About The Podcast:
Dad’s Bedtime Stories is the family-friendly podcast that turns listener ideas into immersive bedtime adventures kids (and parents) can enjoy together.
I originally created these stories for my own children on nights when they couldn’t fall asleep. What started as a simple bedtime ritual has grown into a world of imagination designed to help families wind down together at the end of the day.
Play an episode for your kids and encourage them to imagine they are the hero of the story — exploring distant planets, training dragons, discovering magic, or traveling through space — all while lying safely in bed with their eyes closed.
Each 15–30 minute adventure is filled with science fiction and fantasy themes kids love: spaceships, dinosaurs, dragons, wizards, and whatever wild idea we dream up next. The stories are exciting, creative, and always safe for young listeners.
When the adventure ends, the episode gently transitions into calming music to reduce distractions and help your child drift off to sleep — giving you a quiet moment to step out of the room and enjoy some well-earned alone time.
Imagination first. Sleep second. Peace and quiet third.

Hello friends from across the nation and around the world. My Martin and you are listening to Dad's bedtime stories. And tonight we're going back into one of the most requested worlds I have. Wizardcraft. Wizardcraft 3.0 to be exact. We're obviously going to need a suggestion. Hi, I would like to suggest a story for the Wizardcraft 3.0. My name is Henry and who's my idea? So I want the Godzilla, a giant dino, to attack at your village with the golem king and then you find out that the Godzilla dino is under mind control and then you free him and
then he becomes your friend because he felt like he needs to repay the favor of freeing him and he thinks he's forever in debt and he becomes one of your best friends. Bye, I love your podcast. Also the giant dino can speak telepathically. Well Henry, that's an excellent idea. So excellent that I knew I was going to pick this episode or the suggestion next a little while ago and I even did some foreshadowing for it. Not sure if you noticed that. Anyways I just want to give a big thank you to everyone who's been listening to the podcast. Those of you who've been rating it and reviewing it, wherever it is, you're listening. I really, really appreciate it. And thank you to those of you who let me know that there was like an advertisement with an alarm clock going off in the podcast. Just to explain, ads are kind of automatically inserted so it's not like the company decided
I want to go on a bedtime podcast and put an alarm clock on there. It was really just that their ad got automatically put on a bunch of podcasts that might relate to it. But I have reported that one so we can block any alarm clock sounds. It may not be active right away to be blocked. So I'm really sorry if you got another alarm clock in a mattress advertisement. But it should be gone soon. Thank you to those of you who let me know what was happening because as you know, I don't directly select the ads and decide where they're put on. So I appreciate it. And speaking of ads, we have them because they financially support the podcast. But I'm also very passionate to make sure you have a way to have ad-free episodes. So for as little as $1 a month, you can get the podcast completely ad-free through Patreon.
You get a private RSS feed that can be on a host of your choice. For example, like you can upload it to Spotify and that sort of thing, but that one doesn't come with any ads other than when I ramble on about things myself, but but no inserted ads. Now it's that time again. Time to get as comfy as you can in that bed. Close your eyes and imagine yourself doing what the kid in the story does. You wake up to a familiar set of words floating in front of your eyes. Wake up. You mentally select yes and the world slowly forms around you. You're lying in your bed inside your house in the unnamed mountain village. Beside you, your emerald cat golem is curled up near the end of the bed. And beside you, both JD and Grayson are waking up as well.

Your continued magical development and the growth of your settlement have increased your level. You have reached level 9. New skill point awarded. You now have three unused skill points. Three, you say? You almost opened the skill menu.
Almost. But again, the last few times you waited until you knew what you needed. It turned out a lot better. You decide to continue with that strategy and dismiss the screen. The Emerald cat golem lifts its head and someone starts hammering on your front door. Sayah. It's, it's an emergency. You JD and Grace and I'll immediately jump out of your beds. Your armor forms around you as you rush across the room and throw the door open. A young man wearing the village guard armor is standing outside. Completely out of breath. The golem kings army. He says. They're approaching from the Eastern Valley. Your stomach drops. How far?
