No, I know I know no you don't know everyone agrees that I'm the only one That's not wrong Right or wrong they're back touch your heart on the sports Hub You know I got idea perfect The email bit we should do the email bit it's great idea let's do the email bit All right the email segment by us is powered by Jeffrey Glassman injury lawyers if you've been hurting a car or a car accident you got to get Glassman Just don't just send an email call all sevens it's 617777777777 or if Is it got to get glassman dot com? All right first before we get to the emails There is Something from our intern Tyler Milliken's cousin who has come back for a second round of internship
He enjoyed it so much the first time he's back a second time in the first time he was here hardy He became very well known for his Songs Sometimes celebrating the Celtics sometimes celebrating the Bruins See the people hanging in the bar in the evening or Thursday night A little light of shine and off the park can let's be know everything's all right I'm panoramic Make me feel fine Blowing through the rafters in my mind Now that was you know a celebration of the championship But sometimes he was just you know focusing on one player And if you go up there you better just be aware of a man named Jalen Brown Now Jalen more than trouble
You see he stand about six foot six All the analysts call him a high flyer for all the madgers call him dead He got out of the rhyming he feels not necessary But now one of his favorite subject matters over the years has been none other than T.B. 12 Tom Brady And a lot has been made of Tom Brady's departure here and now in some ways a return as Tom Brady's Las Vegas Raiders will be at your let's Stadium on Sunday and this is inspired Tyler Milligan's cousin our intern to pen a new song Okay, so this was his idea. Oh, this is all his well Yeah, you had to jump in and you know make it radio suitable. He said he sends me the drive vocals He's like I have a song and then I have to do something with it. We'll see how much we can get through yeah, it's two minutes So I can assure you We are not getting through too many. Okay, right. Okay. I mean that remains you've heard it. I have in our here we go
Here comes Brady's Vegas Raiders. It's just arcades back to he wanted to keep playing he wanted to do it here He wanted to get in ownership So this is father of mine by ever clear correct. Okay. I just wanted to flex and say I knew that Because I mean huge ever clear guy some timely commentary from Michael Felger this that was just from his show yesterday. Oh really And he had to go to Raiders defy Of time Tell me where I got you see Tom Brady is the defier of time. Now how is that Because he looks He looks at his time. He looks fantastic as he gets older. Well, he's had a tremendous amount of that's not important That's not important to this conversation. He still looks good doesn't hurt no it doesn't hurt at all. I mean you're not important I would go so far as to say he's had too much work done because it's obvious he's had worked on He's almost got a Marlar go face going like what like the females get where it's almost a cartoonish
Which you know again is better than that guess looking real old all he's missing is the lips that would that would be the Look those lips. Oh look I could have just had to go up and give him a smack you know I get I didn't interview with a guy last week. It's given I just when I said that I realize his son is stupid but and they're like you know like what about they Asked something about Tom Brady. I'm like I've never been in the same room as Tom Brady Which is kind of amazing that I've lived here for 20 years in Dunn Sports Talk radio in some give or take for 17 years And that like I've never even been at anything that Tom Brady's been in the same place as I mean I've been to a Patriots came he's been at or played in obviously but I've never been in like at any event like I'm not even talking about meeting him like a Big ass event like I've never like he I was explaining he's like he never lived here Almost like it it was like he was he just did not like it here never part of the city like it's just I mean the team of course
