Hello and welcome to our very first celebrity traders reaction episode of this series. This is the rest of the entertainment and I'm Marina Hyde. Now if you haven't watched the first two episodes of the celebrity traders, this is your spoiler alert warning. Do not proceed. We are discussing both in today's show. So after an opening week of Castle Chaos, here is what we're going to chat about tonight. Richard E. Grant tried out the boldest but most bizarre strategy of any trader in history, actually admitting they're a traitor immediately. But has Britain's ultimate thespian already received his curtain call at the roundtable vote? We will discuss the biggest decision points of the game so far from the picking of the traders to what I'm hesitantly calling the midnight strategic fuck up that left Amel Rajan in the dirt.
And of course, looking ahead to who they should murder next week, Jerry Hall or our colleague Hannah Fry. Okay, talking about dangerous decisions, one question seems to be on everybody's lips in the castle. Are actors actually dangerous? Do they make great traders? I've got some thoughts on that very special class of celebrity. And finally, we will look at both of those tasks, some incredibly unusual gameplay and who we think are the dark horses of the series. Now Richard, my Richard, is unable to join me for this first episode, but alongside me is true traders royalty. It is Charlotte Berman. Hello. Charlotte was a cast member of series three, best remembered for being an incredible strategic player, making it to the final five and pretending to have a Welsh accent when she actually grew up in West London. Charlotte, how does it feel to see the castle again on screen? Oh my goodness, thanks for the intro. It's very exciting. We are honored. I'm honored, one of my favourite podcasts. It's amazing. I love seeing the castle on screen again. I can't believe every time I see it, that I was in it.
Yeah, I see those rooms and I saw them because I was on series three. I saw them for series one and series two and then I got there and was like, wow, it's just like on TV. You know, you step in and you sit on the sofas and you sit around the fireplace and yeah, it's amazing. And I actually loved seeing celebrities do the same thing, but you can tell their massive fans as well. And I saw, I think it was Richard, actually poking his head in the kitchen when they first kind of let loose in the castle on it. It's just really fun. It's going to be difficult to avoid him for many seconds longer. But I want to say one thing before we go on, which is that the ratings are off the charts. The last series of celebrity traders, first series, opened with 6.5 million viewers. The first episode of this series, we don't know the ratings for tonight, opened with nine million. So it's already nearly a 30% uplift. And it's already absolutely massive. Let's get into it. The rest is entertainment is presented by octopus energy. Now entertainment loves keeping business in the family. There's no secret that that's traditionally been a an easier route to perhaps into shape is this is not necessarily the only way to get into the business. However, there are lots and lots of examples where it really has worked for people.
The coppulas stretch out beyond film into music. Nicholas Cage, though, changed his surname from Coppola. He's Francisville Coppola's nephew and he changed his surname just so that he could, you know, just be Nicholas Cage. And the other thing is that in LA, they did know that he was a coppola. He stands alone for me. I think Stenest glass guard is an interesting one because lots of his children became very, very famous. And he always calls himself a nepotad because as his children got more and more famous, people start to come to him more for roles. That's a nice way around. So entertainment has some remarkable family machinery, but however useful the surname isn't always the only way in. And this energy, for example, didn't inherit his place in the energy industry. It's proudly independent and one way it does things differently is having each customer's account looked after by the same small team of around 10 energy specialists. They know exactly who you are. This episode is brought to you by Wise. It's only when you start moving money between currencies that you really think about the exchange rate, the fee and what might be hidden away in the small print.

I think we're going to have to begin immediately with Richard E. Grant. On the first night, he revealed immediately that he was a traitor when JoLy said, asked him since then he has attempted to cover his tracks. Should we just talk about these traitors picks, right? They pick to. They pick Maya drama, who I think is very interesting because I think she is a big dog. I think a lot of people in there don't realise Maya Jon is a big dog. She's better to old, but she is massive. She's so you can tell she's poised, she's switched on. I think a lot of people might underestimate her, but also I don't know because her name has actually already been fleetingly mentioned. So we'll see, but I think she's a good pick. She is a good pick. Richard, they're thinking behind this, I am fascinated to know, first of all, how can we blame them?
