitched twice in this series without having a lead.
That don't help you. I'm all in he's your highest leverage guys you're trying to bring him into the highest leverage part of the game. I think Sibraski. He's a reverse split sky he's got good splits on both sides but even lower to right handed hitters the OPS and the fives you know look I think I think it's more of a tip your cap to braid him on Montgomery ambush down down the right field line like great great swing but I get what you're saying I get what you're saying I'm not I'm not opposed that at all I mean you guys kind of started that in Cleveland where you had a closer but you had another guy willing to go in and do different stuff for you with Andrew Miller. You have to talk to Kate Smith and is is he about that life can he get up on the job and like that yeah okay of course again he's thought that's where he started his career and that doesn't matter like when you lose that first game when Chicago's putting that much pressure on you with the way that they're pitching okay you're staying for him this like especially this game where you can't go down to you.
That's what you're talking about saying you get the last out of the sixth you let him pitch the seventh it's not ideal I'm not saying he's going to get the last 13 outs of a game that's or last 10 outs of a game sorry my math sucks on top of everything else. But I'm saying that you know what if I still have the lead going into the eighth I can live with that and if people say well why did you do that why didn't you save him well we needed to get out of that inning at that point and I have no problems with it I'm sure second and third to the ironic what's that second and third two outs right there when you got that hit second and third two outs. I mean look I'm I'm in and there is something to say that's to say about boosting the club morale and that could help your offense as well you get your guy come in shut it down okay boys let's go to work let's pick up our guy right here there is that mentality that goes around in the dugout after something like that so I I'm in on that I mean hey. Throw a text right on your guy voter well because now you have to manage game three that way but instead of it possibly being one one and it did that.
It doesn't guarantee anything right because they need pictures to get through the eighth and ninth so it's probably hunter gathers and a combination of a Tim Heron and a Sean Armstrong guys who have been good in this league guys who have done it in the playoffs before doesn't guarantee anything but I sure shit with the lead one Kate Smith out there with the ball and runners on base. Did before that okay yeah he had already faces three batters yeah yeah okay yes okay yeah so he didn't need to face another guy. Interesting stuff white socks now have a chance to do something they haven't accomplished in 120 years and that is when a playoff series at home last time it happened was the 1906 world series. You think that place is going to be rocking on Wednesday afternoon whoo look out that city is going to be going nuts we will break it down and have much more coming up on our next show.

Alright Monday was a travel day for the NLDS series game three in Atlanta is going to be a fun one you got Dodgers you got Braves you got Yamamoto and Chris sale it is tasty. You want to have confidence not only yourself but in your team but you know what what you did yesterday means nothing in this game for for today or tomorrow I'm a firm believer is as soon as you think you got a right where you want it it's going to be gone and you know very much so on the flip side if you think it's gone you might be able to get it so you know I have too much respect for for the game baseball I got too much respect for those guys on the other side of the field to think because of a previous experience that the next one was going to be anything other than a grind. Chris sale just said it all right there and he's talking about the last time he saw the Dodgers in late August I believe he had a one nothing complete game shuttied with 11 strikeouts I think he only allowed one hit that day in the meantime David Roberts did come out and said hey listen.
Chris sale should be getting his flowers don't forget about our guy Yamamoto so who are we going to be talking about more after game three which starting picture you love questions like this to the greatest pictures in baseball let's talk who's going to do better I don't know man come on I didn't say that what I said we were talking more about so that could be that could be a guy who gets shelled so Chris sale to start against the Dodgers this year 16nings pitched 18 Ks 113 year A. He walked nobody which is you know I like that that sexy right there that's ridiculous um and then here's Yamamoto stats oh and one with a one four two six and a third four hits one walk eight Ks so like another dominant start who am I going to be talking about more
I want to say it's Yamamoto I want to say it's Yamamoto just because we've talked about Chris sale a lot they've had to go through the wild card round you know like the Dodgers this is their first show we haven't even seen Yamamoto in these playoffs it's game three and we haven't seen Yamamoto yet which is you know you can question that I think you're the Dodgers so I just think you'll forget how good he is and how dominant he's been in his postseason run here or postseason says he's had with the Dodgers I'll go Yamamoto with a caveat saying sale could freaking shut the Dodgers out in a heartbeat tomorrow. Well the Dodgers numbers against Chris sale collectively are borderline horrible sub 600 OPS against him the only two guys who really have decent numbers are Freddie and Mookie. So apparently if you're first name can be shortened and have fun with it and have IE at the end you're fine against Chris sale other than that you're going to be the creek a little bit Yamamoto's playoff numbers are borderline certifiably insane seven and one two two five ERA and nine career playoff starts and oh let's just remember what he did last year in game six and seven of the World Series to not only solidify the back to back championships for the LAD.