In its maybe, maybe less. You turn towards the Emerald cat golem and well, your two friends. Come on everyone. The three of you or four of you with the cat run out the door straight toward the town hall. People are already moving through the streets. Guards are shouting instructions. Copper golems are rolling toward the walls. Iron golems are marching in groups. You race through the front doors of the town hall where Gus is waiting. I believe it's happening. Gus says. I know. You look around at the three of them. Then you remember the netherite and that wildly full feeling inside your inventory. We can't waste another second. You reach into your inventory and release the three large piles of dark metal onto the
floor. Grayson's eyes widen. Then now world netherite. Exactly. I'm teaching all three of you the spell. Now. You start with JD placing your hands against his temples and closing your eyes. You remember the incredible heat. The lava, the feeling of netherite refusing to bend until it's surrounded by temperatures hot enough to soften almost anything else. You remember forming enormous limbs and forcing life into nearly indestructible bodies. The memories flow into JD. When you step back, he stares at the netherite. I understand. And I better take this to the mines where there's some lava.
He quickly gathers a section of the netherite into his inventory and runs out the door. You repeat the process with Gus. Then Grayson. Upon finishing, you order each of them out of the door, up to the mines where there's a large section of lava deep below. The perfect space to create and spawn. A netherite golem. They'll, of course, have to use their mech suits and work together to fly the things back out of the cavern, but it should be doable in a short-ish period of time. In the meantime, you begin gathering golems and giving them orders. It turns out that most of it can happen mentally, at least to the golems that you already control. Gather at the walls, you say, defend the village.
Tell the townspeople to get ready. The golems all begin to gather. The townspeople start climbing into the newly-made mechs that Grayson created, and all of you move toward the town gates. At this point, you've gathered and created a lot of golems with the help of sharing the spell with your friends and townspeople. You have a veritable army of stone golems. A similar number of copper golems, though their combat ability isn't wildly high. Then you have groups of golden golems that can change shapes. Diamond golems that are wildly powerful. A few of them infused with laser-shooting ability. And of course, a couple emerald cat golems that sprint over the rooftops and surround
the village. There are more than you can easily count. And before long, you hear the enormous nether-right golems climbing down the stairs from the mines to join your nether-right golems. They tower above almost everything else. Grayson looks out at the army. Ah, sharing those spells was probably the smartest thing you ever did. Then, you hear mechanical footsteps as the people begin arriving inside their diamond golemexuits. Village guards, hunters, minors, and anyone else that had even a little inclination to fight and defend the village. They connect to them using the neural systems, making themselves and the mechs, well, one.
Realizing that you, Grayson, JD, and Gus are the only ones not in mechsuits, you produce yours from your inventory. It opens up and you climb inside. Your friends do the same. The neural connector touches the back of your head. And instantly, you become enormous. Your mechanical fingers flex. Your shoulder lasers move with your eyes. JD, Grayson, and Gus do the same. Meh, too bad there's can't all fly. JD says, looking at the other mechs. Eh, not enough nether-right to upgrade them. Grayson answers, well, we always need goals for the future. You look toward the gate. Close it. You order. Iron golems drag the enormous doors shut.
Stone braces slam into place. Then everything becomes quiet. Until you start to hear. Boom. Boom. Something enormous is coming. Something that shakes the ground itself. You activate your jets and rise up above the wall. JD and Grayson follow. And then you see it. The dinosaur. The gigantic Godzilla-like creature towering above the trees. Its body is covered in scars and pieces of armor. Each step shakes the valley. And standing directly on top of its head is Gary, the Golem King.
Find him marches an entire army. Hundreds of stone golems, lines of iron golems, copper golems, and even several diamond golems. You stare. For someone called the Golem King, you almost expected more of the advanced ones. But then you realize something. Gary's probably been creating most of them himself for years. One stone golem per day, one iron golem per week, diamond even less often. You on the other hand shared your magic. He wanted to keep the power for himself. And somehow that's made your village stronger than his army. At least the ones he brought with him.
Gary raises a staff. His voice magically blasts across the valley. Surrender! Nobody responds. Order your golems to stand down. Stay belong under the command of the Golem King. And them over. Surrender your village. And perhaps I will allow you to remain here. You hover above the wall. Never. Gary's expression darkens. So be it. He lowers his staff. Attack! The valley explodes into motion. Stone golems charge first. Hundreds of them slam into the front lines of your army, with a sound like an avalanche. Rock fists smash into rock bodies.