But he never thought of him as being a Boston guy ever in Boston's not green Bay, you know like Boston is a like you know There's not that many cities in the world that are you know that much better than Boston You know what I'm saying like yeah it's not like any disgrace to like hang out in Boston yeah There are a lot of athletes who have you know played here they weren't from here and they stayed here Right I mean it's not like St. Louis and dudes that play for the carnal's all stay in St. Louis because why would you leave I mean Kachak stayed in St. Louis I mean those kids all grew up in St. Louis you still there If time tell me where have you been you know you just keep winning I want you to do it again What's he winning? He's thinking back yeah I think this is a retro It's a lot like the ever clear song it's a look back it's it's a taken stock of things now Just let him cook for crying out loud
Why do you gotta say Christ sake but you know what threw you for a loop is the satanic prayer at the beginning of that It's the power of enemies you don't want to you don't want to get on the same page as that To fire of time take me back to the day Yeah, we were still your favorite team back for you in a way I Remember cold nice Talking about I love to when you call the place I love to hear you talk. I don't believe he remembers the tuck rule game No, there's no no no no no there's no way it was January of 2002 Yes, so he's full of full ass yeah you piece of crap Tyler Milliken's cousin you liar you couldn't even get through 40 seconds of a song without lying okay You take you to the playoffs what he put you on the plane stupid again Semantics I don't care for those semantics I judge our
In a submarine you took us to a mountain top that is so hard to Yeah Franchise Defire of time Tell me where did you go Yeah, you had the league inside your hands all you had to do was throw Defire of time Tell me what do you see when you look back at your career stats the first thing second I see I feel kind of embarrassed for the room he's in because he's really letting it fly into the phone like with some passion Yeah, no, he's very confident on this one like yeah, I feel a little bad for the air in the room Secondary embarrassment for the atmosphere because I figured no one else is around It's just like if there's any all that poor furniture
They be thinking if there's any like distant like great relatives in this room or something goes there like oh Jesus Christ I should never gonna vet I'm showing the 81 Almost all in games on Fox Was it easy for me to wear your jersey to the left after 2019 again abandoning the left the Ryan scheme all right What do you think the deal is with that honestly like why do you think he gives up runs out of gas? Okay, he needs to finish the lyric. Yeah, I'm gonna finish this song. You said you got to put ten of these on an album We're right near the end of the song and they're cut to a point was like alright Home stretch some would say that a parody song only has to be under a minute. Yeah design maybe better if it's under a minute Sometimes I see your highlights and think of the thrill
My mom should have been on the pill There comes Brady's biggest raiders Brady gave us a ring a Ring or a rain ring because rain would be better right gave us a rain. Oh, maybe I wasn't a ring of I Would I don't think Tyler Melix and cousin was working in the abstract there. I think it's ring Because I was gonna give him some credit if you said Barry. He gave us a rain Yeah, okay Praise to finish his plank career He should still be with the organization Now Tampa's a crappy organization How are the Raiders of crappy organization?
Like if you think of football they're one of the top like franchises that you think of recently Right recently like the last 10 or 15 years put overall Obviously, yeah, but you're saying when you say franchise you're thinking about the like totality of the franchise Like I wouldn't say the Raiders are a loser franchise keep in mind. They've been crappy as long as he's been alive No, no, but Felgers the one saying oh fell. That's true. Felgers. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think the Raiders are the Raiders Want to laugh a lot for a long time. I don't know how crappy they are. I disagree with that whole statement Oh Well good. I'm glad he's trying look we got Mark going out to the game. We'll see how you do Yeah, you better show and prove out at that game on Sunday or you're gonna be in big trouble We can it's not too late to rescind that assessment we did on the air the other day Send it back to your professor at Dean college and you know Dean college don't take no shorts and take no losses That's right, but it's a good for him for trying. I appreciate that all right. So does anyone have an idea?