They've already got the TV moment of the year. But he said to Claudia, I thought it was so wonderful. When they had the little chat, he said, I think she said describe being a traitor in three words. And he said, I am ruthless. And I literally said at that moment when I saw it, I said he will be a traitor. He has to be that kind of energy is what is what a traitor needs to bring. It's interesting that a lot of people in the entertainment business would say that Richard is an unbelievable gossip. He cannot keep a secret. Like anyone who's ever worked with him, the producer is Bruce Robinson, who directed with us. And he's like, what? He cannot not tell a secret. And also when he was picked, he said, my own daughter said, I just can't not say what I think. So in retrospect, there were some red flags. Some giveaways that what happened might have happened. Having said that, the producers, either way, have got, because we still don't know his fate at the end of episode two. So the producers have got two episodes of a connect television. And it's what everyone's talking about at the moment, isn't it? It's like Richard, I just can't imagine. So when he actually said it in the bar, I actually, I don't think everyone in the castle, I'm probably everyone in like the castle gallery sort of thought, what?
Did I just hear that right? He's just said he's a traitor. Like that's what? No one says that. I mean, you saw Joe Lyser literally go, if you watch and you study the game, you know that those first banishment are basically just like you looked at me in a funny way. Totally around. You said something completely random when we were rowing a boat across the lake. I mean, there's 20 of you around 20, isn't there? When you start, I know the celebrities probably know of each other, at least if they don't, if they're not necessarily each other's neighbors or best mates or whatever. But it's quite easy. I found anyway, to not speak to some people in the first couple of days, because there's 20 people, you know, and you can't all be having one conversation. So if I'm just in the bar having a chat with you, and I get to know you quite well, and I hang out with you quite a lot, let's lose people I don't chat with. So then when it comes to voting, you kind of don't feel too bad about managing someone you've not yet built a bomb with. But he's just sort of put his hand up and said, banish me. If you want to go, I've got nothing else. As June was saying, if someone says someone tells you who they are.
But they'd be foolish not to sort of test it, at least. He's been trying to cover his tracks, although I think they're right in that round table, someone said, but you haven't really explained why it isn't to you. It's as though he just, he knows he's done this unbelievably ridiculous thing. It's quite a whole to dig yourself out of. I think that's when you realise I think that it wasn't, I mean, it wasn't play. You know, he did sort of forget himself, because I think if it was a strategy, he would have said, you know, I'm a traitor. Of course, I'm a faithful. I'm not going to say I'm a traitor. I'm like, you know, he would have just immediately, but he really knuckled down, I'm a traitor. I'm a traitor. And then tried to sort of later on sort of say, oh, I was hoping it'd be an I am Spartacus moment, and all the people would join me. But you could tell that was sort of post-nationalised. Yeah, it's also like 90% of people in that room are like, what's Spartacus? Yeah, so true. I'm 20 say. I don't know what is on well. I'm a football player, but I'm a football player. Yeah, he hasn't had much success in trying to cover it at all.
But when the spotlight is on you, how desperate do people get? Oh, very. And well, I think it goes two ways. I had the spotlight on me, actually. I remember. I was a very early episode one and two, and I was a faithful. So that's really hard, actually, because you're desperately trying to prove to strangers, in my case, that you're innocent. I found, and I think what did help me is I rallied and thought, okay, instead of just defending myself, instead of just saying, which can be said, I think, quite a lot. Guys, it's not me, but, you know, vote me out, and I'll stand up there, and I'll show you I'm a faithful. Because that's not really the fence. People are like, they're killed, vote you out, because it's better than voting for me, isn't it? I actually came with an alternative. So I think you've got to have a defense. So obviously Richard is a traitor. But he needs, I think, if he's going to defend himself to just pick someone else. And the thing is, you're strategic. And so thank you. Not dealing with clasovets here, speaking of people who 99% of people don't know who it is.
But anyway, I'm not sure what he could actually do. He made Maya feel like, even she's lying to herself even, because she was facing the cameras and saying, you know, I'm obviously just going to have to go all out to defend my wingman. And the second she said it was like, you are niving him without any question at that table, and we both know him. And she knows it. She has two. I mean, Jerry, I thought was interesting, because, you know, she said, oh, you know, I live next door to Richard, we're great friends. Maybe he's just acting out because you didn't get them all. That's quite sweet because she's genuinely sort of thinking, I know him, I know his personality. But I think, you know, it's not enough of a defense, is it? We're fellow Richmond boomers. This is how we behave. I don't know. When we don't know what we want, we just pretend we have it anyway. So two enormous decisions are made in these episodes. The first is who the traitors are, Maya and Richard. We've talked a little bit about that. I think Maya is a good choice for a traitor. It's kind of hard to understand just where we are at the moment where James is really just become a traitor.