Stone arms break away. Heads crack apart. Golems burst into puffs of cloud and loot. And almost immediately you see the difference between Gary's army and yours. Your golems flow through the battlefield like liquid. One turns both arms into enormous blades and slaces through three enemy stone golems in a single spinning attack. Another forms its hands into giant hammers and smashes an iron golem from both sides. Your diamond golems simply walks straight through the fighting. One enemy stone golem jumps onto the diamond's back. The diamond golem reaches behind itself, grabs the stone creature and throws it into two others. All three explode in a puff of smoke leaving behind loot.
Then the netherite golems arrive. Then the swings in enormous arm through a group of stone golems and five of them disappeared once. Another grabs an iron golem in each hand and smashes them together. Even Gary's diamond golems hesitate when the gigantic black creatures approach. And from the walls...fire. As of shoulder lasers glow red, the villagers inside their mexuits unleash a storm of laser fire. Beams rip across the battlefield. Stone golems de-spawn. Iron golems disappear. Copper golems roll desperately between blasts. You hover above everything else inside your flying mexuit. They're winning. JD says.
Yeah, Grayson answers. Or actually winning pretty easily. You look toward Gary. I mean, he doesn't look worried. Which is probably not good. Gary raises his staff. The dinosaur roars. The sound so loud you feel it through the mexuit. Then it charges. Oh no. The creature slams into the battlefield and stone golems fly everywhere. Your stone golems. Its enormous foot comes down and crushes an entire group of them. Its tail sweeps through the valley and sends two iron golems and a golden golem flying through the air. Focus on the dinosaur. You yell to your friends. You blast forward. JD, Grayson and Gus follow.
All eight of your shoulder lasers fire. The beams slam directly into the dinosaur's chest but barely reacts. JD throws both mechanical hands forward. Lightning explodes from his fingertips. Crack. The dinosaur roars but continues moving. Grayson fires lasers into its legs. You create a massive concentrated fireball between your hands and launch it directly at the creature's head. There's a boom. Smoke covers its head and for a second you think it might have worked. Then the dinosaur bursts through the smoke, apparently unfazed. The enormous creature reaches the village wall. One foot rises. Oh no. And slams down. The stone wall breaks beneath it.
Blocks explode inward. Copper golems immediately begin rolling away from the collapsing section. The dinosaur takes another step into the village. You reach out with telekinesis and push against its chest with everything you have. Your monobar starts to drop rapidly but the dinosaur slows. How is it so strong? Then you notice Gary. He's still standing on the dinosaur's head. His eyes are closed. His hands are gripping his staff. Every time he concentrates, the dinosaur moves. He's not using any of his other powers. He's too focused on the dinosaur. You think about the creature and something inside your mind snaps into place.
The animal controls spell. You feel something. Some sort of connection between the dinosaur and Gary. He's controlling it. What, JD asks? Gary is using some sort of animal control spell to control the dinosaur. You immediately open your skill menu. The battlefield seems to slow around you. Three unused skill points. You mentally search for some sort of animal control spell tree and an ability glows in place. The first section of it reads, animal handler improves your ability to communicate with and control ordinary animals.
Obviously that won't be enough but you select it in order to unlock the higher powers. Animal control skill level 1 unlocked animal handler. The next skill appears. Beastmaster. Next master allows control of larger, stronger, more intelligent and more magical creatures. You quickly select it. Animal control skill level 2 unlocked. Beastmaster. Then the third appears. You read it carefully. Dominance breaker. Use you to seize control of an animal already under magical influence. Provided your animal control skill and your willpower is higher than that of the existing
controller. That's exactly what I need. You select it. Animal control skill level 3 unlocked. Dominance breaker. The world speeds up again as you release the menu. You reach out with your mind and suddenly, you're somewhere else. Not physically, physically you're still floating in the air in front of the giant dinosaur. But mentally you feel as though you're inside the dinosaur's mind. You can feel its anger. Its fear, its confusion and underneath all of it. Gary yelling at TARAK. Mentally speaking anyways. The command slams through the dinosaur's mind and you mentally push back with STOP.