But also the World Series MVP. So with that being said I am all about gray beards and old men I think that Chris sale is going to apply the screws here and be just this much better than Yamamoto. I didn't say the brave are going to win the game but I think he's going to be this much better. So you didn't really answer your question either so okay you didn't what I really wanted to say about this game is I really feel like it's either Matt Olson or Freddie Freeman to do something special that is truly my gut feeling whether that's Freddie Freeman having like this unbelievable a bat with runners in scoring position against Chris sale whether that's Olson clipping one over the chop house against Yamamoto like I feel like one of these two guys is going to win the game. For the respective teams I also know that both these guys are the best hitters on their team or one of if not the best on the 13 so it's like a super hot take but that's just what I got my gut right now okay I kind of dig that Ronald Kunia's been getting a little bit of heat that he hasn't played well down there.
I wonder if he gets going you know what I'm going to say I think we haven't seen a key K appearance and I'm talking about like playoff key K right okay like different animal key K it might be time for him to do something special. We were sitting out there in right field at the game on Sunday night and so right there with the Kunia and man like the I've never seen him throw like him I've I it's weird like I haven't really noticed this I've seen it on you know I've seen him throw what am I saying but I was watching up close and he just he has like extra dexterity in his limbs. Like he has some sort of hitch in the back here where he gets like extra like range of motion and just whips that thing him playing catch with the bullpen catcher between innings was so impressive. I could I could also see him. Tatering of all tomorrow. Dave Roberts did say this. He is contemplating moving the order around and that would include moving show hey down.
He said I'd have to discuss it first do you think that's a real possibility or not I do but I hear here's where I really think it's can't be lower than fifth anything after five is just respect. Yeah I don't think he I don't think that would have I mean what there's only three spots other than that Chris right so here's what I think that's it. I think it would go mookie Freddy will Smith. Teo and then us and then show hey so five that's what I think and that doesn't I can't go you can't put him six is that for whatever reason six is disrespectful. No I think that that's I think that's pretty good actually. I think we just figured it out for Dave Roberts are you concerned at all that the braves bullpen which obviously with two bullpen games. Is now going to work for the third time in four days and that's going to start to show a maybe a little wear and tear. It could but we just talked about Chris sale the dominance he's had against the Dodger so like you know. You expect him if I'm just candy capping a line he's going to get into the sixth inning at least.
If you're the Dodger you hope not but. It could it could or they can be they can be lights out again I mean this is this is the time where. I feel like back to back like days or pitching multiple times that you're still going to have that adrenaline going you're still you're still the stuff is still going to be there now. Can you control that enough can you still have like the conviction on your pitches the feel for like your arm is going to feel fine these guys are not going to be tired it just doesn't happen especially. This early on taught to be game seven of the world series whatever it may be but right now division series with the off days we've had like I feel like they're going to be just fine as far as stuff goes. But when you when you see them I think that's the main thing you see the guys more and more that's when a hitter starts out of the advantage got it well Atlanta's relievers certainly in game two. Out of this world great went this in particular 47 pitches can imagine he'll be available but rice alleges is well rested he'll be ready to go multiple innings.