Do there is a ceremony before the game to honor the 2001 Super Bowl team is 25th anniversary of that and Cam emails us what's more likely this weekend? Bella check sends a video for the oh one ceremony or zoe takes a T ride Oh, zoe's not getting on the tee Bella check ain't sending a video either You don't think so I don't think so that would mean that he would have to Value being part of the remembrance of a great year for him than it would be then putting his aside his hate for craft I think the hatred for craft is still there I think that they'll be the excuse to as a game to coach Tomorrow right which you couldn't make a I know I know but I don't think and by the way remember this last basketball season He went to a Carolina basketball game with Jordan and Jordan had an orcids of Asia shirt on like the the
Rub-and-tug place. They have craft got caught. Yep. That's right. Which is a real Real that is a show no like a real a few like a real out of the way Yeah, and and when that happened I was even confused like whoa Like why all the sudden like that's like like that's not even something I would do and I'm very petty and I wouldn't do that Like you there's a like what did craft do that was so terrible to Bellic check that like there His girlfriend's wearing it that made Patricia wearing the Gidel clown no shirt look like a brilliant career move Right which coming off that plane. I went I camped he that you were in the NFL and wearing that This is gonna just it's so done because Craft would infernist you've been not been great at Ohio State this year No craft obviously didn't allow him to leave on his own terms. No, I know that but that he's still upset about that Regardless of all of the successes he's had he's not arguably the most successful head coach in NFL history
Right, and this is what sticks with him. Yeah, but I don't see like Chuck Noel in Landry like walking around wearing you know parody shirts of their owners Novelly tees. Yeah, like I don't think Chuck Noel necessarily I don't remember if he retired or not, but I can guess that it probably wasn't so great at the end of Chuck Noel's reign They weren't very good. I didn't say bellicick was acting like a grown-up. I'm looking for excuse It's just odd timing. I can see not liking craft It just seemed like a really long way to go and also If you made a video to the players that were on that team and to the fan base that supported you Way too much during those 20 years Way way way too much to your own detriment Maybe if the fan base was a little less worshiped Worshiped you a little less. Maybe your life would have come out better on the other end but I mean I would All it serves is is yourself and the people that
Supported you and the team that you love so much to make the video. It doesn't do anything for craft Crafts got himself in his own trouble Paul says and the hey good morning guys as much as I love the Fred get her out get her out of here tension That needs to be put to rest hear me out Fred Nick Sarah from Everett in a private room at this conos positive wine Except for Fred. He can have chocolate milk and hash out the tension. Thank you since really Paul from Plymouth I Sarah from Everett came to our thing at the casino. I didn't know it was Sarah from Everett even though I have looked at her walking dogs on several occasions and gok that her I didn't know it was her but we she said like can we work this out? I said I'm not mad at you You're mad at me. Yeah Again, you sent negative stuff three times a day For a year or so like I don't know what you think How I'm gonna like that like again when I make fun of someone in a mean way not when I'm teasing them But when I when I'm making someone fun of someone like a lambardi or a ballad check
I would be out of my mind to think they'd be like you know what that Fred's a good guy like Yes, I'm making fun of you. So when Sarah would send negative stuff several times a day I don't know what she thought I would I would be like oh, that's awesome. Thanks Yeah, it makes me feel really good, but then they get them on the radio so I have no feelings Like I love insults. They just are the best. I That's like oh you're on the radio. Yeah, yeah, that's right I I just insults don't matter to people on the radio It's just a fake person without any real feeling. Yeah, when I got to Google alert that the guy said that Efton Chisholm was only on the team because he was white and was making Calling me race-baiter and that actually delighted me but but no if someone's like you are horrible I did it's not like oh thanks that lets me buddies Fred looked across the room and Nick and Adolfo's birthday party and said I Can see her She came up to me and I'm like hi. I got I listen and then he said
Had to remove from the party. I don't think that that gets the point across on how Nick was acting Nick was acting like I had ten heads. I can't help that you can see her. Yes, see it pisses me off now Nick You're the one upset. No wonder your family won't get back to you. Oh, oh Speaking to Nick Mean the thing you just said I'm here. Yeah, how dare you? The Frederick in the subject line it said Nick asking for a police song and the email says The one that goes to do do do do do do do do do do do all I want to say say to you that one Don't want that one that one. Can you play the one that goes to do do do do do do do do do do do do do do do Yeah, that one That's how the baby talk do do do do do do do do da da da Yeah, sting is not what you said the police is sting is just like to me because you want me to sing