For a second the dinosaur freezes. Gary's eyes snap open and he looks directly at you. Then he focuses once again. His voice enters the creature's mind. Oh, pay me. The dinosaur takes another step. But you push harder. STOP. Its foot freezes mid-air. Your head begins to ache. Gary is strong but you can sense that his animal control ability isn't as powerful as yours. You push deeper. Past his commands. Past the fear until you reach the center of the dinosaur's mind itself. Can you hear me? You ask. And the voice answers inside your mind. Yes.
You almost lose concentration. You can talk. Yes. Please. Make him. STOP. Gary pushes again. Destroy them. You feel his magic slam into yours. Your mind battles against his inside the dinosaur. Gary commands. You resist. Gary pushes. You push back. And then you gather every bit of concentration you can. And you force Gary's mind out of the dinosaur. Get out. You shout. And something snaps. The dinosaur's eyes flash. Gary stumbles backward on its head. What? No.
You feel the connection change completely. The dinosaur is yours. You wish you a command. Turn around. And slowly the dinosaur turns. Gary looks down. What are you doing? The dinosaur swings its head violently. And Gary flies off through the air. At the last second he grabs his staff and it begins glowing beneath them. It shoots into the air like some sort of magical flying broom. Eh, retreat. Every screams and the remaining golems begin backing away. Even Gary can tell that he has no chance in this battle without the dinosaur. The dinosaur roars and charges. It smashes through a group of enemy stone golems.
Its tail crushes an iron one. And one of Gary's remaining diamond golems tries to block its path. The dinosaur simply steps on it. It disappears with a crunch and a puff of smoke leaving behind a little pile of diamond. Gary flies above the trees. He turns around on the staff and fires a bolt of lightning behind him. You dodge to the side as the blast streaks past. This isn't over. He yells and then disappears into the distance. For several seconds nobody moves. And then someone shears. Another person joins in. Within minutes the entire village erupts. You land in the middle of the battlefield.
JD and Grace and land beside you. Your golems stand surrounded by piles of loot. Iron stone copper gold. Even diamond. You look to ward the army. Focusing on the fighting type golems. You know the stone, iron, gold, diamond, emerald. You command. Collect everything useful and bring it to the town hall. As if golems immediately get to work collecting the loot from the battlefield. You look towards the copper golems next. You guys start to rebuild this wall. Under, stop. The copper golems respond and immediately get to work. Then you look up. Way up at the dinosaur.
That standing completely still waiting for your command. You frown. No. What? JD asks. This isn't right. You close your eyes and connect to the dinosaur again. I took control because I had to stop Gary, but I'm not going to keep controlling you. The dinosaur seems surprised. You are releasing me. Yes. You respond. And you let go. Completely. The magical connection disappears. For a moment you wonder if you've made a terrible mistake. The dinosaur lowers its enormous head until one gigantic eye is looking directly at you. Then it's met with opens.
Thank you. Everyone freezes. JD slowly looks toward you. It can actually talk. Apparently. The dinosaur continues. That man controlled me for a very long time. I could see what I was doing. I could feel it. But I could not stop. You don't have to worry about him anymore. The dinosaur lifts its head. You freed me when you could have simply taken his place. It looks toward the damaged village. For that I will always be a friend to this place. It's Protector. You don't know what's anything.
You respond. Perhaps not. The dinosaur turns toward the mountains. But if you ever need me, call. I will come. Where are you going? You ask. Somewhere. Quiet. I believe I could use a rest. Honestly, you feel the same way. The dinosaur slowly disappears toward the mountain that wraps around your village. You make your way back inside the wall. You deactivate your mech suit and climb outside. The people are beginning to celebrate. Tables are dragged out of the town hall into the town square. People start to appear.
People begin playing music and someone lights a gigantic bonfire. For the first time in what feels like forever, nobody is preparing for something terrible. They won. You won. Hours later when the celebration finally starts to quiet down, you make your way back towards your house. Your emerald cat gold and follows beside you in cat form. You open the door, drop onto your bed, and a familiar prompt appears. Sleep? You mentally select yes. Instantly your muscles begin to relax. Your arms and legs sink into the mattress. Outside the village is already rebuilding. Gary's arm is, well, retreating.
And somewhere in the mountains, a gigantic dinosaur is sleeping peacefully for the first time in a very long while. Your eyes close and your mind begins to drift off towards thoughts of new spells, new worlds, and whatever Gary might try next. Good night everyone.