I think when tesses up you do with 47 pitches huh. Day off yes okay. But for an inning tops is not going to go 47 again. No of course not but I wouldn't expect more unless he has a real light easy inning a nine pitch inning or something. But if they make him work and he throws between 15 and 20 kid that's 21 and important if they do want to win this whole thing they're going to need him down the line obviously so because Atlanta is going to have to repeat this formula if they do advance pass the Dodgers and get to the NLCS. One other thing I love the back and forth I ask for your comments all the time I want some thoughts here on who's got the edge Chris sale Yamamoto Dodgers braves a lot to digest same thing with the previous. Series that we talked about white socks guardians all that sort of stuff just here's one thing. And I know that I probably shouldn't even be saying this but I am I'm going to say it.
You fans and it just happens to a lot of it's not individual teams I'm shouting out this is all fan bases. You hear what you want to hear from us. Stop it. Stop it. I don't have a rooting interest in either the NL series I have rooting interest in one series and I'm not doing great in that series. So when somebody like Kyle puts in the comments for the show we had that was released Monday morning the excuses Trevor Chris made for the Dodgers one bullpen bullpen games are hard for hitters to show Hayes hurt three walks were a problem. Kyle I'm appreciative that you hang out you got it wrong you got it wrong we started out by praising Fentes by praising Kerr by praising Walt Weiss by praising money Mike by praising all of the relievers that came out of the bullpen and shoved did we talk about show Hay possibly being hurt.
Yes that tends to happen when he is the biggest ticket item in the entire sport and hasn't played well for two and a half months. We're going to talk about it are we going to talk about it when Blake snow who was dominant last year walks five guys we are going to mention that as well are we going to say oh boy the Dodgers that's tough because they had to go in some bullpen no I did ask a former majorly kid or how tough it is when you face four different pictures in four that's because I was curious so Kyle. Thank you for being here I hope you're still here after this little chat that we've had back and forth but don't just leave comments and not expect me to come back. Hi guy we both were in the comments section today we were we didn't call that all for all the talk about the tipping pitches and stuff like that we're just talking about it stop they was we'll get to Gary Sanchez who was asked about it asked about it on the day off don't worry. Kyle I want you to know that today's episode is sponsored by Fox one MLB on fox is streaming on Fox one.
This is the time of year baseball today was made for the race of the world series officially on and Fox one has your front row seat every walkoff matters every bullpen decision gets dissected every series it's a test on whether a team is actually built for the fall classic and Fox one is where MLB on Fox streams from marquee matchups to lights out performances Fox one is your home for MLB on Fox live as it happens it's also on demand and it goes all the way Fox one is streaming the 2026 world series we're not talking about a highlight package not a recap show the actual games live as they unfold at home or on the go you can watch it live or on demand to fit your schedule whatever works so the race to the world series it's officially on never miss a moment by watch him will be live on Fox one we want you to stream it now. Willemawaki Brewers make their first world series since 1982 they try to officially take the next step on Tuesday out in San Diego they are feeling good overall but now the series shifts to pet go park and we know that is a very very different place to play baseball
Dustin May against Nick Pavella here is Manny Machado you know not the ideal position you want to be in um but these these boys this group um you know we've been up against the wall a year a lot of people didn't think we were being this position to begin with and here we are that's true I'm one of those guys Manny how much do you think being back home in San Diego will help this team I mean I think it'll help a lot but you know they're still you're still looking at a team that just doesn't let you up for air when you make mistakes or they're going to continue to put pressure on you so look being at home is great we know what their home record is and I think that hitters there feel much more comfortable even though Milwaukee is a great place to hit like there's just something about home cooking that I could see them rallying for some some homers or you know something like that you know like I feel like I can see big homers coming from them in the end how much is it really mean for them probably not that much not now during the regular season yes