We haven't really seen no, have any interaction together in the turret. And where obviously, Monsieur liability is being iconic. Will they be three for much longer? It's very difficult to see if she had a tight team around her, if she would be more strategic because the next big decision, which was really crucial, was when the producer said to them, you need to bring two people in to plead their case. One will be murdered and the other will become a traitor. Now, you don't have to do what the producer is saying that case. Great. Let's go. One sacrificial lamb that we want sent home. Exactly. And the one person we know we want to be a traitor, rather than two people who are mentioning Richard's name. I mean, the first thing I thought, when that was said, when Claudia said, I thought, well, it's no brain, because we've just seen the mission. And Ross's paranoia start, didn't we? I mean, Bella put the captains out, the sailors out on his head and straight away, he's saying, was I murdered in plain sight? Did you just kill me? It was actually quite a swing when he said, did you just kill me?
Leanne touched me in the barn, said, or what's it called? And again, he's like, oh my god, don't touch me. Don't touch me. So I thought straight away, I was like, wow, my own Richard, going to bring in, for example, Ross murdered him, because then it really plays into his murder and plain sight sort of story. And then maybe keep Bella or someone like that, that there would be a full guy or keep Leanne or something like that, because he was quite public about that. We were chatting just before this, and I said, oh, they should have bought in Ross for sure to kill, because of that, this is misdirection. And Joe, to be the traitor, but then of course, Joe had the shield. The shield, him and Julie had the shield. So I imagine, it wasn't sort of said in the F-Safe, but I imagine that meant the traitors couldn't call in either Joe or Julie. No, I imagine, it wasn't actually made entirely clear, but that would have been the case. James A. Caster is, I mean, it's an interesting pick, because his entire comedy stick, and he's extremely famous for it, is I am very neurotic and socially anxious. I think also really interesting, because he came across as, or was coming across as a very strong faithful,
you know, the little exchange in the bar between him and Richard in episode one, well, he basically sort of said, I know it's you, and the camera just lingered, and there was no sort of break from that. There was no cut to laughter, it was quite intense. So I thought he's making a really good kind of detective faithful hit. So now that, you know, he's joined the dark side, it'll be quite interesting. Amol was a waste of time, if they wanted James as the traitor, then they should have, as I said, we should have had Ross. I did feel Amol will go early after saying this, there's some sort of vibe to it. I don't know. It's so hard, because it is, you know, it's like, doesn't like someone goes first. I wonder how he feels. It's not an exciting, I always feel like with the celebrities you get an exciting first departure. So they get two episodes minimum. And also, we want to speak a little bit about the show craft. You can tell, if someone's getting lots of screen time in an episode, that doesn't always mean something great. Amol was allowed to play out because they obviously realised that he was going to be the first to go.
When they do the edit, I have to say that the decision that we're left with now, because of that, the task, which we're going to have to go to, if there were only two to go, who can be murdered and it's Jerry and Hannah Fry, I am afraid you are killing Hannah Fry. No disrespect to the Richmond Massive. It's such a shame, because actually, I didn't know of her too well before watching this series. And I like her. She's fantastic. She does rest of science. Oh my gosh. She's absolutely brilliant. Of course, she's very, very clever and right. And she's observed Maya. It's a problem. And I just wonder if people pick up on that. If they get rid of her, we don't know. Yeah. We don't know. But they must get rid of her because she's just too clever. She just gives a lot of faithful energy as well. And I think sometimes when you've got people like that who, well, you never know, I mean, she could be recruited down the line. We never know. But I just think it's better to get rid of people that are so stoically faithful. And there I say, people who are just not brilliant detectives, no disrespect to Jerry.
And I'm loving that you're doing this often in breakdown of the movement of that marriage. I love this for you. But I think that if you're a bit dim at the game, the longer you stay, the better for everybody. Is that a classic thing? I know you'll get there later on the series when people say, why am I still here? Well, maybe you'll be so great. It's because you're a stupid. Sorry. But bless Jerry. And I couldn't have had enough more time for her and Robin Ramesh being Texan with her was a very, very enjoyable moment. So what are our thoughts to just go back to that decision, to go back to this one that they've got James, they have entered in an incredibly tense state. Yes. It is intense. You can tell there's more of a pressure in the castle. Richard said, my Richard. You're Richard. Great. Not to get into the whole show. Yeah. My Richard said, the cool, calm, collected Richard said that everyone sort of says they've gone in this at this time at the same pitch as the last one ended. And they were all very, very paranoid. It sort of felt like everything was highest day.