I'm like that's fine. All right Kevin Harlan's gonna join us. Let's talk to him in just a moment Looking for Boston's best gig deal get a stound gig Wi-Fi for just $30 a month for 12 months Plus a $200 gift card when you sign up today Fast reliable internet and incredible value choosing a stound is one decision you'll get right Go to a stound.com to get gig Wi-Fi for only $30 a month for 12 months plus a $200 gift card It's the best choice you'll make today Restrictions apply see us down.com for details I Y K Y K which obviously Y P Okay Hardy couldn't be bothered to be in here. He's he's recording commercials. That's fine Yeah, John you and I have I got it. We're very close relationship with Kevin Harlan
I think that people know that John and I Johnny is a play by play guy But John and I are Think the two best play by play guys possibly in the world Kevin Harlan and I and Eagle. Yep Yeah, you know, you know and if you are watching John's going to the game this Sunday Because of course he has several connections with the team. He's he's he's able to go to the I'm gonna sit right underneath Harlan's booth and wave out of the entire game throw away be like the Eagles fans and throw beer at the glass Oh, it's perfect. Oh, no, that's Zolak's thing not me Like the impudent rage of the Eagle fans as they threw beer at glass. That's right Kevin Harlan is calling the game on Sunday the Raiders Patriots game for CBS Kevin. Hello, Kevin Good morning, and you can come up in the booth anytime you want I want to sit out in front of us. Come on up fantastic Well, I was here for you. Do you see Zolak while you're there? It did yeah, I saw him in Seattle opening night and
Smiling talking as always and looking confident. It was not the it was not the pets night that night But they click you know, they they've clicked since then and they've kind of found their way a little bit maybe after last week and and they're ready to go against a quality opponent a quality Raider team It's been a while since we've said that Kevin. Is it hard for you to restrain yourself the way Scott does during the game Is not going to fall on route for the Patriots Well, I've known him for so long along at Bob. So I mean their friends first and foremost and That's a great thing about being a local announcer is that you can Let your emotions, you know, just fly and those two do they do such a good job one of the best crews in the league clearly and they've had this run a success and You know, it's your broadcasting to Patriot fans on your expansive network and that That's what they want to hear they want to hear the Patriot story. I'm glad they presented the way they do they're terrific
No, that is one of the I mean, that's why people will you know, that's why people listen to the home broadcast is that they hear the a little bit of home cooking Kevin when are you surprised by the The Raider's success so far now they haven't had like a murder as row of a schedule But are you are you at all surprised they played Kansas City very well. Yeah, they played him tight Are you which is maybe the most impressive thing they've done this year? What you're right. Yeah, yeah, no, no, I agree I think that that kind of said hey, you know, we began three and oh we played three teams that are not getting a good start to the season and then we play An undefeated Kansas City team arrival long time rival. There's a lot more to it than just the game and And they did play them while they live late in the game and then Kansas City came back. So I think they come in You know listen, they they've got a new coach They've got a fairly new general manager They had a ton of money to spend in the offseason. They did bolstering their defense in particular they get hurt cousins. So they got stability there
They've got their future quarterback in tow So if you looked at their model You would say they spent wisely they got veterans they build up their defense They've got the running back last year Gentie who was a highly drafted running back They've got the quarterback to kind of bridge between Mendoza and what is now And they're the same person cousins and Mendoza are the wire the same way act the same way Have the same for lack of a better term moral compass. I mean like they got They've got all the I mean, it's like father and son So it's really all of a sudden Things have changed now. I don't know what the Brady influence has been there But I would tell you that there's there he's not there as a figurehead and my feeling is is that Tom has given a lot of texture maybe not specific stuff, but just like cultural specific cultural things that they can kind of hang their hat on Ways that he saw in winning in both Tampa, but clearly in New England and those
You know ideas and and concepts have been implemented and so I think there's It's never one reason it's a lot of reasons, but I think he is one of the reasons Yeah, I just I don't know that the stability alone and you know Coming from a Michigan steak guy, so I you know, I have a certain amount of love for Kirk cousins I just don't know that that automatically equates to winning and while the win over the Miami maybe not all that impressive They played Kansas City well. They beat a decent enough Saints team to where it's got to be what you said Kevin It's got to be something else other than just the stability That they have there because they look like a real team that's got some I some notion of how to win Beyond just being we're good enough to go out there and not screw it up. They're they're doing a lot of things correctly Yeah, there's they spent the money wisely they've clearly made some some quality additions on that side of the ball Um, and and then getting the quarterback, you know like of all places Where Kirk cousins would be you know like you would think like this doesn't fit