uh but that going up against the brewers down to nothing it helps a little bit but not enough for me to like sway into like hey man like they got a good shot the series because they don't right now they have a very you know poor chance to continue to move on Milwaukee just just they just don't let teams up for air man. So I'm excited for them. I hope they make it a series. I just don't think the home field advantage is going to be enough for them against this team. This brewer's team is too good. I think they have a huge advantage going into game three. I think they have a big pitching advantage. I know Nick Pabeta has only made five starts since he came off the injured list. At best he's going to give them four or five innings is my guess. And if he's shaky at any point, I mean, Stamman's going to come out of that dugout and wear out a path between the dugout and the pitcher's mound. He doesn't have a choice here. But Dustin May is kind of an interesting character himself. In fact,
he threw more than three and two thirds only once in six September appearances. I think that Pat Murphy's got to be really careful here though. How he does this because he did have to rely on his relievers and awful lot in building a two nothing lead. You would think that with Miz the way he was going, he would get you at least into the sixth. That didn't happen. He threw four innings. Logan Henderson, he did a little bit better. He threw five. So they still had to piece it together for nine more innings out of the bullpen. If they're in a great position, I understand using your high leverage guys, but let's not act like you're down to nothing. And I think I worry a little bit of that with Pat Murphy. Like, I would expect to see maybe a Kyle Harrison who did not pitch well at all down the stretch. He could be an early guy in the game. If Dustin May doesn't have it, you're looking to be like, I'm not really following what you're saying. You think that the saying you have a good chance of getting to the brewer's bullpen? What I'm saying is I am worried that Pat
Murphy might step on the accelerator too much. I think he is so gangbusters about everything that if let's say they're down for one early, don't use the wrong reliever. That's all I'm saying. And don't open the door for San Diego to push this back to Milwaukee. Okay, sure. If down four, one is he going to try to finish the job? No, but I fully expect him if they're up two to one or three to one, Milwaukee, they're going to throw their guys. And I think any of them really care. Again, I think all these guys are ready to throw almost every single day. Now that your effectiveness can suffer from that. But I don't I don't see it that way. I think that Milwaukee just got to the vaunted Pojrez bullpen. Like their best guy took a hit and every single one of them saw that. And I think that to
me is like, that was the thing that you can't do is let the podres have a lead and then bring their guys in. And Milwaukee just said, okay, check it out. We're going to do it. And they did it. And I think that means more than anything in this series. So I did pick Milwaukee win the series. I picked them to win the world series at the beginning of the post season. So I obviously believe in them. You also have to know they were tied. These two teams were tied in game one going into the seventh inning. And the brewers were losing until the final swing of the game. So it's not like boy, two nothing lead. And it doesn't feel it doesn't feel like the two American league series that are two nothing. It feels are just over. It just feels like Tampa and Chicago. And it's pretty firm control. I have the brewers being just a better overall baseball team. I do. I you know how much I
respect the podger to talk about them all the time. I do think they can get hot. And that's great. And it's really fun when they are. This brewers team, I think is we're going to look back and they're going to be in the world series. And we're going to go shit like they played great baseball. I told you I picked them all the stuff is that the margin. Okay, margin between the guardians and the white socks has been this. The margin between the Yankees and the raise has been this. The margin between the brewers and the raise have been this. And that's all the matters. That's all the matters of the wins. That's it. But to act like it's too nothing like the other series or too nothing. I think is foolish. How many times is the brewers lost three games in a row this year? So the last time it happened was in San Diego. It's a great question. Okay. Love that answer. Love that love that you had that in the clip, baby. Yeah. And so it doesn't happen very often. I mean, they are they were
the best team in baseball during the regular season. Second straight regular season. And I actually do think they're going to finish this series in San Diego. But I do think we're going to have one more game to talk about. You don't you don't think that you don't need to talk to Craig Stamman about using that bullpen a little early tomorrow. You don't think he's going to get a little trigger. And like, oh, hey, Povetta, like, whatever you start to get in any trouble, like, let's bring our guys in. I feel like that could end up being a problem covering too many outs for him. Yeah. It would surprise me if Povetta threw a pitch in the fourth. Okay. Sam, but I think kind of same. Yeah. Maybe, maybe he gets an out. Maybe he gets 10 outs. I don't know. But then again, I thought, Jesus, Luzardo was going to get five to seven and he got 15. So you never know. Let us know. Brewer's fans, how are you feeling? Padres fans, are you a little confident? Now that you're going back home and you're going to play in front of that rock as fan base, it's going to be fun. Quick reminder, this episode is sponsored