Well, there's been so many series now, and I don't just mean in the UK. You know, this is a global thing. We have access to unlimited series of traders at any point. I think I'm halfway through the latest US one at the moment as well. It's impossible to keep a hold of. So everyone is clued up on the tricks of the trade. I mean, when I went in and filled my series, there had just been this cliffhanger ending in Australia involving maybe a minus boiler. Three traders and they had a traitors dilemma and they ended up with no money at all. And so when I went in, lots of us were asking this question, saying, can we just check if that's part of the rules? You know, because you've all seen everything and everyone wants to know. And that's why I think Ross was just so sweet because he was so paranoid. He would be. It's interesting with someone like James A. Caster. I don't feel he is going to, the way he was playing immediately after being recruited, saying things like, I'm just going to stick to facts. I'm not actually going to lie. So that there are forms of words that can get you around. You can't do that. You can't. I mean, because at some point he will have to sit around table, you know, I think it's X.
Knowing it's not. Yeah. You know, he can't. You're going to have to dump someone and you can have to vote for someone. You're going to have to plant seeds or carry on rumours if you're to survive. So if you're going to be so kind of straight, I don't think it really works. I can't wait for his stand-up routine about it. Can I just say? I can't wait. But I did think that he was immediately spinning out saying it's like I'm feeling every single nation all at once. And I thought he'd let nervous walking around the castle. It's really odd though, because I know he was only been a faithful for essentially a day before being recruited. But when I was recruited and became a traitor, I just remained the same. You know, I knew what it was to be faithful. And he's had a day of it, maybe a day and a half. I don't know. I don't know how long it is in the castle before that happens. So you just need to be the same. You don't even think it. Just be the same. Then be a traitor when you're in the turret. Just be a traitor when you're missing. So there's always these overthink a lot of things in my experience. Maybe. We are going to go to an ad break now. But after the break Charlotte, I want to talk about whether or not we think actors are dangerous in this game
and who we think are the players to watch. And also a little bit about the tasks. This episode is brought to you by Lloyds. Now show business loves a club. I love all these sort of unofficial groupings of people. There's two brat packs that I'm big fan of. There are two brat packs. Yeah, there's two brat packs. Because there's the movie brat pack, all of the Judd Nelson, you know, Rob Lowe and Charlie Sheen and all those guys. I've gone in the breakfast club. And then there's also the brat pack of those kind of turn of the 90s novelists, Bretti Sinellis, Jay Macanani, Donna Tart. And that's I think creatively. It's actually very, very useful to hang out with other people who are incredibly talented. Because you drive each other on to do things. Because a lot of the British novelists in the 80s, Martin Ames, Julian Barnes, Ian McEwan, they all used to go and have lunch and have dinner. And you could just tell you know, they would talk about stuff and they would make each other's work much better.
The benefit of being in a group being in a club, that becomes more than the sum of its parts. There's always, right from the first civilian series, there've always been people thinking that you must hide any acting ability, like even if you've been a corpse in casualty, because people will think you've got some sort of witchcraft and ability to play the game brilliantly, and you can conceal things better than anybody.
And in light of everything we've watched in a series where about eight of them, almost half of them are actors, but Richard is an actor. Discuss. Do you know what, though, that's such a good point? Because why in the civilian series are actors seen as such a threat, and people that have to be voted out, and in this live series, that you said about half a fucking distance are actors. That's their profession. I think it's so interesting, because actually, if anything, I acted my way through our series of my well-shack. You did a well-shack, and I don't think Michael Sheen is doing the same huge of truth. If Michael Sheen is pretending to be well-shed, that would be incredible episode 6 reveal. That would be absolutely huge. No, I think it's really interesting. I don't know. They go their whole lives pretending to be other people. I guess we know them, at least, you know, me and the public. I know these actors from TV or stage or whatever. And then now we're seeing sort of the real them. And they can't do that.