He's there and he is embraced being a part of the changeover They've got a very friendly Offensive minded head coach who's coming off a super ball win who did a nice job with Darnell In Seattle and had had a nice Litany of successes prior to that San Francisco and and and so he's He's brought you know, I think they literally just started from scratch. They they took the kids they liked They they brought in a lot of new faces some winners and they got a clearly a stable quarterback And as we all know the team will will follow that kind of leadership when it's presented and cousins has always had that Kind of feel in the locker room at practice study habits and is desired to win and he You know and in Achilles a couple years ago kind of a so-so Atlanta um And and now he feels like I'm a hundred percent healthy as all Achilles tears would tell you
It's a two-year process unlike an ACL which can be as little as nine months within Achilles It is it is probably the second year where you show that you're fully back And I think there's something to that with cousins is actually two and a half years But he's showing it now with the Raiders they've made it very friendly They can run the ball although their numbers are not very good They've got world-class tight ends one of which is as good as there is in the league And and they're playing some defense. So all in all I talk about a team that had just a handful of wins last year that has come around and done what the Patriots did from two years ago to last year I mean there's there's some hope and and that's what players I then cling to they cling to hope organizations need hope they need some direction And I think for the first time in a long time they've got it in in Las Vegas. Okay, so You know you mentioned the coach clink who be ac so you guys obviously meet both teams before the games You have you know meetings with your production team and I've got we're talking to variable in in an hour. Oh Let's keep you around let's keep you on track
Just so you can make them wait Like not in these specific teams, but can can you tell from these meetings sometimes like what's gonna work and what's not gonna work Not specific game plan wise, but in terms of like Uh The coaches and in what you Like the vibe you get from them or walk away going. Oh boy. Yeah, like have there been times in your career that you've walked away going Wow, this guy obviously there probably been times you walked away and said this guy's really sharp But have there been times and I can ask you specifics. So don't worry. So feel free to answer this freely Uh, it had there been times that you've met and gone like oh boy like you guys like like get left the meeting and went Like you're not gonna say down the air, but you're like oh yeah All of all those noises. Yeah, we make them all the time now like Like just this year for instance last week we did We're in San Francisco with the 49ers and the Broncos and and you talk with both coaches
The confidence they each felt in our conversations Was palpable and you think there's no way this you like you talked to Kyle Shanian There's no way they're gonna lose you talk to Sean They've got the right game plan. There's no way they're gonna lose this game And then of course you see what happens Uh, we talked to to Jim Harbaugh opening weekend We were in Los Angeles with the chargers and they lost Arizona. I mean you can I don't know how people Gamble and find success in that world because we feel Not that we have a we have a bunch of incident information. We don't and we rarely get the right information on players that may or may not play The the cloaking dagger the teams play now with injuries and and revealing too much is minimal What you're doing is you're trying to read between the lines and some of their comments You're just getting an overall feel that you can convey what they said like we could say you know
If it's awkward Mike variable said dot dot dot and and so you kind of shift saying It's me saying it to this is what they told us So I know there's some accountability on their end, but I guarantee you I don't know that they think very much between us or Bob or or or Zola or whoever they might be talking to About how much they reveal. I mean, I think it's got to be kind of what you're I the the eye test is involved with the statistics and the analytics leading to the game with would would maybe tend to to influence You're looking at a lot of different sources of information, but as the broadcasters having that conversation saying yes, we talked to We talked to Kubiak we talked to variable we talked to Shannon and and then relaying that on the air About a player about a team about a win about a loss whatever it might be You know becomes part of what we're supposed to do as reporters There are people reporting on politics or reporting on teams or or whatever and they may have their own bias, but as reporter