by team mobile baseball. Of course, it's always been a game of inches. Now it's also a game of seconds. Team mobile and MLB have teamed up to bring ABS challenged all 29 ball parks across the United States. Folks, this is not a minor upgrade. It is the most significant new technology in the history of the sport and it's all powered by T-Mobile. With every pitch thrown, ABS challenge uses real-time precision to verify the call, giving them the support they need. There's no delays, there's no guesswork. There's just accuracy at the speed of the game demands. Thanks to ABS challenge, T-Mobile is helping power the moments that define the game. When performance and reliability are non-negotiable, MLB turns to T-Mobile. That is not a coincidence. That's what happens when the most innovative network in the country powers the most data-driven sport in the entire world. T-Mobile powers MLB's most ambitious technology and America's best network powers your connection to baseball. Home or away, every pitch, every game each and every day. T-Mobile, it's better over here. All right, one other quick thing before we get out of here. On Monday morning show,
you showed us how Mason Miller may have been tipping pitches. You felt like he was. The guy he faced before Jackson Churio knocked in the game winner and was Gary Sanchez. He was asked about that possibility during the off day. I don't know if he was tipping or not, seriously. I don't. If he was, I wasn't aware of it. I think even if he wasn't, we were aware of hitting 104. It's not easy by any means hitting a pitcher of that caliber and pitches of that caliber. There's nothing easy about that. But yeah, again, I really don't. I was not aware he was tipping. I was focused on other things in the game. Gary, of course, using a translator there. Do you think he was telling the truth? Maybe. Look, what I said was, there's a 90% chance they had his pitches or they knew what he was doing because the video evidence of it is just too much. And Jimmy put out a big breakdown of it and he's he's went back. He's went back and
looked at a ton of video and sometimes it's there more than other times. It doesn't matter. If you go back and look at him, like that is very obvious. So the brewers had it. Whether they were able to relay it or not is a completely different thing. Whether guys want it or not is a completely different thing because there are guys that don't want to know what pitch is coming. And then, yeah, it takes us certain type of ball player to do it. Not everyone can do it. Joey Vado put out a tweet today saying, I never got a pitch relay to me my entire big league career, which I was that sarcastic or was it not? It's crazy to me. We were we tried all the time. So maybe this is just, you know, being around Paul Maldor, Tory Hunter type thing. But like that was something we tried relentlessly. And I know now, and I know now, because I've talked to a lot of different people in different organizations, they're all in on this. There's there's multiple people in every organization that's scouring video. So like this stuff, this stuff doesn't go unnoticed. So like, look, Gary, maybe he didn't want to maybe he didn't know. Or maybe he just didn't want to say.
But I guarantee San Diego, these things happen so fast now. So that's why it's a little bit different. That's why I don't feel bad about talking about stuff like this because the Padres now, they knew from the get go. Or after that game, I'm sure they knew that something was going on. So like, they'll go back and fix it. It just happens quicker now. Back in the day, you should not want to give it up. So you can continue to use it, especially in a series when you're facing this guy and the closer, if you have something, oh my gosh, it's amazing. But yeah, I mean, look, it's not 100% they were giving those signs, but I guarantee they had that. It's just whether or not they executed it. All right, just let me ask you this in 30, 30 seconds. Sorry. Yeah. No, you're good. The next time Mason Miller takes the man, which I'm sure he will at some point in game three, is he thinking about it? No, he'll just fix it. He'll just jam his hand into his glove, even like more on all of his pitches. So try to hide it more. I guarantee, I guarantee tomorrow, if he comes into pitch, you will not see that gap. You will not see this,
this, and that's he might or sleeves something, something to hide it, something will happen where you will not see the difference in his hand placement. I guarantee that. Is there a game four? No, I think there is. Who's leading as we had to game four in Atlanta Dodgers or Braves? I guess that's so tough. That's the hardest one to think about. I know, Sail vs. Yamamoto. I think the, I think it's the Braves, dude. I think he shows up. I think it's the Braves. I think so too. Give us your predictions on the two NLDS series, and then we will break it down again after those game threes. So make sure you look for the latest edition of this show.