But it's an act in the castle. It's kind of, yeah, it's crazy. And if you know actors, and I know very, very many, and I have total respect for what they do, but it does require them to be extremely emotional, to have an incredibly porous barrier with the outside world, because that's how they do it. That's how they kind of sublimate themselves into other people. That's how they find a way of absorbing things that they can use later. Yeah. I think that they're almost the worst of it, because they're just... And funnily enough, Mahala said, actors are terrible liars, which I thought she did. She's very good. She is, she is, in a minute. But she said, oh, they're terrible liars, which I completely agree. And I think that it's after Richard, who is obviously the sort of Mosinia actor in all of this, I Oscar nominated, etc. I don't know. I think it's interesting, because some of the actors, so you've got people like Richard, but then, for example, Miranda Hart, who I love, so fun, you know,
an actor, but also an amazing comment. You know, she kind of has a hybrid. I feel like she could be really great, a really strong asset, because she does, you know, her whole Miranda show, or, you know, it does the, so kind of that clunky, kind of lots of stairs, lots of looks, which I think could be quite interesting in the castle. Comedians are good, I think, because they're clean. Yeah, exactly. And it's a very different skill. And I think that the comics are, and whoever it was who said, oh, one of the sort of big six comics said, it will be very, very difficult for us. They're my biggest threat. They, first of all, they know each other very well. They know each other from the circuit. But second of all, they're so attuned to little changes in this and that. So I think that comics are much more dangerous than actors. Yeah. But looking, let's, should we go a bit more around the table and look at some of the kind of good players and bad players? Julie, I think, could be, I've always thought, could be so strong. Well, people, I think, already, are essentially mixing her up with her character.
Yeah. You know, again, this is, this is interesting, because again, they might know her, or know, certainly, of her in the world and the industry. But I think, already, she's giving off this cosy, friendly, and she's admitted this, you know, people are, again, are underestimating her. So you could go quite far. People are just mixing her up with Haley. It is Haley, isn't it? Yeah, the character. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think you're right. And I think there's something about Julie that is, she's immediately voted the most sort of trustworthy. There's something about her, and I was saying to one of my producers earlier, if you ring a call centre, because your broadband's not working or something, and you get a voice like that on the phone, you're like, great. I know, as a age woman, I can hear her competence. Yeah. And I know that I'm going to leave this call. I'm going to have broadband again. Yeah. And I'll be little. You get one of the guys in their 20s, you're like, oh my god, I'm going to have to keep calling back until I get a woman who sounds like Julie has the time. So true. And you're going to have to triple check, you're going to get email confirmation. Yeah, I'm just so many times. She is going to sort out whatever problem I go to the call centre with.
She's got a good alliance, very strong alliance, potentially, with Joe, because they obviously like each other. And she gave them the shield, so it's kind of like he owes her a favour now. And he said, I don't think it's her, he's a very strong character. Yeah. Unlike, for instance, James A. Kastler, who obviously they couldn't recruit him, as you say, because of the shield. But he is very kind of resilient. And he was able to enjoy at all. At breakfast, you could see that he was laughing and having fun. He is very cool under pressure, I think. Some people like Julie and Joe that, I think, yeah, stand out as, you know, being faithfuls and strong faithfuls. And the other people will definitely not look at, I don't know, but it doesn't seem like they'll look at them very soon. But then there were other faithfuls that sort of are in the mix that you think they're not quite getting it through, that they're innocent, if you like. So clearly. They haven't worked that very well. Yeah. I think Bella is a very strong player. It's interesting. People who are neurodiverse, like Kat, last year. Yeah.
There's something about a distance and a kind of constant reading of cues. And she's definitely the youngest, right? Yeah. So I think she's definitely got youth on her side as well in the sense that people aren't going to gang up and pick on her straight away anyway. But very determined and I think could be quite a fearsome opponent at the roundtable because there's a real clarity there. Rob and Ramesh. That's... I know. Tell me what your thoughts are. It's just interesting that they put them in, right? I know. And I do, it's funny because I heard Ramesh talking about traitors. I think it must have been on the one show or something. And obviously he couldn't say anything. But he did say it was more real and all-consuming and intense than perhaps he had realised. And I remember watching that thinking, like, yeah, like it's true. It is your in it, your in the game. And then to do it with the best mate. And obviously, I guess it's a little bit like having those hidden relationships in the civilian version. Like everyone knows they're tight. So at some point, even though they are both faithful at the moment, at some point I wonder if people will want to look to split that bromance up.