You've got to say, you know, here's the fact they go on the road they beat Buffalo After being a a big underdog the quarterback finally shows what he showed last year And so you take those facts you then mix them in with comments from and we'll talk to Drake later on today as well Talk to him talk to Vrable and we throw it out there during the broadcast and then just kind of let the game Lead us on what we're gonna hit next, but you've got to have context going in You've got to have a framework of how you're gonna approach it But to sit and guess about If someone's gonna play and we've been told this guy will play and he's out We've told that guy's not gonna play and he's in so our trust level in terms of Believing everything they say is we're always kind of on guard. We may repeat it On the air because they said it to us directly But when we say stuff like that we're literally taking it from those meeting notes and and and putting it out there for for the fans to to digest and and then digest it
However, they want to in the context of what's going on in the game is Vrable Like a joy to deal with after Bellicek, but I wouldn't know I mean Bellicek was terrible to the media around here like at a podium Looking for Boston's best gig deal get a stound gig Wi-Fi for just $30 a month for 12 months plus a $200 gift card when you sign up today Fast reliable internet and incredible value Choosing a stound is one decision you'll get right Go to a stound.com to get gig Wi-Fi for only $30 a month for 12 months plus a $200 gift card It's the best choice you'll make today Restrictions apply see us down.com for details Um, I don't know how he was when you guys met with him if he acted like you you were inconveniencing him or if you have a good relationship with him but is the Vibe of meeting with the mic Vrable a lot different than it was meeting with Bellicek when he was the coach here So we've had Vrable in Tennessee and now with the with the pets and I would say that um
Um Excuse me. They're probably is not a great deal of difference in In their enthusiasm for visiting Um That was really well That was spectacular I don't want to say that they're mean they're not I don't want to say the rude they're not rude I just think that I just think they've got a lot on their mind And and they're trying to you know probably you know make sure that they cover what the question was Um, they want to be careful what they say Um, but the the league is like that now the league like you talked to Harbaugh He gives you relatively nothing you talked to a lot Andy Reed is is congenial and is kind and is nice a guy as he is Doesn't tell you a whole lot now he they may see things Without directly implying that should lead you if you're kind of if you're competent to say all right I'm getting the feeling This guy's not going to play or this guy could have a bigger role on Sunday or whatever whatever it's going to be frankly with
With Bellicek we always got along our crews always got along I was with Rich Ganon for a long time now I'm with uh Now I'm with Trent green and I'm with Kurt Warner on Mondays So I mean these coaches respect those guys in particular for the position They played and how well they played it So I think that buys our crew a little bit extra You know Attention But they're all nice. I just think they've got a thousand things to do And meeting with us is like number 602 You know and and and that's just the world they live in that's the world we live in um The league makes them available to us at the network level We we we never take it for granted. We appreciate their time. We respect their time We ask questions that that are not intended to To to you know be unflattering or to positive. We're just trying to you know Just get the basics for what we need and then the quarterback, you know Here's what happens And I've worked with quarterbacks is my three recent guys
They'll go on the field before the game and talk with maybe a coach they've had in their past They'll see a player that maybe they knew From a time in the in the past or something and they can get maybe a little bit more definition And a little bit more structured to the story But but really our job is to know the story's going in And and then report about what's going on and try to try to make sure that makes sense With the backdrop of what they told us on these meetings Yeah, you got to do a Sunday game in every week you got to turn around to Monday And that's got to be incredibly difficult Yeah, I'm not doing it this week because if I get to they give me two games off and Courts not going to be there because he's in London I doing the game so I'm not going to do the the Rams and bills and Make the cross country flight after the game, but normally Um see I I like that for two days. I feel like on the luckiest guy I get to do two NFL games right so and they're and they're both you know quality games usually our game on Sundays
A good game we get the another second or the third game on CBS And then we get the Monday night games So we we got I get I'm lucky enough to get two games and I mean there are like last week or in San Francisco and he had to get the New Orleans for Monday night That is not an easy change. So we stayed overnight at one place to get up the next morning and fly in um, but it's all part of being In a position to kind of live out your dream And that's what I do every Sunday in Monday. I this is what I dreamt of as a kid And I'm lucky enough to do it so I don't look at it as work although there's work involved I look at it as I get to do it I'm lucky enough to do it and and I never ever ever Take it for granted like to be in Foxboro this week With with an improving reader team and a team that was in the Super Bowl last year With those fans in that environment.