Yes. And I will work against them a bit, I reckon, long time. I think it will. It's very different for it not to. And his thing about having, like, resting in different phases. Yeah. I don't think he will maintain his indifference. I think he's going to get it. It's so hard not to become. Well, they're good. How quickly did you become? I know you were so strategic all the way through. And, you know, Bar that seer thing. Yeah, I think you'd gone all the way. But how quickly did you feel yourself becoming institutionalised into the hermetically sealed world? Honestly, it's like a day. For me anyway, I'm because of the Welsh accent. Yeah. I'm glad you've done a bit of it. It's a little sample for me. I, honestly, after the first day, which is so overwhelming, because again, this is obviously just why I haven't had this experience. But for a regular person like me, there's not many situations, but I can't think of any situations where you go somewhere where you know no one. You have no handhold at all. You don't know any friend or any person.
And you're meeting 20 new people. And so that's really quite intimidating. And I think myself, I'm quite a confident person. You know, I'll sit next to a random or a wedding and chat away for an hour or so. But actually, it's quite intimidating. And everyone's quite confident. So you'll kind of let, oh, God. It really makes me think the first day at boarding school. But anyway, we'll just get back onto the subject. Yeah. But I think, and because I did as well, Jackson, I did have a slight crisis, I would say, after day one, thinking, what am I doing? Like, what am I doing? And of course, I couldn't come clean. You know, if I came clean and was like, oh, actually guys, you know, forget what I was sounding like yesterday. This is me. I'd obviously be back straight away. You'd have been acting. So, exactly. So I just had to get into it. And I did. And it's so, it's so all-consuming. And do you all talk when the cameras are not at, when you're doing chat and it's not going to be on the television, you know, is everyone just saying, I can't remember what the outside's like anymore. So to be honest, it's funny. It's so heavily monitored. You can't really talk about, you know, you are just sort of really light touch chat,
I think, at the time we were chatting about, like, what's our favourite? Taylor Swift songs and stuff like that. But at the same time, all of that is relationship building. Yeah. So if I'm trying to sort of make sure I've gotten a Alliance with such and such, and we both really like the same musical. That's quite handy, because they're probably going to want to keep me in. So yeah, I think it is all-consuming. I certainly couldn't switch off. I mean, it is enjoyable, don't get me wrong, there are some genuine, but I think actually a lot of the enjoyment actually comes sometimes from like the intensity, you know, you're kind of laughing really hard, you're playing really hard, but your brain is also in overdrive, so everything's just like really intense. Every day is filled with adrenaline. And that's not just from like running around in a mission. It's because you're trying to survive. Yeah, yeah. James Bond couldn't sleep all night. He must have just been sort of mainlining adrenaline. Yeah. I think Miranda is sitting back well, and I think she's been really open about feeling about, so sometimes she feels overwhelmed, things like this. So I think you might have had a pre-conceived view that she might find it particularly difficult,
but instead she has, I think she's played it really, really well. I did have to laugh when she got out of the grave, and there was mud in an absolute hit in the stars. I have to just please, that's- But that was what I know, and it's like- They put those shots in because it's great, it's like, it's fantastic. I think Joe is an amazing booking, because he is, you need somebody who will not actually go to pieces, and somebody who says exactly what they think. But I think he is sort of like a real full spectrum player. I just love- Actually, you mentioned him like, I couldn't believe James Bond is 53. I thought, you're beautiful came out when I was like, 15. School came out on a PGL holiday. I mean- I literally did. I didn't realise that. I think he's so great. I just love the medley of players that they've got this series. I'm looking forward to see how he plays out. We haven't got forever, but I would love to talk about the graveyard task. I'm just going to just say what I feel about the graveyard task, to be perfectly honest, because we are above all Charlotte, more than anything else, these celebrities are here to help people less fortunate than them,
because this show is all about charity. Sure. The fact that they finished the graveyard task with half the money left in the ground. What? And they rescued everyone, so there's now just- The only reason there's a short list of two to be murdered is because Jerry couldn't really deal with the sort of cluster of people. It's really deal with the sort of cluster of Fabio of it, or whatever, instead, Haggis. And so it's her and Hannah. Ross Kemp was about as non-strategic as you can get. He was thinking, I'll bring the harvest in myself and sort of dug everybody up and got everyone else to dig everyone up. He said to the camera, I'm loving the missions baby. It's like, yeah, that's not what you're- It is so non-strategic. Everyone's- But all the others just came into the Kemp slipstream and did what he said. No one said, hang on a second, should we not get the money? And then if there's a list of six people to be murdered, that's bad, but it's not the worst thing- Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not the worst thing in the world. Well, it's better, isn't it? I mean, this is the whole tussle. It's like, obviously you don't want to be on that list of six. But it's better to be on a list of six and a list of two. Yeah, and if he- And then you get more money as well. And if he and the others, by the way, because although he was the leader of it,
everyone else fell in behind him without any discussion whatsoever, which is a failing of all of theirs. None of them said, hang on a second. Hannah might be quite useful. I'm not sure what Hannah's- You know, she might be particularly useful. Should we try and widen this murder list a little bit? Yeah. But it's now left with this incredibly binary choice. Do you keep somebody's not a threat or someone who is? So also, as I just keep saying, you are on the show, above all, to make money for charity. Yeah, well, yeah. So I found that kind of interesting. Now, perhaps we should end like they did on their cliffhanger. They've ended on a cliffhanger. That is unusual, right? In the UK version of the show. Yeah. So we don't get to see who's banished, which is, you know, frustrating. We normally always do. Yeah. The US, of course, because that's just how they have to give you a cliffhanger, even between every commercial break. They've always sort of done a cliffhanger on the, after the roundtable. But with the UK one, it's sort of been much more fan service. You find out who it is in this moment of incredible catharsis. Then they go back to the bar and the producers always find some other way.
Yeah, exactly. Kind of putting it in a different dress. Another carrot of what's going to happen next week. Yeah. We are all going to tune in anyway. We are all going to tune in anyway. So we know that next week's episode will start with seeing those votes, seeing the banishment, which I imagine has to be Richard. I can't, it can't be surely anyone but Richard. But then he, because he's so fantastic, you know, I hate to use that lens, but is it because that's giving him three episodes, two and a half episodes? If you like, he's getting this glorious exit. He's given us, he's given us the introduction to this new series, which it needed. It's been very fun. But ultimately, you know, so he's a sort of got, you know, he's got a lovely arc. Two and a half episodes. Yeah. A bit like in the last season of succession when, you know, Brian Cox has to go, goes in about, goes about halfway through. It's a bit, it's a big character and you have to give it that moment. Yeah. Yeah. So in terms of screen time, we saw that Amol got a lot and therefore we might have assumed that he was to get, I thought Hannah got a lot of screen time. And well, that's interesting actually because, oh yeah, we don't know if it'll be Hannah or Jerry, but
it would come on. Strategic, it makes sense to be Hannah, but then we don't know how strategic these are. But then it's interesting because if Richard is banished, it will be down to Maya and James to murder. Right? Yes. So it's whether they make that decision. I feel that they're going to, I can't think that they're not going to choose to murder Hannah. Yeah. Also though, at two, I think you get the opportunity to seduce. Yes. So I don't know if then a murder gets fought. Oh, I have to see. It's all very exciting, but I don't know if they have to do the murder or if they'll get the opportunity to do so. Yeah, that's what we're going to do today. Will they have to do the murder? Don't you want to say? Exactly. That could be what happens and then no one gets murdered. But I also feel, again, from being in the castle and they'll have been there a couple of days by now. They've done what? Two missions now. Yeah. You want to see some murders. You want to see those numbers whittling down. You sometimes when Claudia announces, guys, amazing news, I'll be no murders tonight. Even as a faithful, I was like, no, I want a murder. I don't want to be murdered, but I want the numbers to be whittling down because only that way can we get to the end.
We can't get to the end with 20. I mean, it will be a truly absurdist pageant if no one gets murdered because of recruiting. I just keep recruiting. Yes. Seducing. Yeah, I don't think that, well, I think that can't possibly happen. No, but I do think they'll need it. Well, actually, I like, we've obviously had a mole being murdered. So we have had a mighty fool. But yeah, I'll be interesting to see if they get an option to seduce or if they just have to do Hannah. Versus Jerry. Well, that particular cliffhanger, I think we must conclude our first reaction episode. Charlotte, the joy of having you on this has been so much for me. You know I respected you as a player beyond. I think you're amazing. You are more strategic than anyone I've seen so far on this show. So far. So far. So far. So far. There's everything to play for. Charlotte, thank you so much for coming on. Thank you. Honestly, I loved it. So far.
